Hope - Clay Miller x Reader
Friday 13th (2009) Oneshot
Tumblr media
Warnings: Some cringy dialogue ( let's face it,the group are all cringy stereotypes lol). Allusions to Jason's story and some grim warnings regarding him. I'm also expanding the new rule introduced in the 2009 film, where sense of familiarity with his past not only distracted him but also made him spare a life for a while.
Summary: You are the only person who has given Clay any hope on the desperate search for his sister. Unlike most of the locals he had approached, some mysterious reason keeps you convinced that she could still be alive and on this determination you join forces with him.
Nobody else seems to mind about it and when the blatant disrespect from a tourist really pisses you off, you stand up for Clay giving him a frightening show exposing why he should care.

It was weird for Clay to find a self presented volunteer when the entire community was ignoring him, but when you approached him with the missing poster in hand offering your help he felt slightly relieved. At least he wasn’t completely alone and although you were a bit odd, you had a strong will to support him. Looking at Whitney’s picture, you simply stated that she looked like a sweet girl and that could possibly mean she could still be around. When asked about it, you acted as if some intuition based on practical knowledge would be telling you that. You wouldn’t tell him why, but you were convinced that she was still to be found.
Of course, it was not going to be easy and the shitty attitudes you would find in the way were unnerving. The handsome, soft tempered boy you were following had the patience of a saint, but you wouldn’t stand it. The tone deaf blond guy at the gas station was the moment when you knew you had enough.
After a very brief argument Clay was just going to leave, but you had other plans.
“ He will wreck you.” You casually told the stranger in a sinister tone. “ Mock us while you still can, blondie. I believe his sister has a chance ... You? Not so much."
Everyone was weirded, but he thought you were just looking for a fight.
“ Yeah, I don’t think so.” Was his self satisfying reply. “ You, him and who else?”
It made you chuckle and you struggled for it not to turn into a full loud cackle.
“ You aren’t from here, aren’t you? " You followed, giving a few steps closer to him with a weirdly intimidating demeanor. “ People don’t get to be jerks here and walk out harmless, the forest has eyes and its guardian loathes people like you the most..”
The asshole clearly didn't get to fully comprehend the meaning of your words. Still, you managed to creep him and his girlfriend, what was enough vengeance for you. The most inmediate reaction you obtained for Clay was a bit of hard to hide laughing, probably thinking that you were just messing with the guy, but he did capture some underneath intentionality in your strange warning.
He trully thought it was a joke, untill he later referenced it again in a lighter note and your face let him know it wasn't a funny little scheme he should feel thankfull for.
" You don't have to thank me, it's all real. " You cutted him off. " Weird things happen arround here, the kind that nobody would believe. People go missing to never be found and we pretend is not our problem
I need to help you because i really like you and you HAVE to get out from here as soon as possible. "
Your hand was shaking and he held it as as a reassuring gesture before inviting you to continue.
" If you know anything that could make this easier, please share it. "
Your soft look adquired a glimpse of skepticism.
" It doesn't matter. Even if i try to explain you, it would be impossible to make you understand. One does not believe it untill you see it and very few survive to tell the tale. "
He smiled and you couldn't help to internally melt to the softness in his expression.
" I promise i will believe you. Or at least I will do my best, anything that may help me understand would be amazing rĂght now. "
The indirectly mocking tone in the last part made you smile back, then you swallowed hard rĂght before starting your tale.
" To many persons he can mean different things, but I see him as a guardian of the forest. Not necesarily of the enviromental care type, but we know he hunts down people for doing stupid shit. It's a sort of local legend: a bullied kid who died back in the old summer camp and now remains as an undead watcher of the area. Legend says that once triggered he can't be stopped, but i believe different and that's why i feel your sister could be alive. "
He wasn't getting it, but kept himself loyal to the promise and didn't question you. His guess was in myth and reality mixing up to end up covering the activity of a serial killer whose victims were attributed to the legend by the locals.
One way or another, it wasn't the hopefull take he once expected.
" What made you think that? Besides from an obvious bias coming from your interest in me."
You felt a bit embarrased, but it didn't ruined your disposition to continue.
" I believe he is capable of sparing a life only when coming across things he finds familar. I saw it happening with my own two eyes. "
It wasn't easy, but you had to tell him the truth.
" Back in highschool I wanted so badly to belong, to feel how was like to be a part of something. I was hanging out with people who just wanted to make fun of me, fooling myself into believing someday i could be friends. "
You began to cry, pausing for an instant untill the sobbing would be slow enough to allow you finish.
"
They are gone and i'm still here. Common sense would be thinking i just hid myself well, i fooled him. I didn't, i can't help thinking he just pretended not to spot me. The pathetic, lonely, bullied looser must have have hitted close to home. "
You hugged him out of sudden and he didn't protest about it. Of all the weird things you said, he only understood you were admitting to be the only survivor of a massacre.
" Your sister seems like a lovely girl. If i'm still breathing, you can count there is hope for her. "
He had no words that could possibly express any processing of what you just told him, but trully appreciated the deep comfort of your embrace.

5:32:13 = 50 or 14 = 5
November 25, 2024 at 5:32pm PHT: Just because I know him from Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), and then I noticed "age 47" which reminded me of April 7, 2023. It was the day when I spontaneously decided to finish watching Alex Proyas' Knowing (2009) after stalling and rewinding it for countless of times already. It also happened to be a Good Friday and my brother-in-law's 28th birthday. ❀
📌 NOTE: I also searched "edward furlong tutor" her on Tumblr and saw this appeared first on the results today on November 28, 2024 at 5:01am PHT. Look at the date! Unfortunately, I have already stopped taking screenshots, but I would just like to point that out still. đŸ€Ż

Adapting to Battle a Common Enemy
On 31 Dec 2019, our associate consultant Dr Karrie Ko posted a Reuters report on the Department of Microbiology junior doctors WhatsApp chat- “Chinese officials investigate cause of pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan.” It didn’t elicit an immediate response. At that time most of us did not even know where Wuhan was, or that it had a population of over 11 million. It all seemed very remote.
