synopsis: an immortal god and a traveler sit down for a meal and a chat.

warnings: existential af (but this is one of my fics, you knew that), do not take this to be 100% historically accurate, loosely based off of genshin

you gaze at the feast in front of you in awe, with plates full of food neatly arranged on your table. of course, yongseung could afford the best, even in mortal form.

from the rooftop restaurant you were currently in, you had a beautiful view of the light-filled city, bustling with activity as sunset approached.

"my, what a pleasure it is to be invited by a god for dinner. thank you, again.”

he chuckles. "believe me, the pleasure is all mine. i know you saved my nation from calamity, so it’s the least i could do. i’m glad we could finally sit down for a proper meal.”

"yongseung, there's no need to thank me, it was the right thing to do," you say with a smile, beginning to fill your plate with various foods. “it's just nice to talk like this. i know we’re always so busy, especially you. ”

he sighs, and stares briefly at the vast expanse of hills, especially vibrant during the spring.

"sometimes i wish i weren't. thousands of years of work can be quite taxing on the soul."

the waiter stops by your table with two cups of hot tea and a kettle, and you briefly stop conversation to bow politely. you take a sip, relishing its taste. even after all this time traveling, your love for any sort of tea remains constant.

"oh, you old man! when you have the chance, you should travel the world with me—there's quite a lot to see."

yongseung raises an eyebrow. "you're quite old too, remember? but maybe i will take you up on your offer one day, if i feel comfortable to leave my nation in the hands of the people."

"sightseeing would do you some good. i feel 5,000 years young after running around all sorts of worlds! only the heavens know how long it's been since i've visited another..."

you stop yourself before you go on another one of your excited (and nostalgic) rambles. yongseung's still listening to you intently, though.

he carefully takes a sip of his own tea. "and here i thought you were just an ordinary human traveler when we first met, although i was quickly proven wrong. there is nothing ordinary about what you've been able to accomplish with your powers."

you smile amusedly while trying not to take all the jjajangmyeon noodles. he's busied himself with eating the meat, namely the pork belly.

"eh, everyone thinks so unless i tell them otherwise. you still treated me well regardless. or how should i put this, normally. i'm thankful for that. and in many ways, i'm no better than a mortal until i complete my goal on this planet."

it's a little sad, really. you miss your sibling. you've never lost sight of why you started your journey across the various nations of this world in the first place.

the god stares at you, his face containing traces of melancholy. "how selfish of me to say, but i find eternity to be a little less unbearable when you're here."

ah, what a sap. you love him, though. he's not so tough when you're around.

"then, i'm glad my time on this world has not been a waste."

at the start of your journey, you had told yourself that you wouldn't make many attachments to those you met, as it would make it harder to leave.

first and foremost, you wanted your sibling by your side so that you could traverse the galaxy together again. you just happened to help people along the way—nothing too deep.

but things were a little different with yongseung. despite being one of the gods that helped oversee korea and its people, he was someone you could now call a dear friend. the thought of saying "goodbye" to him, even if it only had to be temporarily, wasn't a fun one.

you've gotten used to encountering him every so often, studying some book or on a walk to clear his mind from all of his duties.

he smiles peacefully, and you're glad to see the expression. "i'll always remind you that your time is well spent with me."

at that, you pause to take in the rustling of the wind, the beautiful colors of sunset, the design on your napkin, and the reflective glint of yongseung's cubical necklace charm.

to think, that you might never have this exact view again. it's quite a bittersweet feeling, thinking that the day would come where you would leave earth. yongseung's well aware of this too, but logically, there was no point in thinking about it so much.

it'll be a long while before that day comes, as there are still so many questions for you to answer about this world.

so, until you have to move on again, you'll both cherish the memories you've made together. and maybe, just for a while, this can be eternity for you.

a/n: oh dear lord this is way overdue for @restlessmaknae's coexistence collab. i underestimated how tired this year would make me. i'm not that dissatisfied with the fic, but i wish my brain could come up with better sentences sometimes. i was thinking about how some people stay in one place their whole lives and how others move around so often, and how they would each perceive the other type of person. it's so different, isn't it? just food for thought. and also, my fantasy brainrot is too much.

