Full version of Chapter 1 of My Roslin/Adama Story
I have finished the first chapter of my Roslin/Adama story. i wanted to post to see how much interest there was.
Chapter 1
AN: So, I was recently re-minded of my love of Battlestar Galactica especially Laura/Bill and ever since I haven’t been able to stop thinking of this story. My plan is for it to stay close, excluding the changes necessary due to Laura/Bil’s history, their daughter’s presence, and things that were hinted at that I want to explore, to canon for early ‘seasons’, but as the story progresses things will get further from cannon until the New Caprica Arch which is when most of the changes will be taking place, which will cause a ripple effect on the rest of the story.
(LINE BREAK)
15 years 11 months before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies
Desperately hoping that he isn’t too late William ‘Bill’ Adama is running though the Caprica Fleet hospital. With how fast he is moving and the look that is on his face people move out of his way without him needing to say anything, something which Bill doesn’t even realise as he is so focused on his objective. Finally getting to the room he was desperately searching for Bill doesn’t even take a second to pause before he opens the door and hurries in the second he does he realises that his fear is confirmed, he was too late, and he hates himself for that.
“I’m sorry,” Bill says as he walks towards the bed where his wife, Laura Roslin, is sitting holding a tiny baby wrapped in a pink blanket. While she is clearly exhausted to Bill, she looks incredibly beautiful. “I tried, I…” Bill starts to say, having no idea how to make up for missing what he has missed, staying a few steps back as he doesn’t know how Laura is going to react as he wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t forgive him.
“Bill,” Laura says, her voice full of pain, and sounding almost defeated, making it clear with one simple word that she doesn’t want to hear his excuses, that it’s not the time to hear them. “Come meet your daughter,” Laura says to him, and Bill walks the few steps to the bed.
“Daughter?” Bill asks, as like with their sons they didn’t find out what they were having in advance, as he walks towards Laura, who nods and once he is close enough, he gently takes the tiny baby from her. “Hi sweetheart,” Bill says, his voice full of amazement and as he looks at his daughter, he feels overwhelming love, overwhelming protectiveness. “She’s so small,” Bill says, looking down at her, a look of amazement on his face, memorising her blue eyes, the small bit of red hair she has, her noise exactly like her mother, her complexion like his. “The boys were never this small,” Bill notes thinking of their older children Lee and Zak who are ten and eight respectively.
“No, they weren’t,” Laura confirms, being able to picture with perfect clarity what each of her boys, who are currently with her sister, looked like when they were born. “We almost lost her,” Laura reveals, knowing that even though he wasn’t there Bill deserves to know, he needs to know.
“What?” Bill says, looking away from his daughter to look at Laura, his voice full of horror as he can’t imagine never getting to meet his incredible baby girl.
“There were complications, she wasn’t breathing,” Laura reveals, it being painful for her to explain what happened. “Doctor Cottle worked on her and got her breathing, but it took time,” Laura explains, remembering the terror she felt when she was all alone and though she was going to lose her daughter; how ever second felt like it lasted a torturous lifetime.
“Is she okay now?” Bill says, looking back as the face of his baby girl, who seems okay to him, but he needs to be sure.
“She was on oxygen for a few hours, and she may be more vulnerable to raspatory illnesses as she gets older, but yes Doctor Cottle says she is going to be okay,” Laura assures him, and as soon as she sees that Laura can see the relief pass over him, but there is also a hint of worry which isn’t surprising.
“Good, good,” Bill says, sounding glad. “She’s a strong, just like you,” Bill says, and Laura, despite all the conflicting emotions she has felt over the last day, smiles slightly at Bill’s compliment. “She needs a name,” Bill realises, looking at Laura, wondering if she has though about that as he has a few ideas.
“I was thinking we name her after our mothers,” Laura reveals, and Bill smiles as he was thinking the same thing. “EJ, Evelyn Judith Adama,” Laura suggests. “What do you think?” Laura asks, as she was waiting for Bill to make it official but that’s what she has been calling their little girl, and it feels right to her.
“I think it’s perfect,” Bill admits. “Hi EJ, I love you so much, and you’ve got two brothers who love you too and can’t wait to meet you, and the most amazing mom,” Bill says as he walks back over to the bed where Laura is and sits down next to her, still holding EJ, being careful that he doesn’t hurt either of his girls. “I love you, Laura,” Bill says to his wife, and as he does, he sees a look of pain pass over Laura’s face.
