I'm a little shy! But I would like to express my amazement and admiration! A while ago I found your Shadow Chase art, I loved it and became a fan, you create very funny stories and your art is beautiful, but that's not the point, I started following you because of that, but then I realized that you have many others projects and You are also very busy with your personal life. My question is how is everything organized and planned to advance a project despite academic/work responsibilities? I've seen that you even have collaborations with others and I keep thinking "this person is great." As a final note, I just want to leave my good wishes and hope you have a nice week. <3
Gosh, so many compliments in one ask, I‘m still a little loss for words. Thank you so much for reading my work and looking into my other projects, collabs and art! I hope you‘ve been enjoying them. ❤️
I think there is no denying that I need to organize myself a little bit to make everything work. I think I‘ve always used drawing, especially drawing comics, as a way to breathe and when I started uni I promised myself I would continue drawing somehow. The first semester was hell, but I finished all the way. And I had the same mindset for working, so when I started this year I was very motivated to draw. Lol I think it also helped that I had several different projects to work on so when I wasn’t in the mood for black and white I would move to something colorful. Comics also offer the possibility to work on different parts. Do I want to work on the story, on the storyboards, on the actual drawings or just editing…? A lot of options. And this is something which I heard on a video on AI but artist and creative people in general don‘t create in other to have more content but to get something out of their head and feel the satisfaction of creating a certain idea and I felt that very much. And then there is the joy of collabs and while there were unfortunately more failed attempts at collabs I’m very glad for those which eventually resulted in great projects. ❤️ I might have to take actual breaks from drawing when I get back to my thesis. I finished all the work but need to write the discussion part and wow, how much I don‘t wanna work on that.
Currently I use my time on commutes for drawings digitally or making storyboards. In the evening I finish private stuff and when time is left I work on traditional art. Shadow Chase is the only project where I try to have an overview on how many pages I have done and want to finish before the next upload. Other works can usually go up once finished. When I create something for fan projects like zines, bigbangs, etc. I usually just try to finish said project right away. I don‘t like procrastinating (except my thesis I guess) and rather have stuff than can be finished done right away and focus on my other projects again. Shades of Tourmaline was definitely my biggest collab project yet and with the amount of art planned it took like 3 years to finish because that was something I couldn‘t get done right away. 😂 fortunately clef was very patient with me (and kept me distracted with new collabs, oops).
The short answer would be I try to draw as much as possible because it is just a lot of fun with the additional bonus of entertaining a few people. ❤️
#I hope I don‘t sound smart or anything#But drawing is honestly just a lot of fun#And working on ideas in general#Getting them out#That‘s the life#And sometimes I just get to talk to really cool people because of that too 😎#Thank you again for looking into my work 💕

ngl, you are GOOD at traditional art!!! HOW??! but anyways uhhh THIS ASK HAS BEEN SPONSORED BY funkycrabturtle1035's TUMBLR PAGE!!!!!! plenty of art to discover and much much MORE (if you go to my strawpage and check out my old acc too) when you start following me, all you'll get is this: yeah that's it. MINI ME + my shared gratitude
but anyways have a nice day/night!! i've been crawling around on my floor and dragging myself by using my arms since my legs are lazy-ass and they cannot function properly
Lmao thank you, your drawing is super cute 😭 I hope your limbs function properly at some point trust 🤞 and to answer the thing about traditional art, it's because I've been drawing on paper for years[like, as a kid up till now], and never even tried digital art on a fr scale until recently [i thought you could only do it on a tablet or computer, and i have neither of those]☠️
Like I'm so bad it's not even funny ☠️ I tried ibispaint and I hated it, and my angry rant wasn't even warranted because I was messing around with the place I lost all my progress and I FOUND THE SAVE FILES??? WHY DIDNT ANYONE TELL ME I NEVER ACTUALLY LOST IT ALL 😭
Ain't no way I'm gen z and that bad with digital art 💀 and tbh I don't actually know how tumbler completely works either... [I'm 17 I'm supposed to be a pro with the internet 🪦][+this blog isn't my prime account ☠️]
Anyways thanks for the question! I keep scrolling up to look at your drawing it's actually so cute 😖
Goodnight! (It's 1 am but I ain't going to sleep yet 👍)

