October 5: This one’s a play off a prompt from last year AND it’s a writing prompt! Take any famous character from a horror film, and create a nursery rhyme about them. You can make it completely innocent, or, like many nursery rhymes, remain dark but disguised in pretty language.

I think my character is pretty obvious, and as an added bonus I made 2 haiku (apparently the plural is the same) between Mother and son.

“Ok in the original error message on Grammy night there’s the the code that says DPT which obviously now is the acronym for Tortured Poets Department but backwards and it’s counting down 3-2-1 from back to front IT’S LIKE IT’S STARTING FROM THE END INSTEAD OF THE BEGINNING or from the last page instead of the first chapter and the word scramble is literally a red herring and the original error is web speak for the system crashing BECAUSE THERE’S BEEN A GLITCH THE SYSTEM IS OVERLOADED so she has to go back to basics with a typewriter instead in the latest tease but also the betting Swifties are saying the Apple Music scramble is spelling out Glitch backwards too and the original error message is a black page with white font but the NEW error message is white with black font they’re like TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN and now she’s teasing 13– THIRTEEN WHAT?!—“

Stuff of Legends
Words: 143 Tagging: @flashfictionfridayofficial
Tumblr media
You are the stuff of legends.
Please, do not ever let anyone tell you otherwise. You are brave and strong, kind and loving. So what if you get angry sometimes? Do you not think, that those whose names echo in history did not get angry too?
You are the stuff of legends.
You are a star that is shinning, bright and mighty upon earthly firmament. So, please, do not dismiss yourself. Do not make yourself to be less, because you are magnificent.
You are the stuff of legends.
But some people forget, that not all legends names are written down, some names are passed down by word. Because the legend they left behind is kindness in an unkind word. So, please. Be the stuff of legend: loving and kind, fierce and bold when needed. And wise enough to know how to be each.

poem for aphrodite
Hail to the fair one! Laughter loving, oh mother
She who brings us close to one another
She who is the nurturer of lovers,
She who brings joy and wonder.
Born from sea-foam, mother of the archerer,
Your warlike aspects make you all the fiercer,
Eyes as bright and warm as fire,
And your voice is as beautiful as summer.
Hail to Aphrodite! Bringer of life,
She who is as radiant as the night.

Election Night Poem
Stop
Stop looking at the polls,
And look into my eyes.
Before a single thing,
Before any one of 50 states swing,
Before the news and texts,
Before the speeches lead on to the next,
Listen.
I love you.
I love you.
I love you, and I will be there for you.
I love you.
Can you hear me?
Take a break from the rest of the world
For just a moment let me be all
And listen
I love you.
We will take care of each other.
I love you.
That’s all.

Paper Promises
Words: 174 Tagging: @flashfictionfridayofficial
Tumblr media
I have all the promises that we have made to each other written down, made solid by paper and ink. The journal in which I keep them, has a deep blue cover, the color of the depths of the sea; the same depth that holds each promise no matter how insignificant it may seem to be.
One is the promise of always having the kind of coffee you always like. Another is the promise you made about getting funny bookmarks for me (yes, I love each one), but the promise that holds more weight is that one we made about laughing together. We vowed to laugh and enjoy life. So, in case we ever went our separate ways we'd always have good memories.
Some would say that friends are foolish to make such promises. But I love you enough to try and be the very best version of myself I can be, in the same way I know you try for me. So, let us try and be the kind of human this world needs.

loved by the keeper of the doves.
A man who is mortal, all loved
But more loved was he by the Keeper of Doves.
Shooting his arrow from every angle,
Such a dangerous job, yet he was so careful.
Loved was the mortal, Adonis the all loved
But more loved was he by the keeper of the doves.
Selene’s beauty shined over the earth,
Laughter-loving Aphrodite watched him with mirth,
Watching as his arrows went free in every direction
Her gaze was filled with such affection.
But out from the darkness, came out a boar
Rushing at the man with a wild roar,
Had he noticed, he would have pierced the flesh
Yet the blood on the ground was all that was left.
Swift was Aphrodite, flying in her chariot
White roses shifting beneath her chariot, so vibrant.
A thorn picked at her foot, blood staining the petals,
But how could she care, when he had lost in his daily battles?
The she-wolf goddess wept on the corpse of Adonis, all loved,
But more loved was he by the Keeper of the Doves.
