I’m very curious about the worlds your Mers live in and how they work! Are many mers kept in enclosures? Is it against their will or are they okay/resigned to it? Are there tensions between mers and humans?
I hunger for lore :D
In some worlds mers can be kept in enclosures, but it's either because they want be there or need it temporarily to heal or for rehabilitation. There's probably places where they're held against their will, but then it's illegally so!
Runt lives in a marine rehabilitation center. Very much on his own free will. The staff keeps trying to get him to return to the ocean but nah. The man refuses, it's home. He's got everything he wants there; food, people (he loves people and attention so much), entertainment. Plus the ocean is terrifying (ironically he's got a bit of thalassophobia).
But the Saehlmers in large aren't kept anywhere against their will. If they live in an aquarium or such it's because they choose to and can leave whenever they want. People in general love the smaller Saehlmers so between them there's no tension. It's trickier with the larger ones, like Runt. They're very territorial and do not share space. No, not with humans either. So there's some bad blood there. Modern humans try to let them have their habitats in peace.
In Keiki's world the merfolk are generally seen as a good sign for sailors! You see a pod frolicking by the surface and you know the water is calm and free of any sea monsters! So they roam free and happily! :)
In the world of Merry, Tide and Cetus, there used to be tension between the merfolk and humans (also with the Nagas). It's mostly in the past, ebbing out during the early 1900s. Humans thought the mers were stealing their fish and wrecking their fishing gear. Some had tales of merfolk drowning sailors and eating them (very false). Some merfolk did steal fish from their nets. So it was a bit of hostility in some parts of the oceans. In the part where Merry lives, the mer and humans always lived in harmony. In the more northern seas the hostility was harsher. In modern days however there is none. Mers are not to be kept anywhere against their will by humans (they let the merfolk deal with their troublemakers by their own rules).
Poor Cetus is unfortunately an exception of this. He's not allowed to leave the bay because of the sheer havoc he'd cause on the ecosystems. Then he needs to take monthly injection or else he'll keep growing. And then he'd truly wreck the oceans and ultimately starve to death. So they just can't have him leave, but they do their best with him. :,)

Godly Sibling headcannons
Zeus/Jupiter
Jade,Rook,Silver
• favorite game: ZAP. It's like tag but they're chasing each other around in high altitudes and whoever is 'it' gets to stroke the others with lighting
• play in the rain together, sometimes they fly above the clouds because of how pretty it is up there
• while Jade and Rook do manage to deeply unsettle Silver, he still treats them with the respect of a younger brother
• always sense weather changes before they occur
• all know Morse code (thx Silver<3) and use storms to talk across dorms
•they rarely get into fights, but when they do Rook and Jade are ganging up on Silver.
• Silver is a pacifist and rarely fights back, preferring to dodge but has nearly given Rook a new haircut
• Spa/Relaxation day: sitting together, reading, drawing or napping on Rook's balcony (it's closed in with glass) during a rainstorm
Poseidon/Neptune
Floyd and Malleus

•Azul and Sebek are easy to get to relax, but Kalim (whose easygoing nature is a facade) is constantly in a silent state of stress and anxiety
• Spa/Relaxation day: dragging Kalim from his workshop and exploring ancient cities; Azul gushes about the history and culture, Sebek tells of wars and their tactics
Apollo
Riddle and Ace
• horrified to find out they were related

Hades/Pluto
Deuce, Ruggie, Epel, Idia, Ortho, Lilia
• Hide and seek in the dark. They're so silly about it & idia has the hardest time hiding.
• They own a pomegranate orchard that only the Demeter & Dionysus kids know about
• All harass each other via shadows, gems, and skeletons
• All absolutely DESPISE the rain
• each have an uncanny trait about them.(to be detailed in a later post)
• Relaxation/Spa day: Graveyard exploration. None of them are afraid of ghosts and can see spirits in places with low or zero magic concentration. Wandering through the woods at night, especially during spooky season. Abandoned buildings, parks, ect.
Thanatos & Hypnos
Leona and Vil
• flabbergasted when they found out they were related
• bicker in public but get along just fine in private
• vil always smells like lavender and warm milk
• Leona smells kinda like dirt and graveyard
• Leona (who secretly loves kids) takes Cheka to see Vil during photoshoots via shadow travel
• Vil uses shadow travel to escape paparazzi
• Leona owns a massive pillow collection for when Vil sleeps over
• Leona is a very rare type of demigod so he doesn't have a cabin (honorary cabin 15 member)
• Spa/Relaxation day: Vil has a half glass half brick wood and marble balcony in his room. They collect a bunch of pillows and make a nest on the balcony. They do skincare (Vil made Leona a routine) then drink some warm milk and honey while watching studio Ghibli movies and taking naps (they're always best on rain rainy days)

After a couple of days of relaxing and soaking up the wonderful atmosphere, we were ready for adventure so Guillermo at the resort pulled some strings and put together and all day Deep Sea Fishing Adventure for us.
We set an alarm to wake up early - breakfast at 6:30a and on the boat by 7a. The “Albatross” is owned by Bradd, but they had to find a “helper” as they only have a Captain for whatever reason.
At 7a, we jumped on a small boat at the dock that took us out to the Albatross. It was a very nice boat, piloted from the upper deck which made a nice comfortable mostly shaded space for us underneath. Bonus for the Albatross as it had a “head.” Much appreciated for an all day excursion offering beer!!
We met Captian Maynor and Alonso, the young man making the magic happen! They explained we’d motor out to sea about 1.5 hours, then we’d begin to troll for Mahi.
They both went up top and we enjoyed the scenery - looking at the beaches that we’d walked to the day before yesterday. The sea was very calm, and we both love riding in boats so we quickly settled in for the journey.
I was in the middle of my second (of many) naps for the day when the boat suddenly slowed - there was a large pod of dolphins, which apparently signal there are fish there too. I could have been satisfied just watching the dolphins! They were jumping on our wake and seemed to be having a ball!
Alonso quickly got to work rigging our eight poles for trolling. Some went directly off the back, others were strung from rigging off to either side. The result looked (from the boat) like a small school of fish frolicking behind us.
Then we waited. There were a few false alarms early on - very exciting. Lots more schools of porpoises, a couple more naps, and the morning lazed by.
At one point, a tiny bird appeared and tried several times to land on the rigging. He finally made it, and looked a little rough. He stayed there awhile, then took off and came back several times and once landed on the side of the boat close to me. I put some water into the cap of my water bottle and he had a few sips. He made a move towards my fingers and I yelped and dropped the water, and he flew off of course. But he kept coming back, getting a little braver each time. Alonso was just getting lunch out of the cooler so we tried to feed him some bread and fruit, but he didn’t eat anything. He got so used to us that he started walking on us - a bit freaky to me. He rested and drank some more water and looked less shaken than when he’d first arrived. He came and went a few more times, and then was just gone - hopefully to wherever home is!
We’d just cleaned up lunch when a fish finally hit - I was just getting the belt on when he dropped off. I didn’t have my sandals on and my feet were burning! I put my chacos on and soon another fish hit. Alonso set the hook and then handed it off to me while he brought in the other lines. It was tough work to bring the mahi in! I’m glad my hands are stronger from rowing!!
After that about another hour of trolling with no more bites. The crew felt bad, but we were okay with the result - great day in a boat on a beautiful sea - and fresh fish to share with others at the resort. We motored quite close to Cano Island, then turned towards land, arriving back at 4pm. Bradd met us at the dock and felt bad that we’d only got one fish. We were more excited to tell our story about the bird!
We were delighted to hear that we’d be in room #9 for the rest of our time here, so we showered and got really settled into the room. We still have some loud talking neighbors, but we’re used to it now.
They served my Mahi sushimi style for appetizers tonight, and it’ll be on the menu tomorrow night. We ate dinner with a couple from Oakland that just arrived and possibly bored them with our stories! It’s a different kind of vacation with not having to decide where to eat, and having rotating dinner companions. I like it!!

Coronis had a strange dream. She was floating...on a cloud. The mists were thick and heavy, and Nyx spread her inky fingers across the night sky, the view speckled with stars. She lay on the bank of a nimbus, looking over the endless vista of constellations and planets.
Dark shapes swam in those stars, constellations taking shape and frolicking in the starry sea. She saw Orion beat off Scorpio, and Ursa Major leading her cub with a gentle nudge.
She even saw Andromeda, peeling herself from the veil of stars to hover down. She had dark eyes, but was smiling, in that way all people want beautiful women to smile at them. The two faced each other, mortal to divine, Coronis looking up, and the constellation looking down.
Coronis felt her warm fingertips reach out and trace her neck, leading down to her necklace. Coronis sighed to feel a warm touch again, and lifted her own hand to keep it there-
And then the warmth was gone. And when Coronis woke, it was in a strange place.
She was alarmed. Her shelter was gone. She was lying on a different beach, with familiar paths and steps carved into the rock. She was laying on a secure raft, dry as a bone, and facing the rosy dawn. "What?" She gasped out loud. "How....what on earth happened?"
_____
Coronis rose to look for help. This time, she was lucky to find it.
"You'll be okay sweet thing-" A shorter Greek woman had come to her aid, her husband coming to help by bringing a warm cloak and a jug of fresh water when the castaway came wandering barefoot from the shore. "-you just had a tough time of it, didn'tcha?"
"Thank you." Coronis said with gratitude, accepting their hospitality. They had a little house near the beach, and the husband, as it turned out, often went to sea to take care of serious errands for the local magistrate. He clucked his tongue at the sight of her, all salty and looking as forlorn as an orphan.
"I'll take you to Athens when the ship comes back. There's only a few of them coming and going to the city to Chalaroste." He decided. "But it'll be at least a week. Maybe more."
"I'm indebted to you. I promise-" She assured. "-when we return to my family, I'll ask them to reward you for your trouble."
There were protests and insistence that it shouldn't be so, but Coronis was gentle and eased their concerns until they relented. In truth, Coronis thought of this sudden change over as nothing short of a miracle. Without proper shelter, or a means of keeping herself fed and watered, she would have most certainly died on that island.
Yet when she tried to fathom an explanation after telling her story, the wife had a most amazing answer.
"Sounds to me like you were saved by a nereid."
"A nereid?"
"Uh huh! Daughters of Triton." She declared. "They live in the sea, but once in a while you'll see them do a good turn to a lost soul. I imagine you must have caught one's eye. There's all sorts of 'em out there after all!" She giggled. "If you were pulled from the water and brought here, I'm willing to bet anything."
______
Coronis was safe. She was given a place to sleep, food to eat, and the good wife gave her a dry chiton to wear and some old sandals that fit her. Coronis was a bit helpless with the chores, but enthused regularly that they would be rewarded. They only insisted she take it day by day, and rest.
But the maiden was not accustomed to leaving debts unpaid.
The first day after a peaceful rest, she went down to the beach. Her raft had been pulled ashore, away from high tide. So she began to construct a rudimentary shrine, with the raft as the base. Laying stones to form a cairn, she gathered shells on the beach, picked flowers in the fields, and brought a spare bowl from the wife that she filled with fresh water.
And with a borrowed hammer and chisel, she clumsily carved a dedication.
To the Maiden of the Sea, Blessed by the foam of Aphrodite Benevolent heroine of castaways
And at this little altar, the day turning to dusk, and the sun setting in orange and violet hues, she knelt to give a prayer.
"Nameless Nereid-" She prayed aloud. "-I thank you for your aid, and pray an opportunity to thank you will come again. Please continue to watch over me, and I will lay my offerings at your noble father's altar when I am returned to my own."
The Siren Call: Little Mermaid AU
@the-only-noonstar
The journey had been planned as a small getaway. A trip to visit her ailing grandfather in the nearby archipelago. Forneas was aging fast, and his wits had gone, so Coronis was sent to soothe him for a few months before she was to return home to Athens. Her grandfather lived in the Aegean Sea, on a island meant for leisure and health.
The trip was thwarted by a heavy storm that blew it far off course. Coronis had been made seasick and forced below deck with a swimming head and a nauseous stomach. She was mostly asleep when the ship sunk.
Though the captain was well seasoned and worth his salt, and the crew all able-bodied men with many voyages...something lured them off course. And the rocks that laid in wait under the surf cracked the ship open like a oyster, sending its inhabitants screaming to the depths.
When Coronis woke, her cabin was half submerged, her clothes soaked through. She barely managed to paddle to the open door, but the water poured in and she felt herself beginning to sink.
A dark sky hung above. She tried to hold her breath, but her fear seized her, made her limbs to lead. Am I going to die? She thought in a fit of terror, feeling the cold water pressing in hard, the salt trying to force its way in. Is...is this really the end for me?
She tried to swim. But her arms might as well have belonged to a lame duck. Coronis held her breath as long as she could, but a single gasp filled her mouth with seawater and she felt her vision grow spotty.
Poseidon, Hades, Artemis....She made a frantic prayer with her last conscious thought. I beg....forgiveness. Guide me to asphodel meadows...grant me peace-
It all turned dark.

Hello again! Earlier I requested Horned King with a gothic lolita s/o, so I was wondering if you do another request of Captain Hook meets or with a mershark s/o?
Hey again! I'm so so sorry for the wait, but 100% I can do this!
Captain Hook x MerShark!S/O:
His first indication that there was something afoot was that the mermaids were not frolicking around mermaid cove.
They were attempting to climb the Jolly Rodgers anchor.
After much shreiking, jeers and one memorably thrown conch that knocked Mr. Starkey overboard, all he had managed to garner was that something had scared the fish girls out of their idyllic little cove and that they were not going to leave until it was dealt with.
His best glare and hook brandishing got him a raspberry and chorus's of "I've seen worse, fish-bait." so now he's paddling furiously to the cove to see if he can bribe whatever this is to eat the stupid fish girls and maybe blow up their favourite basking rock in the meantime.
When he gets there, there is indeed something lurking on their favourite basking rock.
Sharks come in many sizes, but you were at least double the length of a standard mermaid, grey scales shimmering in the light, and swaying your tail languidly from side to side as you basked. One eye, unfathomably dark, opened lazily to assess his approach and he resisted the urge to apologise and immediately paddle back to his ship to see if he could shoot the merfolk back into the sea and call it a day.