I hope you don't mind, but do you have advices for other artists? I try to draw too, but my drawings never come out looking like the reference, like I'm unable to draw something alike Derek or Stiles, that's frustrating hahahaha
The colouring, the anatomy 😩 you are so fucking amazing!
Thanks for sharing your art pieces with us ❤️
First of all, I'm honored that you ask ME this question, because I'm not very confident (working on it 💫) and it's like a huge compliment that you would even ask.
Llike every other artist, you and me are both gonna be the biggest critics of our own drawings!! I just want you to know that before I say anything else! If you ever feel like you're not getting any better or not fast enough, take a step back and take a look at the bigger picture, go back, look at where you started, it's only a question of time, you're constantly evolving!! <3 Be patient with yourself ~
I'm sure you were thinking of actual advice not the mental part, so I thought of some, but for real, most of what formed my art style (that is constantly changing and is gonna continue to change until I die 👁️👁️) was TIME. I don't always love to draw but when I have these periods of drawing a lot it's always because I'm hyperfixating on something, so finding something you can fall in love with and obsess over is gonna make time absolutely FLY BY.
Don't get discouraged when you're not nailing a character the first time you draw them. I personally only get it somewhat right at like the fifth try (funny enough I'm an impatient person but when I love something I seem to be able to be patient 💀💫) if anything Do it out of spite!!!!!!
Practice is a funny word, I don't like it because it seems like you have to know what you're trying to achieve if that makes sense. Maybe that can hold you back too. Drawing something and failing still counts as practicing. Finishing the best painting of your lifetime counts as practicing. Every time you draw you get better.
Ooooooh an interesting one that I only figured out this year: SPEND (if you can) MORE TIME OUTSIDE AND AROUND PEOPLE because your eyes notice lightings, movements, expressions, COLOURS that you then unconsciously (subconsciously?) keep in your head for later!! And when you are drawing you're gonna UNCONSCIOUSLY use that information??? It's wild (says the person who spent years barely leaving their bedroom) I'm not even exaggerating, my art got out of the blue so much 'better' (different) when I started leaving the house more often. (You might not have this issue tho!! 💫)
Also I started drawing when I was watching a lot of animated movies/shows and it influenced my art so much. When I got hooked on shows with live actors everything changed (again, your brain is putting away so many details for later) I started seeing anatomy more realistically.
One last tip before I stop rambling (and make another coffee 💫) Find a pen that WORKS FOR YOU. My stuff would look so much different if I was using different brushes than I use now. Try as much as you want! Do you prefer traditional or digital drawing? Both have cheaper alternatives (I understand this hobby is not a cheap one in general) I have a bunch of tips for Clip Studio Paint for example! Idk, let me know, I would love to show you my favourite settings that actually make my life easier!! ❤️
Sorry if I'm all over the place, I'm not too good with words 👁️👁️ I hope it's not gonna be like 'I really read all that for nothing' for you sgsggshshsgsh in which case I'M SO SORRY SFSGGGSGSGSG and again, thanks for your question!! I wish you luck!! Keep drawing!! You're gonna surprise yourself how far you can go I'm so serious!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Seana’s 2020 art highlights (a thread)
(Note: this is a reupload of a thread i did on twitter a few years back. so these are really old.)
January: i didn’t draw anything complete that month.... closest thing i could find to finished is this art i made of my OC, Angelord. man. remember when i drew my OCs? [2023 note: it's..... funny you say that. you would try to start up an original comic for the entirety of next year.... not that it ever came to fruition.]
February: i finished Link’s Awakening that month. i drew Marin bc i thought she was cute. i wish i could get motivated to draw fanart of recent video games i finished more... this is probably the last proper traditional art i made this year... after this, it’s mostly digital.
March: look. i’m attempting anatomy... and i failed lol. i remember being like “how do you draw woman” after drawing this... i mean. i still wanna know how to draw woman, so i guess i haven’t changed lol. [2023 note: I STILL DONT KNOW HOW TO DRAW WOMEN]
April: wait NVM here’s another traditional piece i made this year. he was an adoptable i made... but nobody was interested in them so he’s with me for now. i’ll try and redesign them, either to sell them or to keep him. [2023 note: i never sold this guy.... i was lazy and nobody values points these days. probs for the best because scamming children with virtual coins is probably not a good idea lmao. at the same time, i wish there was an easy way to buy and sell designs+commissions without having to get a credit card or paypal or something.]
May: another month where i didn’t draw anything. buuut i did some plush sketches to reference so das dat. [2023 note: you'll probably be able to name most charas here, but who's the guy i drew the most? that's Matteo, he's a little pink vampire and i made him through Gatcha Life.]
June: ah. the month where i started digital art. this was fanart for my friend’s OC. i didn’t know a lot of features of digital art so it looks like shit LOL not the first digital art i made ever, but it might as well be. [2023 note: i actually received my tablet around 2018, but i never had time to draw on it because i had 1 hour of screentime every day. this restriction was finally lifted in 2020 (because online classes) and i finally had time to venture out into the world of digital art...]
July: i made a lot of stuff this month, but to shorten the list... i finished the plush of my OC, Matteo. i wanna make another plushie... maybe with Suitcase.
this was also the month i joined the OSC... oh hell. it’s been 6 months?? [2023 note: 2 YEARS BITCH. ITS GONNA BE YOUR 3RD ANNIVERSARY if i didn't get so tired and started to hate the community so much.]
August: ...ergh. lets get over with this month quickly... Object OCs this. Object OCs that.
occasional Algebians.
i do not like the art here... it really shows that i’ve improved. ok let’s get outta here. [2023 note: i fucking despise the person who asked me why "they were old" to my humanizations of the Dangos. this is why i refuse to join another public server ever again and might have contributed to the delay of my human drawing skills.]
September: lots of Taco II. i seriously liked her a lot. still do, but the love is a bit more spread out between characters.
oh. and i watched ONE that month. cool.
October: i finally found a style that i could weld. hooyah.
don’t ask why i drew my friend as a cat maid... i thought it was funny ok.
September: the month of gift art. nothing else to say, but i like the thin lines. yes, ‘thin’. ...god i need to think of better things to say. [i would then realize i said the wrong month, and unlike tumblr, i cannot edit tweets once published, so my only option was to delete the whole thing and start over. or just say this:] did i just say September... oh for fucks- no i am not fixing this i’m already tired of this just imagine i said November ok
December: best art of this year so far (doh) nothing to say. just... happy that i improved. can’t wait to improve even more.
[hey look! i was in the 2020 JnJ christmas video! thats me! me!!]
aaand, that’s all for this year! man, i thought i was done with improvement. i can’t believe i proved myself wrong. usually other people do that for me lol. lets see if i can disprove myself again in 2021.

