HIII So I’ve been at the Otakuthon and as I said, Toshio Furukawa (Portgas D. Ace’s japanese voice actor) was there! ❤️
I went cosplaying Ace, like this:
Tumblr media
I couldn’t get his autograph because I was too late and there was a limit of people, I didn’t know. I cried but then ran to assist his panel!
To his panel, he did Ace’s dying moment and I cried, of course. Then I had the chance to ask him a question!
My question: I’m thinking about Ace’s last moments. Whenever you have to record an emotional moment like this, does it takes many takes during the recording or it’s one shot because it’s very emotional?
His answer: First, no one told him that Ace was going to die so he was like "why no one told me?" And everyone told him "we couldn’t tell you!" And he woke up this morning, not wanting to go work. He was thinking "today I’m dying". But ofc he went. Then, recording it, it took 3 takes. Because at the beginning he was thinking "he got a hole in his chest, I’ll do it like he struggle breathing." But they told him to change it because Ace was very strong but happy during his last moments since he was with Luffy. This is why his tone is very "soft".
Another interesting thing he said about voicing Ace was, Ace is very strong so he will be like "Luffy is so reckless and uneducated and stuff" BUT since he loves deeply, he will then soften his tone to say right after "I hope he’s ok" because he do loves his brother very much ❤️
Lastly, before leaving, he came to see me and told me that he really loved my cosplay. And this is where I died ❤️

promise | iwaoi
short haikyuu fanfic, 1.2k wc!
Tumblr media
tropes: unrequited love, angst. pairing: iwaizumi hajime x oikawa toru. i don’t really like this but enjoy!!
Tumblr media
iwaizumi hajime has never liked making promises. he tells himself it’s because they’re too childish, but, really, he’s just afraid of breaking one. that’s why he only makes promises when he’s sure he can go through with it. thus, the few he does make, he makes sure to remember.
that’s why he hasn’t forgotten the promise he made to oikawa nearly a decade ago. he remembers exactly how it happened, too.
they were walking out of the gym together after another grueling practice. it was silent, and iwaizumi was savoring the scent of the night air and the feeling of the breeze against his skin. he was startled when oikawa suddenly spoke up next to him.
“hey, iwa-chan, will you make me a promise?”
iwaizumi raised his brow at the spontaneity of the question, indicating for him to elaborate further.
“don’t look at me like that!” oikawa whined, “i just wanted to ask you to be the best man at my wedding.”
iwaizumi hesitated for just an instant as he considered the question. it wouldn’t be difficult to fulfill, as he was sure that oikawa would keep contact with him even after they’d part ways after high school.
“sure.”
oikawa’s face, which previously held a pleading expression, broke into a wide grin, and iwaizumi couldn’t stop himself from smiling a little at the sight.
now, as he stared at the wedding invitation on his nightstand, all he could think was that he had never regretted a decision more.
the top of the envelope read, in handwriting once so familiar to iwaizumi, “oikawa tooru and furukawa hana request the pleasure of your company at their wedding on april 24th. see disclosed letter for more information.”
as he skimmed the information on the letter, his mind wandered back to the night oikawa first introduced his soon-to-be wife to him.
it was at one of their annual reunions. after their graduation, things had gotten busy for the both of them, but they still tried to make time to meet up occasionally.
iwaizumi waited outside the restaurant as he checked the time on his phone. the location had been chosen by oikawa, and it was more extravagant than usual. likely because  he’d just landed another profitable modeling gig.
he couldn’t help but feel a little left behind. he was still in college, and while he wasn’t struggling financially, he didn’t feel like he had too much going for him. he wasn’t even sure about what he wanted to do as his career. meanwhile, oikawa was competing professionally and modeling for renowned brands across the world.
his thoughts were interrupted by oikawa’s voice calling his name. he looked up to greet him, but paused when he saw an unfamiliar figure standing next to oikawa.
recognizing the questioning expression on iwaizumi’s face, he cleared his throat and said, “this is my girlfriend, hana. hana, this is iwaizumi, my best friend.”
as iwaizumi said his greetings, he took in the woman’s appearance. she was pretty, and the polite smile she gave him was enough explanation for him as to why oikawa liked her.
he was happy, or at least he should’ve been, that his best friend had found his special someone. but he felt a discomfort in his stomach, one that lingered there for the rest of the meal that they shared together.
he thought about it a lot that night, after he returned to his apartment. he thought about how many relationships oikawa had been in in the past, and how none of them ever ended up going anywhere. he found himself thinking, possibly even hoping, that this time would be the same as all the previous ones.
he pushed the thought out of his head as quickly as it came, but a small part of it stayed, giving him just a sliver of hope. for what, exactly, he wasn’t sure.
it became clear over the next few months that that wasn’t the case. she went to almost all of their annual meetups, and the two of them seemed to only be getting closer and more in love.
the nauseous feeling in his stomach during the meals they shared only got worse as well, and the indigestion he’d get afterwards became unbearable.
he told himself that the feeling was jealousy; he was just jealous that oikawa had found his person and he hadn’t yet, that he needed to get a girlfriend of his own.
he began intentionally missing their get-togethers. just a few every once in a while, then not going to any of them all together. iwaizumi convinced himself it was because he needed to focus on college and his career path, and that oikawa was getting busy as well.
he’d gone on many blind dates in the time period following, hoping to find a partner. but he didn’t click with any of them, couldn’t bring himself to feel anything. so he gave up, despite his best efforts.
the memory of his promise to oikawa hung around in the back of his head like an annoying pest, and he hoped, even prayed, that it wouldn’t become an obligation he’d have to fulfill in the near future.
but, of course, fate is cruel.
as he reached the bottom of the invitation, he noticed a small note, written by none other the groom himself.
“you promised you’d come. we’re expecting to see you there!” followed by a messy winky face, identical to the one oikawa would make when he got caught for doing or saying something stupid.
he sat on the side of his bed, staring at the letter for what felt like an eternity, daring it to vanish into thin air with his mind. he contemplated not going hundreds of times, and reread oikawa’s message an even greater number of times.
in the end, he’d find himself going to the nearest tailor’s shop to get himself a suit a week later. april 24th was only getting closer, after all.
when he arrived at the venue, and saw the familiar wide grin that spread across oikawa’s face when he saw him, iwaizumi knew it was worth it.
when they made small talk as if they hadn’t not spoken in almost a year, and oikawa patted his back as he said, “let’s catch up sometime, i’ve missed you,” iwaizumi knew he would’ve regretted missing it.
when he stood side by side with the groom at the altar and watched the his love-filled expression and watery eyes as the bride walked down the aisle, he realized that all this time, he wasn’t just jealous of their relationship. it wasn’t a competitive feeling like envy like he’d thought it was. no, in reality, he was simply in love with oikawa toru.
when they kissed after the officiant finished his speech, he made a second promise to oikawa: he would never let him find out he was in love with him.

Cherry Magic / 30-sai made Doutei dato Mahoutsukai ni nareru rashii Episode 2
< Ep 1 | >
This episode is once again, one of the most self-aware BL anime/mangas I've seen in a while, and it makes me so happy.
It's playing with so many BL/Yaoi tropes, and you think you know where it's going, but then it goes in the more realistic direction of what would actually happen!
We get a new character introduction, Adachi's childhood friend Masato, who is voiced by a SUPER BIG NAME VOICE ACTOR - Furukawa, Makoto - Saitama from OPM, Benimaru!!! from Tensura, Taijuu from Dr. Stone, and best of all Mah Boy Woo Jin Chul from Solo Leveling!! He's also Shirogane from Kaguya-sama, Hatsuharu Souma from Fruits basket, and fricken Zacherroni from Magus Bride 2. I could go on. Big Name yo.
Screenshots & Spoilers Below the Cut!
First off... I'm so happy that Adachi's best friend isn't actually in love with him. The ending of Episode 1 super implied that that was the turn this was going to take, but no, Masato is just his friend who happens to be a romance novel and DOES in fact know Adachi best! But not in a sleazy or creepy or yandere way.
Tumblr media
Masato might have pointed all of these out, but at least he also commented on those being the reasons why Kurosawa probably likes him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm Surprised by the fact that I'm Surprised lmfao A virgin talking to a virgin for advice - lol, but the advice is decent at least.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It sets Adachi on the right road to actually thinking about himself and his own feelings, because he's already worried about trying not to hurt Kurosawa by trying to figure out how to act. I love how focused Adachi is on making sure not to hurt Kurosawa's feelings. He's such a cutie.
I LOVE THAT NONE OF THIS SEEMS ODD. MASATO IS NOT SURPRISED HIS FRIEND MIGHT BE A BISEXUAL DISASTER. NO FORBIDDEN ROMANCE HERE!!! There's touches, especially later in the episode where they draw straws and are forced to kiss for their coworker's entertainment, of mentioning that it might be awkward for a(n assumed) straight man to be kissed by another man. But whether homosexuality is accepted or not in this world, that's true. Whether its between a man and a woman, being put on the spot to suddenly be kissed is awkward. And they treat this situation equally, and it's so refreshing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kurosawa doesn't need to be able to read Adachi's mind to know that he's freaked out, and I assume that KUROSAWA assumes it's because Adachi is about to be kissed by a man. And he doesn't force it! Yay! Almost consensual!! Which is a lot to ask for sometimes with your standard BL.
But also, LMFAO at the translation of STUD.
We then get a whole scene that plays out like your standard BL, and could have gone that route...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How is Adachi getting away with these subtle touches lolol But also this poor boy (Kurosawa).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part of me wonders how this could possibly have played out if Adachi didn't have mind reading abilities, but that's the whole point of this entire story, so this story COULDN'T HAPPEN without that aspect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I KNEW this wasn't actually going to go anywhere but I sure was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how this would play out!
In some ways Adachi's ability to read minds almost comes off as a kind of an unfair advantage because it gives him extra information which he COULD then use to manipulate the situation, but if you bring in the idea of Power Imbalance between two people in a relationship, it's actually a big part of leveling the playing field between them, especially when you have Kurosawa in the position of the "aggressor" even though he hasn't really been all that aggressive until this scene, and Adachi in the more passive receiving position, being inexperienced and unaware of his possible interest in men.
Also, it's hard to figure out how just Unreliable of a Narrator Adachi is, because we're constantly in his head, while we also get bits and pieces of the people around him, but it's always then filtered through Adachi's reaction to those thoughts.
Final thoughts by jumping backwards! Cake Scene! Adachi to the rescue!! The whole reason for the drinking party!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ADACHI. WHERE ARE YOU TOUCHING. WHY THERE.
Tumblr media
This man is so happy to have his fucking cake. Fucking tsunderes man lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As shitty as it would be to be able to constantly listen in to the thoughts of everyone around you (intrusive thoughts anyone?), I'm so glad Adachi was happy with finally having a good use of his ability.
This whole story continues to put a smile on my face, and I'm enjoying every episode. I think the only thing that throws me off every once in a while is the art and animation style, but I'm don't know jack about shit with that except the eyes keep making me thinking I'm watching Initial D, and there are some weird angle choices that give characters giant yaoi necks/hands/body parts lol.
