Newcrest Fresh Start - Weeks 13 and 14

For week 13 of the Newcrest Fresh Start Scheme we're catching up with Avery, Kit and Baron. When we last saw the family Avery had started to establish their vet practice and had built a small clinic, though they were all still bunking up in what will be the staff room.

During the weeks we've been away Kit has aged from a child to a teenager, but he still loves animals, especially dogs.

If Avery can officially register their practice with the Sims Municipal Committee during the next two weeks then other Newcrest residents can keep their own pets and animals, which will help the Green Family register their farm.

Avery makes a quick decision to invest in a second second hand vet podium and hire Zoe Patel as an extra vet at the practice. Zoe is great with the client and Avery soon gives her a promotion. Avery also spends some of their spare time crafting treats, as they are a good earner, but it's a struggle to keep up with customer demand.

Now that Kit is a teenager he has a bit more in common with his neighbour Tristram Green. The pair both enjoy being outside and fishing, so they become friends pretty quickly. Avery and Kit drop by the farm to celebrate Spring Festival.

Spring also brings Love Day and Avery thinks this is a their chance to get closer to Xochitl. Unfortunetely despite Avery being as charming and flirty as possible, their crush has cooled off her affections. Maybe they'd be better off as friends. Kit, on the other hand, manages to score his first kiss with his classmate.

At the start of Summer kit gets an invite to take part in the Hunger Trials. He excitedly accepts and spends a couple of days away fighting for this life.

Whilst he is away Avery finds that running their growing vet clinic is not always smooth sailing. The place is regularly covered in more puke than they can handle, clients become too comfortable using the amenities and Zoe gets easily distracted playing with Baron on her break.

Things get so stressful Avery even has a couple of terrifying episodes of body horror.

Avert hires a second extra vet, Kasum Bun Ma, to ease the pressure a bit. This means there is always someone free to keep the floors vomit free, everyone gets some free time during their shift and Avery can keep the merchandise fridge stocked with treats.

This means that Avery makes enough daily profit to really start expanding their vert practice. They can invest in some newer equipment, update the furniture in the clinic and buy a full dog training course.

They still have to update their surgery and crafting station, but by Thursday they have enough amenities to officially register with the Sims Municipal Council, meaning their community will be able to keep their own pets and animals.

A busy Friday and Saturday also means they finish the week with a fully built clinic, with the frame of the two bedroom flat upstairs. Their home still needs furnishing and the outdoor space needs landscaping but Avery has made some amazing progress.

What’s new in this update?:

Ciudad Enamorada and Ravenwood have been completely redone, added multiple new lots, updated other lots and provided make-overs for the households.

Added new households (when living in world; with jobs, friends, preferences etc).

Komorebi, Henford-on-Bagley, Tartosa, Moonwood Mill, Copperdale, San Sequoia, Chestnut Ridge, Tomarang, Ciudad Enamorada (NEW!) and Ravenwood (NEW!).

Finished vacation worlds: Granite Falls and Selvadorada.

Finihed other lots: Hospital, Science Lab and the Police Station.

What do you get with this save?:

For my save file all lots are either completely new builds (almost all) or renovations, ofcourse created by me. Exception: I have added the official build for the release of the Paranormal SP by Dr Ashley to this save. This build is therefore not my own creation, credits are given in the description to Dr Ashley. The lots in newer worlds are largely created by GameChangers. The ratio is around 50/50 with my builds versus renovations (done by me but with the original as the base).

All the townies had make-overs plus I added new families to spice it up a bit. Some of the townies are made by other creators, who are given credits in the description of the household. All the townies in the different worlds have a story, some include sentiments and adjusted relationships to the story.

Added plenty of community lots to give your Sims something to do (YAY!). Almost every world has one restaurant, but it also includes festivals that represent the four seasons (park lots) and a fully functional shopping street in Magnolia Promenade (toy store, bridal store and more).

I have added rental lots so you can go on vacation in more worlds. For example in Sulani, Willow Creek and Windenburg.

Other details:

As mentioned at the beginning, this save uses almost all packs (except some kits). This means that if you download it without owning or installing most of the packs a lot of objects will disappear from the save, but if you are not bothered by this you can still download and play in it.  

I disabled the neigborhood action plan voting/environmental changes, you enable them again in the pack settings menu. I also disabled the neigborhood stories, you can enable them again in the household menu.

