My ass was bored today and i did some ✨character development✨ which mainly consisted of giving xem some pets so! That’s what this is! :D

so. This was me contemplating shit originally (i did not in fact have any references for these snakes so most of them i had envisioned. Do Not Exist :,D

don’t take any of the info on the picture above as gospel bcs the names, breeds, etc have completely changed dhjdgddd. last night i mini rabbi hole’d on sneks and actually figured out breeds n allthat

So we’ve got:

Wolf:

Wolf is a red, yellow and black milk snake. She’s named after Wolf Alice, one of Phe’s favourite artists. Also she just thought that naming an animal a completely different animal name was very silly (it was me. I thought that.)

Donny:

Donny’s an albino ball python. His markings are spots rather than the normal splodges (the markings are like the ones on the reference image below). He’s named partially after Donny from Baby Reindeer, partially after xeir uncle and also just because he curls up like a donut.

Cali (not greeny lmao):

Cali’s a smooth green snake (yeah that’s what they���re actually called hdhjvghd) She’s named after both Cali from FunkyFrogBait channel and as a nod to Zerocalcare. It’s 2 funky Netflix shows (tear along the dotted line and this world can’t tear me down) that go very hard and that Phe loves, as they should.

Always found it interesting how, in the anime, Roark ended up getting all of his duties and responsibilities pushed onto him by other people. Due to his connection with fossils, I feel like he would've much rather been a full time paleontologist than a gym leader and foreman of the mines. Yet, due to everybody believing him to be capable of the jobs and his hatred of disappointing people, he's effectively stuck as is.

Poor boy.

Anyways, new drawing tablet acquired. Yippee. Yay! Wahoo. Works wonders honestly. Also, next post should be something a little more lighthearted. I've been going through a time lately so my art is a little sadder than usual.

Before my diary defaults, I was in the process of creating book defaults to match my game! I wanted some to match the funky, nostalgic, and silly Maxis Match-ish style that I enjoy!

I also decided to make recolors of the FT Artig poster with these novel covers for a future build, I included those as a separate download in case anyone else is interested.

If you are using any other mod that replaces the novel cover icons in the write a novel screen, make sure ziSimChi_Default_NovelCoverIcons loads after it.

Each novel is based off of existing media: ◦ Reference - the one that started it all, is now Skilling for Simmies, inspired by the For D*mmies series (feat. a new mascot). ◦ Romance - The Rogue's Groom, inspired by the many romance novel covers starring Fabio. This one features a cameo by the beautiful Carlos Suarez, from @eulaliasims's amazing Middleground! ◦ Children - Gooseflesh: Night of the Living Bunnies, inspired by the Goosebumps series. ◦ Cooking - The Complete Gelatin Cookbook, inspired by the horrifying mid century Jello creations. ◦ Drama - Running with Scissors, cover art inspired by Kubric's A Clockwork Orange. ◦ Mystery - Everyone Nose What You Did Last Summer, inspired by Louis Duncan's I Know What You Did Last Summer. ◦ Sci-Fi - Plantimorphs, inspired by the Animorphs series.

The more I learn about your comic... The more I fall in love with it. Especially your bugs! Like can you explain more about them? I'm really curious about them (from the full bugs to the hybrids and anything else that comes to mind).

The worldbuilding is a work in progress (as it always is, but the first chunk of the comic itself is pretty self-contained so we've been slowly tinkering at the rest of the world and creatures as we go without affecting it much), so we mostly have loose rules and ideas for the bugs as a species. Or anything in between for that matter.

For all intended purposes, bug people are all the same species and can usually cross-breed within mechanical constraints, as well as mix with the elves we threw into the mix. Genetics? Don't know her. We operate on Sims logic here.

A full bug has roughly a human lifespan, with some variation depending on the type of bug it's closer to and some type-specific quirks. The one we've explorer the most, as it pertains to Ashton and the latest batch out of the oven, is the ability that some types might have to undergo metamorphosis, usually at the expense of lifespan. This is Ashton btw

Something like this isn't super common tho! So despite me drawing a bunch of butterfly or moth people they generally don't get to that point and stay looking more like funky lizards with many arms

Bugs can have many arms or legs or eyes, funky colours, exoskeletal bits, antennae, or look pretty close to your average human/elf with hidden bug features. Dahlia for instance is a vaguely spidery bug but can easily hide a bunch of her eyes and secretes venom thru hidden glandes so you could mistake her for an elf

Meanwhile it'd be very hard to mistake someone like this guy for anything other than a horned bug

Some bugs are small! Some are huge. Some are out there committing atrocities

Some dont look like bugs at all

They're generally not as physically strong as the average elf but more resilient in a cockroach kinda way. They can have a chaotic range of circulatory systems and internal organs that sometimes just make them really hard to kill and its also pretty hard to keep track of every variation of the species and their quirks.

That being said in a lot of places they're super common and coexist with elves just fine, mix up and it's also not super uncommon to have half breeds like our man Staeve (the ThUG edition). The closer you get to elf the longer you live and less "non human" traits you have. There's also a bunch of different types of regular ass elf and it all falls under the elf category unless we decide to name them something else down the line.

Then you've got a smaller category of super elves that have been isolated for so long they never blended with anything else, are more attuned to magic and in general have a sort of mythical status amongst everyone else. They also have the longest lifespan at around 250 ish years.

That's sort of the TL;DR for now! Ollie and I have started to put all the info we've got into a single repository and do want to start sharing it (probably as patreon posts for now) because comics are slow and the scope might not encompass that much of what we want to explore of this world. And the chaotic idea machine never stops

Realized that there's a good chance I'm never gonna be finishing the art book if I stick to the og concept plan agshsgs so I'm cutting out the last four pages I had planned and adding an ending page instead, gonna finish the he and she sketches and then a little ending note. Might include the creature redraw drawing as a little funky ending picture

This was started last year ish agshsg back when flowerfall was just getting finished so it won't be featuring the new builds like the greater spawn or the ruins and stuff haha, it's like an outdated encyclopedia

I'm planning to just purchase the pdf version and posting it for free online so the digital copy is available whenever. The actual physical copy will be pretty expensive though, around like 100 something USD because of production costs. I'll mostly be profiting like 3 bucks from each purchase LMAO so I'm not really pressed on sales or anything, just thought it'll be a cool thing if people want it. My friend brought up possible adding some sort of tipping link if ever, so I Might add that? But I have my merch shop and prints and streams so it's alright