Overall rating so far: 8/10! I might go buy the manga for this!

Heyoo I saw your tags! Thank you for being lovely! Sorry for the ask haha I couldn't message so thought this was the best way to respond haha. Also good to see you back here, it's been ages! How have you been? How's life been treating you, my lovely?
Hi! Haha, no worries, it was a sweet and welcome surprise~
And man, I hadn't realized how much time passed until I checked and saw it's been over a year 💀💀💀 It has been a relief to see a lot of familiar faces though. I spent a lot of time settling into work and preparing for my degree this fall, so I had less time to simp. But things are good! Mostly just been reading Celeste Ng's newest book All Our Missing Hearts and playing Pokemon Violet over the break because I caved after seeing the Tinkaton memes 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I now have a shiny one, and she is a menace to all Corviknights everywhere 🤣
Needless to say I've also been doing Comte events throughout the time I was away, so I may be discussing a few of the translations if I have the spoons over the next few months. Honestly he's still full of surprises, the drama CD they released a few weeks ago for him had a lot of fascinating tidbits--perhaps my favorite of which is how desperately he wants MC in a black dress. I do love it when my faves go full baby girl, but I digress; that's gushing for another time, I'm sure 🤣
I hope you've been well, too! I wish you all the best, always 💛💛💛

I gave the first episode of the new adaptation of Urusei Yatsura a watch. I'm...conflicted.On the one hand, it's really visually pretty, with some very nice moments of super fluid animation. I like the subtle color effect that makes Lum's hair look like it's glowing, and the line weight of the art does give a more manga-esque vibe than the original anime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The new voice actors do an admirable job of reminding me of the originals. which is almost a shame: Hiroshi Kamiya and Sumire Uesaka probably felt like they *had* to just do impersonations of Toshio Furukawa and Hirano Fumi rather than giving their own unique take on the characters. The OP isn't bad but isn't nearly as memorable as "Lum no Love Song", and it oddly shows Ataru with a modern smartphone, but the show itself seems to be an incredibly faithful adaptation of the original manga, landline phones, tiny analog TVs and all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And adaptation of the manga is probably the best description: It's much closer to Takahashi's original manga than the original anime, at least in this episode. And therein lies the conundrum: I've always sorta preferred the original anime to the manga. The anime gave a lot of the background characters much more time to shine compared to the manga, which primarily focused on Ataru, Lum, Shinobu and a few others. I guess we'll see if this new version does the same, or if it also branches off a bit.
Tumblr media
I'm interested enough to give it another few episodes, but so far I don't think it'll override the nostalgia pull the original has for me.

What are your Headcanons for the Black butler character's and for your Oc's?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please enjoy one of my favorite scenes from all of the openings as thanks
Tumblr media
I will take any chance to talk about my child, let’s go. First though, some CC Headcanons. I’m going to focus on the Reapers for now, but it’s still going to be quite a long one. CW: this one gets dark every now and then. I talk about suicide quite a bit.
To start, I have this general Headcanon that when they aren’t using their scythes, the Reapers store them as jewelry and the like. The item itself doesn’t transform, but lets them to summon it magical-girl style.
Also, I made this, so enjoy. Tier list of who I think would win in a 1v1 match.
Tumblr media
Grell Sutcliff
Ohohohohoho…. I am so excited to talk about my wife, let me tell you!
I like to believe her hair is naturally red, it’s just another nice similarity between her and Angelina.
As a human, she had a younger sister named Ember. They used to be 5 years apart- Grell was older- but Ember is in her late sixties now and…
Grell died at 23. It was a small funeral that was only really attended by a few close friends and her sister. Neither of her parents attended.
It’s a pretty common headcanon, but I believe that she bled to death. I don’t think that she was a stranger to self harm, and it eventually killed her.
I’m trying really hard to put these in chronological order but let’s jump back a few years. There were only a few people that she was closed to as a human.
There was the barkeep that kept her employed in downtown London, a kind man with knowing eyes, her upstairs neighbor, who always gave away clothes no longer worn by her or her two daughters, and, yet again, her younger sister. They made up the majority of the crowd at her funeral.
Back to some happy things, she was a bartender! This idea makes me really happy and I love it so much and it’s kinda hot and I think it fits her pretty well.
This one is going to seem crazy. But I have this very specific idea of what her favorite color it. #d90d32 is a deep red with a hint of purple mixed in. Colors are very important to me, okay?
Back to the idea of scythes being ‘stored’ in jewelry, hers is her glasses chain. Without the chain, she can’t summon or store her scythe!
Not back to another human thing, her eyes were green. Kinda like a dark emerald green, if you can picture that.
As for ships, I have a lot of Grell ships. My favorites are Sebagrell (sometimes), Grellron, Grellthello, Grellrin, Greric, and Grellronilliam. I also ship Grell/Ron/Eric/Will/Alan, but I don’t think it has a name.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. No one who wears a long coat is straight. Wearing a trench coat or trench-adjacent coat just makes you a Bisexual
I just finished writing this but I had an idea. I love Jun Furukawa, but I’m not sold that he’s the best VA for Grell. I was thinking who might be better, but I could never come up with anything. Until now. Aoi Shota should voice Grell. Im tired. Goodnight, think about it, and your realise that I’m not only right but the smartest person in the world.
Ronald Knox
I know it doesn’t make sense, but I love the idea of him being, like, barely 18, maybe even younger depending on the fic. Listen, it’s my headcanon and I get to be as unrealistic as I want.
That, or he’s 20, maybe 21 at most.
Unlike Grell, I think that he does die his hair. His natural color is the dark brown.
For his scythe, I like to think it might be the expensive watch he has. Speaking of the watch, I believe that it was a gift that was given to him when he was a human.
After he becomes a full-fledged Reaper, I think he could be one of the really good ones. He’s been trained by Grell for who knows how long, and she’s one of the best at combat that we know of.
Pansexual Ron is canon in my heart. Let him kiss boys and girls…,..,.,.,,,.,.,.,
Grellron and Ronilliam are good. I really gotta capitalize on that Pan headcanon, though, so I’ll mention Grellronilliam one more time.
Just thought of it now, but Demiboy Ronald Knox.
William T. Spears
I refuse to believe that Grell couldn’t beat him in a duel. Same with Eric. He could beat Ron or Alan, though. Undertaker would probably destroy him.
He’s probably anywhere from 28-32, biologically, at least.
As a human, I think he was probably just a face in the crowd, just another worker. His previous (unimportant) job eventually led him to suicide.
After that, he fell victim to the same monotonous lifestyle that had ended his previous chance. I think there’s a lot of irony in this idea, and I love exploring it in my works.
Othello
NB Othello, NB Othello, NB Othello, NB Othello, NB Othello. It’s my comfort character and I get to self project however much I want! He/They Othello, next question.
They were a scientist as a human, too. I assume you need some sort of prior knowledge to become a scientist in the afterlife. As for his field, I’m stuck between engineering and an early form of genetics/nursing.
Okay, now this is one of those ideas that I half love half hate, and it’s about a possible seiyuu for Othello. Please keep in mind that this doesn’t take info consideration the different agencies and studios and all that. The reason I hate this is because I’m not the hugest fan of the anime. The movies are great, the manga is amazing, and the musicals are fucking fantastic. But, I’m not the biggest fan of the anime. Tangent but out of all three seasons three is the best and two is the worst, one is just OK. At first, I liked the idea of Jun Fukuyama because I think he did great and Shinra in Durarara, but then I remembered that he already voices Grell so I decided to go with Eguchi Takuya. Saito Soma and Ono Kensho were my other ideas, but Eguchi Takuya I think fits Othello the most.
I’m 50/50 on whether or not he dies his hair. I’m leaning towards it being natural, purely because of how much of a pain in the ass it is to have green hair. I’ve dyed my hair every color of the rainbow and green was my least favorite. It fades super quickly and you gotta get lucky for it to look good. Either way, they pull it off pretty well.
There is so many good Othello ships! Grellthello and Underthello both have a special place in my heart, though. Ronthello is a dirty pleasure, too.
Othello’s age varies the most out of all of them, in my mind. One of my notes says I was writing him as 31, but while typing this I was going to say, like, 25.
Alan Humphries
I had to summon 2019 me to come up with this one, but a good Japanese VA for him would be Ishikawa Kaito or, again, Saito Soma. Or Matsumoto Shinya, but that seemed liked cheering.
His scythe- in my HC- is his bolo tie, a graduation gift from Grell.
Alan Humphries is Gay. Unless I feel like shipping Grell/Ron/Eric/Alan/Will, then I’ll write him as Bi.
When he first woke up as a Reaper, he had to relearn how to walk. He had been sick as a human, too, and forgot most of that sort of stuff. Luckily, Eric was there to help him, and it was the start of his crush on the other.
He died of… negligence? Purposeful negligence of one’s self? Not taking care of himself and ultimately paying the price, knowing full well he had been sick for a while.
He probably died in his mid/late twenties. I just can’t see him as older than that due to my previous HC of him dying after he gets sick young.
Eric Slingby
If I can’t have Taisuke Saeki, then I want Mamoru Miyano to voice Eric. That’s it, there is no other options that I could come up with.
Slingphries and- I can’t believe I’m dying this- Sebric are the best ships for Eric. That’s it.
Actually, thinking about the seiyuu thing some more, Kishō Taniyama would also be good.
Bisexual-Aromantic!Eric x Gay!Alan
As a human, I think his eyes would have been blue. Also appearance-wise, he totally dyes his hair. The blind part is totally bleached.
He and Ron do each other’s hair. It why the colors are so similar, it’s the same product. Othello makes it for them.
I I know that he has the one love piercing but I think he should have more than that. A bridge would look good but it would be a pain with his glasses. Industrial would be cool too, tho. Also, his scythe could be the one piercing he does have.
I normally write him as around 31. But that varies by a bit on a fic-by-fic basis.
I don’t completely understand the Scottish!Eric idea. I know it’s supposed to be based on his last name- Slingby. But, I looked into it, and didn’t find much. Looking up ‘Slingby last name’ and the third result was for his wiki page. Furthermore, in 1881, Slingby wasn’t even most common in Scotland. In fact, I only found 1 mention of a Scottish Slingby, and it’s from Edinburgh, 1367. Also, it’s spelled Slyngsby.
This is a good connector into the next part of my research: the surname Slingsby. The much more popular sibling of Slingby. Except, it’s also not a Scottish name! It’s an English name originating from Yorkshire. There’s also a Norse version that is spelled Selungesbi, which I thought was cool, but not important. There are thousands of public records for Slingsby’s, but only a few hundred Slingby’s.
Now, I really like the idea. I think it’s cool to imagine a Reaper from a different part of England, and how they might have ended up in the London branch. So, I use and enjoy the headcanon, but it’s more than that. I’m also fascinated by how this whole thing started! In the Slingphries fandom (which might as well be a whole separate thing than the rest of the fandom) it’s a really popular thing! I don’t know if I just missed something in my research, or if it really was just one guys idea that spread and spread and spread. Either way, it’s cool, I like it, but it doesn’t have much evidence going for it. I might make a whole post about this later, too.
