I got sad looking through these, because you can see him decline month by month as the FIP took hold. but we once got him in the medical study, he recovered SO FAST! I have a vivid memory of him kneading his blanket in the carrier after he got his first shot.

and now he gets to be an adult, and have many more (hopefully less eventful) years ahead!

What should rust and anns ship name be

hmmmm... ratsoh said "rann", but she was teasing. i don't think it should be that, so....... if you take the rule of shipnames from, say, the pokemon fandom, you have symbolic words that represent the ship (instead of just smushing names together).

(putting this under the cut/readmore because it's a little long, lol)

so, in time-honored tradition, let's think about symbolism for ann and rust. ann is a fiery, passionate woman who deeply cares for and loves her familial ties. rust is like that too, but he's not as obvious about it, preferring to hide his vulnerabilities from anyone he's not extremely close to. he puts up a front with people he's not close to- especially fellow fell monsters- so he seems tough and scary. which he is, but he shows his soft side to ann (and their kiddos), because ann has shown she can be trusted with his vulnerability.

so your ship name should be...............

snapdragon! (yes, like the flower.)

snapdragons also have the symbolism of strength, grace, magic, and deception. ann is definitely a graceful lady, from what i know. both rust and ann are strong, stubborn people, and they're pretty much perfect for each other. magic... i'm pretty sure you know how that one goes, heh. i don't think the deception part applies much to either ann or rust, but rust has sent out people he trusts to make sure ann is safe when she's gone on her walks, which is... maybe not the most honest thing? but he's doing it out of love (and fretting for her safety), so that's what matters.

I needed guidance, so I went to my friend’s house. He was a Hawaiian elder, a chief or something, so I knew he’d be able to help me with my problems.

While I was there telling him what was bothering me, this little gray puppy ran up and hopped in my lap, started licking me all over. He told me the dog just showed up one day, so he’d been feeding it, but he can’t touch it since he’s allergic to dogs. It was so cute, this little gray thing with dark gray eyebrows and a dark gray moustache.

The elder had to get up to get his allergy medication, and on his way to the bathroom he told me I should take my boat and sail, go see the world. I was looking at the art on his walls and decided I’d take the dog with me, as a companion, so I named him Eyebrows ‘cause of his dark eyebrows.
