Hi🥰. I have this tpn theory for months now, so I would like to know what you think about it 🥰.
Could be 'Him' (Demon God) be a member of the Evil blood clan?
I was flicking through the pages of the Artbook because of the BTAD Zine and found these two pages next to each other.

This could be just a lucky placing of course, but I began to think. Mujika's and the One's design looks similar (or maybe I just overthink it lol)
But what if the royal demons made up the tradition of Tifari to get themselves more food?
They do look pretty similar with their horn placements! Though the demon god's always remain larger in proportion to his mask whereas hers are more dainty.
(Chapter 181 | 158 | 49 | 176 | 140)
They also have similar body shapes when he's in his preferred smaller child form.
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 5)
And while not directly related as parent and child, there's the aesthetics of having a singular god (even dubbed "The One" when they had to decide on a name when adapting the anime) and Mujika acting as a fairly solid parallel to Jesus. (Kei Toda gets into this more in her book, Reading The Promised Neverland with a British/American Literature Scholar, which can be found here.)
Shirai doesn't have any interest in divulging the demon god's origins prior to the original promise, so all we have to go on is this:
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 6 Q&A)
With another parallel of both being shunned due to being considered a threat to the greater social order of the demon world.
I'm of a similar mind to Shirai in that I don't think it's necessary to have a concrete origin for the demon god beyond his role as a profoundly powerful entity in the narrative that the demon aristocracy use as a means to justify their rule over the general populace. This extends to the arbitrary creation of Tifari, though why it falls on/around November 10th of the Gregorian calendar (introduced in 1582, roughly 500 years after the original promise, though the Julian calendar it modified was around since 45 BC) could have been due to other demon world customs or historical events besides it being the time of year the original promise was made. But if you wanted to expand upon these origins in a fanfic, all the more power to you.
But what if the royal demons made up the tradition of Tifari to get themselves more food?
They sort of did, depending on what you mean by get more.
(Chapter 142)
Again, Tifari is arbitrary in that the demon god doesn't actually need the highest grade meat for sustenance. He evolved beyond that centuries before the demon nobility find out about the evil blood. He just wants it because he knows it's what the demon king and later Legravalima covet the most, and under the monarchy they've established they'd normally be the ones receiving the best meat (by their metrics).
It's possible more offerings than what we see at the 2047 Tifari were demanded in the past and that surplus was siphoned off by the upper echelons.

(Chapter 146)
But for simplicity's sake, it's probably been the three highest grade since the beginning for how it mirrors the significance paid to the full score trio being the first time in Grace Field's recorded history there's ever been three children of that caliber at a house at the same time.

(Chapter 1 | 76 | 80 | 152 | 156 | 159)
There's also the three marks on the demon god's mask to keep the trinity/trio visuals going.
(Chapter 142)
So it didn't get them more food in the sense of increasing the amount of meat they hoarded for themselves. Like we see 700 years prior when the demon world was experiencing a famine, they would have finagled some reasoning for why they should have more to maintain their level of comfort and security.

(Chapter 147)
It did, however, continue to justify why they received the larger share of high quality meat. By ensconcing Tifari as a tradition and holding festivities for it every year to ostensibly appease The One that all the citizenry participates in, it legitimatizes their claim to rule and the system by which they maintain their authority, so it did get them more food in the sense of maintaining uncontested access as opposed to the citizens staging a mass uprising across the kingdom.

For better or worse, we can narrow it down to them dying in the beginning or middle of October, so we know they didn't die on his actual birthday.
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 7 - Series Timeline)
Assuming Norman arranging the conference with Geelan traveling to and from their base all takes place over the course of a minimum of two days from October 30-31, that means that the latest they died is October 18, and the latest the group can begin their ten-day journey to the paradise hideout is October 19.
Mangacaps below the cut:

(Chapter 110; either still the same night Lucas and Yuugo die or the very early morning hours of the next day, assuming Andrew wouldn't live longer than a day with the injuries he sustained.)

