i think it's really cool and interesting how many echoes of bullets you can pick out in remember the laughter. i wonder if it was intentional or entirely coincidental or a result of bullets having been the album he'd written with the fewest other people involved but like. concept album about death and legacy with brief mood-setting instrumental tracks, only one love song, six-minute closing track about dying with a loved one hand-in-hand at your side (demolition lovers was also almost titled i brought you my bullets, you brought me your love, even). but where bullets is frantic and morbid and concerned with leaving a mark on the world, rtl is calm and reflective, looking back on a life in which the only thing that mattered was bettering yourself for your loved ones and hoping to leave the world having made it a better place for them. it's corny as fuck and tips over into triteness on occassion but also. it's sweet :(

the time gerard cut his balls trying to shave the stench from his body

interviewer: alright you ready? i heard someone in your band cut themselves while shaving their balls. is this true?

frank iero: hahaha that is completely true. (completely true)

interviewer: who was it? it

frank iero: wahahaha oh man. heh uh I guess he's not like whatever about it because he told the story on stage but. alright well, we were on tour one time and uh gerard was like in the bathroom for a long ass time somebody brought up the fact that when you're on tour yknow it's like.. when you're on tour and you haven't showered in a month yknow? or like gerard doesn't shower at all. hardly. he really stinks. and the hair on your nuts it's like- really keeps the smell in yknow so he figured like if he got rid of the hair, yknow he might cut down on some of the reeking uh so he had like a buzzer and he shaved himself and I guess he cut some- his balls and it just started bleeding everywhere

interviewer: this is terrible man

frank iero: what's that?

interviewer: this is a terrible question i'm gonna go to the next one

frank iero: alright

interviewer: thank you for telling us that though, revealing private information

frank iero: hey it's not my thing

interviewer: it's not your balls

"at the recent bloomfield ave show, me and my friend steve were waiting in line for the bathroom. gerard comes over and gets in line with us. we were talking about various things such as his lack of leather, the scene, etc. meanwhile, the rest of the band were halfway through setting up. when it's steve's turn for the bathroom, gerard was like

"dude, i really gotta be on stage, but i don't want to seem like a rockstar or nothing by cutting you in line.. do you think i could piss in the sink while you go?"

well, needless to say, i was very careful about my business when it was my turn, so i wouldn't have to use that sink.

a month later, at hellfest, i caught gerrard on his way to the port-a-potties. and informed him that there were no sinks to urinate in."

Suprise! I'm sick again! I may look like a boatswain and smell like a corpse, but the shows are still a go for the weekend. Please try and check us out at Maxwells this Friday with The Lawndarts and The High School Sweethearts. We're very excited to be playing Maxwells and it's been a personal dream of mine ever since I was a kid going to shows there. There are some people flying out and travelling many miles to see us so keep them company and meet some new friends. Click SHOWS and get the skinny on where it's going down.

We're also trying a first this weekend for My Chem- 2 shows in one day. This Saturday we have the pleasure of playing Alissa's Basement at 6:00 and then we hop in the van to make soundcheck at The Loop as soon as we finish. Eyeball label-mates, Little Joe Gould are coming out all the way from Indiana for this show so we've decided to risk health and safety to play both shows. If you've seen the shape of us after just one set you're probably curious what we will be like at the second show - so are we. I can assure you a night of "hot male action" and "stinky boys".

Also check out our good friends in The Ghost and The Exit in our links section. We had the good fortune of seeing both bands play 2 nights last weekend and they were great. Drinking in The Ghost van outside of CBs with Jordan and T-Top was definitely a plus.

I need a shave, a new dye-job, and some decongestant so I'll leave you with the image of me sitting in my house watching Mad Monster Party, moaning, sweating, boxer-clad, and trying to hit the high notes in Headfirst For Halos. - g

i haven’t seen this talked about on tumblr yet but this youtube account is uploading a lot of recordings of every bullets-era my chem content! it’s run by spacey (@spaceyraygun), an old friend of the band - you may know him bc he was mentioned in the pretty iconic 89.5FM WSOU interview featuring the uncle tt story, “how did you get yourself onto the cover of spin magazine?” etc. he went to a lot of my chem’s early shows and has high quality soundboard recordings of them, which he’s uploading to his channel one by one. there’s also my chem’s first ever radio interview, from a couple of weeks before bullets was released. i’m going through all the audios and uploading some of the most interesting parts to this tag, but go give spacey some likes and subscribes! please don’t repost anything from that channel without crediting him. also thank you to the lovely case @valleysofechoes for pointing these out to me <3
