It's kind of dissapointing seeing how the Transformers fandom is dealing with the movie from both ends. And sure, the dogging on the film is pretty bad, but I've honestly seen worse reactions to film announcements in fandoms like Star Wars.
Truthfully I think the reactions from the people who liked the trailer are bordering on worse.
I've seen so many posts along the lines of "If you don't like the new movie in any capacity you're not a real transformers fan" with so many specifically putting bayverse fans under fire. But like, what is the point of that? Transformers has been so many genres over the past 40 years, its held so many tones. It's a little idiotic to think that every version of Transformers is going to appeal to everyone.
There are people who don't watch the cartoons but like the comics, there are people who quite literally only collect the toys, people who like the bayverse films but not the old ones, people who like the old cartoons but not the bayverse films, people who only consume media from the aligned universe. The fandom is so varied that it is astounding, and it is one of my favorite things about the franchise. There is quite possibly a Transformers iteration for every type of person.
It would be like saying "every Transformers fan who doesn't like the G.I. Joe crossover content is a fake fan because so many continuity things have hinged on G.I. Joe for the past 40 years", a completely idiotic argument.
Also, for the people going "it's not made for you, you're not the target demographic", enjoyment of a media can reach out beyond it's target demographic. Though I don't have doubts that they will take a more adult angle than shown in the trailer, after all Hasbro is very aware of the adult demographic of the property (and that it's definitely not lil jimmy who is buying the Super Ultra Collector's 80-120$ figures), I understand the dissapointment as the initial synopsis did not give any indication of it being a comedy.
So anyways, lets stop sectioning off entire portions of the fandom as bad yeah? Please?

✨💋 REQUESTS CLOSED 💋✨
Requests are now closed!
Rules:
keep me in your heart. i don't mind multiple requests, esp if they're good, but know that the more requests i get the longer it takes me to get through all of them. i'm unfortunately not a writing machine.
give me kisses pls
i don't mind fetish material, but i have limits. if you like something really graphic, such as gas or scat fetishes, i'll have to pass it up. but 'softer' fetishes to do with body parts or sneezing or whatever is fine. i'm not into it but i'll do my best to write it. (don't make me the sneeze blog tho i stg)
nothing to do with minors and no incest pls. you can request like sideswipe / reader / sunstreaker or the like tho, as long as there's a reader insert to sandwich in there and it's not sibling on sibling thank.
i will write the dark shit you want to read but character death isn't my favorite and if it gets too graphic i may make it a readmore? but that's just bc i get nervous about how people will take it.
writing for ships isn't my favorite. a lot of popular ships do nothing for me bc i'm contrary 😤 let's keep it to mainly reader insert stuff.
i will probably, most often, in all likelihood make the reader gender neutral even if you specify afab or fem bc i'm genderfucked and i don't want all my writing to exclude me if i'm not a woman that day lol lmao. if you specify male reader i will write that. i stand with men. i will write you getting your ass blasted, king.
disregard if my writing includes the word cunt or pussy. im so porn-brained that i associate those words with ass, too.
i think that's it. you guys know how to act (i hope). don't disappoint your dog by acting out of pocket in my inbox.
pwaise??? fow me??? 👉👈🥺
I will write for:
Transformers (no live-action, michael bay dies by my hand)
Genshin Impact
Twisted Wonderland
G.I. Joe
Ultrakill
i've mostly cut down what I write for. you're free to offer different fandoms/stuff in my inbox, but these are the things i'm mainly always into and it's easy for me to get interested in. i'm sorry for my weeb shit.

Read anything good lately? I'm about out of my hyperfixation on Claremont X-Men again and need some book recommendations before Tumblr comic fandom drives me crazier than I already am. I am just... so done with fandom bullshit...
I'm glad you asked, I've been loving the Energon Universe comic series that Skybound has been doing. Transformers and Void Rivals so far are the two ongoings right now.
Transformers is a breath of fresh air and welcome back to basics while being it's own thing. It understands the character and it trusts its audience to already know them well. The G1 Optimus feels like he left as he's written as veteran still struggling with PTSD and while displaying a gentle giant soul the humans.
While there G.I. joe comics is regulated to really good mini series of key members from both COBRA and the Joe members. A Year one sort of idea as we see the two groups slowly become the powerhouse rivals.
Right now the mini focuses on Destro and Scarlett.
Highly recommend you check them out.

What dismays me most about Transformers fandom currently is their refusal to look past the surface with G.I. Joe. Like, Hama is one of the best comics writer-editors of the 80s. And they just judge off of surface level observations and assumption about war comics as an artform.