I don't usually post my artistic ventures on here, but here's my 2022 artist summary!
January: Armoire! One of my favorites lads I've made, with all the bug details and many, many feet.
February: A commission. Money is nice, but the commissioner was very picky lol
March-May: Though started it in February, my Doc Ock cosplay totally devoured all of my time. I was very proud once it was finished, even though it ended up breaking at the con.
June: A piece to bounce back from my dry spel! hadn't done a decent digital painting in ages, and was pretty pleased with it, despite not liking how Stede's face came Out.
August: Just some sketchbook doodles of characters from my funny vampire show, the top of which is later seen during inktober.
October: Did my best to keep up with Inktober, did alright. tossed boobie plant lady in to mix up all the lads in this summary lol.
November: another physical item. Tooka lot of time, only because had to sow on 32 separate squares, but sold for 75$!
December: At long last, a full sketchbook piece. I tend to avoid traditional pieces for fear of messing up, but stuck with it and ended up with a piece was very pleased with!
In the following year I'm gonna try to do more art, or atleast do it consistently lol
Here's to hoping for a good 2023!

just popping in to say that i absolutely adore your art! you’ve become one of my biggest inspirations and so inspired me to finally make the translation to digital art. do you have any tips for a beginner? thanks so much and I hope you have a great day!!
oh my gosh!! thank you so much!! you really don’t know how much it means to hear that so thank you, you just made my day!!
i’ve been collecting resources for someone i know who used to only do traditional art years ago, and is recently making the switch to digital, so i’ll link my all time favorite spreadsheet which covers a lot art-wise!! and then i’ll give some of my own advice at the bottom :)
( it’s sorted by the type medium whether it be illustration / animation / storyboarding. they also have a whole section for foundational drawing and links out to websites for poses. it’s also updated every so often! :) it also lists resources and information about programs !! prices are included too! )
—————
now, i’m not too sure how to give advice about art, but i definitely want to try and offer some help! :)
i have been drawing digitally for maybe ~8 years. the switch was really hard, but don’t let it discourage you!! i went on youtube and watched a bunch of speed paints and timelapses of my favorite artists at the time to try and understand how they did certain things. and to be honest, my art was not great! and i’m still improving; things i look at from even 3 months ago i will put my head in my hands at.
anyone would probably tell you to just practice when you say “i want to learn how to draw digitally” but they don’t often tell you what to practice either. i don’t really like that advice (even though it’s mostly true— it just doesn’t feel very beginner-friendly!!). so here are a few things that i wish i was told instead of “just practice to get good”
1. i really recommend finding an artist you like and looking at how they do certain things. try to figure out what you like about it; is it the texture, the colors, the lines, the compositions, etc. maybe think about incorporating the way someone uses bright colors (for example) in your own art (if you like the way the artist uses bright colors).
2. reference photos!! they are key. especially having multiple references, maybe one for lighting, a pose, background, etc. the more the better! — i recommend maybe maybe a folder on your device for references ^^
3. keep your old drawings! — some people tend to get discouraged (me) when they think they’re not improving. best thing i ever did was keep my sketchbooks and try to keep as much of my earliest digital art as possible.
one of my first digital drawings ever VS my redraw from last year…. which i want to redraw again now!!
4. this one is going to sound a little funny, but draw your favorite character! - having a character to constantly draw helped me a ton. especially an original character;
5. if you are feeling uninspired, find a screenshot of some media you enjoy and try to redraw it or do a study of it :). i did this often when i didn’t know what to draw but wanted to draw!
6. experimenting with brushes!! — if you are also stuck, maybe try to download or even create some new brushes. …. i have too many brushes
—————
i really wish i could offer all the advice to help you succeed!! i’d love to see your progress as well!! the main thing i can say is that not everything you create will be a masterpiece, but not every work of art is a mistake either. don’t regret spending time drawing if you love it, even if you aren’t in love with what you create. if you can recognize that something may be off, whether it be proportion-wise, color-wise, ANYTHING, you’re still seeing a way for improving your work. which means you are still improving!
i wish you the best anon!! if you ever have any more questions i can try to help, and i am rooting for you!!!!
you can do it!!!!! :) (ft. drawing i did in elementary school)
#zack speaks a lot tag#zack replies tag#long post#question mark (?)#i spent so long typing this the images got bugged i hope they work#seriously!! good luck! i hope you get to make the art u want to!!

