More survival horror stuff, this time with Armony Eiselstein (Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel) as Alyssa Hamilton from Clock Tower 3. I have yet to play Broken Angel, but this felt right somehow.
I had a blast from the past and remembered I had the basic sketch for this lying around somewhere. The initial sketch was traced from official art of Alyssa, as I can't pull off proportions and perspective on the best of days.
That skirt was an absolute nightmare and I never wanna see plaid again.

I'm considering getting a retro gaming console, mostly because I don't have a working ps2 and I would like to play the games I played on that system.
But in what research I'm doing on those retro gaming emulator consoles I've been seeing adds for, I can't find a way to know what games are preloaded on these systems.
I just want to know if I can play the following before I spend money on something that could be a waste:
>Kya: Dark Lineage
>Shadow the Hedgehog
>Sonic Heroes
>Mana Khemia
>Yugioh the Duelists of the Roses
>Fullmetal alchemist and the Broken Angel
>Dance Dance Revolution (even though I can't use the Dance pad)

3 & 6 for the book asks!
3: what were your top five books of the year?
FABULOUS QUESTION. i will try to keep this brief.
in the dream house: in the late spring i thought to myself, damn, i haven't read any real bangers yet. and then i read this and from the first chapter i went ah, fuck, here's a real banger. i am not normally a memoir reader, but the way this book is written - and i don't just mean the stylistic choice of the author describing her past self in the second person - made it just impossible not to read. there is a section that i think about all the time, all the time. book of the year. book of every year.
the mysterious case of the alperton angels: alperton angels!!! do you enjoy mysteries. do you enjoy epistolaries and found documents. do you enjoy cults. do you enjoy protagonists who do not like each other. read the mysterious case of the alperton angels and then come talk to me about it asap
the great gatsby: damn what is there to say that hasn't been said. it's the great freaking gatsby. it was my favorite in high school and i revisited it and it's still good as fuck now.
fullmetal alchemist: i discovered my library had about three-quarters of fma and went oh hell yeah. i read it when i was in middle school, old enough that it Altered Me but long enough ago that i had forgotten some of the Themes and my fucking GOD there are themes. it is appalling how good fma is.
cue the sun: i love reality tv!! i love it!!! and books about reality tv are so often difficult to read because they either try to treat it like pure social commentary or like trash that we're trying to elevate. what i really enjoyed about this book is that it's good at walking the line, which is to say acknowledging that sometimes reality tv is social commentary and sometimes it is just trash, but most of the time it's reality tv. it's a history of the development, starting with unscripted radio shows in the 40s and going up through the 2010s, and i found it to be really thoughtful and funny and an all around good time.
little rot: i know this makes six but it's not like i could leave this book off. i figured out the ending about halfway through and spent the whole time squirming as it built up. this book made me feel physically ill and i mean that as the highest compliment. check the content warnings just in case, and then read the fuck out of it.
6: was there anything you meant to read but never got to?
oh so much stuff!! my goal for the year was that if i bought a book this year i would read it; over the summer my life lightly imploded in a way that meant that i didn't hit that goal. however in addition to that i really wanted to read the broken earth trilogy and i only read half of the first book. i'd like to finish it before the year is out though!

I’ve recently wondered this, but how come Alys needed Aemond’s seed for her spell or magic to work? Is it similar to the concept of equivalent exchange in Alchemy? If you want to gain something you have to give up something.
I’m about to nerd out in anime so please bear with me 😬 But are you familiar with Fullmetal Alchemist?
It is said alchemists can’t just whip stuff up out of thin air - you have to provide something. For example, an episode depicted one of the protagonists (Al) fixing a broken radio using alchemy. At first glance, the radio looks good as new, not repaired - as in no nail mark, solder, etc. However, in reality, Al only “stretched” out the radio’s material to fix it.
I’m not sure if my analogy makes sense. But I think it’s similar to if you were spreading butter or jam and you missed a side/corner of the bread. Instead of getting more butter, you just “extended” spreading the butter better by taking some from spots where you initially spread it thicker to ensure all sides of the bread were coated. So you ended up with your bread all buttered but the butter layer is thinner.
