Continuing the posts of my coffee paintings 🙌 This time, it's Éomer's turn, and probably my most action filled coffee painting thus far
I loved working on the armour, though it wasn't the most clear reference shot, since it's straight from the movie.
The best part was being able to gift it to Karl Urban. I brought the painting to FedCon in Germany, but when standing in line for signing, I was told there was barely any time for talking, and no pictures allowed. If I wasn't able to tell him what the painting was, I decided I'd only give him a print. But when I got to his table, he instantly said: "Hold up! What's this?" And I got the chance to explain how I'd painted it with coffee, and if he would like he could keep the original, or just keep a print, since I know he (and every other celebrity) gets a lot of gifts. He said: "You know, I do get offered a lot of gifts, and I really can't keep them all. But I'd really like to have this," which made me so happy to know 🥰 He also mentioned it was his one of his favourite scenes.
He was more than happy to let me snap a picture too, which turned out a bit dark since he was sat in front of a window. And I got an awesome autograph on a print to keep. It was an amazing day, and Karl was absolutely lovely 🫶

After 3 days of FedCon, the adrenaline is finally wearing off and I’m dead tired but refuse to go to sleep for some unknown reason.
It was great to see old friends again, and meet new ones. We had fun, even when we had to wait in line for a very looong time.
Rick was Rick; charming, patient, funny, and his thoughts were only loosely connected.
Amanda was gorgeous, full of energy, patient, and back to her old self, or rather to a new self. Oh, and she wants “more sex”. (Pls wait until the gifsets and clips drop on the internet because my exhausted brain is not able to get the entire story straight/together from the panel anymore.)
Michael was a bit loud and tried to be funny when he clearly wasn’t but friendly and behaving during the autograph and photograph sessions.
Ben, Teryl, and Tony were funny and charming. I gained a new respect for them.
The old SG-1 gang clearly had a blast.
And so did we.

Few thoughts on Farscape which I started watching from the beginning again because i think when i last started it i must have been having a fever or sth bc i didn’t remember anything
I’m currently on episode 10
- Aeryn + big guns <3
- i firmly believed that Zhaan fucked everyone on the ship
- i’m not a big fan of slime and other fluids coming from a body (blood is okay i guess?) so it’s kinda hard for me to watch anything with Rygel but I might be getting used to is
- i think Moya might be my favorite character (I also love Aeryn, Zhaan and John and Pilot but… Moya <3)
- also Moya pretty <3
Anyways, this time i’m having a good run so i think i might finish Farscape or at least watch the better part of it before FedCon which Ben Browder and Gigi Edgley will be attending :)

*sighs* I usually don't have FedCon blues but this year it's lingering a bit. What a weekend! So happy I got tickets for both days this year: worth every damn penny for Anthony Rapp alone - having him serenade us TWICE with two NON Mark songs was HEAVEN!! (still saying they need Saturday night concerts like other cons have; especially when they have HIM there!)
Anyhow, he was my absolute highlight and the main reason I went! Both his panels were fantastic and well worth attending!
Also: the SNW cast - Melissa Navia is such a delight (despite being jetlagged as HELL!) and I REALLY hope she comes back soon, I need more of her (and possibly a photo because she's amazing!).
Surprisingly (because I didn't really plan on going to it), Todd Stashwick's panel was the first on Sunday morning and it was hilarious! That man was on fire, got gifted THREE Titan's and I've never anyone being happier about (fan)gifts in a while! Such a great start into the day!
Of course it was great seeing MY crew again even though it was rather brief this year! But there's always next year!!!
What else? AR loved my rainbow earrings and said so before our photo which makes me grin just a bit more! Then I got gifted a Tribble from a stranger just because they had them! How awesome is that! Met some lovely people in the queue on Saturday and we chatted away the waiting time.
Went star/polar lights gazing on Saturday night... (in Arthur voice) we failed! No auroras to be seen but we had a blast nevertheless!
Another fantastic weekend in the books!!!
And since the OFMD con was happening at the same time, I naturally had to rep our pirates at a scifi con - as you do!

lmao that reminds me how during my very first convention my friends were approached by rtl (aka a big German broadcaster) and then a very obnoxious and rude journo and his team accompanied us for a whole day. My best friend and I, we kind of made fun of him so we were completely cut from the programme, but my other friends ended up in this very biased and rude tv-segment that eventually got so much backlash that the journo was demoted to doing street interviews. I distinctly remember him asking if my friends "had found their elf princes yet" and then cutting their answers to make them look like complete idiots. I have never seen anything more out of touch and cringe but also actively manipulative and mean-spirited.
This kind of ragebait "journalism" will (sadly) always be a thing though - but it didn't stop gamescom or fedcon or dokomi or the WTG from being successful so hopefully we'll have many more BL fanmeets and events in Berlin and the rest of Germany/Europe soon. 🙏
Oh? Germany? What's it with Berlin as the new European BL hub?
Nvm it's "only" Yin and War and (understandably) non of the other actors. I was very tempted there for a hot minute. 🫠