“And I love you, Bill, so much,” Laura says tears coming to her eyes. “But I can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep waiting for you to come home. I can’t keep telling our boys that you’re sorry you’re not around, that you do care, that you’ll be home when you can,” Laura admits, needing to say this now as when she was alone and struggling to give birth to EJ she had a moment of clarity, and she knows that Zak and Lee are constantly hurt by their father not being around, and she doesn’t want them to keep experiencing that pain, she doesn’t want EJ to ever experience it. “You’re my best friend, and we were partners once, but this isn’t working anymore,” Laura admits, knowing that since Bill rejoined the fleet they have been trying to make it work, and Laura would never ask him to give it up because she knows what it means to him, but it just hasn’t been working, in fact it has only been getting harder.
“I know,” Bill admits, as while it is painful for him to admit it, he knows that’s true, and he knows that all he has been doing is letting his family down, hurting them. “Where does this leave us?” Bill asks, looking at Laura, as he has no idea.
“I don’t know,” Laura admits, as she lays her head on Bill’s shoulder and the two of them drift into silence as they look down at their newborn daughter, neither knowing where they go from here, but both knowing that no matter what happens between them what they want is what’s best for their kids, who matter most to them.
15 years eleven months later
“Please Mom, please,” EJ Adama, who has grown to look more like her mother, with her long red hair tied back into a high ponytail, but with her father’s eyes, skin tone and temperament, begs as she walks with her mother through the Caprica City River market, the two of them doing some shopping for dinner. “Please let me come,” EJ begs.
“EJ it’s a work trip, it’s not for fun,” Laura tells her daughter, knowing that her upcoming trip to the Battlestar Galactica could be described as lot of things, but she is sure that fun isn’t on the list.
“Lee’s going to be there,” EJ argues.
“Your brother is going to be there because he is a part of the ceremony, he’s going to be there for work,” Laura tells her daughter, knowing that in stark contrast to his sister Lee isn’t happy about being ordered to the Galactica, and hearing that EJ smirks as that is exactly what she was hoping her mother was going to say.
“That’s exactly my point,” EJ admits. “Mom this decommissioning is just as much about Dad, his career and retirement, as it is about the Galactica. I want to be there for that, to support him, please let me come,” EJ says, looking at her mother with eyes that are identical to her father, eyes that all of her children inherited, and that Laura has loved for most of her life. “Please Mom,” EJ begs, after raising three kids, mostly alone, Laura has gotten good at saying no to begging, but there is something about EJ’s voice that gets through to Laura.
“Okay,” Laura says, feeling concerned that it might be a mistake, but it is clearly incredibly important to EJ, and she knows it would mean a lot to Bill.
“Okay?” EJ asks amazed, as she planned a lot more arguments in case her mother didn’t agree so easily, as honestly, she wasn’t expecting it to be so easy to get her mother to agree to let her miss school and go to the Galactica.
“Okay, but you should know that your dad’s going to be busy, you might not be able to spend as much time with him as you’d like,” Laura tells her daughter, not wanting her to get her hopes up about how much she is going to get to spend with her dad.
“I know, I still want to go, want to be there for him,” EJ admits, as it is something that is very important to her, and because of that she thought about it a lot and realised her dad might be busy.
“Then okay, you can come,” Laura says, putting her arm around her daughter, who is about the same height as her. “I have an appointment tomorrow morning, and a meeting, so I’ll pick you up from school at lunchtime,” Laura tells her daughter, keeping her voice even as she mentions her appointment as she doesn’t want her to worry even though the doctor has hinted that it’s not good news. “Make sure you get your bag ready tonight,” Laura tells her, as she knows that with how packed her schedule is they aren’t going to have much time tomorrow.
“I will,” EJ says excited. “Thank you, thank you,” EJ says amazed, hugging her mother and kissing her check, and as she sees how happy EJ is Laura knows she made the right choice, despite her own reservations, she just hopes it’s not a decision she grows to regret. “So, what are we going to do for dinner?” EJ asks her mother as they break apart, but Laura keeps one arm around her daughter.
“That’s a good question,” Laura admits as she looks around. “What do you feel like?” Laura asks, as she is not fussed.
“Chicken noodles stir fry?” EJ suggests, and Laura hides her amusement as all three of her kids, and Bill, all love that particular dish.
“Sounds good,” Laura responds, and the two of them continue to walk through the market, getting what they need.