My regular tea-buddy is from the Department of Molecular Pathology. Through Jan, the Wuhan pneumonia situation cropped up regularly in our discussions. If there was a need to diagnose this new disease by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), his department would bear the brunt of testing. Even back then, they were already making decisions on choice of swabs, and stockpiling reagents in anticipation of future shortages. They detected the first COVID-19 case in Singapore on 23 Jan2020. At that time I was just concluding a carefree holiday in Kyushu, Japan. My wife said there was a noticeable change in my mood when I got the news. I could tell from my WhatsApp chats and work emails that the hospital was mobilising as if for war.
On 6 Feb, my tea-buddy sent me an article reprinted in the Straits Times from Caixin Global titled "Reporter’s Notebook: Life and death in a Wuhan coronavirus ICU”. Up till then, I still harboured illusions that this could be a relatively mild illness like the H1N1 in 2009, in fact the initial cases did not seem to be as bad as SARS. However we now know that it is precisely because many people experience mild (or no) symptoms, that this virus is so successful at spreading. This article gave the first hint that if many people got infected, there would be enough very sick patients presenting in a short time to overwhelm a healthcare system.
Ramping up
Every Friday morning, the Singapore infectious diseases community meets at one of the larger public hospitals to discuss interesting cases. On 7 Feb, we met virtually on Zoom for the first time to discuss some of the earliest COVID-19 cases. We have not met in-person since.
Tumblr media
The following day (Feb 8), the Infection Prevention Team required all staff to wear masks in the laboratory. This seemed strange as we were not patient-fronting, and we have been handling all specimens in biosafety cabinets to reduce risk of infection since SARS in 2003, . I half-joked that this was to protect us from infecting each other. I don’t know if this was indeed the original intention but in light of present universal masking guidelines, it probably was not a bad move.
The Department of Microbiology was largely spared the initial flurry of activity. However it soon became apparent that our molecular pathology colleagues were rapidly getting swamped with work. Immediately after Lunar New Year (28 Jan) we decided to deploy our microbiology trainees to help them. It was an easy decision to make. This was an once-in-a-lifetime (hopefully!) opportunity for the trainees to participate in a national effort during a pandemic of historic proportions. Whatever experience they acquired would still be very relevant to their training. So far, they have assisted in the evaluation of three automated SARS-CoV-2 PCR test systems, and the validation of pooled samples and different swabs. They also assisted in data collection and statistics, and reporting of SARS-CoV-2 results.
Tumblr media
Dr Kenneth Goh (above) and Dr Shireen Tan (below) performing an evaluation of a SARS-CoV-2 PCR test.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dr Deborah Lai (left) reviewing a SARS-CoV-2 PCR result in the Department of Molecular Pathology.
However as the national demand for testing surged, this proved to be still insufficient. From Feb 10 onwards, up to seven microbiology medical lab technologists/scientists (MLT/S) were reassigned to molecular pathology to help with the increasing load of SARS-CoV-2 PCR requests. This was a much more painful decision, as labs are only staffed just sufficiently to be cost-efficient during peacetime. This meant that we had to find ways of coping with less staff, and it was a scheduling nightmare for the supervisors. We even had to contemplate cutting services, though fortunately it never actually came to that.
Settling into a new routine
By April-May, the situation started to stabilize with molecular pathology having increased their staffing and capacity. We had also started introducing our own battery of COVID-19 tests.
Tumblr media
In the Diagnostic Bacteriology Lab, MLT Yap Hock Guan loads a random-access automated PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 into a machine that is also used for MRSA and Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales screening. This particular test (introduced into service on 13 May) is used when a patient in the hospital needs an urgent result within a few hours. The Department of Molecular Pathology continues to do the vast majority of SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing in large batches.
Tumblr media
Over in the Virology Lab, MLS Tan Chai Teng runs a high throughput COVID-19 serology test. To date, we have evaluated a total of eight different serology tests. We started offering this service from 14 May, and by the end of June we had run about 26,000 tests.
Tumblr media
Under normal circumstances, the Epidemiology Laboratory carries out molecular fingerprinting of multidrug resistant bacteria for hospital outbreak investigations. Here MLT Jolene Gien loads a sequencer under the watchful eye of Senior MLS Dr Nurdyana Bte Abdul Rahman. They are sequencing SARS-CoV-2 genomes to help guide contact tracing efforts. These sequences (together with those contributed by other labs in Singapore and around the world) are uploaded onto the GISAID website (https://www.gisaid.org).
Tumblr media
Dr Karrie Ko was starting her PhD on the hospital environmental microbiome when the COVID-19 outbreak occurred. She has now redirected some of her research to the study of SARS-CoV-2 in the environment.
It has been eight months (as of 1 Sept) since that initial WhatsApp post and we have settled into a kind of rhythm. We now feel naked without a mask, meetings are held by videoconference even if our offices may only be a short distance away from each other, meals are consumed in solitude on-site rather than with work-mates over at Tiong Bahru Food Centre. There is a SafeEntry QR code on my office noticeboard, and we have to log in our temperature recordings twice daily. I no longer meet my colleague from the Department of Molecular Pathology for tea.
Despite the stress and social isolation, everybody is taking things in the right spirit and is working with a common purpose. We are painfully aware of all the suffering around the world, and are grateful to be making a direct contribution to get Singapore back on track.