The problem isn’t the AI in and of itself. The problem is laziness and the promise of instant gratification. Now granted, I learned traditional art - my favorites were always oil on canvas, pastels on pastel paper, and ceramic sculpture (esp. glazed and raku fired), but we don’t all have the finances to keep up on that.
So I’ve done SOME digital art, even though I tend to hate it. After learning so many techniques with traditional, every digital art program I’ve tried feels both limiting and over-complicated to me and it’s frustrating.
Yet I’ve seen speed paint videos when the artist realizes their proportions were wrong or a pose was off and they lasso the area, adjust the size or rotation, move it around, and drop it in place. CHEAT! Does anyone really think I could have had that option in oil painting?
And AI can be used as a cheat, too. That’s where the problem lies, yet not all cheats are created equal. That resize/rotation in Photoshop or Procreate or whatever? The artist still knows how to draw, still took the time to learn and practice. It was merely a digital technique, and the art program was used as a tool, much like a brush. The human artist still did work, it was just work of a different sort.
I follow an artist that uses AI here on Tumblr. He’s talked about how he creates his art before. He does all the drawing and 3d rendering to create the art he feeds into the AI. He adjusts what the AI renders until he has an image he wants. The AI is a tool to him, as it should be. He isn’t stealing art, he’s creating it, and that is a massive distinction.
Unfortunately, there are all too many con artists pretending that spitting some nonsense text into an AI program and getting funny results is anything more than a meme. And maybe they didn’t feed it stolen art - it may have come preloaded, or like online versions, it may be continually stealing in the background, but the AI still isn’t stopping to check with artists and lawyers to make sure all the art was public domain or used with permission, nor is it giving any credit.
If used correctly, AI art programs can be a wonderful tool for artists, but as with all things, there’s still the capacity for using it badly and actually cheating. Perhaps the program is slightly at fault for existing, perhaps the programmers are at fault for allowing it to be used like that, but the greatest fault lies with the users trying to pass off images they put no effort into creating as their own art.
Spend the 20 years learning, develop your own style, and use tools as tools, not as a replacement for skill. The results will be amazing if you do, as opposed to the meme-worthy unsettling weirdness that is most AI ‘art’. Do it right or just don’t bother.
LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK

"Funny Wedding Signs: 'Beer Me, I’m Getting Married!'"
"Beer Me I'm Getting Married" is the rallying cry for a new wave of wedding celebrations that put craft brews front and center. Gone are the days when champagne was the only bubbly option for toasts. Now, couples are tapping into the world of artisanal ales to add a hoppy twist to their nuptials.
Buy now:19.95$
Imagine a rustic barn wedding where instead of a champagne tower, there's a magnificent beer can pyramid. Or picture a "Beers Around the World" themed reception, with each table featuring a different country's brew. Groomsmen gifts? How about personalized beer steins or a six-pack of local IPAs with custom labels?
The trend extends beyond just drinking beer. Creative couples are incorporating beer into every aspect of their big day. Beer-infused wedding cakes, hop boutonnieres, and even beer unity ceremonies (where the couple blends two different beers to symbolize their union) are becoming increasingly popular.
For the eco-conscious couple, breweries make for unique and sustainable wedding venues. Many offer tours as part of the package, giving guests a behind-the-scenes look at the brewing process between the "I dos" and the dancing.

But it's not just about the party. "Beer Me I'm Getting Married" captures a laid-back, playful approach to wedding planning. It's for couples who want to celebrate their love without taking themselves too seriously. After all, nothing says "happily ever after" quite like clinking bottles of your favorite craft beer with your newly minted spouse.
So, if you hear someone shout "Beer me, I'm getting married!" don't be surprised. It's just the sound of love brewing.
Craft the perfect present for the ale artisan in your life with these thoughtful gifts for beer brewers. For the novice, consider a comprehensive homebrewing starter kit, complete with fermenting bucket, airlock, and essential ingredients. More experienced brewers might appreciate specialized equipment like a digital refractometer for precise measurements or a stainless steel wort chiller to streamline their process.
For the tech-savvy brewer, a wireless hydrometer that tracks fermentation in real-time via smartphone could be a game-changer. Personalized wooden tap handles or custom bottle labels add a touch of individuality to their creations.

Books on advanced brewing techniques or rare beer styles can inspire new experiments. Alternatively, a subscription to a hops-of-the-month club keeps their ingredient stock fresh and exciting.
Don't forget the fun factor – a "Brew Master" apron or a set of beer-themed coasters made from recycled grains could bring a smile to any brewer's face. These gifts are sure to have them raising a glass in appreciation.
Beer Lover Day is an unofficial holiday that celebrates the world's most popular alcoholic beverage and those who cherish it. Typically observed on September 7th, it's a day when beer enthusiasts around the globe unite to honor their favorite brew.
On this day, beer lovers might explore new craft breweries, attend beer festivals, or organize tasting events with friends. Many bars and pubs offer special promotions, showcasing unique or limited-edition beers.

It's also an opportunity to learn about beer's rich history, diverse styles, and the art of brewing. Some enthusiasts use the day to try their hand at homebrewing or to perfect their beer and food pairing skills.
Beer Lover Day isn't just about consumption—it's a celebration of craftsmanship, tradition, and the social connections fostered over a shared pint. It's a day to raise a glass to the simple pleasure of a good beer.

wow it does sound like they changed quite a lot of stuff then, but i’m guessing they’ll still keep major plot points 🤔?? still, i think i’d rather watch it later just in case :’) ~
also yes about the serious // funny moments, when i started watching it was like funny guy lots of problems ~ and then in the third episode suddenly it was all murder and blood and i was like 💀💀?!?! i was surprised to say the least lol
oh when it comes to art i do traditional art and if i feel like i want to take the drawing further i paint over it digitally and render it to a semi realistic style (? , i do 3D mostly for university and sometimes job but yeah i don’t do 3D for hobby, it’s kind of a lot :’)
Yeah based on what they've hinted so far, major plot points seem the same at least so that's good.
And I know, it really caught me off guard too with the sudden bloodiness/deaths 💀 not that there wasn't death and violence in the original anime, of course, but it wasn't quite the same????? Like it was there, but they showed it in an indirect way to make you feel uneasy/ominous instead (e.g. seeing piles of bodies partially rendered, the aftermath of an explosion rather than the explosion itself). Idk how to describe it lol
And ah OK, cool that you can get to use it for work and university! Yes it is a lot lol and all the more power to people that do that kind of thing on a regular basis, but I guess like anything, it's a skill that can be developed

