Matthew 25:20 What Are You Doing With Your Talents?
So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ Matthew 25:20 Every person is given things that one can use. These can be given freely, or they can be purchased by self. It is common for people to use what they have for themselves. Time, money and physical things are…

with that said there are characters that a fat maybe not canonically but they are spiritually. to me. they may not be drawn that way but i know whats true. ive seen it like a sort of prophet
#serizawa. send post#he did NOT live his life as a shut in for almost a whole decade to be drawn SKINNY! not by me at least#also like so many characters over the age of 30. no more fit moms and dads GIVE them that divorce body fat NOW!#*strikes you down with the force of god*#but honestly alternative for serizawa that ive always liked is that he gains weight when he starts working for reigen#because he can now go out and eat new foods :D he has actually gained an appetite because he's moving around more#and isnt just eating like instant ramen or whatever his mom brings him#see how easy it is you can just believe it with your heart. you just have to find the ways to make true waht u know#scratchpost#txt

Gabriel’s flock is the closest you’re gonna get to a cult that actually isn’t a cult due to their mostly pacifistic ways
This does cause problems however when dissenters or spies start causing problems
Gabriel is a little backwards with how they deal with people like this, as they simply just kick them out instead of forcing them to to change their ways
Granted if they cause actual problems, like stealing, damage to property, or hurting others: they will get sent to jail
For the most part it’s these individuals choice if they want to stay, Gabriel isn’t forcing them
Doesn’t mean Gabriel can’t get frustrated tho and contemplate “what if I just said fuck it and murdered these people”

Kieran has me in a chokehold. His character arc is so GOOD. You can tell that his bitterness and anger doesn’t just come from everything that’s happened to him recently. It’s pretty obvious that he’s been living in Carmine’s shadow for a LONG time and she’s always kinda treated him badly. But it wasn’t until the player character came along that he was finally able to voice that in his own way;; Just when he thinks he’s made a true friend in someone, someone that can and will stand up to his sister and is able to defeat her in battle (which inspires him to start speaking up for himself more), Carmine steals them away. And that’s a big betrayal to him. He clearly has self esteem issues which leads to him thinking that Carmine was talking shit about him behind his back and getting the player to believe that he wasn’t worth being friends with. And that makes him think both of them were laughing at him and making fun of him. And THEN the player goes and takes the last thing that Kieran has, the last thing he truly cares about: Ogerpon. It’s no wonder he got so frustrated and petty and lashed out 😭 Still breaks my heart to see but they did a really good job showing that progression of him losing more and more of his patience with Carmine. And him generally feeling like everything he cares about is being torn away. And losing to the player over and over just makes things WORSE. He’s not strong enough to beat them, he’s not strong enough to stand up to his sister, he’s not strong enough to be worthy of Ogerpon, he’s not strong. He needs to get stronger. Stronger and stronger and stronger.
GODDDD. He’s going to live rent free in my brain forever now. I can’t wait to see the direction they take with him in The Indigo Disk
#Pokemon#Pokemon SV spoilers#Pokemon Scarlet and Violet#Pokemon DLC spoilers#Kieran#The Teal Mask#Pokemon Kieran#Pokemon SV#Ogerpon#Pokemon Carmine#Also don’t even get me started on his unhealthy attachment to Ogerpon. Probably also due to Carmine and his general upbringing and behavior#AND how he starts to view Ogerpon as more of a tool/object than a living being#When Carmine was like ‘Bro you’re fighting over who gets to keep Ogerpon? Don’t you think you should let OGERPON choose??’#He wasn’t being considerate to Ogerpon’s feelings at all 😭#He probably thought that by getting to keep Ogerpon he’d gain back some sense of control. And also power over the player#God my poor poor boy. I hope things resolve for you in TID#Shima speaks

I'm a Kai Winn apologist but not because I think she's a good person. She's a compelling tragic character
#Winn is a pawn of the prophets#they purposefully did not talk to her#even quark has an orb experience#but the Kai doesn't get one word#she is holding onto her faith by a string and the wormhole aliens put her in that position for their own gain#the prophets are like lol snip snip bitch#they put her through hell because they needed her to bring the reckoning with the pah wraiths#she's ambitious and calculating yeah but she also lived through the worst of the occupation#plenty of people come out of trauma with negative attributes#it doesn't excuse her behavior but maybe it explains some of it#she really does just want what's best for Bajor#through the worst of it she still believes#the prophets are more ambitious cold and calculating than Kai Winn is#her crisis of faith happens because she finally gets word from her gods that she has been loyal to all this time#and it ends up being the pah wraiths and she still struggles to turn to their side#she was written as a grating character and they write her so well#star trek deep space nine#before ds9 goes off my radar for 3 months#Kai Winn#meta#I could have written that as a cohesive post and not a tag essay...