(LIne break)
A little while after EJ made the suggestion for dinner EJ and Laura are arriving back home, both of them carrying shopping bags as they brought more than just what they need for dinner.
“I’m going to call Lee, tell him I’ll see him tomorrow,” EJ says to her mother as they walk into the main living area, feeling excited about seeing her bother and not just because she hasn’t seen him in a little while but because there is something she wants to talk to him about in person, something she observed a few days ago which makes her concerned about their mother.
“First, help put the shopping away,” Laura tells her daughter, not at all surprised that she wants to call her brother.
And over the next few minutes Laura and EJ put the shopping away and once they do that EJ hurries off to call her brother while Laura gets started on dinner.
As she is washing up, Laura reaches into her pocket, and pulls out a pair of dog tags; dog tags that she has kept with her every day for two years, dog tags with the name with the name Zachary Adam on them, and just like she does several times a day Laura stares at the name of her son, the piece of him she keeps with her every day; and for a few seconds allows herself to feel the heartbreak of his loss, heartbreak that she has to do her best to pushdown to be able to function.
(Line break)
After leaving her mother in the kitchen EJ hurries to her bedroom that is bright, full of books viper models and posters, and covered in pictures of her with her friends, brothers, mother, and even a few with her father. Getting to her bed EJ picks up her phone and spends the next five minutes getting connected to her brother; it taking so long to do so because of the security needed to do so.
“Adama,” Lee’s voice answers.
“This is Adama too,” EJ responds, smirking as she speaks.
“EJ,” Lee says, and EJ can practically hear how glad he is to hear from her. “How you doing, Kiddo?” Lee asks her.
“I’m good,” EJ says rolling her eyes at her brother calling her kiddo, but she knows that there is no use trying to get him to stop. “How are you doing?”
“Can’t complain,” Lee responds, knowing that if he were to admit how much he is dreading going to the Galactica it would just cause a fight between him and his sister, as they have very different views about spending time with their father which he doesn’t understand, which he doesn’t want.
“Good,” EJ says, sounding glad. “So, I’m going to see you tomorrow,” EJ reveals, as she lays back on her bed, excited about that as it’s been a little while since she has seen him, but also knowing that they are going to have to have a difficult, likely even painful, but necessary, conversation about what she saw a few days earlier.
“You’re coming to the decommissioning?” Lee asks shocked, as while he knew about his mother going, in a professional not personal role, he didn’t expect his sister to be joining her.
“Yep, I begged mom and she agreed. I finally get to see Galactica!” EJ says excited as she has never seen it before, but she knows how much it means to her father.
“It’s not that big of a deal,” Lee tells his sister, not wanting her to be disappointed, which he knows is always a strong possibility when it comes to their father., something which he, Zak and their mother always tried to protect EJ form.
“Maybe not for you, but to me it is,” EJ says excited.
“You’ve been to a Battlestar before,” Lee reminds his sister, trying again to get EJ to lessen her expectations.
“Yeah, the Valkyrie when I was like six, this is different,” EJ tells her brother, as she can barely remember that trip. “I can’t wait to see Dad, and the ship, his ship,” EJ says excited, as from all her dad has said she almost feels like the Galactica is part of the family, and even though she can’t see it Lee frowns, having a really bad feeling about this.
“Hey, EJ, can I talk to Mom?” Lee asks, wanting to see if his mother has the same bad feeling about EJ going to Galactica as he does.
“Sure, give me a sec,” EJ responds before getting up and heading to the kitchen, hoping that her brother doesn’t try to convince her mother not to let her go to the Galactica.
About a minute after she left her bedroom EJ walks into the kitchen where Laura is working on getting dinner ready for the two of them.
“Mom, Lee wants to talk to you,” EJ informs her mother.
“Okay, start to get the noodles ready,” Laura tells her daughter, as she wipes her hands.
“Got it,” EJ says, handing the phone to her mother.
“Hi Sweetheart,” Laura says to her son, as she walks a little away from where EJ is, suspecting that Lee is going to question her about letting EJ go to the Galactica.
“Hi Mom,” Lee responds, sounding glad to hear her voice. “So EJ’s coming to Galactica?” Lee asks, and Laura can tell that he doesn’t think it’s a good idea, something which doesn’t surprise her considering the issues Lee has with his father.
“It’s important to her,” Laura explains to her son. “I know it will make things more complicated, but she really wants to come, be there for your father,” Laura explains to her son.
