you get emotionally invested in a minecraft server ONE time and then you carry that shit with you forever. god
#in reference to the jack manifold dsmp stream of 2024 incident. but also you know. everything#you love something once and then grieve it forever or whatever#I don’t know if I can even watch the stream I read the chat logs and every repressed emotion from the last four years hit at once#also just got off work which is NOT helping

Why the nuke ending was good and important for the story, and why it was NOT retconned: an important essay
So, I& assume that most people here have only really watched DSMP through Tommy's POV. Maybe a few other of the most popular POVs. Even more people have just... straight up never watched the actual streams and got all their info off of social media. I& get it, I& can't blame you. But because of that you all have missed out on the absolutely crucial reasoning for why the nuke ending needed to be Like That.
I& will try to sum up Jack Manifold's lore here real quick, but I& can't ever do it justice in a text post, so I& implore you all to watch at least one or two of his lore streams, preferably the one in which he exploded the hotel and his POV of the finale, those are the two best ones lore-wise, and he re-explains his motivations quite frequently.
The biggest thing with his character is that he has always been forgotten about. Treated as a side character to the "main protagonist". He was never noticed, his three deaths were completely ignored, and no matter what he would do, people would always look past him to focus on whatever the big plot was. In his own words, he tried to kill Tommy and he didn't even care.
As the result of this mistreatment, literally having everything taken away from him - his home, his friends, his lives - he tries to find the root of it all, and comes to the conclusion that Tommy is to blame for it all, because he was his friend once but is now the cause of the server fighting all the time.
All of this is to say, he is an important narrative foil to Tommy - where Tommy struggles with just wanting to move past Exile and his trauma, Jack instead clings to everything that hurt him and just wishes to be noticed. He wants his pain to be acknowledged, and in doing so he spirals further and further into self destruction. He burns down Manifoldland. He blows up the hotel.
And finally, he blows up the world.
It was his desperate cry to be seen, a natural conclusion to his mental issues that everybody just ignored. But now, they couldn't ignore him anymore. They physically COULDN'T. And THAT, is why the ending is so brilliant. Because throughout all the trials and tribulations, Jack finally gets what he always wanted. He finally gets to kill Tommy the way he wanted to kill him, and at last, nobody can ignore him, this forgotten and abandoned kid that just tries to make things right, Jack Manifold.
BUT HE ISN'T ACTUALLY HAPPY ABOUT TOMMY DYING. IN HIS LAST MINUTE, HE REALIZES THAT HE'S BEEN MISGUIDED ALL ALONG AND WITH TUBBO'S HELP HE REALIZES THAT ALL HE REALLY WANTED WAS FOR HIS FRIENDS TO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT HIM AGAIN.
SO HE TRIES TO SAVE HIS FRIEND AND LITERALLY GOES INTO LAVA TO TRY AND REACH HIM (THE SAME LAVA THAT TOMMY THREW HIM IN AND KILLED HIM WITH)
BUT IT'S TOO LATE.
IT'S PURE FUCKING CINEMA.
IT'S THE MOST TRAGIC ENDING EVER. IT'S THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY TO HAVE ENDED THE SERIES, WITH AN UNDERDOG WHOM EVERYBODY IGNORED UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE, FINALLY GETTING HIS LAST SPOTLIGHT. FINALLY HAVING A SMIDGE OF HOPE THAT SOMEONE OUT THERE MIGHT CARE ABOUT HIM IF HE JUST TRIES AGAIN.
So what does that mean for the latest new stream? It means that Jack finally got his closure and got to talk to Tommy. And he learnt how to move on. He doesn't center his life around him anymore.
But he does wish for Tommy to be happy. Even if he himself can't, even if he's still stuck gambling and addicted and all alone with no one by his side, he finally moved on from Tommy. He finally planted Manishroom in the ruins of his burnt down house.
And the fact of the matter is, this has been streamed from Jack's POV. And now, this is his story. Let him have this. The fact that his actions left an impact is important.
Let us, the manifolders, have this. Please. The nuke ending was never about Tommy or Dream or whatever. It was always about Jack.

I’ve already done music recommendations so, you can check out these posts (playlists and list of artists) if you’re looking for that specifically. But Wilbur made a lot of content over the years and idk, i figured I’d make a a list of recommendations for similar content to fill that void as well :)
Minecraft SMP’s (specifically DSMP)
The same SMP’s but other POV’s — I’ll just start with this cos it’s the most iffy. There’s plenty of enjoyment to be had with these fandoms still, and I personally don’t think we need to let the actions of a couple shitty guys ruin the silly Minecraft roleplay we all enjoy. That said, if you aren’t comfy watching these anymore that’s perfectly valid as well, especially since Wilbur’s character will be lurking around in the background of plenty of these. But yeah, we can also uplift other creators by watching the fun stories they made, especially those who got buried by bigger creators at the time. So Dream SMP, QSMP, Origins SMP, SMP earth, SMPlive all have content you can enjoy.
Different, completely unrelated SMP’s — hermitcraft, the life series, empires SMP (shubble was involved in this one, I’m planning on watching her POV when I find some time) etc. I’ve had plenty of people recommend these to me before, from what I’ve seen they’re very enjoyable :)
Hamilton — not even joking, if you enjoyed the L’manberg era of DSMP and you didn’t watch Hamilton, I’d heartily recommend it. Great music, lots of politics but all in a fun and silly way, also tragic endings!
Editor Wilbur ARG (I’m a massive ARG fan so I have tonnes of recommendations here)
Generation Loss — Ranboo’s very awesome Horror project that they’ve been working very hard on!!! Ranboo’s been teasing new content lately as well so that’s exciting
Analog horror series — Local 58, Gemini Home Entertainment, Mandela Catalog, Kane Pixel’s Backrooms videos, etc. All very good and spooky videos, definetely an inspiration for Gen Loss, and I know Wilbur enjoyed this content as well (though the editor Wilbur arg predates a lot of this genre) those are some of the biggest on YouTube atm, and some of my personal favourites, but there’s plenty more to find (I recommend channels like Nightmind and Nexpo who do analysis videos for all this horror and ARG stuff if you wanna find more)
Marble Hornets — gets its own category! One of the original analog horror genres (predated the genre actually) it’s basically one of the biggest and most comprehensive Slenderman series out there. There’s a LOT of content here and lots of lore and mystery (though a lot of the game clues have been lost to time) (Jack Manifold also reacted to this on stream, it was very chill and good fun)
Horror podcasts — Magnus Archives and Magnus Protocol, Malevolent and Archive 81 are some of my favourites, but there’s plenty more out there to find and enjoy :). Also very spooky with lots of mystery to involved, the Magnus Protocol is very new as well so great time to get into that!
Just Chatting / Geoguessr / other chill content
Geoguessr streamers / YouTubers — honestly I genuinely didn’t watch much geoguessr content outside of Wilbur’s streams so, I don’t have many recommendations here. I know Eret has been doing geoguessr streams lately and their content is very good and chill. Jacksuckatlife plays as well and last I watched he was fairly good at it (like similar skill level to Wilbur), otherwise Rainbolt is a geoguessr legend, he terrifies me a little ngl.
Other streamers — I think the thing with the just chatting streams is that we watch for *that specific streamer’s* personality. It’s hard to really make recommendations other than just saying go watch more of the streamers you enjoy. Personally I enjoy Phil’s hardcore streams, and Sneegsnag’s Crime Time the most, but there’s plenty of other people both in this MCYT space and outside of it that you’ll probably enjoy :)
Sorry boys (unlike horror I don’t watch much comedy so, sorry, this’ll be lacking)
Just Roll With It — Charlie Slimecicle’s DND podcast. I’ve only listened to a little bit of this but it’s really good and REALLY silly (oh, and emotional sometimes, gotta have a bit of angst y’know) Wilbur was a guest on a couple of episodes, but you can always skip past those if you want.
Tommy’s videos — so Wilbur features in a lot of the early vlogs and *minecraft but* videos, but Tommy’s content has always been good fun, his recent stuff is excellent as well! He’s been doing a lot of comedy content lately, specifically a live show so definitely check that out if you want :)
Smosh pit — not something I’ve watched a lot of, but I’ve seen clips of their try not to laugh videos and they’re definitely on par with the bat shit improv you get from Sorry Boys.
Game changer — again, not something I’ve watched much, mostly consumed through osmosis, but the show is funny, the cast is always silly and it’s a lot of fun all round
Whatever else Sorry Boys make after this — judging by some of the responses to Wilbur’s “statement” I think it’s fair to assume if Sorry Boys do continue making content Wilbur will be cut from the group. Of course don’t feel obligated to stick around if you don’t want to, but Wilbur won’t be compensated if he’s kicked and the rest of the guys are still fun :)
YLYL and similar goofy stuff
Just… other streamers again — Jack Manifold does YLYL streams with his friends. James Marriott does a lot of reaction videos as well, sometimes YLYL, sometimes reacting to content his viewers send in (like TikTok’s and break up texts), those are my favourites atm.
YouTubers — that niche between video essay and reaction content, people like Danny Gonzales, Drew Gooden, Kurtis Conner, Pinely, all good fun YouTube channels that make good, silly, and easy to consume content.
Other gaming streamers and YouTubers — Slimecicle, Ranboo, Games Grumps, RT games, and SneegSnag all play a wide variety of games, they’re all relatively chill but none of them take the games all that seriously either so it’s fun and goofy as well :)
And of course Fanfiction!!!
I might be a little bias here cos I write myself but fic is created by and for fans and it exists to give you even *more* content about the stories you love, whether it be reimagining canon events or just dumping your favourite characters into a silly au.
I know a lot of authors (myself included) are feeling super conflicted and weird about writing Wilbur in the future. Plenty of authors have been moving onto new fandoms so if you find something you enjoy make sure you check out the author’s other work and who knows, maybe you’ll find some cool new fandoms that way!
And do the same for artists and other creators, or even go check out some of your mutuals fandoms, you guys might have more in common than you originally thought!

so like the thing is. in many ways the dsmp seems like it ought to be more similar to film acting than it is to theatre-- you've got a close-up camera on you! a lot of the differences are often boiled down to that: theatre is more exaggerated, more full-body, because you're performing to an audience that is far away. film has a camera close on you so it tends more realistic and subtle. BUT the dsmp is actually!! way more like theatre in a lot of ways!!! to the point of REINVENTING theatrical devices that have largely fallen by the wayside in film
the dsmp has soliloquies. it's got asides. you see the same actors playing different characters. you have the tacit understanding that what you see on stage is not always what is literally happening in the story's world, but a symbolic representation. it's aware of audience, it interacts with and talks to the live-reacting audience!!
which i am. obsessed with, tbh! when tommy mutes in conversation with sapnap to say to chat "we're not going to team with him, chat, obviously we're not" before unmuting and saying "yeah, okay, let's team"--when wilbur on the 16th looks at the camera and holds up his hand when they're asking who the traitor is--when technoblade types and deletes "INVIS POTS DONT LAST THAT LONG" in in-game chat while talking to dream--these are all giving information to the audience abt the characters' internal thoughts, in ways that are much more typical of stage theatre than film! it's unusual for a character in a movie or tv show to say things (or take actions) in a conversation that are inaudible to the other characters in that conversation and intended for the audience. film tends to convey information about the characters' thoughts in other ways! it's a very Stage sort of thing, and i doubt they were thinking of it that way, it just sort of naturally emerges from having a live audience that they're entertaining + the ability with livestream technology to communicate things to the audience while being actually imperceptible to the other characters
and ofc whenever they are alone they are not silent, nor do they rely on voiceover or framing devices such as a diary to communicate their inner thoughts--they narrate their thoughts aloud, to the audience. they walk around and sometimes they have conversations with their donos but just as often they soliloquize! i'd include examples here as well but it's so ubiquitous, tbh, tommy does this, sam does this, ranboo does this, techno does this, wilbur does this, jack manifold does this, niki does this, everyone does this constantly. and it makes sense given the medium but that's also so fascinating to me! because again i really doubt they were thinking of it that way, it's just the obvious thing to do, the obvious extension of streaming commentary!
point is. dsmp stage show. I'm Normal About It
#the thing i mean wrt symbolic representation and it being Nonliteral#is like.... stage acting is very Representational#you pretend that an obviously-toy gun is (for the purposes of the story) real; you pretend that the stage crew is not there;#in musicals you often accept that they are not in-story breaking into song and dance; etc#and while i think there is definitely A Range of interpretations in terms of how literally vs representationally to view the dsmp#it's definitely more representational than most modern film and tv!#therapists dni#any british ants in the chat?

The Happy Wheels stuff interests me for a few reasons, one being Jack getting into 'shit' for his comments about other ccs being in a Tommy video when they probably should've been cut twice, and two because unlike the Mr Beast issue where it became something that reached even local twitter, the Happy Wheels stuff didn't come close, probably as it was a fanbase response as opposed to a content creator one but there's certainly more to it, because it didn't even reach outside of the dt fanbase itself.
The subreddit and the dt side of Twitter are becoming increasingly isolated with far less communication with other communities (which is an interesting discussion and look at stanbase infighting on its own), so alot of things and narratives born out of their hypervigilance and potential bad faith over Tommy and other evils such as Jack Manifold seem to reach no one but themselves until a content creator acknowledges it (i.e fuck Jack Manifold). What fans of Jacksepticeye, Tommy and other mcyt communities I do know on Twitter don't even seem aware of these things? Happy Wheels issue included (bar from the obvious ones who lurk the more gossipy blogs).
Tommy's arguably not near to becoming a genuine drama fanatic by content creator standards as much as he toe'd the line last year. The only PR concerns someone could have being in his videos or streams now would be, one, his communication skills with his editors apparently, and two the people who hate watch them, that being dt fans, and they've lost alot of bite over the last two years.
Through numbers, through Dream and the DSMP sinking back into the Earth, and through the fact there's not much more clout climbing to do via. sucking up to him and his fanbase as opposed to sucking up to any of the QSMP streamers (and their fanbases loathe him). I find it interesting having as much insight into these now very separate yet close groups that I do and seeing what information or beliefs travel and what don't at all (apologies this is wordy as shit)
The subtwt/subreddit/subblr divides have been a staple of the space for a while, now that there's less holding those spaces together as neighbors a lot of groups have gone insular and have their own ideas and moral codes. There can be an impressive amount of difference in morals / values / how SJ concepts get used between these spaces, even in communities around the same CC. I'm thankful that people have that distance now, because things were already really bad at points, and who knows what they would be like now on year three of passionately hating each other up-close.
#mageposting#It's still funny to me that after all these years Tumblr has become the more relaxed space in behavior and reputation#compared to some more mainstream spaces#i used to think some websites were cursed#but now i understand#people are cursed#websites just give it shape#the more people Going at the same time the more chances you get to get wild with it

OKAYYYYYYYY okay, Im about to watch Tommys The Last Stream vod after I go for another quick walk, after that its just Tubbos stream which is probably just the same thing but from a different pov anyway, then its just the Syndicate End vod and then its just a two minute video of Ranboos end and then Im finally free. I really wish I could do this properly on my blog instead of having to do this in my notes app but I simply cannot wait another day. Im so hopped up on adrenaline rn i dont think I can sleep tonight, especially if I dont finally finish this. Also I have therapy tomorrow when Im writing this and I need to calm tf down before I show up at the therapists office all shaky n shit because of some minecraft roleplay. Its almost 6 pm rn and I shall be free of this nightmare before the clock strikes midnight. Amen.
*
Tubbitch boi
*
I dont even have anything to say man
*
This is so upsetting dude
*
I made it through these first 15 minutes with basically no pausing and I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate that bc I just know the second that joker starts talking to Dream I'll be pausing every 5 seconds
*
Why the fuck does the prison look like it was under water for like a decade and now theres just barnacles n shit growing on everythinh
*
YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND BABEY RIGHT ROUND
*
DREAM
*
Alright I took two minutes to mentally prepare myself now Im ready for this
*
Wait why the fuck was he just hangin out in the main cell if he wasnt even expecting Tommy. weirdo behaviour
*
PUNZ IS THERE AS WELL??? WERE THEY HAVING A DATE IN THE TORTURE BOX
*
"IM READY TO FUCKING KILL THE BOTH OF YOU"
*long uncomfortable pause*
"Uhm... okay"
*
It looks like Tommy is doing a good job stalling them so far so Im very curious how it goes from this to the stuff Ive read spoilers about
*
Ouhhhhhh I wonder how hes gonna react to that dig at Spirittttttt.........
*
Okay, no like verbal ouward reaction but that is what got him to start attacking Tommy
*
I dont think Punz will care that Tommy tried to kill himself bc of Dream, I think hed find that kinda hot
*
"The world doesnt fucking revolve around you"??? Bro Punz Boomer arc??? "Those darn zoomers wanting compassion and kindness after almost killing themselves
*
"Youre insane to think everything revolves around you" hello?? says the guy who fancies himself a god and also thinks everyone but him and his boytoy deserve to die because theyre "simple-minded"
*
OH NO i completely forgot, the nuke is not gonna hit them. this is allpretty much pointless
DAMN YOU JACK MANIFOLD
*
Okay listen, Im a huge c!Dream sympathetizer and I know this is gonna end with him being presented in a sympathetic and pitiable light and Im gonna fall for it no matter what because of course I am but like, he has been so comically awful throughout this entire finale I am not expecting this to end in an actually satisfying way at all
*
Oh that sly dog got him monologuing
*
Girl help I dont remember pre-rp dsmp well enough to tell if Dream is embellishing shit and victimizing himself or not
*
OKAY dream smp from Dreams pov lets gooooooo
*
??? what.
*
Bro Dream is not in his right mind hes so far away from his right mind he might as well be chillin in lmoonberg that guy is so mentally ill (source: I have like atleast 90% of his mentall illnesses for sure)
*
what do you MEAN "know more"???
*
Maybe Im just a simple minded nihilist but why does that matter man. Why die so you can "know more" when you can live and have like, a party with your buddies
*
Honestly, I feel like Dreams motivations are so stupid at this point, like literally just make him someone who worships XD and is favoured by him or whatever and then also have him have this morbid curiosity about the stuff beyond the server and have him try and become god while appeasing his actual god in the hopes that he'll reveal his otherworldly knowledge to him or whatever idk man
*
Hows Dream gonna grow old with the people he loves when he doesnt have fucking friends HAH got im
*
No offense but why has most of this finale been Tommy philosophically waxing about how you should accept death even though all thats waiting for you on the other side is eternal torment with Dream responding by being like "but why though?? :(" when that has like, literally nothing to do with any of the Dream SMPs themes? Like, okay, theres been a ton of storylines obviously but the two main ones are definitely Tommy vs Dream (its essentially the throughline to all this bullshit) and Wilbur, Lmanberg and every single attempt at a country after that. Because of this I would say that the dsmps themes are Cycles of Violence and Legacy and when they intersect you occasionally get glimmers of this idea of History Repeating Itself.
The Legacy theme is insanely well executed, no notes, Im in love
The Cycles of Violence theme.... less so. I'll probably make a more detailed post about this in the future since I dont wanna waste too much time with this liveblog. But I personally think that if they wanted to pull this theme off while also making Dream sympathetic, he absolutely needed to be affected by the violence he inadvertently caused and the audience needs to actually see it in atleast one (1) scene that would be impossible to twist into something unsympathetic unless you were looking at it in bad faith. Dream being thrown in jail and subsequently physically tortured wouldve been a great opportunity for this kind of stuff like, I remember lurking in the fandom around this time, this was the point where plenty of people were starting to sympathize simply because of how inhumane the prison was. Like, if they werent gonna show him break a little in front of others for their perspectives, the least they couldve done was make like, a few short videos of Dream being alone, doing whatever, you wouldnt even need dialogue and then pepper those throughout the post-prison arcs. You could have one like two or three minute video right after Tommys visit where he maybe tries writing those stupid essays out of boredom before burning them and then some potatoes plop into the pool and you really get a sense for the emptyness and isolation of it. Another good one would be one showing how Quackity tortures him, or maybe one taking place right after one of the torture seassions with him starving and shaking and maybe trying to write a log or something but failing because everything hurts. Him being in the prison after hes escaped and made it his base again, watching it slowly decay and fall apart with him in it. They really dont have to be long, again, two or three minute videos wouldve done a lot of good here imo. And then you could also sprinkle in some monologues because as much as I like to make fun of the snake monologue in my head, it did give some much needed insight into Dreams perspective on all of this while making him a bit more sympathetic.
*
Honestly, Dream is making some pretty reasonable points here (if you completely disregard all the context of the entire dsmp but still) but like dude, you cannot go around calling your teenage nemesis a pest that such obvious villain behaviour dude
*
Im not gonna lie, i thought the very last final scene between Dream and Tommy would take place in a more, idk, intimate? place. Thats not the right word but whatever I cant think of anything else that fits. But like, they absolutely do not have a reason to leave so I guess this is just gonna continue with Tommy and Dream talking in this fucked up room of this fucked up prison while Punz is also right there
*
Okay, I just got to the bit where Tommy says 'Im sorry' to Dream and I know a lot of people were upset by that bc they took it as him apologizing to his abusers for being 'abuse-worthy' if you wanna phrase it like that and thats not what I got from that at all. Like, its technically part of a very earnest emotional statement so his tone was kinda soft and apologetic but it really came across as an 'Im sorry you feel that way' kind of apology to me
*
BRUH HE JUST KILLED HIM??? WHAT
*
What the fuck is happening now
*
Is this hell.
*
NO ITS THE EARLY DREAM TEAM STREAMS THIS TRULY IS HELL
*
Oh my god please tell me this wont go on for much longer I already watched like 30 hours of these boring ass guys dicking around back in late 2020 i cannot take a second more
*
Bro why did they pick the part of the stream thats just Dream trying to figure out his fucking minecraft settings for this this isnt doing anything
*
Please bring me back I dont wanna watch this boring shit
*
What is ahppening
*
Okay they revived him, are they gonna explain why his afterlife hell is just him watching the most boring minecraft streams on planet earth
*
"It doesnt matter if I get horrifically traumatized because I'll just live forever :)"
*
Okay I think Im starting to understand Dreams motivations here a bit more and they make more sense but its like, if you care so much about eliminating suffering why did you go out of your way to torment Tommy like that in exile. Like, i know its because you did want him to be your friend at some point and maybe you still do but you didnt like how he would never listen to you so you figured itd be better to just break him down mentally but like, I dont think that would be necessary for the long term goal of eliminating all death and suffering at all so, what
*
Dude, he was not happy he was adjusting his minecraft settings
*
What if he just started sobbed. Hes all smug like "well, im happy now :)" and then the dam jist breaks. wouldnt that be grand
*
Hes fucking psychoanalyzing the green bitch this rules
*
Im sorry man I was not envisioning this emotional final scene to be accompanied by Punz occasionally saying some bullshit in the background
*
"George and Sapnap are still here" uh no, George literally isnt and last time we saw Sapnap he was making a deal with God to sacrifice his own life and afterlife to ensure that Dream would die and stay dead forever
*
Oughhhhhhh this is great I can practically smell the insecurity coming off of him rn
*
Oh god why is Tommy being like "you just wanted things to be simple [like they were in the past]" giving me a more complete understanding of myself as well this sucks I dont wanna be a c!Dream kinnie anymore >:(
*
I dont think Tommy is wrong about what hes saying abt Dream at all here and I think this is a smart angle to focus on for making Dream seem more sympathetic but right now I definitely feel like its missing the crucial element of "yes, Dream just wants friends, friends who will do what he wants with minimal resistance because hes a control freak" yknow? Like, his need for absolute control all the time is one of his most prominent traits and him wanting to gain some understanding and control of death and other things beyond his comprehension actually lines up quite nicely with that, its just kinda getting muddled with Dreams statements about wanting to make everything better. Granted, he probably wouldnt want to admit that his version of "making everything better" is just making everyone listen to him bc hes god basically but still, I think his control freakiness needs to get addressed more explicitly and maybe it will be, weve still hot a few minutes but ehhhhh. I doubt it
*
Honestly, ive grown to like Punz quite a bit eventhough he really hasnt done much but like, why the fuck is he here
*
I realize that the dialogue in dsmp is always overwhelmingly improv but its just so odd and kinda bad in this conversation. I think its because out of context, the way both Dream and Tommy are phrasing things makes it seem like they were on more equal footing and both suffered equally during their conflict when thats just not the case and Im not a fan
*
I think Ill tentatively take back all the stuff I said about how Dream shouldve been a worshipper of XD but i still think its a neat concept so I'll probably do something with that later
*
Oh god why did they do that crown, Dreams skin already looks bad and silly enough. Oh well I take solace in knowing that all the fanart of this scene probably slaps
*
OH I FORGOR ABOUT THE NUKES
*
Punz is still there is he gonna say anything about the nuke thats about to hit
*
Lookat these guys, never heard a nuke about to hit before
*
Ohhhhhhh I thought that previous 'sorry' was the one Ive seen people upset about, but Im pretty sure its actually this one
Honestly, I still dont see why you would be upset about it outside of the fact that it is an abuse victim apologizing to his abuser but its like, idk man. I dont think a piece of media featuring a scene where that happens within a very specific context is doing abuse apologism, although I guess a lot of people would argue that the fact that Tommy is even reaching out to Dream after everything he did is abuse apologism and. Im not even gonna try to argue with them. I'll just say that I disagree and try to explain my perspective in some amount of detail, this will get pretty personal though, so watch out:
I was recently semi-diagnosed with a personality disorder and i probably have a bunch of other bullshit going on as well and not to armchair diagnose a fictional character but c!Dream definitely has that personality disorder and whatever other shit thats hiding inside my weird brain. His irrational, defensive thought processes, his contradictionary wants, his persistent need for control, his detached nature, his manipulation, the way he uses actual emotional pain as a tool for manipulation while keeping that pain at an arms length, even his weird monotone way of speaking, I relate to all of it. I have seen and related to a lot of mentally ill and neurodivergent and neurodivergent-coded characters and I have never felt as seen as now. He embodies my worst qualities turned up a few notches to make them even worse and then he has a weird god complex on top of all of that and yet, he still ends up being given sympathy, someone tries to understand him and offers him help. And idk, that just means a lot to me so I look at this whole thing a bit differently.
Also, while I get why some people are upset and I get peoples desire to critize this from a Doylist perspective because real people came up with this story in real life and that still has implications, even when the line between fiction and reality is thick enough to be considered a wall, from a Watsonian in-universe perspective its like, Dream is not a bad person for accepting help (or trying to accept help) when its being freely offered to him
*
Okay wait but if the nuke still hit the prison and blew everything to shit what the hell did Jack do when he rewired the redstone at the launch thingy. Is the prison that close to the main smp I dont remember
*
Oh man this is gonna take a hot second huh
*
Okay we're back in Minecraft, Tommys punching a tree
*
I hate the fact that Tommy doesnt atleast punch the entire tree down before making a crafting table
*
OKAY IT IS DONE
I was gonna finish the whole series today but its almost 11pm and I a sleepy gal so i'll watch Tubbos pov tomorrow and the Syndicate vod and all that and also I'll probably give my thoughts on the ending in more detail after that. Right now I dont think I cant bare to write any more man, I just wrote like three or four decently detailed (for me) analyses about fucking bullshit basically in a row, my head literally hurts
So yeah, goodnight I'll be hopefully posting all of these posts tomorrow and I'll hopefully be peoperly liveblogging everything again

Ah!!!!!
a) my interest is south park T_T. I bet that wasn’t obvious. I used to be into dsmp and am on the outskirts of mcyt (i haven’t watched Hermitcraft in so long… some say i’m waiting for the next traffic light series, others say i’ll die). Pathologic is the big seller for me always and Umineko is second. Both of those two are subjectively and objectively favorites. I, with the confidence of an 18 year old, am sure I will never experience something as beautiful or amazing as pathologic 2 or umineko ever again. Umi is better then patho if anyone is wondering and I think both are beautiful amazing stories even though ymmv. Big musical fan, I love music and stories so like. wdyw from me. i spend my free time telling ppl in discord how i’m connecting dsmp and sp stuff while not mentioning dsmp’s name bc it’s funny.
b) fav musical. text book has to be Bandstand. Falsettos is an amazing choice obviously and i will bite your hand off for saying it. Not out of hostility tho. I also enjoyed Six and If/Then < so fucking under rated while having like two video bootlegs and an audio out there. Idina Menzel opened as the mc right after Frozen. it’s a rlly good story. objectively most of previously stated is rlly good. Along with Sweeney Todd, Fun Home, Last Five Years and probably some others.
c) real and true. started off watching Wilbur as i watched the entire thing from start and that eventually turned into some Tommy until that was all there is after exile. Then I think the rabbit hole started with Jack Manifold (he was the only one who streamed on the server regularly that i knew) and that turned into learning about AweSamponk. Then Origins started up and i saw all povs for that so i was a lot more liberal with opening streams. I used to sit and watch Ponk love every morning while at school, his arm got chopped off while i was in school taking a math test. I just listened I started watching Foolish separately but that kinda came together. No one has ever been more homo on the earth then Foolish Ponk and Sam. I ended with them too :)) as i transferred to traffic content mainly while Last Life was out and eventually slided into the inbetween of traffic and hermit.
d) uhhhh. i love them all :>>> i can’t pick. they’re my babies in their own ways. but if i disliked the middle child just a tiny bit. Not rlly noticeable or mentioned but it gets a bit neglected more despite being an important thing of itself. listen 3rd L brought the red green dynamics and amazing rule breaking and more. DL brought soulmates!!!! literally what the fuck do you want for me Jimmy Solidarity met his soulmate BECAUSE OF DEAHT
e) kanon+ (umineko no nako koro nii), Yuki Sohma (fruits basket), Ai Ohto (Wonder Egg Priority), Tobio Kageyama (Haikyuu), Andrei Stamatin (i wish canonical andrei had to deal with this), AnCom (Centricide) Stan Marsh, Kenny McCormick (South Park), Shin Tsukimi (Yttd), Shin’ichi Okazaki (Nana), Vanitas (The Case Study of Vanitas), Hanako (Toilet Bound Hanako-san), Ray (TPN), Rin Sohma (Fruits Basket), Ranmaru Kageyama, OA (OA), Ikuya Kirishima (Free!), Ghostbur (you know), Tommy (Passerine), Sapnap and Charlie Slime, AND Shoya Ishida (A Silent Voice) [on top of this some older kins I have is Deku and Mirio MHA, Hades LO, Yaku Morisuke is someone who’s so me frfr but he’s such a tiny character i feel complicated but he’s me frfr, Rin Matsuoka (Free!!!) is funny bc two Rins two shins two kageyama
listen here fricker we know too much of the same things and you don’t have your asks open for ur sp blog so this is being dealt with in public. wtf are your interests in your interests im so squinting eyes at you. what is your favorite musical but like why and what makes a musical a good one or do you not give a shit? i’m going to assume u fell down most/a good bit of of the dsmp rabbit hole of different povs. do u watch traffic series and which is ur favorite. what do you hold dear. also drop ur kin list i feel like that would be helpful too. this could also be a problem in dms since we are in the same discord but listen i never said i was smart
RJHEGDSDHSA HI
a) my interests?? i like sp7, our flag means death, streamers (qt and lud, steve suptic, vgumiho, dumbdog, tubbo), pokemon, ace attorney, warrior cats, history, podcasts idk
b) my fav musical is FALSETTOS!!! its a great musical with a great set design (the 2016 revival im talking abt) and the music is amazing! my second fav is the great comet. um i was a theatre kid a long time ago (middle school and previous) so i dont really care if its "good" i care if i like it
c) yeah! ive probably watched every dsmp member at least once, my cc favs are jack, tubbo, niki, hannah, and tina. my c! favs are tubbo, jack, hannah, puffy, quackity, and tommy.
d) ive watched some of the traffic series but mostly i know stuff thru osmosis. i think double life is my fav bc it was the first i watched while it was going down and i really like the soulmate gimmick, its fun
e) here we go.
hollyleaf (warrior cats), c!tubbo (dsmp), stede bonnet (ofmd), jonah simms (superstore), phoenix wright (ace attorney), izuku midoriya (mha), twilight sparkle (mlp), dory seif (search party), tony stark (fanon mcu), leafstar (warrior cats), bramblestar (warrior cats au), poe dameron (star wars), gloria (pokemon), johnny (tick tick boom, original off-broadway), biff loman (death of a salesman), prince hamlet (hamlet). im sure theres more im not thinking of but yeah.
now UNO REVERSE!

The way that I would describe DSMP right now is honestly...a bit like August 2020 DSMP?
You had that one BIG big event with the L’manburg War that sorta set everything up for the future, now a bunch of people are all settling down around one area just outside Las Nevadas having smaller-scale territorial rivalries and lighthearted competition. You even had Fundy and Tubbo spying on each other like Jack Manifold or Eret spying on L’manburg
Everyone’s sorta waiting for the “main plot” to continue from that big event -- in August everyone was wondering when the Disc War would continue, ‘cause it kept kinda sparking up with Skeppy but then fizzled out before it could grow into an all-out war? L’manburg faded into the background and it was mostly about the discs again
So you’d have occasional “big story days” where that would happen (like the Hamilton performance or the Railway Skirmish), but for the most part, in between then, it was a pretty chill time with more one-off comedic bits. You’d have chaos and conflict one day and the very next, Tommy and Dream would pause their war to start a religion together.
Some of the comedic bits would last for multiple days like the cartel or the nuclear war bunker they did karaoke in, some of the bits were one-offs that never took off like the Showbiz Business (rip), but there were a ton of people interacting on the server and everyone was just having a lot of fun in between wars
You had flavors on L’manroof, you had the drug park, you had the phantom membrane heist, just like nowadays you have the pickle pit, the 3-hour turtle soap opera romance, DreamXD’s heads, pig George, etc. etc.
I think L’Sandburg was the big spark of this, ‘cause that’s what really brought all that activity to Foolish’s summer home that’s continued for a month and and a half now. But now you’ve got both Foolish’s summer home and the area around Las Nevadas full of activity
It’s really fun!
I think a lot of people, especially newer viewers, aren’t really used to this kind of tone tbh? since a lot of S3 has been split into either Really Heavy Lore Streams or chill building streams that are completely out of character with not a lot in between. It’s been a while since it’s been like this to this extent. Even Purpled and Fundy are getting back into it with Las Nevadas, lore-stream-allergic Tubbo’s gotten involved with the outpost, etc.
It’s just some good vibes, you know? and I kinda just wanted to put it into words

c!Dream didnt "step into the villain role", he was already playing an antagonist
And Jack Manifold's entrance into the server proves it!
(PLEASE READ THIS PLEASE IT TOOK HOURS GOD PLEASE AT ONE POINT ALL THE IMAGES AND LINKS DISAPPEARED THAT I SPENT LIKE AN HOUR PUTTING IN THERE AND I NEARLY CRIED AND HAD TO REDO IT)
As someone who's watched all of season 1, from streams messing around, to semi-lore, to lore streams... its actually quite painful to watch the narrative in the fandom be completely rewritten as "Dream was good before L'Manberg villainised him, and he stepped into a villain role that was placed on him"
Early DSMP c!Dream: He already had this idea of the server being a "utopia" (his words), but enjoyed chaos Just as much. He had little moments like fixing Tommy n Tubbo's houses or whatever but the chaos he was involved in way overshadowed that. He hunted down, killed and burned all George's items because he was too powerful with diamond armor and tools while the rest of them had iron - This was Pre-Tommy, Pre-L'Manberg (I know he wasnt playing a character here but this is who c!Dream Used to be canonically so like...)
People have this idea that early DSMP streams cannot be analysed bc they werent playing a character back then but I'd argue Dream n Tommy were playing characters (just not with a script or with the intent to make a story). Like Tommy had his streamer persona which... you know how that can be and is quite different from his irl self, and you can see Dream acting like a chaotic bastard in game messing with Tommy and trying to be scary - when I doubt irl Dream spends his entire day taunting Tommy lmao. Plus I look to these VODs to get an idea of Who characters like c!Tommy used to be, so... and it's not like anything back then doesnt play into the lore, Eret made the castle when they first joined and That's where the idea to make them King came from after the war.
After Tommy: Dream enjoyed messing with Tommy a lot. If you look at nearly every old Tommy VOD, you can see Just how much. Their relationship was not one-sided, it was Not Tommy provoking Dream, it was usually the other way around. Dream Genuinely Loved involving himself in Tommy's conflicts and even Starting them. During the Disc War, he escalated it Twice. The first time was after Tommy stole the discs back and Dream could've gone on with his day but was too stubborn to, and instead spent God Knows How Long digging up the floor of his base and the area around his base to find the discs. I think it's worth it to note him blaming his actions on Tommy happened here, too. He acted like he needed to do this and blamed it on Tommy hiding the discs in the first place. "Its your fault, you hid the discs!"
The "going to extreme lengths to "solve" conflicts" did Not start with L'Manberg. During the Disc War he would do things like hide in Tommy's walls, scare him or threaten him. The second time he escalated the War was when Tommy traded his own Netherite Chestplate for the discs back, and after celebrating getting his discs back fairly, Dream randomly showed up and started shooting at him to steal the discs back and kickstart the war back up, when at this point he had No Right to.
After the Disc War, Dream being obsessed with discs became a literal running joke. I'm assuming... not a lot of people have watched Tommy's early DSMP VODs, which is a shame bc they're Genuinely really fun. I have a feeling the misconceptions around c!Dream once being a morally good mediator trying to stop conflict came from some people not exactly enjoying watching Tommy's streams 👀 because even back then that's where he showed his chaotic side. He would log on just to mess with him, he would log on Just to ruin him playing discs, he once logged on just to ruin Fundy and Tommy bonding farming music discs. I'd argue that last conflict shows just how c!Dream is, because he shows up just to ruin their day, and when they dare troll him back by stealing his items, he completely destroys Tommy's house and leaves threatening signs, putting all the blame on Tommy for the entire conflict.
The signs to me prove that Dream has... never been interested in playing a morally good mediator who's only interest is stopping conflict. Even if this is not canon, that just means you also have nothing to prove c!Dream was a good guy back then, lol
The L'Manberg War - He declared war on them because "there are 3 defectors from our kingdom", "sometimes you just gotta kill some people", "they have committed the crime of treason". (Hey guess what: Treason wasnt in the DSMP rules.) He says Nothing about how they villainised him or how he wanted peace back, he was offended at them trying to leave his rule. Despite them remaining peaceful and the fact that they hadnt even declared independence yet, he would repeatedly shoot at them, killed Tommy n Tubbo and stole their items, etc. He was being violent to them before they did... Anything, even burning trees inside their walls when c!Wilbur said he wanted him to respect their wildlife. c!Wilbur called him his neighbour and offered him an embassy inside their land.
c!Dream is Stubborn. He didnt care about solving it peacefully, nor did he attempt to. He didnt care about being their neighbour, he also did Not tell them they couldnt make a nation or even insinuate that him attacking them was due to the "drug monopoly", as Dream had NOT been there for the drug monopoly. He didnt care about the drugs, he didnt care that they were peaceful. He attacked them repeatedly and declared war like... an hour after they started existing. There was no "manipulation" on c!Wilbur's part, nothing taking advantage of or villifying c!Dream.
Reminder that Dream held Tubbo hostage which was what made the L'Manbergians rush into declaring independence. And if you say its bc they went after Alyssa, Tommy was scolded and dismissed for that
Question - if we're supposed to believe Dream had good intentions, why did he still seem like a bad guy in his own POV stream? Why did it not give us the sympathetic c!Dream content we wanted, with him crying on the floor about how L'Manberg villainised him? Instead we get Dream and friends setting up TNT canons, burning forests, burning down Tubbo's house, and a lovely little speech about how he will slaughter the L'Manbergians if they didnt surrender! (Go check out this post)
c!Dream had the upper hand and has always had the upper hand. During the L'Manberg war he crushed them, he tired a traitor and took 4 canon lives. Regardless of whether he knew what canon lives were back then he still laid a trap for them to walk into, be betrayed and walk out traumatized. Which they did. I'm not gonna go into detail on the L'Manberg war I've spoken about it too many times I'm tired
Anyway. After the war. The day after the war is the stream that completely solidifies in my mind that c!Dream was purposefully playing an antagonist that was Not forced into the villain role.
Literally nobody had questioned whether Dream was in the right yet, the scene with Skeppy had not happened yet, the Dream Team and Eret's last moments on the SMP that day were celebrating their victory. Etc. If c!Dream was supposed to step into a villain role he wasnt always playing, God Damn did he leap into that role incredibly enthusiastically with absolutely no hesitation because:
Jack Manifold enters the server! This stream is honestly considered a big lore stream to me which is why I'm confused as to why nobody talks about it. The entire streams plot is: Tommy and Tubbo try to convince Jack to join L'Manberg while Dream repeatedly attempts to split the three apart, cause arguments and manipulate them. They used the word manipulate btw Tommy referred to what Dream was doing as manipulation btw reminder this was less than a day after the L'Manberg war lol reminder that literally none of c!Dream's friends had even Hinted at turning against him at this point. Dream repeatedly sends Jack items and money to burn Tommy's items, he offers Tubbo money to do the same. He sends Jack secret messages and urges him to be a spy for him, to try to get him to become Eret 2.0. He's clearly not playing a guy with good intentions here. Where are the good intentions. How can you twist this into him believing he was doing the right thing?
I think the Main thing here I want to talk about is what c!Dream offered to c!Tommy: A Disc.
The thing that got c!Dream to leave L'Manberg alone was getting the Discs from Tommy, so he could continue his game and keep holding the discs above his head. And the very next day, Dream offered Tommy ONE of those discs, if Tommy murdered all Tubbo's villagers.
Note: There had been a stream during the preparations for the war where Tubbo was trying to breed villagers to be more equipped, Dream logs in and says he cant do that. Tommy joins the call and BEGS for Dream to leave his villagers alone because he knew how hard he worked getting them there and how it would give them a fairer chance in the war. (VOD gone. Do not fret though I think I might have Eret's POV saved on my laptop. I've already tried uploading it but its 10 hours long and just... doesnt work 😭)
Dream KNEW what the villagers meant to Tubbo, and that's why he wanted to cause a rift between them using the discs.
Reminder that c!Dream clearly didnt see L'Manberg as some sort of huge threat that will destroy the server if he let them have their independence just because he could get his hands on Tommy's discs. The discs have ALWAYS been his priority
The attachments thing didnt start in Season 2 either - I noticed a while ago when I was putting together a clip compilation of Tommy and his cows Henry, Harold and Harvey he made a LOT of comments like "I cant get attached they'll be used against me in a war" "Dream's just gonna kill them" "they're just gonna die". This was Pre-Election, during the OG L'Manberg era. That, alongside THIS? The whole Beebox thing?
Dream has ALWAYS been like this, he just moved on to doing more extreme things. There was no breaking point, there was no "being forced into a villain role", nothing of the sort. He enjoys playing an antagonist and always has. During Manberg he really played into this, see how he talks in these VODs about his shield n stuff. (Tommy VOD, Karl VOD) (especially the Karl VOD I dont think many people have seen it. Dream Schlatt Karl n Quackity shenanigans in Manberg go watch it's very fun)
That being said, the Spirit speech was Not a breaking point either. Not an outburst because he'd been pushed too far. Nothing of the sort. He'd been waiting for this.
Around a week after November 16th, during peacetime, Dream decided to go around blowing up TNT in people's bases, leaving signs that framed Tommy. Tommy had not done anything to him at this point btw - their last interaction was Dream randomly blowing up Tommy's house on Nov 16th. There is No VOD of this, but they trended a hashtag during it so look up #Tommydidit on Twitter as proof this all went down. What he said during this time was interesting,
^ talking about how when Tommy logged on next he would confront him for the griefing he supposedly did. Almost like he wanted him to get into trouble!
Not only were there No rules about messing with the king - seriously Fundy, the L'Manberg presidents son, had a whole ass prank war going with Eret back during Season 1 then where they would grief eachothers bases (Fundy trying to kill Eret's dog and turning the throne into dirt, Fundy shrinking/destroying Eret's tower, Fundy flooding Eret's other tower, Eret flooding Fundy's base, Fundy and Jack literally claiming the throne lmao, etc). You expect me to believe that looking at the king wrong is suddenly a massive war crime and deserves punishment and reflects harshly on all of L'Manberg? My question is, if there was suddenly an unspoken law that prohibited messing with the king as a L'Manbergian, how would Tommy know this? How would he expect consequences for something that has never had consequences before? Especially considering the reason he picked George is because he was rarely on the server. And the fact that he wasnt supposed to be Vice President yet.
During the Pre-Exile conflict Dream once again had the upper hand, everything was going his way. They were listening to him and trying to negotiate (if they didnt respect/fear him as the Ultimate Authority on the server, they literally couldve told him to leave. But they didnt bc they know he has more power than them and they're powerless to stop what he wants. And he wanted Tommy exiled.) It was ALL going to Dream's plan. During the Meeting, Dream would repeatedly send Tommy messages to try to provoke him for a reaction, and when he succeeded, we had the Spirit speech.
(Seriously Dream clearly wasnt on the brink of an emotional breakdown here. C'mon.)
I dont believe this speech was an emotional breakdown for a second, considering everything was going his way And he has had Spirit used against him in the past, and didnt panic, and remained cool and collected, not having an emotional breakdown because 1 attachment was used against him (because he knew it was fair. He was holding Tommy's disc against him.). I think it's worth mentioning that he probably knew Tommy wouldnt go through with burning it anyway, because he knows how much attachments can mean.
And the reason Tommy had Spirit in the first place is because Dream gave it to him. During the Railway Skermish, Tommy stole Dream's items and wanted to trade them for his discs back. Dream thought the discs were too important to give, so he offered Spirit's leather to him instead. Without much hesitation. Once again, the discs were of utmost importance to him
And he clearly didnt care about griefing, as when he took Tommy away Tommy pointed out the Safe Haven him and Tubbo made. Dream immediately blew it up.
Damn. As I was writing this yesterday I saw Patchwork's essay and now mine seems so much less detailed in comparison lol go check theirs out it goes into a lot of stuff I didnt, with even more proof
(I'm really fucked if the videos dont open to the specific timestamps for others like they do for me-)
Edit: some of the timestamps work some dont. Too tired to fix it

so "i know the end" by phoebe bridgers is one of my favorite songs ever. according to wikipedia it is about "depression, euphoria, and the apocalypse". obviously, not all of it fits with cpurpled but some lines really just. ough. i'm not gonna do the whole song just my favorite parts.
"Somewhere in Germany, but I can't place it / Man, I hate this part of Texas / Close my eyes, fantasize / Three clicks and I'm home
When I get back I'll lay around / Then I'll get up and lay back down / Romanticize a quiet life / There's no place like my room"
i think of this as cpurpled being homesick and yearning to go back to his home planet where he can just. fucking chill. romanticize a quiet life and all. maybe he doesn't even necessarily want to go back to his home planet. but he wants the quiet of being alone.
"After a while you went quiet and I got mean / I'm always pushing you away from me"
do i even need to say anything. cpurpled is mean. even people who he used to be friendly with, he's ruined their relationships. ponk, jack manifold, maybe even bedwarsiblings if you want to go down that route.
"When the sirens sound, you'll hide under the floor / But I'm not gonna go down with my hometown in a tornado / I'm gonna chase it"
he's ambitious. in crises, purpled doesn't back down. he's always running towards danger (both lmanberg wars, red banquet, etc). he's not going to go down with the rest of las nevadas. he's going to chase his legacy, chase the chances he has.
"Windows down, scream along / To some America First rap, country song / A slaughterhouse, an outlet mall / Slot machines, fear of God"
it's escapism. cathartic, a little, to scream along while driving. it's something he'd do. and you can't tell me cpurpled doesnt listen to "rap country songs". and then the last two lines relate to las nevadas. the slaughterhouse could be the killing of slime, the outlet malls and slot machines are just las nevadas in a nutshell. fear of god is a bit more tricky because i don't think purpled believes in any godly supernatural force, or care about said force's opinion if it did exist. but quackity fears someone who thinks himself a "god" (dream). in the end, though, it wasn't dream who killed quackity's best friend.
"Over the coast, everyone's convinced / It's a government drone or an alien spaceship / Either way, we're not alone / I'll find a new place to be from"
obviously spaceship = purpled. but the "either way, we're not alone" is so. he's not alone. well, he's lonely and doesn't have anyone, but on the DSMP and especially with las nevadas no one leaves him alone. and in the next lore stream i dont think quackity's going to leave him alone either.
finally, "i'll find a new place to be from". "purpled from UFO". please get what im going for here. he WAS from UFO. that was his legacy, but he's finding new places to be from, to build a legacy. even before LN, this is such a big cpurpled line. he finds a new place to be from. the dsmp in general. lmanburg. his cave base. and then las nevadas.
"No, I'm not afraid to disappear / The billboard said, "The end is near" / I turned around, there was nothing there / Yeah, I guess the end is here"
"not afraid to disappear". well we haven't seen him in 280 days. he just does stuff on his own with his dog, disappearing from everyone else. "turned around, there was nothing there" nothing of his legacy left. and then "yeah i guess the end is here". he's accepted it. yeah, the end IS here. and he'll make sure the end is here for quackity's legacy too

DSMP LORE: THIS IS IT.
Context: Jack Manibald did a lore stream. He found PROJECT: EARLY DAWN and rewired the system so that the nuke launches to Tommy's house. Yikesaroonie. Anyone up for a Jack Manifold villain arc?
Green b♡tch is still nonexistent, let's keep it that way <3
DISCLAIMER!!: The streams will switch. I will use a marker to signal when the streams swap. I also ranted a lot at the end if you wanna read that
♤-quotes
☆-important
♡-swear word coverups
◇-stream swap to Tubbo_
TUBBO'S STREAM- HES PLAYING FALLEN KINGDOM BY CAPTAINSPARKLEZ
-He's doing a recap of the lore from the past 2 streams.
Tubbos playing Mice on Venus, saying that today's the day. And today is the day.◇
He's reassuring himself, but then he's had a change of thought. None of this is okay◇
Tubbo is reliving memory lane, going to his first house, walking on the prime path, saying its a familiar feeling, and yet so different.◇
Tubbo is saying this is all his own and Tommy's fault.◇
TOMMY'S STREAM: Idk the song, but it keeps saying it's all over. It is.
Tommy's wearing his classic red and white shirt.
We've already started with the bloopers. Tubbo didn't join call and Tommy keeps shouting at him LOL
They're going on one last walk on the prime path. They're talking about the spot jschlatt was banned on. I remember that. The duel with "him", they're in the dr♡g van and remembering the first streams on the SMP in the museum.
TOMMY REALLY TOLD TUBBO TO GRIEVE HIS DEATH FOR A WHOLE YEAR LMAO
Tommy slapped Tubbo in the face
"Today isn't gonna be the happiest day." -Tommy♤
"I don't want it to be me to end your life!" -Tubbo♤
Tubbo says it's the butterfly effect. It all goes back to pressing a button☆
Tommy says he doesn't need Armour because it doesn't matter what happens
TUBBOS GONNA PRESS THAT BUTTON, THOUGH HE THINKS ITS A LEVER, SO HES GONNA FLICK THAT LEVER
Tommy thought of the stasis chamber, but it wouldn't work because he'd be dead before the pearl would even activate.