That would be rude and ruin his first impression, stop quaking Smee.
First impressions became second, thirds and many more over the coming days as the merfolk refused to leave his ship and you refused to leave the cove.
He found you facinating to watch. You moved in and out of the water with all the grace of an apex predator, bumping his little rowboat for laughs occasionally, though his sea legs held him in good stead even as your dorsal fin broke the surface around him in classic shark style.
Unlike the pretty fish girls typical of neverland, you held more shark physiology on your human upper half. Webbed and clawed hands, fluttering gills along your ribs, the aforementioned dorsal and side fins. And, of course, a mouthfull of razor teeth that gleamed delightedly as you laughed at one of his stories.
Ticktok decided to try for a mouthfull of your dear captain on day six and you body slammed ten feet of crocodile clean out of the water. Hook has never been more in love even as he clings to your back as you both speed through the water toward his ship, the rowboat in pieces.
The mermaids scream as you bodily launch yourself at the anchor chain and cackle - taking mock bites at the air as they dive for safety. Hook climbs aboard from there and grandly invites you to stay around his vessel as his crew go bug eyed at the sight of you.
You accept and take delight in patrolling the waters for further ticktok encounters, scaring the shit out of Hooks crew is an excellent passtime also.
Except Smee. He grew wise to your tactics and frankly negotiated your cooperation in dealing with his captain. He earned your respect for that.

Pt 2 , Pt. 3 , Pt. 4
You swam about in the ocean. Your pod had migrated to warmer, more tropical waters to switch up hunting grounds. Swimming in-between your similarly aged pod mates, you issued a silent challenge to go into a race to the sea shelf. There were two males with extremely light, white-looking hair and striking purple eyes who took you up and torpedoed in the water towards your target. The three of you were neck and neck. The largest male had an extraordinarily well-built, lightly tanned, defined upper torso. His silver and purple bi-colored body resembled that of a whiptail thresher in the pattern. It ended with long sharp homocercal fins. The edges had tiny serrated barbs running up his dorsal and anterior body. His pelvic and pectoral fins were knifed much like a shark’s would be. His body was built for speed and agility. Short bursts of high-velocity action were his forte. Often, he would be part of the ambush party.
The other male who dwarfed you in size was built stockier than you and the first. His caudal, pectoral, and pelvic fins were smaller in size. His green and white patterning resembled that of a juvenile tiger shark. The upper torso was more tanned than the larger male. His tail coloration was a murky Phthalo, hunter, and forest green with silver streaking across his body randomly. He could swim longer distances at a sustained pace, putting him in the stalking party when larger prey was found. His hair was whiter than silver like your other companion. His body was littered with scars, giving him a fearsome look. It didn’t help that, like now, when he smiled, he looked exceptionally unhinged.
The two were your best friends, even if they had hatched several seasons before. The three of you just vibed that way. Darting between each other, the most prominent in size male pushed forward using his massive tail to disrupt the water in front of you, throwing you off your course slightly. You spun in the water but quickly fanned out your fins, allowing you to do a badass slow-motion barrel roll in the water. Righting yourself before propelling your body forward.
You had dark sienna skin with close-cropped hair. Not wanting to deal with getting your hair caught in coral or anything else that floated around. You were of average built but had a buxom chest. Plump full lips and deep, dark brown eyes. Your fins were some of the most gorgeous in your entire pod. Purples, black, and gold resembling a lionfish. Too many shades of purple littered your scales with a speckling of gold and black dotting up your belly, giving the appearance of lights. You had feathertail-styled fins, which, when fanned, made for an impressive or intimidating display. All depending on what you were needed to do. Your position in the pod was to herd prey that you found into the ambushers. On occasion, you were used for the intimidation factor because of how massive you looked when on full display.
The green-finned male darted up from underneath you, trying to knock you off course. You expertly evaded his attack, pushing forward with more vigorous thrusts as you were determined to overtake the silver and purple mer in front of you. Unfortunately, he proved to be the strongest, crossing the shelf and posturing in the open waters. His pose could only be described as overly flashy and highly flamboyant. You crossed second with the last member of your trio, bringing up the rear looking non-plussed. You slowed down behind the winner, reached out, and grabbed the ribbon he used to keep his hair up in a ponytail, yanking it and darting down towards the darker, denser waters beneath the overhang of the sea shelf.
“Give that back!” He yelled at you. Gills on his neck flaring. You feign ignorance as the third member of your group cackled. “Shut up, Sanemi,” the first male barks out. “Make me, Tengen.” Sanemi dared him. The two begin to circle each other in a predatory fashion. You knew a challenge to dominance when you saw one. Rolling your eyes, you sighed, turning your body to face the darkness beneath you. “Guys, guys, behave. It’s not that serious.” The two men turned to glare at you. “Stay away from there!” your green friend warned. “That’s not our domain. You’d be eaten up, and our pod would miss its second most attractive member.” He stated matter-of-factly.
“Uhuh, sure, Tengen.” You dismiss them and swim closer. Curious about the differences in the weight of the water. The water felt much cooler here and heavier. An unusual combination you have never encountered before. Above you, the two mers circled, watching you while trying to show off who was the better specimen to each other. A mock show of superiority. Ignoring their antics, you got close enough to touch the stark line of demarcation. That separated the boundary between the true deep sea and where you dwelt.
You reached out to touch but stopped seeing something red moving about. It peaked in and out. Never appearing in the same spot twice, but it was captivating. Soon the red was joined by fluffy warm yellow tufts of hair. You realized you were looking at someone or something’s hair. You halted your swimming, entranced. Vaguely you registered that you needed to back up. A chill crept up your spine that warned you danger was nearby. Still, you could not break away from watching the hypnotic effect the waving tufts had on you.
Closer you inched. Not touching the line. Keeping to your side of the ocean but feeling the dual pull to retreat to safety and to go forward eating away at you. You almost gave in to the urge to go forward when you felt yourself jerked back up harshly, painfully, and quickly. Tengen and Sanemi Grab your arms, digging their stilettoed nails into your flesh. You yelped, startled while they swore in such an amount you would have complained had you not been stupefied by the most beautiful pair of scarlet and goldenrod eyes. They held you to such an extent you momentarily forgot to pull water in with your gills and breathe. It was only when you saw the reddened claws that came to the nail bed of a brandy-toned arm connected to an immensely muscled forearm did you realize what had almost transpired and sucked in water. Thus, replenishing your oxygen. The eyes glared at you with pure malice, then disappeared into the darkness along with the hand that had almost dragged you to your no doubt demise.
The two men didn’t stop swimming with you till you were halfway back to your pod. They released you and swam in front, worriedly biting their lips as they looked you over. You blinked a few times, getting your sense back. The weight of the situation settling into your gut. The moment your eyes met Sanemi’s, he exploded in a rage. “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT! YOU ALMOST DIED, DUMBASS! WE TOLD YOU NOT TO GO THERE AND WHAT DO YOU DO!? THE EXACT OPPOSITE!” He swam aggressively towards you, warningly prompting you to flare out some of your fins. He ignored it and got close enough to poke you in the chest accusingly. “Do you have a death wish?” he bit out. Anger radiated out from him in thick waves. You puffed up defensively, not wanting to admit you had majorly fucked up just now. Tengen watched the other, light-haired male rant at you. Steadily watching you deflate in silent acknowledgment of dangerous your slip up.
Once you looked like a limp noodle, he swam over and separated the two of you. “Alright, alright, I think she gets it now. You can stop beating her. We got her to safety, and now she owes us a life debt. I’d say it all worked out.” He attempts to raise the mood. Sami’s eyes narrow at you, and he rudely swims passed you. Hissing and swearing. You rub the back of your neck and slowly turn to follow him. You feel a warm arm pull you up into stiff, thick pectorals. Flipping yourself over, you bury your face in them as Tengen swims forward, holding you. Humming silently and he rubs the little hair you have with affection.
“He’ll come around.” The man holding you assures you as the sounds of your families can be heard off in the distance. “He’s still an asshole.” you lamented lamely. Trying to hide your bruised ego. Tengen growls before he speaks. “He was in a fantastic mood until you decided to be a complete and utter idiot and do the one thing we are warned not to do from hatch day onwards.” You groan loudly and speak in sync with him. “Never go past the sea meridian.” He huffs and glares at you. Not releasing you as he swims in between the members of your pod.
As the pair of you swim amongst the others, you peek out from around his bicep. Some say hi while others stare in shock. The two of you made a striking pair, and how he held you protectively was sure to start rumors about your relationship. You rebury your face in his chest, not wanting to deal with the drama that would be you becoming the fourth mate of one Uzui Tengen. You braced your arms against his taunt abdominals and pushed off. “I’m gonna go find Sanemi and apologize,” you say dumbly. Trying to get away from prying eyes. “Or you could just agree to swim with me, and the ladies and Sanemi can come to pick you up later.” He eyes you mischievously. “Tempting, but I am gonna have to pass. I feel like that would get me in even more trouble.” you dart out of his grasp as he reaches for you.
“Tell that ass I said hi, and we are responsible for tomorrow’s hunting party,” Tengen calls out after you. You wave an affirmation with your hand as you head off to search for your ill-tempered companion. Starting your search along the more predictable reef crevasses. When he could not be found hiding among the anemones, you started probing in the eel caves. Still coming up empty. You grabbed a few eels and bonked them unconscious, taking them with you as you searched for your friend. What’s an apology without food, right? If you come across someone, you would ask if they had seen Sanemi, and for the most part, you were told no. Eventually, you started swimming towards the cove the younger members used to play in. Hoping to find him with his brother Genya.
Thankfully you did. The two were both lying on the beach. Basking in the fading sunlight. You breached the water slowly and carefully, took aim, and tossed two eels at them. Smacking each guy in their gut with a 10lb fish. They oof’d and looked up at you with malicious intent. “See! I brought dinner.” You cheerfully countered. The smaller, similarly colored male mer beside him groaned at your antics, took the ill, hauled himself into the water, and swam off. Offering you a half-asses “Thank you” as he swam off. You crept through the water till you reached the shoreline and the tip of the remaining, still angry man’s tail.
“So, something tells me that bringing you dinner isn’t gonna make up for today,” you say bashfully. Knowing your error and finally owning up to it. “No,” Sanemi replies monotone. You look up at him pleadingly. “Please.” You whine in your most pathetic voice. “I’m sorry. These fluffy red and yellow tufts were floating in my face, and I couldn’t stop looking.” You rambled. He stared at you, then closed his eyes in a sigh. “That explains why you ignored our shouting. From where we were at, we saw a red and gold leviathan tail. That’s why we grabbed you like we did and hauled ass.” the concern evident in his words. “We’ll be safe here, but we definitely need to be more careful along the shelf. Those types don’t cross into our waters often, but if that thing was that close, it could mean we need to move along and find new grounds to stay at for the rest of the year. “
You crawled up the beach, flopping down on top of him and running your fingers gently over his deep green-colored scales. “That,” you began, “sounds terrifying. As you both were pulling me away, I saw the most beautiful and amazing...” you trailed off, watching Sanemi’s eyes get darker as you complimented the man who had most definitely tried to kill you.
Since you had hatched, you had always been taught about the three classes of merfolk. There were the dainty and waif-like mermaids that stayed in cold waters. Sirens like yourself and your pod stuck to warm waters and occasionally migrated to keep from depleting y’alls share of ocean fish. Then there were the Leviathans. Named for their extreme size and lengths. They were large, carnivorous, and capable of surviving in the true deep and at the surface level. Encounters with them were few and far between but often held fatalities.
You nuzzled into Sanemi’s abs as you thought about the horror stories you had heard about Leviathans and how close your premature end had come. Your thoughts were broken, however, when your living pillow shoved some eel bites into your mouth. You chewed compliantly and opened your mouth for more after you swallowed. He rolled his eyes at you but continued to feed you. Once finished, you did the same for him until nothing was left to eat.
Rolling over onto the sand, you squealed happily, stomach-sated and somewhat positive that your friends were no longer mad enough to attempt to drown you while you slept. “You guys can brag and say you survived a Leviathan now,” you said like the gremlin menace you were inside. Sanemi hummed happily as he pondered this new information. “SHIT! Tengen is going to take all the credit!” He exclaimed, turning himself over and pulling towards the sea. “Come on! He is going to take you out to be even more pathetic than you actually are, and I’m going to sound like a damsel in distress if we let him tell the story.” He complained loudly. You waved him off with one of your dark hands. “I’ll leave that to you boys. I don’t want to see people’s reactions to The-woman-who-almost-wasn’t.” you lamented.
Sanemi shrugged, winked at you then dove beneath the surface. Off to claim his bit of glory. Probably to make you look even dumber than you had been. In your defense, the other men had a pretty good lure if he looked like that. You were used to Mermaids looking gaudy, but this was different. The power that radiated from the eyes you saw had promised you a dark end. Thinking about them chilled you to the bone but also sent a more confusing tingle down your spine. You forcefully pushed the thoughts out of your mind and instead focused on absorbing the remaining warmth in the black sand.
You woke up, and it was much darker. Not realizing you had fallen asleep, you stretch out and slowly return to the much more tepid waters. Whimpering as it stung your skin and scales initially with the temperature change. After a few seconds, your body adapted, and you began to swim back to your pod. It was late enough that almost everyone except for a few night fish would be asleep.
You decided to dick around for a bit before returning and swam around the outskirts of the reef y’all would be occupying and caring for over the next 6 months minimum. It was lush with life and color, even at this hour. Fish darted to and fro in all sorts of varieties and combinations. Different types of sea life clung to rocks, each other, and other bits n bobs. You picked up a few pieces of coral, admiring their beauty. Seeding them into holes so that the reef could grow and expand.
Time was again lost to you as you immersed yourself in your task. You had just finished setting a pretty piece of red coral into a new crevice when you noticed a distinct lack of fish in the area. In fact, there was a distinct lack of any life moving around you. Something that alarmed you greatly. Your eyes begin to search around you for the perceived threat. If it was a shark or two, you could easily handle that on your own. Anything more significant and you would need help.