“Right,” Lee says with a bitter laugh, telling Laura everything she needs to know about the chances of things between Lee and Bill getting better. “Have you talked to him lately?” Lee asks curious as he is never sure how often his parents speak.
“A few months ago,” Laura reveals. “He had a couple of days leave so he came to see EJ, we talked briefly,” Laura explains, knowing that Bill knew what she was going to be doing to his ship at that point, so he wasn’t happy with her, but didn’t let that show around EJ as that is something they agreed to when they got divorced that no matter what was going on between them they would do their best to keep it away form their kids.
“Right,” Lee says, clearly not sure how to feel about that.
“Lee, your father….” Laura starts to say, trying to start another attempt at the conversation she has had, or tried to have, with her son more than once over the last two years.
“Mom, I’ve got to go,” Lee says, cutting her off and making it clear that he still doesn’t want to talk about his father. “I’ll see you tomorrow, love you,” Lee says to her, speaking quickly so he can get off the phone before his mother tries again to talk about his father.
“Love you too, see you tomorrow,” Laura says before hanging up. After she hangs up the phone Laura sighs, wondering how things are going to go tomorrow, and then heads over to where EJ is, having clearly listened to the conversation that was going on.
“Lee still won’t talk about Dad?” EJ asks, having heard enough of the conversation to realise that, and knowing that Lee has refused to talk to their dad since Zak’s death.
“No, he won’t,” Laura says, knowing that decision hurts Bill and Lee even if her son won’t admit that, as she puts the phone down on the bench.
“So, tomorrow is going to be interesting then,” EJ realises, though she is still looking forward to it, and she has a glimmer of hope that Lee actually seeing their father will cause things to get better between them.
“Really is,” Laura confirms, not looking forward to it as much as her daughter clearly is, and the two of them proceed to make dinner together.

But what makes them extremely deadly is their combo attack Galactica Cannon.

After Sailor Moon, these two are the deadliest. No wonder Pluto was stuck to watch the door of time and Saturn was put into sleep status. These to lovely ladies were never meant to interact without something extremely universe ending happened. Hell their Galactica Cannon is basically a BLACK HOLE! Where life and death and time and space simultaneously meet.

Today's prompt list is: Battleship Grey
Tumblr media
Theme: Television 1. All of this has happened before. 2. Ideas always seem strange until you try them on. 3. The shape of things to come. 4. There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people. 5. "Out-of-the-box" is where I live. 6. What is the most basic article of faith? This is not all that we are. 7. Genesis turns to its source, reduction occurs step wise though the essence is all one, end of line. 8. There is no greater ally, no force more powerful, no enemy more resolved, than a son who chooses to step from his father's shadow. 9. Sometimes a benevolent tyrant is exactly what you need. 10. So, barely competent and paranoid? That's a hell of a combination. 11. Nobody blames the flood. 12. I'm a friendly, okay? We're all friendlies! So, let's just...be friendly! 13. The only problem isn't that he lies - that would be too easy - it's that he mixes lies with truth. 14. But the truth is, if we knew God's will, we'd all be gods, wouldn't we? 15. In war, you can only get killed once. In politics it can happen over and over. 16. We gotta roll the hard six. 17. You can't declare war on love. 18. Good and evil, we created those. Want to break the cycle? Break the cycle of birth, death, re-birth, destruction, escape, death. That's in our hands. In our hands only. 19. I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws; and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. 20. Symbols matter. Uniforms, flags, banners - even mascots. They're like pieces of your heart that you can see. 21. Those things we deem essential, without which we cannot bear living. Without which life in general loses its specific value. Becomes abstract. 22. I will use every cannon, every bomb, every bullet, every weapon I have down to my own eye teeth to end you! 23. "What's the charge this time?" "Striking a superior asshole." 24. All I know is if there is a God, he's laughin' his ass off. 25. "What do you want to do now, Captain?" "The same thing we always do. Fight them until we can't." 26. Whatever else I am, whatever else it means, that's the man I want to be. And if I die today, that's the man I'll be. 27. It's not enough to survive. One must be worthy of survival. 28. You make your choices and you live with them. And in end you are those choices. 29. I just hope... I hope that... people realize, eventually, who I am. 30. So say we all.

we have this war here and it is misery. They are expecting a lot of stuff all the participants in it just isn't coming and they're nuts so we are applaying ourselves and wondering what to do. The forces are fighting in Georgia just South of the border with South Carolina and it's fierce fighting huge cannons are going off Shane numbers of idiots are dying and huge numbers of idiots are going up there from Georgia to South and from here
-the war has gotten so big we have declared world war III has begun and people are now getting ready
-besides this the pseudo empire is fighting the warlock in a deadly war and it's cost bothl size. One of the major prices are paying is there territory both of them are leaving their territories and we are claiming them.