It's always been Curly (Pre-crash Curly x Reader)
Captain Curly, the dependable captain of The Tulpar. That's who he was and will ever be. ... Until you joined The Tulpar.
---
Or; a small look into Curly and his relationship with his name and title, with sprinklings of fluff.
ao3
It's always been Curly. Cur–ly; two syllables, a trip up and down the steps, the natural progression of things, finishing off a dance with a bow. It's Curly from the hiring manager of that fast food place when he'd made it just in time for his interview when he was 18, dressed in a suit; It's Grant from that awkward girl in middle school who decided she liked him after seeing him score a goal, then Curly once she knew him a bit more; It's Captain from his crew, and back to Curly again when they want to get on his good side. He was Curly.
He doesn't know how it all began, but eventually people started to favour his last name. It made sense, though; a name like Curly fits the bill for a dude with golden curls. He didn't mind that shift, either—two syllables always sounded better, together, than one, alone. He was Curly.
Grant is that one person sitting on the seat closest to the pick-up area of a coffee shop that you'd see for half a second when you go to get your drink. Curly is that dependable captain of The Tulpar with a crew that relies on him. Grant is that flower pot bought at a market years ago, left sitting at the back of the closet. Curly is a bundle of flowers packed perfectly in paper from that same market, just a few, more-populated stalls away. He was Curly.
So if that's the case, why do you insist on holding onto Grant so tightly?
When you introduced yourself to him and the crew last minute—courtesy of the Pony Expressyou referred to him as Grant. Grant; one syllable, an unceremonious fall down the stairs, an abrupt stop, finishing off a dance with a trip. He'd been so used to everyone referring to him as Captain or Curly that a single word alone felt similar to when the wind back on Earth would sometimes suddenly pick up and make a mess of his perfectly styled hair. And despite seeing the mess you've made, you'd continue as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Grant this, Grant that. No mention of that blond curly-haired captain, save for the one you were choosing to call Grant at the moment.
It didn't bother him; he didn't let it bother him, not when he had a job to do and bills to pay and a freighter to man. Hell, it wasn't even about your usage of the name as well; just the reasoning behind why when everyone else called him Curly. Though it was starting to become less like a small gust of wind and more like a rocky, thorny, bordering-on-uncomfortable bump in the road, and his brain soon added that train of thought to the things he'd think about when he'd try to sleep.
He eventually cracked one sleepless night down by the kitchenette with you.
There wasn't anything special that triggered it; no mocking tone he'd sooner expect someone like Jimmy to use back at home, just a simple:
“Hey, Grant. Couldn't sleep as well?”
“Why do you call me that?”
He remembers the slight falter in your smile when he’d lost himself. Curly wouldn't start the conversation with that if he decided it was even a good idea to have that conversation at all. Your act wasn't hurting anyone; it was just a name. There was no need to confront you.
Though as much as he hated ever asking and wanted to take it back, to his dismay, you took it on the chin and chuckled. “It's your name.” Your eyes remained on his, your mug clink-clink-clinking as you stirred on it.
“Everyone calls me Curly.”
“Everyone calls you Curly,” you repeated. That's when you dropped your gaze, and he hated how his eyes immediately followed the line of sight down onto your mug, as if desperate to chase it. You continued stirring on your coffee—surely it's at a drinkable temperature by now—and he debated on getting his own cup. It'd be a waste of time to try to sleep now; no way that he wouldn't overthink and repeat this conversation ad infinitum in his mind.
Eventually, you looked up and he met your eyes at an embarrassing speed. His gaze flickered onto your lips when they quirked into a smile, as if you remembered something funny. You then, with a gentle hand, slid your mug over to him.
“What if Grant gets lonely?”
That was the stupidest thing you could've said.
After all, weren't Grant and Curly the same person? Why the need for that distinction? That's when he realised your eyes were still meeting his; unwavering, curious. You weren't looking at the curly blond hair, the Pony Express uniform, or the body he'd worked so hard to get—just his eyes.
Grant wanted to laugh—actually, he did laugh, it seemed, when a chuckle bubbled out of him.
“That makes no sense.”
He reached for the mug you offered and took a sip. Then, he lowered his cup to speak, his voice softer this time:
“...But I'm sure Grant appreciates the company.”
That was the stupidest thing he could've said. You told him as such with your own chuckle.
“I'll keep on sticking by Grant, then.”
His eyes flickered onto your lips again, and it became abundantly clear that you’d grin every time you said the name Grant; first, an ‘o’ shape with your mouth for the ‘gr’, then you'd widen the shape for ‘an’—before finally grinning to enunciate the ‘t’. Grant; one syllable, a hop down the stairs, a period in a sentence, finishing off a dance with the last step. He teared his eyes away and brought the mug to his lips again, a faint heat rising to his cheeks, but it was too late; now he wouldn't be able to stop noticing your smile every time you said his name or the way you said it.
Ever since then, every time he'd hear a “Grant!” he'd turn his head that way—no longer out of a sense of obligation, but because he wanted to. Because maybe if he turned fast enough he'd catch a glimpse of your smile mid-Grant… But then he'd probably turn his head right back, eyes wide in a panic, because oh god he's not supposed to be anticipating his crewmate’s smile like this.
He’ll think about the implications of his feelings as the captain of The Tulpar later, but for now… It's not so bad being Grant.
#captain curly#curly x reader#mouthwashing x reader#captain curly x reader#curly x you#captain curly x you#oh my god the mouthwashing ray got to me#OK LIKE SERIOUSLY. THEY NEVER MENTION CURLY'S FIRST NAME EVER.#very reminiscent of how curly doesnt like to open up#and how he's not really a person in jimjam's eyes; only a status he gains when he takes his place post-crash#idk idk man idk#anyway enjoy :) i hope to write more about him soon hopefully#if my hyperfixation doesnt fade#mouthwashing curly#x reader

