✬ Arranged ✬ Part 2 Draco Malfoy x Reader
I received a lot of requests for a part 2 to Arranged. I’ve finally come up with some ideas to continue! Maybe even a part 3 ;)
Part 1

Y/N’s POV
It had been only been a week after you arrived at the Malfoy Manor. To your surprise, you’d been enjoying your stay so far. What began as a forcible “vacation” brought upon by the Malfoy’s and your parents turned into an enjoyable experience so far.
After your kiss with Draco, things seemed to be less tense. You both were getting along better than ever. You’d take pleasant walks in the garden (unlike before), have tea on the patio as you watch the sunset, stay up late talking about your desires, likes, and dislikes, the upcoming years at Hogwarts.
He managed to open up to you rather quickly. Even after he confessed his love for you, you expected him to remain reserved. Although he hasn’t kissed you since the night you arrived, he’d steal cheek kisses and subtle touches on your shoulders or hips. It gave you butterflies every time without fail.
Today we were planned to take engagement photos. Although Draco hadn’t proposed, this was still a long awaited arranged marriage. As you thought about the future as a Malfoy, you weren’t sickened by it like you were a week ago.
Mother had sent you a beautiful gown to wear for the shoot. As the photographers were setting up downstairs in the foyer, you were getting your makeup done by Narcissa.
“I don’t mean to pry but..I see you and draco are getting along rather nicely, yes?”
“Yes, I guess we’ve grown a liking for each other..” you looked away shyly.
“Oh don’t be embarassed dear! I’ll tell you a secret to ease your mind.” She cleared her throat “I too was arranged to wed Lucius, I was not his biggest fan at first, but I’ve grown to love him for everything he is.”
“That’s good to know. Thank you, Narcissa.”
“Come, look at my handy work!”
You got up out of your seat and looked in the mirror. She gave you a smoky green and black eye look with basic facial makeup.
“I love it,” you smiled at her.
“Now get that beautiful gown on and come downstairs.” She then left the room.
You let your hair fall out of its clip. You untied your robe as it fell to the ground, revealing nothing but your black strapless bra, black lace thong, knee high panty house and black heels. As you unzipped the bag your dress was in, the door swung open and Draco was on the other end. At first he looked away, but when he looked back at you there was nothing but awe in his eyes.
“I- Uh may I come in? Just need to fix my hair.”
You stood motionless, trying to chose your next words. It’s not like you could say no, it was his room after all, so you didn’t deny him that.
“Oh of course.” Your breath hitched as his eyes lay locked on you and your illuminated figure.
He walked to his vanity, sitting in the chair as he grabbed a comb. You watched from the corner of your eye as he skillfully played with his grey blonde locks. You caught him locking his orbs with yours yet again and looked away, continuing to put on your dress.
You removed it from the bag and unzipped it, giving you enough room to stick your feet in through the top and pull it up. You had to admit it was a beautiful piece of clothing. The top half was corset like, there were small points above both breasts, which lifted them up and made them even more apparent. The corset had small minimal lines going down just above your waist. The bottom was pure smooth silk. And of course, it was all dark, Slytherin green. As you lifted the dress up it was difficult to pull up the zipper behind you. Draco sat at his vanity and sprayed some cologne on him.
“Draco?”
“Yes dea-I mean y/n?”
You silently giggled at his almost comment. “Could you help me?” You darted your eyes towards your zipper. He rose from his seat and walked towards you. As you moved your hair infront of you so it wouldn’t get caught, you felt Draco’s cold finger tips on your spine, sending jolts through your entire body. As he reached the top, he placed both his hands on your shoulders and leaned in to your ear.
“You look..ravishing..my dear.”
You hid your blush from him and turned to face him. “Why thank you..you look delicious as well”
He furrowed his brows. “I MEAN DELIGHTFUL- YES, DELIGHTFUL.” Now you couldn’t help hiding your blush, it was too late.
“That’s you my dear, you..look..delicious.”
You suppressed your thoughts and spoke, “shall we go downstairs then?”
“Let’s.” He held out his arm and you locked yours with it as you headed down the stairs.
You reached the bottom of the stairs and untwined your arms. You could see the foyer set up for the honorable Malfoy portrait, the same backdrop as all the other family photos.
You and Draco listened to the photographer as he told you how to stand. Draco stepped behind you, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you in tight. You placed both of your hands on top of his, as you were instructed.
You sensed a presence behind you and it wasn’t just Draco himself..it was below the belt Draco. He shuffled trying to shake his erection but it wasn’t helping. If anything it made it worse.
“You two were lovely to photograph. I’ll get these to you by next week.”
“Thank you sir, have a great rest of your day.” You said with a smile.
You and Draco went upstairs back to his bedroom. As much as you loved that dress, it was choking the life out of you. The girl, who never cried, the girl who didn’t even cry when her parents were killed, the girl who only spread happiness and joy was crying. Y/N told her uncle everything and to say her uncle was more relieved than angry was an understatement. “Y/N, they will be punished, I promise you, but I am extremely happy right now that the facade ended. You deserve someone who is as wealthy as you, someone who me and your papa think is reliable and we have chosen the someone for you.”
“You have?”
“Yes, after you have graduated this year we will be visiting your future in-laws, it was your mother’s wish to get you married straight after you graduated. I will not tell you who it is, but you will be happy with this decision and one more thing focus on your N.E.W.T.S, not on that stupid boy, go to your dorm now.” Snape finished and showed a rare sign of affection by kissing the top of the heartbroken girl’s head.
Summer Holidays

Y/N was wearing a long red silk dress that showed off her curves, her hair braided like a crown at the top and the rest of her hair curled and down. She looked breathtaking. “Good afternoon, it’s lovely seeing you here Mr Snape, Severus and Miss Y/L/N.” a voice called, it was Lucius Malfoy. “Good afternoon son, good afternoon Narcissa, where is the young Malfoy?” Y/N’s papa questioned and Y/N tried her hardest not to roll her eyes at his name. “He’ll be down by the time we have settled down in the dining room.” Narcissa replied sweetly, she was Y/N’s favourite Malfoy, sweet and kind, she sometimes reminded her of her own mother.
When they entered the dining room, Draco was standing there waiting for them. The two teens made very awkward eye contact, to say the least, and Y/N could’ve sworn she saw Draco blush.
Draco’s POV
Fucking hell she looks amazing. What the hell? You hate her, you hate her, you hate her, well you don’t hate her, you dislike her. Right? Repeat the mantra Draco, you dislike her, you dislike her, you.. “Draco darling, come sit down. We all know Y/N looks beautiful tonight, no need to make her feel awkward.” Mother teased. Shit! Was I staring for that long? I took a seat in front of Y/N, which was probably the worst decision i’ve made tonight, and “So, should we talk about the wedding now or after dinner?” Father asked. “I think after dinner is perfect, an old man needs to fill his stomach up before making big decisions.” Y/N’s grandfather laughed and Y/N smiled and shook her head. That was my late mother’s watch, it was the first present my father got her when they got married, with his own money, not his inheritance. And it was thrown in the bin, because it wasn’t slytherin enough” Oh shit. “Then when you broke my quill?” “I didn’t Goyle did.” “You stood there and laughed, you stood there and encouraged him. That was my late father’s lucky quill and he gave it to me before he died and said my lucky charm gets my lucky quill, I don’t need this when I have you with me.” I was such a prick. “Then when…” “I...I can't hear anymore Y/N, I am sorry, I really am sorry.”
I look up to see tears rolling down her cheeks. I made her cry again. “Y/N/N I am so sorry, please, please don’t cry. Please love please. Please don’t cry.” I moved forward so I was sitting right next to her. Hesitantly, I brought her into my chest and wrapped my arms around her, one arm resting on the back of her head and one on her back. “Sshh, sshh it’s fine, it’ll all be ok, i’m so sorry, so so sorry. I am a fuck up, a big fuck up.” I moved my hands to each side of her cheek, wiping away the tears with my thumbs. “Do you know why I was a dick to you? How could someone be so strong. Then you got your first boyfriend, who wasn’t me, that killed me. Then you broke up after 2 years and he hurt you, so I hurt him and he broke both his arms during a quidditch game, even though we were in the same team and Ravenclaw got the blame. Then literally 6 months later you and Zabini got into a relationship, even though he knew I had feelings for you. If I really hated you Y/N, I would’ve stayed quiet about the fact that Zabini was cheating on you with Pansy. I kept trying to tell myself that I hate you, I dislike you, but everytime I see that smile of yours I can’t stop. Y/N/N, I’ve liked you since first year and I know it’s hard to believe, but I have.” Woah, okay I got that out of the way, but why wasn’t she replying?
Her mouth was wide open, eyes practically popping out of her head and she was frozen, I swear for a minute I thought someone had frozen her. “Can you please reply? I’m kinda shitting myself here.” Why did I say that? I mentally facepalmed myself. “What the fuck Draco? What the actual fuck? You can’t just be a dick for 7 years then say you love, well like me and then expect me to answer within 2 minutes of you saying that! I need time to actually let my brain function and understand what just happened!” “Um, ha, yeh, um...take as much time as…” “Oh, I will, thank you very much!” “Actually, um...could you kinda hurry up, because your silence and glare are kinda scaring me.” “Mhm.” “Mhm?” “Mhm” “Mhm?” “Mhm” “Mhm?” M FUCKING HM! NOW SHUT UP!” “I...sorry.” She looks so cute when she’s angry, wow. It started to rain ever so slightly, but looking up at the sky, it was obvious it was going to be pouring with rain very soon.
“I can’t believe it took you 7 years to say that you git! You are cute and tall and you have really nice eyes and you are quite handsome. We would have cute babies.” She started talking and I choked on my own spit. “Did I interrupt you when you were talking?” “No, sorry.” I cleared my throat. “I did have a little, now don’t suddenly have an ego boost, right where was I? Once again mentally facepalming myself during the kiss. Merlin, she was hard to resist, she’s adorable.
As I had expected it was pouring with rain and honestly, I just wanted time to stop, Y/N with me, it’s pouring with rain, how romantic! Oh if she heard me she’d think I’m so cringey. I pulled away and “Um sorry, I interrupted you again.” “This is the one interruption I don’t mind.” she said laughing and I could feel my face heating up and going red. This time, she pulled me in to kiss, her soft hands going around and wrapping around my neck and my hands resting on her waist. Um, I, you always say you’re right and you’ll always make good decisions for me, so um I was just checking if the decision is really good or not.” Y/N laughed awkwardly, realised what she said and, “No, I meant, we were, um I don’t know, Draco?” “Oh um, Sir, we were getting to know each othe...ouch!” Y/N stepped on my foot and I realised what I had just said, we were stuck in a messy situation. “Oh kids, you youngsters say you understand jokes, but looking at your flustered states I don’t think you do.” Mr Snape laughed and we awkwardly laughed with him. “Once you’ve finished what you’ve started, come down and have dessert, just make sure Severus doesn’t see you two or he’ll probably hex you son.” “Papppppaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!” “See you in the dining room angel” And with that Y/N’s papa walked off laughing.
“One good thing Malfoy, one damn good thing was happening and you fuck up again!” “Fuck up, excuse you, but I didn’t invite your papa to walk into us snogging did I?” “Well, you could’ve, I don’t know, been more alert of the situation, kept your eyes open, looking out for people!” “Oh wow, so you expect me to keep my eyes open mid make out to look out for people. Darling, don’t you think that’s a bit creepy?” “No, well, yes, but no, but yes. Oh for fucks sake Draco! You’re so annoying!” Y/N starts walking stomping away. “Hey, we haven’t finished what we started!” “Sod off Malfoy, go finish it off with Parkinson!” Parkinson? Where did she come from? “OI! Come back!” I yelled, grabbing her wrist and pulling her into me before slamming my lips onto hers. Breathless, I reluctantly pull back, “Finish what we started off remember? Now, where were we again?” And we did finish off what we started, the only problem was that we didn’t want it to finish and we had to finish it so someone else (Severus Snape) didn't walk in on us making out. I quickly said a drying spell and we went back to the dining room.
Reader’s POV
“Welcome back children. Hope you enjoyed your time together.” Narcissa greeted the two, “Your wedding has been scheduled to be next month, 9th to be exact. Y/N as I am sure Severus and your grandfather have no idea how to shop for wedding dresses, Narcissa will take you.” “Yes, Sir, that’s perfectly fine.” “Oh please don’t call me Sir, you can call me father.” “Thank you.” “Tomorrow you and Draco will go out for lunch, I have booked you two a table. It is at 1:30 exactly, please do not be late.” “Um, I will be there, thank you.” “No need to say thank you dear.”
The Next Day
1:30 went to 1:40 to 1:50 to 2:00 to 2:30, but there was no sign of the young Malfoy and Y/N was getting very, very annoyed. “I’m leaving!” Y/N mumbled. “Y/N! Wait up!” Malfoy yelled, extremely out of breath. “WHAT TIME DO YOU CALL THIS? I HAVE BEEN WAITING HERE FOR AN HOUR DRA...MALFOY AND YOU ARE LATE! ENJOY THIS LUNCH BY YOURSELF, BECAUSE I AM NO LONGER INTERESTED! TAKE WHOEVER HELD YOU UP TO THIS LUNCH! I AM NOT HUNGRY!” and with that Y/N apparated back to her home. “Great, now what do I do?” Draco asked himself, rubbing the back of his neck.
“That git…” “Language.” “That boy was 1 hour late papa! I hate people who aren’t punctual! I can’t trust him, what if he’s late to our wedding?” “So you’re already thinking about your wedding?” “No...I…” “Go freshen up sweetheart. You seem tired” “Ok papa.”
WHOOSH! “What the..” “Hey!” Malfoy said. “Malfoy, before just apparating into someone's bedroom you should really apparate outside and knock first! As you can see I am currently wrapped in only a towel and I do not appreciate you turning up like this! You either turn up late or turn up without warning!” Y/N yelled, “Well I was late and you left, so I decided I’ll surprise you and turn up at your home” and to tease her more the platinum haired boy walked closer and closer, until Y/N’s knees hit the bed and she fell backwards. Draco leaned over her and whispered “You said something about us having cute babies yesterday, wouldn’t mind trying that out.” He stood back up and turned around, “I’ll wait for you downstairs, I have a little surprise for you.” And with that he left, leaving a very flustered Y/N laying on her bed, blushing like a maniac.
“Angel, look who’s here!” Y/N’s papa pointed towards Draco and Draco greeting her like he hadn’t just seen her half naked and left her extremely flustered 15 minutes ago. “What a very pleasant surprise!” Y/N greeted, very sarcastically. “Sir..” “Call me papa” “Papa, if I have your permission, could I take your angel somewhere today. Even though we were in the same school, same house, same year, we don’t know much about each other. I’d like to spend the day getting to know her.”
“Getting to know her? Like yesterday?” “PAPAAAAAA!” “I’m just joking angel.” “Son, come here quickly.” “Yes papa?” “Please do use protection if you get that far.” Mr Snape whispered in Draco’s ear, this time leaving Draco flustered, but Y/N overheard “PAPAAAA! OMG! DRACO GO OUTSIDE I’LL COME IN A MINUTE!” “Oh angel, look how red you have gotten, but please be safe.” “BYE PAPA!” “Bye angel.”
“You want babies, but papa wants us to use protection, pray tell me how that works?” “DRACOOOOOO!” “I haven’t even done anything and you’re already screaming my name.” “I will strangle you!” “Kinky.” “MALFOYYYY.” “Draco sounds better.” “That’s it, go where you wanna go alone, I’m not going with you.” “But I need you to have babies, I can’t have babies by myself, even though they would be perfect.” “DRACO! I AM GOING BACK HOME! AGAIN! ENJOY!” “Final decision?” “YUP!” Draco picked Y/N up bridal style, “PUT ME DOWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!” “The more you cooperate the quicker we get there sweetheart.” and led her to a very posh restaurant, different to the one from lunch, putting her down when they were at the door. They enter, have a lovely meal, get to know each other more (with words and quite a lot of kissing, let’s say more kissing than words) and when they had finished eating, Draco grabbed Y/N’s hand and said “Y/N, I know I've been a dick to you and I know I don’t deserve you. You are so beautiful, so adorable and yes we would have the cutest babies, mainly because of you and in order for that to happen you have to become Mrs Malfoy,” He got down on one knee and finished it off “Will you do the honour of marrying me, completing me and helping me become better? Will you Miss Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N marry me?” Y/N was in tears, she was an emotional wreck and to make it worse Draco stood up and before putting a ring on her finger, handed her two things, a watch that was EXACTLY like her mother’s and a quill that was EXACTLY like her father’s lucky quill.
“Dray…” she whispered, knowing if she spoke any louder she'd be sobbing. “I had to, we do need your parents' blessing as well and I didn’t want to feel guilty about the mistakes I made in the past and then look at you everytime and be reminded of all the times I made you cry and...this was the reason I was late earlier as well, I’m sorry my love. ” “YOU GIT! CAN YOU EVER DO ANYTHING WITHOUT MAKING ME CRYYYYYYYY?” “Hmmmmm, would making babies make you cry?” “DRACO LUCIUS MALFOY!” “Hey, I don’t wanna hear my father’s name being screamed in the process.” “DRACOOOO!” “That’s better, but we haven’t even started, Merlin, you wouldn’t last 10 minutes.” He chuckled, earning a big slap on the chest from Y/N. “You haven’t answered my question. Will you marry me?” “Do I have a choice? I do want cute babies.” “So, yes?” “Yes!” He slid the Malfoy ring on her finger and they shared a passionate, loving kiss, both melting into each other. “Do you want me to keep my eyes open?” Draco teased. “Draco, if you want me to kiss you then you need to shut up before you lose the privilege to be kissed.” “Mhm, mhm. You wouldn’t want that though.” “Just kiss me you sap” and before they could deepen the kiss, “I hope you remember my advice son!” Y/N’s grandfather yelled from outside the window. “PAPAAAAAAAAAA!” “How does he turn up every time I’m kissing you?” “If I knew don’t you think I’d make sure it doesn’t happen again? Draco use your brain for once.” the two lovers chuckled
Marriage Day
“Are you ready angel?” “I think I am papa.” “Then let’s go, they’re waiting for us.” The doors opened and all eyes were on Y/N, she looked stunning and Draco could not get his eyes off of her. “Holy shit,” he mumbled, earning a nudge from his father. The vows are said and they were pronounced husband and wife, Mr and Mrs Malfoy, finishing it off with a sweet kiss. Y/N’s grandfather goes up to the newly wedded couple and whispers “Remember the advice I gave you last month? Don’t use that today.” “papaaa,” Y/N whispered, her papa leaving the two of them blushing and shaking their heads while he went and sat down. “Well at least we now know when we can start making cute babies.” Draco whispered “You’re such an idiot.” “I’m your idiot,” “Sap” “Only for you.”
Quite some time later
“Daddy?” “Yes Angel?” “Me and Shcorp have a question.” “Go ahead.” “Shcorp you ask.” “Daddy?” “Yes Scorpius?” “Did you and mummy have an argument last night?” “No sweetheart we didn't, why'd you ask?” Y/N asked, giving the twins milkshakes, Draco his coffee and sitting down next to him drinking her own coffee. Draco wrapped his arm around her waist pulling her closer to him and then gave her a confused look and she shrugged her shoulders in response. “Because we heard mummy shout your name quite a few times last night.” “JDCIFDOIACODJNAOVCD” Y/N and Draco both choked on their coffees, red in the face and extremely embarrassed, both coughing their lungs out staring at each other not knowing what to do or say. “My lovely children, have you heard of the term making cute babies?” Y/N’s papa came in and asked. The innocent children shaking their heads and their poor parents growing redder and redder. “Well, that’s what was happening.” the old man laughed. “PAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!” Draco and Y/N shouted, very very embarrassed. To hide her embarrassment she hid her face in Draco’s chest. “So you were making cute babies? WE WANT TO MAKE CUTE BABIES!” “SCORP! ANGEL! NO!” the embarrassed couple yelled, “Children let your parents do that job.” “PAPPPPAAAAAAAAAA!” 
Y/N was right when she said they’d make cute babies, because the two kids sitting in front of them were the cutest and most beautiful kids anyone had seen.