Off in the distance, you saw something flitting about. Winding and weaving with no rhyme or reason. Your head tilted in curiosity, danger sense still telling you to be wary. You kept your position as you watched the gold thing flit about. You could see bright red as it got closer, and the truth dawned on you. Quickly you darted into a crack in the reef that was just big enough for you. Apologizing to the denizens, you squeezed as far back into it as possible. Slowing your movements and water intake to cause as few vibrations in the water as possible.
It seemed like an eternity before you dared to move your head towards the doorway. Scared of what you would see. A hesitant glance revealed absolutely nothing. A few fish swam by hurriedly, and you sighed and deflated. Tension rolling off your body. Your mind was clearly fucking with you if it had you thinking a Leviathan would leave its territory and swim a decent number of kilometers away from the deep waters to where your group was. You chuckled to yourself, leaned back, and floated against some smooth coral. Closing your eyes in relief.
When you opened them, you stared straight into those hypnotizing orbs you had seen earlier. Only this time, there was a full face to accompany them. Brandy-colored skin, full lips drawn back into an unhinged smile, and a beautiful face framed by a maned of blond and red hair. You couldn’t see much passed his mane except for deep sanguine scales streaked with gold as some of his lower body was visible. You couldn’t see anything passed his neck either. He was hanging onto the roof and leaning over to look at you.
You knew it was a he from the deep chuckle that vibrated the water around it. He stayed staring at you, unblinking. You held his stare, also not blinking. Worried that if you did, that would be the end. A good, solid minute passed, and you whined. “Can you blink or something so I can blink? This is getting awkward.” The creature before you looks at you curiously and complies. You quickly blink several times and rub your eyes. “Aye, how do you hold your eyes open like that? It’s creepy.” You question him.
His smile drops, and he stares at you with the most unimpressed face you have ever seen. You defensively ask him a quick “What!?” and wait for a response. When none is given, you huff and blow out irritated bubbles. “I should kill you.” a deep voice drawls out. Not as deep as your pod’s defensive commander, Gyomei. You’re brought out of your comparison of “who has the best voice” as your brain once again slowly registers the statement. “You could, but that wouldn’t be fun now, would it?” you respond with as much faked joy as you could manage. What you were not going to do was let on how terrified you were of something that could end you without effort.
“It’s not about fun.” He responds bored sounding. “Dude, what the fuck!? Life should be fun. If you just end me, then your life will once again be boring and full of whatever it is you do over there on the dark side.” you supplied, hoping your bullshit was working. “I hunt, I sleep. Why should I focus on fun?” He casually inquires, pulling himself down into the cave. You could now see his muscular upper body. He was similarly built to Sanemi. Tengen still made both look scrawny. You made your appraisal obvious to go along with your ruse and also because you were shameless, and if this was the end, then you were going out being a bold, badass bitch. Not a chicken wuss.
“I mean, if you never had fun, I can see why you would say that. But like, I’m here now. I can teach you all about fun, and you can leave me the fuck alone.” You did your best to look irritated, turning your head down and away from him. Your heart thundering in your chest, hoping the display of submissive indifference would work. The massive male in front of you laughed loudly. “What an interesting meal you are.” Your head snapped up as you felt his warmth around you. He was close enough that your noses brushed, and you gasped. Instinct taking over you, “Meeped” and struck him with the heel of your palm upwards. Gasping at your actions as you realized what you had done.
Blood floated in the waters between you, originating from his nose. He stared at you, and you stared back. He was very unimpressed at this point, and it showed. The gills on his neck slowly flattened themselves, and you realized that he was moving in for the end. Throwing caution to the wind, you slapped him will all your might. “Look bitch, if you don’t get up outta my face, I promise you that you will have found the right one today!” That got a reaction out of him. His eyes widened, and he leaned away from you. Shock evident.
You flared up as much as possible in the cramped space and bared your teeth at him. A hand shot out at you and grabbed your jaw. Defiantly you raised your chin and shook yourself out of his grasp. “Bitch I told you,” you started but stopped when you saw him smile. You didn’t know what kind of smile, nor did you care. The only thing that mattered was that the monster of your nightmares, the literal only thing in the ocean you had to truly fear, was smiling at you menacingly. “You live today, little fish.” He said as he stroked your cheek gently with the hand that had grabbed you earlier.
The Leviathan, before you released, you pulled out of the crevice. Looking at you once more with those predatory eyes, he pushed off and disappeared out of your sight. You waited a few minutes before you slowly peered out. Looking around and seeing no sign of him, you bolted back to your pod’s haven. Wanting the safety and comfort of your friends.

A SWIRL OF WATER (MAKES MY HEART A CLEAR POOL)
pairing: trafalgar law x fem!reader genre: mild angst, fluff, finally getting together, domesticity (?) warnings: n/a note: wano spoilers! speculation. first time writing in (checks notes; months) but here we are! listen to strawberry swing by coldplay while reading :) synopsis: law spends time with his reunited lover.
as the country of wano approaches, law almost can't recognise it. the ever-clear, rushing water (still infested with koi) gives way to a land that he can't believe is wano. what were once wastelands are now green, lush expanses of woods with komainu frolicking about, the sky now a perfectly clear blue even in industrial areas, and the nation looking invigorated. thriving.
even once starving towns like hakumai or ringo, with their depressing weather no longer sported empty, deserted looks. the people were out and about, with enough to eat and drink - though he supposes that could be attributed to the opening of the country to the rest of the new world - but it would be difficult to deny that wano was doing well in the years after kaido's defeat and kozuki momonosuke ascending as rightful shogun.
he now finds himself appreciating the fine architecture of the flower capital, something that he couldn't have done in his previous visit, because, well, he was on the run.
he is, in a way, forced to be here as a part of what he calls "luffy's grand tour of going to places he's fixed", where the newly-crowned pirate king is leisurely sailing around the world and visiting liberated countries. after a somewhat pleasant reunion with the strawhats at punk hazard (though he won't ever tell them that), he is now at wano.
and despite being treated like literal royalty by the people, as esteemed guests of the ruler, he can't subdue the irritating, non-medical lump in his throat as he travels to the shogun's abode. because the fact of the matter is that years after its liberation, wano may retain the name of kozuki momonosuke in it's association, but for trafalgar d. water law, surgeon of death, an emperor of the sea, one of the worst generation, wano has always been your country in his heart, and nobody else's.
the twang of the shamisen is beautiful - harmonic, as usual - but you can't find the time to appreciate it. you've been splitting hairs over the straw hats, heart pirates and kid pirates all showing up at once at the country's shores for a "surprise visit!". making arrangements for their welcome, stay, hospitalities was a headache, to say the least. the very least luffy could have done was announced his next island to terrorise (er.. you mean grace) to give you notice, but luffy was never one to make grand plans, you think wistfully.
so you throw yourself into preparing for their stay at the flower capital - their stops on the way at kuri and other towns being prolonged to enjoy the culture and food - just so you can ignore, for fleeting moments, the irritating beat of your heart at the thought of seeing trafalgar law after all these years.
but it seems that the time has finally come, with you being mere doors away from the man who you fell in love with all those years ago, back when he was a liberator who came with luffy and you were a mere teahouse girl. you wipe your sweaty palms against the fine silk of your kimono.
how time flies - he is now an emperor of the sea, and you are the head of cultural affairs in the kozuki shogunate, but one thing you both failed to suppress after all these years was the fact that the both were irrevocably in love.
you push the heavy double doors open with ease.
the feast is going well so far. as all feasts do, when they involve luffy. (though you're grateful nobody has broken into drunken brawl yet)
(scratch that, zoro and sanji look awfully close to doing that. it's best if you take the sake bottle away from the swordsman and introduce sanji to one of the courtesans) excusing yourself from nami and hiyori's company, you manage to squeeze yourself from the sweaty crowd of drunken bodies in the shogun's lawn to approach the bickering marimo and cook. you're just about to muster a halfhearted greeting and grab the bottle, but before you even do, you trip over someone's abnormally large boot (you spot eustass kidd in the corner of your vision, deeply involved in a drinking contest with momonosuke and luffy).
the world becomes a blur of green grass and soft yellow lamplight, and you stiffen your shoulders, preparing for impact with the soil, eyes scrunched up until you realise - oh. you're not falling.
you certainly aren't, you realise, as you look up at a familiar, grumpy face gazing at you. the grip law has on your shoulders is firm, and you're quick to jump out of his embrace and clearing your throat.
fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck- "ahem. thank you for catching me, law."
he shrugs noncommitally.
"you've always been clumsy, y/n," he responds gruffly, and you seethe. really, he sees you after years and this is what he says! no long-lost greetings, not even a faked how-have-you-been?
trafalgar law is really still the same. your anger wanes, and you relax. he's still looking at you intently, and his expression is bored, disinterested.
he looks well. the tenseness that he used to store in his shoulders is not there (as much). his face, though grumpy, is relaxed. his eyes convey the message of someone who has made peace with whatever demons he was facing. you know his heart is a whole lot lighter now that it's not chained to avenging someone else's.
you can still read his face like the back of your hand. he wants you to continue. so you oblige, under the starry sky, the clear melody of the shamisen, over the joyful roar of pirates from all over the world, through the oranges of the paper lanterns and the green of the grass.
"it's been a while," you sigh.
"i know", he replies, crossing his arms.
to him, you look like a dream. like you always have. not the most elegant or stunning one in the room, but you radiate comfort. like you genuinely care, like if he went on a tangent about the pulmonary artery, you would try your best to listen. if anything, you look more confident within your own skin (if your previous confidence was lacking), but it's self-assured. after all these years, you still feel like home, despite being 2 feet away from him. you tug at his fucking heartstrings, even though anatomically, he has none.
"i missed you," you find yourself saying. it's desperate. it's too forward, too early. you've revealed your hand, placed all your cards on the table. he will no doubt take all your money and run away.
luckily, law is a rich man. he does no such thing.
"me too," his words being a bare whisper over the loud hum of the crowd, who have all melted into the background for you. his words, so low and subdued are just for you. only for your ears. it settles a stir in your heart, the whirlpool shrinking. little by little, until it is a swirl of water. (but it is still there, do not be mistaken.)
"how was your journey?"
"don't be fucking daft now, y/n. we've lost years, and you're going to go on with pleasantries?"
"well, time has passed. what do you suggest we do?"
so law does the only thing he knows to do - make up for it.
he has his schedule cleared. you're the one who does it for him, in fact, and decide that there is no better way to show trafalgar law around new-and-improved wano than by doing it yourself. instead of spending all day hemming and hawing over tourist spots, you lead him through the vibrant streets and backalleys with one hand firmly through his.
the crew gives him hell for this every night, obviously, giggling and making jokes like preschoolers, but he can't help but let them when he sees the adorably flustered look you sport as he wishes you good-night outside your chambers.
it's nice being in love again. it's like meeting an old friend, except there's no awkwardness and he knows exactly where to pick up from. he's been doing better lately, but as he sailed all across the new world, thoughts of you swirled around his head, mimicking the wispy clouds in the sky of this country.
a summer island with pristine beaches and aquamarine waters - you would enjoy it here. a bar in a hidden corner of loguetown; he wishes you would come with him. a cave found in a godforsaken corner of sabaody with glittering stalagmites of mica; they glitter in a way that falls short to the sparkle of your eyes.
he missed you at sea. horribly so.
for you, it's like fitting the last tile into a mosaic. the feeling of guilt and exhaustion stops, the idea that you were running from love is no longer present. the wildfire that races across the boundaries of your heart - and spills over to the borders of the island - is extinguished.
you are at ease, more relaxed than you've ever been.
you love wano, you love seeing it's growth, the people, but it felt so small when you'd read the papers, reading all about the new pursuits and adventures of law in the new world. you'd have this feeling that you are but a tiny pinpoint on the map that he has spread out on his table everyday, just one in a mere one thousand of places to go to.
there's an estate, just by the outskirts of the flower capital that is originally the shogun's, but has been lent to you indefinitely. it's vast, acres of woods, with a pond for koi and a small cottage surrounded by sakura trees.
you spend law's last two weeks in wano there. there's a question at the back of both of your heads, that you drown out in mornings of domesticity, afternoons of napping and evenings of drinking and chatting.
since you can't cook for shit, and have been blessed with a house full of servants to cook and clean for you as you work, you leisurely wake up in the mornings to see a breakfast for two set on the outside pavilion, with law fingering through some obscure medical book borrowed from the archives.
the morning sun warms your bones, and you pull your kimono closer at the chill in the air. approaching the table, you ruffle law's mussed-up bedhead, and he grabs your hand to deliver a soft kiss to your knuckles as he continues reading the text.
"ooh, taiyaki. thank you," you practically sing, doing a quick bow with your chopsticks and raising a surprisingly cute fish cake to your mouth.
"how is it?", he asks, placing a faded green bookmark into the book and snapping it shut. you give him a thumbs up with rosy cheeks and a full mouth, and it's satisfaction that crosses his face.
"i would have never expected you to cook," you giggle, reaching for another one as he simply hums in response.
"well, since bepo basically eats fish raw and the rest are good for nothing boozehounds, someone had to do the work on a submarine. thankfully, ikkaku managed to dig up an old cookbook from somewhere, and since then i've been doing this", he huffs, gazing off into the distance.
you can't help but chuckle at the mental image of a grumpy law cooking breakfast first thing in the morning on the polar tang for a crew of rascals.
"what're you thinking?"
"nothing. don't waste the food!"
"i'm the one who cooked it, woman?!"
in the afternoons, it is you who works and law who dozes under the shade of an evergreen sakura blossom tree.
his head in your lap, he catches petals as they drift off into the wind, and there's a fairly reasonable sized pile in his palm right now as he squints up at the sun rays filtering through the blobs of varying shades of pink.
you, on the other hand, card one hand through his hair and intently study documents with the other. you hum a tune - a folk song about a woman searching for her samurai all across the land - and continue reading.
all is well, until your hand retracts from its rightful place in his hair to grasp at the newspaper and jot something down. he can't help but let out a grunt of annoyance.