AWH, TOMMY BROUGHT UP WILBY
They're at the bench and they can't listen to music. Tommy hit Tubbo again because he thought he was crying
Tommy's Webcam broke LOL
Tommy had left a book for Tubbo to read once he knew the antagonists are dead. He gave Tubbo the picture of the OG Lmanburg citizens
"There IS no other way." -Tommy♤
Tommy got the picture back.
Tommy let Tubbo take the jukebox AND the bench and.. "When the world is falling, you sit on that bench." -Tommy♤
MF, THEY DID A FISTBUMP.
And Tommy's off. Off to his impending doom.
He's playing Sweden.
Tubbos playing Wet Hands on his stream too on his streamas he makes his way to Snowchester, unaware of what Jack did◇
Tommy is in the prison trying to find the antagonists. He just did.
HE DID A SICK SLIME BLOCK CLUTCH AND CRIT PUNZ OMG
TOMMY JUST SAID TUBBO DIED TO LURE THEM OUT. HELPPPP
Tubbo is talking to Jack right now◇
"He" just gave Tommy golden apples omg "he's" taunting him
The two are sparring at the moment
Jack finds out that the nuke was supposed to kill Tommy. Tubbo told Jsck about the lab rats and the endless suffering. Jack keeps trying to get Tubbo to press the button.◇
Tommy asked "him" why "he" took the discs.
HE JUST ASKED "HIM" WHAT THE SERVER MEANS. OH WOW
"He" just said Tommy's having doubts and said "he'd" go more in depth if he'd join the antagonists
WHY WON'T TUBBO PRESS THE BUTTON-◇
He pressed it. He pressed the button. The location was changed back.◇
TOMMY'S CAMERA BROKE AGAIN LMAO
Kai just gifted 50 subs omg- ANYWAY.
There's a loud alarm going on. Tubbo said if Jack messed with the Redstone, he'd personally kill him
Tubbo is hesitating. It WAS a lever.◇
"Moving your arms is okay" -Jack Manifold◇
TUBBO NOTICED THE FAULTY REDSTONE BUT THOUGHT A FUSE WAS BLOWN- HHHELP◇
Tommy took off all of his Armour. HE APOLOGIZED TO "HIM" HHHELP
He said maybe life would be better if he never joined the server. Oh my goodness.
"HE" KILLED TOMMY. OH MY GOD. WHAT THE ACTUAL SHIT☆
Omg Tommy is literally looking at life from "his" perspective, it was literally life before he joined the server. The beginning of the server.
Tubbo still can't pull the lever. He doesn't know Tommy's dead.◇
"He" was happy"- Tommy♤
"Please bring me back. I don't wanna be alone." -Tommy♤
OH-
OH MY GOD????
DID HE GET REVIVED???????
ALREADY????
THE NUKE LAUNCHED AS SOON AS TOMMY WAS REVIVED-◇
And it's going to Tommy's base.
Oh my god.
Tommy is explaining his limbo to "him".
"You weren't evil. You didn't have the heart to do the things you do now." -Tommy♤

re: DSMP "unsolved mysteries"
I've seen lots and lots of posts about the "unsolved mysteries" on the Dream SMP that focus on the TNT on top of the prison and the missing nukes. One of those I am very confident was implied canonically to be Ranboo, and the other I'm confident in my theory that it was him. Putting it under a read more bc its fuckin Long, but its worth the read! Word count: 2482
First: TNT at the prison.
This was implied to be Ranboo across a couple different streams, albiet subtly. I'm not surprised it went a little bit under the radar, but it's simply untrue to say we have no indication of who it could be.
This point doesn't hold true across everything of this nature, and if it did, it would be a dead giveaway, but I think it's relevant here for a couple reasons: Ranboo was online at the time of the explosions. Tommy tends to reflexively open the tab menu during his lore streams, almost as a nervous habit, so we saw multiple times that Ranboo was online, and would seen it have even if Tommy had chat turned off. Online at the time were Sam, Dream, Tommy, Foolish, and Ranboo. Foolish could not have been the culprit, as he was live at the time. In the case of this incident, it would have to be manually triggered by someone. Afterwards, when Tubbo was doing his "interrogations", his first bit of evidence was checking who was online when it happened. For these reasons, I feel this is a valid point for this incident.
That night, Ranboo was live on the SMP. This stream is notable for most people because it was when Ranboo did the odd code in his inventory, that read "He is in control" (or he is in control of me, if you count the to do list). Many people focused on this as a indication that Dream controlled Ranboo to set off the TNT, but this line of thinking was abandoned over time, especially as we saw the implication that the message was actually referring to the Enderwalk, talking about Ranboo stopping himself from doing anything to save Tommy from the prison during that week. However, other details in that stream also hinted it was Ranboo. Most notable to me was Ranboo reading chat or a dono asking him what he had done that day, and him answering that he had "probably gone mining," with some uncertainty. Later that same stream, he went down into his mines , found no ingots in the furnaces, and commented "maybe [he] didn't go mining", and that he wasn't sure what he had done that morning. This comes across to me as an indication that he had a blank spot in his memory that day--that he had been Enderwalking. He drew attention to this here, where he otherwise wouldn't, because it implies he was Enderwalking while he was visibly online, on Tommy's stream, where he would have been able to set off that TNT.
Ranboo was one of the only people on the server with a positive relationship with Dream, of any sort. It is true, especially at this time, that many people had negative opinons of Tommy, but Ranboo was the only one who didn't outright hate Dream... in his Enderwalk state. (with the sole exception of Punz, if you think the vault confrontation was staged, but that's definitely theory territory.) Dream has repeatedly stated that he finds Tommy "fun" and enjoys fucking with him. Tommy was locked in the prison after Ranboo could no longer visit, so assuming he has no supernatural means of communication with Dream (which is likely, as we have no real indication otherwise), he would have been acting without instruction. What better way to help Dream out than getting him his 'plaything' for at least a week?
Alternatively, you could frame it as a distraction or a break in/out attempt... which also doesn't make sense for anyone but Ranboo. Either way you frame it, Ranboo is the only person who makes sense without having to stretch their relationship with Dream into something it isn't.
Tubbo's investigation was the only real in character investigation into this incident we saw. He started out investigating people who were online, which is why I believe it's uniquely relevant to this incident. As I mentioned earlier, Foolish's alibi was that he was live. Ranboo's alibi was that he was mining. If you recall, the day Tommy was locked into the prison, Ranboo acknowledged that he did not know what he had done that afternoon, and that he distinctly had not been mining. This investigation didn't get much further than this because Tubbo refused to acknowledge that Ranboo could have done something like this. Because Ranboo has hidden his enderwalking so well, no one has any reason to believe he would do something to intentionally hurt one of his friends, or to help Dream.
Canonically, there isn't much evidence outside of Ranboo's comments to the audience because the characters absolutely cannot find out that it was Ranboo. He cannot be revealed as a traitor, narratively. Not yet, at least. So all of the evidence has to be directed towards the audience, which leads to it falling into subtext more often than not. The Enderwalk arc has the potential for an absolutely disastrous reveal at some point, where others discover exactly what he has done. It's unlikely that something like this will be confirmed explicitly until that point, but I believe the details I have explored above are foreshadowing, and will be explored again at this reveal. This point applies to the nuke, as well--perhaps even more so for reasons I will explore below.
Second: The missing nuke.
This one treads a little more into theory territory, but I think some of the subtextual implication is in this one too, it's just a bit further apart. Instead of being implied in streams the day of the incident and one week later, these implications are a little bit further out. I don't think I'm necessarily stretching by making these connections, though I can see why someone may think it's a stretch.
Ranboo was not online during this stream. This is why I think that's only conditionally applicable to the last point--Tubbo does not check tab habitually, and he had chat turned off intentionally. The tab list isn't necessarily canon to this stream. If we go by that, Jack Manifold is physically the only person who could have taken the nuke. The only other people online were Philza and Foolish, who were both live. Since this wasn't taken into consideration for the investigations, it's not relevant here.
Out of character, Jack took the nuke. Jack did not stream his perspective of this incident, he hung behind when Tubbo went ahead to start building the silo, and when the two came back together later, it was gone. This was intentionally done, as Jack usually streams his perspective for lore like this. If he had been the one to take the nuke, we likely would already know. His secret plans are not a secret from the audience, they are a secret from other characters--this leads me to think that in character, he did not take the nuke.
