Another post about how sad the Lord Tensen make me cause i can't shut up about them (i apologise it will happen again)
The only solace the Lord Tensen can find is in death, unfortunately they're mostly immortal there aren't many people who can kill them, i can imagine how relieved Mu Dan must 've been to be faced with it, a concept they must've given up on as a sort of fantasy, a dream to help them sleep better at night.
And how in their dying moments they still thought of Rien, of wanting to show Rien what they found, because all the rest of the Tensen wanted was Rien's validation, they chased it through life and thought about it in death and the thought of that same Rien thinking about them as nothing but means to an end upsets me.

oh good news for those of us who only saw the english version of the french union call for testimony, or who don't speak french:
when in english they said quackity "half-heartedly" acknowledged things, in the french version the word they used was "demi-mot". having consulted a few dictionaries i THINK it's not a direct translation or at least not a wholly accurate one. from what i'm seeing, "reconnaître à demi-mot" roughly means "to admit indirectly". translation of "demi-mot" directly seems to be something like "implicitly" or "without spelling things out".
i've linked the sources where i found the translations for any english speakers who want to double check and please, any native french speaker who disagrees PLEASE tell me if you have a different translation than was provided, or have insight on the connotation!!
"half-heartedly" implies a lack of personal or emotional investment which i think got a lot of us on the defensive (certainly raised my eyebrow) but i think that's just an imperfect translation. from what i'm seeing, 'demi-mot' doesn't have those same connotations.
(incidentally, putting 'reconnaître à demi-mot' into google translate does produce 'to acknowledge half-heartedly'; no shade, to be clear, considering they're a FRENCH union i wouldn't blame them if they had to use online translation tools, and 'demi-mot' is hard to translate, at least for me)
both english and french versions of the call are linked in this post
ADDITION FROM THE REPLIES:
@selemina : "French speaker here, you are very right! In this context, it could mean "he recognized, without saying so explicitly [...]". Or it is a notion of not enough being said on a subject. There is a layer of secrecy to something said 'à demi-mot', which often implies dishonesty. Applied to this context, I think the union is suspicious of Quackity's latest declaration (probably from seeing many dishonest people in charge before) but still reporting the facts." (THANK YOU!!)

why were they doing duels in court in chapter 4. is it a actual normalized thing for their world or saint pavlov just makes the defendant and the prosecution throw hands to see who comes out the victor. do they do it for every corruption case. can we watch madam z wrestle then dump a mug full of hot coffee on constantine's face godot ace attorney style for the whole breakout incident and for multiple instances of child murders

The reason i really hate Rien is because there was no justifiable reason, good or otherwise for what they did. I didn't feel bad for her when Shugen destroyed her husband's sarcophagus because frankly, to me, she didn't deserve sympathy and I'm surprised Gabi could milk some out for her.
Her husband wasn't taken away from her early, he wasn't murdered and he didn't succumb to illness, he grew old and died like a normal human being, they had spent years together and yet because she had tapped into a form of permanent youth, she couldn't let him go and it made her ruin lives.
She could've had a family in Mei and the Lord Tensen, a family that would've supported and loved her properly through her grief but no she exiles Mei cause she doesnt agree with her and uses the Lord Tensen as tools to achieve her own ends.
I remember reading the final chapters and thinking "so you did all this for what? You created monsters for what?" Because the why? didn't make any sense to me whatsoever.
Now im not blaming her for feeling grief, its natural and its a very strong, powerful emotion but how she dealt with it is something i can never forgive her for.

what if i just. write fanfic that's just fake photosets with new banter that i wrote where the veilguard companions are rude weirdos with incredibly strong opinions, heaps of brain problems, and, like...... maladaptive coping skills
like. i keep thinking about da2 and how much veilguard almost reminds me of it, almost went that direction more, almost..... i can almost taste the better game that's on a cutting room floor somewhere and i would like to share the flavour

🎬 Rien à foutre (Zero Fucks Given), 2021
