I love the show dearly, the characters will always have a special place in my heart, but their queer rep was a joke—and I don’t mean in an award winning way.

Colin’s storyline being focused around his straight counterparts rather than his actual journey and coming out

Keeley entering into a toxic relationship with a questionable power dynamic that ends up almost destroying her career

Trent’s two throwaway lines about coming out to someone twice and having a daughter that literally never got elaborated on

Notes: Ok at first I was like let me wait until I post the full master list of everything...but I kinda feel bad that I'm not feeding y'all anything so here you go.... Basically Y/n is part of Cultracha w Hyunjin and Jeongin, this is the backstory of it. YAYYYY FIRST FIC PART OF THE Y/N MASTERLIST!!!

Summary: Stopping on a road trip to take a bathroom break becomes a little more memorable than you thought it would be.

The van hums along the scenic coastal road, and the atmosphere inside is electric with excitement. You're nestled between Felix and Changbin, enjoying the animated chatter and laughter of your fellow members.

Bang Chan, your designated driver, glances over his shoulder and grins, "Alright, who's ready for some awesome tunes?" He cranks up the music, and the van erupts with cheers and claps.

Seungmin, riding shotgun, adds with a mischievous grin, "As long as you don't play any of those old-school songs, Chan."

Chan rolls his eyes, pretending to be offended. "Hey, my playlist is diverse!"

A chorus of playful laughter fills the air, and you join in. Seungmin leans toward you, teasing, "Don't worry, Y/n, I'm sure he's got at least one song from this decade on there."

You giggle, feeling the friendly vibes flowing through the van. The snacks you packed are making the rounds, and there's an ongoing competition between Hyunjin and Jeongin to see who can finish their bag of chips first.

As you navigate through the twists and turns, the conversation shifts to jokes. Han clears his throat dramatically. "Alright, guys, get ready for the funniest joke you'll ever hear."

"Let's hear it," Minho urges, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Han smirks, "Why did the scarecrow win an award?"

The van falls into a brief silence before Jeongin's deadpan response, "Because he was outstanding in his field?"

Han bursts into laughter, clapping his hands. "Yes! You got it!"

The rest of you burst into laughter as well, teasing Han for his choice of joke. "Wow, Han, you're really raising the bar for comedy," Seungmin jokes, earning more laughter.

Felix chimes in with his Australian accent, "Alright, I've got one. Why don't scientists trust atoms?"

Your curiosity piqued, you lean in. "Why?"

"Because they make up everything!" Felix delivers the punchline with a grin, and the van erupts into laughter once again.

Hyunjin claps him on the shoulder. "Guys I might actually jump out of the van if I hear one more joke."

As the jokes and laughter continue, Bang Chan suggests a bathroom break. You spot a small convenience store and point it out. The van comes to a stop, and you all pile out, stretching your legs and enjoying the fresh air.

The restrooms are a bit off the beaten path, nestled between tall trees. The small store looks like something straight out of a movie. After using the restroom, you exit and notice two individuals standing near the entrance. You hear snippets of their conversation about spirituality as you pass by.

"Excuse me, miss," one of them begins, stepping toward you. "Have you ever considered the path to true enlightenment?"

Caught off guard, you stutter, "Well, I..."

Before you can finish, the other person joins in, their eyes intense. "Our journey has led us to discover profound answers. Are you on a journey of your own?"

Feeling a bit overwhelmed, you mumble, "I'm sorry, I have to go," and quicken your pace to the van.

Once inside, the memory of the encounter lingers, and your wide eyes don't go unnoticed by your members. As they return, laughter and smiles in tow, Hyunjin notices your demeanor.

"Hey, Y/n, everything okay?" he asks, genuine concern in his voice.

You take a deep breath and share the bizarre encounter with the strangers. The van goes quiet as everyone absorbs the story, but soon enough, a burst of laughter fills the space.

Jeongin chuckles, "Cult members? Seriously?"

Minho grins, "Only you could attract that kind of attention, Y/n."

You let out a nervous laugh, "Yeah, tell me about it."