Very few people knew about the nukes, so we already start with a pretty small pool of suspects. One of these people was Ranboo. Even if Ranboo did seem to forget what Tubbo told him, the nuke would have been taken while he was Enderwalking--y'know, when he remembers everything, or at least remembers more.
The backbone of this theory, and the reason why I even began to consider it, is that Ranboo has a very solid and clear motivation to want the nuke. Ranboo has been helping Dream. The nukes were made specifically to be a deterrent/protection against Dream. If Ranboo takes one of the nukes, Dream now has access to that nuke, and the playing field has been re-balanced. Essentially, it's creating Mutually Assured Destruction between them. To take it one step further, only one of the nukes went missing. Tubbo was left with one nuke, and Ranboo and Dream have one nuke. Why not just take both? Well, leaving both parties with a nuke essentially ensures neither side will use it. It protects Dream, but it also helps to maintain (a semblance of) peace. Neither side can use their nuke without the other retaliating in kind. This leads to tensions, but prevents outright warfare from either side. It's not pretty, but it aligns with Ranboo's broader goals of keeping the peace.
So we've got the motivation, it makes sense. But that's not enough to make the claim on its own. What's the evidence?
This is a touch convoluted, so I get why it doesn't necessarily come up in relation to this as evidence often, but it's pretty solid to me. Especially compared to how vague most of Ranboo's subtext can get.
It's in the lessons! The highest number of lesson we were given was 94, though when Ranboo was repeating it outloud, he said 93. He later clarified saying 93 was intentional. This stream was on April 23rd. 93 days earlier, to the day, was January 20th--the day Dream was locked in the prison. 93 lessons for 93 days. If we take this to imply the lessons were daily, starting when Dream was locked in the prison, each lesson corresponds to a specific day. March 26th was the day the nuke went missing. 67 days from January 20th is March 27th, the day after the nuke disappeared without a trace. Neither Jack nor Tubbo had any real leads on the nuke. Lesson 67, the day after the nuke was stolen... "Leave no evidence of what you have helped with." This EXACT thing is why the nuke is so hard to pin down. There was no real evidence left. This lesson lining up so closely to the nuke's disappearance is not a coincidence. Further, at this point Ranboo no longer had contact with Dream. He had locked himself out of the prison and couldn't visit. If the lessons are daily, the things he writes down are things he's figured out for himself. The lesson being the day after the nuke was stolen makes sense, when framed like that. He stole the nuke, left no evidence, and wrote that down because it worked.
All of the hints/foreshadowing for the eventual reveal of where the nuke disappeared to has to be done in retrospect, and it has to be either from Ranboo, or from some other source that knows more than the characters. Which leads into my second bit of evidence: the Tubbo Texts. Across like, a week of streams (starting on April Fools Day), spooky half transparency cryptic text appeared on screen periodically, that c!Tubbo was unaware of. Those texts have never been explored in canon, it seems that none of the characters are aware of them or of their contents. So they are posed directly to the audience. The second one in particular stands out to me here:
"Quick, I don't have much time. Stay away from the North. A strange metal weapon washed up. It poisons the nature, the water. No it's not. That's it, we are leaving."
The 'strange metal weapon' seems to refer to the nuke, the poison being the radiation. Geographical direction is rarely paid any mind on the server, but north is distinctly the direction of Techno, Phil, and Ranboo's house. I think I remember Ranboo telling Sam he lives "up north" while trying to visit the prison. The arctic commune is the only notable northward location. The nuke disappeared, and reappeared in the north, in the direction of Ranboo's home. The rest of the texts refer to the north as well. We don't know where Ranboo's base of operations is in the Enderwalk, but we can assume he has at least one, and we can assume the nuke is hidden there, if he has taken it. If Ranboo has taken the nuke, it makes sense for it to be in the North.
Ranboo has proven he can take things without any evidence left behind. Remember his first beacon, that disappeared like, a day after he set it up? He never tracked it down, just replaced it. Within a couple days, he made a comment about his pickaxe durability being suspiciously low... maybe because he was using the stolen beacon to mine far from his home base so it wasn't noticeable that he had been mining. That's beside the point. I mean this to say, he knows how to take and hide things, he knows how to keep secrets, and he almost definitely has at least one secret base we've never seen onscreen.
So maybe Ranboo took the nuke, maybe he set off the TNT at the prison, that's cool, but why have they abandoned the plotlines? Why have we never gotten more explicit answers? Why won't they come back to it?
Ultimately, it seems a lot of these plans have been pushed back and delayed for one reason or another. Beyond that, an untimely reveal of either of these things to other characters would be a huge letdown. The arc seems to be building to a catastrophically large reveal, and each thing that gets revealed before then makes it much less impactful. Keeping it subtle towards the audience, while still offering some hints, stops a certain degree of the chat spoiling "metagaming" we see sometimes, that makes some streamers have to fully ignore their chats during lore streams.
This part is very much my own opinion, but I don't believe the missing nuke plotline will be resurfacing until after Dream is out of prison. Ranboo has no reason to reveal he has it until it will be put to use, either as a nuke or as a threat, and that won't happen til Dream is out of the prison and the nuke is in his hands instead.
The TNT on top of the prison will be an insanely gratifying reveal if it comes out with the rest of the enderwalk stuff. Any of this taken out of that context just kinda falls flat. So people know Ranboo set off the TNT, or know he has the nuke. How does that propel the plot? Ranboo won't do much of anything about it. People will distrust Ranboo, sure, but they won't know the depth of the issue, and that just makes the reveal frustrating. It will be revealed in time, I'm sure, but I think the enderwalk arc has to reach a climax first, or it's just disappointing.
I agree with the general frustration that these plotlines appear to be dropped or greatly delayed, but it's a symptom of a bigger pacing issue than solving either 'mystery' on its own will fix. And the answers aren't as obfuscated as they first may seem, it just takes a little digging!

In your humble film analysis knowledge opinion, are there main characters in dsmp?
I assumed there kinda were based on what arc/season we were talking about but I don’t think that makes anyone a main character in terms of the entire narrative, but I know people have argued otherwise as well, so I was just wondering what your opinion was
(Like Schlatt is an important character during the election, and manberg vs pogtopia, but not for l’manberg’s independence or exile arc or something like that)
… The last time I talked about this, I got screamed at by a lot of people. I know for a fact that I was blocked by some of them.
To be as diplomatic as possible, the official line as per Ranboo is that the Dream SMP is not written with a Main Character or Protagonist in mind. Everyone writes their own stuff and then it just … coalesces into the most egalitarian story ever told.
And if authorial intent is all that matters to you then this is where you can stop reading.
Now that we have that out of the way, we should firstly state that the terms “Main Character”, “Protagonist” and “Hero” all have slightly different meaning (even though in layman’s terms they’re used pretty much interchangeably).
A Protagonist is the character that affects the most change in a narrative unit; a Main Character is the character that is the most affected by change in a narrative unit.
A protagonist CAN be a POV-character, the main character HAS to be a POV-character.
What’s really important – as you rightly pointed out – is the question: Which narrative unit are we looking at? A Scene? A Stream? A series of streams (a la Tales or Las Nevadas)? A Season?
Depending on which narrative unit you choose, the answer to your question changes. Quackity is undoubtedly the Protagonist and Main Character of Las Nevadas. Same goes for Karl with Las Nevadas. If you’re watching a Jack Manifold-stream then the protagonist and Main Character will most likely be Jack Manifold.
This is where the old adage comes from that “in the Dream SMP, you choose your own Main Character/Protagonist”.
Now, I find there’s some problems with that approach. Namely that, if you have the criticism that you wished that Season 2 had given Niki more stuff to do – a character arc that’s interwoven with the big conflicts of the Season such as Exile and the Butcher Army – and I countered with:
“Just watch Niki’s streams! Then she’s the Main Character for you!”
That would be a bit of a short-sighted solution, wouldn’t you say? Niki’s story would probably still be rather unfulfilling and possibly incoherent. It doesn’t change anything about the actual narrative that you find objectionable – it’s basically just a band-aid sentiment.
When people talk about Main Characters, they talk about the big narrative units: The Seasons or Arcs. And those undoubtedly have Main Characters/Protagonists, sometimes to the detriment of other characters.
Season 1 was focused around Wilbur.
Season 2 was focused around Tommy (and Technoblade to a lesser extent).
Season 3 … well, Season 3 is a special case. It doesn’t really have a Main Character/Protagonist-type figure – at least as of right now. But that’s not because Ranboo’s idea of the egalitarian narrative has suddenly come true, but because Season 3 is pacing mess.
It’s flabby, unfocused, slow and largely incoherent as a story. It doesn’t have a MC/Protagonist, but that doesn’t mean that it’s better.