(Chapter 112; still in the early morning hours when Ray shoots down the mechanical owl that was tracking them.)

(Chapter 113; a sunrise to official start the next day when they begin the ten-day journey)

(Chapter 114; the timestamps we're given of their journey before the group meets Hayato and Jin)

(Chapter 118; Zazie showing up on the night of the eighth day to escort the group to the paradise hideout, which they reach roughly two days later)

(Chapter 122 | Chapter 125; Norman arranges the conference with Geelan via letter, presumably delivered by owl since the first and last time they meet, Geelan told him to come alone with one subordinate himself, and Geelan mentions it's a long journey that Norman and Zazie are taking on foot.)

Legravalima: Hogwarts AU
Legravalima was a Pureblood (vampire) witch that was born on the 14th of January 1419 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1430, being sorted into Slytherin House.
She had a Blackthorn wand with a Dragon Heartstring core.
Her Patronus was non-corporeal.
Her favorite subject was Potions and her least favorite subject was Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Legravalima was a level-headed and self-centered woman who was terribly respected; as soon as she entered the room on her estate, all the heads of the Five Regent Families bowed down to her. She had nerves of steel, as she barely reacted at all to Geelan's surprise attack on the underground city or as more and more of the noble families get massacred by his army sneering to "not make her laugh". Despite her status as the Vampire Queen, Legravalima was more than happy to fight against those who disobey her.
Legravalima was a greedy vampire who valued status and wealth over the well-being of her people. She favored herself and her Family to live a good life, while expressing that she had no problem in starving and eventually kill the lower-class vampires, as that would solve their population problem. Since Mujika and her family was a threat to this society, Legravalima got rid of everyone except Mujika.
Legravlima possessed a superiority complex and was very power-hungry. It is said that she because she had pure blood, she wanted to become the most beautiful and strongest of all, which is why she craved the best meat, despite it being known that the vampire king always received the best meat during the offerings. She also cast her father and siblings away, since she so desperately wanted to reign everything herself. One thing she did not have was the perfect human meat, and as so, Legravlima spent much time to be able to devour Norman. In connection to this, Legravalima is defined by her constant hunger. Despite being at the top of the vampire hierarchy, and therefore able to eat more and better meat than anyone else, she is never satisfied.

182 Days of TPN - Day 125
Chapter 125: "Alliance of Liars"
The level of confidence Norman has in order to pull off the WM facade in front of these menacing demons is crazy. He seems so unbothered by them all too, like they could rip him apart so easily yet he remains completely chill. I guess he has a lot of faith in Zazie to protect him, alongside the upcoming deal.
I bet people can call him a snack and he wouldn't care for it either.
The fact the demons went out of their way to get a chair suitable for a human to use will never not be funny to me.
I'll be honest, I don't really pay much attention to the demon heavy chapters, even if this one includes Norman, so I forgot about the whole "making Geelan king" idea, but makes sense if they're planning to take over the capital anyways. I'm all for the payback towards the Ratri clan though. Fuck 'em.
Our boy certainly knows how to be convincing, playing the best mind games to ensure that this alliance results in a success.
Pfftt why must he say such things with that kind of smile on his face?
Summoning jutsu.
What a little chess-master. Isabella would be proud.
At least they're not completely stupid. Sure Norman looks like a grown man compared to the other children, but with how old James should be by this point, he does appear far too young.
Favorite panel/moment:
Who knew this precious lad could be so intimidating. I suppose you pick up on some things after dealing with Isabella and all these demons long enough.