I put more effort into this than some essays I’ve done for school/college
There are two confirmed dates we know in the Boueibu timeline.
In LOVE LOVE, March 13th is on a Friday. (Shown on Kinshirou’s omen calendar.)
In Happy Kiss, August 31st is on a Friday 10 years later. (Shown on Rashio’s calendar and a wall calendar in the Kurotama.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Robihachi, we know the moon landing happened on July 18, 1969 (in real life it was July 20th), which was marked as Galaxy Century 0001. The current timeline is happening in GC 0051, so sometime after July 18, 2019 (unless the GC is added to on New Year’s, but I’ll get to that).
Let’s start off with when Boueibu can’t take place. (The main timeline, at least. Flashbacks are possible.)
The 70s. The only March 13th that’s on a Friday is in 1970. This would put all of LOVE in 1969, and Happy Kiss in 1979. We know the beginning of LOVE takes place pre-July, so this wouldn’t work because it’s before the first contact. There’s also the case of all the flashbacks – Goura being a hero, the Beppu’s father’s job
Aliens had definitely made contact, so none of that could’ve taken place in the 60s.
The 00s. While March 13, 2009 is on a Friday, it would mean Happy Kiss takes place in 2018. The technology in Robihachi seems too advanced for it to take place the year after Happy Kiss, unless Binan went untouched by the technological advances shown in Neo-Tokyo. Plus, Boueibu LOVE and LOVE LOVE merch and posters were shown on a planet that loves mainly retro anime. It was most likely CIDER rebranded as Boueibu. The 00s is too recent to be retro.
So, there are three possibilities for where Boueibu fits in:
LOVE – 1980-81, HK – 1990
LOVE – 1991-92, HK – 2001
LOVE – 1997-98, HK – 2007
As of now, we can only speculate which option is correct. Under the cut, I’ll explain which of the options I think it is, and why.
We may be able to narrow it down further based on the events that Atsushi asks En if he’s thinking about:
The tax increase – L
The Olympics – L, LL, and LLL
The constitution – LL
Chikuwabu – LL
Toyosu – LLL
Trump - LLL
Chikuwabu being brought up in the second season is a reference to the first season, but it’s also a hint – none of the subjects Atsushi brings up is random. Everything he mentions is something En has talked about in the past in a similar train of thought conversation, though off-screen. So it doesn’t necessarily need to be a current event for Atsushi to bring it up – after all, En ranted about chikuwabu in what was probably April or May, only for Atsushi to guess it in November.
Something to keep in mind for Atsushi’s comments is they were probably meant to be references to current events from when the seasons/OVA came out. However, I still was able to find things relating to them in the 80s and 90s. Their timeline is also split off our own – changes started happening July 18, 1969. So, these could be references to things that never happened in our timeline, or things that could have happened but didn’t. So these points are really in a gray area.
The one constant through LOVE, LOVE LOVE, and LOVE LOVE LOVE is the Olympics, so let’s start with that. I looked up Olympic years to see what the overlap was with the timeline estimates.
1980 – winter was in the US, summer was in the Soviet Union
1992 – winter was in France, summer was in Spain
1996 – summer, in the US
1998 – winter, in Japan
The tax increase – According to Wikipedia, there was a tax increase to 5% in April 1997. For tax-related things in general, “Japan introduced the national consumption tax of three percent in 1989” (Wikipedia).
The constitution – According to Wikipedia, “From the 1960s to the 1980s, Constitutional revision was rarely debated.” There were some suggestions for revisions in the 1990s.
Toyosu –Urban Dock LaLaPort opened in the 1980s – it’s a huge shopping mall with a cinema, restaurants, and cafes.
Trump – It could be referring to anything for these three estimates – financial losses in the 1980s, the Grand Hyatt Hotel was opened in 1980, and in the 90s he was dropped from the Forbes List, had some bankruptcies, got a divorce, and met his current wife. There’s probably more, but that’s really what I could find on Wikipedia.
Now, you may be thinking, “This was supposed to narrow it all down! There’s too many options!” Like I said, these are events that were current for when the anime was airing, but I wanted to prove that they could apply to all three options.
To narrow things down for real, there are a few things we have to look at.
When the twins are watching Maximum Gorar, they have an old TV and a strange looking remote control. Takamatsu tweeted about it back in 2016, and the remote is based on one that actually existed – the Zubacon. He said it came out in the early 1970s, and I found it came out in 1971, to be exact.
Tumblr media
The second flashback is in Happy Kiss. In the treasure hunt/time capsule episode, there’s a flashback with a poster of a GameCube-style system with the kanji 新ç™șćŁČ – which translates to “new product/model.” In reality, it came out in 2001, but there were some updated models that were released until it was discontinued in 2007.
Tumblr media
According to Yang, Binan Shonen Love-Love was an anime from when he was in grade school – specifically he says 氏歩生 which is elementary school, so first to sixth grade. He would have been anywhere from six to twelve. The art style doesn’t look like Hizakuriger, so we know it’s not a retro-retro anime, but we don’t have Yang’s official age. We also don’t know if Binan Shonen Love-Love was based off of Boueibu or if Binan was chosen in CIDER due to the anime’s popularity.
Until we get an official age, let’s say Yang’s 30 at the youngest, and 45 at the oldest. If he’s 45, he would have entered first grade in 1980 and left sixth grade in 1986. If he’s 30, he would have entered first grade in 1995 and left sixth grade in 2001. So Binan Shonen aired sometime between 1980 and 2001.
Finally, there’s references to other anime.
In LOVE’s beach episode, Atsushi references Detective Conan. That started in Shonen Jump in 1994.
