Sokka either doesn't figure it out until they tell him or he figures it out before they make it official and teases them about it. He eventually tells Aang and Toph, who get away with as much trolling as they can. Suki tries being the voice of reason but even she gets in on the hijinks.

Whenever Zuko talks to Sokka about his crush on Katara in slow burn Zutara fics, it often goes something like this, and I am absolutely here for it.

Gaang Modern AU Headcanons

my mind is a hellhole in which few survive, here’s what it has conjured tonight

Suki:

-can rap fergalicious in its entirety -will kick your ass at mario kart -able to quote any vine from memory -sneaker game on point -runs a makeup channel on youtube -has a third degree black belt but doesn’t tell anyone she does -smokes weed

Zuko:

-also smokes weed -writes poetry -gets mad when people don’t know that filthy frank and joji are the same person -only owns two shirts that aren’t red and black -enjoys the legend of zelda and has played every game -has seen all the mcu movies -the g note triggers him

Toph:

-started off with two ear piercings but now she has six -metalhead -memelord. she and sokka run a join account. conceptualizes memes and judges memes that don’t meet her standard -jumpsuit/romper fiend -has a mullet -knows the entire “shrek is love, shrek is life” script. quotes it to frighten people -roast game on point

Sokka:

-memelord. creates the memes that toph conceptualizes. only posts memes she laughs at -loves rap and r&b -can and will discuss star wars for hours -knows the entire script of the bee movie “for the meme” -has hoes and knows it but deep down he just wants to simp for the right person -graphic tee king -comeback game on point

Aang:

-tattoo addict -still plays pokemon go -beanie/hoodie king -loves audiobooks -track star -call him the pied piper cause mans can play some pipes (the tuba. he plays the tuba) -knows so many languages. nobody knows how but he does

Katara and Zuko don't really use internet slang in real talking

Aang uses slang, but he's so bad at it. flameo hotman, anyone?

he uses words like lit, extra, bae, yeet, etc. kinda outdated and a little cringe

Suki says rad unironically but it works cause i love it

Sokka says shit like homie, homeslice, homeboy, all variations of that

Toph says shit like broski, brotato, broseph, all variations of that

Katara did the "and i oop" and sksksksksks thing when that was a thing

now she just does sdsjdhsjdhsjdhsjsjsjd

Azula uses "fire" a lot because it makes sense. fire is good. we love fire.

she also uses "mood" but only for like... inanimate objects or people showing extreme depression or god complexes

Ty Lee says shit like "we vibing" "i'm baby" but its cute when she does it

Zuko quotes vines and tiktoks that he retained from being sent vines and tiktoks by Sokka

Sokka at one point just died, because Zuko was caught off guard by something and said "da vinky?"

Aang is under the impression that "simp" is a positive thing because he has been called a simp like a million times for just being sweet to Katara

Mai uses terms like "bitch boy" and "piss baby" and "coward" to both her friends and people she doesn't like. it all depends on tone and context to tell what she means.