I hope I made sense. But anyway, in ODAM, I think the same principle applies to Alys too. She can’t just create a spell willy nilly, it has to cost something - for some witches, casting spells took its toll on their appearance like those in Stardust, or when the mages used their magic, it taxes their energy like in The Witcher. The point is, you can’t just do magic and expect nothing will be taken from you. I expected blood like Cersei did with Maggy the Frog but is Aemond’s wish/desire too great that it required his seed? Also why should he have to lay with Alys?
Hope I don’t come across as petulant Haha I find myself thinking of possible angles so here I am 🤔
Tumblr media
Hello my love! Look at you being all analytical, you clever thing 😏
I’ve haven’t watched anime in so long oh my god they would cause me such emotional damage 😭 (angel beats and clannad, I’m looking at you) but I haven’t seen fullmetal alchemist!
So let’s get down to answers. I’d say my reasoning comes from more of a physics route; energy cannot be created or destroyed, only changed. Something cannot come from nothing, as you’ve said (points!), but the bigger the request, the more you’ve gotta give.
A bit of Aemond’s blood to prove Maera’s virtue isn’t a huge cost as it’s only finding out information. HOWEVER, a good amount of Maera’s family members needed to be wiped out for her to have no other contenders for inheritance of Morne (more to be revealed in an Aemond POV chapter later).
What has the power to do Aemond more harm, is of greater value to him and has the ability to create life, despite him wanting to take it away? Seed 👀 I can guarantee Alys did not need to lie with him to get this spell to work (again, to be explored later) however I think Alys probably knew once she’d done her bit, it was very likely she would be cast aside. She needed some insurance for herself, and a way to get her vision to come to life.
But then again, are her visions going to be right (going back to Alice Cullen)? Watch this space 🖤

Hey there, I was wondering if you knew of any systems that could facilitate a Fullmetal Alchemist-like Campaign!!! Thank you!!!
THEME: Fullmetal Alchemist
Hello there friend, here's what I've got for you today. (I've only seen a few episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist, but I have many friends who have seen much of the series!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Break!!, by Grey Wizard.
BREAK!!is a tabletop roleplaying game of exploration and adventure, whose setting and aesthetics are inspired by classic anime and SNES era video games. It’s a 470-page, full-colour book loaded with diagrams and infographics to make learning and playing the game as fast and fun as possible. It’s perfect for anime and JRPG fans looking to try out tabletop games for the first time.
As an adventurer, you will journey across shattered landscapes, encounter and interact with Outer World’s many unusual inhabitants, craft items, magic and mechanical, and create social bonds with the friends you meet along the way. Experience the wonder, humour, tragedy and triumph of adventuring!
Break!! has the potential to emanate the magic land of Fullmetal Alchemist, in a world broken and torn apart, with forgotten knowledge and treasures to discover - similar to Ed and Al’s quest for answers. When it comes to the compelling and complicated villains, the weight might fall more solidly on the shoulders of the Game Master, but your characters will be granted a number of powers that will rival Ed’s unique alchemical skills, even if they don’t replicate them.
Currently the Kickstarter is ramping up to release, but you can check out a sample document from the Kickstarter page!
A Power Without Rival, by TK Haughton.
Have you ever found yourself in a tense standoff with a powerful foe, and then thought to yourself: "You know what would make this better? If there were six more of these guys, each one stronger than the last."
A Power Without Rival is a one page RPG about generating numbered groups of powerful guys, ala The Seven Warlords of the Sea from One Piece, The Phantom Troupe from Hunter x Hunter, or the Seven Sins from Fullmetal Alchemist. Generate a group of guys, give them a purpose, figure out their powers and allegiances, then drop them into your RPG of choice.
Remember: you may have defeated me, but my friends won't lose so easily.
This is an add-on that you can use in other tabletop RPGS in order to create a group of villains that will challenge your adventuring party in meaningful and dramatic ways. If what you like about Fullmetal Alchemist is the constant challenges posed to push the protagonists to test their physical and emotional limits, then this might be a supplement worth looking into. All you need is a deck of cards and you are ready to go!