"ssh, i'm trying to work," you swat absent-mindedly at his forehead, and he frowns. small furrows appear on his tan skin.
"you can work like this," he instructs, taking your wrist in one heavy, tattooed palm and setting it back on his head.
"i need to make notes," you beseech him, but his grip is vice-like, and you know when the odds are against you, so you resign yourself to a defeat.
"i can make notes for you," he smirks, motioning for the paper and notepad.
you, surprisingly, blush furiously and clutch both to your chest frantically. of course, that does not go unnoticed by your petty lover, who in quickly snatches them out of your looser grasp.
"this month's horoscope? really, y/n, you believe in that crap?", he snorts derisively.
"it's legit! madame ping from water 7 has really impacted my life, okay?", you try to weakly defend your guilty secret of noting down the horoscope every month to somehow ordain your future.
"water 7? not only is it baseless, you're listening to a marine?"
"see? this is why i didn't wanna show you," you wail, covering your face with your hands.
"hm, let's see what you've been noting," he says smugly. "libra: too many things on your mind can dampen passion, but your partner will have the solution!", he says in a high-pitched falsetto, to which you roll your eyes at.
"so, y/n, what solutions do you propose?", he asks, wiggling his eyebrows in a stupidly endearing gesture. you sigh. how infuriating this man is, how easily does he drive you crazy?
in one swift motion, you tilt your head downwards (he meets you halfway), to press your lips onto his, moving them languidly against his more chapped ones under the warmth of the golden afternoon sun.
the newspaper and notepad fall out of his grasp. an effective solution indeed.
evenings are for gossip.
the sake flows freely, so do secrets that were sworn to never leave the halls of court. and law, is surprisingly, a massive gossip too. he devours every salacious piece of news with a politely curious "oh", or a backhanded comment about how he "knew it was going to happen", but as the moon two of you across the hours, he talks even more, often cutting you to deliver his own verdicts.
the cicadas strike up their orchestra as you and him sit by the edge of the koi pond, talking like old friends as the moonlight grew on ripples of water caused by the luminescent koi.
"oh god, hiyori refused to shut up when she heard that silly marimo was going to come," you giggle, a happy tinge of red coating your cheeks as you confide to law about hiyori's delight at the thought of meeting zoro again.
"hah, i knew it," law says with a small smile, pouring another glass of sake for himself. "zoro's not too unhappy about being here either."
"i hope not, otherwise i'll be dealing with a very sad princess when i go back to the capital," you chuckle cheerily. you instantly regret your words, attributed to your tipsy nature as law stares at you.
uncharacteristically for him, he too, had been avoiding talking about the "after." after he leaves, to go on to raftel and god valley, after you choose to stay back, the aftermath of you realising your love for each other - physically expressing it, even - but choosing to do so only once, and never again.
if law's learnt anything through the three weeks he's spent here, getting drunk, feasting, spending afternoons and mornings and nights with you, it's that it's not enough.
the time he spends with you, he feels, will never be enough. every day wiled away with you is a day well spent, well-earned for him. he wants this with you onboard the polar tang. he wants to cook breakfast for you, to kiss you good morning and good night, to have you hold him. he's far too tired of running away from love and far too old to find someone else, someone who will accept him and give him solace the way you do.
hell, he knows you better than you do. you like 300-count bedsheets, a special type of tea imported from dressrosa, sake from kuri, how he hugs you from the back (he's heard your heartbeat), when he kisses your hand, late night talking, and the fact of the matter is that he loves all of it, as he loves all of you.
so he says it.
"i don't know where we're going to go after the last few islands. i don't have any agenda of going anywhere, so," he clears his throat, feeling the burn of your curious eyes on his.
"what do you say of coming with me? we could go anywhere you want."
the smile you give him is so sweet, so calm, like you've been waiting for this all of your life (in a way, you have.) like you've been waiting for him all your life. and now he's here, holding his hand out for you before he's swept away by the current.
you take it.
"let's start with the north blue. take me to your home."

I don’t own Record of Ragnarok, at all.
Tw/w: none
____
Poseidon could not understand. He could not comprehend why an element that water diffuses would come straight to it's enemy. Yet here he was holding a fire breathing mortal in his arms.
The god was at first fascinated by your interest and why you kept coming onto his island castle. Soon he found that while you lived on Earth, you'd shape your fire into sea creatures as well as environmental messages. For example, how you get nothing from fish except for the plankton they eat. (AN #Seaspiracy!) He also learned that you loved the ocean, and tried everything in your power to keep it safe, despite forgetting to turn the lights off sometimes.
You genuinely cared for his kingdom.
Poseidon looked down as you laid on his chest snuggling into him. Your (color) hair shimmered in the moonlight that sifted through his curtains. He softly smiled remembering the first time he brought you below the surface.
Poseidon sat on the seafloor as you frolicked with (fav. sea creature)s in the waves. Your laughter echoing for miles around. His trident sat beside him a firm grip on it, in case Amphitrite decided to do something. His icy blue eyes glanced to the side seeing something flash by.
Looking back to the god your (color) orbs noticed that the he was gripping his trident a bit too hard. Swimming to him you bravely placed a hand on his. Poseidon snapped his eyes back to you, his ears slightly turning pink at how close you were to him.
Sparkling orbs shined as you tugged on his hand wanting him to get up. Bubbles escaped his lips as he sighed in irritation. Standing up, he looked to you as his eyes widened. you pulled him into a slow dance, going with and against the currents.
Poseidon slightly smiled at the memory, not in an evil battle crazed way, but a soft kind of ethereal one. If you had seen him your foggy mind would register it as a dream.
Though he was brought out of his reverie by your stirring. Looking from the ceiling to you, he waited for you to wake up. Your stirring stilled as you went back to sleep. The god did not mind however he did mind when an old annoyance of his entered the room.
Amphitrite glared at Poseidon but then her eyes turned to you, curled up by her husbands side. Her fists tightened and her rage grew. However before she could open her mouth a hand was placed on her mouth and as she was escorted out. The gods oceanic eyes didn't leave your sleeping figure during the entire time.
"Forgive me my lord, next time she won't enter here again." a fish man bowed, in apology. "Hmph, make sure it doesn't happen again." was all the god said. The butler nodded as he backed out of the room, closing and locking the ornate doors. His eyes stayed on you as he watched you shift your position.
"Foolish human," he stated as he adjust himself so his body encased your own. Humming in your sleep, a small smile came to your lips. Poseidon tched as he placed a kiss on your head. Closing his eyes he fell asleep thinking of the dance you two shared under the waves.

Now, three years later she has a job , working as a live in house keeper for the Kim family, specifically for the son, Kim Namjoon, a famous rapper and producer.
Its a job that puts a roof over her head and she’ll do anything to keep it.
But fate has other plans.
Chapter 1 ~
Akogare (ah-koh-ga-reh)Often translated directly as a sort of frustrated “yearning”, “desire”, or “longing” .
Seoul in summer was a sight to behold. I blinked back against the bright sunlight, staring out into the stunning skyline of the city as the sun rose over it , and although it was just a little past seven in the morning, the air was warm and invigorating. The mid July sun shone down with no mercy, and there was no trace of the rain that had lashed city just the previous night.
It had been three whole years but the relief that came from breathing fresh air, untainted by the damp musk of fishing trowels and sweaty men, was still unrivalled.
I shook off the feather duster in my hand, moving to carefully clean the wicker woven chairs on the artificial lawn in the balcony. Dusting the entire condo down was a mind numbing exercise in patience, so i tried to get it out of the way, early in the morning when my son was still asleep.
At six years old, Junsu was a bright , happy child. Summer vacation meant days sleeping in and evenings spent frolicking with the other kids in the building and he was content with being alone in our small shared room, reading or playing with his toys while I went about the day’s work.
I glanced at the clock, grimacing.
It was almost eight . And although Mr. Kim wasn’t due back home for another twelve hours, I felt a little jittery and nervous.
Kim Namjoon , renowned rapper, producer, writer , poet and what not. The apartment was his but he was usually on tour, traveling all over the world to promote his book and to perform in sold out stadiums. For an A list celebrity, he was surprisingly humble.
For the past three years, him and his model fiancée Lee Mina had spent a total of maybe seven months in the condo. They were a sweet couple, or so I’d always thought , a bit formal with each other but clearly in love . Mr. Kim was a kind, soft spoken young man and I’d never heard him raise his voice unless he was in the company of his very dear friends.
Just a little over a week ago , both of them had left Korea for the States , the tabloids screaming about a luxurious destination wedding in the Caribbean and I had been asked to take a few weeks off . The newly weds wouldn’t be back for quite a while and they would let me know when I had to come back to the condo.
I’d been toying with the idea of visiting my in laws in Gwangyog, maybe even dropping by to see some old friends there but yesterday , Mr. Kim’s mother had given me a call letting me know her son was coming home.
[
The conversation went something like this :
Yang Mi, I hope you haven’t left yet?
No, Ma'am, I haven’t.
Joon-ah is going to be back tomorrow.
Oh, is Ms Lee arriving as well?
No, Just him He’s going to be alone.
Yes, Ma'am.
Please don’t mention anything about Mina or the wedding.
No ma'am of course not.
I’ll drop by later . Cook him something warm and filling. And make sure the house is cleaned well.
Yes, Ma’ am.
]
And that was that.
~~~~~~
It took the better part of the day to finish cleaning and setting up the house . I washed the window slats, changed the sheets, arranged the books that had been left scattered all over his bedroom. The walk-in closet was littered with a bunch of his clothes and I made sure his gym bag was stocked with fresh towels, spare clothes and his favorite head and wrist bands.
For someone so careful and calculated, he was really quite a messy man.
i did his laundry, making sure he had ample clothes at least for another two weeks, creasing the handkerchiefs and carefully removing lint from his jackets.
I also carefully sorted out the feminine clothing from the laundry and from the cupboard, folding them neatly and placing them in the lowest shelf of the closet, where he wouldn’t find them. It wasn’t hard, hiding traces of his fiancee from the condo, because it had never really been her home. other than a few spare pieces of underwear and a couple of t shirts and skirts, there weren’t many articles of clothing belonging to Ms. Lee.
But I still got rid of the bobby pins and hair ties, the spare lip gloss and mascara.
Junsu spent the entire day in our room, reading and drawing, only venturing out every few hours to grab a snack. I left him with his drawing tab ( a gift from Mr. Kim for his 5th birthday ) and his favorite book, asking the security guard at the end of the hallway to keep an eye on the door, while i went out to buy groceries.
Lots of meat, no sea food, healthy snacks and high protein fiber bars. I stocked up on sauces and bought a fresh batch of eggs, oranges and grapes . Mrs. Kim had sent a large amount of kimchi a few weeks ago and that was still in the pantry.
i stopped for a second, staring around at the almost deserted store. Most of the other housekeepers shopped at the bigger, more exclusive store on the other side of the residential complex. But Mr. Kim had a very selective palette, which meant that I had to be very particular about the brands i bought.
When i came back home at around six, Junsu was on the floor in the living space and i felt my heart jump in panic.
“Baby!! I’ve told you not to come out here when I’m not home!” I protested bleakly and he pouted.
“I need to show you my gift for Mr. Kim!!” He said softly. I smiled moving to put away the groceries and glancing at the clock. It was a little past six. I had to call Yungyu.
“Did you draw him something ? “ I asked curiously, checking to see if the beer shelf was stocked. probably should have done that before going out for the groceries, I thought regretfully.
“Yeah! Look!!” Junsu held his tab out and my heart dropped.
For a six year old, Junsu drew very well. And there was really no mistaking the very obvious wedding scene on the screen.
Oh, Good God.
“ That looks amazing honey.” I said gently. “ But, I heard that Ms Lee isn’t coming over this time..”
Junsu frowned.
“Why?”
“Well, I’m not sure. But remember how we spoke about saying the right things? When something upsets someone, we do not bring it up.” I reminded him gently. My son hesitated but nodded.
“Okay. I’m sorry. “ He said softly.
“No baby, its not your fault. It’s just that we want Mr. Kim to be happy right? We don’t wanna upset him...”
He smiled at that.
“When he’s happy, his dimples come out.” He said with a giggle. I laughed.
“yes they do... So let’s try and get those dimples out as often as we can alright? Why don’t you show him that picture you drew of yeontan the other day? He’ll really like that....”
“Okay...but i need to go color it!” Junsu yelled, already running back into our room. I watched him go before reaching for the phone and dialing, Yungyu, the chauffeur.
“Are you on the way here? ” i said briskly.
“Just starting from home...” Yungyu muttered, “ I’m supposed to be on vacation now! Why is he coming back so soon?”
“Just hurry up !! We can’t keep him waiting!!” I said sharply, before hanging up.
I made a quick check of all the rooms, filling up water bottles for his gym routine in the morning and stashing them in the fridge before moving to get dinner started.
i set the water on boil for the stew, before moving to peel cucumbers for the salad. I chopped the cucumber , along with some fresh cherry tomatoes . I watched the water boil, thinly slicing an onion and adding it to the bowl as well. The dressing was pretty simple, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey and sesame oil . I sprinkled some sesame seeds on the bowl, used the salad tongs to give the whole thing a nice toss and set it aside.
I braised the chicken first , peeling and chopping potatoes and carrots to add to the stew . In a few minutes, the rich smell of lightly spiced chicken and garlic and perilla leaves began filling the kitchen and I turned on the rice cooker as well.
The door bell rang at six forty and i opened the door to reveal Yungyu.
I grabbed the keys to the Palisade, handing them over to him.
“Did you hear?” He whispered urgently.
I frowned.
“What?”
“They say Mr. Kim called off the wedding!” He whispered, wide eyed.
I glared at him.
“Who told you that?” i demanded...
“Seojoon from the gate said-”
“Why don’t you ask Seojoon from the gate to mind his own damn business?” I snapped.
Yungyu looked suitably chastised. i felt a little bad. Yungyu was still young and curiosity was hardly a sin.