Chapter 2
Buzz. Buzz. Buzz. Buzz
Jude sleepily opened her eyes not able to ignore the constant buzzing of her phone on the bedside. She blindly threw her hand out searching for the source of the horrid noise. Once her hand closed around her phone she opened it was blinded by the brightness.
 Buzz. Buzz.
 Blinking quickly she opened text messages and bolted upright in bed. How could she have forgotten. Looking down at her phone was 8 messages from Dain and more coming 
Dain: "Hey"
Dain: "Where have you been"
Dain: "Can you call me?"
Dain: "Jude. Call me"
Dain: "Its late are you okay"
Dain: “You better be at home"
Dain: "Good morning"
Dain: "Can you hang out today" 
Dain: "Are you up?"
Dain: "Wake up babe"
I frantically typed out a good morning whitch in seconds he replied 
Dain: "Good afternoon. It's Noon but that's okay how are you?"
Jude: "I'm good" 
Dain: "Where were you last night?"
I couldn't tell him about the fights. He didn't know and wouldn't let me continue if he knew. The problem was I was slowly running out of excuses and they were getting more and more far fetched.
Jude: "I was on a late night walk. Didn't want my phone on me"
Dain: "You should always have your phone on you" 
Jude: "I didn't want it to disturb me"
Dain: "What if something happened"
Nothing would have happened but I couldn't tell him that. 
Jude: "Oh I should probably get breakfast and stuff. Text you later!" 
I threw the blankets to the side and slid off the bed. There was no part of my body that wasn't sore or just plain hurting. As I walked to my closet I noticed a big bruise on my upper thigh that must have manifested overnight. I'd have to find something to cover that up. I found a long dark forest green shirt that I styled with a tie in the front. I honestly thought about just wearing that to be scandalous but I put on some ripped jeans so I wouldn't get arrested. I decided to leave my hair down today. I was downstairs by 12:15
I was in a rush. I had wanted to get to work by 11. I do own my own shop but I want to open at a decent time and I've already slept through my alarm. Now I was very late and was snapping at Taryn to get a move on. Taryn often accompanies me to work just to leave after about 15 minutes. 
"Lets fucking go. I have customers"
"Okay okay. Let me get my shoes on!"
I groaned and just went outside, she could catch up. The shop was in town so the walk took a bit but Taryn refused to ride on my motorcycle. Why didn't she wake me up then I wouldn't be so snappy or so rushed. 
I heard rapid footsteps behind me and looked back over my shoulder to see Taryn hurrying to catch up. I see her purple, no lavender (as I was corrected earlier) dress waves slightly in the wind. I’ll laugh at her if she gets into a fight. That dress will do absolutely no good in a battle of any sorts. Honestly I don’t know how people get us confused. I know we're twins but honestly I would never wear something like that. She seems to like it though so I don’t mention it.
We chatted idly about things of no importance and eventually we arrived at my shop. 
In crude cursive letters above a quaint shop said "Jude's Tattoos" Not the most creative name but Vivi said she thought it had a nice ring to it and no one had complained so far. 
Taryn turned to me and said "I'll see you later have fun at work" before walking past the shop. I didn't bother waving. I unlocked the door and went inside the small chimes of the door making me smile. I turned on the lights and the room illuminated in a nice subtle glow. There was the small waiting room in the front with the black fuzzy couch and two neon colored chairs. Some random magazines were laid out on the round wooden table in between them. Behind that was the desk that divided the front from the back workspace. I went to the back where all my supplies were set up. Around the back and on the desk one could find some of my personal stuff. I sometimes kept things here when I forgot to take them home, was too lazy, or maybe I purposely kept them here who knows. I sat down on my swivel desk chair and noticed a lipstick bottle. I popped it open to see if it was what I think it was and sure enough hidden in it was a blade. Perfect for some stealthy stabbing. Maybe I should take that home today? Eh, I could think about it later. I tossed it aside and looked at my customers for today. Only one that was supposed to come at 4.
Cardan Greenbriar who's unsure what he wants as of now.
Well I guess I got some time to kill. I moved over to the couch and pulled out my phone.
Cardan POV
"No threats huh?" 
Cardan said to himself as he completed the ransomware program on Mr. Smith's company. He pushed away from his computer smiling brightly. In about an hour he'd call and state his demands. He stood up nearly falling down again after he had been sitting so long. Once he got used to standing again he stretched and looked at the time. It was about 2 that means he'd call at  2:30 or 3. Then he had about 1 hour before he got his tattoo at a new place his friend had recommended. He still had to figure out exactly what he wanted. He had a rough idea but not exactly. He could work on that or maybe he could talk to some more companies. 
He walked upstairs still trying to roughly plan his day when he noticed himself in the mirror. Now Cardan took a lot of pride in his appearance and right now he could barely recognize himself. His hair was all over the place, his makeup smeared, bags under his eyes, and his silk pajamas were crinkled. He might have to dedicate an hour to his routine instead of the usual thirty minutes. 
He looked in his closet and pulled out a dark blue oxford shirt that he put on and tucked up the sleeves. He put on black pants with a belt that was more meant for  style than practical use and started brushing out his hair. He parted it to the left so it covered his left ear leaving his right ear for his beautiful dangling earring. He slid his rings on and added some subtle touches to his makeup. He thought he looked casual yet a bit dramatic and that worked perfectly fine for him. 
It was about 2:35 by this time and he decided to call Mr. Smith. He dialed the number on the business card that he had on his desk. After a few rings he answered with an exasperated voice "Hello how may I…"
"Hello Mr. Smith"
"Cardan?" His exasperation turning to surprise 
"Mr. Greenbriar if you please. Yes well I was wondering if you had reconsidered what you said yesterday."
"Why would I do that?"
"Just considering your circumstances at the moment"
"And how do you know about that?" 
"How do you think?" He said with a mocking tone
"You did it. Why?" Surprise and bewilderment were quite obvious in his voice.
"Because I want to be paid. It's really not that hard to understand. I don't get paid and you get punished."
"We are already working on taking it down" Cardan could tell he tried to say this with confidence but his voice wavered 
"You know it will take you too long. You will lose to many customers in that time. Quit fooling around" 
There was a long silence and Cardan was starting to think he might have hung up when his voice came through
"Okay. No more than what we were paying you though"
"Now was that so hard? Remember that I am a very valuable asset but I can also make very bad things happen. To you or to others. Alright I hope you have a lovely day" 
Cardan hung up and started to disable the program. Soon enough it was gone and Mr. Smith was under Cardan control. 
It was about 3 now and Cardan didn't know what to do. He could get Starbucks? He could text Locke? He could just go early? There was a jewelry store near the tattoo shop that his friend worked at. He could go there. He decided that was the best idea and got into the car to drive to "Atlantis Jewelry" but not before getting a coffee for the both of them. 
Cardan walked through the store door and among the glass display cases that held jewels and necklaces that glittered when the sun hit them through the perfectly aligned windows. He walked up to the front to the person who was stationed there 
"Yeah Hi I'm looking for Narcissa. She works here" 
The attendant held up a finger as in to say wait right here than went to the back. Cardan waited there coffees in hand until Narcissa came out and stretched over the counter to give Cardan a kiss on the cheek 
"Cardan! How have you been!"
"Hey. I've been good. I brought you a coffee" he handed the coffee that had whipped cream to her
"Thanks so much I definitely needed this." 
Cardan just nodded. 
"So what have you been up to?" She asked after she had taken a long sip from her drink. 
Cardan shrugged "not much is different. My neighbors moved out so now there's just an empty house next to me but other than that everything is the same. What about you?" 
"Oh well my mom went on a trip so I'm all alone for awhile which is kinda nice. My boyfriend broke up with me. I got a promotion. That tattoo shop opened across the street. It drives my manager crazy."
She started to go onto the next thing but Cardan stopped her 
"What's wrong with the tattoo shop" He didn't want to go to a faulty tattoo shop "who runs it?" 
"Just this girl" She said waving her hand dismissively "it's the music that bothers us. It's very loud" 
"Oh. That's it?" 
Apparently  that was the wrong choice of words. She glared at him "No that's not it. It scares our customers away!"
"Oh sorry. Enjoy your coffee. I'll see you later okay?"
"Yeah we should hang out soon”
"Definitely" Cardan said as he stepped out the door.
Cardan wandered a bit before going into the tattoo shop. His first thought was that it was very nice and that he liked it. The second was that he thought it was very unprofessional to be sleeping on the job. This thought came to him as he looked at what he assumed to be the owner laying down fast asleep on the couch in the front area. He wondered if he should leave and come back later but by the looks of it this girl wasn't waking up any time soon so he might as well wake her up. He walked over and tapped on her shoulder 
"Darling?"
He shook her a bit and she rolled over looking up at him. He waved slightly
"I hate to bother you but I'm supposed to be getting a tattoo" 
The girl's face went from shock, embarrassment, to frustration in the span of 5 seconds. 
"Ugh Hello welcome to Judes tattoos I'm Jude" 
"I figured" 
"And you are?" She said sitting up and flipping her hair back.
"Oh I'm Cardan" 
"Yea the boy who doesn't know what he wants" 
This girl wasn't very professional at all. He wondered how long this place would stay in business. 
"Thats me…"
"Okay. Well come on in to the back and we'll get everything worked out" 
She started walking and Cardan followed behind her wondering if this had been a good idea. It had been his friend Locke who had texted and recommended this place so that already made it suspicious and Narcissa wasn’t a big fan of the store… Was it too late to bail? On the other hand this place was somewhat new and as a bonus this girl was stunningly beautiful and he had been interested in a tattoo so why not.
He just had to hope this Jude woman wouldn't ruin his life.

       ��       Draco had always known that he would get a soulmate. Everyone has one. Even muggles and Magical Creatures. Most Magical Children are born with the name already on them but not Draco. His father worried that it meant he was a squib. Despite squibs also having soulmates. Logic sometimes can become lost when paranoia takes over.
                It took six healers and even a foreign ambassador of unique medicines before Lucius would believe that Draco was not actually a squib. It was advised that the mark would appear at its own rate.
                At first, he wondered why everyone else seemed to look at him with pity. It wasn’t his fault that the name hadn’t showed up yet. It didn’t bother him that it wasn’t just there, he knew that he would one day get his mark too.
                When he was four, it was announced in the Daily Prophet that the heir of the Malfoy line still hadn’t received a soulmate. Which was the longest any wizard child had gone without a mark in over two centuries.
                Whispers aren’t as quiet as some believe. Draco heard other kids his age teasing him for being unlovable. That’s what they all told him. That he didn’t have a mark because no one was made to love him.
                … But that wasn’t true. Draco knew that there was someone out there for him. He knew there was. There just had to be, right?

                            “Maybe we should find an eligible pureblood who lost their soulmate. That way it doesn’t matter if Draco gets a soulmate or not.”
                Draco froze in the hallway at his father’s words. No. They couldn’t do this! He did have a soulmate, he did! He bit his lip as he looked down at his palms, where there was supposed to be someone’s name.
                “If he gets a soulmate after a contract is made, the soulmate can fight the marriage in court.” His mother pointed out, with little emotion. As if they weren’t discussing Draco’s entire future.
                “If being the operative word.” Lucius drawled. “I won’t sign anything, but I will begin a search.”
                That was enough for Draco. He walked quietly and quickly out of the hallway before he made a run for his bedroom. He closed the door silently before he grabbed his duvet and burrowed underneath his bed.
                There was a feeling of being protected down there, no one could harm him if they couldn’t find him. Draco decided that he wasn’t going to come out until he got his soulmate mark.
                It wasn’t too long before the rumbling of his stomach let him know that it was getting close to dinner, but Draco wasn’t going to do it. He wasn’t going to cave. Strength and inner will is required if one wants to succeed in life. So, he knew that he could do this.
                *Pop*
                “Master Draco.” Dobby squeaked out in confusion. “Dinner is prepared.”
                Draco held his breath, knowing that the elf would hear him if he breathed. If he could hide from Dobby, then he could definitely hide from his father.
                When the comforter was lifted up and Draco looked up into giant curious eyes, he let out his breath in disappointment.
                “Is Master Draco… alright?”
                Draco shook his head rapidly. “No, Dobby. Father wants to marry me off because he thinks I won’t ever get a soulmate!”
                A tiny sigh escaped Dobby as he crawled underneath the bed and peered at Draco intently. “Soulmates can’t be rushed or hurried. Yours will come in due time.”
                That had Draco looking down at his palms. “I know.” He sniffled. It was true, he did know this. Something in his gut told him that he would get his mark one day. He just wished that it was sooner rather than later.
                “Do you have a soulmate, Dobby?” Draco asked curiously, wiping his eyes and choosing to put this behind him for now.
                “Dobby does!” The elf’s ears wiggled drastically and it had Draco smiling softly.
                “Can I see?” He bit his lip a little worriedly, he knew that soulmates were touchy subjects sometimes and he didn’t want to make the elf mad at him. Dobby was the only nice thing about the Manor.
                Dobby gently placed his hand in Draco’s and showed him his palm. In soft cursive writing was clearly another house elf’s name. “Winky?”
                When Dobby nodded his head so rapidly that his ears flopped forward, Draco let out a little laugh that he hoped didn’t sound like a giggle. “What are they like?”
                “Winky…” Dobby paused to smile lightly. “Winky is kind and hard working.”
                Draco looked around when Dobby didn’t elaborate. He wanted to ask what else Winky was like but it seemed that Dobby and he had different ideas on compliments.
                When Draco’s stomach rumbled again, Dobby’s ears fell flat and he looked horrified. “Master Draco, dinner is late.”
                “Can I eat here?” Draco begged, not allowing Dobby’s hand to retreat, he liked the comfort of someone else. “I don’t want to go down there.” Especially not after hearing his parents talk.
                Dobby sighed before gently pulling his hand away. Draco would have said something but then Dobby pulled him into a hug. His eyes stung at the contact, he had never had a hug before.
                Before Draco could really enjoy the hug, Dobby had apparated away. Draco hadn’t decided if he was going to actually go down to dinner or not. His stomach was making this very hard for him but his stubborn will still stood a chance.
                Another *Pop* had Draco peeking his head out from under the bed in surprise. His brows arched at the sight of Dobby holding a plate of food.
                “Dobby has brought dinner to Draco. Master Malfoy and Mistress Narcissa have already retired for the night.
                “Of course they have.” Draco didn’t let it bother him. They had always been like this.
                When Draco reached his hands out, he caught the surprise in Dobby’s eyes at the fact that he wanted to eat under the bed. “I feel safe down here.” He whispered, not meeting the elf’s eyes as he gently placed the plate next to him and slid back underneath.
                The sound of Dobby crawling down with him, had Draco wondering if this is what a friend was like. Would a friend do this? Was Dobby his friend?
                Draco took his roll and snapped it in two before reaching out his hand.
                “No, Mater Draco.” Dobby denied with his head shaking and ears moving. “It’s not proper.” As if the hug they shared earlier hadn’t been improper too.
                “I don’t care.” Draco whispered. “I don’t want to be proper.”
                When Dobby still wouldn’t take it, Draco refused to move his hand. “Dobby, please. It’s the only thing I have to repay you. I have nothing else to offer.”
                Dobby tentatively took the bread with slightly shaking fingers. “Master Draco is…wrong.” There was a pause as Dobby slapped himself on the leg hard for speaking out against him. “Young Master has a lot to offer.”
                Draco looked down as he felt his face heat up slightly. He may only be five but even he knew that no one deserved to be treated the way a house elf was. “Maybe, I can free you one day.” Dobby had always been the only one to treat him with an ounce of kindness.
                His statement didn’t warrant any response but Draco didn’t expect a reply. He spent the rest of his meal trying to convince Dobby to eat half his food.