#I find the comparison to the Adam and Eve story quite interesting #I also find it interesting that they evolved into human-like creatures before the food they ate started changing them #I wonder if it has something to do with the demons greed #perhaps they all had blood like Mujika but them eating whatever made them lose it after a few generations?? #maybe that's why they changed their God system it started worshiping him instead of the gods Mujika and Sonju worship bc they felt forsaken #also them murdering those who still had the special blood for vaguely religious reasons kinda like our history ? #idk just some thoughts (via @silentstudiosyt)
Based on the mystic code book Q&A from earlier, it sounds like the push to the new faith was almost entirely manufactured for the convenience of the demon nobility in order to maintain the social stratification of demon society rather than genuine widespread doubt in the original faith.
(Chapter 142)
And the demon god goes along with it because, as Emma notes, he's a whimsical/capricious one due to his longevity.
I frequently forget this due to it not being openly discussed in the text, but compare the village the Seven Walls search party walks through in chapter 103

to what we see the demon nobility use to travel to the imperial capital in chapter 140
The Bayon clan traverses by what looks like a steam locomotive while the Noum clan has…one that hovers or flies? Or it's a demon that looks conveniently shaped like one.
While we don't know if to work at one of the farms the demon staff have to relocate their entire families
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 7 Q&A)
There is some prestige attached to it, even at the mass production farm level. It seems like outside of the farms and nobles' estates, technological advancements have purposely been withheld from the general demon population into the 2040s as another means of controlling them. If you're too busy just trying to survive, there's less chance of a revolt and upending the status quo.
With how Norman explains it in chapter 120, the demons were evolving based on what they ate since early on in their existence as a species

before eventually stumbling across humans.

Prior to the promise being forged, they theoretically had unrestricted access to humans, so to tie into the framing of Mujika as a unique messianic figure and human intelligence as the pinnacle for demons to acquire and maintain, their degeneration/warped appearance is predominantly treated as the fault of the demon nobility's draconian regulation of their world's food supply.

(Chapter 132 | Chapter 164)
I do think you can explore the demons' waning belief in the original faith due to them collectively losing their genetic stability as a species either entirely separate from the manipulations of the upper echelons for their own sociopolitical gain or making them more amenable to it since Shirai does spend some pages acknowledging how they were complicit with the system due to the comforts it afforded them, comparatively scant as they were
(Chapter 175)
However, much more time is spent developing empathy for the plight of the average demon

(Chapter 49 | Chapter 130)
and criticizing those with power at the macrolevel for manufacturing consent and scarcity in the face of new developments that would be objectively good for society

(Chapter 147 - "All they care about is their profits.")
that I'd hesitate to phrase it simply as the collective demons' greed that led to this for falling into the more generic anime racism S2 falls into with Norman attacking a random village instead of pointedly targeting the capital.
#Something more interesting to me is the fact the snake is crossed out while the beetle isn't #Pretty sure you can't perform Gupna on an insect. There's no blood to drain the flower wouldn't bloom #You could argue maybe they don't really see insects as 'meat' #But considering the beetle's lined up with the other animals here I really don't think that's the case #Anyway point is from what Sonju tells us eating insects is probably against the Old Faith #So this whole 'no snakes' thing probably wasn't carried over from it and instead originated after the Promise #(if we assume it's a cultural/religious thing.) #(The existence of snake-like demons doesn't eliminate the possibility of snakes being biologically unviable) #(There's a lot of animals they could eat to end up like that. Lampreys worms caecilians etc.) #But I disgress. I'm not a theologist or anything just pointing out something i found weird. (via @darklight-owl)
With the visual representation for the splitting of the two worlds in chapter 48's cover art being an apple (even if it isn't actually the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden)

on top of the aforementioned framing of Mujika as a messianic figure and Emma falling into this as well, I wouldn't be surprised if Shirai opted for symbolism over biological realities on this particular matter since its not pressing to the narrative.
And you're right that it would something that came about after the promise