hi raven !! do u have any moots who are people u looked up to before u became moots with them? just curious :-)
Hmmmm... 🤔 A good question!
When I first started out writing, my two inspirations were twstpasta (Mac) and panacea-wishes (Lily). Mac had a very clean and simple interface and a whimsical way of writing, whereas Lily edited together her own banners and focused more on pretty descriptions... I wanted my writing blog to have its own unique flavor like Mac's and Lily's did!
You'll notice that I wrote the last paragraph in past tense, and that's because both of those writers have since terminated their respective blogs and moved elsewhere💦 but to this day, I still really love them and the work that they do! If you’re interested in continuing to follow them too, you can find Mac at @mcdonaldsnumberone and Lily at @fairlyabookie. However, please note that they no longer take writing requests; they only write what and when they wish to.
Another predominantly text-based blog I enjoyed (and still enjoy!) reading is @pianostarinwonderland. It's mainly a dumping ground for TWST thoughts and theories, which I do also sometimes share on my own blog. It's a place I go to when I need to get my brain juices flowing, and sometimes the things they point out make me develop more of an appreciation for the details of TWST! (I also used to be an Azul stan, so I'd run to a fellow Azul stan to feel validated in my screaming, ahah~)
Back around the start of my TWST journey, I mainly relied on @kibadreams and jmee for story translations and rough summaries, respectively. Kibadreams does their best to retain the original “voice” of every character when they translate, and they’re very open about the potential translating mistakes they may have made and they’re striving to improve! Jmee really goes in on the details and the deeper meaning behind character relationships and TWST lore. I really appreciate the work that they have done for the community!
Special shoutout to @mysteryshoptls, whom I first got to know as a friend before they initially set up their translation blog. They’re a great source for vignettes and character lines; their translations really retain the spirit of the original characters in Japanese.
There are also a lot of artists in the TWST fandom that I admire! Seeing their posts always puts a smile on my face, and it inspires me to work hard at my own things too. I especially like seeing their own OCs and takes on certain scenes and characters from the game. It gives me confidence to share my own original works~
@4nimenut (They use very delicate brushstrokes that remind me of watercolors or traditional Chinese paintings! The lighting in their pieces is also very atmospheric~)
@airin-queenz (A very bright and cheery art style! The colors and the shading really pop out.)
@beth-lau (I love how they draw expressions! The arrangement and details... they really bring out the emotions that every character is feeling.)
@k0ushii (Their sketchy art style and color choice is very soft and easy on the eyes! They've also done gijinkas for Cookie Run and FNAF characters, which I absolutely adore the designs for!)
@lolitsleia (I love how dumb their OC Alex and Ace are together! lolitsleia really does a bit of everything, from nice fully rendered pieces to funny little sketches and comics of the characters interacting with each other!)
@myuunji (Their Yuu is really adorable and clumsy! It's lots of fun keeping up their shenanigans in the little doodles and comics they make.)
@pearlwhitecats (Their love for Silver is really pure! I can feel it come off in every Nahime x Silver work they make. I'm also a fan of their cutiepie OC Neviah~)
@renniecirque (Ren has a really unique art style! It almost looks like traditional art instead of digital because of how soft the colors and the line art is. It gives me cottagecore vibes! Very soothing to look at~)
@shimmeryspark (Kana's art is both cute and detailed! While their fully rendered pieces are a treat, I also really like their chibis--they look so round and squishy, I just want to pinch them with my fingers! Their shrimp-based OCs and Kana (the Yuusona) with Floyd and Ruggie are also adorable and pure~)
@stupidneko (I like how big and expressive their eyes are! I also really love the little details they add to accentuate various pieces, like tiny sparkles or little tuffs of cotton.)
@suiiseis (We share a mutual appreciation and intense brain rot for J word I like how dainty their style is, from the lithe forms of their characters to the way they draw eyes and hair!)
@teuffels (Their vibrant, bouncy colors really bring pieces to life! They also get really experimental with poses and compositions, which always keeps you guessing. Plus, their love for Lilia and Xiao is just so wholesome and endearing!)
@tinyfantasminha (I adore their OC Vic's sass and their breakdowns over Jack Howl! They're very talented with drawing poses and coloring in a way that mimics the TWST style!)
@yttrocen (An artist with a very soft and pastel color palette, mainly doing comics and doodles. If I'm not mistaken, they mainly do Tweels, which I can appreciate~)
@zariyen (Yuu Yumehara my beloved he's so cool and hot and-- I'm a huge fan of zari's work on alternate outfits for Pomefiore! Everything they do is really gorgeously detailed; I could stare at their pieces forever and ever!)
It feels like a really big honor when someone you look up to follows you back! It's like one of those "wow, senpai noticed me" moments you see sometimes in anime or manga. Of course, I'm not super close to everyone that I listed in this post, and I’ve also met a lot of amazing people and made friends that I didn’t include here (since they didn’t quite fit the parameters of the ask)!!
Please consider checking out their socials and supporting them!! Let’s keep exploring this twisted wonderland together 🎵
#it feels weird thinking about how many people I met because of TWST#dhjssdgsjsbjsw it has been a wild ride#to the people I pinged in this post#I’m sorry if the pings annoy or bother you 💦#question#shoutout#notes from the writing raven

