Cave fish time!!
Cryptotora thamicola or the waterfall climbing cave fish are extremely rare, found in only eight caves on the border of Thailand and Myanmar. Like most cave fish they are blind and pigmentless but what makes them special is there ability to cling to walls and climb up flowing water.

Although it had rained for most of the night, the clouds began to clear as the next day dawned, and by the time Algy had finished his hearty breakfast of fruit, nuts and seeds, the sun was shining once again, albeit intermittently.
It was a cool morning with a great deal of dampness suspended in the atmosphere, but there was a pleasant, invigorating freshness in the autumn air which inspired a fluffy bird to seek new adventures. However, Algy felt worried.
In the past few days he had heard from some of his friends that they were feeling excessivley hot. Determined to look into the matter further, Algy had engaged in a wee bit of research and discovered that the south-western United States, for example, was suffering an unprecedented heatwave… in October! He was truly flabbergasted to learn that the thermometers over there were reading well over 40℃ in many places… Algy had never in his life experienced heat of that kind, and sincerely hoped that he never would!
Of course the chances of such temperatures on the wild west coast of the Scottish Highlands were slim to say the least. The few hot days that Algy could remember just barely reached 30℃, and this year the thermometer had struggled to reach 20℃ at any time, even at the height of the summer.
He had to concede that the West Highlands did perhaps err a wee bit too far the other way when it came to temperature, but one thing in which the area undoubtedly excelled was the supply of fresh water. There was water, water everywhere, and many a drop to drink… In the thousands of burns, in the lochans, in the peat bogs, and in the great freshwater lochs – even in common or garden rivers – there was truly an abundance of good, fresh water. And in the odd moments when it was not actually falling out of the sky, the water continued to tumble down the hillsides and wind its way across moorland and bog until it reached the sea… where it didn't stop to rest, but started the cycle all over again.
So Algy had more than enough water to spare for all his friends, and a great deal of clean, cool, refreshing air besides, but there was just one wee technical hitch… how to send "Earth's loveliset daughter" across thousands of miles of ocean and land, to where she was needed most?
Even if he could fly that far – which frankly he doubted – the amount of water he could carry was very, very small, and although he could perhaps elicit the help of his local feathered friends, the quantity would still be woefully inadequate.
Algy decided that there was only one possible solution. He would have to send the water in the form of photographs, in the hope that when it reached his friends in faraway places it would be realeased as the real thing in a magical process which reversed the way in which it had been captured in the first place 😀
So without further ado, Algy set out on a special mission to find plenty of water to send to any and all of his friends – and indeed strangers – who might be in need, together with a good, healthy dose of cool, fresh Scottish air besides…
The Sun courted Water, Earth's loveliest daughter, And strove to abduct her in vain: For, when he had caught her, And to the clouds brought her, Home she came running in rain.
[Algy is quoting the poem A Sunstroke by the 19th poet (also professor of literature and Roman Catholic priest!) John B. Tabb.]

So often in myth there's a quest to find the Water of Life hidden away in some obscure Fountain of Youth or Tuck Everlasting-style pool. And it'll be this closely guarded secret that only a few people ever know about: a finite resource.
But what's so beautiful is that in Narnia, there's a whole ocean of it. The Water of Life is boundless and infinite. It's all you can see in every direction. You are literally floating in it.
#i say it fits the mythological Water of Life archetype bc the old men begin to grow younger#a sea of grace#and it tastes like light#living water#fresh water#not salt#not from a well#pure drinkable water and it changes you and there's an /ocean/ of it#it will never run dry#i could wax poetic about the sweet water in narnia forever#and the connection with living water#ahhhhhhhhhhhh#Narnia#into light#pontifications and creations

Mijoda Dajomi, "Daughters of Rain"
The headwear, designed to capture and store rainwater, serves as a speculative response to a future where water becomes an increasingly scarce resource.
The collection encapsulates the duality of fashion and function. Crafted from waxed cotton, a fabric donated by luxury brand Barbour, and further treated with organic beeswax.
This hat is designed to be both stylish and sustainable. Its leather-like appearance and sturdy construction allow it to capture up to 5 liters of rainwater while being worn.
Dajomi’s choice of materials ensures that the hat not only repels water but also effectively collects and retains it without leaks.
The primary purpose of her work is to provoke thought, raise awareness, and spark conversation about our relationship with water and the environment. This ethos is woven into the very fabric of the collection, which draws inspiration from the attire of lay sisters – women dedicated to charity and social causes.
Just as these sisters united in their mission, the Daughters of Rain are imagined as a future collective that serves their communities by managing and distributing the vital resources of rainwater.

