The Mercury Program - “Nazca Lines of Peru” From the album From the Vapor of Gasoline (2000)
Last song scrobbled from iTunes at Last.fm
While I don’t think that the Nazca Plateau is home to any erstwhile landing strips for alien starships, I can sure understand how its eerie, arid and isolated windscape might just facilitate the imagining, at least among our more suggestible and our more visionary, of just such a series of fantastic runways.
I think that The Mercury Program might be some of those doing this imagining, actually, visualizing the primitive starport as it might have been 1500 years ago, an anachronism nestled like a piece of engraved platinum between the hardscrabble Andean foothills and the Pacific Ocean.
he band’s music is nothing if not evocative, often spacious and always multilayered. Early on in “Nazca Lines of Peru, it’s only Dave Lebleu’s marvelous syncopated drumming that separates the tune from minimalism, all you hear is the buzzing of the bass and of the wind, all you see are the high white clouds sailing by. Later on, a webbed hand switches the starjets on, and the guitars roar, as the chromium gullwing of the alien ship disappears into the cerulean blue of the Sechura Desert sky.
And then, as quick as the hummingbird whose wings magnified 10,000 times are etched into the rusty landscape, it’s only the echo of the wind and the vibraphones again, the Nazca tribesmen listening as the breeze blows across the lonesome plateau, watching the seasons change, waiting for the 20 minutes of rain each year, drawing another geoglyph onto the face of the desert every generation or so, waiting for the starships and the frogmen to return.

Note
So I translated your last post using Google translate. I’m not sure it’s correct. Could you please verify? Thank you.
Translation:
Throw me like a frogman, sat on my crown prince You say, I'm the king, when you see I have a big tail
It's actually a very profound piece of lyrics from one of Frederik's own favourite bands. You can listen to the song here 😇
Throw me down like a frogman (frogmen are the Danish special operation forces that Frederik trained with), sit on my crown prince You say I'm the king, when you see I have a big schlong

Florida playlist
Tumblr media
Are they still counting the votes in Florida, Nevada and...speaking of Florida. I made a Florida playlist and last Xmas, I updated it, added songs to it for my trip across the state. I visited Daddy Kool Records in Saint Petersburg, Wax Records in Vero Beach and St Pete Records. But in the hire car, this was my playlist across Florida. Made the road trip that much more awesome. Not to mention a fabulous meal at Nicko McBrain’s Rock n Ribs!

My players have adopted the Foo Fighters (a medieval band in the world of Monogamy) after rescuing them from frogmen and come back to watch thier shows from time to time.
I'm still reeling that my players adopted an entire band and see thier concerts as proud parents do...

Books Read in 2020 #124 - “DC Showcase: TheWar That Time Forgot” By various. What should be a fun high concept idea, soldiers vs dinosaurs, turns out to be one of the most uninteresting collection of stories that DC has published. Every story recycles the same plot, platoon (usually paratroopers or frogmen) on a mission to some isolated island where there plane (or submarine) is suddenly attacked by prehistoric monsters. A small band of survivors then fights the same four monsters (I’m guessing that’s all artist Ross Andru knew how to draw) until a few are rescued and vow to keep quiet, because no-one would believe them. Maybe they should have told someone so the US military would stop sending troops to strange isolated islands!!

Dead Cells new DLC is a real Bad Seed
Tumblr media
The Bad Seed DLC releases for Dead Cells on Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Thansk to developer Motion Twin. The base games also discounted right now as well. But you can grab the DLC on both Steam and GOG. The exceptionally deadly new Dead Cells DLC, The Bad Seed releases. Which is now live on Linux, Mac and Windows PC. Including support for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The Bad Seed DLC for the heavily lauded Dead Cells. This is also the seventeenth update to the game. But does not alter the critical path. So players can still conquer the main storyline of the game. Rather, The Bad Seed introduces players to an additional path to take. While sporting all new optional biomes. Granting you incredible new weapons. And as ar result, sticks them in front of really dangerous enemies. Possibly questionably hard but definitely gross new foes. With two new biomes coming with their own beasts in The Bad Seed. The Arboretum is a lush paradise to deceivingly adorable creatures. While The Swamp is where an overgrown arboreal settlement inhabits. With ambushing blow gunners and spear wielders. So that is your only escape from the gargantuan purple ticks. Triumphing over these numerous perils. This also means you will be rewarded with a conceptually unique armory. Including the first double slot weapon. As well as a very dedicated and loyal mushroom companion. Of course, vengeance vested on The Bad Seed monsters. As well as conquering the challenging new biomes. But a few new weapons never hurt anybody.
Dead Cells: The Bad Seed - Animated Trailer
youtube
So you’ll be able to play through:
The Arboretum: A relaxing and peaceful greenhouse inhabited by a peaceful clan of mushrooms, with an understandable desire to murder the Beheaded.
The Swamp: A noxious environment ruled by a band of tree dwelling mutants with pointy sticks, sneaky dart shooting frogmen and a bunch of deadly bloodsuckers.
The Heart of the Swamp: Domain of mama tick, if you’ve seen StarShip Troopers, you get the idea...
The Bad Seed DLC is available for $4.99 USD. Check it out on Steam and GOG. Also, with that, the base game is discounted 30% sale on both stores, Steam and GOG.

Canon: Hawaii Five-0 Pairing: Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams Rating: Mature [R] Word Count: 23,365 Summary: WWII Pacific Theater based AU.
Rec: Oh man, this makes me jones for some Band of Brothers/Pacific. I liked the historical details (frogmen and their role in the Pacific theatre) and the adaptation of the team's backstories to fit the time period. I couldn't help finding Danny having to be militarily respectful hysterical (he's rather bad at it anyway). I also love that kristen999 snuck Kono in even though she couldn't believably be on the boat.