hi. at this point it may be evident what i'm about to say. but for that ask meme: ALL OF THE QUESTIONS
JHFDASK YESSSS okay here we go!!!
1. Art programs you have but don't use: Clip Studio Paint!! I pretty much ONLY use it for the grid and text feature, otherwise I don't like the workflow haha
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even): Drawing in profile is the same to me from either direction, but for 3/4 view, I naturally gravitate towards / find it easier to draw people facing left
3. What ideas come from when you were little: Since I've been into Aveyond for so long, and that's what I mostly draw, I have a lot of ideas that pretty much originated as "I wanted to draw this as a kid and didn't have the skill to"!
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw: Te'ijal and also Galahad. it's the hair.
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself: Finished art I'd say I share a good 90% of it! Once we get into sketches... hoo boy, maybe 40%?
6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it): Whatever this is, it's either too specific to the piece or too subconscious for me to think of it
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate: traditional illustration, painting, watercolor...
8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in: A heads up that my answer to this is sad but I'm trying to talk about this type of stuff relatively openly, so: spring 2021, I watched Willy's Wonderland for the first time w/ Ishti + Moonie; we kept talking about a Galahad & Mel AU for it. I had two pictures for it planned, and I drew one of them, and... the timing worked out where Moonie never got to see it, and I've lost the motivation to do the second one. But I like the first one and I'm glad I drew it and I take some comfort/peace in the fact that I was working on something I was excited to share with her at the time.
9. What are your file name conventions: I have a folder for all my art, a subfolder for every year, and then a subfolder for every month, which means there isn't that much overlap! so unless I have a funny title idea my file name conventions are generally pretty straightforward: "mella1.sai", "teijalahad.sai", "teijalstudy.sai" etc etc
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw: Does armor count? If not, gambesons.
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what: Yes!!! Pretty much always music, occasionally video essays. Usually I'll pick a song and play it on loop, or if I'm in the mood for more variety I'll pick a playlist or an artist and listen through that. I also really like drawing while on call with people.
12. Easiest part of body to draw: I'm so sorry for my answer. Boobs.
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing: I'm not sure I have an answer for this one, actually - there's a lot of artists I like the work of who I wouldn't want to emulate, but that feels different to me?
14. Any favorite motifs: Not really, in theory I really love flowers but I almost never draw them
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth): I used to draw pretty much everywhere, but post chronic pain it's my desk only because using a tablet hurts wayyy less than a sketchbook!
16. Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing: Landscapes / natural areas from photographs lol
17. Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what: Water ALL the time, coffee if it lines up properly
18. An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken: Very few!! Probably less than 10. I mostly draw digitally
19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.): ARMOR AND WEAPONS
20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy: Hands and armor!
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways: Honestly the art styles unlike mine that I like tend to be ones... I wish I had... I'm really drawn to realistic, somber, softer stuff
22. What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any: Tendon gliding exercises! Tbh I should start doing more, it might help
23. Do you use different layer modes: VERY rarely, mostly not
24. Do your references include stock images: Yessss
25. Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by: I KNOW this has happened but I'm totally blanking on it
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended: I'm not sure if this counts but pretty much any time I get a "cute!" response on a te'ijalahad picture I'm like oh no please do not say that,
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with: I tend to warm up by drawing a headshot of the character I'm going to be drawing, but lately I've been trying to shift to warm ups that are more focused on like, the action of drawing and loosening up
28. Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines): I participated in a zine that ended up not happening, and I've done several fandom exchanges!! Mostly the Aveyond Winter Exchange, but also the Oneshot Podcast Network exchange on AO3 (yeah it was AO3 but I did art for it)
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically: Infinity Train!!! absolutely adore it, the art style doesn't really inspire me at all & because I got into it in the thick of my hand pain I never got used to drawing it
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated: None! I mostly draw Aveyond so pretty much all of my art is in the 1-10 response zone so it all feels pretty consistent gdjkgklsdf

