From Below has earned its place as my favorite book I’ve read this year. The atmosphere it surrounds you with is phenomenal.

A short summary, a dive team explores a sunken cruise ship from almost 100 years ago. The ship comes alive.

The characters are fleshed out and inspire empathy to their stories. I truly was enraptured, captured, even, by this story.

The best environment to read From Below is during a windstorm, day or night, it doesn’t matter. This book will drag you into its atmosphere, whether you like it or not. You will be hooked on each word, feverishly devouring each chapter. It perfectly encapsulates underwater horror, with a little bit of body horror, too.

Darcy Coates is a wonderful addition to my library. I’m sure we’ll see more of her books featured on this blog in the future.