On the stats screen for the idol battle in LOVE LOVE, Ryuu is making a Sailor Moon pose. Sailor Moon started in 1991.
In Happy Kiss’s beach/vacation episode, Karurusu references the Sazae-san anime, which began airing in 1969 and is the longest running animated television series. (While Sazae-san won’t help us on the timeline, I just want to point out it’s interesting that it started the same year as the moon landing – GC 0001.)
Putting all of this together, from what we know I think it’s safe to say Boueibu took place during the third option – 1997-98, with Happy Kiss in 2007.
Why?
It’s mainly because of the last point – the anime references. However, this shouldn’t be the driving factor of the timeline theory. After all, because of the contact with aliens, these series could have all started sooner. However, let me back up and explain with the other points.
It places the third years’ births in 1979, the second years in 1980, and Yumoto in 1981. With the twins being born in 1980, this would make them start elementary school in 1986. While their remote is from the early 70s, it’s plausible they would still be using it in the 80s to watch Maximum Gorar. Because really, how often do you change your remote?
Now, the GameCube lookalike. Kingo is a first year, so if Happy Kiss takes place in 2007, the flashback could have taken place around 2001, possibly a few years earlier if alien technology sped up the process in which the GameCube was released.
From the glimpse we saw, Binan Shonen Love-Love doesn’t look like an 80s anime. It could have aired in the gap between the OVA and Happy Kiss, based off the popularity of CIDER – sometime between 1998 and 2001, when Yang was still in elementary school. However, if CIDER chose Binan because of the anime, it could have taken place as early as 1980.
Having LOVE take place in 1997-98 makes sense for their current technology – their phones appear to be the model Sony Xperia S, which was released in 2012, but due to alien technology could have been released sooner – especially since the first touchscreen phone was released in 1992.
In the New Year’s episode, the remote control doesn’t look modern – it could pass as one from our 90s or 00s. Plus, Atsushi has a DVD boxed set, not Blu-rays. The first DVDs came out in the late 90s.
In Happy Kiss, the Kurotama now has a flat screen TV that looks like an older model (for us). Yumoto uses an older looking instant Polaroid camera in Ata’s flashback in Happy Kiss. They’re still used today, but they were popular in the 90s.
In conclusion, LOVE takes place in 1997-98, and Happy Kiss takes place in 2007.
Now, to find out what Galaxy Centuries they take place. 1969 is counted as 0001 – which makes the math slightly confusing. It’s not like birthdays, where you count the anniversaries and not the actual birth. This makes 2019 GC 0051.
Assuming that Galaxy Centuries start in July and years are counted separately (because of the New Year episode), LOVE takes place in GC 28-29, and Happy Kiss takes place in GC 38-39.
If the next GC starts on New Year’s, then LOVE takes place in GC 29-30, and Happy Kiss takes place in GC 39.
Anyway, onto how old the LOVE and Happy Kiss boys would be if they appear in Robihachi!
LOVE:
Third years – 40
Second years – 39
Yumoto – 38
Happy Kiss:
Third years – 30
Second years – 29
First years – 28
(Also, if Hatchi really is 18 like his bio says (instead of being older and hiding his age to keep his identity as the moon prince secret) his birth year would be 2001, three years after the OVA, making it possible that Kinshirou could be his father if he had him at 22.)

HEART OF A COWARD
 SIGN TO ARISING EMPIRE RECORDS!
Arising  Empire Records are proud to announce the worldwide signing of intrepid British metal quintet Heart Of A Coward.  Welcome to the family! Heart   Of A Coward announced the addition of vocalist Kaan Tasan to their ranks early last year, alongside the release of bruising new track ‘Collapse’.            The band have since been busy working on new material, and are planning to release a new album in 2019.                         The band stated: "We are incredibly excited to be a part of the Arising Empire family for our 4th            release. Album 4 is always a difficult one and we couldn't have picked a more supportive label to put this out for us. We look            forward to seeing you all in 2019."                        Heart Of            A Coward will be playing Download Festival UK on            June 16th (tickets/info HERE).                        On Friday the band announced that they will be touring Germany in            April as special guests to Any            Given Day, alongside Tenside.            Tickets are on sale now!                        10/04    Germany - Hamburg - Logo            11/04    Germany - Berlin - Musik & Frieden            12/04    Germany - Frankfurt – Das Bett            13/04    Germany - Oberhausen – Impericon Festival*            14/04    Germany - Munich – Backstage Halle            *without Tenside             Tickets are available from www.eventim.de
Formed in            Milton Keynes in 2009, Heart            Of A Coward have released three albums to date; ‘Hope and Hindrance’            (2012), ‘Severance’            (2013) and ‘Deliverance’            (2015). ‘Hope and Hindrance’ was self-released - it laid down the foundations for their sound, garnering the band a reaction they ’d never previously anticipated. The positive feedback spurred them on and seeded the realisation of what could be possible if they knuckled down and continued honing their craft.                         With ‘Severance’ they achieved just that and some more – mixed by Will Putney, the record saw Heart Of A Coward bulldoze their way through the mob, making the metal world stand up and take notice. It packed a heavier punch alongside more traditional song structures; “Such purpose, poise, power, and panache are not attributes you would often associate with a band at such early stages of their development, but Heart of  a Coward firmly hold all of these traits within their grasp” Pop Matters  on ‘Severance’   in 2014.                         Produced by   Justin Hill and the band, ‘Deliverance' arrived like a freight train in 2015, further cementing Heart Of A Coward ’s standing in the international metal scene. The band had mastered their sound, building on their previous works with their ramped up expertise gained from hours cutting their teeth on the live circuit. Unsurprisingly the release helped expand their global fan base, earning the band remarkable reviews in the press. “This is easily the best British metal release of 2015 and a sure sign that the band’s potential will not be wasted.” New Noise Magazine on ‘Deliverance’ in 2015.                         Heart Of A Coward have also racked up an impressive live arsenal, having toured with the likes of Machine Head, Darkest Hour, Sikth, Thy Art Is Murder and Suicide Silence etc. They’ve played many of Europe ’s biggest festivals, including Download  Festival, Euroblast, Bloodstock, Slam Dunk, Tech Fest (headliners), Resurrection Festival, With Full Force, Summer  Breeze.                If you missed latest track/video ‘Collapse’ you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/Ni5NUrssC5E                        Heart Of A            Coward are:            Kaan Tasan (Vocals)            Carl Ayers (Guitars)            Steve Haycock (Guitars)            Vishal Khetia (Bass)            Christopher Mansbridge (Drums)                        Heart Of A            Coward links:            www.facebook.com/heartofacowardofficial            www.twitter.com/hoac_official            www.instagram.com/heartofacowardofficial            www.heartofacoward.bigcartel.com/