It also might just be a mistranslation. スリングビー (Suringubī) could be pronounced a number of different ways. Kind of like how Sascha’s name (ザシャ) is pronounced Zāsha in Japanese. Names are weird and difficult to translate, I know from experience.
Undertaker
Don’t think about this one too much (it will stop making sense). I think he killed himself via decapitation. It would explain the one scar along his neck. Not the one on his face, though.
He was blind as a human, which is why he’s able to go without glasses as a Reaper. Even some vision is more than he had been used to before.
I really don’t have that many UT ships, but I’ll list a few that I’ve read and liked. Grelltaker, Underthello, Willtaker, Sebastian/Undertaker.
I also don’t have a whole lot of HCs for him. I probably will once we get a bit more backstory for him, though. Idk, something just seems off about him in the manga so far.
And now, it’s time for the child. Here’s a quick refresher:
Tumblr media
This is E Foster, a.k.a Edwin, a.k.a Eddelyn, the forever fifteen year old Reaper. As a baby, they’re brought into the Reaper Realm momentarily after one of the Reapers decides to take action and figure out who to give them to after the death of their parents. This small bit of exposure gives them the ability to see the Reapers, an ability that ends up hurting them as they grow up. After killing themself, a new world filled with new people is opened up to them, and it includes a single couple that may or may not get more than what they bargained for when deciding to take in the teen.
If you want to know more- and have a fair bit of time on your hands- read the story I wrote about them a bit ago HERE.
I’m about to spoil a lot of their story, so just be aware.
They’re very close with most of the Reapers featured earlier. Most notable Alan and, by extension, Eric, whom they live with.
This also applies to Grell, who often acts as a sort of mentor to them, and buys them the things she wished she had had when she first transitioned. There’s the binder, for their deathday, their purple hair dye, a few different nail polishes, and some clothes. She reminds them of Amanda, sometimes.
There’s also Will, who they are sent quite as close with, but with whom they are still happy to be around. His tougher shell breaks down around them, and he’s been known to smile in the child’s presence.
She’s also close with Ron, often playing with and learning about all the new technology they now have access to. I didn’t get to write about it much, but Othello is similar to Ron. He teaches them about forensics and all the cool machines the humans haven’t quite discovered yet.
Their adoptive mother, Amanda Carter (Alexander’s older sister) is actually Aroace. She’s an unmarried school teacher in South London.
Their friend Kathy Foster is a lesbian. I implied it heavily, but I’m not actually sure I ever confirmed it. She shares a name with one of the background characters in my Red Angels Series.
He relates the most to Grell and Othello. With Grell, he can talk about how much his gender ended up affecting their overall life, and Othello shares the same medical past as them. Both them and Othello died due to something related to medicines and chemicals.
In the story, I didn’t get to go into detail about the asylum as much as I wanted, but I’ll do it now! That exclamation point is a lie, this is not exciting or happy.
Anyways. She was only 10! 10! They (I) forced a child into a mental asylum at 10! The medications were for fully grown adults, not a small child, which is why they have such a strong effect. Also, as was popular at the time, they were made up of extremely strong street drugs :) how fun!
The average day also included being locked in a room for hours at a time while the doctors and nurses attended to other patients. All the while, they weren’t allowed to see Amanda at all.
Had Amanda survived, I think they still would have OD’d adhering hearing the news about returning to the asylum. The place was too horrible to ever go back to.
At first, Will had been the subject of her nightmares. The man that had killed Amanda and who knows how many tigers. But, after learning more, they start to be able to stand him.
The same way Grell introduces them to Eden (my other OC, a supporting character in the story) in order to teach them about their gender. Ron does the same for their shared bisexuality. I imagine Ron as someone who is very open and honest about it, and E respects his openness and experience.
In conclusion, while I won’t say that the idea started as a way to get Eric and Alan to adopt a child reaper- it was actually supposed to be a huge found family with all the reapers- I also won’t deny that it turned into that towards the end.
Thank you so much for the request; and I’ll be sure to get the rest of my inbox soon ~<3

DIGIWEEK Day 3: Music
OK SO I didn’t actually think I was going to be making a compilation post like this but it turns out just thinking about Digimon music makes me incredibly emotional because I love it all SO!!!!!! Much. It is the primary way my love of Digimon has stayed strong all these years; no matter what else is going on, and even when I haven’t had access to the shows themselves, I’ve been able to carry the songs with me, and they have been (and continue to be) so incredibly comforting, inspiring, and downright moving that I can’t not share some of my absolute favorites:
youtube
Towa ni Tsuzuke!! Taichi Yagami/Toshiko Fujita, Digimon 10th Anniversary
Every Taichi song is an absolutely gorgeous work of art, but this one gives me so many feelings, and is so incredibly important to me personally. I’ve said it elsewhere, but there was a time when this song was literally the first thing I listened to every Monday morning to get myself ready for the workweek. I WILL very often sing along at top volume in my car, and there isn’t anything anyone can do to stop me. Rest in Peace Ms Fujita, I can’t even begin to describe what your voicework on Taichi has meant to me throughout my life.
https://youtu.be/Amw52e7LSEU
REACH FOR YOU Daisuke Motomiya/Reiko Kiuchi, Natsu e no Tobira 02 audio drama
My absolute favorite Daisuke song, and once again, that is saying a LOT. It’s so hauntingly beautiful, with so much feeling behind it (You have to click through to YouTube to listen, but trust me when I say IT IS WORTH IT!!).
youtube
Tobira DOOR (Acoustic Version) Yamato Ishida/Yuuto Kazama, Tegami ~Letter~ 02 audio drama
[Note: the actual song starts at about the 1 minute 30 mark, and there is a several-minute-long silence on the back end for some reason!]
Both versions of this song are gorgeous, but I think I prefer the acoustic one just a teeny bit more. It just feels so personal and intimate, which, given the context of the drama (Yamato wrote and performed this song for an unnamed girl to help her get through a difficult operation), makes so much sense-- and once again, such an emotional performance. Like most things related to Digimon and music, they didn’t have to go this hard, but they did, and I’m so incredibly grateful obscure gems like this exist (not sure if its existence is a testament to Digimon’s popularity, Yamato’s, or both XD). The seagulls at the end are such a perfect way to cap off the audio drama too, conjuring imagery of a cold, nearly-empty beach in winter, and I’m still in love with the cover art.
youtube
Yuuki o Uketsugu Kodomotachi e Wada Koji, Maeda Ai, Miyazaki Ayumi, Hassy, Ohta Michihiko, Wild Child Bound, Sammy, Tanimoto Takayoshi, We Love DiGiMONMUSiC
Oh geez! All of these are just like, REALLY EMOTIONAL SONGS, sorry about that! Well, this one is yet another “I can’t believe I get to experience so many beautiful things in my earbuds, wow Digimon fans are really spoiled” type of song, and features all the big names and players. I love how their voices come in and out and harmonize together! <3
youtube
Slow Starter Yuujin Oozora & Offmon/Makoto Furukawa & Yu Shimamura, Digimon Universe Appli Monsters Character Song & Original Soundtrack
Hey this one is bright and happy! ...kind of. Once again, THE HARMONIES, MAN. And I just love how Yuujin is so comforting and supportive of his Buddy throughout. It’s such a great duet, and the ending is just so sweet T^T
I'll catch you (you'll catch me) tightly, tightly, tightly I'll never, ever, ever, leave you We'll shut, shut out the hesitation that plagues you (me) Slowly, bit by bit, I'll go towards where you are
youtube
Daisuki-ism, Patamon/Miwa Matsumoto, Digimon Adventure Tri Character Song Album (Digimon Version)
OK, OK! This is the last one, I promise. And FINALLY something cute for cute’s sake (just don’t think about Confession. DON’T THINK! ABOUT! CONFESSION!). I’m guilty of always liking Patamon’s songs. They literally never fail to make me smile. Patapata!!

30-day seiyuu challenge/appreciation week 4 + 2 days
Finally got the time to post this!  Got really delayed because so many things got in the way...my computer decided to stop cooperating...tumblr also decided to whisk part of my draft away...
Anyway! here’s the last week for the challenge~ I don’t even know if what I typed makes sense.
Hey, if you guys want to do the 30-day seiyuu challenge (whether mine or someone else’s), can you please let me know? I want to read more appreciation posts for seiyuus~
If you want to see more posts filled with fangirling and my opinions, here is the link to week 3.
22. Seiyuu with fastest voice change
Shimazaki  Nobunaga
Just listen to his character Kaido Shun…
Tumblr media
And this guy…
Tumblr media
You'll know what I mean.  The way he shifts in pitch is near instant.
23. Seiyuu with best main character roles
Nakamura Yuuichi
He doesn’t get casted as those typical loud, heroic, shounen main characters, but you'll want to root for his characters.  (hmm, actually you'll like his characters even though they're support characters.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He just… "owns" the character he voices.  Once I hear him voice a character, I can't really imagine that character being voiced by anyone else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel that his voice really improves the character too; adding depth to the character.
Special Mention: Hanae Natsuki I'm personally not a fan, but I have to admit that he is talented.
Tumblr media
He is given a lot of main character roles and he excels at it. He is given a lot of main character roles and he excels at it.
Tumblr media
24. Seiyuu with best support roles
Kimura Ryohei
I don't know why, but I tend to like his characters more when they're not the main lead.
His characters tend to make others shine and become more memorable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
25. Favorite seiyuu duo/ combination
Kimura Ryohei + Nobunaga Shimazaki
I'll go ahead and say it, I was very biased for this item.  They don't really get much projects together unlike other seiyuu duos (Kamiya Hiroshi + Ono Daisuke, Fukuyama Jun + Sakurai Takahiro)  but they're dynamics as theGreed pair just worked so well for me.
Tumblr media
I just really, really love their tandem as Licht and Lawless!
I loved it even more when I saw clips of the live Servamp event.
Tumblr media
I hope to see more combinations like this in the future.
Another duo I like is Nakamura Yuuchi + Fukuyama Jun.  Ratio and Birthday was a great tandem.
Tumblr media
26. Seiyuus you always mistake for the other
Hatano Wataru and Konishi Katsuyuki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sound so similar to me.
I actually thought these guys were voiced by Hatano Wataru until I checked the credits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, they were actually casted as son and father once (the Yaotomes in Idolish7)
Tumblr media
I guess I'm not alone in thinking that they do have some similarities?
27. Underrated seiyuu
Kimura Subaru I don't think he gets much main voice acting roles.  (Well at least Hypmic got an anime now.)  He has this unique voice which sounds refreshing.
I myself didn't really notice him before until someone pointed out to me how great he was in voicing Terasaka and Kanba.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Furukawa Makoto
Tumblr media
Aside from Saitama (One-Punch Man) people rarely talk about his roles.
I think he deserves more recognition for his voice work.