Changbin shakes his head with a smirk, "Well, you're back with us now, safe and sound."

Felix pats your shoulder, "Don't worry, Y/n, we won't let any cults recruit you."

As the van continues down the coastal road, you feel the warmth of your friends' comfort. Bang Chan offers a reassuring smile through the rearview mirror. "We've got your back, always."

Minho adds with a chuckle, "Yeah, and if they ever ask you to join, just tell them you're already part of the most exclusive cult – Stray Kids."

So, broad question to anyone: ...good place for posting original fiction...? I seem to recall Ao3 has something, maybe, for original fic but it was hacky, like the fandom was "original content" or smth. Am I totally wrong about that? Is there somewhere better for original content?

what do you love the most about twenty one pilots?

i fucking love this question, but there's no easy answer to it. i guess i'm gonna have to try tho, because sometimes i feel like maybe some of you don't really understand WHY i totally changed my entire blog when clancy came out (it's kinda like me loving this band was my biggest secret for such a long time, idk. i still remember how a few months before it i've mentioned something and anix literally yelled at me like "WHY THE FUCK YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU LIKE TWENTY ONE PILOTS" lmao. anyway).

first of all, no one has ever made me feel so seen and understood. there's real magic in tyler joseph's lyrics, you might hate me for what i'm about to say right now, but speaking of tortured poets - for me it's not taylor, it's tyler. and the scariest part of it all is that i very often relate to his lyrics. but that's also beautiful - it's therapeutic in a way. so when clancy came out and i realized i relate to pretty much EVERY song on this record, i just thought to myself, oh lord, how did i survive this long without their music. it's always been them for me. i will never abandon them again, i swear.

second thing, the lore. you all know i'm a slut for stories told through music (*cough* musical theatre *cough*). also, if the plot of the story is complex and weird as fuck, there's a pretty big chance it will become my favourite thing in the world. the entire lore is an insane metaphor for mental health struggles so, obviously, i can find a part of myself in it. i would die for their lore, honestly. it's all i can think about. and clancy will always be my fucking blorbo.

another thing i love a lot about them, and it's something you don't really see if you don't watch their interviews or live performances, they are literally just two dudes. both josh and tyler have always been very anxious and awkward and weird and that's what makes them more human in my opinion - just two fucking idiots who are best friends, lmao. they are so relatable in every possible way. they are also the funniest dudes in the entire world. and their friendship is so fucking beautiful. the only difference between us and them, truly, is that they are extremely talented and they have their own band.

also, they care about the clique so fucking much, this was probably mentioned on my blog before (maybe even today in a previous ask). they don't care about the charts, about awards, about anything really, all they care about is their music and fans. they don't do it to be the best band in the world. they do it to save lives - our lives as much as their own (if it wasn't for this music i don't know how i would have fought this). and that's what makes them different and honestly, better than the other artists.

they are also pretty much unproblematic. i wasn't really sure if i should mention that, but i feel like i need to. tyler joseph made one stupid mistake a few years ago - the way people reacted to this still breaks my fucking heart. he realized he was wrong tho, he apologized. the other day i saw a post here on tumblr about how he's fucking problematic and racist and the worst man on the planet etc etc. can we... fucking stop, please. it was just a stupid joke and he knows it was dumb and unnecessary. most people wouldn't even apologize, but he did. end of story. i will defend him with my life (not saying he is perfect, but shit, if you want to cancel him for one mistake maybe you should look at yourself first).

i feel like there are thousand different reasons but i'm just gonna stop here, because it's too fucking long already and no one will read it anyway.

Skills

One of the easiest ways to endear me to a character is to give them a skill (another reason Tiana, Mulan, Esmeralda and Rapunzel are a few of my favorite Disney Heroines, they all have/gain skills that are at least somewhat valuable to the plot and their character development). Ariel too but since everyone in the Disneyverse has an amazing voice it's hard for her to stand out in that way. But I'm not sure why I went on a tangent about Disney heroines when this post is actually about Gen V. For fanfic and meta purposes I've been thinking of what skills the characters should have that don't inherently pertain to being superheroes.

