New TWDG AU because i love making AU.
This time the AU is
TWDG x LIS
Tumblr media
People with powers : Clem, Javier
Javier's power : Super Speed
Due to his trauma of not being there when his dad died
Those who know for Javier (order of finding out) : Kate, Gabe, Mari, Clem, David
Clem's power : Location (will evolve throught the season) due to her trauma of losing her parent at the start of the apo (+ all other deaths)
s1 : She can see/feel the location of everyone she meet in her mind map. Even as walker she can feel them but to a lesser degree than when they were alive. She can see/feel their whole body in what position they are (so when Lee cut his arm, she will feel it)
s2 : Her power evovle to include her being able to astral project herself anywhere someone she know is.
s3 : Her power evolve to also add teleportation to anywhere someone she know is.
(The draw back stays the same: the farther it is, the more it hurt.)
Those who know for Clem (order of find out ) : Lee, Kenny, Luke, David, Javier, AJ

hi!! could you do reader formerly apart of the motel group that was presumed dead (maybe lost in the bandit raid?) settling in at ericsons’s eventually a few years after and reuniting with clem in s4? it’s random and oddly specific but I hope you find it interesting enough to pursue! thanks :)
A/N: Hello!! I’d be happy to, I hope you like it!:) This kinda reminded me of Michonne and Jocelyn in TWD (minus the kidnapping kids part…) because I was rewatching S9 lol
Warnings: Assumption of death, Usual TWDG stuff
Clementine x Reader
Tumblr media
If she was being honest, Clementine had completely forgotten about you. Maybe not completely, if someone randomly said your name she’d remember-but still, not a lot. You were a memory she’d shoved in the back of her head, forgotten but still there. She thought you’d died a long time ago.
You on the other hand, never stopped thinking a bout her. Not just Clementine, but the whole group. You forgot some people’s names, but remembered Clem’s because of how unique it was.
You’d been through countless groups since then, most had either died or just split up slowly. You made many friends along the way but none you remembered as well as Clementine.
One day, Clem was playing war with Louis and Violet.
“Alright, I get to ask Clem now.” Louis said.
He coughed before speaking.
“Someone you remember from an old group?”
Clem thought about it for a bit. They all knew about Lee, Kenny, and now obviously Lilly. She kept thinking, almost like sifting through files in her mind. She’d told them stories about basically everybody-then she remembered you.
“Hm, well there was this person in my first group. They were my friend. I miss them, they died during a raid from bandits that I told you guys about earlier.”
The table went silent.
Then, it was broken by yelling. Rosie began barking.
The three shot up and ran towards the gate.
Clem could make out 3 shadows. Two of which she knew was Aasim and Mitch. The other stood hunkered down between the two.
“We found Them Right outside the old safe zone.”
Clem walked farther towards them.
Her eyes widened when she realized.
It was you.
“Y/N?”
“Clementine?”
You both ran to hug each other, memories instantly flooding back.
“I thought you were dead.”
“I thought you were, too.”
The high of seeing an old friend quickly warned off when you both noticed your best friends, parental figures even, weren’t with either of you. You both assumed the worst.
-
You and Clem spent hours that night catching up.
Clem told you about Christa and Omid, The cabin group, Carver, Arvo, The new frontier, Javi and Gabe, Finding A.J.
You told her about the groups and people you’d met, bad people you’d run into before, anything you could remember.
Clementine was happy to have you back. To have someone who understood the first few months of the apocalypse for her was like.

"My parents are going to Savannah next week." Your friend says.
"Woah really?" She nods.
"Yep. And they will be leaving me with Sandra."
You think "Do you think Sandra will let us have sleepovers?"
"Probably. She is really nice. But you have to ask your (parent) first."
"I will."
"(Name)!" You peek your head out of the tree house's window and see your friends mom.
"Yeah?" "Your (parent) is here."
Your friend lets out a sad sigh.
"You have to go?" You nod.
"Will you come tomorrow?" She asks.
"Of course." You say as you start climbing down the ladder.
Before you run out of the yard you look back to wave at your friend.
"See you tomorrow Clementine!"
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
A few days have passed since (Name) and others arrived at the school. There were no signs of Delta for now.
For a bunch of kids, you have to admit, they did a hell of a job. Clementine was a great leader too. When the Delta attack came, they would be prepared.
Even though their mind should be on that right now, (Name) couldn't stop thinking about their dream. Was it really Clementine who was her old friend? Or was it a coincidence they dreamt about her name? They weren't exactly sure.
For now, they were enjoying a peaceful slumber, with no worries.
"(-me), (Name) wake up!" (Name) jolts up and looks at the person waking them up.
"What the fuck Gabe?!"
"Ruby's here. Said it's breakfast time and that she needs to check your wound." He says.
They looked behind Gabe and saw Ruby holding a first aid kit. "Hey, Ruby." "Hey (Name)."
Gabe left while Ruby checked on them.
"So how is it?" They asked.
"Well, you're not gonna die, that's for sure." Ruby chuckled.
They rolled their eyes "Good to know."