I have recently fallen into the Snake Eyes x Storm Shadow fandom thanks to the Snake Eyes Origin movie and I have some fic ideas that I need to put out into the world.
Non Betrayal AU:
- Snake Eyes never betrays Tommy it was someone else in the clan. Maybe, it was a random person. Maybe it was Jinx (in the G.I. Joe movies I think Jinx was Storm Shadow’s cousin??). The point is that it wasn’t Snake Eyes. In fact Snake Eyes was pretty on board with being a part of the Arashikage and having a family. Snake Eyes and Tommy might have also been romantically involved or at least on their way there. However, when Kenya shows up he talks about a traitor in their midsts (maybe he implies it’s Snake Eyes or even outright says it is to fuck with Tommy) everyone immediately thinks it’s Snake Eyes. Everything goes about the same in the movies with Tommy using the jewel being told he will not be the next head. Tommy still leaves believing the man he loved (still loves) betrayed him.
Then comes the next part. The Arashikage punish the traitor. I have two options for this.
1. They throw Snake Eyes in the snake pit. The snakes keep him alive but he stays down there a while. Eventually the real traitor is found/comes forward but Snake Eyes has been down in the pit a while and isn’t doing well. The snakes like him and are protecting him but when the Arashikage finally get to him Snake Eyes isn’t doing well.
2. They slit his throat and leave him for dead in the forest. In this case either Scarlet or Akiko finds Snake Eyes and patches him up.
The end result of both of these scenarios is that Snake Eyes gets better but doesn’t really want to stay with the Arashikage and really wants to find Tommy to explain everything. This is how Snake Eyes joins the G.I. Joes. As for why he doesn’t speak either he has damage to his throat that rendered him mute or he has trauma that does leads to Snake Eyes not wanting to talk to people (because no one believes him anyway).
Snake Eyes is still very in love with Tommy and really only joins the Joes to find him and get him back. Cue a very long chase with periods of intense fighting and Snake Eyes trying to tell Tommy the truth but either he can’t or Tommy won’t listen and believes he is a liar. Eventually things reach a head where Tommy finds out Snake Eyes never betrayed him either by someone telling him (either a Joe or someone from Cobra like the Baroness) or because Tommy goes looking for answers himself.
I imagine Tommy does not take this revelation well and in a rage tries to burn Cobra to the ground. He is probably moderately successful and eventually meets up with the Joes (he really wants to see Snake Eyes) except now Tommy learns about what the Arashikage did to his lover and Tommy is furious. It is easy to be furious at everyone who hurt Snake Eyes than to feel guilty about the fact that he also feels guilty about hurting Snake Eyes. Maybe Tommy even wants to burn the Arashikage down for what they did to him and his lovers. This causes a fight between him and Snake Eyes because while Snake Eyes doesn’t necessarily like the Arashikage he doesn’t want them all dead.
I don’t really know how this ends except with Tommy and Snake Eyes together and the Joes all seeing Snake Eyes’ face for the first time (maybe even hearing his voice) and being very surprised because Snake Eyes is not at all how they pictured him (I also think it would be funny if some of them get crushes/think Snake Eyes is handsome and make Tommy jealous). I just think this would make a great fic with a lot of angst, surprises, anger, manipulation, mistakes, and a lot of outsider pov on the relationship between Snake Eyes and Tommy.

Have some content of my new favorite ship that most other people were over like....three years ago? (Before it became a potential incest ship). Writing for this will be the most self-indulgent thing I did since writing twin pron for the G.I. Joe: Renegades fandom back around 2015-ish.
Side note: Geten is 'Apocrypha' in Japanese. I'm glad they stayed with 'Geten' in English. Imagine typing 'Apocrypha' fifty times in a fic.

With a cover date of Mid November, 1989 (Marvel Fandom lists it as December cover date), Marvel ceased publication of the first run of G.I. Joe Special Missions with issue 28. For the final issue, the Joe Space Shuttle found itself in a high orbit dogfight with the Cobra Condor. ("Condor", G.I. Joe Special Missions 28#, Marvel Comic Event)

Since you have an IDW2005 Optimus and Arcee reading list, do you have one for... all of IDW?
Yeah! I made one for a friend some time ago and polished it and uploaded it here. (I'm assuming this is about the 2009-2018 continuity and not IDW2)
The guide favors publishing order but it's organized by volume for a coherent reading experience. It also lists individual issues, so it works whether you adquired all the volumes or are reading chapter by chapter online or any combination. I tried to be clear about what is what and what's included in what, but if there's any confusion let me know.
IDW1 is divided in 3 "phases", in phase 3 there's a lot of crossovers with other Hasbro franchises known as the Hasbroverse. I included all the crossovers with Transformers, but not all the Hasbroverse series. I didn't include G.I. Joe volume 5 even though Skywarp joins the cast in it because if I did, I felt like I would have had to include all of G.I. Joe.
Now, and the rest is just me preaching so feel free to ignore, you don't have to read everything on this list. I am a completionist and I like doing this stuff, I also think it's good to know what actually happens bc most people here haven't read most of the continuity and there's a lot of misinformantion and silly discourse going around. But comics shouldn't feel like homework and I see a lot of people not making progress or giving up on the continuity bc they get tired of making themselves read slop.
More than meets the eye by James Roberts is Tumblr's darling, the one mostly everyone has read and talks about, so if you care about enganging with fandom that's the one you have to read. The Wreckers saga, Barber's exRID and the Winblade series by Scott sorta come second in that regard (Barber's stuff is actually my favorite). Aside from Wreckers and spotlight Kup, phase 1 is generally considered to be not very good, with phase 2 being where stuff starts getting good.
But maybe you will like the stuff in phase 1, I don't know. I'm not telling you what to skip, I don't know your priorities, that's why personalized guides like the OP and Arcee ones are for. What I'm telling you is that if you get bored of something, just go for the next thing. Or really just start by whichever series seems more interesting to you. If you must complete the reading, you can always do it after you're already hooked. And if anything is confusing bc you skipped something or for whatever reason you can always, always ask me about the lore.