JACOB & ESAU by Justin Joyce.
JACOB is the runaway paladin of the Lord, destined to declare the end times. ESAU is the undead, beheaded twin that JACOB wears on their belt.  Together, the twins march into the wilderness to forge their own fates, and to make the world a better place.
They are pursued. By Angels. By Fiends. By God's Will. And by the Serpent Of Paradise borne out of exposure to God's pure, primordial creation.
JACOB&ESAU is a tabletop roleplaying game designed for 2 players and 1 GM. It is made using the MARKED&MADE rpg system, and began life as a hack of GUN&SLINGER that precedes the third party license.
This game can be played using only a standard deck of 52 playing cards.  This game is inspired by the biblical tale of Jacob & Esau, the equally biblical tale of Cain & Abel, and Fullmetal Alchemist.
The game that inspired this one - Gun&Slinger - uses rules similar to Go Fish and Blackjack, as well as a unique character sheet that carries special abilities, triggered by your use of cards. If you’re interested in stories of two closely-bound individuals on an epic quest, I’d recommend checking out both this game and the one that inspired it.

20 questions for fic writers
Tagged by @warlordfelwinter
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
9
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count?
131,214
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Hollow Knight, Deltarune, Toonkind DnD, and most recently The Owl House. I actually have a couple owl house longfics in the works right now but I haven't posted them yet because I want to actually finish them first before I start posting, or at least get the majority of them done. All of them feature my grimwalker ocs because of course they do.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Charmed, I'm Sure [Hollow Knight] - 647
Confrontations, Devastations, Revelations [Hollow Knight] - 609
Proceed [Deltarune] - 162
Toil, Wyrm! [Deltarune/Hollow Knight] - 129
Bound [Hollow Knight] - 99
5. Do you respond to comments?
Absolutely I do! I try to respond to all of them, even if mostly that's an "I'm glad you liked it!"
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
You know looking through my fics to figure this out I have come to the realization that a lot of my oneshots are angsty and a lot of my longfics are . . . not. Or at least that's not their whole purpose. None of my longfics have ended yet anyway so . . . Probably I'd go with either Bound or Sister . . . ? with the angstiest ending, as one is about the Hollow Knight succumbing to the infection and the other is about a vessel getting got by Nosk.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hough happiest ending . . . Well as I pointed out above my not-pure-angst fics tend to not be . . . finished yet. Either Charmed I'm Sure or Family Beyond a Broken Gateway (not yet posted) might eventually end up with the happiest endings I think. Maybe Paradoxical (also not yet posted)? I don't remember how that one ends tbh. Or if the ending was even figured out yet or not!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope! Everyone's been pretty nice actually.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nah, not my thing
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I LOVE crossovers but they're almost all roleplays with other people. I think the only one I've ever actually written by myself that I remember for sure is a crossover is uhhhhh The Phantom Thief Race on ffn. Please don't read it I wrote it when I was 15 and still learning how to write. It was a crossover between DN Angel and Detective Conan/Magic Kaito.
INCLUDING roleplay then the craziest one I've ever written is DEFINITELY one that I've never adapted into a fic that my friend and I just called "tardis fam rp" and it's. Hoo boy. The MAIN crossovers are doctor who/undertale with the main characters of the doctor and gaster, but we had the tardis jumping through whatever universes we hecking wanted and then eventually they made a portal that could allow them to continue going to any universes we hecking wanted and there are. So many oh boy.
Ones that immediately come to mind are gravity falls, fullmetal alchemist, how to train your dragon, supernatural-except-it-was-combined-with-gravity-falls (sam and dean are related to the pines iirc, sam's the kids' dad), uhhhhhhh wander over yonder MAYBE but that could have just been an au branch off the main rp, danny phantom I THINK but that also could have been some au branches- OH I found our pins on their interdimensional travels, awesome. So yeah danny phantom, deltarune, hollow knight, steven universe, toonkind dnd, marvel, detective conan, the greatest showman, bendy and the ink machine, uhhhh there definitely could have been more but that's all I can think of right now. It also included undertale aus like underswap and handplates. And was planned to have more crossovers, like little nightmares or dn angel, but we haven't continued the rp in quite a few years at this point. Muse petered off.