Fare thee well 2024 -
for once you have been an utterly fanastic one! At least for me (and only for me personally; I am VERY MUCH ignoring all the shitty things happening out there in the world (esp in the US - my mind's still going WTF is wrong with you guys???) so this is VERY VERY subjective and personal!
And yes, I know we started 2024 off in a very bad way aka the cancellation of the most amazing show there is: Our Flag Means Death! I still don't know what the fuck happened, and why (because we fucking HAD THE NUMBERS!). But then again, looking around these days, every good show doesn't even get some proper breathing room, let alone an ending so yeah... BUT, the fandom's still here, still creating, still making, still supporting the living daylight out of cast and crew, living their best fucking life! So that's a great one! (More about that later!)
This year I spoiled myself (because I could). I went to London incredible FIVE(!!!) times. Always brief apart from the summer one which was the most EPIC week of them all. Not because of any theatre or celebrity, no, because after NINE freaking years I finally met up with the BFF again, the one person who knows me inside out despite us having met in person three times in 15 years!!! I love her sooo fucking much and this year's summer in London will stay with me for a very very long time!!! (And I just realized I never actually put a write-up of it up here - it was too damn awesome to put it in words, me thinks. Best memory of them all? Having the most comfortable bed, with way too much bedding and spending five glorious nights with her in it!!) So yeah, 2024 will forever be the year I saw her again! And that will stay with me until the next time we can meet!
What else?! There was Jason and Paul in London, visiting the Tower of London (which was awesome) and clocking a lot of km's as usual. There was FINALLY meeting David fucking Tennant in the flesh and having my picture taken with him! (still remember that super soft jumper!) Also, Daleks and white peacocks and actual screwdrivers! There was FedCon and getting another pic with Anthony Rapp (who loved my earrings); falling even more in love with Melissa Navia and hoping she'll be back soon so I can get my pic with her as well!
There were two almost weeks in London in June and July, seeing all the plays (and Tom Holland, Ian McKellen, Toheeb Jimoh being amazing on said stages!), and for once a certain musician had great timing for we went there too!
Went to THREE Pride marches in my area in the most incredible summer weather, danced and sang, and hopefully made a difference!
Saw David Tennant on stage again (and am still sad that I was bored as hell during it!); saw Jodie Whittaker and Joel Fry in a very unhinged play which was at least engaging.
Spent three GLORIOUS days in the company of the most incredible fandom and the most loveable and loving cast in - you guessed it - London! I'm still not really over it - almost a year after our untimely cancellation that show's still thriving, still calling fans to cons to meet our beautiful cast who loves this show just as much as we do!!! And in all my years in fandom, and at events, NOTHING will EVER compare to the utter JOY and happiness this special fandom can live at OFMD cons!! *sighs happily* Still out of this world, that lot!!!
But the most important thing this year was spending time with amazing people, old friends, new friends - gorgeous people that make everything nice just that bit better!!!
So this is for them. All those fantastic people I've had the privilege to spent time with this year! I love you all and here's hope to see each and everyone of you again next year! Maybe just for a coffee or a week(end) somewhere nice!!! Spending time with you all is just the most fantastic way to ignore everything shitty that's happening out there.
Yes, of course I have to address that a bit. Here's hope the US gets through the next 4 years unscathed - keep fighting, my darlings. Hate doesn't get you anywhere ... but if you must, the orange asshole is an excellent choice for your loathing and maybe a curse or two! Look out for each other, keep each other safe - this too shall pass and there just has to be a point when it starts to get better.
Until then, create your own little bubbles of happiness and joy, share them with others, and make sure to HAVE FUN whenever you can!! Once again, sometimes ignorance is bliss is need to keep one safe and sane and lose their shit entirely. But also: fucking VOTE when it's time!! Vote the fuckers out as a certain pirate uses to say! Engage only as much as you can endure and make space for beautiful things that will outshine the bad things!
Hug your loved ones and tell them you love them. Get important recipes written down so you can recreate them (yes, our Sauerbraten turned out great even tho mom never left us a recipe!). Make peace with things you can't change and step away from it. Find new things/places and people that will bring you joy, that will listen to you and maybe even help you where they can. (Therapy is also an amazing tool!) Stay hydrated. Take your meds. And take one step at a time - little by little gets more done than trying to do everything at once.
Here's to all the good things that 2025 may bring. May it outshine everything bad that will happen. And maybe, just maybe, 2025 will become a good year after all!! Happy New Year, my darlings!