“His flight lands at eight exactly. Hurry okay?” I said with a smile, ruffling his hair.
He brightened, peering over my shoulder into the house.
“Where’s the little one?” He asked curiously.
“ Painting something for Mr. Kim... Go ahead, hurry up.” I shooed him away, locking the door behind him. I fixed a plate of food for Junsu and sent him to eat, before moving to check on the stew. +
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
By the time eight thirty rolled around I had the table set and ready. I washed my face quickly in the small bath attached to our room , making sure I was dressed well. Junsu wasn’t allowed in the main house unless Mr. Kim specifically asked for him and my son usually stayed in.
Junsu and I stayed in a bedroom , not large by any means but big enough for a queen sized bed, a table and chair for Junsu and small dresser where I kept a comb and a tube of night cream. I stared at my face, licking my lips as I smoothed my hair out.
I glanced at the bed.
Junsu was asleep , having dozed off while coloring his picture and I carefully extracted the tab from under his fingers, moving him around to lay on the soft pillows. I tucked him in gently, brushing the hair off his face.
“In peace , I will lie down to sleep, for You alone will let me rest in safety.” I whispered gently against his forehead, kissing the soft skin. I felt my lips wobble , a debilitating wave of affection flooding me as the sweet scent of my baby, filled my senses.
I would die for you, I thought fiercely, kissing him again.
The sound of the front door opening made me jump.
Swearing, i smoothed the fabric of my skirt, running to the kitchen.
“Thank you for picking me up Yungyu, I’m sorry you had to cut short on your vacation.” Mr. Kim’s deep voice filled the hallway and I quickly grabbed a glass, filling it with water and placing it on the dinner tray.
“Not a problem, Sir. “ Yungyu’s cheerful voice responded.
“How are you going home?” Mr. Kim asked.
“I’ll take the bus.”
A pause and then,
“Here’s some cash. Get a cab.”
I could hear the relief in Yungyu’s voice as he let out a , “ Thank you sir.”
I fixed his plate carefully, the bowl of rice, the bowl of chicken stew, and the salad neatly arranged next to the napkin and the chopsticks. I heard him move across the condo, the sound of his suitcases as he wrestled them towards his bedroom and I frowned. Yungyu should’ve have brought those in for him.
I finished reheating all of the food and carefully carried the dinner tray to the bedroom.
Mr. Kim’s bedroom was right at the end of the hallway and the door was open. The full length mirror on the opposite wall showed him sitting on the small couch in his room, legs spread and elbows resting on his knees as he ran his fingers through his hair.
I raised my hand, ready to knock on the wood.
“Fuck!” He shouted, kicking out at the coffee table with enough force to send the furniture skidding half way across the room.
I froze in the hallways stunned.
“You’re such a fucking fool , Namjoon !!” He muttered angrily and I swallowed, turning on my heel and quickly walking back to the kitchen.
Maybe I ought to wait till he asked for dinner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He didn’t ask for dinner.
I stayed sitting on the floor of the kitchen, waiting and lightly dozing as I heard him talk to his parents on the phone. I heard him open the liquor cabinet in his room, the sound of ice sloshing against glass, the sound of whiskey being poured carefully and i sighed.
I had to get to bed. It was already a little past eleven.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometime in the night, I woke up sweating....
Wondering what woke me up, I blinked groggily, glancing at Junsu. He was still sound asleep.
Sighing, I climbed out of the bed, carefully making my way to Mr. Kim’s room, peering in carefully.
He was asleep on the sofa.
I stared at the way his long legs stretched over the armrest, his lean hips twisted to accommodate his broad shoulders on the couch and I winced. He was definitely going to regret that in the morning.
I stared at the half empty bottle of whiskey on the table and sighed, moving to take off his shoes carefully. He didn’t stir.
I grabbed a pillow from the bed, carefully lifting his head and slipping it under. I placed a comforter over his shoulders, pulling it down to cover his legs.
Force of habit almost made me brush his hair off his forehead but I stopped myself.
The clock on the wall read three fifty am. God, I was going to feel terrible tomorrow. I carefully tip toed out, shutting the door behind me
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I picked the comforter from the floor, carefully folding it and placing it on the bed, before grabbing the empty bottle of whiskey and glass . i could hear the shower running. The curtains were still drawn in and I tugged on the strings to get them to open. Sunlight spilled in through the floor length windows. The bed wasn’t slept in, so I opened the closet to grab a couple of towels, laying them on the bed for him.
The bathroom door opened and i quickly straightened, wanting to race out of the room but it was too late. Thankfully he was dressed, a pair of loose sweats and a loose t shirt . He was running a towel through his hair and his face brightened at the sight of me.
“Yang Mi! You’re here....” He said cheerfully.
“Good morning sir.” I said softly, offering him a small smile.
He smiled brightly, hair damp and dimples deep. The white t shirt he had on was almost fully soaked through and he shook his head, sending stray water droplets all over the place, a few landing on my cheeks.
“I didn’t see you last night...” He said casually, moving to drop the wet towel in the hamper, grabbing one of the fresh ones I’d laid on the bed.
“I thought you would like your privacy sir, you looked exhausted.”
He smiled.
“ Thank you for the blanket and the pillow by the way. And the shoes.”
I bowed quickly.
“I’ll get your breakfast done, sir.” I bowed again before quickly getting out.
I moved to the kitchen grabbing the oranges I’d got the previous day . Mr. Kim wasn’t fond of traditional korean dishes in the morning. He preferred freshly squeezed juice and toast, sometimes with an omelet perhaps.
I fixed his breakfast quickly, setting it all in the tray . He was still moving around in the bedroom and I heard him drag his worktable to the windows, which meant he was going to stay in the bedroom.
Pouring his coffee into a cup, I carefully picked up the breakfast tray , moving to his room slowly.
I used my foot to knock on the door.
After a pause of a few seconds,
“Come in Yang Mi!”
I carefully moved to the small table in front of the couch, placing the tray right in front of him. The scent of his body wash, green apple and strawberries, hit me hard.
“Where’s Junsu?” He asked casually.
“Still asleep sir. It’s Summer so school’s out.” I smiled, grabbing his phone from the table to make space for his tray.
The phone buzzed just as I was about to place it back down and I blinked.
Mina calling.......
I swallowed, not sure what to do, placing the phone down quickly.
“Uh..you have ...” I waved vaguely at the device before bowing again and moving back.
“close the door on your way out, Yang Mi...” He said gently and I quickly obeyed.
I moved to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee for myself. I stayed leaning over the counter and even through the locked door, I could hear him .
“Just don’t call me Mina...i don’t want to talk about this!!!”
I swallowed, glancing out of the window again. It was a bright, clear morning.
A second later, the door to his bedroom slammed open and he stormed out. I watched him from my spot in the kitchen, his fists clenched as he rushed out to the front door.
The door shut behind him and I exhaled.
Once I as done with my coffee, I moved to his room to clear the breakfast tray. His phone was still on the table.
It began ringing again just as I left the room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Mrs. Kim.” i said respectfully, bowing . She gave me a short smile.
“Where’s Namjoon? I’ve been calling him for the past hour.” She pushed past me into the house and I bit my lips.
“He went out about an hour ago. He left his phone behind.” I explained.
She stopped, sighing.
“Fine, I’ll wait for him. “ She moved to sit on the couch, glancing around the room.
“Should I get you something ma'am?” I asked softly and she smiled.
“Get me a glass of lemonade, Yangmi.” She said brusquely and i nodded, running to the kitchen.
“Did Mina come over?” She called out as I got the lemons out of the cooler.
“No ma'am.” i replied.
“Did she call?”
I remembered the phone ringing, how upset it had made Namjoon, how he had stormed out.
“I don’t know ma'am!” I said softly.
She nodded.
“Okay. You can leave.” She said quietly. i bowed and went back into the kitchen.
I peered out of the window as I fixed her a glass , and my eyes fell on a familiar figure, coming back in through the front gate. Even from this distance there was no mistaking the long legs and messy blonde hair.
I bit my lips, mind racing.
Mrs Kim and her son had a volatile relationship, to say the least.
And something told me that Mr. Kim was probably not in the right frame of mind to argue with his mother, now. The man was upset but apparently, neither his mother nor his ex fiancée understood that. instead of giving him space they were hounding him.
I hesitated for a second before making a quick decision.
I grabbed the tray with her lemonade and moved to her quickly.
“Thank you.” She said sharply. “ Turn on the Air Conditioner for me, will you?”
I fumbled with the remote, grabbing his phone from the table , turning it on before moving to the front door and rushing out.
I almost ran into him as he came out of the elevator , and i jerked back stumbling a bit to stop myself from crashing into his chest. He let out a , ‘ Whoa, “ his hands reaching out to grip my elbows.
“Careful. What’s wrong?” He asked gently and I swallowed.
“Your mother’s here.” I said quickly, “ Sir.”
“Oh, fuck.” He groaned. I swallowed.
“You can leave.” I blurted out. “It’s Tuesday. She has her charity work meeting at ten. Its almost nine. She won’t stay long....”
His eyes met mine, lips parting in surprise.
“I really can’t meet her now.” He said apologetically.
I nodded.
“Of course, I understand , sir. Just be back in an hour , she’ll be go-”
The elevator buzzed , the doors nearly closing over my shoulders and I flinched. He swore and stuck his arm out to keep it open.
I stared at him before holding his phone out.
“Here you go sir. “
He chuckled taking it from me and shaking his head.
“i feel like a kid, sneaking away from my mom.” His eyes reached mine, twinkling, “ Who would’ve thought the quiet, timid Yang Mi would be my partner in crime. “
I didn’t reply, just smiled.
And then he hesitated. “ Is Junsu awake?”
I blinked.
“Uh...yes sir,...he’s playing in the park downstairs with the other kids.”
“Great... Would you mind if i take him out for ice cream?”
I stared at him.
“Oh..uh...of course not. Sure.. I mean.. he’ll love that... Sir. Thank you.. You don’t have to -”
“Consider it thank you for helping me with my mother.” He smiled again and i found myself staring at his dimples again. i swallowed.
“in that case, he loves butter scotch.” I smiled.
The dimples appeared and i bit my lips.
“Thank you Yang Mi.” He said slowly.
“Yes, Sir.”

Sea otters

Officially called Enhydra lutris, and unofficially known as the cutest creatures that float, the sea otters in today’s image can be found in Sitka Sound, Alaska, in the Unites States. Groups of either males or females (sometimes with pups), are appropriately named rafts. Male rafts tend to be larger and can number more than 1,000 individuals. Their buoyant bodies are like literal rafts, functioning as cradles, dinner tables or any kind of solid surface. That’s convenient because otters spend the vast majority of their lives in the water, even giving birth in the sea.
Although they seem to live carefree lives, frolicking and grooming and diving, they also serve an important role in keeping their aquatic ecosystems healthy. Otters keep the giant kelp forests of the Pacific Ocean healthy by eating sea urchins, which would otherwise decimate kelp, an important habitat for many fish and other sea creatures. Otters also eat crabs, shellfish, squid and other invertebrates. An otter’s caloric needs are huge. It must eat a quarter of its body weight each day to satisfy its cold-water metabolism.
The key to an otter’s aquatic lifestyle is its fur, the thickest of any mammal, so dense its skin never actually gets wet. Otters need all those hairs to stay warm as they don’t have a layer of blubber like other marine mammals. Although they can walk on land, they almost never find the need or desire to, even when it’s nap time. When they’re ready to sleep, they’ll wrap themselves in a strand of kelp to keep them from drifting away, and allow their buoyant bodies to keep them afloat.

A Completely Objective and Logical Ranking of Every Hetalia Character Song
New character songs are dropping, I have too much time on my hands, let’s go.
Also here’s a Youtube playlist for the ~✨nostalgia✨~
Bring it on in the tags
71. Ah Legendary Class⭐The Awesome Me Highway [Prussia]: Absolutely tearing it up on the drums and on the vocal cords alike (I pray for Atsushi Kousaka). Great for the memes.
70. Happy Thoughts Museum [???]: This is listed as an official song but I had literally never heard of the title. Then I listened to it and BAM! Smack back to 2013 watching the teasers for the show on Funimation. Not sure I’d count it as a character song though...
69. (Nice) My Song that is written by me for me [Prussia]: Deafened me but I can appreciate the industrial grind.
68. My House is...Quiet. ~With the Trolls~ [Norway]: I have never heard this song, nor can I find any version of it online. By default it goes here and I am so sorry Norge.
67. Make a Wish to Santa♪ [Sealand]: The discordant notes and childish exuberance only serve to make this sound like a demonic plea to Santa to eliminate the singer’s enemies.
66. Heaven and Hell on Earth [Rome]: Rome sounds like he’s been in the corner of a restroom. Extra points for the metal version, minus points for the fact that the beach scene was replayed like 1764 times.
65. Canada Complete Introduction [Canada]: Quiet af until Kumacheerio shows up and blows out your speakers. they did you dirty my darling 😔
64. It’s Easy!!! [America]: I don't think any video of this has ever stayed up for more than 20 seconds. Sounds cool, but like I was listening to 20 different genres at once, someone make him calm down.
63. Bù Zàiyì the Small Stuff ☆ [China]: I cannot for the life of me find the complete song anywhere, clips have a cool beat though
62. Let's Boil Hot Water♪ [Italy]: Exactly what it says on the tin..though a bit too close to elevator music for my tastes.
61. The Fragrance of Early Summer [Japan]: Very ‘from the books’ Japan-esque song
60. Peace Sounds Nice…[Baltic Trio]: All well and good until the radio demon shows up
59. W●D●C ~World Dancing~ [America]: How a song can sound like it’s from 4 different decades at once is beyond me
58. Overflowing Passion [BFT]: This is just drunken karaoke and I have 0 clue what’s going on #iconicforallthewrongreasons
57. Ren●Ren●Renaissance♪ [Rome+Chibitalia]: Wholesome Grandpa with Grandson content - barring the fact that Italy sounds on the verge of a nervous breakdown and Rome has had too much wine.