(Chapter 46 | Chapter 157)
Sonju says he and Mujika will eat anything else besides cattle children, though it seems like he has a preference for creatures he can hunt due to the spiritual aspect of it for him.
i want to see people to be talking about this panel in the promised neverland

tpn theory type stuff below cut
google search and stuff has gotten pretty bad so that might be why i'm struggling so much to find theories on this but omg it's a little frustrating because this is the coolest panel.
for anyone that doesn't remember, this was at the demon temple that showed them how to reach the seven walls.
there's one specific thing here that interests me the most, and it's the main reason i think this panel is so interesting, but there's so many other significant things to discuss here so i'll just get through some quickly.
at the top we see what i think is almost definitely the night and day, and the demon god. there're then lines pointing to the beginning of the evolution tree with the small bacteria-like first demons. i think this is telling us that the demon god is the originator of all of the demons. that's pretty huge?? i haven't heard anyone ever talk about that. i don't think this is far-fetched at all too. i strongly believe in this theory.

under the bacteria-like demons are these bipedal, horned, almost human-like demons. i'm less sure about what these are and i think this is more up for debate but i'm guessing these are a slightly evolved form of the first demons from eating lots of small things and slowly working their way a little up the food chain. with slight variations probably from slightly different diets.

under that, we see the demon evolution that we are familiar with.
they eat a fish, they become a fish-like demon. they eat a human, they become the familiar human-like demon. they eat bugs or other small wild creatures, they become the also familiar wild demon. (side note: we know humanoid demons also eat bugs alongside humans which is interesting. what unique affect to bugs have on them?)
it's showing us what the demons will evolve into after eating certain organisms. it all seems to align with what we know from normans research so far.

except for one thing. this is the thing that interests me more than anything else.

UNDER THE SNAKE CREATURE THERE'S JUST AN X.
WHY TF CANT THEY EAT SNAKES.
i don't think we ever get even a hint towards what this could mean in the manga.
gonna be real, i think even if i tried to look for patterns myself, i wouldn't know enough about biology to find much. i don't know much of anything about biology. i think the only thing i take away from this is that for some reason they can't eat snakes.
this stuff intrigues me so much and i just wish i could find more theories out there on this. rahhhh it's so cool. i just want an answer.
oh wait also what is this thing i dunno

honestly i can't make it out
anyway thanks for reading, i don't post about TPN but i just finished rereading all 20 volumes. i probably won't post about it again i just want to get this out

This story 😂 just keeps 😂 toying 😂 with me 😂
WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN SONJU OR SUNGJOO OR WHATEVER HIS NAME IS REALLY WHAT THE HECK DO YOU MEAN HES THE YOUNGER BROTHER
But after everything I’ve read up until now I’m not too shocked anymore tbh. And then what happens next, james ratri existed but wasn’t the one who helped the kids and legravalima is really the real minerva? But only because she was bored out of her mind at one point in time so she was behind all of this just so someone but not just anyone, a worthy opponent, could finally try to kill her even though she doesn’t really want to die? Oh and, there is actually no human world to go to and they’ve all been living in a simulation all this time? And that’s why the little demon god whatever his name is smirked when he heard Emma’s wish? Or is it that they’ll immediately die after getting to the human world? Cool cool 🤡
Okay but sungjoo is I suppose their trump card since he’s royalty too. I mean he was that even before this revelation, but even more so now since royalty are a different breed. What we don’t know is if in this case sungjoo living in the wild has made him stronger than his sister or if she is still stronger since she’s been eating so many of the “high-grade meat” for centuries, and not only that, she also ate their father the former king, as well as all of the other nobles including geelan

Some theories on what I've read in The Promised Neverland Manga! (I have only read up to volume 16)
⚠️ Some possible spoilers for those who haven't read past Volume 12
Theory 1: Norman is related to the Ratri clan.
Reasons:
1. He looks similar to Peter Ratri and the Julius guy.
2. Geelan as well as the children he has saved mistakened him for James Ratri/William Minerva.

↑
Theory 2: He (I don't know his name) is related to Emma.
Reasons:
1. They look similar.
2. They are both very selfless and kind.

