Chevron did not provide samples to the EPA for testing. This risk report is based on best-case and worst-case chemical analogs, which may or may not be the compound in question. The EPA report is based on best guesses.

And the best guess says:

That's from the (heavily redacted) EPA report. The 'case' column on the left is the compounds similar to the ones that make up the fuel. Notice how almost all of them pose health risks to anyone who eats a contaminated fish. See how most of them will be present in drinking water. The reason infants have a higher expectation of being affected is because the compounds cause neurodevelopmental effects and because their organs aren't developed enough to protect themselves the way adult organs are.

The fuel compounds are carcinogenic (cancer-causing) and teratogenic (birth-defect-causing, high rate of stillbirth and miscarriage). In the rest of the report, its made clear that these fuels can affect you if you inhale them - which means that anybody who lives, works, or regularly spends time in areas where this fuel is used will be affected.

This is terrifying.

If you have a basic grasp on chemistry, please read the report. Understand why this fuel is terrible so you can spread the word.

Horrible fact of the day: Chevron just released a new boat fuel that WILL give you cancer.

Not "might", not "could", WILL. It has a cancer ratio of 1:1, as in, in a group of 10 people, ALL 10 would contract CANCER.

The EPA's safety limit is 1:1,000,000 as in 1 in a million people get cancer.

The EPA approved it anyways. I am not joking. The EPA approved a boat fuel that has a near 100% chance of giving someone cancer. It has such a good chance of giving someone cancer that if you DIDN'T get cancer YOU WOULD BE AN OUTLIER.

Fuck the oil industries.