                When Draco was six, he felt his left palm begin to burn. The shock of it had him worried before his heart stopped at the realization of what this meant.
                Draco ran to his room and didn’t bother trying to muffle his steps nor did he care that he wasn’t behaving with proper decorum. He slammed the door shut and went straight underneath the bed.
                The pain wasn’t as bad as when it first began but it was still the most excruciating thing he had ever felt. He bit his lip hard to stop a whimper from escaping. His eyes clenched tightly to keep his tears at bay.
                Only when the scorching agony had dissipated, did Draco open his eyes and peer down at his palm.
                Harry Potter.
                Draco’s palm was stinging but that didn’t stop him from tracing the name reverently. “Harry.” He choked out with a small smile.
                Vindicated. He had always known that he had a soulmate.
                “Dobby!”
                The elf apparated underneath the bed, not even remotely surprised at the destination.
                “Is Master Draco alright?” Dobby’s voice was full of concern and must have noticed the small tear tracks.
                Draco decided to show him instead of voicing it. He thrusted his hand outward, proudly displaying his mark. The skin surrounding the name was red and puffy but Draco thought it was beautiful. Because this was the mark of his soulmate. Nothing could ever be more beautiful to him.
                “Oh.” The tone of Dobby’s voice was of surprise but mainly delight. His ears were wiggling and he clapped his hands together. “Master Draco should tell Master Malfoy.”
                That had Draco biting his lip. “Tomorrow.” He decided hastily. “I’ll tell him tomorrow.” Duty and responsibilities could be handled then. Right now… right now, he just wanted to imagine the possibilities and picture his soulmate.
                Draco reached out his hand and tried to reach his pillow on top of the bed but his arm was just out of reach. A small *snap* could be heard and suddenly the pillow was in his hands. “Thank you.” Draco whispered shyly as he settled on the ground. Dobby liked to pretend that he didn’t use his magic to help but Draco knew better. He knew that hadn’t been him.
                “If you don’t have work to do, can you stay?” Draco whispered, patting the other half of the pillow. He knew that he was once again being improper but he just didn’t care.
                A heavy sigh was all he could hear and Draco had to bite his lip to stop from smiling. He knew that sigh. That was the one the elf would make when Draco got his way.
                He didn’t look to the right when he felt the weight of another head on the pillow, he kept his eyes on the bottom of his bedframe. “Do you think he will love me?” Draco asked as he ran his fingers against the name.
                “Yes Master Draco."
                Draco closed his eyes and tried to imagine what Harry would look like. “What if he doesn’t want to love a boy?”
                “Then he wouldn’t have been made your soulmate.”
                He knew that Dobby was saying that to make him feel better but they both knew that sometimes people didn’t want someone of the same gender.
                “He’s beautiful.” Draco whispered, picturing every possibility his mind could come up with. It didn’t matter what Harry looked like. He would love him no matter what.
                A breathy sound that might have been a chuckle was released and it had Draco peering curiously at Dobby. The elf was staring at the bedframe but had a small smile on his face.
                “I can’t wait to meet him.” Draco continued, looking back at the frame. “I wish he could save me.” He paused for a moment. “He could save you too.”
                “Perhaps.” The elf conceded in a tone that Draco knew meant he was just humoring him.

                Draco stood rigidly still as his father inspected his hand closely. He wished that Dobby could be in here but he didn’t want to make it obvious that he was friends with the elf. His father wouldn’t appreciate that.
                “Harry Potter.” The tone was of confusion and Draco wondered what could be the problem.
                “Narcissa, what was the name of the Potter child?”
                The question had Draco sucking in a breath as he tried to keep his face passive. He glanced towards his mother, who was reading the Daily Prophet, not interested in who her son’s soulmate was in the slightest.
                “Don’t know.” She drawled, flipping a page. “The name was never released to the public after all three of them were found dead.” Narcissa gave Lucius a pointed look, one that Draco didn’t understand at all.
                Dead. Draco clenched his fist tightly, not caring that his nails were digging into his skin. There was no way that Harry was dead. That couldn’t be true. He couldn’t have waited for his soulmate just to find out that he had died. That wasn’t fair.
                Lucius made a thoughtful noise. “I suppose I could look around and figure out if there are any Harry Potters around. It might be a distant relative of the Potter line.”
                Hope was beginning to sprout inside of Draco and he clung to it harder than he had ever dreamed possible. A reality with Harry dead was one that he refused to accept.

                Each year that passed was getting harder and harder for Draco to bear. His father would sporadically call him into the study to announce another dead end. His heart broke a little every time.
                It was hard to maintain a straight face and deny the pain inside of him. His father may be a lot of things but he did have the best resources money could buy. He knew that if anyone could find Harry, that his father’s contacts would.
                This was a bad sign. If Harry wasn’t found soon, then Draco was going to have to consider the possibility that Harry might actually be dead. Which would kill his spirit in the process.

                “Draco, I have searched all possible connections in all countries for a Harry Potter.”
                Draco had his hands behind his back but they were wringing together in a show of nerves. At least no one would see them.              
                “There is no wizard born of that name.”
                His father didn’t hold any sympathy and his tone was of pure boredom.
                “What about non-wizards?” Draco knew he had made a mistake the moment his father snapped his head up and glared hotly at him.
                “Say that again.”
                Draco knew better than to repeat it. But he also knew that saying nothing was going to result in a punishment.
                Only a few seconds of indecision had passed but it was enough for Lucius to come to his own conclusion. A whoosh of air could be heard as his father slashed his wand.
                Draco screamed as his body hit the floor and white-hot pain seared his entire being. His muscles seized up in a way that he had never experienced before and his throat was already beginning to hurt from the screams as they tore out of his frame. The pain was agony, it was unlike anything he had ever felt and he would do anything to stop it.
                It took several moments before he realized that his father had stopped the spell. Draco tried to sit up but his quaking arms couldn’t hold him up and it caused him to just fall back down.
                “No heir of the Malfoy line will be involved with a muggle.” It was spat out so harshly that Draco would have flinched if he could move.
                “If there is no Harry Potter in the next few years, you will marry someone of my choosing.”
                Draco knew better than to disagree with his father but he couldn’t bring himself to agree. Because under no circumstances was he going to marry someone that wasn’t his soulmate.
                The sound of his father’s footsteps could be heard making their way towards the door and Draco breathed a sigh of relief. The pain in his body was still preventing him from moving, so he kept still. His palm was already facing upwards, making it easy to just tilt a little till he could see the mark.
                “Harry.” Draco whispered, closing his eyes tightly. This would all be worth it one day. He could handle more of this as long as Harry would be at the end.

                “I heard Malfoy’s soulmate is a muggle.”
                Draco sighed heavily as he pushed his way through a group of Ravenclaws. Whoever said that only Slytherins could be dicks, must surely be delusional.
                “Going to throw them to the side because of blood purity?” Someone behind him taunted angrily. As if they know anything about him.
                “Unless of course your soulmate is just as much as a pretentious prick as you are.”
                Draco spun around angrily and noticed that they had attracted a rather large crowd. He withdrew his wand and ignored the observers. “Say what you will about me but don’t say a word against my soulmate. You know nothing.”
                “Neither do you.” The boy continued with a smirk that lowered his appearance aesthetically. “You think your soulmate will actually like who you are?” There was a pause as the boy looked around at the listeners. “Who could ever want you?”
                That had Draco’s fists clenching and he breathed through his nose, calming himself down. “I don’t care if my soulmate is a muggle.” He knew that most people wouldn’t believe him but that didn’t matter. None of their opinions held any weight.
                “I’ll love him anyways.” He watched the older boy jerk backwards in surprise and it was enough of a distraction that Draco was able to shove his way past a few slack jawed onlookers and make his way towards his dormitory.

                It took two days before the news of what he said had reached his father’s ears. The sight of a howler had all eyes on him during breakfast.
                Draco feared for what would happen when the school year was over. Summer was not something he looked forward to in the slightest.
                He picked up the howler and threw it on the floor before he shot a bombarda right at it. Chaos ensued right after it exploded in a puff of shredded parchment.
                A week’s worth of detention and a trip with Hagrid into the Forbidden Forest was worth it. Not having to hear his father’s voice screaming at him for being a disappointment was worth it.

                “Did you mean it?”
                Draco looked up and sighed heavily at the sight of Granger sitting next to him. Defense Against the Dark Arts hadn’t started yet and he had been hoping to have the table to himself. 
                “You’ll have to be more specific than that. I say a lot of things.”
                Granger huffed impatiently. “Will you really love your soulmate if they turn out to be a muggle?”
                “Granger I wouldn’t care if my soulmate turned out to be a werewolf.” He paused when Professor Lupin let out a strangled noise. Well, that was weird. Not that the man wasn’t already weird.
                Draco looked back to Granger and noticed her calculating look. He sighed heavily before gesturing towards her hand, where her soulmate’s name was gleaming. “You were lucky enough to have already found your soulmate.” He wondered if Weasley was around, they hardly went anywhere without each other.
                “You don’t know what it’s like not knowing who they are.” Draco’s hands were covered in dragon hide gloves because his father refused to allow anyone the chance of seeing a potential muggle on his palm.
                “I wonder sometimes whether he is already dead or just not born yet. I wonder what he will be like and what kind of person he is. I don’t care if he is a muggle because all I want from him is to be safe and whole.” He stopped when he realized that he had already said too much.
                “I just want him.” Draco stood up rapidly, grabbing his books. “Excuse me, this isn’t my seat.”
                He made his way towards the back of the room, ignoring the way Granger and Lupin were staring at him. Draco just wished people would leave him alone. Why did they care? It wasn’t as if they were the ones that were going to be with Harry.

                “Mister Malfoy, could I have a word with you.”
                Draco groaned internally before he stepped to the side and allowed the rest of the class to leave. He glanced towards Professor Lupin and wondered what he had done to warrant this. He hadn’t cheated this time.
               “Why did you refuse to go in front of the boggart?”
                The question had Draco looking away. He could lie and give an excuse but he had a feeling that Lupin would see past that.
               “Have you ever met my father, sir?”
                He could tell that the question had thrown the Professor some. Probably not understanding where the change of subject was coming from.
                “A few times.”
                Draco fixed the strap of his bag, clutching it closer to him. “Then you know exactly what he is like. I figured it would be better if I spared the rest of the students the pleasure of meeting him.”
                He looked down when a slightly distressed sound came from Lupin. He didn’t want to see pity in his eyes. Didn’t want to be looked at differently.
                “Thank you for telling me. As long as you can actively perform the spell, then I won’t make you do the exercise.”
                “Thank you.” Gratitude was hard sometimes but Draco knew that he had to express it this time. He needed the man to know that he really did appreciate it. When he peered up at the man, he noticed that Lupin’s hand was held loosely for the first time all year and he was able to make out the writing on his palm.
                Draco cleared his throat a little hesitantly. “Sirius Black is innocent.” He whispered before turning around and heading towards the door. That was one thing his father found humorous.
                “I know.” The whispered declaration was barely heard but as Draco closed the door behind him, he realized that other people also had horrible situations with their soulmates as well. He couldn’t imagine what Lupin or Black was going through.

                Draco limped through his bedroom door and closed it lightly, not wanting to anger his father even further by making noise. He had barely made it to his bed before his good leg gave out.
                He knew what he was supposed to do. He knew what a proper pureblood heir would do but he didn’t care. Draco refused to marry anyone his father set up. He would sooner run away than marry Astoria. She seemed nice enough but she wasn’t Harry. She wasn’t who he wanted.
                Draco blinked at the ceiling, willing the tears not to fall. Why should he have to give up a piece of himself to find love? Why should he sacrifice his heart to find success? Why couldn’t they go hand in hand? If marrying Astoria meant being a Malfoy, then he didn’t want that. Didn’t want to be the heir his father wanted. He couldn’t.
                He traced Harry’s name and wished with everything that he had that he could see him. Even if Harry didn’t want him as a soulmate, just one look would satisfy him enough to move on. If his soulmate just wanted to be friends, he could do that. It would hurt but he would do anything to keep Harry. He just needed to find him first.
                … But he couldn’t help but hope that Harry would want him as more than a friend. He wanted to be loved. Because despite everything set against him, he loved Harry Potter.
                “Harry.” The whisper was a cry for help as much as it was to bring comfort. He wished that somehow his soulmate could save him.

                Draco knew that he was too old and far too big to fit underneath his bed but his heart and mind couldn’t take reality anymore. His hands were shaking and his body shivering.
                You will kill Dumbledore.
                The order from a madman. He had always known that his father had followed the Dark Lord, but he had never thought that the man would look like that. That was a walking nightmare.
                His mind was racing, trying to come up with any kind of way out of this. He didn’t want to kill Dumbledore. Nor did he have a reason to. How could the Dark Lord expect him to be able to kill a man as powerful as the Headmaster?
                The sound of a scream in the distance had Draco swearing as he crawled out from underneath the bed and ran towards his potion bag. He bit his lip in concentration as he added more ingredients. He knew that the difference in species would cause the potions to be less potent and he needed to act quickly if he was going to be of any help.
                When the screams stopped, he knew that it was now or never.
                “Dobby.” He whispered softly.
                The sound of the apparation was muffled and he knew that was the elf’s way of helping him.
                “What happened?” Draco cried at the sight of Dobby. He had known it would be bad but not this bad. The elf was bleeding profusely, cuts and bruises marring his features. He began pulling out more potions and even a few dittany bottles.
                “Dobby was used as a test subject as punishment for not having the guest of Master Malfoy’s food warm enough.”
                As if the Dark Lord couldn’t have used a heating charm on his already hot soup. Draco cursed the existence of that man as he set out to heal Dobby the best he could.
                “Things are changing.” Draco whispered, not meeting Dobby’s eyes. “This house has never been a good place for either of us. I can’t change my fate.” He clenched his eyes, hoping that he wouldn’t cry. “But I can change yours.”
                “Master Draco what—” Dobby gasped as a sock was placed in his hands.
                The enraged scream of his father could be heard. Draco knew that the bond between Master and elf had been severed.
                “I should have set you free a long time ago.” The tears were falling but Draco couldn’t stop them. “But I was too selfish. You were all I had and for that I am sorry. So sorry.” He hastily put away his potions and tried to mentally prepare himself for whatever his father could come up with.
                “Forgive me, Dobby.” Draco croaked. “I should’ve had your best interests at heart but I didn’t.”
                “Dobby would have wanted to stay to protect Master Draco.” Dobby cried out, throwing himself at Draco.
                “I know.” Draco’s breathing was shaky as he clung to the second hug he has ever had. “But you don’t have to anymore. I’ll find a way to protect myself. You are a free elf.”
                Dobby shook his head sadly as his ears were drooped and tears falling. “Dobby doesn’t want to be free if Master Draco is left behind.”
                That was the point where Draco’s heart shattered. He knew what kind of life Dobby had here and to think that the elf would stay for him was the sweetest but most crushing thing he had ever experienced.
                The sound of footsteps coming closer had Draco panicking. He pushed Dobby away from him. “Go! Before he comes in here! Go on, you are free!”
                Dobby narrowed his eyes and clutched the sock to his heart. “Dobby is a free elf. He has no Master.”
                Draco nodded his head distractedly as he looked towards the door, where he knew his father was going to come in at any moment.
                “If Dobby wishes young Draco to be free too, then he will take Draco with him.”
                “Huh?” Draco snapped his head towards Dobby at the same moment his door was swung open.
                The last thing Draco saw was a determined gleam in Dobby’s eyes, a soft hand on his arm and then the crack of an apparation as they disappeared.