Ruby looked at them, seeing that they look distracted.
"Hey, you okay?" She touched their arm.
They looked at her "Yeah. Just lot on my mind right now. Waiting for the attack isn't helping either." They smiled.
Ruby nodded "Yeah I get it. Come on, let's go eat. Whatever Omar made smelled delicious. "
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Good morning everyone."
"Morning (Name)."
They sat down next to Javier after grabbing a bowl.
"Wound good?" He asked them. They nodded.
This time actually listening to the conversations, they kept glancing at Clementine. They weren't sure if they should ask her something to make sure if it's her or not.
The constant glancing didn't go unnoticed by Clementine. She didn't know why (Name) was always looking at her and she was growing really frustrated. Whenever she turned to look at them, they would immediately look away.
Clementine finally grew tired of it and spoke up.
"Sorry to interrupt you Willy. (Name), can you come with me for a second." Clementine ordered more than asked.
Everyone stopped eating and stared at them. The tension was easy to detect.
'Shit.'
They got up and followed Clementine anxiously outside of the music room.
Clementine stopped and turned around to face them, crossing her arms.
"What's your deal?" She asked (Name).
(Name) avoided looking at her "What do you mean?"
Clementine rolled her eyes and stepped closer to them.
"You know what I mean. You keep looking at me and have been doing it since day one. So are you gonna tell me or not?" She raised her eyebrows.
(Name) let out a sigh.
"Sorry if I weird you out." They looked at the girl in front of them. She raised her eyebrows and motioned for them to continue.
"Did you have a tree house at your house maybe? With a tire swing?"
Clementine looked shocked at the girl.
"Yeah. I did. How do you know that?"
'Holy shit maybe it's actually her!'
A smile started to appear on their face.
"And did your parents leave for Savannah before the whole Muertos shit?" They asked.
"What the fuck?" Clementine looked confused. How would they know that?
They laughed and launched at the girl who had no idea what was happening.
"Ok so obviously you don't remember me but we were best friends! I came to your house every day and played in your tree house! Holy fuck I can't believe I didn't recognize you!" They pulled away to look at her.
She still looked very confused.
"I had this little white dog and you would go walk her with me when it got darker because I was scared of the dark." They rambled hoping that something helped her remember them. "And that one time we chased her thru the whole block because the leash broke. And some old ladies yelled at us."
Something finally clicked in Clementine's head.
"Holy shit." A smile started appearing on her face. "Holy shit!" She finally let out a laugh.
"(Name)!" This time she was the one who launched at them.
"I can't believe this!" "Me neither!"
They pulled away from each other.
(Name) looked Clementine up and down, taking a closer look at her now more mature face.
"You're hot." They blurted out.
Clementine started laughing and they joined in.
"What? I was only making an  observation!"
Clementine also took a closer look at their face. They changed a lot, probably why she didn't recognize them.
Hearing the laughter, the group inside grew curious and went to see what was happening. They certainly didn't expect to see the two hugging rambling like they are friends who haven't seen eachother in ages.
AJ looked from one to another, not sure what was happening.
"What's going on?" (Name) turned to the group and smiled widely at AJ.
They approached him, got down to his level and hugged him.
"Little dude you're like the best."
"What did I do?"
They let him go "You helped me find out who my my best friend was!" With that said AJ smiled as well.
"I did?! What is her name?!"
By now everyone was putting two and two together. Shocked by it, they looked at Clementine and (Name) with wide eyes and jaws on the floor.
Looking back they gave her best friend a gentle smile.
"Clementine."

Can you do like Clementine suffering a concussion and memory loss and the Garcia’s try to bring her memory back? Like u did with the season 2 group please? Characters: Javier Kate David and Eleanor.
Title: Memories Are Never Lost Plot: Clementine suffers a concussion with memory loss and the Garcias need to try to bring her memory back. Characters: Clementine, Javier, Kate, Gabe, David, Eleanor. Trigger Warnings: Head injury, memory loss, concussions. Notes: This was so fun to write buddy!! Thank you so much for the request :') ━━ ☼ ━━ 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘮 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 💌☕️♡ ━━ ☼ ━━
The world felt fuzzy and heavy, and as she attempted to open her eyes, the ringing in her ears snapped to an all-time high.
Clementine groaned, moving one of her hands to shield her eyes from whatever light was streaming into the shack’s tiny room. She didn’t know what room she was in. She didn’t even know why she was in whatever room it was. All she could tell, based on light, was that it wasn’t her bedroom.
“How are you doing, kid?”
Clementine groaned again, the soft voice feeling insanely loud in comparison to the quietness of the room. “Ugh, please don’t yell.”
There was a brief moment of silence. “Nobody’s yelling, Clem.”
Finally, the teen could creep her eyes fully open, adjusting to the dimness of the room. On every side of her sat someone, but she didn’t recognize them. She didn’t know why they were there.
Clem paused, confused and squinting. “What’s going on?”
“You gave your head a pretty good whack.”
Clementine tried to sit up and groaned again, placing a palm against her forehead. Gabe dipped forward, trying to help ease her into a sitting position. She stared at the person quizzically, unable to place them. “How?”