Trump Trade Tariffs & Tough Talk Stifle NASDAQ’s Mid-Year Rally
Tumblr media
As usual end-of-Q2 weakness, especially in the week after June’s option expiration week, setup of NASDAQ’s mid-year rally quite nicely. Immigration policy issues at the Mexican border added to this perennial weakness providing a solid entry opportunity for NASDAQ’s mid-year rally. Typical early July strength at the outset of Q3 has given the mid-year rally a healthy boost. But continued trade battles, more tariffs and tough Trump talk with his European counterparts has spooked the market, shaving some points off this rally. It may be time for an early exit from this trade that ends Friday.
In the mid-1980s the market began to evolve into a tech-driven market and the market’s focus in early summer shifted to the outlook for second quarter earnings of technology companies. Over the last three trading days of June and the first nine trading days in July, NASDAQ typically enjoys a rally. This 12-day run has been up 25 of the past 33 years with an average historical gain of 2.4%. This year the rally could begin on or around June 27 and last until around July 13.
After the bursting of the tech bubble in 2000, NASDAQ’s mid-year rally had a spotty track record from 2002 until 2009 with three appearances and five no-shows in those years. However, it has been quite solid over the last eight years, up seven times with a single mild 0.1% loss in 2015. Last year, NASDAQ advanced a respectable 2.7% during the 12-day span. As of today’s close NASDAQ is up 2.0% since the close on the 4th to last trading day of June.

I just read Hope and I thought it was fantastic
..it was a nice change to focus on a more obscure character, and I think you showed him off well
My Clay Miller oneshot, I almost forgot about that one!
Thank you so much, dear! It was my first time writing for him, i felt like doing it despite I don't have much experience on the Friday 13 th. It's one of the slasher franchises i rewatch less, but I loved Clay in the 2009 remake.
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for telling me :)

look what she made me do (more like look what i did for her)
recently there was a contest held in spain where the prize was getting to go to nyc to @taylorswift‘s fan event next weekend and i, obviously, being the taylor swift fan that i am, entered the competition. it consisted of tweeting a picture accompanied by some text demonstrating “how much you love taylor” and i was like,,, okay i’m gonna go all the way with this, props and all. guess that wasn’t original enough.
however, because i did put two whole days of crafting and painting and making tshirts and buying stuff, i’d like to try to get taylor to see this? which sounds crazy difficult bcs i don’t even know how tumblr works properly but hey!! worth a try. so here’s the translated text and pictures i took for the contest + some pics showing how i made all the props.
the first song i ever heard by taylor was love story back in 2009 and although i didn’t want to admit it to myself at the time, i was immediately in love. i listened to it all the time. however it wasn’t until that summer that i really got into her music. it was thanks to my best friend at the time who made me watch the you belong with me music video and i was Amazed and spent the rest of the night listening to more of her songs and wondering to myself why i hadn’t looked her up sooner. this is why the first picture i chose to recreate was a scene from the you belong with me music video, because it’s still to this day very special to me since it’s the song that got me into listening to more of her music.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(i know it looks like i’m 15 i’m actually 21 i Promise)
i remember that christmas my parents got me fearless and the self-titled album and i asked for the platinum album later because it had 5 extra new songs and i Needed to listen to them, obviously. later on, i got my hands on a fearless tour dvd but it was from the us and i could only play it on my laptop rip europe (still no regrets i love that dvd to Death i cry every time)
2010 came along and i was already Really Excited about it. summer 2010 brought mine along with it and i remember mtv became a public channel in spain then and they had a few months where they were just testing it or sth and they just played music videos on repeat and for a while mine was one of them and i got so excited every time i saw it bcs my baby was on tv!!! i knew that music video by heart. that is why i decided to recreate the mine music video, it reminds me of a great, happier and more wholesome time in my life and it has a very special place in my heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(i hate my face why am i doing this)
i remember when it was close to the speak now release date and i asked my dad to go to my closest city’s music shop to order my copy of the album (they were always late anyway). then on a friday my dad picked me up from high school and brought me to my city to pick up the album before lunch. i remember so vividly when i opened the album and i got so excited about reading the prologue and learning what speak now or forever hold your peace meant (i’m obviously not a native speaker of english but i’ve always been fascinated by language and i’m currently about to finish my english degree). that same afternoon i put it in the car and i fell in love with every song. to this day it’s still my favourite album.
in 2011 she came to Madrid on tour so i asked my parents to Please take me even though i live in barcelona. they couldn’t come with me and i was still a minor so there was no way for me to see her. i still remember that march 19th, crying my eyes out because i couldn’t be there. i hated the fact i couldn’t be there even more when i got the tour dvd and it became my favourite concert without having been there.