Marie: Medicine. This is a popular one and for a reason. I'd love it if in the coming seasons we see her going even beyond the instincts of her powers to understand how bodies work and how to fix them, and the healing properties of certain drugs, herbs and plants. This would make her powers even more efficient and would come in clutch if she was ever unable to use them for whatever reason. She's already expressed interest in learning CPR (in the funniest way possible), and is generally invested in saving lives rather than merely fighting, so let's see where that goes. Jordan: Music. I'll admit that this was mostly spawned by the shot of a guitar in their room and the fact that listening to music is the first thing we see them doing, but having musical abilities is also considered a plus in Vought world. However, I don't think performing at award shows and telethons is going to make them happy. For Jordan I see playing instruments as something they do as a very personal, stress-relieving activity that they just happen to be very good at. They do open mics out of costume and write melodies in a journal and give their friends little concerts. It's what centers them.

Emma: Sewing, costume design. I headcanon that she makes her own tiny outfits (although they are just as likely doll clothes). After embracing her growth abilities she will probably also have to learn to make giant clothes, or garments with a lot of stretch and versatility. She has a fairly quirky and dynamic sense of fashion so I'd imagine she'd get a lot out of this creatively as well.

Cate: Event planning, hospitality. Cate, with all of her many many flaws, has a very warm and friendly demeanor, and a way of making people feel comfortable. She also has that confident popular girl quality and just wants everyone around her to have a good time. I bet she throws a bitching party.

Sam: Painting, drawing. Sam sees the world in an unconventional way to say the least, and he has a lot of troubles that he could use a peaceful outlet for. The idea of him getting inspiration from his comic books and learning to draw and paint is a solid one in my opinion.

Andre/Luke: Athletics. It's difficult to talk about Andre right now, and Luke left before I got to know him better, but they both have athlete vibes to me. I see Andre being really into a rowdier sport like hockey or soccer, and Luke gravitating more toward something preppy like lacrosse or rowing. But if they were on the same team I think their sport would be baseball.

About 15 years ago, a man by the name of Kenichi Maeyamada (aka Hyadain) released a parody remix of 'The Battle with Four Fiends' from Final Fantasy IV. The lyrics include a bit of NSFW jokes (namely Cagnazzo having a 'turtle head', which is a penis joke), but it's a fucking bop.

Mind you, he made this in his late 20s, along with a variety of other songs including Mega Man 2 themes being remixed into love and sex ballads, a stellar remix of Dragon Quest 4's casino theme being made into characters feuding over poker, and a completely stunning rendition of the Final Fantasy theme WITH LYRICS!

Mind you: After a while, he stopped doing these videos, as he became busy making quite of a bit of music for J-Pop musicians and anime intros.

Probably one of my favorite anime intros is the one he did for Nichijou, which is such an amazing comedy anime. Don't get me started. It is so my humor, and also, the intros are so, so good and cute.

He's still making music to this day, but the funniest bit of the story happened last year. Hyadain is in his early 40s at this point, and last year, SquareEnix confront him asking for him to make a song for one of their games.

I SHIT YOU NOT: THEY ASKED HIM TO MAKE A BOSS THEME REMIX OF 'THE BATTLE OF FOUR FIENDS' (THE SAME SONG HE PARODIED AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS POST) FOR THE AWARD WINNING MMORPG EXPANSION: FINAL FANTASY XIV ENDWALKER!

And it's such a fucking banger! In the comments, you can see people reference some of the lyrics from Hyadain's parody. It's so good.

Like, I'm not going to say Hyadain has lived this legacy where he is a god we all need to bow down to. But he's made some pretty awesome stuff over the years.