I was a bit disappointed when Taiju only got appearances in the earlier episodes of Dr. Stone.  I hope he gets a bigger role in the next season!
Tumblr media
Did you know he did the narration in the Saiki Kusuo Psi-nan anime?
Tumblr media
I like his voice as Hatsuharu too.
Tumblr media
28. Seiyuu who deserves better roles
Ono Yuki
His voice range is so flexible!
I always get pleasantly surprised when I find out that he was the voice behind a character. He's one of those seiyuus who make you remember the character, not the voice actor.
Sadly, I feel like everytime he is one of the main characters, he ends up getting outshined or forgotten...because other seiyuus are more popular.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kawanishi Kengo
Really impressive work in 3an-gatsu no lion!
Tumblr media
I think he deserves more leading roles!  He did get the lead role in Junjo no Magmell.  The anime had so much potential, but I felt that it could have ended better.
Tumblr media
He was also perfect as Asagiri Gen in Dr. Stone!
Tumblr media
29. Seiyuu who works well with other seiyuus
Miyu Irino
I can't really describe it well.  But Miyu Irino (both character and voice) just blends into whatever role is given to him.
Classic example is Tachibana Chizuru from Kimi to Boku…like...he just established himself in their circle.
Tumblr media
I guess he does get a lot of “outsider” characters who find their way in becoming a core part of a group.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One minute it’s “look at this wild card” and the next minute it’s “since when did you guys get all so chummy?!”
As expected of an experienced voice actor!  He can make his voice work in any genre, any character, with any cast.
Hosoya Yoshimasa
He works so well with various tandems.
I have a friend who likes the Shimazaki Nobunaga + Hosoya Yoshimasa combi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I prefer the Miyano Mamoru + Hosoya Yoshimasa combi~
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whichever combi you like, there’s no denying his talent.  He has a good range of character types!
30. Seiyuus who gives characters life
Suzumura Kenichi
I'm not just talking about making the character lively. (like this adorable furball)
Tumblr media
Whether the character is energetic or not, young or not, Suzumura Kenichi makes the character so believable and real.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems to me that, no matter how minor, he makes each character memorable.
Tumblr media
and that’s a wrap for the seiyuu challenge~ (for now ^ ^ ) I did have fun doing this and now have even better appreciation for the work they do.  I hope I can repeat this challenge in the future~ there are still so many impressive seiyuus out there!

A/n:  Late night confessions, a few details of (Y/n)'s past and a very steamy scene...
Tumblr media
It was late in the evening, the sun almost gone, no one, except for the cleaners and security, was around in the lab. Changing his lab coat to the cleaner one, Asahi made his way to the pool with a big clothes trolley (I’m not sure how it’s called, is the big trolley that cleaners use to put all the dirty laundry), keeping his face hidden from the cameras, thanks to the basketball hat he found together with the other clothes. Cleaners had a special card, who allowed them to move freely around the lab, including the restricted part he was working in.
Opening the big door to the restricted area, he quickly made his way to his office, where cameras couldn’t film him. Running upstairs, he turned off the music, shouting for the mermaid name.
After not even a second, her head came to the surface, looking at the agitated man with questioning eyes.
“We need to go now, come here quick!”. Shock filled the girl's eyes, letting her jaw fall open. Her finger came out, signaling for the man that she wanted to communicate. Pointing her finger to herself, and then to the door from where Asahi came from with still her mouth agape, she asked for confirmation. “Yes, I’m taking you out of here, but we need to hurry, I don’t know how much time we still have before someone will come and check”.
Quickly giving a nod she signaled for him to wait with her finger, disappearing under water. After a couple of seconds she came back, with their photo in her hand. She swam to the edge, pulling herself out of the water. Strong harms picked her up, and for the first time -and hopefully last-, Asahi made his way down the stairs and into his office, where the trolley was waiting for them. “I’m gonna put you inside of it, okay? You need to stay hidden under those covers”. Gently placing her down, he tried to hide her body, but her tail was too long to fit inside. “Oh no! Your tail is picking out, they’ll see you… What should I do? I don't have a plan B for this!”. Sweat started forming on his forehead, blood started draining from his face, shock filled his eyes.
He messed up.
He needed to find a solution, and very fast. It was not time to panic, her life was in danger.
“-sai”.
A sweet, fragile voice came from behind him, making the man spin looking at the closed door- wait… If the door is closed, then who- “Asahi”. Brown iris slowly moved from the door, looking at the (h/c) haired girl, whose eyes were staring right back at him. His mouth opened, but no sounds escaped, making the very shocked guy look like a fish.
A giggle escaped the girl, moving her tail up in the air. Her scales started losing their bright colour, her beautiful fin slowly got smaller and smaller, taking the shapes of what seemed to be… Feet?
Her tail slowly separated, turning into two (s/c) legs. Folding her new legs, she repositioned the covers over her smaller body, hiding completely her skin from the cool breeze coming from the AC on the wall. Still shocked and gaping at her, the girl opened her mouth again “We need to hurry Asahi, we don’t have time”. Breaking him out of his trance at the mention of being caught, he fixed the covers one last time, making her body completely non visible for other curious eyes.
Pushing the trolly out of his office and out of the restricted area, he made his way on the elevator, pushing the 1st floor bottom.
The door opened, a corridor with just a couple of cameras appeared behind the elevator’s door. Entering the cleaning storage room, Asahi started searching around for clothes. After finding a sweater with the lab’s logo on it and a pair of shorts, he gently moved the covers. “You need to wear this, so you won’t look too suspicious, and now that you have legs we can move more easily to the parking lot”. Handing out his hand to her, he helped her out of the trolley, turning his back to give her privacy while changing. A light tap on his shoulder made him turn back around, making blood rush to his face at the view. The sweater was too big for her, it was covering her hands, making the girl fight for her fingertips to come out; The shorts were hidden by the top, making it look like she was wearing nothing under. If the situation was different, he would have taken a photo of how cute she looked- But now was not the time! He had a mission to finish.
Taking hold of her hand, he pulled her to the elevator, pushing the parking floor bottom. It was all going so smooth, even too smooth. That’s when the elevator stopped to the 3rd floor.
Panicked he took his hat off, putting it on top of the girl’s hair and pulling her behind his wide shoulders. His eyes widened at the man in front of him.
“Oh! Doctor Asahi, still here? It’s pretty late, did you fall asleep again on your desk?”.
Doctor Furukawa entered in the elevator, pushing a bottom and making the doors closing. Pulling the girl even more behind him, Asahi tried to maintain his voice stable. “Y-Yeah, I was really tired, you know how it is, the cold is making me even more sleepy…”. Smiling at the young man, his lips falled back into a line at the view of someone behind his shoulders. “Doctor Asahi… Who are them?”. His face became pale, sweat started coming from his hairline, shaky hands started to fidget with his top. “T-t-they are… They…”.
‘FUCK ASAHI WAKE UP! I need to find an excuse, and quick-’.
But before he could the elevator came to a stop, a bell sound preceding the opening door. Still terrified he looked at the Doctor stepping out of the small space, stopping right out of it. “I hope you are ready to face the consequences of your action Doctor Asahi, they’ll start a hunt for you…”. Gulping down Asahi nodded his head, only to realize he couldn’t see him with his back facing him. “Y-Yes… I’m ready for my destiny, but-”.
Turning back to face him he put a hand to block the door, making him stop in his sentence. “I knew from the start that you would have taken good care of her, your kind nature is a gift Asahi. I considered you as my own soon as soon as I saw you at the university. I saw your warm heart where everyone else saw only a scared mouse.” Opening his bag, he took a key out handing it to him. “This is my boat’s key. Save her my boy.” The door started closing. “Thank you Doctor Furukawa”, said Asahi, bowing to the man. A warm smile was the last thing he saw before the shiny metal closed. A tear made his way down his face, followed by a small sob. A cool finger caressed his cheek, drying it from the salted drop.
He opened his eyes, a warm smile appearing in his face at her worried expression. Putting his hand on top of hers, he turned his face, lips brushing against her palm. No words needed to be exchanged, the silent in that moment spoked for tousen of words.
Finally reaching their floor, they run to the car. Strapping her in, he made his way to the opposite side, strapping himself in. Turning on the car, a yelp escapes the girl’s lips, startled by the machine’s sound. A hand flew to hers, squeezing it in a reassuring way. “It’s okay, it will help us to move faster, you are safe”. Nodding her head she repositioned in her seat. “It’s gonna start moving now, but don’t be afraid of it, okay?”. Another nod came as a response.
The car started moving, making its way out of the laboratory, and to the beach.
Night’s lights came into view, illuminating the city near the streat. People walking near buildings that Asahi took photos of during the day lights, adorned by Christmast decorations. Curious eyes studied her surroundings, admiring all the lively streets. Coming to a stop at the red light, he let his eyes run around her features. (E/c) eyes locked with brown, an apologetic smile was all he could give her. “I’m sorry I can’t show you around… I bet you are curious to see all those places I took photos of with your own eyes”. Shaking her head she reassured him “It’s okay, you give me enough to remember”. Moving again at the blue light, he looked at her with the corner of his eyes, nervous coming back to him.
“So… Y-you can talk?”. Nodding slowly, she turned her gaze to his face. “I bet you are asking why I never talked before”. Taken back by her blurtness, he shankly nodded his head. “They were already doing enough experiments without talking, just imagine what they would have done if they discovered I could communicate easily with them. They would have started asking questions about me, my race, if there were more out there… It was better faking being like a stupid fish-”. He quickly interupted her with an hurted voice “You are not a stupid fish!”.
Shock filled her eyes, a silent fall in the car. A chuckle escaped her lips, her body shaking from trying to keep the laugh in. Red exploded in his face, embarrassed by the situation “H-hey it’s true! D-don’t… Don’t make fun of me…”. Completely letting herself go to laugh, she caressed his arm reassuringly, “I’m not making fun of you, you are just too cute!”. Turning his head to her, he felt his cheeks burn up from her words “C-C-C-CUTE?! I-I’m n-n-note cute!”. Another round of laughs followed his statement, making his embarrassment fall, joining her laugh.
Her cold hand made its way to the one not holding the steering wheel, squeezing it lightly. “You’ve always been the only one who ever treated me with respect, making me feel at home…”. She brought his hand to her face, cool breath hitted the back of his hand making a shiver go through his back. “Making me feel…”, she moved his hand to her cheek, “... So… Loved…”, nuzzling her now red face into his palm.
Stopping the side at the stop, he looked at her features, illuminated by the orangey street light, making her eyes shine in the dark car. “So beautiful…”, he whispered it so low, that she would have missed it, if it wasn’t for her accentuated senses. Moving his hand on her hair, he pulled her face closer, eyes slowly closing, breaths mixing together, their lips almost touching- BEEEP! Startled by the sound, their head bumped into one another, making them hiss from the contact.
An awkward silence filled the now moving car, both of them not daring to comment what happened.