THE WAYWARD PRINCE:
The thing about Jughead Jones — he was weird, and he liked to be weird.
Jughead Jones was the following things: adroit wordsmith, razor-sharp, and a smart-mouthed asshole. He was not, however, the sort a teenage girl’s dreams were made of. He was a little too tall and a little too angular with a face that was a little too fond of scowling to be conventionally attractive. He had two girlfriends in the span of his entire life, and first one he’d acquired when he was nine for the span of two days. He was akin to a scalpel — sharp-edged, clinical, and very good at cutting people out of his life.
Except, Sabrina.
Never Sabrina.
And because of Sabrina — he was here, regretting everything.
“This,” Jughead grumbled for the nth time, “is all your fault.”
“Yes,” Sabrina agreed, throwing a dusky-blue button-down at him with a glare that clearly conveyed wear this or else, “it is my fault that you’ve landed the biggest television role of this year. I apologise for being magnificent.”
Jughead snorted. “Potter is the lead.”
“Who cares? Sirius is obviously meant to be the hot one. That makes his role the bigger fish. And you,” Sabrina said, tilting his head sideways and inspecting the carelessly casual style she arranged his hair in (read: brushed once and let it air-dry), “cousin-german, will soon be smiling from a poster on every pubescent girl’s wall and be the main feature in their dreams.”
“If it’s all the same to you,” Jughead’s scowl grew deeper, a feat he had not imagined was achievable before he’d done it. “I’d rather not.” 
Two hours later, two thirds of which were spent navigating L.A.’s atrocious traffic, Jughead found himself lounging in a deceptively comfortable egg chair in a Hollywood studio, waiting to proceed with the first script reading session with the rest of Magic is Might cast. Sabrina, primly perched to his right, was scanning the others over the brim of her rapidly cooling coffee cup with shrewd, pale-grey eyes, as Jughead lazily thumbed through the script.
“Stop eyeing them like you want to wear their faces as a mask, Ree,” he muttered out of the corner of his mouth.
“I am so not. I’m eyeing them like I want to make a fashionable skin suit, obviously. Get your facts straight, Jones.”
Here was the thing; — Jughead firmly believed that if you did something, you better put your best foot forward from the start; to do your very best at everything you undertook and not half-ass it simply because it required effort. (Life required effort, Jughead often reminded himself, if it didn’t it wouldn’t be so damn difficult.)
This stance seemed at odds with his disaffected and cynical slacker persona, but what could Jughead say — he was contrary like that. He could remain apathetic and be a pedantic perfectionist at heart; he had layers, like a lasagna.
But precisely that sort of attitude had landed him the lead role in Magic is Might as Sirius Black.
It had happened nine days ago, when Jughead had accompanied Sabrina to her second audition for Magic is Might — she had failed to get Lily Evans’s role and was trying out for Narcissa Black. Jughead was there for emotional support, for the sort of get your shit together, you walking waste of space pep-talks Sabrina and he excelled at. He was there to permit his hand to be crushed in a vice grip as she waited for her name to be called, and to take her to Wildflower Café by their apartment to gorge on breakfast foods and stuff their faces with toasted marshmallow milkshakes in the face of another disappointment.
Jughead Jones was, by profession, a screenwriter; he wrote seven plays, one of which had been actually made into a film. He was not an actor. The universe disagreed, however. Kevin fucking Keller disagreed, too, apparently, because the moment Jughead had walked up to a dumbfounded-looking Sabrina after her audition — handkerchief at the ready, just in case — he’d been spotted by Kevin fucking Keller’s eagle-eyed stare. Kevin fucking Keller who’d taken one look at Jughead, pointed his finger at him and with eyedrum piercing snap, barked out, “You, there — in here, now.” and Sabrina, that fucking traitor, had pushed him forward into the audition room.
It was serendipitous he knew the script like the back of his hand, having practiced with Sabrina until they were blue in the face, it was also fortuitous his reaction in the face of sheer audacity was to fall back on his most defining traits — sarcasm and generally all-around fuck-you attitude.
Both, as it had turned out, were great characteristics for one Sirius Black.
So here he was, Forsythe Pendleton Jones the third, newly minted actor extraordinaire with no education about the craft and enough talent, according to Keller, to fill the Pacific ocean and then some — out of his depth, and feeling utterly displaced.
It was a peculiar feeling, foreign and unwelcome — Jughead hated it with the blazing ebullition of pure abhorrence.
“Hey,” Sabrina called, soft as a whisper, placing her hand on his knee, stilling it. Jughead hadn’t realised his left leg had been bouncing. “Relax, bro-bro.”
Jughead opened his mouth to reply something along the lines of Shut it, hambone, but was interrupted when a tall shadow of a small person fell across his lap.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Mad Max himself,” commented a small, red-headed girl on berry-red charged murder-weapons on the lam from the law and thus posing as women’s footwear. “So, tall, dark, and inexperienced, how does it feel to finally be in the real show biz?”
There was a refractory set to Jughead’s clenched jaw, so Sabrina answered in his stead, snickering, “I don’t know Big Red, you tell us?”
The girl’s exceedingly red mouth was reset out of its perpetually sullen pout into a grimace of distaste. “For a virtual nobody, you sure have a mouth on you, Emily Strange.”
There were four rules Jughead Jones instinctively followed whenever he chose to speak: Was he being rational? Was he being truthful? Were his words necessary? Were they kind? Often times, if he had not met all of his criteria, Jughead would settle on keeping his silence a while longer.
This, was not such a time.
“Is that all you can do,” Jughead found himself rasping out, “try your utmost to diss people with painfully obvious references? You’re not doing a very good job, are you?”
“You’re a pretty cool customer, huh?”
“I hide my inner pain underneath a stoic visage,” Jughead quipped. Cheryl Blossom looked like would like nothing more than to dig her red-tipped claws into Jughead’s stoic visage.
“Hey, guys,” said a guy in corduroy slacks and a blue-yellow varsity jacket of all things; he was average-height, but with a Heroic Build identifying him as James Potter material. There was a hint of admonishment in his tone, but not enough to reign anyone in. “We’re supposed to be getting along…”
Jughead was utterly unsurprised when he was promptly ignored.
Big Red sneered down on them and with a snazzy flip of gloriously red hair, pointedly perched on the corner of the oval table. Then, she extended a bedazzled with a shape of a cherry phone Jughead didn’t realise she held in front of her on a selfie-stick, and with that godawful pout, began, “See, my lovely cherries, when presented with a choice between either Tim Burton Junior and his blonde Fran Bow or a ginger Kelly Clarkson, Cheryl Bombshell has no choice but to choose herself. I certainly hope their acting is better than their personalities because those are as parched as a dry spell.”
“Oi, Cherry Bomb!” a female producer barked sharply, the one with pink-striped hair and a punk attitude, “don’t fucking live blog a closed script reading, you imbecile!”
“Don’t call me that!” Cheryl Blossom snarled, teeth unnaturally white against the vivid red of her mouth. “How are my cherries supposed to know what I’m doing at any given moment if I don’t blog about it?”
“I don’t know,” Jughead grumbled, too low to be heard by anyone but Sabrina, who promptly elbowed him in the ribs, “maybe try not to seek validation from a faceless mass of people online?” said the kettle to the pot, he mentally added.
The woman with the pink hair was even shorter than Cheryl, but when she stood up, she cut an impressively intimidating figure nonetheless. “This,” she growled, “is what we get for casting a bloody Instagram starlet.”
“She’s a solid choice, Toni,” Keller admonished, softly, gingerly prying away her fingers off his bicep, “she can act and her hair is iconic. What more could we ask for?”
“A fucking professional attitude for one. And maybe,” Topaz, that was her name, Jughead finally remembered, pointedly shouted in red-head’s direction, “not to always pout like she’s about to suck dick.”
Cheryl Blossom looked up from the highly-focused examination of her razor-sharp talons she’d been performing and pouted. “I don’t suck dick on sheer principle, you grotsky little byotch.”
Varsity Jacket raised his hands in placation. “Okay, seriously, maybe you should—”
“Toni, go smoke a fag and find your chill,” cut in Keller, and her hand immediately shot up, giving him the middle finger, but she left the room nonetheless. “And Cheryl, take it down a notch. I’m serious, you hear me?”
Cheryl turned away from him with a huff, but she hadn’t said anything. Instead, she began typing away furiously on her phone.
Huh, thought Jughead.
Kevin Keller was not a tough guy, he noticed, he did not have a commanding presence. Even Varsity Jacket drew more attention to himself with his ridiculous floppy hair, freckled face, and All-American attitude. But, Jughead decided, Kevin Keller understood women. With that in mind, Jughead settled back in his chair, reading over the script yet again.
It was fifteen minutes later when Toni Topaz strode into the room, her combat boots practically abusing the dotted, grey linoleum with the force of her steps, not looking an iota less stressed. “Fuck it,” she announced, “if we wait anymore for those two, we’ll get behind schedule.”
“All right, then,” Keller said, clapping his hands, “places, everyone.”
Like the asshole she was, Sabrina took the seat assigned to him, next to Varsity Jacket, and switched their name planks with a wink. Jughead had neither the inclination nor the naiveté to question her choices, so he dragged the chair he had been sitting for the last half-an-hour towards the table by its back, and positioned himself on Sabrina’s left, straightening the SIRIUS BLACK plaque so it was uniformly aligned with all the others.
The plague before a lounging Cheryl Blossom did not read BITCH FROM HELL, much to Jughead’s surprise, instead, it said — LILY EVANS.
A thought streaked across the forefront of his mind: We are all royally fucked.
Varsity Jacket’s named turned out to be Archie Andrews. Jughead knew that now because the first words out of that kid’s mouth were, quite literally, “Hey, there. I’m Archie Andrews, I’m eighteen, you may know me from last year’s 16 Birthday Wishes, and I look forward to working with ya all.”
Jughead could not have conjured this kid up had he even tried. He shared a concerned glance with Sabrina who mouthed, is he for real? and Jughead only had the energy to shrug. Yeah, he decided, he could see this Archie Andrews as one James Potter. If he squinted.
Cheryl Blossom did not introduce herself. She scowled at all of them, even poor golden retriever puppy personified Andrews, called them philistines, and proceeded with reading her lines. Interesting development: she could act. Expected conclusion: she packed too much malice into her lines and came of as passive aggressive. Keller had to intermediately correct her. That was, however, a correctable quality she could redeem herself from with enough effort; or so Sabrina had said, Jughead’s inescapable, little-devil-on-the-shoulder-type expert on all things acting™.  
When it was his turn to read, Jughead did what he had always done when he read out loud his scripts during editing: tried his damndest not to stutter, keeping his voice smooth and even, and detached himself from the situation, rendering himself utterly impervious to nerves and apprehension. It was not Jughead Jones who had been reciting the script from memory as the lines printed on paper streamed before his eyes in a confusing, maddening swirl — it had been Sirius Black doing all those things; teasing his friend James, flirting with prim and proper Lily, arguing with Narcissa.
Disassociating might have kept Jughead’s anxiety at bay, but it made Sirius Black come alive.
So, of course, once Jughead had gotten into the swing of things, the universe rained on his parade: the door slammed open, revealing two girls standing on the other side of its frame.
“Oooops,” said the shorter one, her dark hair reflecting light attractively as she stode in the room. She had not sounded particularly sorry, Jughead noticed. “Apologies, hadn’t meant to barge in quite so—”
“Veronica,” Toni cut in, as bitingly as a wolf, “you were supposed to be here half-an-hour ago!”
“That late, huh,” muttered Veronica assumingly Lodge, flipping her wrist to check the slim, diamond-encrusted watch on her left hand. “Apologies, Toni, darling, but L.A. traffic is simply odious, as you well know. Got held up.”
“By what — appearance of abominable snowman in the middle of Franklin Avenue?”
“Not quite,” Veronica replied, a sly not-quite smile settling on her face, “Betty and I—”
“Of course, you had hamstrung Cooper, too.” Toni cast a dirty look over Veronica’s shoulder at a willowy, nervous-looking blonde still hesitating in the doorway. “Don’t think I haven’t noticed you there, princess.”
“Well, as I was saying, Betty and I,” continued Veronica Lodge, bulldozing over Toni completely and out of the corner of his eye, Jughead could see Call Me Archie Andrews’s jaw unhinge a little, “were late completely by accident, but it was all my fault. Let’s just say, a Lodge doesn’t always land on their feet.
“Still, I had to amend such an insufferable grievance,” Veronica smiled, charmingly, still sly as a fox. “Imagine how tickled pink I was to learn we are not only headed into the same building, but for the same script reading—”
“To which you are late; both of you,” grumbled Toni, but she seemed to have lost most of her heat. Kevin was rubbing her shoulders soothingly as she massaged her temples. Momentarily, Jughead wondered if she was prematurely grey beneath all that pink dye.
“—long story, short: Betty here,” Veronica said, stepping back and drawing the taller girl into her side. “Is my new BFF and I love her to pieces.”
“From a five minute meeting,” Kevin asked, corner of his mouth twitching.
“Boo, you whore,” teased Veronica, earning an unexpect snort from Sabrina, “it’s love at first sight. Don’t judge.” Then:
“You there,” Veronica snapped her fingers in the direction of a fish-eyed assistant Jughead took care to ignore — she’d been making moon-eyes at him, according to Sabrina, and there were times to be wary of his cousin’s advice, but not in instances such as this one. “Fetch me a skinny venti white mocha, one shot, with two pumps of sugarfree vanilla, no whip — pronto. I can’t think clearly without my daily recommended injection of sugar and caffeine.”
Immediately, the situation dissolved into absolute bedlam as everyone clamoured for Ginger’s attention to place their coffee order, too. She’s a sly one, Jughead thought for the third time, smart, too.
Here was the thing about Jughead Jones: he was an objective observer of life, not an active participator. An introvert and a borderline misanthrope, he regarded the world from a safe distance of cool, clinical detachment — he watched and he recorded and he understood because he noticed enough to pay attention in the first place; he was perceptive, and he used this to his advantage. 
And as if enticed by a magnetic pull, Jughead’s eyes drifted towards the leggy blonde to his right. The first thing he noticed her was this — she was uncomfortable. The second was that she was seemed nervous, displaced; and third — well, she was making her way towards him.
This girl, however, was totally throwing him for a loop.
She was dressed in a diaphanous, intricately embroidered, sapphire-coloured blouse, and when she shifted to pull out her chair, Jughead could see her laced brassiere through the silk material. Unexpectedly, she sat next to him, across from a plaque reading REMMY LUPIN. She had a striking look — blue-eyed and golden-haired with a face like a porcelain doll’s; wide-eyed, lovely, and haunting in its stillness. I met a lady on a moor, Jughead though, aureate hair, refulgent eyes; a dancing, starry sprite.
“Hi,” she greeted, turning to him, face splitting into a blooming, honeyed smile, white teeth gleaming, the streaming sunlight from the window behind them set her braid into a molten blaze, “I’m Betty.”