...can I send an ask for the writer AND artist game at the same time? If not, dealer’s choice as to which one you answer! (Also am I the only one whose brain always gets a little scrambled looking at all these emojis and numbers? 🤣)
🤡 and 🦅
5 and 21
Haha sure Soph! And no, you’re not the only one whose brain get scrambled by the emojis and numbers in these games [writer asks and artist asks]. I’ve had to double check about 27 times to make sure I’m answering the right questions for you!
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
Oh man my main characters make me laugh at almost every exchange (well, when they’re not making me cry). I doubt anyone else thought it was as funny as I did, but I *still* laugh every time I think of Obi-Wan’s ill-mannered genitalia thoughts from Chapter 15 of A&E:
He was headed for the floor, but he declined to reach out for assistance because, really, breaking his legs one more time seemed wholly preferable to facing the man he’d just prodded with his ill-mannered genitalia. Gods. Maybe if he were lucky, his head would collide with a bedrail and he’d be knocked unconscious.
I’m also a big fan of their cartoonish, post-handjob scrambling when Mace shows up unannounced at their door.
Anakin grabbed a hand towel as the water shut off and gestured with an emphatic jerk of his head toward Obi-Wan’s room, practically shouting through their bond: GO!
Obi-Wan didn’t need to be told twice. Even with his business properly tucked away and a jar of bacta at the ready to justify his lacking attire, disappearing into his bedroom for the time being did seem to be his most sensible course of action. (Come to think of it, he might elect to live out the rest of his years there because Force help him he’d just ejaculated into his former padawan’s hand and quite frankly he would very much like to do it again and surely self-imposed solitary confinement would be preferable to looking another Jedi Councilor in the eye at any point in the near or distant future while such a secret flounced about inside his head now wouldn’t it?) He could still feel the flush on his cheeks and the cool tickle of perspiration evaporating from his skin, and he suspected he looked about as put together as a drenched loth-cat.
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
For most things I have an outline. Like A&E was too complicated and plotty to not have one (i’m not smart enough to keep that all in my head!). But I’m trying something a little different with a more recent wip that has no outline, just going to write each chapter as kind of a stand-alone episode in an au i estabish in the first chapter. We’ll see how it goes? Might be fun to have a little more freedom to play as I go :)
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
Oh gosh, I’d say at least 90% of my digital stuff is anakin/obi-wan/obikin and is intended to ultimately be posted! I’m a traditional artist at heart so all of my physical art is unrelated to fandom and not shared online. That said, being a mom with a full-time job makes that type of art almost not worth it at the moment because when you only have 10-20 minutes at a time to do art, set-up and cleanup make oil painting pretty impractical lol. Digital has really been able to fill that void for me these last couple years!
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
oh gosh, SO MANY! I’m a huge fan of cartoony styles, but I’m terrible at it. And I LOVE more painterly styles of art (02png’s work, for example), but I’m just kind of incapable of it - I try but it just looks like a lazy mess when I do it - I can’t seem to get a good likeness of what i’m going for unless I render more details, haha.
Thank you so much for the ask! 🤎🤎🤎

okay so I've been holding myself off from making another long text of me rambling and melodrama as per usual, but hey
lunar new year is in a month and this year will be the final zodiac child design I have to come up with, as a tradition I've been keeping up since 2011
idk it's just insane to me it will be 12+ years since I started doing digital art. I remembered when ratemydrawing was still up and it was basically mouse-friendly and browser-based art program that you could casually draw with other people too.
I have so much thoughts about my art journey.
It's kind of, accelerated since 2016 when I went full freelance? No more doodling for shits and giggles. Attempts to get DMCA from Disney. Being a total shitfuck edgelord and had an absolute blast from it.
During my beginning years I had those constant questions like "uh why artists put so much distance to their audience!! I want to befriend with a cool artist", and now it's 2022, yeah, you know why.
It's kinda funny like, back then I vowed to be fair and friendly to everyone I came across. Even the tiny art forum I was in back then, we'd had a really bad troll and I was a totally good boy and just tried my best to accommodate who came across. I remembered, the troll said to me "Kan, I thought you were the only nice one in here" when I finally reprimanded them.
Oh boy did it took me a decade long to learn about boundaries and I'm still clueless how to establish my own boundaries without being self conscious as fuck.
Twelve Years, I've tried running shop, tabling, selling my first book, flying aboard, being.. something. And finally got my own trauma related to my arts. An entire 12 years journey of being an "artist".
It's like, huh, back then I always wondered why older artists are salty and evasive as fuck. Why some artists are overprotective of their arts. Why some artists are like scary and serious.
I guess I've become scary and serious.
I guess what considered a tool for me to connect with others is now a suspension bridge which is going to take me down when the time comes.
Would the me 12 years ago be jealous of this.