“S-so…” clearing his voice, he tried to find something to talk about. “If you don’t mind me asking, are there more of your species?”. Humming in though,, she looked back out of the window. “I don’t know… I… My family died when I was little… I have lived alone since then…”. Sadness took over his body, looking at her with teary eyes, he took hold of her hand. “I’m so sorry…”. His expression made the girl’s hearths melt. Squeezing his hand, she gave him a reassuring smile, “It happened ages ago, when the big bomb was dropped... In a second they were gone… I don’t even remember their faces anymore…”. Silent filled once again the car, unable to find words of comfort for the girl.
The silence was broken by her once again “That day I understood how greedy humans were, how primitive for going one against the other, all in name of power and money… I spent my whole life hiding in the deep blue… Waiting for my time to come… But mermaids’s lifetime is basically infinite, we don’t die of old age”. Silently listening to her story, he left out some hums once in a while, to show his interest. “You know, the day Doctor Furukawa found me… I was hoping for them to end my life… I arrived at one point where I couldn’t bear anymore being lonely… But instead they took me with them, locked me in a pool and started doing experiments on me… I was so scared… After each test, my body felt like thousands of knives were dug deep on my skin, but because my body regenerate so quickly, no scar or scratch was ever visible”.
Worried eyes looked at her figure, fidgeting in his seat “Why didn’t you ever tell me that they were hurting you?”. Not able to look into his eyes, she kept looking at the city’s lights now far away in the far distance. “I… After all that happened I… I know now it was stupid of me-but I was afraid that the only human that ever treated me good, would have turned agaist me… And once again I would have been alone”. Tears started falling from her eyes, light sobs filled the car. Parking the car in a rest area, away from the noisy street, he turned his body completely to her.
“I would never hurt you, you know it… Right?”, his voice shaky, unsure of her reaction. Holding both of his hands to her face, she looked at him through her thick lashes. “I do know it now, I was just so afraid of losing the only reason that made me want to keep living”. Slowly, unsure, he approached her face, leaving her enough time to pull away if wanted. “I will never leave you on my own free will… I…”, her hands made its way to the back oh his head, inching closer and closer to him. “Sssh I know”, and the last space was gone, lips connected with one another, cool breath mixing with hot, making their lips the same warm perfect temperature.
Hot hands started roaming around her small frame, caressing every dips, curve and delicious softness, making the girl gasp in his mouth. Liking at her bottom lip, he made its way into her cold cavern, tasting the sea saltiness of her small wet muscle. Eagerly, she pulled at his man bun, freeing his hair from his confines, making them fall around his face. A light pull of his long brown locks, pulled out a light moan from the man’s mouth, making the girl’s legs clench together. Loving the sound, a sensation of confidence washed through the girl, making her push the man back in his seat and making her way in his lap. Eagerly connecting their lips together, she pulled their body flushed together, making their crotch brushing to one another.
Parting for air, he lightly pushed her face away, making their eyes lock to one another. “Y-you don’t have to do it, we can take it slow you know, we can-” she interrupted him with a kiss, pushing herself on his growing bulge. A low groan is swallowed on her mouth, making wetness go in her panties. Rough hands take hold of her sides, pulling her more firmly against his hardness, making it brush perfectly against her clit. “A-Asahi!”, her head going back from the pleasure.
Hot lips start sucking marks on her neck, eliciting more sounds from her. He started trusting up, hands squeezing her sides, probably leaving marks -not that neither of them cared. Small hands sneaked under his top, feeling his bunky abs under her fingerprints. Getting the hint, he moved his arms up, allowing her to take the shirt off, lips separating from her, now marked, skin. Blown wide eyes stared at his well built body, drinking in every inch of skin visible.
Before he could feel even slightly conscious, she started peppering kisses on his exposed skin. “You’ve got the body of a God Asahi”, she whispered on his skin. Feeling his ego boost up, confidence came to him, taking hold of her top. “May I?”, he asked, wanting to be 100% sure of her consent. Caressing his face she smiled at him “You may”. Without needing to be told twice, he quickly got rid of the offending piece of cloth, letting out a pleased groan at the sight in front of him. “Look who’s talking…”, he groaned under his breath, one hand coming up to cup one of her breasts, gently squeezing it.
Arching her back, she continued moving against his crotch, letting small moans escape. His mouth connected with one of her nipples, suking lightly at it, eliciting a more loud moan from her. One of his hands moved to the other nipple, twisting it between his fingers, while the other hand moved on her back, slowly making its way on her ass. Her hands flew into his hair, scratching at his scalp. “A-Asahi, I want more”. Unable to decline her request, he switched to the other nipple, giving it the same treatment as the other. With both of his hands free, he pulled her sweatpants off. Reaching for under the seat, he made space for their body and reclined the back, switching their position, so to make her feel more comfortable.
Leaving a smooch on her lips, he lowered his face down her body, leaving a small kiss around her soft skin. When reached her panties, he traced the wet spot with his pointer finger, feeling her twitch under his touch. “You are so wet already”, moving the cloth aside, he traced the wet lips, stopping at her bud, making a small circle motion. A loud moan echoed inside of the car, eyes opened wide, the girl looked down at him. “W-what was that?”. Chuckling to himself, he blew on it, pulling another moan out of her. “This? Is your clit, is a very sensitive part of women’s body”. Pulling her panties off her legs, he pushed the soft thighs apart.
“I’m gonna make you feel really good now, you can stop me at any time, okay?”. Taking hold of one of his hands, she nodded at him. Eyes rolled on the back of her skull, the moment he lached his lips on ler hardening bud. “A-Asahi!”. His warm muscle moved down, entering her wet hole, fucking her with his tongue. “O-Oh God! Asahi!”, one hand squeezing his big one while the other flew on his hair. A long finger made his way inside of her, making her back arch away from the seat. Moving back to her clit, he started pumping the digit in and out of her, shortly after adding another one. At a particular trust and scissoring, a shout of his name came from her lips. “M-more! Asahiiii”. Suking harshley on her bundle of nerves, a knot started forming on her belly.
A third finger entered her, scissoring around her spongy walls, hitting her sweet spot. “So-aAaaAh- so c-close”, a harsh pull of his hair, caused the man to moan on her clit, the vibration pushing her to the release. Eyes seeing stars, mind going blank and mouth opening wide with a silent scream. Waves of pleasure wash over her body, making her shake in delight. Only taking his mouth off when sure of riding her full orgasm out, he pushed himself up to her face, placing a sweet peck on her sweaty cheek. Caressing her hair, he looked into her eyes. “Should we stop? You seem to be tired”. Narrowing her eyes she switched position, sitting back on his lap.
Nails lightly scratching down his pecks, she opened his trousers. “I want to become one with you”. Pulling his trousers and underwear down enough to freed his member, she started stroking it with her hands. Kissing up his jaw, she nipped at his ear, whispering seducity against it. “You are so big Asahi, I want to feel you inside of me so badly”. His resolution snapped, taking hold of her hips and positioning himself at her entrance. Looking with pleading eyes, he stroked the tip on her wet cavern. Putting her hands on his shoulders, she slowly lowered herself on him, causing a loud moan to escape from both of their mouths. Once filled inside of her, hips locked together, he went for a deep kiss, pouring all his carnal desire for her in it.
“I’m gonna start moving now, tell me to stop if it hurts”. Receiving a nod as confirmation, he slowly pushed her up his leight, only to lower her back down. After the first few experimental pumps, he started moving her more fast, slamming her body back down with more force. Screams of his name filled the car, mixed with grunts and moans and skin slapping against skin. Pleasure fogging both minds, both running after their release. The first to snap is (Y/n), still sensitive from her first orgasm, spasming around his cock, pushing him to his own release, spasming inside of her wall, coating in withe warm cum.
Both stilled on the car seat, hugging their sweaty body, and leaving sleepy kisses on eachother skin. When his breath came back to a normal pace, he started scratching her scalp, leaving sweet kisses on her forehead. “We should find a camping space to spend the night, a hotel will be too dangerous, they might find us”. Nodding, she slowly got off his lap, hissing at the feeling of his soft cock exiting her sensitive cavern. Tirely dressing back, they sit quietly next to each other.
Turning to look in their eyes, a warm smile spread on their faces, eyes filled with adoration and love for the other, feeling so connected like never before. “We should leave now, so that tomorrow night we will arrive at the sea”. With one last sweet kiss, he started the car, going back to the main street, and driving to the nearest camping site. Now out of the city, stars shine in the sky, making the night more magic. Looking at her lover, a sad sansation falls on her body, making it hard to breath. Thinking about tomorrow night, a tear dropped from her eyes, quickly hiding her face from him, not wanting to make him worried.
To think that tomorrow they’ll part ways, made her heart hacker, while her mind remembered her that she knew this would have happened one day, because creatures of the surface can’t be with creatures of the deep blue mass, he would die under water, unable to breath. Turning her face to him, she stayed up all night, hoping to tattoo his features in her brain, not wanting to forget him ever. Only when the sun started to wake up, she found herself unable to keep her eyes open, whispering a small “Thank you”, she let herself hug from the dark world of dreams, imagining a life with someone to swim with again.

Has anyone else seen the Kuromyu'21 PV? I need to express my disappointment... That said, I'm so happy that we have another musical on the way, and I'm sure the cast and company have worked very hard. I will always support the production of the musicals, because they're my second favourite medium of the franchise (after the manga). But...guys... this is a little rough.
As a Furukawa Yuta stan, obviously I was saddened to hear he wouldn't be reprising his role as Sebas. He has recently bloomed in his career and he is fulfilling a very robust life as an actor, so of course it was time for him to step away from it! He also seems much healthier since taking on drama roles instead of stage roles, I think the pressure of being a lead was getting to him. I was really, really optimistic about Tateishi, our new demon on stage, but I'm getting Matsushita Yuya vibes, and his vocals are just...too tenor and pretty pitchy. It feels quite jarring when we're coming from Yuta's belting barritone voice that has prodigious control.
Tateishi is also a lot younger than Furukawa, and I suppose it's important to remember that Weston is a filler arc with only a bit of serious canon development at the very end. So, I'm trying not to take it too seriously.
As for our young Master, Konishi, I was apprehensive about an older guy playing Ciel, but I was equally as excited to see a mature take on his portrayal. As a 23 y.o. Ciel cosplayer and roleplayer, I know it can be done, lmao. That said, from the very small amount I saw of his acting, it felt one-dimensional... I'm trying not to be too critical yet, but again, I can't help but compare him to his predecessors (who were children). Nayuta will forever be my favourite Ciel, with Reo very close behind. The fact that they were able to take up so much space on the stage in spite of their tiny stature and age was constantly amazing to me. They really brought life to Ciel's arrogance and dominance as an Aristocrat of Evil. I hope we see some of that in Konishi.
My last qualm is a small one. The backup dancers for Prince Soma's solo dressed in "Indian" garb felt like it was taken straight from a politically and culturally incorrect Disney movie and I just...cringed. Guys, don't culturally appropriate shit more than Yana has already. It's not a cute look.
But, let me know what you all think from the PV! I'm excited to watch the musical in full, but I have a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Fingers crossed.