THE DREAMER:
“Three creams, two splenda, please.”
Betty Cooper was already running (hopefully, fashionably) late; not exactly a good first impression. She had woken up behind schedule (she had sort of fallen into the black hole that was Tumblr, recently, and had taken to staying up late); her cat, Caramel, had thrown up all over the kitchen floor. One side of her hair had dried flatter than the other — she was never going to bed straight from the shower ever again. And her uber had been running behind. Fantastic, she had uttered when finally arriving at the address given. The time on her phone alerting her that she should would have been inside already, had her morning gone accordingly, sipping on her coffee without a care in the world.
Well, that last bit was a stretch. If you asked anyone who knew her, they would say without a doubt that, Betty Cooper cared too much, about everything.
It was kind of her thing, though. Betty had a profound sense of perseverance and applied it to anyone in need of help that she came across. Polly (her older sister and recently, albeit somewhat regrettably, her manager) akined it to her being like a new mother, babying her fresh-faced ducklings. It often impeded her own desires and well-thought out plans.
Betty was a goner for a schedule. She could plan her day like nobody’s business — rarely did it ever actually go according to plan though. She would describe herself as being meticulous bordering the edge of perfectionist — Betty actually detested that word. Being in control of the situation, however, gave her life.
This was all new to her though, at least, fairly. Acting, that is.
She had been on edge of booking a flight back to San Francisco for what seemed like months. With only $200 to her name, and a can of cold soup sitting like a rock in her belly, Betty had auditioned for a role in Magic is Might. She had been failing auditions for months, her savings account was gone, and she was exhausted from working two menial jobs in order to have money to even go to auditions.
So, by all accounts, Betty figured an extra boost of caffeine was in order to make it through the whirlwind day that had been plotted ahead. A table read with her cast mates of Magic is Might, who she had yet to meet, was slotted for the whole day. As well as some promotional pictures of the group. The whole thing came together rather quickly for an HBO show, as she understood. Betty would be forever grateful that they hadn’t found anyone for the part of Remus Lupin yet.
Somehow, her name had been misspelled (she wanted to glare at Polly) and they thought it had said Elizander, on her papers. Whoever had been manning the audition hadn’t done a thorough look-through at the time and had barely looked up at her, just shooed her through the door. They seemed desperate.
To be fair, she hadn’t realized that the part of Remus was male. Of course, she had read the Harry Potter books, who hasn’t? But Polly had simply implored her to get her ass to this audition, without much else to go on.
Everyone had stared at her when she entered the room, but the guy in the middle of the group seated before her had stood up, planting his hands on the table with a loud smack.
“Excuse me, this isn’t —”
“No, excuse me, but that was incredibly rude.” A blush bloomed across her chest, streaking upwards, despite her outward display of confidence. “I’m here to audition, so let me audition before turning me away.”
It turns out that the man was Kevin Keller, one of the showrunners. Betty had desperately wanted to curl into a ball from mortification when she found out, but instead she had been engulfed in a hug while he had exclaimed “Such fire!”, and had let her do the audition.  
They had complimented her afterwards. Apparently she had an inner voice that matched Remus’s suppressed darkness à la werewolf unequivocally. They were going to change the character and rework the script for her. Betty was unperturbed usually, but she had been floored by their sentiments.
Now, granted, they had done the same thing for the character of Snape, but that was for Veronica Lodge — ex-disney starlet who had bowed out of the limelight for several years only to return and turn everyone’s heads when she demanded the part of Severus Snape.
Betty mussed her life was going to be very different from here on out (assuming the show gets picked up after the contingent episodes), but she was looking forward to not cringing every time they ran her card through a register. She loved food, and coffee was a vice she wasn’t willing to give up.
In L.A. there seemed to be a Starbucks on just about every godforsaken block, so she had been thankful there was one conveniently close to the building she was now ardently walking toward. Betty was practically jogging as she took a sip of her drink, the mouthful of cold coffee was sweet and creamy. It was really refreshing — had she not just spilled it all over her shirt when someone plowed into her shoulder, jarring the cup from her hand.
Betty had stood frozen in place, her muscles turning tense as she panicked. Of course she had worn her favorite outfit today. Her pale pink sweater was now sticking to her skin uncomfortably, but thankfully there were only a few drops on her jeans — the dark color of them would prevent a stain from being noticeable, but her sweater…
“Oh my god, fuck, I am so sorry.”
Betty looked up from where she was still staring at her coffee soaked front, hand crushing the now empty cup. She blinked owlishly at the girl who had spoken. A dark haired girl with an equally empty cup, however stain free clothes — impeccable, by the way, in front of her. Small hands covered in white lace gloves (really? The urge to roll her eyes was strong) were reaching out for her and grabbing hold of her arm, gently albeit forcefully. Betty had no choice but to be tugged along and out of the path of the ravenous L.A. goers on the sidewalk.
“It’s… fine, really,” Betty hadn’t wanted to use the word, but there wasn’t anything else on the tip of her tongue. “I’m running late to my read through anyway, I should —”
Veronica interrupted her, raising her impeccably arched brows even higher. “Read through? As in, script?”
Nodding, Betty looked up to the tall glass front building they were almost in front of. She had been so close…
“Well, I think we’re headed to the same place then. Veronica Lodge,” the raven haired girl extended her glove covered hand and Betty raised her hand that wasn’t a sticky mess to shake it. Veronica continued, “pleasure to meet you…” she trailed off and Betty interjected.
“Betty Cooper.”
“Betty, allow me to offer you a new blouse, I simply can’t let you in there like that.”
Betty had started to shake her head, fingers itching to reach up and tighten her ponytail, but alas, she realized, she had worn her hair in a loose braid that brushed the edges of her collarbone. “No, that’s okay, you don’t have to do that.” she waved a hand, tossing her empty cup into the trash bin they had stopped by.
“I insist. Come,” it wasn’t up for debate anymore, that white glove grabbing Betty’s wrist again and pulling her toward a sleek black car that was parked some spaces down. “Don’t worry about being late, if we both are then they really can’t do anything about it."
Betty was surprised that the words didn’t sound pretentious coming from the other girls mouth, but humble. Veronica had pulled her inside the car, instructing her to pull the door closed. She hesitated before doing so, the door shutting with a soft click. She never thought being in a car alone with Veronica Lodge would ever be on her agenda, but here she was, with a collection of delicate tops spread over their laps that were distinctly not at all Betty’s style.
But beggars couldn’t be choosers.
Her green-blue eyes examined the choices carefully, taking in the price tags still dangling from them. Her throat was dry, her swallow surely audible. Everything was more-than-her-rent expensive. Plucking the one with the smallest numbers up, a transparent (okay maybe she had made a mistake here…) sapphire-blue blouse with colorful embroidered flowers, “This one is great,” she smiled at Veronica.
“Oh, excellent choice. Can’t go wrong with Derek Lam 10.”
She scrunched her nose up, fingering the material. Veronica had leant back against the seat, arms crossed expectantly. Betty glanced around to the car windows. “You want me to change here?”
“I expect you, too, yes.”
Betty sucked in a breath of courage and peeled off the stained sweater. Thankfully, her white (unlucky, she had decided) lacy bralette would be suitable underneath the barely-considered-a-shirt. She felt Veronica’s dark eyes on her, watching as she slipped the garment on over her head. Betty tugged it down gently, it only hit the top waist of her jeans.
Veronica reached out a hand to snap the price tag off, tossing it into the empty front seat. “There, oh you have to keep it, it looks perfect on you.”
The blonde smoothed a hand down her somewhat exposed stomach, wishing she were thinner or more toned. “Sure. Thanks, Veronica.”
“You’re quite welcome, darling. Nothing bores friendship quicker than the sharing of clothes and gossiping over boys. So one down, one to go.”
Betty couldn’t help the smile blooming across her face at Veronica’s words. She could use a friend. L.A. had been a lonely place the past two years, which did nothing to help her anxiety.
“Of course, I’m looking forward to it. We’ll be spending a lot of time together after all.”
The other girl smiled back, tucking glossy black hair behind her ear. “Indeed, we might as well make the best of it.” she paused, checking the fancy was fastened around her delicate wrist. “We are incredibly late now, darling. We had better hurry along before Toni sinks her teeth into us.”
Betty nodded, climbing out the car door as gracefully as she could with shaking hands. Veronica had saddled up to her side, linking their arms together as they walked. Feeling a burst of adoration for the girl Betty felt she had wrongly judged in the past (she grew up watching Disney channel, after all) she vowed not to judge any of the other actors based on the same principle.
The ease of being by Veronica’s side made her nerves calm until they were in front of the appropriate conference room door. A wicked smirk graced the raven-haired girl’s features and she disentangled their arms. A dainty platform heeled foot kicked the door in with surprising force for such a small girl.
It had Betty stepping back, hiding away from the doorframe a ways, eyes darting around the room and taking in the scene. It looks like they had already started the read through, and the ball of nerves in her stomach started to grow again.
She did not think it would ever leave her.

When Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper were cast as leads for HBO’s Harry Potter prequel show Magic is Might, they thought they did not know each other. They were wrong.

THE WAYWARD PRINCE:
The thing about Jughead Jones — he was weird, and he liked to be weird.
Jughead Jones was the following things: adroit wordsmith, razor-sharp, and a smart-mouthed asshole. He was not, however, the sort a teenage girl’s dreams were made of. He was a little too tall and a little too angular with a face that was a little too fond of scowling to be conventionally attractive. He had two girlfriends in the span of his entire life, and first one he’d acquired when he was nine for the span of two days. He was akin to a scalpel — sharp-edged, clinical, and very good at cutting people out of his life.
Except, Sabrina.
Never Sabrina.
And because of Sabrina — he was here, regretting everything.
“This,” Jughead grumbled for the nth time, “is all your fault.”
“Yes,” Sabrina agreed, throwing a dusky-blue button-down at him with a glare that clearly conveyed wear this or else, “it is my fault that you’ve landed the biggest television role of this year. I apologise for being magnificent.”
Jughead snorted. “Potter is the lead.”
“Who cares? Sirius is obviously meant to be the hot one. That makes his role the bigger fish. And you,” Sabrina said, tilting his head sideways and inspecting the carelessly casual style she arranged his hair in (read: brushed once and let it air-dry), “cousin-german, will soon be smiling from a poster on every pubescent girl’s wall and be the main feature in their dreams.”
“If it’s all the same to you,” Jughead’s scowl grew deeper, a feat he had not imagined was achievable before he’d done it. “I’d rather not.”
Two hours later, two thirds of which were spent navigating L.A.’s atrocious traffic, Jughead found himself lounging in a deceptively comfortable egg chair in a Hollywood studio, waiting to proceed with the first script reading session with the rest of Magic is Might cast. Sabrina, primly perched to his right, was scanning the others over the brim of her rapidly cooling coffee cup with shrewd, pale-grey eyes, as Jughead lazily thumbed through the script.
“Stop eyeing them like you want to wear their faces as a mask, Ree,” he muttered out of the corner of his mouth.
“I am so not. I’m eyeing them like I want to make a fashionable skin suit, obviously. Get your facts straight, Jones.”
Here was the thing; — Jughead firmly believed that if you did something, you better put your best foot forward from the start; to do your very best at everything you undertook and not half-ass it simply because it required effort. (Life required effort, Jughead often reminded himself, if it didn’t it wouldn’t be so damn difficult.)
This stance seemed at odds with his disaffected and cynical slacker persona, but what could Jughead say — he was contrary like that. He could remain apathetic and be a pedantic perfectionist at heart; he had layers, like a lasagna.
But precisely that sort of attitude had landed him the lead role in Magic is Might as Sirius Black.
It had happened nine days ago, when Jughead had accompanied Sabrina to her second audition for Magic is Might — she had failed to get Lily Evans’s role and was trying out for Narcissa Black. Jughead was there for emotional support, for the sort of get your shit together, you walking waste of space pep-talks Sabrina and he excelled at. He was there to permit his hand to be crushed in a vice grip as she waited for her name to be called, and to take her to Wildflower Café by their apartment to gorge on breakfast foods and stuff their faces with toasted marshmallow milkshakes in the face of another disappointment.
Jughead Jones was, by profession, a screenwriter; he wrote seven plays, one of which had been actually made into a film. He was not an actor. The universe disagreed, however. Kevin fucking Keller disagreed, too, apparently, because the moment Jughead had walked up to a dumbfounded-looking Sabrina after her audition — handkerchief at the ready, just in case — he’d been spotted by Kevin fucking Keller’s eagle-eyed stare. Kevin fucking Keller who’d taken one look at Jughead, pointed his finger at him and with eyedrum piercing snap, barked out, “You, there — in here, now.” and Sabrina, that fucking traitor, had pushed him forward into the audition room.
It was serendipitous he knew the script like the back of his hand, having practiced with Sabrina until they were blue in the face, it was also fortuitous his reaction in the face of sheer audacity was to fall back on his most defining traits — sarcasm and generally all-around fuck-you attitude.
Both, as it had turned out, were great characteristics for one Sirius Black.
So here he was, Forsythe Pendleton Jones the third, newly minted actor extraordinaire with no education about the craft and enough talent, according to Keller, to fill the Pacific ocean and then some — out of his depth, and feeling utterly displaced.
It was a peculiar feeling, foreign and unwelcome — Jughead hated it with the blazing ebullition of pure abhorrence.
“Hey,” Sabrina called, soft as a whisper, placing her hand on his knee, stilling it. Jughead hadn’t realised his left leg had been bouncing. “Relax, bro-bro.”
Jughead opened his mouth to reply something along the lines of Shut it, hambone, but was interrupted when a tall shadow of a small person fell across his lap.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Mad Max himself,” commented a small, red-headed girl on berry-red charged murder-weapons on the lam from the law and thus posing as women’s footwear. “So, tall, dark, and inexperienced, how does it feel to finally be in the real show biz?”
There was a refractory set to Jughead’s clenched jaw, so Sabrina answered in his stead, snickering, “I don’t know Big Red, you tell us?”
The girl’s exceedingly red mouth was reset out of its perpetually sullen pout into a grimace of distaste. “For a virtual nobody, you sure have a mouth on you, Emily Strange.”
There were four rules Jughead Jones instinctively followed whenever he chose to speak: Was he being rational? Was he being truthful? Were his words necessary? Were they kind? Often times, if he had not met all of his criteria, Jughead would settle on keeping his silence a while longer.
This, was not such a time.
“Is that all you can do,” Jughead found himself rasping out, “try your utmost to diss people with painfully obvious references? You’re not doing a very good job, are you?”
“You’re a pretty cool customer, huh?”
“I hide my inner pain underneath a stoic visage,” Jughead quipped. Cheryl Blossom looked like would like nothing more than to dig her claws red-tipped into Jughead’s stoic visage.
“Hey, guys,” said a guy in corduroy slacks and a blue-yellow varsity jacket of all things; he was average-height, but with a Heroic Build identifying him as James Potter material. There was a hint of admonishment in his tone, but not enough to reign anyone in. “We’re supposed to be getting along…”
Jughead was utterly unsurprised when he was promptly ignored.
Big Red sneered down on them and with a snazzy flip of gloriously red hair, pointedly perched on the corner of the oval table. Then, she extended a bedazzled with a shape of a cherry phone Jughead didn’t realise she held in front of her on a selfie-stick, and with that godawful pout, began, “See, my lovely cherries, when presented with a choice between either Tim Burton Junior and his blonde Fran Bow or a ginger Kelly Clarkson, Cheryl Bombshell has no choice but to choose herself. I certainly hope their acting is better than their personalities because those are as parched as a dry spell.”
“Oi, Cherry Bomb!” a female producer barked sharply, the one with pink-striped hair and a punk attitude, “don’t fucking live blog a closed script reading, you imbecile!”
“Don’t call me that!” Cheryl Blossom snarled, teeth unnaturally white against the vivid red of her mouth. “How are my cherries supposed to know what I’m doing at any given moment if I don’t blog about it?”
“I don’t know,” Jughead grumbled, too low to be heard by anyone but Sabrina, who promptly elbowed him in the ribs, “maybe try not to seek validation from a faceless mass of people online?” said the kettle to the pot, he mentally added.
The woman with the pink hair was even shorter than Cheryl, but when she stood up, she cut an impressively intimidating figure nonetheless. “This,” she growled, “is what we get for casting a bloody Instagram starlet.”
“She’s a solid choice, Toni,” Keller admonished, softly, gingerly prying away her fingers off his bicep, “she can act and her hair is iconic. What more could we ask for?”
“A fucking professional attitude for one. And maybe,” Topaz, that was her name, Jughead finally remembered, pointedly shouted in red-head’s direction, “not to always pout like she’s about to suck dick.”
Cheryl Blossom looked up from the highly-focused examination of her razor-sharp talons she’d been performing and pouted. “I don’t suck dick on sheer principle, you grotsky little byotch.”
Varsity Jacket raised his hands in placation. “Okay, seriously, maybe you should—”
“Toni, go smoke a fag and find your chill,” cut in Keller, and her hand immediately shot up, giving him the middle finger, but she left the room nonetheless. “And Cheryl, take it down a notch. I’m serious, you hear me?”
Cheryl turned away from him with a huff, but she hadn’t said anything. Instead, she began typing away furiously on her phone.
Huh, thought Jughead.
Kevin Keller was not a tough guy, he noticed, he did not have a commanding presence. Even Varsity Jacket drew more attention to himself with his ridiculous floppy hair, freckled face, and All-American attitude. But, Jughead decided, Kevin Keller understood women. With that in mind, Jughead settled back in his chair, reading over the script yet again.
It was fifteen minutes later when Toni Topaz strode into the room, her combat boots practically abusing the dotted, grey linoleum with the force of her steps, not looking an iota less stressed. “Fuck it,” she announced, “if we wait anymore for those two, we’ll get behind schedule.”
“All right, then,” Keller said, clapping his hands, “places, everyone.”
Like the asshole she was, Sabrina took the seat assigned to him, next to Varsity Jacket, and switched their name planks with a wink. Jughead had neither the inclination nor the naiveté to question her choices, so he dragged the chair he had been sitting for the last half-an-hour towards the table by its back, and positioned himself on Sabrina’s left, straightening the SIRIUS BLACK plaque so it was uniformly aligned with all the others.
The plague before a lounging Cheryl Blossom did not read BITCH FROM HELL, much to Jughead’s surprise, instead, it said — LILY EVANS.
A thought streaked across the forefront of his mind: We are all royally fucked.
Varsity Jacket’s named turned out to be Archie Andrews. Jughead knew that now because the first words out of that kid’s mouth were, quite literally, “Hey, there. I’m Archie Andrews, I’m eighteen, you may know me from last year’s 16 Birthday Wishes, and I look forward to working with ya all.”
Jughead could not have conjured this kid up had he even tried. He shared a concerned glance with Sabrina who mouthed, is he for real? and Jughead only had the energy to shrug. Yeah, he decided, he could see this Archie Andrews as one James Potter. If he squinted.
Cheryl Blossom did not introduce herself. She scowled at all of them, even poor golden retriever puppy personified Andrews, called them philistines, and proceeded with reading her lines. Interesting development: she could act. Expected conclusion: she packed too much malice into her lines and came of ass passive aggressive. Keller had to intermediately correct her. That was, however, a correctable quality she could redeem herself from with enough effort; or so Sabrina had said, Jughead’s inescapable, little-devil-on-the-shoulder-type expert on all things acting™.  
When it was his turn to read, Jughead did what he always did when he read out loud his scripts during editing: tried his damndest not to stutter, keeping his voice smooth and even, and detached himself from the situation, rendering himself utterly impervious to nerves and apprehension. It was not Jughead Jones who had been reciting the script from memory as the lines printed on paper streamed before his eyes in a confusing, maddening swirl — it had been Sirius Black doing all those things; teasing his friend James, flirting with prim and proper Lily, arguing with Narcissa.
Disassociating might have kept Jughead’s anxiety at bay, but it made Sirius Black come alive.
So, of course, once Jughead had gotten into the swing of things, the universe rained on his parade: the door slammed open, revealing two girls standing on the other side of its frame.
“Oooops,” said the shorter one, her dark hair reflecting light attractively as she stode in the room. She had not sounded particularly sorry, Jughead noticed. “Apologies, hadn’t meant to barge in quite so—”
“Veronica,” Toni cut in, as bitingly as a wolf, “you were supposed to be here half-an-hour ago!”
“That late, huh,” muttered Veronica assumingly Lodge, flipping her wrist to check the slim, diamond-encrusted watch on her left hand. “Apologies, Toni, darling, but L.A. traffic is simply odious, as you well know. Got held up.”
“By what — appearance of abominable snowman in the middle of Franklin Avenue?”
“Not quite,” Veronica replied, a sly not-quite smile settling on her face, “Betty and I—”
“Of course, you had hamstrung Cooper, too.” Toni cast a dirty look over Veronica’s shoulder at a willowy, nervous-looking blonde still hesitating in the doorway. “Don’t think I haven’t noticed you there, princess.”
“Well, as I was saying, Betty and I,” continued Veronica Lodge, bulldozing over Toni completely and out of the corner of his eye, Jughead could see Call Me, Archie Andrews’s jaw unhinge a little, “were late completely by accident, but it was all my fault. Let’s just say, a Lodge doesn’t always land on their feet.
“Still, I had to amend such an insufferable grievance,” Veronica smiled, charmingly, still sly as a fox. “Imagine how tickled pink I was to learn we are not only headed into the same building, but for the same script reading—”
“To which you are late; both of you,” grumbled Toni, but she seemed to have lost most of her heat. Kevin was rubbing her shoulders soothingly as she massaged her temples. Momentarily, Jughead wondered if she was prematurely grey beneath all that pink dye.
“—long story, short: Betty here,” Veronica said, stepping back and drawing the taller girl into her side. “Is my new BFF and I love her to pieces.”
“From a five minute meeting,” Kevin asked, corner of his mouth twitching.
“Boo, you whore,” teased Veronica, earning an unexpect snort from Sabrina, “it’s love at first sight. Don’t judge.” Then:
“You there,” Veronica snapped her fingers in the direction of a fish-eyed assistant Jughead took care to ignore — she’d been making moon-eyes at him, according to Sabrina, and there were times to be wary of his cousin’s advice, but not in instances such as this one. “Fetch me a skinny venti white mocha, one shot, with two pumps of sugarfree vanilla, no whip — pronto. I can’t think clearly without my daily recommended injection of sugar and caffeine.”
Immediately, the situation dissolved into absolute bedlam as everyone clamoured for Ginger’s attention to place their coffee order, too. She’s a sly one, Jughead thought for the third time, smart, too.
Here was the thing about Jughead Jones: he was an objective observer of life, not an active participator. An introvert and a borderline misanthrope, he regarded the world from a safe distance of cool, clinical detachment — he watched and he recorded and he understood because he noticed enough to pay attention in the first place; he was perceptive, and he used this to his advantage. 
This girl, however, totally threw him for a loop.
And as if enticed by a magnetic pull, Jughead’s eyes drifted towards the leggy blonde to his right. The first thing he noticed her was this — she was uncomfortable. The second was that she was seemed nervous, displaced; and third — well, she was making her way towards him.
The girl was dressed in a diaphanous, intricately embroidered, sapphire-coloured blouse, and when she shifted to pull out her chair, Jughead could see her laced brassiere through the silk material. Unexpectedly, she sat next to him, across from a plaque reading REMMY LUPIN. She had a striking look — blue-eyed and golden-haired with a face like a porcelain doll’s; wide-eyed, lovely, and haunting in its stillness. I met a lady on a moore, Jughead though, aureate hair, refulgent eyes; a dancing, starry sprite.
“Hi,” she greeted, turning to him, face splitting into a blooming, honeyed smile, white teeth gleaming, the streaming sunlight from the window behind them set her braid into a molten blaze, “I’m Betty.”