Allright. Elliott thread that nobody asked for. Part 4
The words you read seem to be some alien gibberish? Try these first:
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Don’t worry guys. It will be over soon, I promise.
Bevore we start: This happened yesterday.
And I basically turned into that iCarly gif, where she’s on the Computer, sippin’ her drink and goes: interesting.
Because look who we have here. Our future husband acting all self-aware? Right after I assumed in my last post that he never talks about the possibility of his failure...
Elliott, do you know that I talk shit about you on Tumblr?
Please stop breaking the 4th wall...
To safe at least some of my ‘credibility’, he followed this up with something along the lines of:
“No, no...I am not fishing for compliments. Which does not mean I don't appreciate them ;) “.
Sure. Whatever.
In comparison to that:
A few in-game days previously, I had a cut-scene with Leah, where the player can suggest that she should organise an art show. And there, Leah openly communicated her fears of ppl not liking her art. I was surprised about how open she was, given that it was probably her 2nd heart event or something (?). It's interesting, how Leah (who I perceived to be more reserved than Elliott), was so willing to let us know about her insecurities. Meanwhile, Elliot seems to brush these thoughts aside rather quickly and returns to his nonchalant, graceful self.
I always thought that from the two of them, it might be Elliott who is more vocal about his emotions. But now, Elliott doesn't seem to wear his heart on his sleeves as much as I thought he would. Which changed the way I think about him quite a bit. Maybe he is more likely to hide behind platitudes and a self-assuring smile, after all.
And what can we take from this, when we would want to write, let’s say a scene with Leah/Elliott friendship dynamic?
What do you guys think?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyways, before I was so disgracefully exposed, I was roasting Elliott’s life choices. To which I now gladly return to.
You see, the "issue" I see with Elliott is, that he plays into a trope:
The brooding hermitic author, who turned his back onto society in favour of finding inspiration in nature.
While this might sound thrilling and "romantic", we know that Elliott is not the best candidate to conform to this lifestyle. Just compare, how we as the player, manage to form quite strong relationships with everyone in Pelikan Town just by talking to them regularly.
We see Elliott outside the beach-area quite often. But aside from Leah, he does not seem to interact with anyone much. I don't know if there are statements about Elliott made by other characters, to have some inkling on how they feel about him. But its quite remarkable, how all other friendships outside to his connection with Leah, are not explicitly known as canon (?).
After a whole year living in this town, previous to our arrival, I would suggest, that Elliott might still be very much an outsider. He even remarks how, with our arrival, it will be nice, to no longer be "the new guy" in town.
But the problem with that might have been Elliott's reservedness, to begin with. Polite, but yet, maybe, quite impersonal. All pleasantries and platitudes as mentioned above. It all plays into Elliott's refusal to experience the comforts of a normal lifestyle in favour of pursuing his art.
And I love how Elliott just brushes that aside as if its nothing. I'd really love to know: what would have been his plan b, if his debut failed?
Worst case cenario: What would he'd done, if he ended up stranded in Pelikan Town, penniless and unsuccessful?
Where would he go? Is there a place he can return to? A previous home, previous friends?
I don't think so.
But, dedicated, impuslive, sweet, dumb Elliott just thought to himself:
“I can do that. How bad can it be???, it will be fi~ne.It will be marvellous!
Authentic, truly!
It will be superb pictouresque and that is all I need to write my novel....”
Thanks Yoba. You’ll keep doing that please.
And then we also have interactions of the likes of:
“People have scaped a living off the sea for thousands of years....
I just go to the grocery store.”
A different thought I had on Elliott kind of plays into what I already said previously. But I will adress it as its own topic.
The downside of Elliott’s ego.
As much as we explored the rather whacky / chaotic elements of his character and how he does stupid shit for prestige itself, it is interesting to see what happens when the player challenges his self-dramatisation.
I keep re-thinking if and to what degree Elliott can laugh about himself.
He is not one for self-deprecating humour, I think.
I can imagine that to be more Shane’s thing.
We see different scenarios, in which Elliott reacts differently to things not going his way. One of the positives is the whole “A tiny crab made a home inside his coat pocket”- story. I have seen two interpretations of this scene. And both are dependent on the tone, in which you read his dialogue. One group thinks he is just complaining yet again.
On the other hand, you could read it more like:
“My, look what we have here. Can you believe that [y/name]?!“.
I think that Elliott does not appear to be angry or annoyed at all in that scenario, too. He could have vented to the player, how he needs a new coat, now. But he simply leaves it at that. And you know what?
But, there are other times, where Elliott reacts negatively to the player not doing what he wants you to do. Meaning: your reaction to him or your behaviour in a specific situation. Let's look at his 2nd (?) heart event at the Stardrop Saloon. He comes up to the bar, finds himself in the mood for company, and orders wine for you and ale for himself.
New Headcanon:
That little crab still lives there! It will probably live there long after you two get married. And he will feed it scraps from the dinner table even though you ask him not to.
Whatever...Sounds Cute.
My first reaction to that was: “aw, wHaT a GeNtLemAn!!!”. My second reaction was my inner feminist having a temper tantrum because: “how dare a man, to assume what I want to drink!”
New Headcanon on Elliott and gender roles, anyone? Or is it given, that with him being a good old fashioned lover boy, his expectation on any relationship dynamic might be more traditional?
As much as I find Elliott charming and all, this could be a great red flag and, again, beautiful material for character-conflict. Maybe Elliott needs to learn to not take everything at face value. Maybe he needs to learn, how to take a joke. Especially those made at his expense.
However, when the question arises, what the two of you should drink on, he will not laugh if you say “your doom”.
This is not something he sees as sarcasm or as a joke. In fact, you lose 50 friendship points! Like holy shit. That in itself is not much, but its a game-penalty. He is actively reacting negatively toward you. This is one of the few times, where your decision actively has an impact on the friendship-metre. Of course, that statement could be delivered in a non-joking matter. Which then justifies his reaction.... sure.
But even the fact that Elliott chooses, to not downplay or gloss-over your comment, leaves me with the following interpretation:
He hoped for a charming, flirtatious interaction. All you had to do, was to play along. But you ruined it.
Just imagine a situation with a little bit of miss-communication and a version of Elliott that is a little too proud for his own good and *chef's kiss* we have drama.
Me to Elliott and Farmer-OC: fight! fight! fight! fight! :D
All of you reading right now:
omg can't you just chill??? We are here for the fluff :(((
Also: depending on how it's written, that could be one of Elliott's major character flaws. The one that is not cute at all!
__________________________
I wanted to take some jabs at Elliott's likes and dislikes. But as it turned out: Yes, you can turn Duck feathers into quills. I had this funny headcanon that Elliott wanted to be extra special by choosing duck feathers as his preferred writing instrument. And I was all like: “use a pen!!”.
But then I found out about the Unobtainable Weapons-List and Elliott’s pen is one of them. Okay, whatever.
And then I asked google how to make quills. And while duck feathers are not the preferred or most popular option, there is also nothing that would speak against it, as long as the feather’s shaft is durable enough. So that theory has flown out of the window pretty quickly as well.
The only thing that comes to my mind instead is, how Elliott would still need a digital manuscript for publishing. But me screaming: “Where is your Laptop Elliott??? You need a computer! Its the 21 century!!!” is not half that funny anymore.
I guess I’ll end it here.
I hope you enjoyed this completely useless stream of consciousness.
I will now continue playing Stardew Valley and indulge in all my other quarantine-born obsessions.
I wish you a wonderful day and happy farming.