Review Proper
Tumblr media
Wow.
I’m sorry, but I now know what I’m rooting for for this year’s awards. Shinshokan really be putting in the works for the sequels, huh? Y’all better remember that there were a lot of scrapped dialogue in Sayonara Game and Change World while they scrapped A WHOLE FUCKING CHARACTER in Secret XXX. However, instead of feeling doubtful of the actual closeness to the manga, I trusted the adaptations of the sequels and was more worried about the casting. I was honestly not into the whole Makonyan bottoming for Okitsu deal for the prequel because not only was Makonyan my seme king 2018 and Okitsu uke queen 2018, Makonyan was using a very high-pitched voice as Yousuke-kun which sounded unnatural. Lo and behold, Shinshokan 2020 really is turning best-selling manga sequels into best-selling BLCDs because not only was the casting for Therapy Game and Love Nest perfect, they gave us the full dialogues AND MORE!
Tumblr media
Bless.
And that, folks, is money well spent.
Man, ever since I’ve heard that Love Nest was going to get an adaptation, I just knew that Kawahara Yoshihisa would be the perfect fit for Asahi. It’s like Minaduki Yuu created Asahi with the thought that he sounds like Kawahara Yoshihisa. Out of all the cast members, it’s only Asahi that didn’t warrant me to adjust to his voice. I mean, who would be better to voice a goddamn daddy than the goddamn daddy??? Yo, that scene when Masato was leaving during the fireworks???
Tumblr media
IT WAS EXACTLY HOW I IMAGINED IT OUT TO BE!!! I was also wondering if he was going to be the one that voices his younger self from his flashbacks because his voice was obviously too mature to do that, but he actually did it! That was probably the first time I’ve ever heard him in such a high pitch and he did well in it! I love how I got to hear him in a high and Saitou Souma in a low in this adaptation.
As for Saitou Souma—now, I did say that I wasn’t that into him voice Masato in Change World, but what the heck? It only took me about a minute to adjust to his Masato in track 1 because mans made it his own! I honestly can’t remember who I wanted to voice Masato or if there even was anyone else back then, but now, Masato is Saitou Souma and Saitou Souma alone! This is probably the lowest pitch I’ve ever heard him in, and I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t scared of him going flat, but guess what??? HE NEVER DID! He stayed in that deeper tone all throughout the BLCD and I even forgot that it was him a lot of the time.
I was also actually a little worried if he’d be able to hold his ground against Kawahara, but as he did with Hirarin, Waccha, and Maeno many BLCDs ago, it was just another day at the studio for him. Also, Kawahara and Saitou Souma almost had the exact same age gap as Asahi and Masato, so imagine how it would feel like for Souma to “oi!” his senior. I’d be shaking in my boots. 😂 Looks like my boy won’t be giving up his seat at the top of the seiyuu rankings easily this year. He never really fails to amaze me. What a legend.
Like what I did in Therapy Game, I also didn’t look up the whole cast list even though I knew that Okitsu and Makonyan was going to come back to reprise their roles. If y’all didn’t know, I am 100% Naru trash. Like, if master’s no one’s gonna take him, I’m taking him. With that being said, I waited until I listened to it to see who was going to voice him AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE YAMANAKA MASAHIRO??? Are you kidding me??? I SHIP HIM WITH KAWAHARA YOSHIHISA, THOUGH??? AND YONEKURA-SAN AND SHIINA-KUN’S IN ONE CD AGAIN?! WAIT, I FORGOT THAT UENOYAMA AND MAFUYU WERE FIGHTING OVER THE SAME GUY HERE!
Tumblr media
This was especially hard because I kind of—I mean, really ship Naru and Masato. Heck, I ship Naru and Masato with everyone. What the heck are almost all of Kitahala Lyee’s VAs doing here? Shinshokan shouldn’t have been shy. They should’ve cast Satou Takuya to do master or Sakuma-senpai so that the whole fucking circus was present! I cannot with this crossover!!!
Everybody else was voiced pretty well, too, and I even put almost all of them in pairs! I love how we have a lesbian couple in a BLCD! Marie just needed her own special mention because I just love her and Masato’s relationship. 😭😭😭 I wish that people would be more open to these types of bonds between the opposite sex. Speaking of voice actors, I was struggling to find who voiced Sakuma-senpai because his name wasn’t even in BLCDwiki’s cast list. He did such a spectacular job as him, too (despite how utterly disgusting his character was). If someone knows him, please tell me who he is because I wanna know and I want him in this industry more ASAP!
I take back what I said in my review for Therapy Game. I love this more because it’s more painful and I love my daddies. Do I recommend this? Damn right I do. Get your hands on this ASAP esp if you’re a fan. There is a considerable amount of added dialogue, but they aren’t as major as the ones in Therapy Game, so reading the manga along is possible. I’m telling you, this is definitely running for best BLCD of the year and it’s also my favorite now (Okitsu’s still in this, what a surprise). From the casting, the execution, the pacing, the added dialogues—everything is top notch! I’m willing to beg on my knees in front of Shinshokan for Play More, Restart, and Love Nest 2! We need it!!! Please make it happen!!! 😭😭😭
And that concludes the BL reviews for now. I’ve listened to everything that I’ve wanted to listen to that was released in the first half of the year, so I’m a happy camper now. God, I sincerely hope that the world becomes okay soon for everyone’s sake. Once I hopefully get another job, it’s gonna be more part two’s, Okitsus, and Zariya Ranmaru. Yaoi gods, please grant Nakajima Yoshiki your divine blessings. 🙇

Ghost of Tsushima | Ryuzo | one shot
Author’s notes can be found on AO3!!
“Tell me about our quarry again.” Tadashi Matsuda says to the ronin riding to his left, slowing his horse to a walk and signaling his men to do the same.
“Getting forgetful in your old age?” Tomotsugu chuckles, reaching out to punch the Straw Hat leader’s arm. Tadashi chuckles and returns the hit, then looks back at the young ronin to his right.
“Ryuzo, would you be so kind as to remind me of our quarry?” He asks. Ryuzo grins.
“A bandit by the name of Tatsuo. Last seen to the north of Sago Mill. Has a bow and sword and is reasonably skilled with both. He leads a band of highwaymen known for butchering merchants when they try to fight back. He sometimes lets them go if they cooperate.” He answers, shifting in his saddle. “Our employers want him alive, but if that’s not possible, they will be happy enough with his head. His band is fair game.
“So who wishes to try him first?” Tadashi asks, twisting in his saddle to smirk at the retinue that follows closely behind him.
“I’d like a shot at him.” Kanetomo crows, a vicious glint in his eyes.
“They want him alive, not cut to ribbons.” Shinzo huffs, rolling his eyes.
“Ryuzo just said the bastard's head was acceptable.” Kanetomo retorts.
“Yeah, if we can’t take him alive.” Ryuzo says, laughing at the other man’s sour expression. “Restraint is not exactly a strength of yours.”
“Oh, what do you know?” Kanetomo snaps. Tadashi laughs.
“All right, that’s enough.” He says lightly. “It might be an all hands sort of job anyway, depending on how many crows circle him.
They continue along the road, chatting and laughing and enjoying the unusually warm day, and Ryuzo tilts his head back and closes his eyes, all but basking in the sunlight. Hiro and Shinzo snicker at him, teasing their friend when he glares at them half-heartedly. He breaks and laughs soon enough, unable to contain himself.
And it’s nice to finally have this. To finally belong to something, to be a part of something and to matter, to finally be more than just an outcast riding the coattails of samurai. It’s nice to have friends he doesn’t feel he needs to compete against or keep up with, and who value him because he is Ryuzo, instead of just a body to swing a bokken at. With that, his mind begins to drift to darker waters, and so he shakes his head hard to clear it. He won’t let thoughts of stupid, selfish samurai ruin such a lovely day.
“Gods, what has he done?” Tadashi says then, breathless with the beginnings of ferocious anger, and Ryuzo follows their leader’s gaze to a man standing at the crossroads ahead of them, covered in blood and surrounded by bodies.
It seems stupid, selfish samurai are determined to ruin the day regardless of what Ryuzo wants. Fucking typical.
“Hail, ronin! Care for a friendly duel?” The samurai calls to them, raising an arm and grinning broadly. The blood smeared across his cheeks and half-mask make the expression grotesque. “It seems I’ve run out of playthings. That boy I let escape must have warned the peasants in Sago that Lord Furukawa of Clan Kikuchi has a new blade he needs to test, and so traffic through this intersection has all but ceased.” He runs his offhand along the spine of the blade, admiring the blood he hasn’t bothered to clean from the edge, then looks up at them with a raised eyebrow. “But a band of ronin would be a much better challenge than filthy peasants anyway, wouldn’t it?”
“Demon.” Tadashi snarls, shifting in his saddle as he prepares to dismount.
“Wait, leader.” Ryuzo says, his own voice surprising him. “I’d like to accept his challenge, if I may.” Tadashi stills and looks at him, then smiles mirthlessly and nods.
“As you wish, Ryuzo.” He replies quietly, and Ryuzo dismounts, passing his reins to Shinzo and stepping forward. The other Straw Hats cast out into a circle around the center of the crossroads, blocking all four paths and creating a ring that is large enough to comfortably duel in.
“Rather cocky, aren’t you, ronin?” The samurai jeers, chuckling at the hissing that erupts from one side of the circle.
“Send him to hell, Ryuzo.” Yasumasa sneers, spitting on the ground in the samurai’s direction.
“How does it feel to look death in the eyes?” The samurai asks with another chuckle.
“The same as it always feels to look a dead man in the eye before he’s slain.” Ryuzo retorts, rolling his shoulders. The samurai laughs outright at that.
“Ronin are always so sure of themselves.” He says, his lip curling over his teeth in a cruel snarl. “We shall see who dies today, boy.”
“We shall.” Ryuzo replies. “But if it’s all the same to you, I’d like to make a deal with you, samurai. A friendly wager.”
“I’m listening.” The samurai smirks.
“I will be the last opponent you face today. If I win, you will die, and that will be that. But if you win, you will sheath your blade and go home satisfied that it can fell a ronin who trained at the end of a shugo blade from the time he was small.” Ryuzo says, reaching to grip the handle of his katana. The samurai’s eyes widen.
“Which shugo?” He demands. Ryuzo chuckles softly.
“Perhaps if you win, one of my companions will tell you.” He replies easily, then sinks his weight into his heels and draws his blade.
“You must not have been too impressive, then.” The samurai says, shaking himself and puffing out his chest. “Or else the shugo would have made you samurai.”
“It was not my skill that kept me from that title.” Ryuzo says darkly, gritting his teeth against the sting of those words. And that’s true. If Kazumasa Sakai hadn’t fucking died, Ryuzo has no doubt he would have been a Sakai retainer by now instead of a mangy ronin. But he’d only been 11 when the elder Sakai had been murdered, too young to formally hire, and the jito had been much less interested than his brother in-law had been in the peasant boy from Kishibe who had tripped over his nephew’s heels all across Toyotama. And Jin Sakai’s motive for leaving Ryuzo out in the cold is another story entirely, and one that still hurts too much to dwell upon.