So YEAH that one was ALL over the place and it was a DELIGHT and also no one else is going to see it ever because the plot was such a mess and there's WAY too much to transcribe anyway.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No one has informed me of any.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't think so. Or at least no one's approached me for it.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
All of my rp adaptations are co-written! Obviously, since they're rp adaptations. But I have an owl house fic in the works, called Paradoxical, that's going to be co-written as well with @conundrumrespeculis
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I. Uh. Don't ship. So none?
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Myths, Fables, and Fairytales: A Compilation of Grimwalker Legends. I started it excited to write grimwalker legends but the grimwalker legends turned out to be more difficult than I thought to write 😔 I have multiple ideas but getting them out has been difficult.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Uhhhhhh I don't know. Character interactions? OH OH no I know I'm really good at writing internal character thoughts. This makes sense considering the vast majority of my writing experience comes through roleplay so both character interactions and character thoughts are The Main Feature of that.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Deeeefinitely background descriptions and exposition. Probably show don't tell, too, though I'd like to think I'm starting to get a little bit better at that.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I think it's fun! Usually if I do that I put the translation in the end notes of the fic. Though I don't really do it often. I want to put more spanish in my owl house fics but I need to look up what specifically luz and camila say when they speak spanish to themselves first so I know what kinds of places to put it in and what to have them say. Luckily I recently discovered that people have transcribed the episodes so I won't have to rely off what I hear and can see the words themselves.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Ohhh don't make me look back for my ffn account. It was probably The Phantom Thief Race tho, so I guess detective conan and dn angel both?
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Absolutely Charmed, I'm Sure. Quirrel WILL survive and he WILL become a companion charm so we can keep him with us at all times and we WILL have fun hanging out with him and convincing him to live again. I SWEAR I will get back to this fic at some point but the owl house has completely taken over my brain at the moment. I actually have multiple chapters mostly-written right now but finalizing them requires reading the entire fic back (making sure I'm not contradicting myself or writing things that already happened) and I haven't had the motivation to do that in a long time. The plan has been to return poking at it when I'm in recovery after top surgery but it turns out the wait times for top surgery is many many many months. Probably not gonna be till 2025 at the earliest.
Tagging:
@trifoliate-undergrowth, @conundrumrespeculis, @rukafais, any other fic-writing friends that I can't remember at the moment

Introducing 'Feats of Engineering' — Debut Album from Fantasy of a Broken Heart Out Sept 27
Tumblr media
Al Nardo and Bailey Wollowitz first met in 2017 at the now-closed Heck venue in Bushwick. They instantly connected over their love for The Flaming Lips and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Since then, they've sporadically lived and collaborated in Brooklyn and Los Angeles, and spent considerable time touring the U.S. as part of various bands like Sloppy Jane, Water From Your Eyes, and This is Lorelei. Their musical project, fantasy of a broken heart, took shape amidst these travels, emerging in cramped apartments and the backseats of cars, surrounded by fellow musicians. Initially, fantasy was merely a personal project for Al and Bailey, a means to chronicle the ups and downs of their lives and their interactions within the broad network of artists they were part of. When the global pause of 2020 occurred, the constant motion ceased. The duo settled in Al's hometown of Los Angeles, dedicating themselves to evolving fantasy into a full band. Reflecting on their journey, they drew upon their experiences to address life's uncertainties and to find clarity in their diverse viewpoints. Now, the duo is excited to announce their debut album, "Feats of Engineering," set for release on September 27th via Dots Per Inch. In conjunction with the announcement, Stereogum has spotlighted them as a Band to Watch, and they are releasing a new single, "UR HEART STOPS," accompanied by a video directed by Rachel Brown from Water From Your Eyes and thanks for coming. Listen to “Ur Heart Stops” below: Read the full article
