オイルランタンの油漏れ改修

夏に買って9月末のソロキャンに持って行ったFutureFoxのオイルランタンが車の中で盛大にオイル漏れを起こしてくれたので、この尻癖の悪いキツネをしつけ直すことにした。

使うのはトイガンカスタム方面ではお馴染みの鉄パテ『JBウェルド』で、固まるのにほぼ1日かかるが固まればドリルで穴を開けたりネジを切ったりもできる凄まじい強度を発揮する。 本当は塗装を落としてから付けるのが最善の結果をもたらすのだが、今回は目止めが目的なので洗浄と脱脂だけにとどめておく。

■問題個所を把握

タンク底板と側板の間が0.5mm以上の隙間になっており、これならいつ油漏れが起きてもおかしくない。購入当初に漏れなかったのは運が良かったか、この隙間に空気が入っていてパラフィンオイルの表面張力により侵入を辛うじて塞いでいたのであろう。ほぼ「偶然防げていた」と言ってもいい。 さらにタンクのネック部分付け根も0.2mmほどの隙間があるので、これも埋める必要がある。

■パテで埋めろ

露骨すぎるぐらい原因が明らかだったので、即パテで埋めた。こいつは固まるともう少し暗い色調の黒鉄色になり、タンクの塗装とほぼ同じような風合いになるから全く目立たない。

もちろんネック部分も埋めた。車内で揺れた時に漏れたらしきオイルがこのあたりにもついていたので、やって損はない。

■ついでにOリングもつけてしまえ

ついでに1mm厚のニトリルゴムシートを外径42mm内径32mmに切り出してパッキンにした。もしかしたら外径が1-2mm足りないかもしれないが、まあ無いよりはまし。

The last we heard from German producer Futurefox, he gave us a stunning electronic genre bending remix of Oh Wonder's Rain. Now, he's back with an original, a hypnotic song named On My Mind. On My Mind carries a saccharine, melancholic atmosphere, emphasized greatly by enchanting, beautiful vocals. FutureFox infuses the track with plenty of future bass grandiosity, including shimmering, pulsing vibrancy and uplifting progressions. Every intricate element and nuanced quality come together to form a euphoric, blissed out, and melodic listen. Skittering drum and bass rolls add to the song's addictive, captivating tendencies, nearly taking center stage with its highly textured delivery. The producer even unleashed some visuals to go along with the powerhouse electronic song, which you can stream below. Dreamy and wistful, Oh My Mind leaves me in a pensive, hushed state afterwards, which not many EDM tracks can do.

It wasn't long, no more than a week, after she'd taken the throne that she faced her first challenger. He was a wolf, from the southern territory. His hair was a shiny brown, and she was startled by how small he looked from her dais. Like the other wolves she'd met, he wore a pelt around his waist, but forewent the furry pauldrons and leggings. Instead he wore the classic iron armor with bamboo covering his shoulders, a compromise to the region's heat.

"I was trained for the position for over two hundred years," she retorted, bored already with his argument.

"A woman's not fit to be ruler," he snarled, and the kitsune didn't bother to cover her face as she rolled her eyes. His eyes traveled over her clothes, noting how instead of 12 layers, she wore only three. The first layer was  a sky blue, the color her father had worn, the second white, and the third white with a blue pattern. However, she'd taken other liberties, her sleeves almost as short as a man's, and her kimono was far too short, ending halfway below her knees, and was that... was that a red sashinuki beneath he saw? "You're such a disgrace," he spat, and the fox rolled her eyes again. He dashed forward, and suddenly he was in front of her, grabbing her by the hair and threw her from her seat.

More than a little upset, she growled at him as she caught herself, skidding back on her feet. So he really was that short, at least a head shorter than her. The courtiers didn't speak, holding their breaths as they watched further history unfold. The wolf was on her again as she stood, tackling to the ground. "I'll show a wench like you her place," he growled, a wicked gleam in his eye. 

Just because it was impossible, didn't mean that the threat wasn't terrifying on its own. She kneed him in the balls, rolling backward with him while he was dazed to kick him off of her and out the front door. They'd barely finished rebuilding after her battle with the previous Lord, and she'd be damned if she'd subject her people for that. 

She undid her obi and shimmied out of her clothes, grabbing her shakujo before running to the courtyard. The wolf was out there, livid, eyes red with his rage. He snarled at her, and she kekkered in annoyance at him. She thrusted her shakujo at him, holy fire flying from it towards him. The red in his eyes disappeared from shock, and he vanished again, stopping right in front of her. This time she met him with her shakujo, shoving the charged pole against his chest with both hands.

She was rewarded with the smell of burnt flesh, and she winced internally. Beneath his armour, that had to hurt! But no, no matter her miko nature, she couldn't care, not when this man was trying to kill her. If she was lucky. While Zokki was flinching, she jabbed at him with the finial, piercing his torso just below his breastplate. Her shakujo dripped blood as she withdrew it, and she was rewarded with a clawed slap across the face.

"Stupid bitch," he growled, wincing. "I bet you had to fuck your own father for this position." She was stunned at his vulgarity, not sure whether be offended for the late snake or herself. Her head was still turned to the side, but as the blood dripped, you could taste its purity.

Fuck.

Zokki hadn't expected purity. He'd thought the burn was just fox fire, and suddenly he realized he'd gotten into more than he expected. When he stopped blinking he saw the fox supporting herself on her staff and her foot diving right toward his face. He hadn't expected that either, he winced to himself, picking himself up off the ground and spitting out blood. The fox stood in front of him now, a fierce look in her eyes. Fire. The same holy fire that ran through her veins and that she had thrown at him.

"I do not want to leave your pack without their alpha." What she'd said made him take a step back, wary. 

"If you leave now, I won't purify you." He looked at the ears on her head, and at her seven tails. She had years and years on him, the fact hidden by the robes she'd worn earlier. And she was a priestess. He hadn't stood a chance. His tail unbushed, and curled between his legs. 

"Y...yes... M-my L..." Zokki cringed as he tried to make himself say the words. "My Lady." The fox stepped back, satisfied.

"Get out. Don't come back unless you need something and have an apology with you." She turned on her heel, striding back into the palace. She bypassed the reception room and walked to her quarters as quickly as she could. Now that she controlled the Southern Lands, she couldn't afford to show weakness in front of her people.

That didn't stop her from breaking down into harsh sobs when she closed the door to her quarters.