↑
Theory 3: They (I don't know they're name or gender, I'd say they're a male Idk) are related to Ray.
Reason: They look similar to Ray.

↑
Theory 4: She (I think they're a female) is related to Conny.
Reason: She looks similar to Conny.
Theory 5: Ray is Isabella's son.
Reasons:
1. They look similar
2. When Isabella's backstory was given, her old friend was seen singing a lullaby to her. Later on, when Isabella became pregnant she was singing that exact same lullaby to her unborn child, then when Ray was around 5 or 6, (I think) she found him singing that exact same lullaby.
3. Back at the farm/house Isabella would bring things from the outside world, but she only gave them to Ray and not any of the other children.

The blatant Yverk erasure, this is so sad 😔😔
(Chapter 131)
M'guy looks so sick, and I love him cropping up at the beginning, during the original promise, and during Geelan's exile I wish he got to be at the forefront more.
Luce will be hard since Shirai's been mum on his height (along with Geelan in his non-degenerated form, Noma, and Nous), and we've never seen him standing at full height. He's always slouching in some way, even when knocked off his palanquin.

(Mystic Code Book Chapter 3 & Chapter 5 Character Profiles | Chapter 66 | Chapter 77 | Chapter 78)
#How do they shrink after regenerating form
Largely plagiarizing myself from this post and this one about some of my gripes with the series and how there's something to be said about the anthropocentric idea of humans being the pinnacle of intelligence demons strive to maintain and the organisms they desire to physically mimic (albeit at a larger scale and not exactly one-to-one), but it's something that I can accept given the target demographic of the series, this not being a series-original sin, and most importantly, the parasitic symbolism of those in the upper echelons of a hierarchical society needing someone beneath them in order to maintain their material comforts and define their sense of self and worth in relation to the world around them to avoid cognitive dissonance and doxastic anxiety.
#Why isn't Bayon 320 cm
Right he looks like he's taller than Leuvis even with his mask's horns in the flashback from roughly 800 years ago.
(Chapter 84)
So maybe he shrank? His mystic code book entry specifically notes his height is from 2045 (assuming they meant January 2046 when Goldy Pond was destroyed).
And I'm assuming his son's height is from 2047 when we're introduced to him.
But then we have the family photograph of the four* generations of House Bayon in chapter 140.

(*The demon on the left is not officially designated as the oldest noble Bayon, but based on them being in this portrait and walking in proximity to Lady Bayon in the same chapter boarding the train for Tifari, I feel like it's a safe bet to say we're seeing four generations here.)
Bayon Sr. has quite a few centimeters on his son, and this has to be relatively recent because his grandchildren are present. We don't know the average span of demon childhood, but Bayon Jr. looks like he was somewhere around the age of his children in 2047 when Geelan was still part of the nobility 700 years ago.
So maybe demon children stay around that size for a few hundred years and that gives Bayon Jr. enough time to gain those ten centimeters on his father, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Shirai was just spitballing these heights after the series ended in a general ballpark since they're so inconsequential to everyone but the most diehard of curatorial fans.
WHY tf is degenerated Geelan 17.7 feet tall. I gotta redo that chart now (and put pretty Geelan's height on as well.) I honestly just...forgot about Yverk.
Eh screw it I'll put all the Goldy bad bitches on it as well. I wanna see how short Luce is

That's all you need to know.” kldfj#Sorry for my shitty phone pictures of the code book I forgot to save the translated ones from Sunny's blog before they glitched#so I only Google translated Geelan's since the heights are the only relevant part of the other ones#also sorry if you we being rhetorical about the shrinking after regenerating tag lol#Long Post#FSS Chatter#Mystic Code Book#TPN Timeline#Kaiu Shirai#TPN Demons#Luce#Yverk#Bayon#Bayon I#Bayon II#Leuvis#Geelan#TPN 140#TPN 084#TPN 066#TPN 077#TPN 078#TPN 131#Search for Minerva Arc#Goldy Pond Battle Arc#Seven Walls Arc#Read More