THE DREAMER:
“Three creams, two splenda, please.”
Betty Cooper was already running (hopefully, fashionably) late; not exactly a good first impression. She had woken up behind schedule (she had sort of fallen into the black hole that was Tumblr, recently, and had taken to staying up late); her cat, Caramel, had thrown up all over the kitchen floor. One side of her hair had dried flatter than the other — she was never going to bed straight from the shower ever again. And her uber had been running behind. Fantastic, she had uttered when finally arriving at the address given. The time on her phone alerting her that she should would have been inside already, had her morning gone accordingly, sipping on her coffee without a care in the world.
Well, that last bit was a stretch. If you asked anyone who knew her, they would say without a doubt that, Betty Cooper cared too much, about everything.
It was kind of her thing, though. Betty had a profound sense of perseverance and applied it to anyone in need of help that she came across. Polly (her older sister and recently, albeit somewhat regrettably, her manager) akined it to her being like a new mother, babying her fresh-faced ducklings. It often impeded her own desires and well-thought out plans.
Betty was a goner for a schedule. She could plan her day like nobody’s business — rarely did it ever actually go according to plan though. She would describe herself as being meticulous bordering the edge of perfectionist — Betty actually detested that word. Being in control of the situation, however, gave her life.
This was all new to her though, at least, fairly. Acting, that is.
She had been on edge of booking a flight back to San Francisco for what seemed like months. With only $200 to her name, and a can of cold soup sitting like a rock in her belly, Betty had auditioned for a role in Magic is Might. She had been failing auditions for months, her savings account was gone, and she was exhausted from working two menial jobs in order to have money to even go to auditions.
So, by all accounts, Betty figured an extra boost of caffeine was in order to make it through the whirlwind day that had been plotted ahead. A table read with her cast mates of Magic is Might, who she had yet to meet, was slotted for the whole day. As well as some promotional pictures of the group. The whole thing came together rather quickly for an HBO show, as she understood. Betty would be forever grateful that they hadn’t found anyone for the part of Remus Lupin yet.
Somehow, her name had been misspelled (she wanted to glare at Polly) and they thought it had said Elizander, on her papers. Whoever had been manning the audition hadn’t done a thorough look-through at the time and had barely looked up at her, just shooed her through the door. They seemed desperate.
To be fair, she hadn’t realized that the part of Remus was male. Of course, she had read the Harry Potter books, who hasn’t? But Polly had simply implored her to get her ass to this audition, without much else to go on.
Everyone had stared at her when she entered the room, but the guy in the middle of the group seated before her had stood up, planting his hands on the table with a loud smack.
“Excuse me, this isn’t —”
“No, excuse me, but that was incredibly rude.” A blush bloomed across her chest, streaking upwards, despite her outward display of confidence. “I’m here to audition, so let me audition before turning me away.”
It turns out that the man was Kevin Keller, one of the showrunners. Betty had desperately wanted to curl into a ball from mortification when she found out, but instead she had been engulfed in a hug while he had exclaimed “Such fire!”, and had let her do the audition.  
They had complimented her afterwards. Apparently she had an inner voice that matched Remus’s suppressed darkness à la werewolf unequivocally. They were going to change the character and rework the script for her. Betty was unperturbed usually, but she had been floored by their sentiments.
Now, granted, they had done the same thing for the character of Snape, but that was for Veronica Lodge — ex-disney starlet who had bowed out of the limelight for several years only to return and turn everyone’s heads when she demanded the part of Severus Snape.
Betty mussed her life was going to be very different from here on out (assuming the show gets picked up after the contingent episodes), but she was looking forward to not cringing every time they ran her card through a register. She loved food, and coffee was a vice she wasn’t willing to give up.
In L.A. there seemed to be a Starbucks on just about every godforsaken block, so she had been thankful there was one conveniently close to the building she was now ardently walking toward. Betty was practically jogging as she took a sip of her drink, the mouthful of cold coffee was sweet and creamy. It was really refreshing — had she not just spilled it all over her shirt when someone plowed into her shoulder, jarring the cup from her hand.
Betty had stood frozen in place, her muscles turning tense as she panicked. Of course she had worn her favorite outfit today. Her pale pink sweater was now sticking to her skin uncomfortably, but thankfully there were only a few drops on her jeans — the dark color of them would prevent a stain from being noticeable, but her sweater…
“Oh my god, fuck, I am so sorry.”
Betty looked up from where she was still staring at her coffee soaked front, hand crushing the now empty cup. She blinked owlishly at the girl who had spoken. A dark haired girl with an equally empty cup, however stain free clothes — impeccable, by the way, in front of her. Small hands covered in white lace gloves (really? The urge to roll her eyes was strong) were reaching out for her and grabbing hold of her arm, gently albeit forcefully. Betty had no choice but to be tugged along and out of the path of the ravenous L.A. goers on the sidewalk.
“It’s… fine, really,” Betty hadn’t wanted to use the word, but there wasn’t anything else on the tip of her tongue. “I’m running late to my read through anyway, I should —”
Veronica interrupted her, raising her impeccably arched brows even higher. “Read through? As in, script?”
Nodding, Betty looked up to the tall glass front building they were almost in front of. She had been so close…
“Well, I think we’re headed to the same place then. Veronica Lodge,” the raven haired girl extended her glove covered hand and Betty raised her hand that wasn’t a sticky mess to shake it. Veronica continued, “pleasure to meet you…” she trailed off and Betty interjected.
“Betty Cooper.”
“Betty, allow me to offer you a new blouse, I simply can’t let you in there like that.”
Betty had started to shake her head, fingers itching to reach up and tighten her ponytail, but alas, she realized, she had worn her hair in a loose braid that brushed the edges of her collarbone. “No, that’s okay, you don’t have to do that.” she waved a hand, tossing her empty cup into the trash bin they had stopped by.
“I insist. Come,” it wasn’t up for debate anymore, that white glove grabbing Betty’s wrist again and pulling her toward a sleek black car that was parked some spaces down. “Don’t worry about being late, if we both are then they really can’t do anything about it.“
Betty was surprised that the words didn’t sound pretentious coming from the other girls mouth, but humble. Veronica had pulled her inside the car, instructing her to pull the door closed. She hesitated before doing so, the door shutting with a soft click. She never thought being in a car alone with Veronica Lodge would ever be on her agenda, but here she was, with a collection of delicate tops spread over their laps that were distinctly not at all Betty’s style.
But beggars couldn’t be choosers.
Her green-blue eyes examined the choices carefully, taking in the price tags still dangling from them. Her throat was dry, her swallow surely audible. Everything was more-than-her-rent expensive. Plucking the one with the smallest numbers up, a transparent (okay maybe she had made a mistake here…) sapphire-blue blouse with colorful embroidered flowers, “This one is great,” she smiled at Veronica.
“Oh, excellent choice. Can’t go wrong with Derek Lam 10.”
She scrunched her nose up, fingering the material. Veronica had leant back against the seat, arms crossed expectantly. Betty glanced around to the car windows. “You want me to change here?”
“I expect you too, yes.”
Betty sucked in a breath of courage and peeled off the stained sweater. Thankfully, her white (unlucky, she had decided) lacy bralette would be suitable underneath the barely-considered-a-shirt. She felt Veronica’s dark eyes on her, watching as she slipped the garment on over her head. Betty tugged it down gently, it only hit the top waist of her jeans.
Veronica reached out a hand to snap the price tag off, tossing it into the empty front seat. “There, oh you have to keep it, it looks perfect on you.”
The blonde smoothed a hand down her somewhat exposed stomach, wishing she were thinner or more toned. “Sure. Thanks, Veronica.”
“You’re quite welcome, darling. Nothing bores friendship quicker than the sharing of clothes and gossiping over boys. So one down, one to go.”
Betty couldn’t help the smile blooming across her face at Veronica’s words. She could use a friend. L.A. had been a lonely place the past two years, which did nothing to help her anxiety.
“Of course, I’m looking forward to it. We’ll be spending a lot of time together after all.”
The other girl smiled back, tucking glossy black hair behind her ear. “Indeed, we might as well make the best of it.” she paused, checking the fancy was fastened around her delicate wrist. “We are incredibly late now, darling. We had better hurry along before Toni sinks her teeth into us.”
Betty nodded, climbing out the car door as gracefully as she could with shaking hands. Veronica had saddled up to her side, linking their arms together as they walked. Feeling a burst of adoration for the girl Betty felt she had wrongly judged in the past (she grew up watching Disney channel, after all) she vowed not to judge any of the other actors based on the same principle.
The ease of being by Veronica’s side made her nerves calm until they were in front of the appropriate conference room door. A wicked smirk graced the raven-haired girl’s features and she disentangled their arms. A dainty platform heeled foot kicked the door in with surprising force for such a small girl.
It had Betty stepping back, hiding away from the doorframe a ways, eyes darting around the room and taking in the scene. It looks like they had already started the read through, and the ball of nerves in her stomach started to grow again.
She did not think it would ever leave her.

Chapter 6. Happy New Year
I do not own Harry Potter or the characters created by Rowling
So, I know in the first chapter I said that Anneliese has black hair, I actually meant to change that before I posted it, but I can be really forgetful. She actually had her hair dyed a reddish brown and by the beginning of Christmas break her hair was down to her shoulders and flipped out, kinda like Tracy’s hair from Hairspray (the 2007 version), and the hair dye had faded out into her natural light brown hair.
Plus, I wanted there to be a little bit of stuff from others POV, I was mostly doing a 3rd person with Albus, but I’m throwing some other people in there. It will be important for later dates

Chapter 6. Happy New Year
Albus sat on the couch in the living room. It was the 31st and he was waiting for Scorpius and Anneliese to arrive. He sighed as he flipped through the pages of the comic his aunt had gotten him. She tried to talk to him about Rose when she gave it to him, but he got out of the talk by claiming he was needed somewhere else. 
He heard the roar of the fireplace and he looked up, he saw the dirty blonde hair of his friend appear. Albus sat the book down and stood up, “Hey Scorp!”
Scorpius smiled and stepped out of the fire, “Hey Al, how’re you doing?”
“Good, you?”
“Same, so are we just waiting for A?”
“No, no you are not.”
“Oh my god.” Albus gaped at Anneliese. “Your hair!”
Her hand instinctively raised up to her hair. “Oh, yeah, asked my aunt to cut and dye it. You don’t like it do you?” The smile on her face fell slowly.
“No, I like it, it’s cute. It’s...you!” She smiled again, “Honestly, not many people can rock half shaved hair, but you look good with it.”
Scorpius nodded, “He’s right, it suits you.”
“Good because I like it.” She looked around, “What room are we in?”
“Our living room, c’mon, let me show you my room.” They followed Albus out of the room and up the stairs. He stopped when he reached the door. “So, my sister, Lily, will be home in, maybe an hour or two. That’s her room, she said that you can stay in there if you feel more comfortable, mum also said you guys can stay in the extra rooms as well.” He opened the door and let them in, “It’s not much, but it’s comfortable.”
“I like it, but it’s just so….” Scorpius started, but he couldn’t seem to find the right word.
“Gryffindor.” Anneliese stated easily, “So not you.”
Albus shrugged, “It’s been like this my whole life, I never really noticed or cared. Maybe I'll ask mum and dad if I can repaint it over the summer”
“It's up to you, and I'm not surprised that you never noticed, you never notice anything.” She walked over to his desk and picked up the radio, “I have one of these.” She turned back to Albus, “My mum always has been interested in Muggle things, anything that can play music she has fallen in love with. I have one in my room.”
Albus nodded, “There’s more muggle technology downstairs if you’d like to see.” They walked out of his room and back down the stairs. \

“I don’t understand muggle sports.”
“I don’t understand sports in general so I beat you. Well, that is unless you count dancing, gymnastics, ice skating, or ice skating a sport, then I understand it.”
Albus shook his head at his two friends, “Of course that’s all you understand L.”
She shrugged, “They’re less dangerous and make more sense then Quidditch, Futball, Soccer, Tennis, and other sports.”
Everyone jumped when they heard the front door slam. “Lily?! Is it you?!”
Soon later Lily came into the room, her face was red from running in the cold, tear marks stained her face. She ran over to Albus and he instinctively wrapped his arms around her. “I hate her.”
“Who Lils?”
“Maria.”
“What happened?”
She sniffed, “She made fun of the fact that you and James go to Hogwarts, but since she believes it’s just a fancy private school, she said that it’s probably a centre for troubled youth and called you strange and then called me weird!”
“Oh Lily,” He murmured.
“Then she told me I look horrible and then said things about daddy’s scar and I wanted to tell her why he had it but she wouldn’t stop talking and making fun of me!”
“Lily, I’m so sorry that she did that to you...well, if it’ll make you feel any better, you can hang out with me and my friends. I’m sure they’ll be okay with it,” He looked over at his two friends, “Won’t you?”
Scorpius just nodded and Anneliese spoke, “Of course! Now I won’t feel alone as being a female!” Making everyone laugh, she walked over to Lily, “Us girls gotta stick together,” She held her hand out to Lily, “I’m Anneliese.”
Lily smiled, “I’m Lily!”
“What a pretty name.”
“I was named after my grandmother! Hey, do you know the muggle movie Barbie: Princess and the Pauper?”
“Of course! I babysit some of the little kids in the town near where I live and I’ve seen it about a dozen times! Wanna hear something cool?” Lily nodded, “My middle name is Erika. “Wow! That’s so cool!”
She nodded softly, Scorpius walked over to Lily, “I’m Scorpius.”
Lily shyly smiled, the blush that came to her face was only noticed by Anneliese. “Hi.”
Anneliese smirked and held back a small laugh. Little Lily had a crush and it was painfully obvious to the elder girl.

Everyone was getting their pajamas on before they were walking downstairs to watch the countdown for the next year. Albus and Scorpius were sharing Albus’s room while Lily and Anneliese were sharing Lily’s room (mostly because Lily begged for Anneliese to be with her). Anneliese was slipping a shirt on while Lily was reading a magazine. “Anneliese?” The other girl looked at her, “How...how is Albus doing?”
“What do you mean?”
She shrugged, “I don’t know, I just overheard my family talking on Christmas Eve night. Uncle Ron was saying things about Al being in Slytherin. I don’t get why he hates them so much, what did they do wrong?”
The black haired girl sat across from the small redhead. “How much do you know about the Wizarding Wars?”
“I know that many died and that it was a terrible event, why is that important?”
“Just wait, do you know what Voldemort’s followers were called?”
She nodded and Anneliese motioned for her to say, “Death Eaters.”
“Good, well, the majority of them were from Slytherin house. It’s a stereotype that all Slytherins are evil. I bet he’s upset because Al befriended a Malfoy, the Malfoy’s were big Voldemort supporters. Lucius Malfoy went to jail because of it. Draco Malfoy was tasked to kill Dumbledore, but he didn’t. But, Narcissa Malfoy, she saved your dads’ life. She lied to Voldemort and said he was dead, just because he told her that her son, Draco, was alive and okay.”
“But just because they were like that then doesn’t mean they still are.”
“I know, but some people can’t see past that.”
She sighed, “I’m happy that Al met you two, he seems happier than he was before he left.” 
Anneliese smiled softly, “I know, even on the train, he seemed miserable.” Then she sighed, “Has he always had a bad relationship with James?”
She nodded, “Yeah, they always fought. Never did it physical like it does now though. When mum and dad were talking about it when they started to happen-”
“Wait, physically? I just knew of their verbal fights, never did I know they got physical.”
Lily nodded, “Yeah, a few weeks ago James broke Albus’s nose even, apparently, according to James, that was because Albus ‘attacked’ Rose. I know she attacked him first, he was only defending himself.”
Anneliese let out a breath, “Huh, I never knew, Al just said that he ran into a wall in the dungeons, which isn’t surprising because well, it’s Al.”
Lily laughed, “Omg, we have a treehouse in the backyard and when we were little he fell out of it while trying to climb out and broke his arm. He also broke his leg from falling down the stairs.”
Anneliese began to laugh, “Why can I see that happening?”
Lily just shrugged her shoulders and died her laughing down. “What time is it?”
Looking at her watch she immediately bolted up, “11:58!”
Lily’s eyes widened and they both ran out of her room. They ran down the stairs, almost tripping on the way down. Making it into the room just as the 30 second countdown started. “You guys almost missed it.”
They rolled their eyes and Anneliese swatted at Albus’ arm. The 10 second countdown started and they all counted down. 10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1, Harry and Ginny shared a kissed, along with Victoire and Teddy, who decided to come over a few hours back. “A year closer to going to Hogwarts.” Anneliese heard Lily say softly while she heard Albus and Scorpius mutter, “A year closer to graduating.” She just rolled her eyes and the boys and gave Lily a side hug.

It was the next morning. Albus was laying in his bed, staring up at the ceiling. Reflecting on his last year. Getting accepted into Hogwarts, meeting the two best people, being put in Slytherin, his family hating him just because of his house. Sure, not all of it was fun, but the majority of it was.
There was a knock at his door and then it opened, “Albus? Are you and Scorpius up?” He sat up when Ginny asked the question, “Okay, well, if Scorpius isn’t up, then maybe wake him up in about 30 minutes. I’m making breakfast. Lily and Anneliese are downstairs playing Wizards Chess and James left about an hour ago.”
“What time is it?”
“It’s 10 am sweetheart.” Albus nodded and she left the room. He crawled over his bed and shook Scorpius’ shoulder.
“Dude, wake up, moms making breakfast.”
Scorpius shot up, “Food?”
Albus laughed at his friend. His dirty blonde hair was sticking out everywhere. “Yes, food. It’s 10 am. Apparently James left and the girls are downstairs.”
Scorpius scratched the back of his head, “We probably should get down there then, should we?”
Albus shrugged, “It’s up to you man.”
He got up and off the blow-up mattress, “Then let’s go.”

It had been two hours since his friends left. He and Lily were playing a muggle game called Go Fish. That was until James’ voice appeared, “Are you done investing the house with snakes?”
Albus rolled his eyes, “Are you done being a dumbass?”
“Y’know, mum and dad are fighting with our family because of you. Did you know that? I overheard mum and Aunt Hermione complaining about dad and Uncle Ron fighting over your house.”
“Well at least I don’t pick fights with people who don’t do anything. 3s?”
“Go fish. 7s?”
“Are you just going to ignore me?”
“Actually, I’m being factual, something you don’t understand. Here.”
Before James could continue Ginny walked in, “Is everything alright?” She looked at Lily, “Lily?”
“Oh, James was just saying some stuff to Albus, but yeah, everything's fine.” Ginny nodded and left the room. “Y’know James, would it hurt you to be nice for once in your life?”
“Would it hurt you to take my side for once?”
“I take the side of those who are right and don’t deserve to get shit said to them.” Instead of continuing to argue, he stormed out of the room. “Baby.” Lily looked up at Albus, “You okay?”
He nodded, scared to use his words. Scared that if he did, he would cry.

I’ve been wanting to do a Harry Potter read through for a while now but have never really had a lot of time and…frankly I don’t know if I can really add a lot to the discussion that hasn’t already been said. But to heck with it! May as well! XD
Quick warning: I have read the series countless times – this is NOT my first read through and I WILL make frequent references to things that occur in future books – possibly as well as Pottermore, companion books and JK Rowling’s comments in interviews and on her twitter.
If you have somehow not read the series yet, please do not read this! Instead, I would highly recommend reading the books. Once you have inevitably fallen in love with the series, come back to me and we can gush about it together! :D
Quick introduction if you’re reading this and have no idea who I am, I’m Leigh! I’m a Hufflepuff and my patronus is a mink. I never actually did the Ilvermorny test – I considered it but if I was to attend one of the great schools, I would be attending Hogwarts (or Queen Maeve’s school if that’s still around. Personally I like to believe it is. The big ones we have names for ARE just the most prestigious after all). Anyhow, basically I just never bothered with finding my Ilvermorny house as it wouldn’t really apply to me anyhow….
Anyway, lets just jump into this! I plan on reviewing a chapter at a time for the moment. I don’t know how often I’ll post new reviews but I’m aiming to do 1 a week for now J (although I imagine it’d take me years to cover the series at that pace so hopefully I will post more often than that at times).
Chapter 1 – The boy who lived.
One of the very few non-Harry POV chapters (I think 5? Poor Frank Bryce in the beginning of Goblet, The Other Minister in Half-Blood, Narcissa and Bellatrix’s meeting with Snape, also half blood and the death eater meeting in Hallows!). Actually, I think out of the five Other POV chapters, this might be my least favourite. Frank > The Other Minister > Narcissa & Snape > Death Eater Meeting > this one.
I think one thing that’s fascinating is just how young these characters are to be so..established. If I remember correctly, Petunia is a year younger than Lily who was 21 when she died. So Petunia’s 20, married, owns a house and has a one year old child. Which would also have made Petunia a teen mum – the sort of person that you would THINK the Dursleys would look down on.
“Mr Dursley was the director of a firm called Grunnings, which made drills.”
And as much as we all dislike the Dursleys, it is impressive how well Vernon has done in his career. I don’t think we’re ever given the impression that Vernon Dursley is much older than Petunia and yet he’s the director of his company. In his early 20s….man, does that make me feel like a complete an utter failure!
“Mrs. Potter was Mrs. Dursley’s sister, but they hadn’t met for several years; in fact, Mrs. Dursley pretended she didn’t have a sister.”
Casual reminder that for all Petunia’s seeming loathing for her sister, they were exchanging letters and gifts in secret. In many ways, Petunia and Vernon seem made for each other – apart from them both being pretty nasty, they do seem to work pretty well together as a couple; but the fact that her husband doesn’t even know that Petunia maintains correspondence with Lily also seems really…REALLY unhealthy!
I know JK is highlighting Dudley’s tantrum to contrast him against his sweet, angelic orphan cousin but considering Dudley’s a year old here, it seems rather ridiculous and judgmental on JO’S part to condemn him for this.
“wearing an emerald-green clock!”
There is a really fascinating piece on Pottermore called ‘Colours’ which everyone should read. Despite the rather uninteresting title, the content is really interesting. The most magical colours are purple (the colour that we see on Dumbledore most frequently, if I’m not mistaken) and green - green representing rebirth, death and misfortune. Apt clothing choice on the part of this wizard given Voldemort’s apparent death! J Later in this chapter, Vernon knocks into another wizard who is wearing a purple cloak.
“And the old man hugged Mr. Dursley around the middle and walked off”.
I don’t think Jo’s ever said who this old man is, but I low key headcanon that this was Dedalus Diggle, the wizard who bow to Harry in a shop when Harry was a child. We also know that that night, he was suspected to have been responsible for the shooting stars which appeared on the news.
Actually, rather aside from the point but given that Diggle and other wizards appear around Harry, I tend to assume that the blood connection charm around Harry and the Dursleys worked and  that Death Eaters and other followers of Voldemort would have tried and failed to attack Harry and Privet drive in Harry’s childhood unbeknownst to them.
“The newscaster allowed himself a grin. ”Most Mysterious.”
Ted Tonks you little shit! Someone’s enjoying being the only one in the station in the know as to what’s going on.
“Harry. Nasty, common name, if you ask me.”
Clearly Petunia wasn’t consulted by the Royal Palace considering this is ’81 and Prince Harry was born in ’84…actually because I’m a dummy with no life, I googled it. The name ‘Harry’ had been steadily declining in popularity since the 1940s. And then Prince Harry was born and for the first time in decades, the name became more popular. Petunia must have been furious!
Anywho, back to Potter!
Thank goodness JK retconned the ‘put-outer’, renaming it the Deluminator. Perhaps Dumbledore had only JUST invented it and was still looking for a good name!
Given that Mcgonagall says that the news of Voldemort’s demise at Harry’s hands are ‘rumors’ and rather than say that Voldemort is dead, opts for the word ‘disappeared’, it seems that, like Dumbledore, McGonagall doesn’t believe that Voldemort is dead. Hagrid later mentions that Dumbledore doesn’t believe that Voldemort is really dead – just biding his time, so it makes you wonder – has McGonagall since changed her mind or is she simply less vocal about her belief about Voldemort? Or is it JUST because McGonagall hasn’t come up at all in conversation yet?
McGonagall’s grief over Lily and James’ deaths really gets to me. She’s known them since they were 11. She’s watched them grow up. McGonagall is very motherly to Harry and the other kids in her house and I can only assume this was true for Lily and James too.
“We’ve had precious little to celebrate for eleven years”
and
“All this ‘You-Know-Who’ nonsense – for eleven years I have been trying to persuade people to call him by his proper name”
pretty clearly establishes that Voldemort was in power from the years 1970-1981. I don’t know if there’s any significance to the number ‘11’ but it is interesting that Voldemort first reappears in this book, when Harry is 11 years old.
I can’t help but wonder if Dumbledore’s golden watch has functions similar to Molly Weasley’s clock. Of course, it has planets on it rather than names or faces but perhaps that’s because it’s SUPPOSED to be rather cryptic. I think rather than family, on his watch are members of the Order. It allows him to see which Order members are travelling, dead or in ‘mortal peril’ and therefore he knows when they might need backup or when they’re travelling and therefore their mission might have gone on without a hitch. Therefore it’s very important that the watch only be understood by Albus least anything happen to him and the watch fall into the wrong hands. Maybe I’m thinking far too much about a watch which I don’t believe we ever see again but oh well! :D
A lot of people seem to believe Lily’s protection and the blood protection spell are the same thing. Just a reminder, Lily’s protection was cast over Harry with her death and prevents Voldemort from harming Harry. The protection spell links Harry to Privet Drive through Lily’s blood. It’s NOT part of Lily’s protection though. It was cast by Dumbledore and is in place as long as he calls Privet Drive home. And you know, if Dumbledore wasn’t such an ass, I’m sure he could’ve thought of a much better solution than tying Harry to the Dursleys. For example, Sirius. Sirius is Harry’s legal godfather. Surely he could’ve cast a spell that played on the legal aspect to tie Harry to someone who actually cared about his wellbeing and would see to it that Harry grew up in a happy, loving home – and you know, would actually tell Harry stories about Lily and James and show him photos of his parents….not that I’m bitter or anything Dumbles…
“Young Sirius Black lent it to me.”
As much as Cursed Child would like us to forget that Sirius was there, lets all remember that his world was falling apart as well. We know that the Marauders had fallen apart a little – none of them trusted Lupin and believed him to be the spy. So to find out that the only friends you have left were murdered and betrayed by your only other friends…I don’t blame Sirius for laughing hysterically when Peter escaped him the next day. What a great birthday eve for poor Sirius!
I know the fandom talks a lot about the missing hours between Hagrid picking Harry up from Godric’s Hallow in the morning and appearing with him at Privet Drive that night (personally I like the headcanon that Hagrid brought baby Harry to some celebratory parties as the guest of honour), but seriously, what about the missing hours between Voldemort killing Lily and James the night before (early enough for there to be children trick-or-treating for Voldemort to contemplate murdering) and the morning? No one, muggle or magical hears the explosion that destroyed the Potter house? Or the screaming baby that would’ve been lying in the rubble all night? Even if we assume that no one heard the explosion because of the fidelius charm (although the explosion was when he tried to kill Harry. The fidelius charm would’ve broken with James and Lilys’ deaths), NO ONE heard the screaming baby? NO ONE?! Bathilda was right next door – idk what sleeping pills she must’ve been on to have missed poor baby Harry all night but...any chance you could share some Bathilda? When my stress and anxiety is high, I get really bad insomnia. Pills strong enough to help you sleep through the next door house being blown up might be helpful.
“But I c-c-can’t stand it – Lily an’ James dead – an’ poor Harry off ter live with Muggles-“
Although Hagrid lives on the school grounds and the trio and Ginny are good friends with Hagrid, most of the kids at school don’t befriend Hagrid.  I think it’s sweet that Lily and James obviously seemed to have been pretty good friends with Hagrid as well – enough for Hagrid to mourn them rather than celebrate like most of the wizarding community are.

Seriously though, between the missing 24ish hours and Dumbledore leaving Harry on the doorstep overnight in early NOVEMBER, it’s nothing short of a miracle that baby Harry didn’t catch pneumonia...

Don’t Trust Dumbledore ch.28
Lucius’s POV
Lucius had sat in his library all night thinking over what he had learned. He couldn’t believe that Draco was in a different time. Let alone far enough back to being going to school with a young version of himself. It was almost madding to think about and a bit worrying, there were things in his past he would rather his son not know about it. He had spent a few hours after leaving Gringotts talking to people in places of power, a few Ministry workers and a Auror he knew was loyal to Dumbledore, hoping to learn anything about the Boy Who Lived disappearing. But he had found nothing. It seemed that like him, someone was hiding the fact that Potter had gone missing.
For now that was a good thing. It meant no one was looking to blame Draco for whatever imagined slights he might have done to Potter. Lucius was felt relieved that the only a small group of people knew about Draco’s disappearance. He wasn’t sure about the Weasley twins but they seemed to care for Potter, so he imagined they would keep quiet. As for Sev he trusted the man with his life and that of his son, he knew his old friend wouldn’t tell anyone. His wife didn’t know, Narcissa would cause problems if she found out. So he let her believe that Draco was fine at school.
As for the school, Luckily it has been Sev, that had noticed Draco missing. His son had missed Potions and Sev had gotten worried and had gone to look for him. When he couldn’t locate him he sent an owl straight away informing Lucius that his son was gone. Then he told that fool of a headmaster that the Malfoy heir had been sent home for a family emergency. For now the lie was believed. Lucius just hoped that the two boys returned before the truth got out.
He would have to think of contingencies for if it somehow got out that either boy was missing, and it was strange to him to be worrying about Potter. But his son, young and foolish has gone and befriended him, perhaps even loved, so for now he would do as his son asked.
Which meant he had a werewolf to track down and a meeting to attend. He wasn’t sure which made him cringe more a meeting with a werewolf or stepping foot into a Weasley home. Though he had to admit the twins had surprised him, they had joined him in the circle even before Sev. Which meant they held a great deal of loyalty and trust in the young Potter.
He sighed and stood from his chair, he couldn’t hide his library forever.
“Jexa.” He called out. A soft pop sounded and the house elf appeared. She bowed her head, “Yes Master?” She asked quietly. Her shy manner irritated him but she was Draco’s favorite, for some reason, so he never yelled at her for it.
“I need you to find Remus Lupin.” She looked up at him, “Yes Sir.” and with another pop she was gone.
While he let her search, he took a bath and changed.
While he was getting dressed, she appeared, “Found him, Master.” He nodded.
Hoping he didn’t regret this, he summoned the letter “Take me to him.”
Jexa took his arm and did the house elf version of apparition. He found himself standing just outside a small worn down building with a dark sign hanging over the door. It was a cafe he had never heard of, with a sigh he waved the elf off and entered the building. It took him a second of scanning the surprisingly crowded inside before he spotted the sandy haired man he was looking for.
The look of fear that crossed the man’s eyes as he approached the table made him feel uneasy. He held up his hand, “I’m here because of my son. I mean no harm. I swear.” The was a gently hum in the air as he made the promise. The wolf must have felt it because he relaxed and gestured to the seat across from him.  
Instead of saying anything he reached into his coat and pulled out the letter, then slide it across the table to the other man. Lupin looked unsure, but he picked it up and read it. It didn’t take long before the man looked up at him clearly confused, though it seemed the man was as smart as Lucius remembered because instead of demanding answers he stood up and grabbed his coat.
“Maybe we should talk somewhere else.” He said and waited for Lucius to stand. He nodded and got up. Once they were outside he turned to the man, “We can not go the the manor.” Lupin scoffed, “I know a place. If I may?” He asked raising his hand leaving it hanging just about Lucius’s arm. He didn’t like it, everything in his told him not to go with a potential enemy somewhere unknown. But he trusted his son,  he nodded, not missing the surprise in the wolf's eyes.
Lupin placed his hand on his arm and appreciated them. Lucius was surprised to find himself outside a small hut, on what looked like a empty beach. The smell of salt heavy in the air. He hated beaches the salt in the air tended to impact magic, making it harder to work. And when the door opened and very confused Sirius Black walked out, he understood why.
On instinct he grabbed his wand. He saw Black do the same. But before either of them could cast a hex, Lupin placed himself in the middle of them, his back to Lucius, facing his lifelong friend.
“He knows where Harry is.” The wolf said. Lucius wanted to roll his eyes, that was not a smartest way to start this conversation. Black growled, apparently getting the wrong idea.
“Padfoot. No.” Lucius head spun at the power of the command coming off the werewolf. Surprise didn’t cover how he felt, he had always assumed Lupin was a submissive wolf. The man was reserved, quiet, and shy in the way he seemed like to disappear into the background and let people forget he was there. But it seemed Lucius was mistaken, Black let out a whine and lowered his head.
“Interesting.” He whispered, Lupin look over his shoulder at him, eyes amber and narrowed. He understood the warning and bowed his head slightly. Respect not submission. Lupin nodded.
“Let’s take this inside.” Lupin said, moving forward shoving his friend back into the hut. He followed them inside, wondering how the truth spell would react. He had been given permission to tell Lupin but not Black.
“He might not be able to stay.” He said once he found himself in a sitting room. Lupin shoved Black down onto one of the chairs and pointed to the other, telling Lucius he could sit. He thought about not doing it but the place seemed clean and it would be impolite not too.
“Can’t stay for what?” Black asked, glaring at him.
“From what I can gather,” Lupin said sitting down next to his friend, “Harry and Draco are somewhere together, as friends,” he stressed looking at Black, “They sent a letter, and I am assuming you were only allowed to read it after stepping into a Truth Circle.” Lucius nodded.
“Somehow Draco placed in an expectation for telling me. Which is incredible,” the man grinned, “I wish I could have worked with him more. Brilliant student.” Lucius let himself smile.
“Anyways, I believe I should be able to read the letter out loud to Sirius. Then he can go make lunch in the kitchen while you give me the rest of the details.” He agreed that it would work, he thought about saying no, just because Black hadn’t been named in letter, not as friend or enemy. But Lupin seemed determined and he could always wipe the man’s memory later, if needed.
So, he nodded than sat and listened as the werewolf read out the letter. Grateful when he left the last bit unsaid.
“Fuck.” Black cursed, “This is my fault. I told him not to trust that old coot.” Lucius leaned forward curious as to why, but Lupin smacked his friend upside the back of his head. “You didn’t send Harry off, Merlin knows where. Now please go make lunch.” Black groaned but got up.
As he walked out of the room Lucius ears caught him muttering about pushy werewolves, manipulative old men, and hating cooking. He tried not to find it amusing but failed. It seemed Black reminded him a bit of Severus which given the animosity between the two shouldn’t have amused him, or perhaps that’s why it did.
“The past.” He said when Black was out of ear shot. Lupin looked at him, at first he could tell the man wanted to say bullshit but he seemed to be thinking about it, then he placed his head in his hands, “Tell me everything.”
So, he told him about the meeting at the bank, the circle, and the meeting at the twins later that day. It took a little over a hour an hour, before he had finished and Lupin called Black back into the room. Lupin was faster about telling the story as he filled in the other man while they ate.
Lunch went by surprisingly well right up until Lupin told Black he couldn’t come with them to the meeting.
“Why the hell not.” The man shouted bouncing to his feet.
“Siri, Your wanted.” Black growled and Lucius was curious about the canine smell that filled the air, he hadn’t known the Black line carried a creature, in fact, he was sure they didn’t. Narcissa would have told him, if only because of Draco.
“Fucking ridiculous.” Black yelled, “I’m innocent. I should be able to be there for my Godson!” Then Black dropped down in his chair, “I lost 13 years, Remy I just want to protect him.” Lucius found himself feeling bad for the man, if he wasn’t able to protect Draco, he wasn’t sure what he would do. If Sev wasn’t as well, it was unthinkable. Though how no one knew the small fact about Black being Potter’s godfather was astonishing. Surely someone in the ministry would have stumbled across the paperwork about it by now.
“I know.” Lupin whispered kneeling down in front of his friend, feeling that this was personal, Lucius quietly got to his feet and walked out of the hut. He didn’t have to wait for long for Lupin joined him.
The sandy haired man where a frown.
“Is he truly innocent?” He couldn’t help but ask. He had heard the rumors about it, even about Pettigrew’s supposed involvement but the Dark Lord didn’t seem to want to fill anyone in on the details and it wasn’t like he could ask at the Ministry.
“Yes.” Lupin said low, and Lucius could hear the growl buried beneath the word, “Dumbledore knows. We have been trying for years to get him to call an emergency hearing. But he kept giving reason on why the timing wasn’t right.” The man sighed, “Now I’m thinking it’s because if Sirius was cleared, he would get all rights to Harry and it seems Dumbledore doesn’t want that.”
He hummed his agreement. He wondered just how much power the old fool had over Potter, and why he was afraid of losing it. He had always assumed Dumbledore’s fascination with the Boy That Lived was because he was a beacon for the light side, but it seemed he was missing some information.
It was infuriating.
“I can apparate us to the Twins. I have been there before.” Lupin asked, not noticing his frustrated mood. He nodded and moved closer to the wolf. Lupin gave him a strange look, like he didn’t believe this was real. A feeling Lucius understood all to well.
When Lupin pulled out his wand before taking his arm, he tensed, the wolf saw it a froze, “Disillusionment.” The man muttered.
“Alright.” he replied relaxing. Surprisingly it wasn’t hard to trust the wolf at his word. He shouldn’t. But he remembered enough about their years at Hogwarts to know Lupin wasn’t vindictive or cruel, he had a since of nobility that Lucius had always felt in awe of, not that he ever said it. To anyone, ever.
After Lupin cast the he took Lucius’s arm and appreciated them.
Lucius found himself in a small alley behind weasley’s Wizard Wheezes joke shop. Lupin still holding his arm, lead him around the front of the story and around the small crowds of shoppers, up the staircase and then through a door he hadn’t seen and up a smaller more narrow staircase. At the top of those stairs stood another door. This time Lupin stopped before it and looked back at him. The wolf seemed to release then that he was dragging Lucius around because his eyes widened and he let go. He turned back to the door and knocked.
Twin’s POV
George was starting to wonder two things, how far he and his brother could push flirting with the young Slytherin sitting on their couch before Snape snapped and murdered them and if they should just assume that the elder Malfoy wasn’t coming and start.
Of course as he thought it there was a knock at their door. He heard his brother sigh before he pushed off the couch and went to the door.
Fred as only slightly annoyed at Malfoy’s timing, he tried not to frown as he opened the door. Though he shouldn’t have worried because he gasped in surprise to see not only Malfoy standing there but Remus.
“Umm.” He looked between the two confused. Remus smiled at him and handed him a piece of parchment. Still lost he took it and started to read it. Though he froze and looked at Malfoy to make sure it was okay, when he saw that it was the man’s letter from the bank. the blonde nodded and he went back to reading. When he finished he handed the parchment to Malfoy and showed them both in.
“Hey Remus.” He said smiling.
“Hey Fred,” The werewolf grinned, Fred groaned. Him and his brother had been trying for years to confuse the man, but always failed. Somehow during their fourth year it had become a game. One the older man seemed to enjoy because he never put a stop to it.
“Lupin.” Severus said as they walked into the room, he did not look happy.
“I brought him, Severus.” Malfoy said, moving past Fred and Remus to stand by his friend.
“How?” Blaise and George asked together, gaining a grin from Fred, an amused look from Remus and a groan from Snape.
“It seems,” said Fred, “That the younger Malfoy is quite talented, he wrote in a an exception for Mister Malfoy to tell Remus.”  The was a chorus of questions, but Snape stepped forward “Enough.”
The power in the word hummed around the twins. They inheritance had surprised them, meaning that they hadn’t been expecting one. Their mother swear her family the Prewett’s, wasn’t from one of the Descendant lines nor held any creature blood, and the Weasley family according to their father hadn’t had a member manafest any abilities from an inheritance in generations.
So, on their 16th birthday when the woke up heads pounding, ears ringing, and the stronger itch to cause mischief than ever before, they had been astonished. They had kept it a secret slowly figuring out their new abilities together and enjoying the perks that came with them. One of which was not being submissive or dominant. While Fred was more laid back and George was a bit of a control freak, that was all them no inheritance needed.
Meaning that Snape’s command had no effect. Even if they could feel it’s power.
Nor did it seem to affect Blaise who just looked at his Professor in surprise. The elder Malfoy’s eyes narrowed at his friend, probably irritated. But Remus growled. Causing the hair on the back of their necks to stand, and thick tension  to fill the air.
Fred, who was still standing close enough to Remus to feel the wolf’s power react, took a step away. Because as much as he liked the man, standing next to an anger werewolf didn’t seem smart.
“Severus.” Malfoy commanded and then more carefully said, “Lupin.”
George shivered as both men turned to glare at the blonde.
“Severus, I have recently learned that Lupin is quite dominant, it is unwise to give him orders.” The room watched as Snape’s eyes widened in surprise. Then shocking everyone the Potions Master lowered his head slightly, the tension in the room dissipated.  
“Well,” George said, “I’m surprised.” Blaise snorted then tried to cover his mouth to hide his laughter, but it seemed it was the right thing do because Remus chuckled.
There was a sigh from Snape, “What I was trying to do was quite the room so we can discuss what we are going to do about Potter and Draco.”
“Lucius has told me that Draco and Harry have a plan? A Ritual?” Lupin asked,  the people in the room nodded. He looked at Severus, “Do you have the supplies for it?” The potions master thought about it, “All but thorn-apple but I have been assured the twins can get some, and the items needed to tether both boys.”
Both twins snorted, “Have some.”
“It’s great for our Dragon treats--.” Fred said. Getting a startled look from just about everyone other person in the room.
“While poisonous to most it animals--” George added.
“Dragon’s are drawn to it.” Fred went on.
“Charlie hates it.” They said together, grinning. They had a habit of sending some in the packages they owled their brother. They told him it was because they knew the dragons enjoyed it but truth was they loved how irritated his brother seemed to get. They always pictured him getting ganged up by the dragons as they tried to get to the treats.
“As for the teather.” George said looking at his brother eyebrow raised, thinking about Harry’s clock. It was something that mean a lot to their young friend slash brother.
“We think we know what to use for Harry.” His brother said understanding him.
“It won’t work.” Said Remus. Both twins turned to look at him, heads tilted to the side with questioning looks. “Your thinking his father's clock?” The werewolf asked to making sure. They both nodded. “It won’t work, because it is there in the past as well. With James. Using something in both times would confuse the spell.”
“Oh.” They said, looking back at each other trying to think of something else.
“What about Horntail?” Fred asked.
“What is Horntail?” Snape asked sounded esaperated.
“His dragon.” George said, as if that answered Snapes question. From the annoyed look on the professor’s face all it did was irritate him more.
“His mini dragon from the tournament.” Fred said, “He kept it. It normally flies around the dorm causing little--”
“--sparks, trying to scare his doormates.” George said excitedly
“It’s kinda cute.”
Snape sighed at their twin speak but nodded. “I believe that would work. How about for Draco?” He asked looking back at Malfoy and Blaise.
“I actually already thought of that.” Blaise said, sending a questioning look at Malfoy. The elder blonde man looked curious and nodded.
“In second year, he found a black quartz out along the end of the forest. It took us months but we charmed it into a bracelet. He normally wears it everywhere. But I saw it in the dorm a couple days. Would it work?” He asked both Professors.
The two adults look at each other. “It should,” said Remus.
“We have a week.” Remus said, “For you three to get the correct items, and for us to sneak into the school and set up the ritual. Severus, you have seen it, do you think it will work?”
“For such a powerful ritual it is surprisingly simple, Draco did well. It will work.” There was a relieved sigh from most in the room.
“So, “ Fred said, walking over to Blaise, “How do you feel about sneaking around Hogwarts with us?” He grinned over at his new friend, who blushed a little before grinning back, “sounds fun.” There was a groan which caused Fred and George to look over at their old Potions Professor. The man didn’t say anything just glared at the three of them.
It was Remus that started chuckling, “I think he fears you have corrupted one of his Slytherins.”
This got a snort from Malfoy, “I’ve know Blaise since he was a child, he does not need to be corrupted by the twins, he seeks trouble enough on his own.”
“Really?” They said turning to grin at the other boy.
“Now you have done it.” Snape muttered. “Blaise, we are leaving, I need to get you back to the school before anyone notices you are gone.” George watched as Blaise frowned, the dropped his shoulders resigned.
“It’s okay.” Fred said.
“You will see us tomorrow.” George added. Blaise gave them both a questioning look but his arm was grabbed by Snape and then they were gone.
“Gred.” His brother whinded.
“Yes Feorge?” he said turning to look at his twin.
“I want one.”
There was a snort and a chuckle from the two other adults. Than the elder Malfoy bowed his head and appereated out. Remus however dropped down on their couch, looking exhausted. Fred rushed to the kitchen and grabbed him a cup of tea.
While George sat down next to him, “We have a lot to talk about.” he said, using his wand to summon to two pieces of parchment that hadn’t been sent with his brothers.