“You were trying to get a better vantage point for watch duty and slipped off the ladder.” David commented.
Again, Clementine squinted, but the pressure on her forehead hurt, and she winced the facial expression away. “Vantage point?”
The other adult male raised an eyebrow, a look Clem could barely make out as she slowly opened her eyes again. Javi hesitantly answered, “Yeah, for your watch tower shift.”
“Watchtower?” Clementine adjusted the hat on her head, confused as to why she even had a hat on if she was seemingly recovering from a head injury. “And why didn’t you take this off?”
The woman, Kate, frowned. “Clem, you never let anyone take your hat off.”
“I had to take it off to get a look,” a woman piped up from the other end of the room — Eleanor — before continuing. “But these guys insisted I put it back on before you woke up.”
Clem hesitated, not wanting to move her head too fast and have the aching return. “Why?”
Finally, the group looked at one another, and the teen boy who had helped her sit upright slid back into his seat.
“Clem, do you remember anything?”
Clem. She assumed that was her name. “Uh,” she started, trying to find the words. “No?”
Javier said nothing, just leaned back in his chair, pressing his palms into his eyes, distressed. After a beat, he sighed through his nose.
“Oh my god,” Kate whispered, nervously biting down on one of her nails. Gabe and David remained silent, just staring at her and averting their eyes the moment she turned to them.
Clementine didn’t move her head, but her eyes darted around the room, garnering the reaction of everyone and attempting to understand the vibe of the room. “What?”
Eleanor scoffed. “They’re just upset that you can’t remember them.”
Clementine scowled, ignoring the stress occurring in her temple from the movement. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I know,” Eleanor said through a sigh. It was only spiking Clementine’s frustration. “They just care about you. A lot. You’re like family to them.”
“I’m not actually family?”
“Of course you are!” Javi piped in.
“No.” Eleanor said at the same moment. Javi shot her a glare, but she continued despite it. “They took you in when they realized you were alone.”
“Alone?” The statement seemed to shock Clementine. She sat further upright, causing Gabe to shuffle uncomfortably, worrying about her overworking herself.
Kate and Javi exchanged glances. David looked to the ground. After all, he wasn’t there when they came across her. It was up to them to break the news to the teen.
Javi cleared her throat and rubbed his hands together. “Your parents died, and you were alone for a few years. When we came across you, we got you too,” he hesitated again, “join us.”
Clementine’s expression grew cold and confused. “I don’t understand.”
“I don’t blame you,” Kate furthered, leaning in, finally able to offer some comfort to a chilling conversation. “It’s confusing.”
Eleanor glanced at the group from the corner of her eyes, busy dealing with sterilizing various instruments she had at her disposal. While she never really cared for Clementine and her attitude, her heart slightly ached for the family. She could only imagine how devastating this was for all of them.
“I’m Kate. That’s Gabe, Javi, and David. That’s Eleanor, our community’s doctor.” Eleanor didn’t look up from her work, just switched to disinfecting something else in her tiny corner of the room.
“So, why are you guys here?”
Kate blinked, confused. “What do you mean?” Now, David leaned in, resting his elbows on his knees.
“Well,” Clem shrugged. “If you just found me somewhere, why are you here? Right now?”
“Why wouldn’t we be?” Javi asked. Was this what she always thought? Was this what she believed before?
Clementine raised a brow, still confused. Only then did David jump in. “You don’t need to be blood-related to be family.”
“Yeah,” Gabe furthered. David glanced at him and smiled, nodding and encouraging him to continue. “Like AJ.”
Clem hesitated, her eyes widening and then falling at the mention of the name. “AJ,” she murmured to herself, as though somewhere in her banged-up head, the name rang a small bell.
Gabe’s eyes widened, turning to the rest of their group, hoping this was a sign that they were making some progress. Javi smiled, nodding, encouraging him to continue.
“Clem,” Kate began. “Do you remember who AJ is?”
“AJ,” again, was all Clementine could muster, her voice trailing off. The gears were turning, and everyone in the room could tell. Eleanor, hearing this, abandoned the task of cleaning her tools and lingered nearby, wanting to watch what unfolded.
Kate nodded excitedly. “Yes! AJ.”
“He was like a brother to you.”
“Like a brother?” Clementine seemed confused. The name made a connection, but the purpose for the name hadn’t yet.
Javi leaned in, tugging his chair closer to the edge of her bed. “You took him in too. He was all alone, and you took him in as your own.”
“No blood relation.” Clementine said. Bit by bit, she seemed to be understanding what they were getting at. She was slowly starting to understand, and the Garcias were excited about the prospect.
“But you were his sister. You were all he had. For years.” Kate furthered.
“Do you remember?” David asked. “How much he loved you?”
“How much you loved him?” Javi continued. He turned to David, smiling and nodding, thankful for his support.
“AJ,” Clementine trailed off again. She closed her eyes. “Is he still,” she paused, “is he still at the ranch?”
Javi and Kate shot up, turning and glancing at each other. That was a breakthrough. She remembered the ranch, even if she didn’t remember the atrocities that occurred there.
“No, no. He’s out of there.” Kate assured her.
“You guys got out of there a while ago. You saved him.” David explained.
“So,” Clementine’s eyes opened, voice wavering. “Where is he?”
David gulped, glancing at the rest of the group before answering. “He’s here. Close, at least. He’s a little beaten up. He’s being taken care of.”
Clem closed her eyes again, as though she was in pain. “He doesn’t deserve that.”
Again, Gabe turned to look at the group, shocked that AJ was their key to getting Clem’s memory back. “You’re right. But he’s safe now.”
Clementine opened her eyes and turned to Gabe, eyes glassy and full of emotion. It felt like the puzzle pieces were slowly sliding, piece-by-piece. “Did you guys help?”
Kate gave a sad smile. “Of course we did.”
“We weren’t going to let you handle all of that alone.” David said. “You’ve had enough of that.”
“Just like now.” Javi assured. “You’re not going through this alone, either.”
Eleanor watched from the other end of the room, arms crossed, as the family attempted to spark Clementine’s memory. They relished on adventures they had gone on, obstacles they’d overcome, and, most importantly, AJ.
Eleanor cracked a faint smirk, gradually turning to her station. At least she didn’t need to worry about Clementine never getting her memory back. She had a family of people behind her, ensuring that would never become reality.

Do you know what I needed in the last season?
Clementine telling her stories about the past.
Like, telling Aj about his family, telling the Kids how to maintain a little city, telling them MORE about Kenny, Lee, Javier, Jane, etc. I needed more of that.

Look Into My Eyes. Gabriel Imagine (Male!reader)
You were back from a dangerous hunt. A vengeful spirit burned down a house; sadly in the house, there was a mother and her child, you tried to save them but you couldn’t, and you watched the mother trying to break the window upstairs to get out with her son in her arms, but she couldn’t get out. You told yourself that you couldn’t do anything, and it’s true, if you would’ve gone back there, you would be dead by now, too.
But no matter how much and how hard you tell this to yourself, you can’t help but feel guilty.
“Want a drink?” Asked Dean. You shake your head; you didn’t feel like drinking, you didn’t feel to do anything at all.
“I’m heading to bed. Night” You look at Dean then at Sam and turn around, walking to your room.
That’s when you close the door behind you that everything came at the same time. You felt like fading like your room was on fire. But you could do anything, the air leaving your lungs, tears falling, images of the hunt and the mother and the child dying came, you sit down on the ground, your head between your hands, trying to calm your heart and mind.
You found yourself praying to Gabriel to help you, hoping that he would hear it. You couldn’t scream for Sam nor Dean, not that they would hear you, your room way too far from the library. Your vision was blurry, your head was spinning, and you were exhausted, you had to fight against your brain, and this was not easy.
When Gabriel heard your prayer, he immediately came to your room, only to find you on the ground, barely breathing. He ran to you, trying to make you focus on him.
“Y/N, look at me. Just focus on me.” Gabriel put your hand on his chest. “Look at me, feel my heartbeat, copy my breath. In and out. Focus on me.” After some minutes you found yourself breathing at the same time as Gabriel, your heartbeat back to normal. You close your eyes and sigh. “Thanks.”, “You okay? What happened?” you tried to answer but coming down from a panic attack was always exhausting. “Bad hunt, nasty one. Enough to trigger the attack.”, “I’m right here; I’m not leaving.” You looked up at Gabriel only to find him looking at you with concern. “Thanks.” You put your head on his shoulder, and he had his arm around you.
This night you explain everything to him, your story and why this hunt was wrong, your sister died in a fire, this night you poured your heart out to an Angel, an Archangel, but also the one that makes your heart skip a beat but also knows how to calm it. This night Gabriel let you cry in his arms all the tears you buried for years.

A/N: i hope you enjoy this! it certainly brought a smile to my face despite the angst.
im not really happy with my writing in this chapter, but...
wait. i liked the chapter but not the writing. how crazy it sounds?
@ohsnapitzmoony @sandsailer @allthingssweetness
if anyone wants to be reminded when there’s an update, just let me know and I’ll tag you here, :)
Summary: After things settle down in Richmond, Clementine is ready to go look for AJ once again. But she’s not going alone.
1 | 2 | 3
building for tomorrow
Usually the smartest thing to do when a herd is involved, Clem knows, is to find a way to run from it. Put as much distance from the walkers as possible.
But she would never run if facing a herd is what stands between her and being reunited with AJ. She needs the goofball back, can’t pretend she doesn’t. It’s been too long. More than enough.
She wonders, for a brief, painful moment, if this is how Lee felt when she was kidnapped in Savannah. No matter how long it’s been behind her, she wouldn’t be able to forget the strange man who kept a walker head inside a bag. Used to speak with it, too. It makes her shiver just by thinking back.
“What’re we going to do to get through them?” Gabe asks in a small, quiet voice. He’s learning fast, she thinks with a smile. A walker can still smell them if it gets close enough, but she’s damn sure it won’t hear them.
“Let me think for a minute,” she answers, her voice barely more than a whisper.
Killing the walkers one by one is out of question. She remembers doing it more than once before, but only when there are ten walkers tops.
Old-fashioned method of covering themselves in guts could work, but they’d need to get close to at least one walker first. That didn’t seem like a very likely option when the things are all huddled up together, shouldering past each other against the fences of the ranch.
Gabe nudges her shoulder, a thoughtful expression on his face, but says nothing.
“What?” she asks, exasperated.
“Well, I think I…I have an idea. How good are you at climbing?”
Clementine sighs. “Climbing what?”
“Trees,” Gabe answers with a shrug, his cheeks coloring a little. He gestures around them with one hand before saying, “There are tons of trees surrounding us. If we use them, we can get past the fences and into the ranch.”
This time, it’s her face that colors slightly. “I had a treehouse, before the walkers. And…and when L—I mean, when I first found survivors, I was hidden up in the trees. But it’s been a long time.”
“You think we can try, though?”
“I don’t really think we have other options,” she says with a sigh, running her hands over her face. When they start preparing to climb the nearest tree, she blurts, “You know, I once met this woman. Molly, I think. She was a great climber. She had this tool that helped her around, and she even named it.”
Gabe jumps up and up and up in the tree, offering her a hand all the while. “Yeah? What happened to her?”
Just don’t think about what you’re doing, she tells herself, repeating it like a mantra. It doesn’t matter that it’s been a long time, she still can do this sort of thing.
“I have no idea,” she answers Gabe, focusing on their conversation. “She left our group without saying anything. Never heard of her again.”
“That’s a good thing,” he tells her with a small smile, encouraging her to keep going. “Means she can still be alive, right?”
“Yeah, maybe.” When her eyes search for the ranch again, she has to suppress a gasp. They moved a lot, and are definitely getting closer to their destination, the herd and AJ. “But there’s something I know for sure—the last time I was on a farm, it was bad. So be prepared for anything.”
“Bad?” Gabe’s voice wavers. He clears his throat the next second, and she smiles at how he really wants to look strong. “How bad? What I should be prepared for?”
“Anything,” she repeats. “I mean it.”
He nods. “But what happened?”
“I…we were starving. There just wasn’t any food left, and people were starting to fight,” she tells him, closing her eyes for a moment when the memories threaten to overwhelm her. “Until this family appears, out of nowhere. They wanted to trade something—gas, I think. They swore they had lots of food, enough to feed our entire group for months.”
When she pauses, her eyes still closed, her body refusing to move to the next tree, Gabe approaches her quietly. He touches her hand with his, just a small sort of contact.
“And then?”
“We went with them, of course,” she continues. “Once we got on the farm, they wanted help with some things. It was fine. But…but then a guy got hurt. The family said they would help him, make sure he got better. But when we asked if we could stay with him, see if he was alright, they wouldn’t let us. My—uh…Lee…one of the guys in our group figured out what was happening by the time dinner was served.”
“What dinner has to do with anything?”
Clementine smirks at him—though there is hardly any humor in her face. “He—the injured man—was dinner. If it weren’t for Lee, I’d have eaten his flesh and never realized the truth.”
All color leaves Gabe’s face—and he swallows one, two, three times.
“What?!” he asks in a shrill, high-pitched voice. “The guy was dinner!”
“Keep your voice down,” she hisses, eyes flying to the herd again. It’s so much closer to them, but the walkers are still unaware of their presence. Dinner.
“But they ate a person!” Gabe exclaims, though his voice lowers a little. “How—why—I mean…why would someone eat a person?”
Clementine shrugs. “It doesn’t matter. I only said that to prove a point—which is, keep your eyes open and stay sharp. We don’t know what we’re going to find on that ranch.”
Though Gabe remains silent, she can almost hear his thoughts—I don’t want to become dinner, I don’t want to be eaten…
She didn’t find it funny back then—and she really doesn’t find cannibalism funny now either—but it’s…amusing how life can suck sometimes. It’s like they have two choices—be eaten by a dead monster who was human once upon a time; or be eaten by someone that’s still human but acts like a monster.
Their conversation is cut short when they reach the fence, the walkers right under their feet. Clem barely breathes at all. She looks at Gabe in the eye, and gestures for him to start climbing to the inside of the property.
He does, his face pale and sweaty. The moment his feet hit the ground with a dull thud!, she smiles.
But when it’s her turn, one of her legs is already over the fence and her heartbeat is crazy and—
A walker grabs her ankle. And tugs her down, surprisingly strong for someone whose limbs are pretty much rotten.
She wants to scream. But still, her instincts are stronger, and her mouth just hangs open, no sound coming out at all. If she screams, more walkers will notice her. And if that happens, it’s over. She’s done.
But she isn’t done just yet.
Something—someone, possibly Gabe—kicks the walker through the fence and pulls her to him at the same time, successfully saving her from the walker’s clutches.
Or kind of.
Since the thing’s hand is still attached to Clementine’s ankle. She kicks it angrily with her free leg, and the hand lands on the other side of the fence, in the middle of the walkers. They are not even startled by it, the stupid things.
“Damn,” she whispers, taking a deep breath. When she looks at Gabe, he’s completely unsettled, staring at the walkers, breathing in ragged puffs of air. “Gabe, it’s okay now. Thanks. You…thanks.”
He shakes his head. “I-I n-never touched one of t-them before.”
Carefully, Clementine wraps her hand around his, trying to ground him to reality. When it doesn’t work, she tiptoes a little to get taller and kisses his cheek.
She’s careful not to allow it to last more than three seconds, but it has the desired effect nonetheless—Gabe stops staring at the walkers to move his bewildered gaze to her, and his face colors.
“Wow…” he says, touching his cheek with two fingers. “Can you do it again?”
Clementine blushes—but still manages to roll her eyes at him. “Yeah, maybe some other time. If you’re lucky.”
Sometimes, she feels like Jane is still with her. Whispering what to do, how to act around boys. It’s…scary. But she’s grateful for Jane’s presence. Real or imaginary.
“Come on now,” she says, gesturing to the ranch ahead of them. The path is clear, every walker behind them. For now. She has no idea how long the fence will hold them—her history with fences is that they’re never really good—but it’ll have to do. The mission is go to the ranch, take AJ, get out, go back to Richmond. Easy.
After they’ve walked for a while—and the small, wooden house is near—Gabe whispers, “It’s super quiet now, isn’t it? I can’t hear the muertos anymore.”
“Better this way.” She shrugs. “But if it makes you feel better, we’ll need to get past them again once we grab AJ.”
“Yeah, it doesn’t make me feel better at all.”
“We can check the barn later, see if there’s a car here or something. I need a car anyway.”
Gabe pauses—and when she stops walking to look at him, he’s staring at the ground like it was personally responsible for every bad thing that ever happened to him.
“Gabe?”
“You’re going to leave, then?” he asks—almost accuses her, the hurt flowing freely in his voice. “After everything…after everything we’ve been through, you’re just going to leave us?”
“No!” she exclaims, raising her hands. “I just…of course I won’t leave. Javi already made me promise to stay. It’s just that having a car is important. I’ve been looking for one—this way, I can go to other places more safely. Get supplies. And stuff.”
“Not like it matters to me anyway,” he mutters, shouldering past her. “Let’s just…keep walking.”
Clementine frowns and runs to catch up with him. “Gabe, I’m really not going to leave. Why are you acting like that?”
“You’re not going to leave because Javi asked you to stay. Even…even if Kate asked, you’d probably listen to her.”
“Yeah. I would. And that’s a bad thing because—?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“It clearly does!”
He comes to a halt, almost making her run into his back. When he turns to finally look at her, Clementine can swear there are tears in his eyes.
“It…I’m just never enough, am I? If I asked…it’d be different,” he mumbles, covering his face with both hands. “Look at how well it went I asked Dad to stay. People just…people just don’t stay for me.” His accent gets thicker the more nervous he gets—and by the end of his last sentence, Clementine can barely hear what he’s saying.
But she does hear his words. And it hurts her to see someone like that. Especially because, really, she doesn’t understand it. If people are staying, they are staying. It doesn’t matter who asked.
Gabe reminds her of Sarah—so easily hurt, so open about everything.
She used to do everything for Sarah, didn’t she? But what usually cheered the girl up? She can’t remember. Too many bad memories muddling up the good ones.
Taking a deep breath, taking a leap of faith really, she walks closer to him, her hand coming to rest on his dirty cheek. Looking at them now, though, they are both dirty. Covered in mud and dry leaves and blood from their scratches.
“I…” she swallows, trying to make the words get the hell out of her mouth. “I always thought…I’d be alone.”
His eyes jump to hers, and she swallows again. God, why is this so hard? Why her legs feel like they’re going to make her fall on her knees from their shaking?
But she needs to do this. For him and for her. She opens her fingers over his cheek, caressing it like Christa and Omid used to do with each other. So long ago. How is it that she even remembers little things?
“I always thought I’d be alone,” she repeats, keeping herself focused. “Then I met you.”
It’s not something she was planning. Not at all. Especially not after all of Javi’s teasing and Kate’s knowing looks. But still, Javi and Kate and everyone is far from her mind when she gently pulls his face towards hers, closing her eyes after he closes his. Then she touches her lips to his.
Differently from what she had thought, it’s…weird. Not kissing him, but kissing. It’s wet. And different. She never ever touched her lips to someone else’s, had absolutely no idea what to expect from it.
But the thoughts fly out of her mind when she realizes just what she’s doing. She’s actually, honestly kissing someone. Gabe. She just never…she was being honest with him, before. She never thought about this sort of thing. But it just felt so natural, fitting.
Wet and odd or not, it was still nice. A good memory to treasure among so many bad ones. She hopes it’ll become a good memory to Gabe, too.
Finally, when she doesn’t know what to do with herself anymore, she breaks their contact. He doesn’t let her go completely away though, not yet. Instead, he does something that, to her, seems like instinct alone—he bumps their noses together, earning a smile from her.
“That…” he whispers after bumping their noses one more time and letting go of her free hand. “That…did you mean it, Clem?”
Clementine nods, not finding her voice just yet. Then, after clearing her throat, she answers, “I’m more serious right now than I’ve ever been.”
“Wow.” A smile covers his entire face and he looks—he looks…like he’s glowing with happiness or something. She feels a strange bubble in her heart, too. Something that she never felt there before. Clem doesn’t have a name for it, though. “Wow, Clem.”
When he offers her his hand to hold, it’s shaking so much. She looks down at hers to see it shaking, too. How…how is it that her body can react like this? It never reacted like this to anything. Never.
Smiling to cover her sudden nervousness over her acts, she grabs his hand and they start moving again. If they find AJ today…then she doesn’t think her heart had ever been this happy. It never really had the time to be happy.
She thinks that maybe, maybe now she understands Kate better. Why she clings to Javi every time she can, why the two of them are always together. But she also understands what feeling like this regarding someone means—they could be separated at any time, for any reason at all.
Look at Christa and Omid, Luke and Jane, Kenny and Katjaa. It’s always like that.
Her heart aches at her pessimist thoughts, and she honestly tries to brush them off. Crush her fears. But when it doesn’t happen, she just tells herself that all it means is that they need to enjoy the time they have.
She thinks about the good memories they already have—and the new ones to come. They’ll have to be enough, won’t they?
With everything inside her hurting, she squeezes his hand as tightly as she can.
“Are you…okay?” Gabe asks, pausing for a second to look at her.
“I’m okay,” she promises, nudging him so they can keep moving. “Just thinking about old things.”
Old friends.
Who aren’t coming back.
“You want to talk about it?” he offers with a smile.
But shakes her head. There are a few things…that she’s just not ready not share yet. Maybe one day she’ll be able to tell him what she’s afraid of, how she doesn’t want history to keep repeating itself. But now is not the time.
“Later. After we’re back in Richmond, we can talk about it.”
As an answer to her once again making it clear that yes, she’s going to stay, he squeezes her hand like she did before.
Funny, Clementine realizes, how easy it is to hold hands with someone. There might be walkers everywhere, but she still finds it nice.
The house is so near now—but Clem thinks they are starting to walk slower.
“Can I ask you something?” Gabe suddenly asks, looking down once again.
Feeling bold by their earlier actions, she touches his face again, lightly, until he looks up in her eyes. “You can always ask me anything.”
“Even if it’s silly?”
“Of course.”
“What…what are we going to tell Javi, Dad and Kate?”
She frowns. “I honestly don’t know yet. Maybe we could just keep it quiet for a while? You know, keep it between us. Like it’s…something that’s only ours.”
“I…okay,” he says with a nod. “I like having it as something that’s only ours.”
Clementine returns his nod, and they make it to the house in silence. Once there, she’s all for busting the door open and running inside like a mad woman until she finds her goofball.
But Gabe is more…delicate about it. He knocks.
She’s more than a little surprise when someone actually opens the door—at least a little bit of the door—with a rifle in hand.
“What do you want?” the voice asks. A woman—like Javi had mentioned, right? “Who are you?”
Clem takes a deep breath. “Dr. Lingard told us you were taking care of a little boy. AJ. We’re here to take him back to…the new frontier.”
The last thing Clementine hears before the door is thrown back on her face is a snort, followed by, “I don’t answer to the new frontier for a long time.”

Name) groaned and slowly opened their eyes. They were looking at the ceiling.
And they were on top of something soft. A bed? Where are they? They slowly got up and hissed. Looking down they saw their shirt was raised, bandages wrapped around their abdomen, and red splotch on the left side.
Right, they got shot.
Raising their head from the wound, they looked around the room. A venus trap was sitting on the cupboard, along with a vase with dead flowers in it and a lamp.
Throwing their feet off the bed, they took a deep breath and stood up.
"Oh fuck." They stood there waiting for the pain to subside. When it did they started looking around the room again. They saw a huge shelf with skulls stored on it. One was human while the rest were from different animals.
They really hoped someone didn't keep their enemies skull as a souvenir.
The wall on the left side was decorated with various drawings. Some of them looked like they were done by a beginner and others looked like someone more skilled drew them. It was pretty good.
One drawing stood out to them in particular. Two figures, one holding a gun and killing Muertos (at least they hoped it was Muertos).
'For Clem frum Aj. Me protekting Clem. Cute.'
(Name) went to touch the drawing and that's when the door suddenly opened.
Startled, they looked at the doorway, and there stood a kid.
"Um, hi there little guy." They said warily.
He beamed and ran to them. "You're awake!"
"You were hurt pretty bad when your group arrived at the school, and and then Ruby patched you up but said she didn't know when you'll wake up." He rambled.
"Uhuh. Yeah, It must have been...pretty bad I guess." He nodded at that.
So they were in the school. Thank god.
They stood in silence so (Name) decided to break it.
"So what's your name little dude?" They asked crouching down.