Highly recommend checking out @puff-poff's posts on demon culture for anyone who hasn't read them already for the most comprehensive analysis on subjects in this vein.
(Chapter 90 Bonus Sketch)
Luce having the most ostentatious mask of the poachers as a reflection of him being part of the garish nouveau riche compared to the quiet luxury of Nous, Nouma, Bayon, and Leuvis is a familiar and fitting dynamic given the commentary on class division Shirai leans into.
Regarding being able to reveal their faces, I disagree.
(Chapter 102)
While the two demon brothers have never seen meat from any of the four top class farms—with their bodies completely intact upon serving—we do see a collection of mass production heads in a jar available for sale among the lower classes, probably the most expensive jar in the shop with the value the human brain has among demonkind. (One could argue they meant they never saw it because it was in the very back of the shop in that particular panel, but I'd say it's pedantic for ignoring the intention of this speech to be another nod to the class divide and strife among the demon populace.)
There's also the issue of the horizontal placement of human eyes compared to the vertical placement of demons'.

(Chapter 147 | Chapter 149 | Chapter 150)
Older, classical masks like those of the elder Bayons (compared to those of Bayon II's wife and children), Yverk, and Geelan's clan incorporate a pair of symmetrical, horizontal, and frequently vacant eye holes among their designs. In the chapter 90 bonus sketch, this is mentioned as respecting tradition, which I interpret as a holdover from the days of demons hunting humans, and the intention of that incorporation was to play on pareidolia-enhanced fear among humans who, out of habit, would look toward the horizontal pair of eye holes first when gazing upon demons in combat and would frequently be treated to an unflinching, menacing abyss. It's a good subtle tactic to unnerve them before they take in the rest of the mask.
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 7 Q&A)
This is also why I have mixed feelings about the kids' demon masks. On the one hand, I do understand why they wouldn't want to draw attention to themselves and risk having their human eyes being seen through more conspicuous holes.
(Chapter 102)
But I really wish they would have spent a panel acknowledging Gillian, Nigel, and Sonya incorporating nearly imperceptible eye slits or something to clarify exactly how they see while wearing them.
But unrelated to the mask conundrum, there's also the issue of humans having five digits on their hands compared to six that demons have (though I know there's a joke about Sonju having varying amounts of toes throughout the story).
I don’t think it’s been confirmed how well they can smell humans since they had to wear perfume
I'd say them having to wear perfume at all is a good indicator the demons' sense of smell vastly outclasses that of humans.

(Chapter 83 | Chapter 1)
The only reasons the two lackey demons don’t come after Emma and Norman right away in chapter 1 is that they’re caught up in conversation and probably a bit intoxicated off the idea of being able to eat even "just a fingertip" of meat from a top class farm, which is not something for the likes of lowly farm workers to enjoy, though Shirai notes they and even those working at mass production farms do have more prestige than demons of the same class working in other jobs.
(Mystic Code Book Chapter 7 Q&A)
interesting hypothesis…
I have made other posts about how demons differ based on what they eat. I thought this scene when Don, Gilda, Emma, Ray, Violet and Zack were searching for the golden water temples was every interesting

We as the readers have seen demons with feet like that! (These are just Bayon cuz his outfit makes it the easiest to see his feet)

i don’t think it has ever been explicitly said that masks are a sign of wealth, we only know that older/richer/ more dangerous demons have masks that are harder to break
but if they are a sign of pride and status then lower class demons that the protags were interacting with would not have seen the faces of rich demons before!
so hypothetically the humans could show their faces/feet and claim they were rich demons that didn’t show regeneration? The poor most likely haven’t seen human faces before because brains are the most valuable part
but I don’t think it’s been confirmed how well they can smell humans since they had to wear perfume

Bayon, sweating profusely:
