Just watched Mizumono again and god. The way Hannibal deals with betrayal makes perfect sense as a monster who never knew his capacity for love. Physical pain is what he knows. The pain of being betrayed by someone he loves is not something he could handle. Watching him lose control is insane. Will made him feel something he had never felt before and it moves him into action. He betrayed himself by not only trusting Will, but by pleading with Will. We can disappear now, tonight. He was so desperate to be with Will he would have done anything to make it happen. He would have forgiven him too. I think, in the end, he couldn’t bear the idea that he was in love with Will and it had all just been a ruse on Wills end. Except that it wasn’t. Except that Will loved him too.
