ive realised i actually really like landscapes so long as theyre somewhat gestural/surreal. this is from 2022 so ive definitely improved (and also switched art programs so i dont have the same brush) but this type of thing is so fun

predominantly dip pen/fineliner doodles from around september (i think?) as well as some colouring pencils. a handful of these were based people i saw on youtube and the hand sanitiser was a study of a physical object

other than being nostalgic for it i barely even care about lbp but seeing the way sony treats it makes me so miserable. like i mean for all the other weird and wonderful games i love dearly that have been missing out on sequels at least they werent the mascot of the entire console only 2 generations ago

#art #doodles #little big planet #ms paint #tw alcohol #alcohol #cw alcohol #like i mean. the ones that spring to mind for me are NiGHTS parappa and klonoa #klonoa is honestly really niche so i can understand why there havent been any new games in ages #(not including the phantom reverie series because that's just a remaster)#parappa doesnt really *need* a sequel i just think it deserves one #and NiGHTS is different because it's a sonic team game so i understand why they havent made one in a while #(i hope they do soon though)#actually would you consider parappa a mascot??? like when i think “ps1 mascots” the first two that spring to mind are crash and toro #which is kinda messy seeing as crash isnt playstation exclusive anymore and toro is pretty much japan exclusive #parappa is neither of those things #but like. i think theres a difference between “iconic character” and “mascot of the entire console”#whatever i need to go to bed

i love the computer so much and i love to draw on the computer but having to deal with animation softwares refusing to recognise that yes, i do have ffmpeg installed and connected makes me miss drawing on the phone and the chromebook

painted surge and i mean. ik my scanner hates neon colours but she scanned in blue for some reason??? i kinda like it tbf so i included both. unfortunately neither are quite as bright as it is in real life and the eye is different but hey ho

also i decided to document the process for this painting for once. paints used are daler rowney graduate acrylic + daler rowney system3 acrylic. i pretty much exclusively use daler rowney or cheaper in all my paintings btw

i forgot to take photos for this part but i started off with a burnt umber + ultramarine base. i struggled a few times with blocking in surge until i decided to paint the eye first amd then paint her in a watered down green. added a red glaze to the background for additional contrast & clarity

next i painted in the skin, nose and shirt. tried using scumbling on the shirt but it was kinda useless

added the green (flourescent green + flourescent yellow + ultramarine + burnt umber) and also her face marking (same colour but with mars black + a bit more ultramarine)

added white (mixed with the same green i used for the quills) to the sclera and pure flourescent blue for the iris

drybrushed in some brighter greens to make her pop and addrd in her eyeliner

gave her her jewelery and added to her iris

did a subtle red glaze (cadmium red hue + titanium white) and added in her spikes, then did a few tiny details in white gel pen and added my signature

i do kinda wish i put more effort into the jewelery because it does look really weird (especially the earrings) but i was running out of steam