" 'toru.." you weakly whispered as your lover held you tightly on his arms, a sword piercing through your chests as blood continues to seep out of your clothes.

"hold on to me." satoru stammered as he choked on his own blood.

"i can't breath no more." you said as you pant heavily.

a curse left his lips as satoru wiped the blood off of your mouth, gently caressing your cheek.

satoru groans as he looked up to the person who happened to thrust a single sword into your bodies, a person he never thought would betray him.

"i trusted you!" satoru yelled followed by a cough as he held you close to his chest.

"that's the weakness of the queen, too softhearted, too gullible." the betrayer said as he forced the sword out of you and satoru's chest. "may you rest in peace, queen and king." he said as he left the place with his people.

there were dead bodies of your comrades around, not a single person left breathing, they were all killed.

"s-satoru.." you mumbled as you cupped your lover's cheek with your bloodied hands. "if the gods gave us another chance to live, will you still choose me as your lover?" you said as satoru opened his closed eyes and looked at you.

at the age of 24, satoru started neglecting you, or what you thought he did but it wasn't his intention though, he just doesn't want to see you disappear before him and you understand that. who would want to take care of someone who's death was already set.

but a week before your birthday, before everything ends, satoru came back to you.

"i'm turning 25 soon, prince." he was standing at the window near the bed, his sword on his hand as he kept quiet.

you sat on the bed as you caress the soft pillow in your fingers.

you heard the sound of his sword as you watch him make his way to the door.

you smiled sadly as clutched the pillow with your weakening grasp.

"satoru, will you be back?" you asked and he finally faced you.

satoru clicked his tongue, the only reason he disappeared was because he searched every land for a cure, something that would remove the curse that was casted upon you, yet not a single information was given to him.

satoru cursed under his breath as he dropped the sword on his hand, running towards you as he embraced you as tight as he could, hoping that his hold would make you stay forever.

you cupped his cheeks in your hands as you leaned your forehead to his.

"why are you crying?" you asked and it made him cry more.

"i'm scared." he said as you wiped his tears with your thumb.

"don't be, my love. i'm still here." you said as he shake his head.

"i'm here." he whispered.

"you're not him." you know you were being petty. you shouldn't blame him from the curse that was casted upon you.

satoru was startled when you started crying.

"i'm sorry, 'toru." you said as he smiled at you, wiping your tears with his thumb.

"it's fine, i'm sorry i did not recognize you, my queen, my princess, my everything." he said.

"satoru, this will be the last time we'll see each other. be happy."

"last time?" he shake his head as he cupped your cheek. "no, we'll meet again, right?" he said as you softly laughed

"maybe we will, but you'll have to wait million years for that." you said.

"i don't care how long, i will wait for you."

"i'm grateful to have you as my soulmate, satoru."

"what's happening?" satoru said as your hand were slowly disappearing with the wind.

"the curse was lifted now, satoru." you said as you smiled at him.

"t-then that's good! we'll go home together, okay?"

"that would be impossible, plus you have a family now." you said chuckling bitterly as you sigh. "goodbye, until we meet again, mr.gojo satoru."

satoru could only watch as you disappeared with the winds, another universe where he lost you again and yet he wasn't sure if he'll see you again. maybe someday.

Seungyoun was scared of many things. It felt like every day was spent barely clinging on, trying to distract his mind from thinking of the past. He hadn’t always been scared. In fact, he used to feel fearless. He never once thought he would one day be so paralyzed and stagnant. 

He was apprenticed to a librarian several hundred miles west of where he once lived. Studying history and preserving ancient books. It was never something he was truly interested in. But, it was a generous offer and he wasn’t likely to find anything better for years, so he took it up. He found his life dramatically shifted in the course of a few weeks. 

He once spent his days in town, riding horses and doing trade with visitors from neighbouring towns. He was carefree and full of life and love. Now, he spent every day cooped up in an old library that smelled like parchment and ink, sorting through century old texts and copying them down to new volumes. He was lucky to get a few words in conversation throughout the day with his master, an older man senior to him by over 50 years. Seungyoun felt like he had a lot to learn from him, but his words were few and advice given both sparingly and cryptically. 