The boy smiled "I'm AJ! Your name is (Name) right? The others told me." They nodded and pointed at the wall with drawings on it.
"So you're the one who drew those." AJ nodded frantically "They are pretty cool. You're super talented."
He beamed "Thanks. But I'm nowhere near as good as Tenn. He is an artist and I'm becoming one."
"Nah, I'd say you're an artist already. I'd even say you're the next Picasso!" They smiled at him.
He looked confused "I don't know who that is."
"Well, why don't I tell you while you bring me to my people? Sound good?" He smiled again.
"Come on."
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"So he was the best artist in the whole world?!"
They laughed. "Pretty much yeah."
AJ looked up at them with big eyes.
"You think I can be the best artist in the world one day too?" His eyes were sparkling at this point.
"Well you're an amazing artist now so imagine what you'll be like in a few years." (Name) smiled.
They turned the corner and AJ pushed the door in front of them open.
"They're awake!"
(Name) entered the room, all eyes on them.
'Well this is awkward.'
"(Name)!" Gabe ran to them and pulled them into a hug "I thought you were going to die!"
"Don't worry. I made myself a promise that I'll die after you." They chuckled, hugging him back.
"Are you okay? How are you feeling?"
"The more important question here is...which one is she?" They snickered looking at the girls in the room.
Gabe groaned and pulled away.
"You gave us quite a scare kiddo." Tripp ruffled their hair.
They chuckled "Sorry. I'll try to actually use my spidey senses next time and avoid the bullet."
Then a voice with a southern accent spoke up. "How are ya feeling?" It was a short girl with ginger hair.
"Like shit but that's nothing new."
She shook her head. "You probably shouldn't have gotten out of bed yet. Could break the stitches and those aren't easy to do you know?"
"I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you're Ruby." She chuckled and nodded "Thanks for stitching me up."
"Oh don't mention it. Come on sit down. You shouldn't be standing." She patted an empty spot on the floor next to her.
They thanked her and sat down.
A boy with dreadlocks cleared his throat.
"I think introductions are in order. We already know your name, (Name), so it's only fair."
"Here we go." The blond-haired girl groaned out.
"I'm Louis, the most charming and handsome fellow you will ever meet." He pointed to himself, winking at them.
"This mean-looking girl is Violet, and before you ask no, she doesn't like purple. She may look mean but she is a softie." Violet rolled her eyes and kicked Louis in the arm. He ow-ed but continued anyway.
"You already know sweet Ruby here and right next to you is Tennesse. Tenn for short." A boy next to me smiled shyly.
"He is an artist I told you about!" AJ exclaimed.
Louis pointed to the door. "In the kitchen, you'll find our chef Omar, the best chef there is."
"Little guy over here is Willy." Willy smiled. "Don't ask him why he got sent to this school, trust me you don't want to know." He looked offended at Louis.
"Next to Ruby is Aasim." Aasim nodded his head at me. "Now I know he is good-looking, not as good as me, but he is taken by Ruby so don't throw yourself on him." (Name) snorted.
"Good to know. Well, um, it's nice to meet you all." They smiled
Then the door that they came in flew open and in ran a dog.
(Name) gasped "You have a dog!"
The said dog came up to AJ and he petted it, the dog's tail wagging happily "Her name is Rosie."
"Don't try to pet her, she almost bit my arm off." Gabe said.
They started laughing "Damn, even the animals don't like you." Gabe flipped them off.
"I told you. You shouldn't have tried to pet her without her getting to know you. She isn't a fan of strangers." A voice from behind (Name) said.
They turned around and saw a girl.
A very pretty girl to add. She wore a cap on her head, worn out. What stood out the most about her was the prosthetic she had on her left leg.
"Holy shit."
The girl looked at them irritated "What?". (Name) looked up at her "Nothing! Just. Well. You know. " They pointed at her leg.
"What about it." Her glare intensified.
They felt like dying.
"I was just thinking you know" they stuttered "holy shit she has a prosthetic how did she survive and shit."
They laughed nervously and continued rambling.
Javier coughed "(Name) you should probably stop."
They nodded and turned their back to the girl.
"Don't mind them Clementine, they are an idiot." Gabe told the girl, now known as Clementine.
"Oh fuck off Gabe." They rolled their eyes and looked at Rosie who had her head in AJ's lap.
Clementine started to speak "I went to check out the site where you were attacked. Whoever attacked you was long gone." She went and sat next to AJ.
David shook his head and cursed.
"You think it was the Delta?" Tripp asked Clementine.
The girl shrugged "Couldn't be anyone else." Then she looked at (Name).
"How's your wound?"
They gulped "Um it's good. Ruby did a great job at stitching it up."
AJ looked up at Clementine "They told me who Picasso was!" She smiled at him.
"Oh yeah?" "Yeah! And they said I can even be as good as him one day."
She looked back at them. They just noticed how pretty her eyes were.
(Name) looked at Gabe. "I get it now."
Violet looked at them both "Get what?"
"Nothing. I'm gonna go get some air." They got up and walked out of the room.
