Soul Society does not understand diplomacy. They are 'supreme', absolute, greedy control freaks, and 'holders of balance' or that crap. They lack rivals and others group to keep them in line.

Many group/organizations/goverments in other shows/animes/series/movies like the Wizard World (both other coutries and families), Vongola, Amestris or even Konoha and Asoiaf has 'other factions' that aren't enemies. They cannot simply do whatever thay please. Soul Society would never let another Spiritual Faction exist outside their control (even if are peaceful doing nothing bad), they would refuse to be 'allies', would demand the other faction to bow or betray them. If they ever 'ally' with an group of another anime/show, they would demand them to be subordinades to Seireitei, obey everything they say and be killed once their usefulness run out. Arrogant at the point of foolishness.

Many 'crossovers' would end up with Soul Society getting in so much trouble because they refuse to talk to solve problem and follow laws and respect the local rulers and leaders, wrongly believing they have authority and jurisdiction over everything and everyone.

The Moral Myopia also. No loyality, no trust, no partnership, nothing. No one would ever want to help them or ally with them, they would try to 'arrest/execute' someone they think is 'different', Ichigo should have noped out of here fast.

Fix-Its with most fandons has politics and talking involved, Bleach ones are about destroying Seireitei cuz Soul Society are a Butch of Motherfuckers.

See Game of Throne for exemple, you have to be careful with no only your enemies, but your allies and subordinades too. Two of Robb Stark's greatest fuck ups are Rickard Karstark (subordinade Lord) and Freys (allies), the Lannisters too (Selmy, the Faith and Tyrion), also which decisions you make and how they affect the other groups (Ned Stark's execution was a reckless foolish action and even Tywin knows it), its so fucking easy to switch sides, your enemies may be more sensible and willing to listen to ours wishes, don't you think so?

This whole 'we have an common enemy' and 'you will help us or else' would never work on many characters like it did on Ichigo and his friends.

No one is going to obey/ally with you if they get nothing in turn/are treated badly/you attempt to make them subordinades instead of allies or something similar. Their attitude towards the Vizards, Bounts, Humans in general or anyone powerful and outside their control tell us an lot. In an crossover, they would attempt to kidnap, interrogate, steal, experiment and murder innocent people with no reason whatsover or commit fucking genocide against societies they consider threats. They did nothing to deserve loyality, refusing to help those who sacrificed so much for them, declaring they own people traitors out of blue (Rukia, Hitsugaya in Diamond Rebellion, fucking Orihime when she got kidnapped) and threatening Ichigo and his friends's often. (Poor Uryu)

I also kinda love the idea where the Hero (an minor, a fucking kid) that has his whole life planned for him to involve himself in an secret world and fight wars that are not his, to put his friend and family in danger for an butch of ungratefull assholes and there is an crossover where said Hero meets people from another Fandom and when the plot starts, he looks the group that wants him to fight for them (and he knows them for like...an hour) dead in the eyes and is like 'lol, nope fuckers, #notmywar, I have better shit to do'.

Its also easier to deal with them. A centralized power that have charisma of lettuce juice (Rukongai would turn against them if given chance), the 'smallfolk' of Soul Society hate then and the Shinigami didn't even try to make some propaganda (like nobles in medieval era giving the rest of the food from feasts so when a rebellion hist, the people would be more willing to hid/help them). Horizontal leadership is more difficult to deal with, independant factions even more.

So yeah, villains like Konoha or Amestris would be far more diffucult to deal with

i'm kind of late to this but i just finished reading the scholomance trilogy by naomi novik and i feel like it is such an underrated urban fantasy?? taking the chosen one trope and turning it on its head with a fmc who has been prophesied to bring death and destruction, who is imbued with terrible power, but cannot even properly use said power to solve any of her obstacles because it would obliterate them and her soul. it takes a tired trope and the idea of an 'overpowered mary sue' and throws it back in your face by showing how all the power and destiny in the world is useless against a system filled with corruption that has burdened you with an easy way out (evil/destructive magic) that you can't take so now you have to work twice as hard as everyone else just to do simple, constructive spells instead of flicking your wrist and being done with it.

ok this is my take on the devoured

so I did a little table of the affinity between some devoured and the four elements and/or the four tendencies

4 is reserved for the element you got devoured by 3 is for elements with a strong connection 2 is for elements with an okay connection 1 is for elements with little connection

then I made a graph (Raven's not on it because I wanted one of each element. My regards to the Rajavi Family)

then I found the area of the graph and split it into 3 groups Elemental Devoured - affinity with 1 element Dual Devoured - affinity with 2 elements Learned Devoured - affinity with 3 elements (there's no "affinity with 4 elements" because you need to forgo one element to be devoured by it's opposite)

then I made 16 categories (4 Elemental Devoureds, 8 Dual Devoureds, 4 Learned Devoureds) and a vague description for what they all look like. There are only 8 Dual Devoureds because of the opposing elements thing.

Elemental Devoureds are kinda like a cross between humans and elementals. They don't have corporeal desires (eating, sleeping, drinking) nor do they die like humans, but they feel and act the way humans would. Many choose not to abandon (magical) society and stay involved in the community. Several still fuck off to the forest tho.

Dual Devoureds live up to the rep a bit more. They predominantly abandon society unless kept against their will, or they want to stay around humans they have a particular connection to (think close family or friends). They can act close to fey-like creatures, and are the source of some folktales in the non-magical world.

Learned Devoureds are literally just creatures, man. They live in particular habitats, they let go of almost all their human memories, all of it. They are extremely territorial, but will just about leave you alone if you leave them alone. Much like elementals, they are weak to their opposing element. Unlike other Devoureds, they are really fucking big. Like, "eyes the size of coconuts" kinda big.

Most Devoureds are permeable, but the Earth ones aren't. The Mud and Magma Devoureds technically are, but you have to try really fucking hard, man (and, like, beware of getting burnt).

the difference between bleach and a lot of 90s/2000s shounen is that it had elements of truly excellent, subtle writing and compelling female characters who had interesting relationships between one another, which is what makes its downfall into the worlds most boring typical battle shounen that much more of a tragedy

she has known kisuke for more years of her life than she hadn't.

hell, yoruichi can't even remember how they'd exactly met. she just knows there’s a part of her life that was pretty dull and boring, and then suddenly he's all over her memories. her life. her home. even her fucking division once they both became shinigami.

she has loved kisuke for more years of her life than she hadn't.

she can't quite remember when it started. once she realised, the feeling was already there, deep rooted in her heart, stubborn and excentric like the man himself.

not that she minded, though. kisuke was the one true friend she knew she could really count on. so one day, during their younger years, when she felt a strange warmth spread on her chest as they trained together in their secluded little place, she just knew. yoruichi knew she loved him, and admitting it felt as natural as breathing.

she didn't really know what loving someone meant, back in the day. they were both so young - children, basically. not even older than rukia kuchiki when she met ichigo kurosaki. but she knew. and by the way kisuke always smiled at her, ready to drop every and anything for her at her word, she knew he loved her too, just as much.

firstly, she thought it was sibling love. it makes sense, right? they've known each other for more life times than they can count, so it's only right that they love each other like brother and sister.

but as the years pass, this conclusion just feels... wrong. so maybe it's family love? it sure as hell makes more sense now that they are older. specially after a particularly intense training session, kisuke's naked body dipped in the thermals drawing her eyes like a candle draws moths to its light. and as a woman used to get everything she wants, she can't resist her urges.

(and in that moment, seeing kisuke all wet, breathless and panting, she wanted him more than she needed to breathe.)

but family love proved to be wrong too once she met soi fon, all sweet and flustered and the baby sister she'd always wanted.

not that it bothers her, not having an answer. after all these years, all those lifetimes, kisuke would still drop anything at hand if she merely batted an eye at it. and having him on top of her (and more often than not, the other way around), having his partnership, trust and love was more than enough for her.

she sometimes wondered if they loved each other as husband and wife. they obviously loved one another as man and woman, if their little private sessions post training were anything to go by. on occasion, they'd look - even felt like - an old married couple. the banter, the inside jokes. the way only she knew how to deal with his laid back nature and how only he could really push her buttons.

but... it also didn't quite feel like marriage. she wasn't selfish, or jealous. she didn't want him all to herself, even though she knew she had him like that (and as much as yoruichi hated to admit it, kisuke also had her all to himself. he just didn't need to know that). they could see other people, they didn't mind. they were always back to each other at the end of the day.

yoruichi wondered, more often than not, about the true nature of the relationship she had with the man she can't imagine her life without. what she never had any doubts about is that she'll never love anyone like this. not this much. not quite like she loved kisuke.

i think an incredibly funny part of the aiichi dynamic is that at least one of them has to be traumatized and/or possess incredible worldly exhaustion in order to even consider the other as a romantic love interest