It was 2012 when she made a liveshow announcing the next album being called Red and the release date and she played some songs for us and it was So Nice. i have to confess I was a bit scared bcs the sound was a bit different from speak now, especially wanegbt and ikywt but no!!! my girl doesn’t disappoint and the album was a masterpiece and i loved it. as always i ordered it in my city’s music store and luckily for me i was studying in the same city this time so during our twenty minute recess a friend and i went to the store every day for a week to check if they already had the album (talk about doing exercise). i was so hyped when i finally got it!!! i couldn’t choose just one favourite moment from this era so i just recreated a promotional picture for RED.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she did another tour with RED which didn’t include spain so seeing her was again not an option since i was still a minor and my parents didn’t want to travel so far for a concert. i was so sad and i promised myself next time i’d do whatever it took to see her live. the good thing about this tour was me discovering ed sheeran who is now my favourite male artist (thanks taylor ily)
in 2014 i started my first year of university, i chose to study english studies because i was good at english in school (that’s probably thanks to taylor in a way, i learned a lot from her songs). i moved close to barcelona for uni and started living with other students near campus. that Big Change in my life was accompanied with 1989 coming out and this was the first time i could actually have the album the same day it came out!!! i made my roommate come with me to barcelona to get it and she didn’t really get why it was so important to get the album the same day it came out but she still didn’t judge me and i’m so thankful for that. (thanks bea ily)
after the album came out she did her taylurking and even though i hate taking pictures of me especially if you can see my face, (which is why this whole thing is a Big Deal for me, putting pictures of myself out there is not easy), i tried to take pictures with the album and the pictures that came along with it and see if i was lucky enough to get her to see my face. fortunately, i got pictures 1-13 and i decided to take a picture with the 13th polaroid as a wink to her bcs it’s her favourite number. it was around 7pm when i gave up and soon i got a notification of her liking my picture on Instagram and I was like,,, screaming and crying already bcs What The Fuck did taylor alison swift see my face and still like the picture??? I was Dead. then she tweeted it and i just lost it. that meant a Lot to me. that’s why for 1989 i’ve recreated the 13th polaroid included in the album.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
taylor has been with me throughout my teens, during high school and all of university and i’m still here. i got so many memories of her throughout the years: listening to fifteen every year when the school year starts. doing a power point presentation on her even though it was supposed to be about my hobbies bcs listening to her music was practically the only thing i did lmao. listening to enchanted every time i meet an internet friend (some of whom i’ve met because of taylor, others have started listening to her after me insisting to give her a chance for Ages). listening to tied together with a smile when i feel down. reading twilight while listening to our song and the fallen series while listening to haunted. i remember listening to mary’s song (oh my my) for the first time and thinking it was the Purest, Most Beautiful song in the world. dance and sing in the shower with fearless and you belong with me. screaming the lyrics to the other side of the door and tell me why and should’ve said no. listening to breathe every time i have a fall out with someone. tweeting the last kiss lyrics every july 9th at 1:58. drawing a 13 on my hand constantly. listening to ours and falling in love with it, starting to listen to it in the mornings to start the day in a good mood. doing a heart with my hands whenever i go to concerts because that’s what i saw you do on tours (on dvds, sadly). i could go on and on.
i’m still here supporting, forever and always, and Ready for the new album and the new era that’s starting now. since we don’t have much material from this era yet, i’ve decided to recreate the gravestone in the look what you made me do music video and i put some snakes around it (a new symbol for this era) and the albums and dvds i own to symbolize the death of the old taylors as seen in the video.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it took me So Much Effort and Time to recreate all the pictures (buy the things i needed, make the ybwm tshirt myself with markers, make and paint the snakes, make the polaroid, the gravestone, and find places that more or less resembled the places where the original pictures were taken). i know i’m not a model and it’s not an exact recreation bcs there wasn’t much time to enter the contest but i hope all the details are appreciated and taken into account.
here are some pictures of me making the ybwm
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
here are some pictures of me making the tshirt taylor wears in the polaroid 13 (i didn’t have it so my sister drew me some birds and i put them on a tshirt I had and i wore a long sleeved white sweater underneath) and the making of the polaroid
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
here are some pictures of the snakes and the gravestone
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
after all this effort and time i still couldn’t get to win the contest and meet you in nyc next weekend @taylorswift but i hope you’ll see this and know how much i love you bcs i’m telling you i wouldn’t craft that much for anyone else lmao i usually suck at this. i truly tried my best this time and i’m devastated that even though i tried so hard my hard work didn’t pay off but i hope you come on tour to europe and i get to see you this time around, i’m already saving for the rep tour.
love love love

5 Horror Franchises We Hope Get A New Sequel (& 5 We Don't)
As seen with the new Halloween movies and producer Jordan Peele’s upcoming Candyman reboot, old-school horror movies getting long-delayed sequels is one of the genre’s biggest trends today. In doing so, horror series from yesteryear (or from just a few years ago) are given a second chance at life, to either give their overarching stories the ending they deserve or redeem themselves of shameful sequels that came before.
RELATED: 10 Movies To Watch If You Liked The Halloween Reboot
Seeing the likes of Michael Myers return to his murderous roots in Haddonfield brought a tear to many a horror fan’s eye, leaving them wondering who could be up next for a new sequel in the coming 2020s. Without further ado, here are 5 horror franchises that need a new sequel, plus 5 more that should be left in the past for different reasons.
10 Needs a Sequel: The Real Leprechaun
Tumblr media
In 2018, the Leprechaun came back in Leprechaun Returns. Normally, this would be reason to celebrate among Lep’s fans, but there was one big problem: Lep wasn’t portrayed by Warwick Davis.