patrick saying his we made it moment is seeing people stay for saturday is making me feel sooo insanely emotional because it’s like. such a personal metric of success?? like. saturday was never a big hit, but they chose to end every show with it years ago anyways. even when they could see people leaving during it, they chose to keep playing it. because it meant something to Him and to Them, and to the diehard fans too. and just imagining, as time goes on, seeing people choosing to stay. actively seeing peoples opinions and hearts change over time and decide that its worth it to stay, to feel the love and importance that song holds for the band. it’s beyond just a symbolic show that your music is resonating with people and making it into their hearts- people staying Literally shows that. all us believers still believe everytime we sing two more weeks, y’know? and with every show, maybe they’re picking up more believers. and That is how patrick measures his success— in how many people are choosing to believe and to stay.
#sorry for the long ramble i just got to thinking abt it and that is just truly such a beautiful personal way to quantify success#is how many people show up and stay. crowds are won and lost and won again but our hearts beat for the diehards#and theyre constantly gaining more diehards. theyre constantly getting people to care. god#just by being their authentic true selves!!! by doing what they want and what they love!!! augh!!!#txt#p: 100

Someone suggested sumo Guzma, so I just had to ;P
He doesn't remember (or care) much about what Alolan Sumo actually is - he's just using it as an excuse to literally throw his weight around. He kinda just treats it like a regular ass street fight and plays a little too dirty. He's WINGING it, ok?
(version without the belt tassels under the cut cos it hides so much thigh that would be cruel to miss out on after i spent ages drawing it)

i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you
#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what#allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of#the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than#to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do#im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt#take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was#mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their#mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that#explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain#direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in#arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to#engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out#theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive#a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked#picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing#sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example#for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war#is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old#wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for#steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with#especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can#look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never#treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time#but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made#feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them#accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me#yapping#diary