-people are asking what kind of ship is The Jeffersons fly and that's BG. He's been known to be in rebel vehicles rebel ships and small ships the falcons the falcons won and they think that's what the song is about it's not really his design and his craft the design that he has is quite a bit different and it is his personal design and it is not the Prometheus from the movie previous and it's not the pyramid from blade runner and it's not the ships from Battlestar Galactica. And yeah he's a pilot but he is the person who let the ship he flies the ship in the song come sail away and I was very famous what ship it is it's not Boston the band and it's not the ship on the cover. So people want to know and the ship is very close to the one that crash landed on Titan it had senator palpatine and a dead doku on it with Anakin and Anakin piloted it and it rips in half the ship looks like that and that's the Jefferson starship and it might be the one in the movie 2012 and there's kind of star Blazer ships it is the song ships it's definitely what they were and they gathered people to go aboard the ships and they started off now I'm going to start in a big tidal wave and how they started and they fly to the Titan and if Mr Jefferson starship because he's poor and he makes the starship out of ships it's also because Mr Jefferson President Jefferson and that was bja and he's the one who designed these starships the song was just on and it was blaring and it was intense but it fits in with what was going on and it does fit with what is going on today but it's not the ships from the song today but it was pretty intense and they do go up there to tighten and it is part of Star wars and it is part of the end of trump in Warhammer 40,000 k it is where he meets his hand and those ships are full of his robots and they're from all over the world the cargo ships like that and they're only about a mile or two but there's a lot of them and it begins the star blades or segment too and he is flying ships like it but as a gamelan and yeah all this is coming up in and around and during June 4th so it's a month and a week when it's going to happen and it's very important and we are waiting to see we're witnessing a failed invasion yes the pseudo empire did not make it down and they are having more in Georgia they're having a war and that might explain why the Volkswagen comes down and it is a ploy because they want to get information from the empire but really they are probably trying to take Georgia back. And from the West they are also going to approach and they say they're going to try and bring down from there it's something his dad owned an svja bja might bring a camper down and it's a trailer no it's an RV and it's gasoline but it's a really big motor so that's going on possibly and it is the African type looking one
-done there's other things happening too and this is huge so we're going to print

go rush episode 67 spoilers
hi guys, it's me, @polaris-the-north-star!! i had an issue with tumblr and i will be using this blog now for ygo related things now
epoch looks at the card display at the local card store in which little miss mystery is the person at the desk of. the go rush getta whose name escapes me rn tells them all about commander study, which is most definitely manabu and they watch him beat up some randos in duels
manabubu defeats a pair of randos. he then intercepts some guy that really needs to pee in favor of a rush duel and beats an old lady while maguto watches
the children he defeated reluctantly cheer him on as some of epoch's new cards blow away in the wind. manabu with his stupid neo-mik suit thing tries to rush duel epoch i think. she screeches for yuudias and they arrive in time.
ranran and yuudias both challenge manabu, but maguto arrives and provides some exposition abt how he's a fish??? idk but they rush duel each other ig
ranran broadcasts stuff abt the duel and maguto runs HYDRO CANNON BIG BLUEFIN HHHH- MANABUBU STILL HAS HIS MAXIMUM WTF
im just gonna skimp out on duel details like i always do BUT. HE FUCKING FUSES BLUEFIN and uhhhh a while later manabu takes off the mask and they're surprised?? i think
manabu equips pheonix and nyandestar says some stuff and nooooooooo maguto lost but ig he went first so. manabu gets redemtion i think but something stupid like "i just wanted to be appreciated" or smth so racism is solved now yay
the card report was on the bluefin obviously. next time: epoch fights yuuhi without any evildamar stuff i think and EPOCH PLAYS THEM JOEY DICE CARDS WTF so i'm ASSUMING SHE'S GONNA USE THE NEW TIME WIZARD FOR RUSH AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
extra stuff:
maguto has the yuujin va and does say the [insert sentence], tuna thing
i thiink before maguto got tuna'd he had purple hair the same shade as gakuto's unless my eyes played tricks on me
go rush is still trash at redemptions but eh it's a hobbyani so idk
even tho the carded people were brought back the cards still remain so that's why manabu has pheonix. also means that road of galactica is gonna return along with all the other maxes including okeabyss in the tremolo v dinois duel... but maybe zuwijo shared some of that anti-max support
uhhhh maguto is actually a legit normal fish that is in some mechanical body i think

i just spent an hour going through the ace attorney wiki and compiling a doc of every character in the main 6 games and their heights (because hyperfixation). so if you’ve ever wondered which characters you’re the same height as, now you can find out. if a character appears in any of those 6 games and does not appear here, they either don’t have a cannon height or they weren’t on the wiki for that game and i haven’t played it so i didn’t know they existed. if a character is listed as having multiple heights, this is not a mistake on my part this is either a mistake of the guide books or they’ve gotten taller throughout the series.