Davis’ goofiness and enthusiasm made the Leprechaun series a cult favorite despite Lep having two questionable sequels already, and the newest entry lacks this charm. Now that long-delayed horror sequels are the trend, there’s no better time for Davis to properly conclude Lep’s saga.
9 Doesn’t Need a Sequel: Paranormal Activity
Tumblr media
Found footage movies have been around for a long time, but Paranormal Activity arguably made the popularity of the concept explode. The first movie’s surprise success led to five sequels, all of which diminished in quality with each passing entry. Not only is the Paranormal Activity series floundering, but found footage has fallen out of favor.
RELATED: 5 Awesome Found Footage Horror Movies (& 5 That Don't Work)
With few exceptions, these low-budget movies have been exposed as lazy cash grabs that are indistinguishable from one another. There are rumors of a seventh Paranormal Activity, but maybe it’s better for this fad to fade away, beginning with the one that started it all.
8 Needs a Sequel: The Original Child’s Play
Tumblr media
The case of the Child’s Play movies is a strange one. The original run is still ongoing and will be followed up in an upcoming series, and it still got a reboot this year that’s bound to spawn some sequels.
The reboot has its strengths and merits, but its mere existence runs the risk of rudely overshadowing a beloved long-running story that has yet to end. The events of Cult of Chucky ended on an inspired cliffhanger where Charles Lee Ray is free once more, and his killing spree deserves a proper conclusion before a new generation takes over.
7 Doesn’t Need a Sequel: Jeepers Creepers
Tumblr media
One of the few original and recognized horror franchises of the 2000s is Jeepers Creepers, a trilogy (at the moment) about a flying cannibal who awakes every 23 years.
Jeepers Creepers 3 was so poorly made and received that it killed any interest in the sequel it was building up to. The third movie was mostly filler with watered-down kills, lacking its predecessors’ dread. It's one of those franchises that seemed to lose its momentum, and that's a very difficult thing to recover from.
6 Needs a Sequel: Hellraiser
Tumblr media
The production cycle of the Hellraiser movies is a mess. With the exception of the first two movies, the Hellraiser series has almost no involvement from its creator Clive Barker. The celebrated horror author wrote the first two films and even directed the original, but lost creative control of anything after that.
To say the sequels missed the point of Barker’s vision is an understatement, as they degraded his uniquely Gothic vision into typical slasher gore. A return to form is reportedly in the works, thankfully with Barker back in the fold.
5 Doesn’t Need a Sequel: The Amityville Horror(s)
Tumblr media
Believe it or not, there was an Amityville movie released in 2018
a year after another Amityville movie opened in 2017 following years’ worth of delays. The Amityville movies went from being decent haunted house fare to becoming a clichĂ© of their own.
RELATED: The Best Haunted House Movies Of All Time
These movies are always about a hapless family moving into the legendarily spooky house, only for them to get spooked on and killed later. Unless a team of visionary filmmakers takes control, Amityville movies are probably better left dormant in their grave of cinematic obscurity.
4 Needs a Sequel: The Evil Dead
Tumblr media
Unlike most horror properties, The Evil Dead  boasts a good original franchise and a well-made reboot. The Evil Dead remake may be a bit more serious than expected, but it deserves a follow-up after director Fede Alvarez showed what he’s capable of.
Meanwhile, the original The Evil Dead trilogy continued in Ash vs. Evil Dead, which was canceled after three seasons. Ash Williams’ story closed with an open enough ending, but it still feels a bit lacking. Whether it’s through a crossover with the new generation or a definitive final chapter, Ash deserves a proper last hurrah.
3 Doesn’t Need a Sequel: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Tumblr media
The horror of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre lies in how little is known about Leatherface and his cannibalistic clan, yet the franchise keeps on adding prequels and reboots that needlessly reveal their backstories. In this series’ case, it has to stop churning out origin stories and restarts no one asked for.
RELATED: 10 True-Crime Movies That Will Keep You Up At Night
If anything, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre needs more sequels because it’s known for making some of the strangest follow-ups in horror history. Given the film-makers’ obsession with exploring Leatherface’s childhood, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll get something as amazingly weird as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 again.
2 Needs a Sequel: Friday the 13th
Tumblr media
Unlike most other horror reboots of the 2000s, the new Friday the 13thwas actually good, if not great. It breathed life into Jason Voorhees and introduced the classic slasher killer to a new generation, properly modernizing his myth in ways that the futuristic guilty pleasure Jason X failed.
A sequel (or another reboot) has been in the works since 2009, but the series’ legal battles bogged everything to a screeching halt. The modern horror genre is in dire need of some good old fashioned slasher fun, which is something Jason can provide.
1 Doesn’t Need a Sequel: A Nightmare on Elm Street
Tumblr media
If Friday the 13thdid its job in 2009, A Nightmare on Elm Street failed catastrophically in 2010. Despite Jackie Earle Haley’s best efforts as the new Freddy Kruger, the Elm Street remake was a dull retread that lacked any of the franchise’s signature horror, creativity, and fun.
There are rumors of another remake, but thankfully, New Line Cinema is occupied with The Conjuring movies. Also, as iconic as he is, Freddy – a shape-shifting killer who preys on fearful children – has been somewhat usurped by the new Pennywise in the IT movies, making his return all the more unlikely.

“Baywatch” (2017)
Action/Comedy
Running Time: 116 minutes
Written by: Mark Swift & Damian Shannon
Directed by: Seth Gordon
Featuring:  Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Jon Bass and Ilfenesh Hadera
Mitch Buchannon: “Welcome to Baywatch. Our team is the elite of the elite. We’re the heart and soul of this very beach. We protect when other people don’t want to protect, and we go above and beyond.”
