This then serves as a home for the larvae of the gall wasp.

Wentke (Gown)

Women in Hindeloopen, a town in the northern Netherlandish province of Friesland, traditionally wore this type of striking lightweight coat, called a wentke, on special occasions. Beginning in the mid-eighteenth century, wentkes were usually made of boldly patterned Indian chintzes, and contrary to the custom in the rest of Europe of confining chintz to casual and private occasions, residents of Hindeloopen elevated this exotic fabric to a formal status. The wentke was often worn with other garments of Indian cotton. (The MET)

This is probably the only actual Eurovision post I'll make, but as someone from Friesland (the province in the Netherlands Joost is also from) there's something extra heartbreaking about his disqualification. Friesland is so often overlooked and marginalized and put away as just another backwards rural province, when in reality it has so much to offer; it has a long and incredible history. In fact, the Frisian language has existed for so long that it shares similarities with middle English. We have so much music and literature and culture, but so few people see or even respect that.

Everyone was so proud and excited that a Frisian was representing not just our province, but the entire Netherlands. And they took that away, too. It truly hurts extra hard, knowing how much this meant to an already often overlooked minority within the Netherlands.

Hii guys!! ✨️ Continuing on what I've found in Mendels book, now I'll be sharing letters that King Louis Bonaparte sent to Daendels 🫡 There's is 14 of them so I'll make like a couple of series w this one 👀 Each part I will share 3 or 4 letters depending on each page in the Mendels book 😌 For now, I'm still trying to understand the meaning of each letter so I'm not rlly ready yet to give a summary on what are they talking abt 🫠 But I thought of sharing it now since why not haha ☺️ That's all for now, I'm sorry if there is misinformation due to translation 🙏 Thank you guys n have a nice day, stay safe 🌙

1st Letter :

Mr. General Daendels, I have received the letter that you wrote to me to announce your acceptance of the position of Extraordinary State Councilor to which I have appointed you. I know so well your services and your zeal for your country, that I have not doubted for a single moment the pleasure that I would give you by giving you the opportunity to use your knowledge for my service and the good of your country. On this, General Daendels, I pray to God that he has you in his holy keeping. Mainz, August 1806 LOUIS.

2nd Letter :

Mr. General Daendels, I accept the offer that you make with pleasure, and if we have war, I will immediately call you to the army and give you back the rank that you have occupied there with distinction. 3rd Letter :

Mr. General Daendels, I inform you that I have appointed you Senior Military Commander of the Third Military Division and of the Third Army Division, stationed on the borders of the Ems. General Broux, the commanders of Delfzijl and Coewerden, the commanders of the depots of the various corps, the 9th line regiment (new number), all the various detachments of the other corps which could be in this district, all the buildings of the royal navy and the officers who command them, the national guards of these departments, the recruiting officers and non-commissioned officers who could be there, will be under your orders. You will take the greatest care to have the national guards formed in each important position, in accordance with the instructions that the administrations departmental have received from the Minister of the Interior. You will all wear your care to increase, by this means, the garrisons of Delfzijl and Coewerden, and mainly from Groningen. You will be instructed by Colonel Croiset means of defense, which floods can provide in a case of urgent need. The Friesian Horse

Even though not referred to as a Friesian this is a horse from Friesland - the Dutch province that Friesians orginated in - that shows the same features and likely gives a sense of the breeds earlier origins and appearance.

Arno van Kessel and Peter Stassen are two Dutch attorneys who have worked together on several notable cases, particularly those related to the covid-19 pandemic and its aftermath.  One of those covid cases is against Bill Gates.

Gates tried to claim that the Dutch court had no jurisdiction over him.  Last week, the court ruled that it did.

Arno van Kessel and Peter Stassen are representing seven claimants who alleged harm from covid injections. The case against Bill Gates and others, facilitated by the Stichting Recht Oprecht Foundation, is a significant development in the Netherlands. The case is being heard at the Leeuwarden District Court in the Dutch province of Fryslân (Friesland).

