Tonight, a judge ruled that a drug that’s safely ended pregnancies for over twenty years should no longer be available—not just in anti-abortion states, but everywhere. We knew the ruling was coming, just as we did when Roe was overturned. As was the case then, foreknowledge doesn’t make the moment any easier.
There’s no real way to prepare for the feeling of despair that rises in your body as you’re reminded, once again, that you’re no longer a full citizen in your own country.

What the everloving fuck?
“'Remote dispensing of abortion drugs by mail, common carrier, and interactive computer service is depressing expected birth rates for teenaged mothers in Plaintiff States,' the attorneys allege in the complaint, which was filed before forced birth enthusiast Judge Matt Kacsmaryk in the Northern District of Texas’s Amarillo Division. They claim that decreased births constitute '“'a sovereign injury to the state in itself,” and causes downstream injuries like “losing a seat in Congress or qualifying for less federal funding if their populations are reduced.' In other words, uteri are state slush funds, and girls owe the state reproduction once they are capable of it." Also known as farming teenage girls.

Overturning Roe vs Wade was clearly never about returning it to the states. It was always a step towards banning abortion entirely. And it's frankly both absurd and infuriating that such vital healthcare can be thrown into chaos for everyone. All because the badly reasoned decisions of this fucking guy [Matthew Kacsmaryk]. It seems like abortion has become a Schrödinger's right in this country. That people simultaneously do and don't have depending on where they live, who's in the white house and what the shittiest judge in America feels like doing. That's why it's so important for it to be protected by law. Ideally in the constitution and for it to be recognized what it is: a basic right, a human necessity and I hear, I got this for a completely reputable website, makes you better at frisbee golf.

“The case has virtually no scientific merit, and challenging the use of a drug that has been studied and safely used for over two decades is highly unusual. Most Americans also believe medication abortion should be accessible. A new poll released in early March found majorities of Americans — including majorities of Democrats and independents — support keeping medication abortion legal and allowing women to use it at home to end an early-stage pregnancy. Another recent survey found 59 percent of voters disapprove of overturning the FDA’s approval of abortion medication, including 72 percent of Democrats, 65 percent of Independents, and 40 percent of Republicans.
“But legal experts concede these are legally unpredictable times given the politicization of the courts. The federal lawsuit was intentionally filed in Amarillo, Texas, so that Kacsmaryk, a conservative judge, would hear the case. Kacsmaryk was appointed by Donald Trump and is a former Christian activist who has denounced the sexual revolution of the 1960s and ’70s.”
Great job, Stein voters. You sure showed how “Shillary’s” abortion scare tactics were hollow, and how women had nothing to worry about under a Trump presidency. Truly brilliant thinking, you fucking doofuses.

Like, I know we all know that right wingers lie all the time and every accusation is a confession and all that, but sometimes I still get so fucking pissed off by how blatantly full of shit they are.
“The now-former Representative George Santos’ actions were not only unbecoming of a member of Congress, but the facts reported by the ethics committee point to numerous violations of House rules and federal law, rendering him unfit to serve in this distinguished institution,” - Representative Ron Estes (R-Kansas)
"This [Donald Trump] indictment news from New York is absolutely unprecedented and appears to be about politics, not justice. The House has already started investigating Democrat DA Alvin Bragg to look into this potential abuse of his office against political opponents." - Representative Ron Estes (R-Kansas)
I am absolutely no fan of George Santos, but it is super interesting that he is the single republican who is to be held accountable for the bullshit so many of them pull.
And, just, I know railing against their bullshit doesn't change anything, but FUUUUUCK. It's so enraging.
Talking shit about "activist judges" and then doing obvious judge shopping:
The state of Texas joined the lawsuit under the direction of Attorney General Ken Paxton in 2022. The case was filed in Amarillo, an area without a Planned Parenthood facility – a jurisdiction that might seem an unlikely choice. There’s one good explanation, however: All cases filed there are heard by U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk. The Trump-appointed judge made headlines in early 2023 when he suspended the approval of a common abortion-inducing pill. Kascmaryk’s anti-abortion history on the bench makes him a strategic choice to rule on the case against Planned Parenthood.
Hell, my own mom told me she couldn't bring herself to vote for her neighbor for city council because he ran as a Dem. She knows this man. Likes this man. But because he's a Dem, she just left the question blank. She is the only person who would have known if she voted for him, and she still couldn't do it.
Blergh.

Leonard Leo’s Federalist Society has packed the courts full of far-right judges who will block all things good on bullshit grounds (see: Matthew Kacsmaryk and birth control; the Supreme Court overturning student loan forgiveness because “originalism”).
“Stop telling me to vote, it does nothing” bitch, right wingers spent *50 years* participating in elections and now it’s harder to vote, the judiciary is packed, and your school board has an extremist slate on the ballot. We wouldn’t be here if you had a decent civics education, so maybe read a fucking book and then show up every 2 years instead of acting all entitled online. Participation can and has defeated billionaire dollars before.
Some of you really need to learn the difference between "Biden went against his campaign promise" and "The republicans obstructed Biden from delivering this campaign promise" because it's getting really tiring hearing the republicans play your dumb asses like a fiddle at their KKK meetings

(via Judge Who Could Ban Abortion Pill Doesn't Want the Public to Know When the Hearing Is)
On Friday, federal Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk held a conference call with the lawyers involved in the case that could result in a national ban of the abortion drug mifepristone. He wanted to talk about the hearing that’s taking place this Wednesday in Amarillo, Texas, that may well end in him immediately banning the pill. Specifically, Kacsmaryk said he wanted to keep the hearing off the online public docket as long as possible “to try to minimize disruptions and possible protests,” the Washington Post reported, because “courthouse members have received threats in the wake of the lawsuit.”
he wants to make sure he can fuck over US women in the dark - without being so exposed...
Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk - you’re gonna hear more about this “judge”