First Roslin/Adama scene I have ever written.
I am still working on a plan, and need to finish another Battlestar Galactica re-watch before i start to seriously write, but i have written the opening scene for my fanfiction. My plan is for it to be pretty close to cannon (except for the obvious) for the Mini Series and Seasons 1/2, but then things seriously changing from New Caprica. This is the opening scene. I could use feedback because this is my first time writing Roslin/Adama
15 years 11 months before the Fall of the Colony’s.
Desperately hoping that he isn’t too late William ‘Bill’ Adama is running though the Caprica fleet hospital. With how fast he is moving and the look on his face people move out of his way without him needing to say anything, something which Bill doesn’t even realise as he is so focused on his objective. Finally getting to the room he was desperately searching for Bill opens the door and hurries in the second he does he realises that his fear is confirmed, and he was too late.
“I’m sorry,” Bill says as he walks towards the bed where his wife, Laura Roslin, is sitting holding a tiny baby wrapped in a pink blanket, and looking exhausted. “I tied, I…” Bill starts to say, having no idea how to make up for missing what he has missed, staying a few steps back as he doesn’t know how Laura is going to react.
“Bill,” Laura says, her voice full of pain, and sounding almost defeated, making it clear with one simple word that she doesn’t want to hear his excuses. “Come meet your daughter,” Laura says to him, and Bill walks the few steps to the bed.
“Daughter?” Bill asks, as he walks towards Laura, who nods and once he is close enough, he gently takes the tiny baby from her. “Hi sweetheart,” Bill says, his voice full of amazement and as he looks at his daughter, he feels overwhelming love.
“We almost lost her,” Laura reveals, knowing that even though he wasn’t there Bill deserves to know.
“What?” Bill says, looking away from his daughter to look at Laura, his voice full of horror as he can’t imagine never getting to meet his baby girl.
“There were complications, she wasn’t breathing,” Laura reveals. “Cottle worked on her and got her breathing, but it took time,” Laura explains, remembering the terror she felt when she was all alone and though she was going to lose her daughter.
“Is she okay now?” Bill says, looking back as the face of his baby girl.
“She was on oxygen for a few hours, but yes Doctor Cottle says she is going to be okay,” Laura assures him, and as soon as she sees that Laura can see the relief pass over him.
“Good, good,” Bill says, sounding glad. “She’s a strong, just like you,” Bill says, and Laura smiles slightly at that. “She needs a name,” Bill realises, looking at Laura, wondering if she has though about that as he has a few ideas.
“I was thinking we name her after our mothers,” Laura reveals, and Bill smiles as he was thinking the same thing. “EJ, Evelyn Jewel Adama,” Laura suggests. “What do you think?” Laura asks, as she was waiting for Bill to make it official but that’s what she has been calling their little girl.
I can’t keep waiting for you to come home, I can’t keep telling our boys that you’re sorry you’re not around, that you do care, that you’ll be home when you can,” Laura admits, needing to say this now as when she was struggling to give birth to EJ she had a moment of clarity, and she knows that Zak and Lee are constantly hurt by their father not being around, and she doesn’t want them to keep experiencing that pain, she doesn’t want EJ to ever experience it. “You’re my best friend, and we were partners once, but this isn’t working anymore,” Laura admits.
“I know,” Bill admits, as while it is painful for him to admit it, he knows that’s true, and he knows that all he has been doing is letting his family down. “Where does this leave us?” Bill asks, looking at Laura, as he has no idea.
“I don’t know,” Laura admits, as she lays her head on Bill’s shoulder and the two of them drift into silence as they look down at their newborn daughter, neither knowing where they go from here, but both knowing that no matter what happens between them what they want is what’s best for their kids.
