My bad with the wording; the doodles I was referring to are the chapter 46 and 48 bonus sketches and the concept art from the art book and mystic code book that have been out for a while.

The chapter 48 one shows her eating a whole chicken in one bite. The chapter 46 one isn't quite as noticeable, but it's a convenient visual divide between what could easily pass as human on quick glance—the angle purposely obscuring the sixth finger on hand with how they're posed—and her feet, which is what tips Ray off in chapter 45/46 that Mujika is a demon in the dark cave Sonju constructed since she was taking great care to hide her hands from him and Emma. The angle we see them at in the water further distorts their appearance, making them look even more alien, and I think it's an interesting way for Demizu to illustrate that mental divide the Grace Field children have of her at this point to an audience experiencing the series through the volume releases. She's a demon, yes, but she's not in the same category as the one they were chased by earlier or the ones they envisioned prior to escaping in their minds, and the easiest physical reminder of that is separated from her in their minds.

This is something I've mentioned before on this post about some of my gripes with the series and how there's something to be said about the anthropocentric idea of humans being the pinnacle of intelligence demons strive to maintain and the organisms they desire to physically mimic (albeit at a larger scale and not exactly one-to-one), but it's something that I can accept given the target demographic of the series, this not being a series-original sin, and most importantly, the parasitic symbolism of those in the upper echelons of a hierarchical society needing someone beneath them in order to maintain their material comforts and define their sense of self and worth in relation to the world around them to avoid cognitive dissonance and doxastic anxiety.

The mystic code book shows her and Sonju looking even more human like a lot of other early demon designs, though there's one sketch of her barring her fangs.

Day ruined

Okay guys I think I should quit the fandom and in generally never create any interpretation ever again. I wrote her like two years ago in summer 2021, my version of Izzy, an obscure character from Bloodborne:

- Has motivation of 'if everyone is a beast, then no one is a beast' in the end

- Defends people like Suspicious Beggar who legit has beasthood genetically (Loran) and it wasn't their own fault

- As result, culturally appropriates tries to self-inflict beastial features of Loran kin upon herself

- Curses Yamamura's whole village

- Has long brown hair and slashing scar on her face that wounded one of her eyes

- Is one of the people against the corrupt order that governs her world (in BB that's Moon's vicious cycle of ascension vs hunt that I keep rambling about, and its simps Laurence, Ludwig and Gehrman)

I've been FUCKING writing a waifu version of Dung Eater THIS WHOLE FUCKING TIME.

I QUIT.

Modding

A couple of casual outfits for Ros, using wing's shoes and cubfan's jeans recolors (skinny bitch has her own tight jeans mesh). Shirt on the left is an existing variant of Wakako's that I really liked; right is Denny's that I'm recoloring for her.

Working on importing a jacket for fem V (yeah okay, it's really for Ros). I'm tweaking the mesh now so it works with Veegee's suit, then it's onto normals and textures

Writing

I've had a couple of drabbles that morphed into ideas for photoshoots, which in turn expanded into full scenes I started writing. This is one such drabble-turned-scene because of the pic below. Kinda long so putting most after the cut.

“Do you know what you’re asking of me?” Her brow furrows as she pauses to look at V, as if considering something for the first time. “Of yourself?”

Anxiety flooding her chest, V feels the familiar urge to jump ship at the first sign of trouble and wants to let go, to retreat; but Rosalind squeezes her fingers and holds her gaze, her eyes serious yet soft, keeps her grounded, and V lets out a long breath.

“Maybe not, but be a gonk move to let you leave ’thout saying something, wouldn’t it?”

“Constantly surrounded by Secret Service. Say goodbye to any privacy once media and screamsheets find out, not to mention all the fanatics and anti-government zealots.” 

Rosalind looks at their hands while V wonders what to say. She’d thought about media and screamsheets but hadn’t considered the constant need for security. What would the logistics even look like for dating a sitting President? Maybe this is the gonk move.

“Then there’s the job.” Rosalind meets her eyes again, brow furrowed and lips tugged downward. “The country is first, always. I am always the President.”

That she had expected, and she chuckles softly. “Of course. Look, know what your priorities are, never gonna change. The rest?” She shrugs. “Deal with it as it comes.” 

The flirting earlier today and during dinner bolstered her confidence, but now it deflates under the penetrating stare that has laid waste to politicians, generals, and corpos alike, and she looks away.

“Alright, V,” she says at last. Trying not to betray the surprise she feels, V looks up to find her watching with a soft smile. “Let’s see where this ride goes.”

She feels light enough to explode and she leans forward, kissing her hard.

“And the bedroom?” she asks with a grin when she pulls away.

“That’s up to the FSS,” Rosalind answers with a smirk. Frowning, V tries to decipher the answer while Rosalind's eyes light up as she receives a call, and the smirk grows wider as she listens. “Yes? Thank you.” The light disappears as the call cuts off. “They just gave the green light.”

The frown deepens as she finally gets it. “Wait, you swept my apartment?”

“Of course. I warned you about the Secret Service. Did you think they’d let me wander off to an apartment in Heywood without inspecting it, as well as ensuring a private entrance?”

V scoffs. “You had them sweeping it before I asked you to spend the night.” Rosalind’s eyes crinkle and she purses her lips in a vain attempt at holding back the ever-growing smirk, but it only exaggerates it further. “Planning on spending the night all along.”

Rosalind shrugs, the smirk replaced by an elegant smile, but her eyes remain warm and crinkled. “What can I say? I’m a politician; I like to keep my options open.”

Chapter 36 of Serpents, Thunder & Infinity, the fifth book in the Flowers, Sounds & Stones series I’ve been writing for the past 3 years and 5~ days will be the end of the main story. Chapter 37 will be an epilogue. That’s it.

If I have the time, I may write the spin-off one shot series I talked about a few months ago, but that’s becoming unlikely as my schedule recently became very busy. I’m trying not to be too emotional about this, but as this has genuinely been the longest project I’ve ever attempted, I cannot believe how much love and support y’all readers have been sending my way

If you’re an avid reader, you know I reply to Every Single Comment I get, ever. I mean it when I say every comment will be read and loved by me at the end of every story and update. Just because the story is ending does not mean that I won’t keep answering questions and comments about the series. Who knows, if my schedule frees up anytime soon, maybe I actually will write Swords, Masks & Canes or the Wind & Insect Chronicles or the Shabana Family history as a few people have asked for. But that’s all speculation for now and I don’t want to make this too long

This is one of the best places to get a good overview, but even they never finished the story synopsis. I didn't think I am going to be trying myself, sorry. I recommend rereading the time lines at the end of the volumes, that helps figure out where in the story that volume takes place.

when i was reading up on the l-gaim/five star stories History before we started l-gaim it made me so curious about what mamoru nagano could possibly have meant about writing fss to assuage his own dissatisfaction with l-gaim, b/c My impression of five star stories (from the movie alone, with no prior knowledge of l-gaim’s plot) was mostly just that it was narratively extremely dodgy and intensely misogynistic lol. but absolutely none of the possibilities I considered prepared me for the progressive realization while watching l-gaim that five star stories’s raison-d’être all along was JUST ‘the fascist god-emperor from l-gaim is actually in the right because I think it’s really cool how he uses and manipulates women. He should get to do that more’. Like literally the exact same character with the same lore and design but he’s The Hero instead…