In the Mario x Mermaid AU the mer-folk are are salt water creatures, which means that they will get sick, even badly injured, if they come into contact with fresh water.
This is based on the real world concept of saltwater fish being unable to survive in freshwater, and vice versa.
So four things to note:
1. Even just a small drop of freshwater on a mer-person's skin will give them an irritated burning sensation, and their scales to become inflamed and swollen. Luckily, if the contact is not too long or severe, they just need to dip the affected area in salt water and it's all good 👍
2. When Mario becomes a human for the first time, he is not exactly a full human. Kammy is able to give him legs and take away his mer-magic, but she deliberately left some of his mer traits within him. This means that, to his horror, he finds he cannot come into any contact with fresh water, or risk giving away his secret! Luckily Luigi is on hand to assist at certain points.
3. One idea for a scene I'm cooking up is that Mario gets interrogated by the kitchen staff, asking where he's from and who he is. One of the staff gets way too close with some water, and Mario is overwhelmed and tries to get them to leave him alone. Luigi sees this from his hiding place outside, and quickly uses his mer-magic (electricity) to short circuit the palace from the outside and cause a black out. Mario takes this opportunity to run away, where he runs outside to thank his bro and figure out a plan!
4. Mario does find that he can work around this fresh water business by adding salt to it anytime he needs to bathe or drink.
(I'm pretty sure that's not how it works but hey - it is a fantasy - and it's not unlikely that Mario will still feel a bit sick, due to it not being proper salt water - but it's a temporary solution!)
#someghing interesting I figured I'd add#also yes I did also get a bit inspired by luca#super mario#mario#luigi#mario movie#the super mario bros movie#super mario movie#salt watee#fresh water#mermaids#mermaid au#mer mario#mer luigi

Coldwave in my understanding
So, I want to tell about my way of understanding of genre coldwave. Coldwave, gothic. As I understand it. In terms, of I trying to learn music instruments – bass guitar, electrocutor, synthesizer.
In my vision of this direction, there is no need to be a goth. And to be a depressive too. As in one interview someone said from Dreadful Shadows – If you have a depression. Then you will never do any music at all. You will be very busy with other things, and not with music. It is such a music. Such a mood. Answering the question. And do you need to be a depressive to play gothic rock in different its ways.
For me music of cold wave. It is such a mood. Something similar. As to sit a little in a shadow. In a cold shadow. In a hot summer day. There is hot and summer at the street. And you are siting in a shadows of the trees. To climb deep into the trees. In a small forest. And it is little cold there. It is wind with cold. And little dark.
In this terms ideal is a track Clan Of Xymox – Climate Change from album Matters of Mind, Body and Soul. It is a very long title. Strange front cover. But darker part of it I like. They have strange front covers. And album itself I like a lot. Album makes on me a big impression at those times. And as a thing, I like a lot this song – Climate Change. It is ideal descriptions what is gothic and cold wave. In my vision.
Wind is blowing. Cold. A little cold outside. It is dark as darker part of front cover. And it is like in a hot day. When it is stands a hot summer. You are turn on air conditioner. Or take a little fresh and cold. Such a contrast.
Also, I want to mark and a first album Sisters of Mercy – First and last and Always. Dark and interesting. In a shadows, in a fog such visual. It has very interesting sound, mysterious. And also, I want to mark their glam moment – album Floodland. And also, a movement into heavy metal. But it is still in gothic. As I start, I will finish with Dreadful Shadows. With their song Dead Can Wait. And a song from album Buried Again. Such a rock and atmosphere, gothic tracks like Dusk. I like this track a lot. I want to finish with some strings as I remember them by memory, from one of the songs from this disc. As I get it, my own. Very my own.
When winter comes
We all waiting for the sun
Iced breath of a shining flower

This is a RANT
we have a fresh water problem
youtube
I remeber learning this in school 5 years ago 😭
Most of this is because of industrial agriculture and pollution (by big companies)
So in OUR life time we will have a shortage of fresh water if we can't do anything ( my little cousin was literally born a year ago)
have been working on increasing the rate that plastic decomposes at since we do know about 300,000 types of enzymes that can decomposes 10 types of plastic which could help with the plastic waste in the water
The fact that climate change is like one of our biggest problems and we do already have methods of reducing it and it isn't like top priority is crazyyy
PETase and MHETase have been proven to break down plastics into it's chemical (so no longer plastic) compents thst can be used to either remake into other useful materials like medicine this is done by oxygenating the tight bond that plastics molecules have (in simple words)
If we can't fix the world there are still ways to reduce the damage done making it livable
Parengyodontium album
Engyodontium album
Aspergillus terreus
These were found by the university of Sydney by Amira Farzana samar and Ali Abbas
Annika Vaksmaa at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research
And many other scientific research facilities WE HAVE HOPE BUT WHAT WE NEED ARE PEOPLE TO SPREAD THE WORD
#WE LITERALLY HAVE WAYS OF SAVING THE PLANET THIS SHOULD BE A PRIORITY#save the earth#water shortage#fresh water#eco conscious#WE NEED TO HOLD BIG CORPORATIONS ACCOUNTABLE