He huffs and takes his stance, eyeing the samurai with sharp eyes and preparing himself.
“By your leave, my lord.” He growls, and the samurai laughs and sinks into a stance of his own.
“As you wish, ronin. I hope you have lived a good life.”
He slides forward on the balls of his feet then, advancing on Ryuzo and brandishing his soiled blade. Ryuzo stands his ground, watching the other man and waiting to see what he does.
The samurai lunges, swinging his sword at Ryuzo’s shoulder, and Ryuzo side steps him, dodging cleanly, grinning when the samurai turns and snarls at him. He lunges again, and again Ryuzo dodges, and again and again and again.
“Come now, I thought you were samurai!” Ryuzo laughs, ducking under a wild swing and darting in to rap his opponent’s side with the flat of his blade. The samurai yells, frustrated, and tries to engage Ryuzo again. “This is rather sad, really. I wonder how your lord would feel watching you flail about like this. And against a cocky, unimpressive ronin, no less.” Ryuzo teases, spinning away from another strike and slapping him again with the flat of his blade. The other Straw Hats jeer at the edge of the circle, laughing and heckling viciously.
“I hope you meet the peasants you slew in the afterlife.” Tadashi says above them all, chuckling darkly. “I hope they can see what a spectacle you are making of yourself right now, and they never let you forget it.”
“Shut up!” The samurai screams, charging at Ryuzo with his sword raised. Ryuzo sighs and side steps him again, tired of this dance, and pivots on his back foot, finally unleashing an attack of his own. His sword glints in the sun as it slashes through the air and finds a home in the samurai’s shoulder. The samurai cries out and drops his katana, his arm falling uselessly to his side.
“How disappointing.” Ryuzo murmurs, circling the other man as he drops to his knees.
“Please, ronin. Have mercy.” He begs, and Ryuzo feels a bolt of white hot anger flash through him. He tightens his grip on his katana and curls his lip.
“Mercy?” He says lowly. “How dare you beg me for mercy?” He turns and gestures to the bodies lying on the side of the road. “How many of them begged you for mercy?” The samurai looks at the ground and trembles. “The question was not rhetorical. Answer me.”
“All of them.” He whispers.
“All of them.” Ryuzo repeats. “And how many were granted it?”
“None.”
“None.” Ryuzo laughs humorlessly and bares his teeth. “Demon, do you think you deserve mercy?” The samurai says nothing. Ryuzo rests the point of his blade under the man’s chin and forces him to look up. “Answer. Me.”
“I beg your forgiveness. And a chance to prove I can change.” He whispers, his voice shaking and his eyes filling with tears.
“Do. You. Deserve. Mercy.” Ryuzo demands. “Yes or no.”
The samurai stares, his tears spilling over his cheeks.
“No.”
“Then die with dignity, and beg forgiveness from the poor people you killed when you get to whichever hell you belong to.” Ryuzo says, taking his sword in both hands once more and raising it.
“You won’t take me to be judged?” The samurai asks, raising his head and meeting the ronin’s gaze. Ryuzo rolls his eyes.
“I am not samurai. Why should I follow your stupid code?” He snaps, then swings his sword and liberates the samurai of his head.
“Nicely done, Ryuzo.” Tadashi says warmly as Ryuzo bends and picks up the head by its hair. “Shall we deliver your prize to Lord Kikuchi? Hold the bastard responsible for the actions of his retainer?” Ryuzo hums and holds up the samurai’s head.
“What do you think, Lord Furukawa? Shall we pay your shugo a visit?” He asks it, grinning when the other Straw Hats laugh.
They ride to Lord Kikuchi’s estate, laughing and enjoying the sunshine again, and Ryuzo almost forgets about the dripping bundle tied to his saddle. Shinzo and Hiro recount the fight to him as though he hadn’t fought it himself, telling him their favorite parts and praising him for them. Kanetomo grumbles that he should have been the one to behead the wayward samurai, and Kiyochika and Hirotsune laugh and tell him he probably would have been the one beheaded instead.
When they finally near the estate, Tadashi drops back to ride alongside Ryuzo and puts a hand on his shoulder.
“Let me do the talking when we get there. Kikuchi will be pissed that you killed one of his men, and he’ll more likely listen to your superior than to you.” The old ronin says.
“Of course, leader. I understand.” Ryuzo replies, grinning. “Will I still get to throw the bastard’s head at his lord’s feet?”
“Naturally.” Tadashi laughs. “Just don’t speak unless I tell you to.”
“Yes, leader.” Ryuzo says, and Tadashi rides ahead, satisfied.
By the time they reach the gates, most of them have fallen silent, nerves getting the better of the youngest Straw Hats, and the gravity of the situation getting better of the older ronin. The only ones left speaking are the ones who don’t give a shit, like Kanetomo, and the ones who hate samurai with every fiber of their beings, like Yasumasa. Suddenly, the wet slap of the cloth-bound head against the skirt of his saddle is very loud indeed. It makes Ryuzo’s stomach turn.
They ride through the front gates of Lord Kikuchi’s estate, and Tadashi hails the shugo loudly, drawing him and his retinue from the house.
“What is the meaning of this, ronin?” One of Kikuchi’s retainers demands, stepping in front of his lord as they stop before him.
“We have a delivery for you, my lord.” Tadashi says evenly. “And a story, if you’ll hear it.”
“Why should I, ronin?” Lord Kikuchi asks, sounding more curious than anything.
“Because it involves one of your men, and his gross misuse of the power you gave him.” Tadashi answers, his voice low and dark.
“Well? Let’s hear it, then.”
And so Tadashi tells him what they’d found at a crossroads outside of Sago Mill. He tells him about the bodies, about the samurai’s challenge, and about the resulting duel.
“And so, where is my man now?” Kikuchi asks, narrowing his eyes. “Did you take him to the jito for judgement? Or did you leave him to his sport and run here to tell me so that I can take care of it?” His retinue titters at that, murmuring rude sentiments to one another and sneering at the ronin. Tadashi snorts and grins like a shark.
“Ryuzo, show his lordship your prize.” He says, not once looking away from Lord Kikuchi.
“With pleasure, leader.” Ryuzo replies, then reaches to untie the bundle and pulls the head from it by the hair. He holds it up, watching with no small amount of satisfaction as the samurai gasp and recoil, then tosses it to the ground before them. It rolls across the dirt and comes to rest against Lord Kikuchi’s feet. “You’ll find the rest of him right where I put him down like the mad dog he was.”
Lord Kikuchi’s face turns red with rage, and he begins to splutter. “How dare you kill a samurai, you—“
“Enough!” Tadashi shouts over him. “He killed himself. He stood at a crossroads and slew dozens of innocent people for sport. He targeted peasants because he knew they couldn’t fight back. He deserved to die for his crimes. You’re only upset because a ronin dealt the justice that those poor people deserved.”
“The jito will hear of this.” Lord Kikuchi snarls, his voice shaking. “You will answer for this, boy.” Ryuzo sneers at him.
“By all means, tell the jito what I have done, and tell him why.” He snaps, wiping the samurai’s blood from his hand onto the leg of his hakama. “Be sure to tell him that it was Ryuzo of Kishibe who took the bastard’s head.”
Weeks go by and, as expected, the jito does nothing to Ryuzo. The kill was deemed justified, the samurai’s family was disgraced, and Lord Kikuchi was forced to pay restitution to the families of the victims. Then, nearly two months later, Tadashi hands him a letter he’d received from a Clan Shimura retainer who had been instructed to pass the message along to the next Straw Hat he encountered.
It is addressed to Ryuzo, from the jito himself.
He’s not sure if he wants to read it. He’s not sure if he can stomach more of Lord Shimura’s disdain. And so he simply tosses it into the fire instead, unopened and unread. The samurai could all go to hell for all he cares.

Chapter Title: Waxing Gibbous Pairing: Yokai!Akaashi Keiji/Reader Word Count: 3,021
***
“Oi, are you even listening?"
The feeling of someone jostling you by the shoulder was enough to zap you back into consciousness. You blinked in nonplus for a few seconds before remembering that, ah, the coach was talking to the team. The track meet was scheduled in a few weeks. Itsumi was staring at you like you were a specimen from another dimension.
"If Coach Yamamoto catches you sneaking in some Z's while he's talking, I bet he won't let even you off the hook," she reminded, concern lacing her tone. "Seriously, (Name). What've you been doing lately? You've been out of it since Monday. Are you sure you didn't get a concussion?"
The accusation earned her a light smack on the leg as you shifted your sitting position on the grounds. The sun had long sunken into the horizon, and the only available illumination were the lamp posts scattered around the oval. Coach Yamamoto was standing underneath one of them as he gave Fukurodani's track team a much needed pep-talk before the hellish training regimen began.
"Third years, if you're still pursuing track in college, you best give it your all next week," he imposed, voice gruff with flaky encouragement. "Collegiate level competitions don't have room for athletes with subpar records. That reminds me..."
And you felt your eyelids drooping again, each word the coach was saying sounding farther and farther away, until you heard nothing at all.
***
"I didn't expect you to come."
Akaashi stood by the entrance to the cemetery, still wearing his training clothes as he brandished you with a disconcerted look. You frowned. He was the one who told you to meet him here, yet it was like he seemed disappointed that you showed up.
"There's a yokai wandering around the shrine's designated territory, of course I'd be concerned," you huffed, tugging on the hem of your sweater. It was colder out tonight, and you felt somewhat more safe if Akaashi didn't directly look at the charm on your wrist.
The demon stared at you, as if expecting something more. "Hm? If you really were alarmed by my existence, wouldn't you have told your grandmother already? Or any of the monks, at least?"
His retort made you swallow the lump in your throat. Were yokai naturally adept with appraising the ulterior motives of humans? But why would you even think that you could  one-up a demon, of all creatures? You sighed, realizing the futility of keeping up appearances as you cleared your throat uneasily.
"There's a couple of benches near the cliffside," you told him, gaze shying away from his blue-eyed stare. "I'd like to...know more about you."
Akaashi breathed out a soft laugh, amusement painting itself on his face. "A human whose first instinct isn't to kill a yokai? Or at least run from it? You really are something else."
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"
As the two of you made your way past the run-down cemetery, you watched the way moonlight drew forth the sharp angles of Akaashi's face. You wondered if he'd only stolen the identity of another human, or if he really did look like that in his true form. Nonetheless, he had flawless taste for his disguises, that's for sure. Right now, you didn't feel the warning pulse of the charm on your wrist. He must have toned down his presence to pass as human.
"It depends on who's asking, really," he said as the two of you settled on the crumbling stone benches nestled between two faded gravestones. You muttered a quiet apology for the intrusion, hoping whoever was buried underneath wouldn't mind a yokai trespassing on their final resting place.
"So," you began, eyes trained on the overcast sky above. No stars were out tonight, nor did Tsukuyomi take a peek at the land below. "What's your deal? Why aren't you going on a killing spree like yokai usually do when they're smart enough not to get caught by the monks."
He groaned, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "Do me a favor and don't compare me to fledgelings like those. If we live long enough, carnage eventually bores even the worst of us."
You nodded in understanding, taking each word to heart. There was something soothing about his voice—like it could lull you to sleep if you weren't careful.
This is how idiots get killed in horror movies, you reminded yourself. Villains were supposed to make you let your guard down so they could take you out when you're most vulnerable.
But for some reason, the word villain didn't quite suit Akaashi. Not because he wore the face of a meek-looking human. No, it was more of a gut feeling. Your grandmother did tell you to trust your gut when all was lost.
"Where do you live?" you asked him. "Here? On top of the hill?"
He shook his head, resting his palms on his knees. "I'm staying with a human family who thinks they have a son." When you shot him a pensive stare, he gave you a tight-lipped smile as he backtracked with, "No harm will come to them, I promise."
You knew that you shouldn't take his word for it, but still, your shoulders relaxed with the assurance. "What are you doing here, then?"
"I told you," he said, stretching out his long limbs as he stared upward. "The moon shines brightest here."
His words didn't hold the same impact as they would have if the sky was clear tonight. You gazed up to the heavens, where clouds still obscured the wonderful view behind it. If you asked what's so special about the place where the moon shines brightest, you already knew he was only going to give you the vaguest of answers.
"You're still avoiding the million dollar question, though," you sighed, shifting in your seat as you gazed at the city of Tokyo from your generous vantage point.
"You did ask me a lot of those," Akaashi pointed out. "Which one do I answer first? Who am I? Why don't I have a heart? Or what's my deal? Pick wisely. I think I'm in the mood to answer only one."
Huh. It seemed that some yokai have a sense of humor after all. A soft laugh rumbled in your chest as you mindlessly kicked away a pebble on the ground, having made up your mind before he even asked.
"...Why don't you have a heart?"
The silence that settled between the both of you rang in your ears. Akaashi's eyes flashed with an emotion you couldn't quite identify as he heaved a long breath. It took him a moment to respond. You were about to tell him that he didn't have to answer but he beat you to it when he told you:
"Simple. A human stole it from me."
***
"Is there something you're not telling me, (Name)?"
You knew that the only reason why Itsumi was being this inquisitive was simply because she was looking after you. She hadn't been wrong when she'd pointed out earlier that you were drifting in and out of focus since the beginning of the week. It was Wednesday now, and your condition hadn't improved. Probably because of the lack of sleep you were getting.
But Itsumi didn't have to know about that.
"It's just gotten a bit busy at the shrine lately, Sumi," you explained, which technically wasn't a lie. With the festival pushing through tomorrow evening, you took it upon yourself to help out as much as you could. Your grandmother even put you in charge of coordinating with the food stalls and game booths that were going to do business at the foot of the hill.
Itsumi hummed in contemplation, affixing you with a dubious stare before slinging her bag over her shoulder. "If you say so..."
"Oi, (Surname)!"
He couldn't have picked a worse time to drop by than now. With a sigh, you turned around to face Bokuto, who seemed fresh out of training just like you and Itsumi. But even if he's been worn down by rigorous volleyball practice, he still had it in him to grin at you like his wellspring of energy was yet to run out. Behind him, trailed his eternal plus one, Akaashi, who had a mask of neutrality secured on his face.
He was also the main reason why you couldn't sleep at night.
In your last meeting, his answer to one of your many questions only gave rise to a dozen more (Who did it? How long has it been? How are you still alive?), all of which the yokai was unwilling to answer.
You couldn't exactly corner him at school either. It would be too obvious if you suddenly just approached the second year, whom you've never interacted with outside your strange circumstances, out of nowhere. So that resulted in the previous nights spent tossing and turning in your futon, your mind grasping at answers it couldn't reach.
"Bokuto-san, hello," you greeted with as much cheer as you could manage. "What's up?"
"Your shrine's holding the lunar festival next week, right?" he asked, eyes as expectant as a child's on Christmas.
"Um, yes. Why are you asking?"
If it was even possible, his grin only scaled wider. "I think I attended the festival as a kid back then. I kind of want to remember what it's like, is all! You mind showing me around?"
You could practically hear Itsumi internally squealing right next to you when your best friend turned around to bury her face in her hands. Though, you weren't in any better condition.
"Bokuto-san," you began, feeling your face burn with embarrassment. "Are you asking me to go with you to the lunar festival?"
"Eh? Was I not clear enough?" The ace cocked his head slightly, puzzled.
"She'll go," Itsumi answered before you could even process his words. "Wear a red kimono—it's good luck!"
"What? Really?" Bokuto gaped, nodding profusely at Itsumi's words. "Furukawa, thanks for the tip! I'll—I'll go shopping right away. Akaashi, let's go!"
"Bokuto-san, do you really have to drag me everywhere you go," drawled the setter, shooting him a distasteful look. You found it quite amusing, really. How a yokai like Akaashi was being strung around so easily by Bokuto. It was like the ace had a higher power over—
Wait a minute.
"See you tomorrow, (Surname)!" the wing spiker announced, waving a hand goodbye towards you and Itsumi. Your best friend returned his greeting with a nod, but you were too stunned with your new-found realization to do the same.
"Sumi, I'll go on ahead," you mumbled half-heartedly as your feet began moving more out of instinct than anything else.
Your best friend called out from behind you, but you couldn't spare Itsumi any explanations; not with the burning need to confront Akaashi before Bokuto completely snags him away was gnawing at you. The duo were walking at a leisurely pace ahead, just a few meters from the gym's entrance. Akaashi retained his neutral facade as Bokuto chattered about something you couldn't quite catch because—
"Akaashi," you spoke, seizing the setter's wrist. He blinked in surprise, turning to you with a question in his eyes. "Can we talk for a minute? It's important."
Bokuto was alternating his gaze in between you and the team's setter, brows furrowed at having been left out with whatever you were discussing. "Akaashi, what's (Surname) talking about?"
A conflicted look flashed across Akaashi's face for a sliver of a moment, so brief you would've missed it if you weren't staring at him dead in the eye. He was studying you intently, possibly surmising all the ways he could murder you and get away with it in his head. Wait, no. Akaashi wasn't like that.
Yet...
"Bokuto-san, you'll have to head on without me," he conceded with a sigh. "I'll accompany you for kimono shopping some other time."
The ace visibly depleted at Akaashi's decision, lip swelled into a pout. You could feel a pang of guilt rippling in your chest at the sight, but this was for his own good. You were doing this to protect him.
Once Bokuto was out of earshot (after five minutes of convincing him that he didn't have to worry about anything) and you've moved someplace more private, you brandished Akaashi with a hard glare. "It's him, isn't it?"
His brows were knit with confusion. "I'm afraid I don't follow."
"Don't play games with me, yokai," you hissed, the word tasted like venom on your tongue. "I've got you all figured out."
Despite your display of aggression, Akaashi didn't even seem the least bit threatened. He merely stood in front of you with folded arms, the lacking illumination making his already indecipherable expressions harder to read. But you heard the low rumble of a laugh emitting from him before he breathed out a long exhale.
"I've been alive for centuries, but not one human has ever had the guts to tell me they've 'got me all figured out'," he said, an amused smile grazing his face. You could feel rage bubbling in your chest as your fists shook with irritation. Was he even taking you seriously?!
"You did all this to—to get close to him. You went out of your way, even stooping down to our level, because Bokuto-san has your heart, doesn't he?" You made a beeline for the point of the matter, your gut insisting that you won't get anywhere if you wasted more time. "I don't know how that could have happened but..."
Your voice trailed off, giving him a silent leeway to explain himself. Why were you even giving him a chance at redemption? The truth was baring its fangs at you right there!
But still...
You couldn't picture the boy that sat down with you by the cliffside just killing Bokuto out of cold blood to get his heart back. The fact that he hadn't permanently silenced you for simply knowing his identity was a testament to his intentions, as well. The yokai you've heard about in stories and legends weren't as lenient like Akaashi was being with you and, frankly, his charitable behavior was scaring you more than it would if he acted in-character.
Akaashi spared you a lopsided smile, staring upward at the moon overhead. The gibbous was yet to reach completion, and for a moment, you wondered if the full moon would land on the day of the lunar festival itself.
"You have the right idea, at least," the setter relented. "My heart is breathing life into a human being right now and they don't have the slightest idea about it."
"So—"
"But it isn't Bokuto-san."
That was all it took for the ire in your veins to die down. You stared at Akaashi unblinkingly, letting his words sink in. It wasn't Bokuto. It wasn't him, yet you went ahead and accused him so boldly. Horror painted itself on your face before you bowed your head in sheer embarrassment—apologies spilling from your lips right after the other.
"But...why are you by his side all the time if he doesn't have what you wanted?" you wondered.
"I'm glad you asked," Akaashi chuckled. "I think you've observed how energetic Bokuto-san is on the regular, yes? That aura translates into the realm of spirits as well. Imagine his aura as a force field of sorts—if I cloak myself in his energy, my presence will be even more muted than it already is. Take it as an extra precaution, if you may."
You titled your head to the side. "But why would you need protection when—"
"Is someone back there?"
The sound of the night-shift guard's voice had you on high-alert in a split second, and you ducked behind one of the nearby trees, pulling Akaashi with you. The trunk wasn't a very good hiding place, since you had to press Akaashi closer to your frame so neither of you would get caught. You silenced your breathing as much as you could, straining your ears for the sound of the guard's footsteps. When you were sure he'd left to patrol the other areas in school, you heaved a sigh of relief.
That's when you noticed how close Akaashi's face was to yours.
"Why were you acting like a serial killer was out to get us," he asked, mouth twisting into a sneer. His pearly white teeth glinted in the moonlight, and you felt yourself becoming ensnared with his navy-eyed gaze for a moment.
"U-Uh, no. Sorry. It's just that the guards are really strict with PDA, and we were kind of in a compromising position—two teenagers doing god-knows-what in the dark, and all," you explained, springing away from Akaashi as you hoped that he didn't notice the stutter in your words.
Your reasons had some weight in them, too. You've learned your lesson from the time you brought Kazuto here to talk to him about his previously rocky relationship with the rest of the team. The night shift guards never let you hear the end of that.
"I see," the setter replied. "Well, is there anything else you would like to accuse me of before I go?"
"I would like to accuse you of being a smartass," you bit back.
Akaashi smiled as he began walking away. "So I've been told."
As you watched him go further and further away, the question that rested at the back of your throat itched to be articulated. Gulping, you ran towards him without another thought, hyper-aware of how loud your shoes were hitting the pavement. Akaashi turned around to face you with curiosity brimming his eyes, and you stopped right in front of him.
"When you find the person who has your heart," you began, your own heart thundering in your rib cage. "What are you going to do?"
The look he gave you was somber for a fleeting moment before Akaashi assumed his mask of neutrality once more. He avoided your gaze, looking up at the sky instead.
"Take it back, of course."
