Sharing my contribution to the Umbral Wings Tarot Deck with my art for the Knight of Water!

Going to dip a little bit into the designmaking process itself under the cut!

The Knight of Water is thematically about sensitivity. Charm, romance imagination-as a person, it's about a 'knight in shining armor' type character who may help others with the matters of the heart.

I also wanted to note that another cool thing about this deck is that the artists were designated their suit depending on their art and rendering style! The Air suit focuses on more atmospheric type art, Fire is character symbolism driven, in the Earth suit you'll se a lot of traditional-style rendering, and in the Water suit you'll see a lot more anime-inspired art styles!

With these factors in mind, I wanted a composition that would pay homage to the classic anime bishoujo genre--sailor moon and utena played heavily into the design and composition--something with lots of sparkles, atmospheric framing, a pretty waterfall to tie in the elemental theme, and lots and lots (and LOTS) of roses. (Fun fact! If you look at each rose, they have a heart in the centre! Each one was carefully and painstakingly hand drawn!). The pose that was chosen for this card was also a direct homage to the classic Sailor Moon style transformation sequences (and also swan mating dances with the wings), with the element of a 'bleeding heart' visual cue so to speak with the red roses and petals to the chest haha--it was fun going through different pose ideas before settling on this one! Roses and thorns go hand in hand, so thorny vines were also added at the bottom so that they become more evident when the card is inverted! (The inverted card speaks of emotional upset, depression, hypersensitivity, and lashing out)

For the dragon design itself, I took the 'prince on a white horse' and 'knight in shining armor' aspect and meshed them with leafy and weedy sea dragons and betta fish from real life to make a unicorn-like design--a creature that is traditionally associated with sensitivity and emotions--with a classic anime magical girl spin. I wanted the design to look ethereal and noble, and still clearly a dragon instead of a horse! (It was trickier than one might think!)

That's all the notes I have at the moment! Overall this was an Incredibly fun project to think through, I know I've been absolutely vibrating off the walls to share this haha! Everyone else has also brought their A game to each card in this deck, be sure to check them out through the KS link when you can, I can assure you that each and every card is just as lovingly rendered as this one!

I'm not fully ready to set up commissions yet but I wanted to see if people are interested. Long story short, I'm a brown trans and multiply disabled person with ME/CFS, chronic pain and autism living in the UK, so I'm currently dependent on my family + pretty much homebound most of the time. This also means I'm unable to study or work, and I kinda need money to start becoming more independent + eventually leave a stressful home situation.

So if you 🫵 have ever wanted to see your little guy in my style, you're in luck.

Here's a few examples of my work in the styles I'd be offering:

sketch portraits (~£30-£40)

rendered full colour portraits (~£70-£80)

For the moment I'd only be offering symmetry tool portrait commissions, sketch and rendered as shown above, though I'll see if I can figure out an intermediate tier. I'm most comfortable drawing these + can reliably offer them accounting after accounting for fatigue/pain flareups. I would need sufficient visual references, at minimum a variety of picrews and a detailed description, but I'd highly prefer screenshots/faceclaims/other art etc. Complex designs will incur additional cost for more work.

I was planning to post Floyd’s pic a longggg time ago. It wasn’t even finished until I came up with the idea for the milestone event. Leona and Rook’s pic is also a bit different, since I used a different brush for sketching (I planned to not do the line-art and go straight to rendering, so).

Rook’s photo is my least favorite, to be honest😭 I feel like I did him a bit dirty hjsjdhsk same for Ruggie, since I can’t draw a back view💔BUT MY FAVORITE IS….drum-roll please…CATER!! Surprising, I know, but I think it looks so good and I did a great job on it!!!

It was a bit difficult for me to select which character for each scene, so if your faves aren’t here I apologize(;´༎ຶٹ༎ຶ`)

I’m a little nervous charging this much after prices have been fairly low for so long but I felt like I was deeply undercharging, especially for bigger and more complicated pieces/character designs. And since it’s the new year, I figured I’d do em now :) There might be adjustments later on for things like additional characters or backgrounds, but with work around the corner and eventually losing a lot of the time I would normally dedicate to commissions, I felt more comfortable sacrificing the frequency of them if it meant I could be paid more for it.

As for other changes, I wanted to introduce a rendered color option for customs. Commission quality coloring and getting a character designs for you, it seemed like a great idea 😌 I also now take Venmo as a payment option since I got it set up months ago so if you prefer that, go for it!

I’m still doing the 5 slot system but they might be the only slots I’ll be taking around February when commissions become a lot more scarce. I will say though that large payments (like $300+ in the rare case anything EVER goes that high) can be separated out into smaller payments, you just won’t get the file until it’s fully paid for.

Hello, all my fellow Invaders, Extraterrestrials, and all those alike! Welcome to the Invader Zim Amino Winter contest of 2024!

I know it's been a long time since the Invader Zim Amino hosted an official event, but as we've noticed some new users on our platform, we’ve decided it was time to revive the contests and events for all the newcomers!!!

Now some might be reading this from Tumblr and wonder, “Why is this posted here when it's a contest on Amino?” Well, due to Amino not being as lively as it once was (and rather understandable as to why), the staff at IZA have decided to host the contest between both Tumblr and Amino, so we can reach as many users who may want to attend as possible! (While keeping it manageable of course.) Those who attend, will get a chance at winning the prizes and being featured as the winner for this Seasonal Contest!

This season is Winter! And the two themes all contestants will get to choose from are:

“Blizzard” and “Snowed In”!

Your entry can take many forms, whether it's writing, drawing, crafting, animation, etc! It just must follow one of the themes, and must take place in the Invader Zim universe! (OCS and AUs are welcome and encouraged!!)

All entries will be judged by a mixture of skill, appearance/structure, how it ties to the theme, and the overall effort put into it! The leader of the Invader Zim Amino, and its curators (as well as some feedback from the users and those observing the contest), will be in charge of going through and judging the entries and gathering them all together!

In Amino, all you must do is type it and place it somewhere in your post, and for Tumblr, you must make sure it is in your tags section before you post! This way the gathering process is just a tiny bit more simple! <3

Little Update on What's Up and Coming on Patreon & Ko-Fi! 🎉

Hey guys 👋 Just realized it's been a while since I last make posts about what I've been posting on Patreon and Ko-Fi, so I figured out to just gather them all in this one update post to let you guys know!

First of all, we've actually got two character art commissions done last month, making the total character art currently available to four! 🤩 Last month, I commissioned a full-body art for Jackal and a half-body, fully-rendered portrait for Female Ash (with background too!) from two different artists with different styles. The months before that, I commissioned a portrait of Luka and Male Ash.

This month, I'm commissioning two more character art and I actually have a poll currently open for which RO would get a fully-rendered character portrait this time! Both the character art and the poll are available for those in the Morozov Ally tier.

I also have a Side Story and a Spicy Side Story for November up in both Patreon and Ko-Fi, and I've just recently opened Side Story Ideas Request for December. Once I've gathered the ideas/requests, we'll do a poll to choose which one you guys want to see the most for this month!

The ideas/requests, the poll, and the spicy sides story will be available to those in the Morozov Enforcer tier and above, while the normal side stories are available for those in the ECPD Officer tier and above.

Oh, and I almost forgot, I've written another two-part Extra Side Story and it is currently up on early access to all Patrons across all tiers! The extra side story is kind of a continuation of the previous one and it tells how Jackal and Luka finally got together after years of repressed feelings for each other.