The library never got many visitors. There were some servants who would come to pick up books for their masters, or a few ambitious young men hoping to study the greats to further their own success. There were rarely any women who came to the library. Certainly not from far away towns. And in no way was there ever anyone who Seungyoun knew from his life before.

Until one quiet afternoon when Seungyoun was staring out the window and a customer came in. The customer being you.

On that particular day, Seungyoun wanted to disappear. He didn’t want to run away or particularly go back, but simply disappearing from reality would be his best bet. He stared out at the lush green gardens that surrounded the old library. He was allowed to go out whenever he pleased, but he had locked the door shut from the inside and didn’t intend to set foot along the trails or smell the flowers. Perhaps it would have done him well to get fresh air and clear his head. Getting a break from the overwhelming musty smell of the warm library and feeling a cool breeze through his hair. But still, he stayed put in his chair, flipping mindlessly through a book on philosophy until his peace was disturbed.

“You really wanted to leave me and everything else behind for this? I thought whatever you seemed so eager to go after four years ago must have been something truly spectacular. I hate to say you’ve disappointed me once again, Cho Seungyoun.” You didn’t hold back in slamming him with all the hurt feelings his leaving had left you with. Now was not the time you wanted to sound desperate or loving. You were angry at him, and you wanted him to know that.

Seungyoun’s eyes lifted to your face slowly, processing if this was actually real life and not just another one of his daydreams. But there you stood in front of him, arms crossed stubbornly in a very unladylike way. You were dressed plainly, but your beauty always overshadowed anything you wore. You never needed the elaborate dresses and precious jewelry that other ladies sought after. You would always command the attention of everyone in the room with just your presence. And you were certainly commanding Seungyoun’s attention with just a few stern words. 

His heart thumped a bit faster in his chest and guilt creeped through his entire body, touching every nerve. What was he even supposed to say to you? What could he possibly pull at to earn your forgiveness? 

“Y/n.” Just the mere uttering of your name had his lip quivering in uncertainty. What used to fall from his lips almost on instinct suddenly felt unnatural and wrong. Like you were too above him for him to even attempt to speak a word to you anymore. Why did you come to see him when he was so clearly worthless in comparison to you?

“Well? Will you just sit there all day? You must know I haven’t come to buy books on poetry.” Your glaring eyes did nothing to help the young man’s nervousness. He had seen you give that look to others before. He had always laughed with you after, discussing their faults in a carefree way. Now he was on the receiving end. He couldn’t possibly have felt more embarrassed. 

But he forced his body to stand regardless, following you a few paces behind as you led the way out to the gardens. He had no idea why you were there in the first place, or what you hoped to achieve by visiting him again. Was it just to laugh at how far he had fallen? Surely there was no way you wanted him back in your life.

“Did you think all that time I spent with you meant nothing? For you to throw it away for a simple apprenticeship?” You implored him pointedly, determined to get an answer out of the man. His words seemed to get stuck in his throat. He closed his eyes, head falling slightly. Whether out of thought or out of shame, you weren’t sure. 

“Talk to me, Seungyoun. I didn’t come all this way for nothing.” Your voice was gentler this time, prodding him for an answer in a more inviting, less demanding way. He wasn’t sure why you were still being forbearing with him. He was well deserving of your frustration.

“I don’t know what to say. You want me to explain myself and defend my actions, but there is no possible explanation I could grasp that would paint me as anything less than a fool. That is what I am, Y/n. I cannot pretend to be happy with my choices. They have led me to a fruitless future. I will be secure in life, yes, but I know I won’t be living.” 

He had finally found his voice again, and you stared at him as he talked. First his words were tentative. They quickly grew more clear as his narrative took a turn to self-loathing. Your suspicions these past years were proven right in a single minute, and once Seungyoun finished talking, you both stood in silence. The weight of his words laid heavy on your shoulders. 

“If you are a fool, then I am your equal. Tell me truly, do you still think about me?” Although you were partially scared to hear his answer, you desperately needed to. There was no denying that you still longed to mean something to him. Maybe you had learned nothing from the past. Maybe you were making an even bigger mistake. 