Anyway. I just thought this whole story was cool, and felt like sharing.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

currently TES has been getting the gears going the most, but ER is my perennial love - and once in a blue moon I am compelled to do something TLU! SM is still very dear to my heart but I've been pretty dry on fic inspiration/drive for it for a while now :(

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

these are ALL OLDER PIECES haha so don't look too closely: it still burns - fluffy OPM piece for Knight c: what else can I say! too cold for you here and now - fluffy little Makoami piece (are you sensing a pattern already...) featuring terrible puns, because I have always loved characters trying to make each other laugh you do it for her (that is to say you do it for him) - another one written for Knight; OPM/SM crossover. with TWO chapters! left, left, left right left - introspective Romano piece re: arm. I actually now disagree with some character choices I made in this one so seeing it still getting attention has me like no... this doesn't represent me... Across the Western Ocean I Must Wander - Makoami pirate AU. also not a oneshot! (shock!) I don't think it holds up as well as I'd like, but the premise still compels me and there's some cute moments :'D still VIVIDLY remember being up late on a class night listening to one song on repeat while working on The Kissing Scene™

frankly idek - being completely honest, "angst" just as a word at this point turns me off so immediately and so hard that I can't engage with the concept that way. I prefer endings with some hope, but I like some emotional complexity too! all my baggage about fandom and "angst" is for. ANOTHER TIME

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

again I'm not totally sure how to answer this one! I guess Ocean? doesn't get much more stereotypically happily-ever-after than "and then they ran away together the end"

8. Do you get hate on fics?

no, thankfully! I've gotten the occasional comment here and there that make me go "??" but more just sort of confusing, not malicious as far as I can tell lol

sdlkghlsj sex-repulsed asexual here and not for the first time I say: I am reasonably confident nobody wants me doing that. it can happen but offscreen to spare me the inevitable mortification... fade-to-black is about as far as we go in the House Of Mouse sorry!!

I have before! it's not my preferred stomping grounds but I like a good one. I don't know about "craziest" but wouldn't do us any harm I think is probably the funniest of the handful I've shared (again: written primarily for Knight! warning that it is from 2016 LOL)

yes! baby Mouse ran a fic awards "show" (in the written medium obviously) with a friend back in like 2010 or 2011 on FFN... it was loads of fun!

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Makoami Princess and the Goblin AU :( still means a lot to me but SM just hasn't been where I've been drawn to write for a while!

16. What are your writing strengths?

dialogue + characterization is most often what I get compliments on (<3) - I'd like to think I have a fairly decent hand for little meaningful details too, but I think these more often than not end up just being for my own benefit because I like my symbolism subtle aha

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

LONGFORM... plugging together things into ordered chapters and maintaining momentum over longer spaces is my greatest struggle. without the context of "fandom", the first story I ever wrote was about the Boxcar Children hanging out with me at age 6 (the entirety of chapter three was all of us singing the alphabet together and it was narratively crucial that this happen. for some reason.). with the context of knowing about fandom though, Scooby Doo at 11-12!

of what's posted: Ocean has a lot of personal meaning because it was the first multichapter piece I was able to finish in several years, but on a technical level I've been really proud of some of the more layered pieces I've been practicing in the last year or so: Thermal Equilibrium and skipping stones I think are good examples of that :')

last post made me remember one of the funniest stories ever oh my god

so when i adopted my cat (only a month old at the time) the woman we adopted it from told me and my dad that it was a girl, so we gave her a girl name (she was named “sally” at first) and for idk a month or two everyone full on believed she was a girl

until we had to go to the vet for her first checkup to see if everything was alright and as the vet does whatever he needs to do at some point he goes “okay his testicles are fine” and me and my dad look at him like he just shot someone in front of us and then look at eachother in full shock because WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN SHE IS A HE

after the visit telling literally everyone that my cat is in fact a boy was both the hardest and the funniest thing ever and he got the “first trans cat ever award” (/nsrs) from some of my friends and everytime i think about this story it makes me laugh so hard MY CAT IS WOKE!!!!!!

Hoyofam headcannons; relationships

ZZZ:

currency just a baby but I really see them as sort of being frenemies with Wuwa, ik that wuwa is supposed to be the “genshin killer” but I think it’d be more accurate to pin it against zzz but of their closeness in release dates.