The assault on the idea concept of comedy in movies continues with the release of the remake or reboot or whatever you want call this comedy abomination that is “Baywatch” (2017) out this week on DVD & Blu-ray.
Now I wouldn’t have said this movie was doomed from its announcement, especially with the early word that Dwayne Johnson was involved, someone who is not afraid to laugh at himself as well as carry a movie that needs some very big shoulders to support it. Its unfortunate then that the studio that released this, Paramount, decided to stick Johnson with a director as well as screenwriters that seem to have no clue to what they are working on. They also seem to have no idea on how to use their secret weapon, who is normally a charmer as well as someone who can deliver almost any kind of dialogue all while inviting the audience to come with him on some kind of journey – here however none of that works, so we have what must be one of the worst movies of the year so far, along with many other comedies that have missed the mark by a mile.
The movie starts out in Emerald Bay, Florida, Lt. Mitch Buchannon and his team of lifeguards, including second-in-commmand Stephanie Holden and veteran C. J. Parker, protect the beaches and the bay as part of an elite division known as Baywatch. Having made over 500 rescues in his career, Mitch is beloved by the community, to the annoyance of local beat cop Garner Ellerbee and Mitch’s superior, Captain Thorpe.
At the upcoming tryouts for new lifeguards, three people stand out: surfer Summer Quinn, an old friend of Holden’s, Ronnie, a chubby nerd with a crush on C. J. (that is gradually returned), and Matt Brody, a former Olympic swimmer who fell from grace after vomiting during a race and now has to perform community service as part of an unspecified plea deal. Quinn and Ronnie both pass the trials, but Brody refuses to do so and insists that his celebrity status alone entitles him to a place on the team. Despite Brody demonstrating his abilities by assisting in the rescue of a drowning woman and her son, Mitch complains to Thorpe that he is unfit. Thorpe, in turn, insists that rehabilitating his image is necessary to convince the city not to further cut Baywatch’s funding.
From here the plot if you could call it that becomes needlessly complicated as well as extremely crass, as it stands for no really good reason.
I have complained about the lack of good comedies that have been released this year, and “Baywatch” has to top the list of not only being humourless, but it even manages to mishandle the action elements that may have saved this from being extremely tiresome to watch – I watched this at home and found myself hoping for the end to come, it meandered from one tireless set up to the next without seeming to go anywhere at all. My feeling was that no-one really committed to a genre so each aspect of this movie is underwhelming.
Normally any movie, especially one that relies on personality or has to because the plot is absent, that has at its center Dwayne Johnson, is already ahead because he is just so charismatic as well as being able to make fun of himself means that he can be on the audiences side as well as being in on the joke. One need only look at the “Fast and Furious” franchise to see he is one of the only actors actually hamming it up, making those dreadful movies bearable for those of us that like the over the top nature that is inherent within those movies. “Baywatch” the movie, has not earned that so we are just looking at Johnson as part of this film not apart from it. The supporting cast is made up of both experienced as well as newish actors that all come off as one note and not appealing at all. So we have Alexandra Daddario, Zac Efron and Priyanka Chopra struggling with a plot as well as trope filled exposition while appearing alongside newbies Kelly Rohrbach, Jon Bass and Ilfenesh Hadera really not coming to terms with the kind of movie they are in as well as having very little actual screen presence.
The argument could be made that there was a similar situation with the original television show with some experienced actors as well as some very average novice actors. My argument against that, as well as illustrating the superiority of the television version is that it was a different time, 1989 to 1999, the show knew exactly what it was and the talent in front of the camera was vastly superior to the people we have now. Here is some of the talent involved in the series and its an easy argument with time on our side that these actors have at least more talent as well as huge screen presence than that of this poorly attempted translation, we have of course David Hasselhoff, Parker Stevenson, Billy Warlock, David Chavert, Alexandra Paul, Erika Eleniak, Pamela Stevenson and many many others. If there was a small percentage of their presence in this movie it would have been a far better watch.
Its not only in front of the camera where mistakes have been made, the writers (which is a generous title), Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, have only had two somewhat other successes, if they could be called that, which were the middling horror re-imagining (I am being kind) “Friday the 13th” (2009) and “Freddy vs. Jason” (2003). Both of these movies are genre pieces and are just updating other people’s work, which may have been the appeal here, but sadly there is nothing they have added to “Baywatch” to even make it remotely interesting. So it is here where the director should make some decisions to enhance what is a lackluster script, but this is where the inexperience of Seth Gordon shows. Sure he had a hit with “Horrible Bosses” (2011) but misfired with “Identity Thief” (2013) then in between has directed a lot of comedy televison which means he was trying to learn how to direct narrative on the fly, which again shows here in this movie, where he was probably stuck between his script his producers as well as his actors – I am not envious because what we have been left with is a mess of a film both narratively as well as plot wise with an inconsistent tone as well as a R-rating slapped on to make it seem edgy – which it is not.
The filmmakers needed to pick a tone and style then follow through on that, I can see why they chose some kind of action/comedy route, which worked well with the redo and big screen adaptation of the hit “Starsky and Hutch” (2009) but there you had writers, a director and most importantly stars who could handle the material and knew not only what they were doing but also what they were doing. This is yet another misfire from the studio Paramount who have not been able to buy a hit this year and the slate for the rest of the year looks dire as well.
This is definitely not worth a purchase and to be honest even if you could watch this free it is unlikely you would enjoy it; in fact if you watched it on a plane you would not be forgiven for walking out.
“Baywatch” is out on DVD & blu-ray now.