Hope deferred makes the heart sick. A line that had never struck you more closely than in the last four years. You had started to live by it. A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul.

“There has not been a day you didn’t cross my mind.” Seungyoun’s words were simple but sincere. For the first time since you had stepped outside, he dared to meet the gaze of your eyes again. His ebony eyes, so captivating and sorrowful at the same time. Swirling with hopes long lost and dreams being rekindled. You could stare at them for a lifetime. 

“Then hear me when I say that I want to be with you. I am choosing you over every other.” You stepped closer, grasping his hands with your own. 

You knew it was entirely improper. Seungyoun was hardly a gentleman. He would not be able to offer you riches like your past suitors. But what he could offer was something you valued far more. Happiness. 

Seungyoun swallowed his emotions, preventing them from crashing over him like a wave. 

“You are settling for far less than you could—”

“On the contrary. I am not settling for anything. You are not worthless to me.” Your words were so earnest that Seungyoun was unable to ignore them despite his first instincts. You truly meant everything you had said.

“I’m scared I will disappoint you again. If—” 

You cut him off once again, silencing him with a chaste kiss. His heart felt unsteady, his body in a battle with his mind. He wanted to be with you. It was all he ever wanted. He had never figured out how to stop the restless thoughts in his mind, battering his ego and self-worth. You had silenced them with one simple kiss. All at once, he felt at peace again.

“Just stay. That is all I ask of you.”

I might get some details wrong, but this is what I remember; Wei Ying gets pregnant with Lan Zhan’s child, and when Madame Yu finds out he refuses to name the father because Lan Qiren makes him feel like he’s unworthy. Lan Zhan eventually finds him and basically adopts A-Yuan before Wei Ying finally admits he’s their biological son.

6. hello!!! this is a fic finder for a fic i’m seriously hoping isn’t deleted… ok so boom, it’s a modern au where i THINK it starts off with lxc noticing that lwj is making more purchases and buying expensive devices from looking at his bank acc. the reason lwj was buying more things was because wwx was working at a tech store and lwj wanted an excuse to see him

the main plot was that wq thought that lwj was a sugar daddy towards wwx because he kept buying him expensive presents, like watches and such, and lxc thought wwx was a sugar baby towards lwj because lwj kept buying him things.

it culminated in this huge misunderstanding with all of them in front of the daycare a-yuan attended, where i think it got cleared up from there.

9. Hi!! Last time no one found the fic, do I'll ask again a case someone who didn't see the last time knows the fic. I'm trying to find a fic I'veread a while ago, but I can't find it anywhere. Wy, once reborn, didn't see Lz's scars while Lz was bathing in the cold springs and he tried to steal the jade pass. Once they get together is where the plot kinda flees from my mind. I don't remember if Lz only ever had sex with Wy if he (Lz) was almost fully clothed or if he just straight up refused to be intimate. I guess Wy fearing that Lz didn't find his new body attractive and voicing that fear to Lz is what makes Lz tell him the truth??? I'm not sure tho. Anyways, in the end, Lz reveals the scars that the discipline whip left on him, and tells Wy that he's never been ashamed of his scars, but that once Wy came back and they got together, he became terrified that Wy would find repulsive how deformed the scars made his back look.

14. Hello! I’ve seen your work and I’m very I was very impressed. I apologize of adding to your workload, but I wanted to try my luck. I’ve been looking for the story for months, and I really hope it’s not deleted but… so the basic summary is that it’s a post canon, LWG is cursed (by meng Yao’s mother) with a whipping curse that basically leaves whip scars all over his body, including his face.

LWG hides for like two years and WWX finds LWG battered and scared that WWX wouldn’t love LWG and his face so they go through the process of trying to cure his curse, and get revenge for lan zhan. Really good story, I was so sad when I couldn’t find it again thank you for your help, good luck again!! @chocolateclodtreehuman

17. Fic finder request - Not sure if this was part of a collection or a twitter thread, but the story was from an outsider POV. A group of cultivators were determined to curse Wei Ying and did everything in their power to try to get rid of him, but each one backfired.