56. Roma Antiqua [Rome]: Similar energy to any one of China’s songs - there’s a part of the song where it sounds like he’s singing in the shower, and I will never not laugh at [CENSORED]
55. Country From Where the Sun Rises, Zipangu [Japan]: Very chill, very Japan, but just meh for me.
54. Moon Over Emei Shan [China]: Good message, okay song.
53. My Friend [England]: What a mind palace you must have Mr. Kirkland
52. With Love, from Iceland [Iceland]: Three words: Heavy. Metal. Puffin.
51. Having Friends is Nice...♫ [Russia]: Russia is the cutest thing ever
50. Mm. [Sweden]: Smooth transition from WWE Smackdown to shopping at IKEA.
49. Why don’t you come over? ~Beyond the Northern Lights~ [Iceland]: I don’t want to be mean but...this does sound like the second closing theme to an anime whose first closing was much more popular (à la Soul Eater)
48. Gakuen☆Festa [Germany, Italy, Japan]: Sounds like a 60s song of the summer but oh dear their voices do not go together. Hella cute though.
47. Wa! Wa!! World Ondo [Main Cast]: One time I travelled 10 hours in a coach bus with a bunch of teenagers to a city of note in my country, and the only souvenir I bought was the fucking PAINT IT WHITE DVD. Perfectly chaotic, UN ĐĕùX~~
46. In the Bluebell Woods [England]: In the album cover for this song he’s holding a guitar but this is not a rock song. Still has ‘running through the hills’ levels of dramatism though.
45. Poi Poi Poi♪ [Taiwan]: You’re telling me that Taiwan, someone whose has *ONE LINE* in Beautiful World (which is criminal tbh what kind of representation-) managed to get an eNTIRE CHARACTER SONG???????
44. White Flame [Russia]: There’s something to be said for a song that is 3x the length of any Hetalia episode
43. Ich liebe… [Germany]: Baking cakes for your friends has never been so wholesome.
42. We Wish you a Merry Christmas [America, China, England, France, Russia]: Nice to see they’ve gotten their shit together since United Nations Sta-hmm.
41. Ah, Worldwide à la mode [France]: Sounds like a Disney Princess song, hard not to picture France frolicking in a field of flowers.
40. Che Bello! ~My House is the Greatest!⭐~ [Italy]: Would not be out of place in an advertisement for Sea World.
39. May You Smile Today [Japan]: THE feel good song of the summer
38. Let’s Look Behind the Rainbow [Italy]: I will protect you.
37. I'm your HERO☆ [America]: “Anyone who’s sad or sullen will be arrested” did NOT age well.
36. Mein Gott! [Prussia]: Alternating headphone effect at the beginning is cool, so is the confidence...the actual singing on the other hand...
35. Nihao⭐China [China]: Listen, all of Chinas character songs are great, I just can’t vibe with this one like some of the others.
34. Pechka ~Light My Heart~ [Russia]: I’m still having difficulty wrapping my head around the fact that this and Winter were released at the same time.
33. Pukapuka⭐Vacation [Germany, Italy, Japan]: Seems just a bit too much like they’re running on a treadmill that’s picking up speed and trying to sing at the same time. Peppy.
32. Santa Claus is Coming to Town [Germany, Italy, Japan]: This is unironically the best song sung by this trio; can only vibe with for two months out of the year though.
31. Excuse Me, I Am Sorry [Japan]: Japan’s character traits speedrun. Gives me barbershop quartet vibes for some reason but is catchy as hell.
30. The Story of Snow and Dreams [Russia]: A superhero anime opening in the making
29. England’s Evil Demon Summoning Song [England]: Sir that is not how you roast a marshmallow, don’t cut yourself on that edge.
28. Moi Moi Sauna♪ [Finland]: Exactly the type of song you’d expect and it’s wonderful
27. United Nations Star⭐ [America, China, England, France, Russia]: This isn’t as much of a song as it is a four minute struggle for everyone to sing without America yelling every 5 seconds...Like a particularly musical episode of Hetalia.
26. Paris is Indeed Splendid [France]: Paris-pa-pa-pa-paris
25. Absolutely Invincible British Gentleman [England]: Poppy, rocky, polka-dotty
24. Vorwärts Marsch! [Germany]: To quote the comment section: “This sounds like a German version of I’ll Make a Man out of you.” There’s some truth to that.
23. Hamburger Street [America]: The product of America’s rapper phase. 8/10 because he’s trying so hard and because I can unironically sing along to all of this.
22. Hoi Sam☆Nice Guy [Hong Kong]: A song that would absolutely destroy the ankles of anyone in DDR.
21. I Am German-Made [Germany]: There was once a version that had Germany and Prussia singing at the same time and it sounded positively demonic and Broadway could never

18. Embrace the Très Bien Moi [France]: This is the definition of SELF LOVE PEOPLE.
17. Carrot and Stick [Belarus&Ukraine]: Absolutely DRIPPING in 2000s power ballad energy. The type of song that plays on repeat in the mind of the widow whose millionaire husband ‘mysteriously disappeared’ (and the only legit character song ever acknowledged by the anime)
16. C.B.C (Cowboyz Boot Camp) Vol. 1 [America]: AH MAH GAWWDDD
15. Winter [Russia]: Heavy metal fever dream and the perfect song for an angst-ridden teenager

10. Aiyaa Four Thousand Years [China]: A very poignant and beautiful song about the passage of time and the inevitability of its passing; comparable to an ancient ballad complete with explosive crescendos and meaningful lyrics.
9. Bon Bon Bon❤️C’est Bon C’est Bon! [France]: Peppy, cheerful, adorable, groundbreaking; has been my alarm tone for six years and I’ve yet to tire of it. 9/10 The moaning interspersed throughout has been an interesting wake-up call.
8. Let’s Enjoy! Let’s Get Excited! Cheers! [Denmark]: This is on par with Everytime we Touch by Cascada in terms of rage potential unlocked (the good kind)
7. Dream Journey [Japan]: Whoever’s playing the shakuhachi is absolutely KILLING IT. Dramatic, wonderful, great metaphors.
6. Gourmet’s Heart Beginner Level [China]: Absolute banger, I’m a vegetarian but this would inspire me to eat shumai.

4. Pub and GO! [England]: I love this trash man
3. Maji Kandou⭐Hong Kong Night [Hong Kong]: If you thought Denmark’s song was a banger JUST YOU WAIT. I WILL BLOW OUT MY SPEAKERS LISTENING TO LO-HA-SU.

I Can’t Control Myself (Anakin Skywalker x Reader)
Another great Anakin smut request! I’m currently working on the other one right now and plan to get it done tonight. I hit a road block with that one but this one came to me pretty quickly so I’m hoping that this will get my juices flowing for the other one!
Request from Anon: “Hi I just found your blog and it rocks darling 😘 Could you do a smut 5 with an akin skywalker please (I love my baby ani❤️) but also adding fluff 1 at the end please Thank you so much. P.s I understand if you cannot do it 💙💕”
“If I start, I won’t be able to control myself”
“Have you always been this beautiful?”
Summary: y/n, a princess and Anakin, her Jedi protector have been agonizing over each other for a long time now but what happens when one of them finally takes the first step? (This doesn’t cut right to the chase I’m sorry)
Warnings: Smut, light teasing, fluff

For about a month now Anakin had been my body guard. After rumors of a uncertain attack on me grew with the intentions to kill me so I could never rise to power as queen one day. At first hew had stayed in the background and watched from afar. But as I grew more comfortable with his presence I found myself asking little favors of him like helping me get stuff off the top shelf.
When everything really started was when I had a meeting with neighboring planets and I asked him what dress I should wear and he replied with.
“I prefer the blue one, but in my opinion you will be equally as beautiful in either your majesty,”
After that day I fell hard and fast for the young and handsome Jedi. If only there wasn’t that stupid code.
Today was a peaceful day, I woke up and wrapped myself in my morning robe and quietly walked to he terrace outside my room to find Anakin standing on the balcony meditating like he always does. I tiptoed my way to the garden patio to have my breakfast as I always do. I’ve lived in this palace my whole life and I can’t think of a day where I didn’t have breakfast in the rose garden. As the maids brought me my breakfast I felt another familiar presence approaching.
“Good morning your Majesty,” said Anakin
“Good Morning to you as well Master Skywalker, I hope I didn’t disturb you while you were meditating.” I said taking a bite of my pastry.
“Quite the opposite, your presence helps me focus,” he said with a smile “Though I felt a disturbance this morning.”
“Oh, is everything alright?” I asked.
“Don’t worry princess no harm will come to you,” he said sitting down next to me while the maids also brought out his breakfast.
“I’m not worried as long as you’re here,” I said with a smile.
----------
The day was simply too beautiful not to be outside. I grabbed my scissors and went into my beloved rose garden to cut roses to bring into my room while Anakin watched me from the terrace. The whole garden was somewhat of a maze, with rows and rows of different colored roses as I disappeared from Anakins sight to pick the pink roses I suddenly felt as though someone was watching me. I turned around to see a man in a mask who made a cold chill of fear run down my body. Before I could even scream for him Anakin jumped out from behind me ignighting his lightsaber before I knew it the masked man lie on the ground lifeless.
Panic began to set in me as I realized what might’ve happened.
“Your majesty are you alright?” said Anakin turning towards me. My breathing became shallow and I slowly started to sink to the ground. My knees would’ve hit the damp grass if it weren’t for Anakin pulling me into his arms. “Shh it’s alright now you’re safe.” he said pulling me into his chest attempting to calm me down.
--------------
After the incident Anakin and my father decided that it was no longer safe for me at the palace and so my handmaidens packed my bags and we took a discrete transport out to the beach house where my family used to vacation.
As soon as I finished unpacking a grabbed a basket of fruits and bread as well as a blanket and made my way over to Anakin’s room where we was also unpacking.
“I was wondering if you’d like to have lunch on the beach with me?” I asked.
“I’d love that,” he beamed.
We made our way out to the beach and set up for lunch. I cut up some apples and pears and set them on a plate but before I could even think about digging in a gust of wind blew sand onto the blanket and onto the fruit.
“No!” I said in frustration causing Anakin to laugh. “don’t laugh at me!” I said smacking his arm.
“Don’t worry your majesty, I was only thinking about how I was just about to tell you how much I hated sand,” he said with a smile on his face.
“You know you don’t have to call me your majesty right?”
“Yes Princess,” he said cheekily.
“No!,” I smiled “y/n, call me y/n.”
“alright, y/n” he said.
The rest if that day was spent eating lunch and frolicking on the beach Anakin was even able to take a pink seashell he found and make a necklace for me.
That night after we had gone to bed I snuck out in my pajamas to the balcony that overlooked the sea. The air was cold and it caused the hair on my skin to rise, but I didn’t mind. Out here I could breathe, and think. I sat on the floor and leaned against the mansion of a beach house as I looked out over the moon reflecting over the tranquil crashing waves. I thought about what transpired in the garden that day. The feeling I got when the masked man stood behind me. never in my life had I truly thought about death and dying and what came next and all of the sudden that all seemed so real the second I saw him. I had never been so scared in my entire life.
“You scared me half to death, I couldn’t sense you sleeping and I thought something had happened.” said Anakin from behind me wearing nothing but a pair of pants and his Jedi robes over his bare chest.
“I’m sorry Ani I guess I just needed some air,” I said.
“You shouldn’t be out here all alone it’s dangerous,” he said.
“Well then have a seat,” I said patting the spot next to me. “See it’s not dangerous anymore.”
“you’re freezing,” he stated taking his robe off and draping it around my shoulders.
“Ani I’m fine really,” I said trying to give it back.
“Nope my job is to protect you from everything from bounty hunters to the flu,” he said making me smile.
There was a short silence as we sat there looking at the ocean before us.
“Ani, have you ever been afraid of dying,” I asked out of the blue.
“Only once, when I was little I used to go pod racing and one time my pod went out of control and I thought I was going to crash.” he said “Why? Are you still shook up from today?”
“I suppose so,” I sighed “I just can’t shake the feeling I got when I turned around and saw him standing there.”
“You know you don’t have to worry anymore right? I’ll never let anything happen to you.” he said.
“I know,” I sighed putting my head on his shoulder.
We sat there in silence for the rest of the night until I finally fell asleep on his shoulder. The lat thing I remember was Anakin carrying me back to bed, covering me up and pressing a kiss to my forehead.
----------
The next afternoon we went up to the prairie for lunch where the wild tauntauns lived. The whole prairie overlooked the sea and thousands of wildflowers grew in beautiful vibrant colors that contrasted the ripe green of the grass.
“This is much better than that sandy beach,” said Anakin
“I think there is beauty in the sand that is often ignored for the the beauty of the ocean. When you think about it sand is incredibly useful, we use it to make glass and in it we find beautiful shells we can turn into beautiful jewelry.” I smiled holding onto the necklace Anakin had made for me the day before causing him to smile.
“So you could say that you and the sand have very little in common,” He started “Your beauty cannot be ignored, it is something unbelievable. It not only pleases my eyes but warms my heart.”
I smiled at him and looked down to hide my flushed cheeks.
After lunch Anakin tried to convince me that he could ride one of the wild tauntauns but I told him it was impossible which he took as a challenge. The next thing I knew he was on top of a raging tauntaun holding on for dear life. I laughed as his face became more and more worried. The wild creature eventually bucked him off and I laughed until it stepped on him. I looked closer and he was trying to get up but couldn’t.
“Ani!” I cried fearing the worst.
When I got there I dropped to my knees and tried to roll him over. When I did he was laughing. I smacked him in the chest and he grabbed my arms pulling me down to him and rolling down the hill.
---------
That night after Anakin went to bed I snuck out again and went down to the beach. I walked until my feet were submerged in the water. In the moment the sea was calling to me. I untied my robe and let it fall into the shallow water. The cold breeze hit my bare body. I waded further into the water till it almost covered my shoulders. I stood where I could still touch the sandy sea floor and I let the water wrap around my naked form. For once I felt completely free. I heard splashing behind me and I saw Anakin swimming out towards me, my heart stopped as I realized he would notice I’m completely naked under the dark water. I frantically looked for my robes on the shore only to find a similar pile next to mine.