The last DeVir and the forgotten Baenre. Two noble drow forever exiled from their homes and abandoned by Lolth.
#bg3#baldur's gate 3#minthara#minthara baenre#evil murder kitten#viconia devir#it's funny to think that at one point in her life minthara admired viconia and was impressed by her rebellion#and the more i learn about viconia in the previous games#the more i understand why minthara would admire her but also see her as a coward#viconia openly and willingly defied lolth fully understanding the consequences of what would come from it - but ran away#whereas minthara's hand was forced away from lolth by the absolute - but was still abandoned all the same (or so minthara thinks)#it's also interesting to see how viconia goes to willingly embrace shar - a god who has many similarities to lolth#and even demands that she use and abuse a child - which is peak irony as child murder is why she defied lolth in the first place#but minthara comes to shun them all and only sees benefit in the gods if there is something to gain#but even minthara thinks it best that shadowheart turns from shar in the end#i know fans of viconia regard bg3's portrayal of her as a character assassination and i don't disagree#but idk i feel like viconia's story could be a glimpse into one of minthara's many futures#especially considering that minthara is a deeply religious person and wants to have a god to worship

i do not remotely mean this as in insult to the bells, but to me, even before c3 began, i knew it was never going to be a story that would survive on or deserved to be about one party. critical role would have gone stale if it went on much longer as it was, with just its og cast, and you could feel it brimming with understanding of massive events - changes of reality & its own fictional world - on the horizon. i know the concept of a "crossover" story with a staggering number of central characters is inherently risky, but i genuinely think one of c3's biggest strengths is just that.
avalir needed to be presented during c3's runtime, a precursor to past calamity as exandria entered a new one; aeors story needed to be told in this campaign, the apex of mortality's fall in the past as the war for ruidis began to fever pitch in the now; the bells hells needed "guest" stars that truly became their own party members, more than just the og white cast, so many people surviving as nobodies in apocalypse beyond those you expected to take up the call; the crown keepers needed to parralel the bells (hell, they are the bells), infinite parties thrown to slaughter by war when all they wanted was friendship, with hope still deep within them to return to each other; the mighty nein & vox machina & their cohorts needed to push & bear witness to the bells, analyze their own dynamics with power and what it means to be a hero/leader in a time where that isnt clear cut and comes at severe cost not measured in these ways in their campaigns; and most importantly the bells needed - and as of recently chose - to be thrust into being heralds of history. their story was built on heartbreak of being crushed under the boot of other's hero journeys (the story emphasizing that while they got caught in fate, they arent alone in that fate of being "unimportant"), and so it is in the campaigns lifeblood to provide them the chance to look at the tapestry in a way no other can, to bear the tragedy of being the sacrificial lamb and deciding what sacrifices of the world & themselves to make in turn, especially in a campaign that is blatantly asking the question of what is worth it to be in an imperialisically-designed fantasy universe where thousands are not seen as important to the pov of the hero.
#i feel in some way matt always wanted this to happen. hes hinted at a massive universal shift of an event since *episode 43* of campaign 1#and it's made more prominent by a) gaining many new friends & perspectives and b) a shifting space where dnd is heavily critiqued#to me campaign 3 HAD to evolve and be more than the original 8 and just one party of stereotypical heroes#it HAD to break molds to be *worth* something. at least to their eyes#and by god. are they doing that#critical role#critical role meta#campaign 3#long post#van speaks

Holy cow there’re a lot and I really do mean A LOT of Welcome Home AUs, and more coming too. Not saying it’s a bad thing, but it makes sense considering WH doesn’t have a lot to work with so it leaves tons of room for fans to play around with. I just hope it doesn’t get outta hand like what happened to Undertale with its AUs.
People are free to have creative liberty on what aus they wanna make- like you said there is very little canon content to munch on so people will pull a “fine I’ll do it myself” JCHFHDHU-
I personally don’t mind it as well, but I do enjoy the aus where they purposely change Wally’s height just to make him more simp-able LMAOO
#Personally all my aus (like 3-4-? Honestly kinda just one aka mob the others are off brands LMAO) Wally are all still the same height#Except Yakuza Wally#He’s a single apple taller#Used god like powers to gain a single inch of height#Home wouldn’t allow any more smhhhhhh#Iv seen a lot of aus but personally I’m a big fan of the more jokey/light hearted non serious ones#Like this one whole au is just Wally being high LMAOOOO#Iv been tempted to make a au just called “Wally commits tax evasion/fraud” for like two weeks now#Oh I also love gangster au (joke au please don’t take this seriously) from toonz#Stunning amazing brilliant perfect show stopping-#More serious is probably greyscale#Mostly cause one: dadpa biased-#And two it’s a really cool concept with hella lotta drama for it (gotta love me some broken ass peeps)#But yeah as long as people don’t start making really sus aus/breaking clowns boundaries in the au verse we should be fine#Cause lort fuggin knows that they will be harassed to oblivion for it JDHDHDDH