3 Reasons to Rarepair
A Mild Yet Enthusiastic List
1. Brainy matchmaker energy. Enjoying a canon or popular fandom pairing is fine. You know what else is enjoyably fine? A challenge! Maybe you love a pairing that your brain has to actively work for. Maybe you love a pairing that makes figuring out their dynamic into a journey of its own. Yes, y’all, you can absolutely ship characters who just vibe together, whose energy and history work interestingly together, and who require Venn diagrams and cork-board analysis to consider! Happy birthday to your brain!
2. Deepest nostalgia vibes. Remember childhood, when you'd play with toys from any and all franchises, plus a random plush or two? (Cough cough yes yes very Lego Movie.) Maybe you'd pair a Barbie with a G.I. Joe. Maybe some G.I. Joes would get together and adopt small toy cats. Maybe your Batgirl wanted to hang out with Hulk at a wooden hippo's ice cream shop. It didn't matter why, back then: they just made sense to you at the time! On some existential level, rarepairs embrace ye olde vibe of imaginative play. And in a world scarred by *gestures to everything* this sense of nostalgia can often be just the thing to spark the happy endorphins. Or relieve writer's block. Or better yet:
3. Burn the system. Do you really need a conglomerate of suits to package two characters together for you? Do you honestly require the corporate marketing of a couple in order to root for them? Of course you don't; you're already engaging in fandom content right here! Rarepairs take it one step further by embracing entirely-reworked content along the canon -> fanon -> headcanon continuum. Like, go on. Let go. Burn down and rewrite the system more.
TL;DR: Rairpairs don't work because they will, they work because they could. Sometimes there’s beauty in could. There's rebellion in could. In could, there is beaubellion.
#rarepair#over here thinking my meta thoughts#beauty/rebellion ship name = beaubellion#rarepair hell#shipping discourse

…Did I ask you for Ziggy/Dillon for character bingo?
I know I asked someone, but I’ve sent several names to several people and some of them were repeating 😭
Honestly, apart from that really weird urge canon had with hooking him up with Dr. K for no apparent reason, I think he's practically perfect as a character. His relationship with Dillon could be queer platonic or just purely queer, so that makes me happy. I would happily carry him around in my pocket if given the chance.
If the comics would kindly return to the Annuals or at least one-shots or branching outlets for the fandom, I would probably appreciate him a lot more than I do at present. Don't get me wrong, when he's right next to Ziggy or Scott, I quite like him. When he's alone or in a situation where the canon is trying to get him and Summer to kiss, I instantly lose interest. Also he reminds me of a G.I. Joe, which also makes me care about him a lot less. Sorry fam.

It surprises me how much transformers fans talk about military propaganda in G.I. Joe, completely forgetting that the transformers franchise revolves from the very beginning around endless war, battles, and where half of the characters are literally military vehicle. But it's cool and doesn't bother anyone, "it's different." It's especially strange to see this from a part of the fandom that loves Decepticons very much. It seems that people simply cannot come to terms with the fact that humanity has always perceived and will continue to perceive military partly as something cool, at least until they come face to face with it. This is our nature, this is our source of artificial adrenaline.
P.S. Well, personally, I grew up and live in a city where army propaganda is a really existing thing. And I'll tell you honestly, it doesn't look like that at all and it doesn't work the way many people think. No cartoon and no comics will achieve the results of real and directed military propaganda. Many simply have not seen how it happens.
I maintain that Transformers is probably guiltier of being propaganda than Joe is, thanks to Michael Bay being the closest thing to a Washington employee he can be without being given a paycheck. Bay is offered unprecedented access to military assets because he makes the military look really good in all of his films.
I'm not saying that one shouldn't be concerned about the idea that propaganda will influence people, but how joyless do you have to be to assume that everything is just propaganda? Numerous pseudo-psychology books like Saturday Morning Mind Control assumed that all of television was trying to brainwash your kids, and that's kind of joyless. Granted, if the movie makes light of an actual conflict (doubtful), that's another matter, but again, I think Transformers has the far more checkered history with this sort of thing, maybe because it never produced something directly addressing veteran treatment (or lack thereof) like "A Letter from Snake-Eyes".