“If Master Obi Wan knew I was swimming around like this he would kill me!” Shouted Anakin from a couple yards away causing me to giggle.
We both floated around ignoring the tension between the two of us until I stepped off a drop off and gravity pulled me to the bottom of the four foot drop. Almost instantly I was pulled up by my arm and into Anakin’s strong arms.
“I gotcha, I gotcha,” he said reassuringly as I coughed up a little water.
We sat there for a second, the tension was greater than it had ever been in this past month. Without thinking I put my hand on his cheek and pushed a piece of wet hair away from his face. I looked down at his lips and started to move in but he stoped me.
“If I start, I won’t be able to control myself,” he said.
“I don’t want you to,”
With that his lips slammed onto mine and my arms wrapped around his neck. His hands wandered up my waist pulling me closer to him. The kiss was hot and needy. Tension from many weeks finally being cut. He brought his hand around my thigh and pulled it so I would wrap my legs around his waist and he began to walk towards the shore. We never broke the kiss even as he walked past our forgotten clothes, up the stairs and into his bedroom.
He gently laid me on the bed and began kissing my neck.
“Oh Ani,” I moaned out.
“You’re so beautiful,” he said in between sloppy kisses moving his way down my body till he got to my heat. He peppered kisses along my inner thighs before licking a strip all the way up my sex causing me to scream out in pleasure and tug his hair.
He began eating me out vigorously, absolutely ravishing me. He sucked on my clit as his arms hooked under my thighs to burry his head even deeper. I felt my self getting closer and closer as his tongue began lapping at my clit at a relentless speed. I felt my orgasm build up and within a matter of minutes I was a moaning mess for I had felt pleasure I had never felt before.
“I’ve been waiting a lifetime to hear those sounds leave your mouth,” he said making his way back up to me. I could feel his hard dick rutting against my thigh. “are you ready?” he asked. I nodded.
With that simple gesture he began to push his rock hard cock into me causing me to scream out in both pleasure and pain. I grabbed his neck and pulled him down to kiss me again, a kiss full of heat of the moment passion and with that he bottomed out in me causing us both the moan into the kiss.
Breaking apart he gave me a minute to adjust before he started a slow pace.
“You’re so warm and wet,” he said building up speed it wasn’t long before he was pounding into me making me scream in pleasure. I ran my hands down his back leaving scratch marks making him let out a strangled moan.
“You feel.. so good,” he cried.
“I’m so close Ani,” I said.
“Me too,” he breathed out “On three...one”
“Fuck Ani!” I screamed getting closer.
“two...THREE!” he screamed as he bottomed out in me burying his seed deep inside me setting off my second orgasm of the night.
He sat on his elbow above me and looked down at me like I was the world.
“I love you,” He said out of breath.
“I love you to Ani,” I beamed and he went in to give me another kiss.
He finally rolled over and pulled me into his chest. I looked up at him with stars in my eyes.
“Have you always been this beautiful?” he asked innocently.
“You’re too good to be true Anakin Skywalker.” I smiled.
There was again a silence as he started to fall asleep before I finally asked him.
“Ani what about the Jedi code?”
“Let’s not talk about that now. You’re finally all mine. I wanna enjoy the moment you’re finally in my arms.” he said pulling me closer.
I agreed with him. Troubles can be left for tomorrow. Right now I finally had everything I ever wanted.
AN: guys I’m sorry that it didn’t cut right to the chase I just wanted the tension to build and got carried away.

Seasons of the Welkin Isles
Summary taken from the notes of Laeralis, scholar of Flock Stormtalon. For more information, see Songs on the Wind: The Legends and History of Dragon Clan Rivensong.
Summer
The solstice marks the longest day of the year, and the half way point of year. Summer is the height of raiding season for clan Rivensong. Supply rooms are refilled, the lands are tended, and the coiffers swell. Traders and visitors from other clans and outside the flight pass through, whether they be dragons seeking exaltation, merchants looking to make a profit, or mercenaries looking for seasonal employment on the ships. During this time the population on the island nearly triples, although many of the dragons do not stay permanently.
Summer is the second longest season on the isles. Winds from warmer lands support the clan’s thriving farm lands. Fishing, hunting, and foraging takes up many of the long hours of the day, and hatchlings can be seen frolicking all through clan land. The solstice is celebrated by a long day of fishing and swimming, with bonfires and fireworks on the beach that night.
Autumn
The fall starts when the first of the colder seasonal winds start to sweep up from the south, starting to turn summer into winter. The harvest season coincides with the return of raiding parties who traveled to more distant lands, particularly up along Arcane or Lightning territory. Preparation for the winter involves renovations and repairs to buildings and putting the finishing touches on storage. Visitors and temporary hires tend to start to make their way home during this time, before water ships get blocked in by the sea ice.
A short but incredibly vibrant season, the autumn is marked by days of working hard on repairs and chilly nights spent by campfires. The final harvest is a clan-wide effort, celebrated by a hearty meal of stew and bread in the fields, ending with a night of cool ciders and sweets shared in the clan’s great hall.
Winter
Winter is the longest season in the south. It starts off rather mild, and the early winter is marked by preparing the ships- for both water and air- for storage until the spring. Winter truly starts with the first snow of the season, which marks the day most of the clan hunkers down in their winter homes. While typically the weather allows the dragons of the clan a chance to live in their own lairs, in particularly bad stretches it’s not uncommon for the entire clan to gather in the great hall for days at a time. Ice prevents any travel in or out of the island during this season, and the population dwindles to only the year-around residents.
Winter is the season of spirits and mystery, and the solstice is celebrated as much. The start of the new year is preceded by two weeks of sharing small mystery gifts and playing harmless pranks. The solstice itself is celebrated by a long night of singing, dancing, and eating- particularly baked goods, hot drinks, and alcohol- that lasts from sunset to sunrise.
Spring
A short season, spring starts with the thawing of the sea ice in the harbors and preparing the ships for the raiding season. Fields are replanted, flowers begin to bloom, and raiding routes are chosen. The ships leaving the longest leave the earliest, and typically won’t return until the summer or even the fall. Spring in the Welkin Isles is associated with lean times, especially in years when the winter lasts long, the pantries empty, and the fields take longer to thaw. The first of the seasonal travelers slowly begin to arrive ahead of the summer rush, typically bringing supplies with them in preparation for the Jamboree.
Despite being a short season, practically the entirety of it is dedicated to the Mistral Jamboree. The dedicated festival of the Windsinger is planned for a year in advance, and the preparations themselves are a kind of celebration. A month is dedicated to trading, games, feasting, and other celebrations, with the final week being the Jamboree itself. All work is finished beforehand, as the last week of the season all dragons are expected to celebrate to their fullest. The celebration itself is worthy of its own description and notes.

You enjoyed playing with the foamy bubbles in the large bath that Miyoung had prepared for you, even letting her wash and brush your hair for you. You suspected it must have been odd for her, but you had absolutely no interest in covering up your body from anyone’s eyes—though you did wonder about the new anatomy of your body.
Especially the thing between your two legs. When you thought of how much you missed Hoseok, it felt strange. You didn’t know if that was normal. And you hated yourself for how it felt the same way when you thought of Jungkook, too. You guessed it must be normal, but you also supposed that it would be too weird to ask one of the humans about it, so you resolved to figure it out yourself later.
For now, you frolicked about in your new room, a clean and lengthy dress fitted around your frame. You cocked your head at yourself in the long mirror, proud at yourself for being able to remain steady on your feet now.
There was a knock on the door of your room. You cleared your throat, a slight tickle in the back of it; you must be catching something from your unfamiliar surroundings. You turned toward the door, letting a smile form on your lips.
“Come in,” you called softly.
The door opened and Miyoung peeked her head slightly into the room, returning your smile. “It’s time to eat, my dear,” she said. You couldn’t help letting your smile grow, your stomach grumbling quietly. “I’ll escort you down to the dining hall.”
“Will Jungkook be joining me?” you asked curiously, slipping some of the shoes she’d given you earlier onto your feet. You curled your toes a bit, unused to the strange feelings. She’d given you flat shoes, as the two of you had discovered that your already precarious center of balance was made worse when you wore the same heeled shoes that other ladies you’d seen wore.
“You will be joining Prince Jungkook, yes,” she replied, a slightly chiding tone in her voice. You pretended to be embarrassed, fluttering your lashes innocently. So the rules up on land about titles and such remained the same as they did in Atlantica. You would file that away for later. “I am certain he is already seated and waiting for you.”
The two of you made your way down the hall and the wide staircase, Miyoung and yourself smiling widely at the lack of need for help. You still had to walk slowly down them for fear of falling onto your face, but now you didn’t need to grip anyone to walk along. As you neared the dining hall, you could hear many voices and laughter, along with faint clanging.
Miyoung gestured for you to go in and take a seat at the large table. You immediately spotted Jungkook among the many other people, his hand gripping a silver-colored tool that you’d seen before on your adventures into shipwrecks. He used the tool to put food into his mouth slowly, his eyes darting between the two people talking to him. He was seated at the head of the table and you spotted an empty seat beside him.
Many other humans were seated at the table, having their own conversations that you didn’t care to listen to. Seizing your chance, you walked swiftly over to Jungkook’s side and took the seat open next to him, not at the head of the table but right at the edge of the side. His gaze snapped over to you and he took in your much less disshelved appearance with an appreciative look.
Jungkook seemed to cut off the conversation he’d been in before, turning to face you completely. A servant placed a covered plate in front of you, lifting the top to reveal delicious smelling food underneath—you took in the scent, unused to it.
“Are you feeling better?” he asked you quietly.
You smiled and tried not to make it noticeable when you copied the way he held the tool in his hand, eyes darting around briefly before settling on his face.
“Yes, thank you,” you said. You batted your lashes at him. “I don’t know what would have become of me without your help, my prince.”
“Please,” he replied smoothly. “Make no mention of it. How could I leave a beautiful maiden like yourself all alone?”
You gripped the metal in your hand a little tighter, inclining your head as respectfully as you could. “You flatter me.”
There was a lull in conversation as Jungkook leaned back in his chair, eyes slowly drifting away from you as other people attempted to get his attention. You took the opportunity to sneak a glance at the people beside you to see how they used the sharper object to cut into the meat. You copied their motions, a little sloppier than them, and shoveled the hot food into your mouth. You tried not to show how affected you were, slowly eating whatever it was they had cooked.
After most of the people had finished and more food had been brought out—these having a particularly sweet taste that made you drool a bit—the conversations had lulled a bit. A butler had come to stand slightly behind Jungkook’s chair and glanced at you before leaning down a bit.
“Your Highness,” the old man said, a small smile on his face as Jungkook looked up at him questioningly. “Might I suggest a tour of the town for our lovely guest?”
Jungkook’s eyes widened a bit and he turned to look at you. “Would that interest you?”
You nodded excitedly. “Yes, I would love to see everything in town. If it’s not a bother to you, of course—!”
He shook his head to stop you. “No, no, it would be my pleasure. Then, let us go tomorrow. It will be getting dark soon, and I would hate to rush you.”
You had to hold back the grumble. Another day to wait. “Of course,” you said pleasantly.
Jungkook stood from his seat and the others quickly got to their feet as well. You copied them, a little belatedly, but commended yourself on being able to stand on your feet without falling over. “If you’ll excuse me,” Jungkook told the guests clearly. “I’ll be retiring for the evening.”
Everyone bowed briefly and you did as well, looking up to watch him walk away from the table and out of the hall. He disappeared around the corner and everyone started their conversations back up. You couldn’t help but notice the new ease with which they held themselves, no longer putting on a show for royalty.
You slowly moved away from the table and walked out as well, looking around the castle as you made your way slowly to your room. Letting your fingertips graze the wooden tables and glass trinkets atop them, you sighed and took in the new sensations. Thoughts of Hoseok flitted to your mind and you sighed even deeper, wishing you had some way to send word that you were okay and working on getting back. You knew everyone must be worried for your safety.
If only you hadn’t gone out to the ships.
Somehow, you found yourself walking out into a courtyard of some kind. You peeked out and saw nobody around in the setting sky and empty yard. The grass was slightly damp. You walked out farther and found yourself at a shoreline, the vast ocean glittering back at you.
You slipped your shoes off and lifted the hem of your dress so that you could dip your feet into the cold water. You let your eyes flutter shut—you had missed the feel of the water on your skin. Your head tilted back slightly as you breathed in the fresh air, letting the water rolling over your feet soothe you. You could almost trick yourself into thinking you were a mermaid again, just taking in the surface air briefly before dipping back down into the depths of the ocean.
A frenzied bark and familiar voice startled you out of your imagination and you had barely managed to turn to face the source of the sounds before something hard barreled into you, knocking you down into the water. You let out a soft sound and caught yourself on your elbows, face buried in fabric and a heavy weight settling on top of you.
You blinked up at Jungkook, whose coat had been shed at some point, leaving him only in a loose white shirt that exposed more of his chest than you’d seen before.
He hurried to get off of you, but his little dog—you’d been reading a few of the books that you had found earlier after your bath to familiarize with the terms humans used— jumped around him, splashing the two of you with water. You couldn’t help but giggle as he tried to chastise the small creature.
Jungkook shifted slightly and you were suddenly very aware of the position the two of you were currently in. You looked up at him, startled, when you felt his thigh brush the skin of your own, the hem of your now drenched dress climbing higher than humans considered proper.
He didn’t seem to notice, still trying to get his pet to stop excitedly jumping on him so that he could move. Your cheeks felt warm and you bit the inside of your cheek, the thing between your legs throbbing. It was a very strange feeling. You found yourself hoping that he would move his thigh higher, closer to that place that was tingling.
“I’m sorry—” Jungkook started, a laugh in his voice, but he trailed off abruptly as he faced you, his nose nearly brushing yours. Your lips parted and you blinked up at him slowly, almost feeling an electricity charging between you. His dark eyes were wide as he stared down at you, his palms holding himself up on either side of your body, effectively keeping you trapped underneath him.