Proceedings officially began on 14 July 2023 when bailiffs travelled across the Netherlands to serve summons to the 17 defendants. Two of the defendants, Bill Gates and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, live in the United States so the Public Prosecutors Office was also served as well as summons being sent to the two men, by courier, to their addresses.  The case was due to be first heard on 22 November 2023.

Last year, Stichting Recht Oprecht’s Charles de Recht interviewed van Kessel and Stassen about the civil case being launched by a group of seven vaccine-injured Dutch citizens against Prime Minister Mark Rutte, former Minister Hugo de Jonge and several members of the Outbreak Management Team, which advised the government.

“The proceedings are being conducted on the legal basis of tort,” Stassen said.  A tort is a civil wrong that causes harm to another person by violating a protected right.

Stassen added, “The central [tenet] is that covid-19 is not a disease but an unlawful project as part of The Great Reset.”

“What makes this case special is that the entire Dutch state, this means all state ministries and institutions, are being sued by our clients for deliberately committing an unlawful act against them. And, in fact, against the entire Dutch people,” van Kessel said.

This full length coat style is referred to as a wentke. It comes from the Netherlands and was created in the mid 18th century. Originating in the province of Friesland, and in particular in the town of Hindeloopen, it was a type of closely fitted long coat worn over full length skirts with a blouse and stays. The fashion began in the 1600s and continued through the 1700s into the early 1800s. Due to the huge amount of trade with the Eastern world that came through Amsterdam, a large number of these wentke were made up in imported printed Indian cotton fabrics like the example here. This sample, now in the care of the MET is a brilliantly colored and complex pattern that is well matched at the center back. The coat cuffs and opening are edged with a red and cream linen trimming, and the wentke is lined in linen as well. I’m including an image of a complete ensemble for reference.

One thing that always annoys me a little is that Usamericans often use abbreviations of their states and expect everyone to just know what it means, while leaving out the country name too

Like for example, they say they are from "Amsterdam NY" instead of "United States of America, New York state, Amsterdam"

And then of course I'm like "ah so they're from Amsterdam (Netherlands) but I don't know what that ny thing means" (note; I know it means New York, the state, not the city, WHICH IS ALSO CONFUSING BTW)

Like I'm sorry but it's just, ya'll can't realistically expect the entire rest of the world to magically know all your province/state names right? Thats why you should include the country name and not abbreviate the state name

Because if I said "oh yeah I'm from Leeuwarden FL" without specifically stating which country, I bet some of ya'll would think I mean Florida in the US but no I'm talking about Friesland in the Netherlands, confusing right?

So please try to make it a little easier for us too, just like we do for you, thank you

It's really interesting to see the differences in Dutch traditional clothing. For example, Hindeloopen (left) and Leeuwarden (right) here. Both are places in the province of Friesland, but the traditional clothes are completely different.

Is there a real world equivalent accent that your OCs have? (Like even though Ireland might not exist in your world they still have something that could be considered or inspired by a Irish accent, for example)

for each of my ocs, i retrieve cultural inspiration from somewhere on earth. Alberich and Spera Amadea have the tightest influence!

Alberich Wiersma - I was inspired by Germanic languages and decided on the name Alberich, which originates from Old High German. Wiersma is a surname of West Frisian origin. West Frisian is a long-living language of the Dutch province, Friesland. Therefore, I picture Alberich with a strong German accent.

Spera Amadea Millefiori - Spera’s name is something I invented myself. This character is my way of portraying subtle Italian culture, and I was thinking of Italian words I could transform into a name fit for a elegant water nymph. Spera originates from the verb Sperare (to hope) and is the conjugation of he/she/it hopes. Amadea came from me always having liked the name ‘Amadeus’ - the Italian reference here is that Amadeus is the name of a well-known Italian tv-presenter - and I morphed into a Italian feminine sounding name. Turns out - it is actually an Italian / Latin name! Millefiori is the name of my favourite honey (i’m a big fan of honey). Miele di Millefiori means Wildflower Honey, which seems very fitting for a nymph. Anyway, I definitely picture Spera with a subtle italian accent, specifically a Southern-Italian accent.