Each time they tried, the curses/arrays used were bigger and cost more energy. Soon, the group shrunk cause each time they tried something, it would just bring a positive change to Wei Ying. I cannot remember everything they tried, but the last curse they tried, the biggest, final attempt was something about "Never experiencing fatherhood" or something along those lines.

The story ended with a discussion conference in Cloud Recesses, and both Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were greeting people at the entrance, and Wei Wuxian was visibly pregnant (and, of course, not upset at all about the prospect).

I do remember it was on AO3 and was a one-shot (iirc). I have tried to find it myself, but after a week of searching, have admitted defeat. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

sisyphus, unhappy by @tobermoriansass. M: 140K, WIP. Curufinrod after re-embodiment is the simplest description, but it's so much more. Philosophy, musical theory, racial and sexual politics, a very dark family comedy of manners. Featuring one of my favorite Maglors ever.

Two Half-Kings and a Full Lake Between by @melestasflight and @polutrope. T: 12K. A fantastic exploration of the period in Maglor's regency when Fingolfin had arrived but Maedhros had not yet been rescued. Tense and compelling. Another favorite Maglor.

Northern Stars by @idrilsscribe. T: 62K, WIP. An AU of an AU, featuring traumatized kidnapped-while-young Elrohir making his way back from Harad to Imladris with Glorfindel's assistance. Elegant, moving prose; fantastic worldbuilding; delightfully complex OCs; etc., etc.

I Do; I Will by @littlewhitemouseagain. M: 23K. Fingon fights all the Feanorions, back to back, at his own coronation. Glorious (and painful, and moving, and hopeful, in a very Fingon way).

i've been so worried (you've been so still) by @welcomingdisaster. E: 9.5K. Maglor is drawn to an acolyte of Este after Maedhros is taken. An absolutely fantastic OC, delicious worldbuilding, and peak Sexy Maglor. Just WOW.

a stranger in my bed (a pounding in my head) by vauquelin. T: 11K. A surprise new installment makes this a 2024 fic, hooray! Maedhros and Fingon wake up married. Maedhros wants it annulled because he can't imagine Fingon is happy; Fingon is miserable therefore. Hilarious and touching at once, with the best punchline of the year.

Across So Wide A Sea by @emyn-arnens. G: 20K, WIP. A fantastic epistolary fic: Galadriel writes to Finrod (after his death), as a deliberate historical record that quickly gets very personal. Rich and complex and humorous and poignant. Delightful.

The Other Daughter of Twilight by Anna_Wing. G: 16K. Maedhros/Thuringwethil. Just read it. Go.

To Evil End by @zealouswerewolfcollector. T: 2900 words. Decades after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, Fingon comes back to Maedhros. Or does he? GAH!!

Body and Spirit by @meadowlarkx. G: 1500 words. An anonymous scholar considers the food and drink customary during Elven pregnancy. Deliciously thoughtful and creative.

we could be kings by @queerofthedagger. T: 1600 words. The copper circlet Maitimo is crowned with is a work of art. He finds that he likes it much better on another's brow. Oh, babies.

Two Peredhil and an Elf in a Boat by @cycas. G: 5000 words. Elrond begins to make his peace with Earendil. Tender, humorous, touching.

precious stone set in the silver sea by rain_sleet_snow. G: 2000 words. A Celeborn/Galadriel origin story in which he is a Teler from Alqualonde. Gorgeous. Read the rest of the series, too.

The Warning Sounds Too Late by @eilinelsghost. T: 6000 words. Part 18 of the fabulous Atandil (Finrod/Beor) series, featuring a family dinner that, like so many, sparks insights and regrets.

The Sound Below Sound by @adnirod. T: 35K. Gimleaf eloquence and angst and beauty. Spectacular.

Detour by @dawnfelagund. T: 8K. Reborn Maedhros is resigned to a gloomy life as a teacher in Fifth Age Tirion. Then Fingon Returns, with hope (and stickers).

Defiant Hope, Take Wing, by @lordnelson100. T: 10K. Halenthir: an alternative ending to the War of the Jewels, and a heartbreaker.