His eyes darted down to your lips and the sea witch’s cackling voice echoed in your head. You let your tongue peek out to wet your lips, enjoying the way his Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed. He kept his eyes on your ready lips and you started to lean up slowly, not wanting to startle him.
Kiss me, you urged silently. Please kiss me.
Jungkook shifted forward barely a centimeter, eyes half-lidded. You were afraid of even breathing wrong. You felt the barest brush of his lips against yours before he jerked back, falling back into the water in front of you. You waited for a few seconds before moving, but there was nothing.
You clucked your tongue quietly and tried to school your features into embarrassment when you looked at Jungkook. Lowering your legs into the water, you pushed yourself up so that you were in a seated position, staring at him and waiting for him to make a move.
He sputtered, cheeks pink, and hurried to his feet, splashing the water around him. Holding out a hand to you, he cleared his throat. You sighed and took his hand, letting him pull you up to your feet. “Sorry,” he repeated, voice much softer now. You strained to smile at him, trying not to let your frustrations get the better of you. Maybe the kiss had been too brief to be considered the type of kiss that would break the sea witch's curse.
“No, I'm sorry, Prince Jungkook,” you said, noticing that he kept his soft grip on your hand between the two of you. “I should have moved out of the way.”
He shook his head, droplets of water slipping from his red tipped hair onto his skin and traveling down in a way that was too tantalizing to ignore. You allowed your eyes to follow the drops of water as they trailed down his face to his neck and chest. You snapped your eyes back up to his face, embarrassed.
“Please, you're being too kind,” he told you gently. “I should have been watching where I was going.” Your strained smile softened into a real one and you shifted a bit, the fabric of your dress clinging to your skin uncomfortably. “What were you doing out here?”
Your mouth opened and closed, unsure of what to say to him. You couldn't exactly say you were homesick and that you were trying to feel closer to home under the sea.
“I like the water,” you told him hesitantly. “My home, it's... Like this place. Surrounded by the ocean. Even though the waves took down my ship, I still love the ocean.”
Jungkook's eyes were almost sparkling as he listened to you. “I see,” he said thoughtfully. “I love the water, too. There's just something very freeing about being in the open sea.” You nodded your head and then a silence engulfed the two of you. As if realizing that the two of you were just staring at one another, Jungkook cleared his throat and released your hand, stepping away from you to put room between the two of you. “Well, I'll let you get back. It wouldn't do to have you catch a cold.”
You smiled and nodded your head. You were feeling a little odd, especially your throat. “Thank you. Goodnight, Prince Jungkook.”
“Goodnight,” he returned softly. “I'll see you tomorrow.”
You turned away from him and started to get out of the water. Slipping your shoes back on, you allowed yourself to look over your shoulder to see him playing with Gureum in the shallow water. Hurrying inside, you winced as you dripped water everywhere and just hoped nobody would see you trudging along to your room.
Once you made it safely inside, you stripped your wet dress off along with the undergarments that Miyoung had dressed you in and threw them over the chair at the desk. You kicked your shoes off, too, and then dropped yourself onto the bed. You didn't bother wearing anything, even though you knew Miyoung had put some nightgowns in the dressers when she realized you had nothing with you.
The sheets felt nice and cool against your bare skin and you stretched out your body before slipping underneath the covers. Everything in the human world was so comfortable, you couldn't help but enjoy yourself even though you wished for nothing but to get back home.
There was a throb between your legs when you remembered how close you had been to going back home just now. You let yourself picture Jungkook's lips—even as your heart twinged—and guilt flooded your body. You squeezed your thighs shut when your imaginary Jungkook pressed his lips harshly against yours and pushed you down into the shallow water. His lips were hungry and soft on your mouth.
Squeezing felt good. With a start, you realized that one of your hands had found its way down between your thighs and you hesitantly pressed against it. You were surprised to find it slick and sticky, clearly not from the water you'd been sitting in.
With quickening breaths, you pictured that it was Jungkook's strong thigh pressing against you there instead of your fingers. You were almost panting now, the image in your mind vivid. His hands cupped your breasts and his thigh rubbed against that spot the way your palm was, pleasure shooting into your abdomen.
Jungkook's tongue licked your lips and then slipped into your mouth and one more rub had you feeling an ecstasy that you'd never felt before. Your mouth opened and a quiet moan slipped out, though your voice cracked. Your hips rocked up into your hand, chasing the feeling, and when it was over you found yourself sweaty and panting heavily.
You turned over to grab some of the tissues—at least, that's what you thought they were called—on the small piece of furniture beside the bed. You cleaned off the sticky stuff from your hand and then wiped yourself clean between your legs, surprised at whatever that wet stuff was. Did all humans feel that good with the thing down there? You threw the tissues away and then curled up under the covers, letting your heavy eyelids flutter shut and the sound of the waves outside lull you to sleep.
You woke up feeling refreshed and excited, even though your throat was tight and itchy. No amount of clearing it or coughing could get rid of the hoarseness of your voice, but you supposed it was some effect of being on land.
Once you had readied yourself, stepping into your flat shoes again, you rushed to the door and nearly ripped it open. You were going to get that kiss today. You were determined. After all, how hard could it be to enchant a human prince? He already seemed to be a bit taken with you, if the previous night had been any indication.
You nearly bumped right into said prince’s chest right outside of your doorway. You looked up with wide eyes, lips parting in surprise as Jungkook’s hands steadied you gently.
“Prince Jungkook!” you exclaimed, voice scratchy. You winced, a hand lifting up to lightly tough your throat.
Jungkook’s brows furrowed. “Ah, good morning. How did you sleep?”
“I slept fine, thank you,” you replied, trying not to grimace this time at how your voice sounded. It was almost like it was gone. “And yourself?”
“Yes, I did as well,” he told you distractedly. “Are you feeling alright? You sound a bit under the weather.”
“Oh, yes, I’m fine!” you said. “I’m sure my voice will be back to normal by the end of the day.”
He nodded, though he didn’t seem to believe you completely. “It must be from the water last night.” Jungkook’s cheeks tinged pink and he cleared his throat, stepping a little bit away from you. You tried not to pout. “I do apologize for what happened.”
You waved him off. “It’s fine, please. Will we be going on our tour today?”
Jungkook smiled at you and then offered you his arm. You gladly took it, sidling up close to his side as he escorted you down the hall toward the stairs. “Yes, we’ll go after breakfast, if that’s fine with you.”
You silently appreciated his slow pace as the two of you descended the steps. “That sounds lovely. I almost couldn’t sleep from how excited I was to see the town.” A little lie wouldn’t hurt.
After a quick breakfast with a few other people—you still had no idea who they were, but since they seemed fancily dressed like Jungkook was, you assumed they were of similarly important status as him—the two of you made your way outside of the castle and into a carriage. You were surprised that Jungkook hadn’t brought his pet along with him, but you couldn’t say you were disappointed about it.
You were a bit surprised, however, when Jungkook waved away the man who was going to come with the two of you and opted to navigate himself. He took the straps of the creatures that pulled the carriage and snapped them gently, the two animals beginning a slow walk. You spent the first few moments of the ride gripping the cushions underneath you until you got used to it and relaxed.
Jungkook had relaxed as well, shedding his jacket and remaining in only a loose white shirt tucked into his pants. You allowed your eyes to take in his form discreetly, appreciating his looks.
Once the two of you were in a much more populated area, Jungkook stopped the carriage and hopped out of it, offering you his hand and helping you out as well. Curiously, he held your hand for a few beats longer than what was proper and you gave him a look, letting a small smirk find its way to your lips.
He dropped your hand as if it had started to burn him and then pointed toward one of the stands. You wanted to chuckle at his embarrassment, but said nothing of it as you followed him.
Jungkook bought a delicious smelling food from the stand and handed you one with a tissue of some kind—it was rougher than the ones on the stand by your bed. You cocked your head and tried to discreetly observe him as he ate and wiped his mouth and hands with the tissue. You copied his movements, but one bite of the sweet food had you nearly ravenous.
For all their poorer qualities, one thing humans had mastered was the art of food.
You would never be able to have something like this once you were back home. You ate up everything that Jungkook bought for you, using his coins to trade. He seemed to find how you reacted to the different food amusing.
You spotted a man strumming an instrument and you perked up, eyes widening. His music was beautiful. Jungkook stood beside you, listening along with you and smiling softly. The idea came to you unbidden, prompting you to grab his hand and tug him toward the musician.
“What are you doing?” Jungkook asked you quickly, trying to stop you.
He was no match for your determination. You turned to face him and held his hands in yours. “Dance with me!” you said, ignoring how softly your voice came out—you could barely hear it.
With a sigh, Jungkook relented and helped you move along with him to the upbeat strum of strings. Seeing the two of you smiling and twirling around, the musician changed his song to a much slower one, clearly meant for lovers. You internally thanked the human man as Jungkook pulled you in close, one of his hands falling to rest on your hip. His other hand shifted yours to rest in his gently and you placed your free hand on his shoulder.
“How are you enjoying our little town, so far?” the human prince asked you.
“It’s quite the beauty,” you replied softly, wishing your voice would come back. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”
At your words, Jungkook tilted his head to the side curiously. “You’re so strange. I wonder what it’s like where you come from.”
You didn’t reply, smiling nervously at him instead. He swayed the both of you along for a few more moments of silence, the sounds of the market and music filling your ears. You listened to the indistinguishable voices of the humans around you, but you kept your eyes on Jungkook’s. He was staring at you oddly, unlike he had before. It reminded you of the way he looked at you when he was on top of you in the water, lips almost touching yours.
You clenched your thighs, tingling all over.
The song came to a beautiful end and the two of you slowed to a stop, moving away from one another only at the small applause of the few people that had stopped to watch you and listen to the music. Jungkook released you completely with a sheepish smile and walked over to the musician, dropping a few of his pretty coins into the hat beside the man.
“Let’s get going, shall we?” Jungkook said when he returned to you, offering you his arm.
You gladly took it, nodding your head. He showed you a few more places in the market, mostly shops with clothes and other things, like things called books. You had asked a multitude of questions, not caring how strange or suspicious they might sound; those things and water did not mix well, so there were no such things in Atlantica. You wanted to learn all you could, even as you tried to get home.
Eventually, Jungkook led you to a small boat in a lagoon. You perked up with happiness, missing the water immensely. He paid the man with the boats, ignoring the color flushing on Jungkook’s cheeks and neck when the man called you ‘lovers.’
You climbed into the boat before Jungkook, and he settled on the opposite side of you, taking the wooden things on either side and pushing them in circular movements to glide you farther into the water. You looked around at the beautiful scenery, taking it all in.
“Do you often come here?” you asked as loudly as you could with your broken voice, the sounds of the water calming and familiar.
Jungkook slowed his movements as the two of you neared more beautiful areas, letting the boat glide along the water’s surface naturally. “Not to this lagoon, but I love the ocean.”
You perked up. “You do?”
He nodded, meeting your eyes. “I do. I love the freedom of being at sea. Never knowing what you’ll encounter and facing your fears. Being in the ocean lets me forget my worries and just be me, for a time.”
“Wow,” you breathed. “That’s a very beautiful thought.” You paused, remembering the sea witch dragging him through the depths. “But aren’t you afraid of the danger of it?”
Jungkook hummed, letting the silence settle for a few moments. The boat floated along by colorful and beautiful flowers, lilypads, and trees with vines dipping into the water. It was almost the perfect view, illuminating the human prince in an ethereal way, as if he was more than human.
“I suppose,” he finally answered. “I actually had quite the misfortune strike me a few days ago. Our ship caught aflame and we had to abandon it—we had been fishing for something in particular.” His eye had a strange glint, but he didn’t go into detail about what it was they were looking for. “I nearly drowned.”
You swallowed, suddenly nervous as he peered into your face. For a moment, you could almost swear he would recognize you. “What happened?” you asked quietly, unable to help yourself.
“Someone saved me,” Jungkook said wistfully, though his eyes narrowed at you. “Whoever she was, I owe her my life. My friend called me a fool, saying no woman had been in my vicinity when they’d found me on the shore, but I know she’s real.”
You fidgeted with your hands. The atmosphere around the two of you was suddenly heavy with something that you could almost taste. “I’m sure she’s happy that she was able to help you.”
Jungkook nodded his head absentmindedly. “Yes, surely. I just hope one day I’ll be able to thank her.”
Finally, his eyes trailed away from you to take in the view instead. You let out a small breath of relief. Then the boat shifted to the side slightly and you were startled, grabbing the sides as you almost fell in the water.
“Careful!” Jungkook called out, reaching for you and holding you by one arm. You smiled gratefully at him, but then the current jerked the boat again and you fell forward a bit, closer to the prince.
His eyes were trained on yours and then they flickered down to your lips. You swallowed and your heart started to beat harder. Jungkook leaned in closer to you, watching your parted lips as he moved. You could feel his breath on your face.
Jerking away, you cleared your throat and dislodged his hand from your arm. Sitting back properly in your spot, you could feel your neck and face growing hot with embarrassment.
“We should probably return, Prince Jungkook,” you mumbled, unable to meet his eyes.
He nodded his head at your words. “You’re right, they’ll be wondering what’s taking us so long.” He picked up the wooden things again and started to row the boat back to where you two had gotten on, his arms working and drawing your gaze to them.
When you stepped out of the boat, Jungkook stopped you from walking away with a hand on your wrist, holding you lightly. You whirled around to look at him, eyes wide. “Yes, Prince Jungkook?” you breathed, heart beating wildly in your chest.
The look on his face was hard to decipher. “Call me Jungkook,” he finally said, voice soft enough that you had to strain to hear him.
“Okay,” you replied, just as softly. “Let’s head back, Jungkook.”
The prince smiled sheepishly at you and nodded, releasing your wrist from his gentle hold and walking forward. Before you turned away from the water, you caught a glimpse of something shifting in it. You squinted and strained your eyes, wondering if your eyes were starting to play tricks on you.
Then you gasped when you saw what it had been.
Hoseok’s face just barely popping out of the surface of the water, peeking at you with an unreadable expression.