No other close relationships outside of their family

Themis:

I like to think that Themis mostly interacts with the other Chinese otome games. And she’s friends with most of them, despite how competitive they are with each other.

Greatly respects international based otome games,

She recognizes that all of them have the same or similar fanbases

But everything changed when love and deepspace got into the market… At first, it was fine… especially since new games flood into the market pretty often. She wasn’t too worried… but then; He started getting more popular… gaining traction… she was still fine with it, a lil good competition is good after all. Then… he became no.1 on downloads worldwide… This was when she started to panic a lil bit. Okay, not just a lil bit… it was driving her insane. Relationship with hsr tends to be a bit rocky and tense at times,,, they aren’t too sweet with each other like they are with their sisters,,, cuz yuck yk. But they are the funniest with each other. Was one of the few anime gacha games at the time [I think?] So she was a bit of an outcast

A lot of the people that she meets that are like super successful now are all like “omg you were literally such an inspiration to me, growing up.” And she always feels so old cuz wtf wym you were inspired by her 7 years ago…?

Family; she raised them for Christ’s sake! Not the most maternal parent figure. She didn’t really know much when she was raising genshin since she herself never had a mentor/parent figure. She didn’t raise Themis much since I mentioned in my previous posts that she stayed in this big hydro chamber thing for the first year of her life. Which is why her relationship with Themis is a bit more friend-like since she didn’t have to act like a parent. With Hsr tho, she went full on mom mode. It was her mini me after all! The vessel that will continue her legacy through her retirement and death! She got the hang of it and did take care of him pretty well. With ZZZ tho, it was more like she was the aunt rather than the sister. Not much different with how she raised hsr but she became a lot more chill and secure.

In professional spaces he was always referred to as: Genshin’s brother.

It annoyed him allat, it def didn’t help that he was literally always by his brother’s side

People would approach him, asking about his older siblings

In conventions he’s a bit shy and nervous speaking to large crowds

He got used to it and started liking attending events with all his fans.

Not social with other games but really wants to hang out with them

Jimin's cuddly and snuggly with all the members. But with Yoongi I feel sometimes, that Jimin is extra soft. Even with the bickering and play jabbing each other, the way he looks at Yoongi, and especially when you catch him smiling right at Yoongi he just exudes this deep, deep affection. Just, he seems to kind of, entirely melt if Yoongi meets his eyes and Jimin really does have a Yoongi-special smile. It's so adorable. And I think the best part of Yoonmin's relationship is how entirely antithetical it is to what is so-called 'fanservice'. Their skinship is the most, cutest thing ever: the gentlest of tugs and of tight hand-holding, and sometimes though, a reassuring back rub! They'll tease and fight each other, which is literally the opposite of what typical shipping couples are supposed to do, and it's hilarious. If Jimin does anything sexy, Yoongi will just become like a spellbound, flabbergasted, open-mouthed statue and it's the funniest thing ever. They feel like soulmates who have met many times before, in many lifetimes; they feel like exes who still know they'll only ever love each other regardless of who comes into their lives. They feel like the comfort of knowing someone who will always choose you. They feel like the slow burn that curls your toes and all you can do is turn the next page and look forward to the day they never let go.

Hi, anon! It’s hard to put their physical interactions into words! (Although I’m not sure I’d say they seem like exes.) To me, they seem to provide each other with so much comfort! It’s really sweet. There is something about them that’s so soft and gentle and stands out even among this group of very affectionate people.

I always think that when Yoongi has an arm around Jimin, he hasn’t just flung it there; he’s holding him.

And then there’s the fact that he’s often touching skin, not shirt:

And the reassuring back rubs! Don’t even get me started on those. They’re lovely! Ddeun Ddeun and the post-AMA live are two of my favorite examples.

You made a great point about fanservice. Fanservice is meant to be fun. Light. Cute. Flirty. But what we see between Jimin and Yoongi does not fit with that. It’s deeper and often takes place in the background, off to the side, during times of slight stress (red carpets, award shows, interviews). It’s subtle and sometimes even hesitant. I would not use either of those words to describe typical fanservice.