I would love to add some households in this save created by all of you! Add your household under the hashtag #fleuraliatownies in The Sims 4 Gallery, you can add a storyline and world in the description but thats not obligatory. If I respond on your creation it means that I have incorporated it in the save for the next update.

Sadly every game update comes with a lot of bugs. I suggest before reporting problems in the save to me, to check on forums if its related to a general bug/glitch or to mods (if you use them).

As said in my previous post I will be slowly starting on moving the builds and sims to a fresh save to help with bugs and incorporate fixes from the Sims team that only work in fresh saves (like Grimm not being able to woohoo). How to make it work in your game:

Download the save file from the link below.

Drag it in your saves folder under: PC/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/saves.

Change the numbers if you already have a save with the same name.

It should now show up in your game as: Fleuralia Save V 8.0.

I am so excited to be releasing my first sims 4 save-file!

This is version 1.0 which is a redo of Newcrest! There are also lots completed for Willow Creek, but that world is incomplete and will be updated in a future version.

Disclaimer: I own all of the DLC, and have used them throughout the builds and households. You can still download this without all of the DLC, but some items may be missing and need to be replaced. (I went back and forth on this, but ultimately my community said to just go for it).

No Mods/CC Required

There are 9 households living in Newcrest, with other households in Willow Creek and Not in World to populate the world. 

For console players, all of the lots and households are available on the sims 4 gallery. My id: simgraze

The downtown area of Newcrest is very sims 3 inspired, with many of the buildings taking influence from Sunset Valley. You can find the Doo Peas Corporate building for all of your freelance sims to visit. Check out the Sunset Plaza shops, including a gym, grocery store, bookstore, and thrift store. Get political at Town Hall and meet Mayor Avanche, who may be engaged in a lively debate. Have drinks at Waylon's Sports Bar, or grab dinner at the Sims 3 Bistro, or the run-down diner next door.

With plenty of drama, and 3 lots ready for your sims to move into, Newcrest is a great place for sims of all ages who are looking for a fresh start.

In terms of future updates, Willow Creek and San Myshuno are both in the works. I have no idea when they will be released, but I definitely want to release those updates at some point.

(Not Required, but what I use). The only mods that I recommend in terms of keeping sims in your neighborhood is Home Regions by Kuttoe. I like messing with my settings so that only sims from Willow Creek and Newcrest will populate my world.

Life suddenly looks very different...

A few months have passed since Nadine and Keegans divorce. She is now living in San Myshuno with the kids and Rakesh preparing for the baby and a future restaurant. The kids stay with their Dad every couple of days in Newcrest and then return to San Myshuno for school. Nadine wanted a fresh start so Keegan kept the house and she took the rental while they split the simoleons down the middle. Keegan is working on being amicable with Nadine for the kids since he blows a lid every time he sees her.

As someone who loves the Sims 3 lepacy challenge, I thought I would create one for The Sims 4. I’m aware there is one already made by annaliesembsims on Tumblr but it didn’t fit the criteria I was looking for in the challenge. Their challenge looks wonderful, I just play a little differently. Thanks to both the sims 3 lepacy creator and annaliesembsims! If you see any similarities below, all credit goes to them. Let’s get into the basics!

This is an expansion pack only lepacy challenge. You don’t need to add any game packs, stuff packs, or kits unless you want to. ***Personally, whenever I start a new gen I will also be downloading the game packs and stuff packs that came out that same year.

Unless specified, your sim may have any traits or aspirations you wish.

Generation 1 (Base Game)

You need a fresh start. What’s better than packing everything you own and moving to a completely new town? You move to this new town lost and confused about your future. Somehow, you get a job even though you have no degree or credentials! While your job is tolerable, you’re mainly missing having friends and hobbies and a lover. Now’s the time to do all of those things with your new way of life!

Must live in one of the three base game worlds (Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, or Newcrest)

Must have a base game job

Must have at least 3 friends

Max two skills

Must complete a base game aspiration

Must get married to a townie

Have at least 2 kids

Generation 2 (Get to Work)

You always admired your parents but saw how they both dreaded going to work every day. You want to work in a field you’re passionate about. As a kid you always dreamed of being the big boss, whether that be as a doctor, scientist, detective, or business owner. Time to get to workin’!

Move to one of the other worlds from Base Game (or Get to Work)

Must become a doctor, scientist, detective, or own your own business

If you chose a career, you must reach level 10

If you chose owning a business, you must earn at least 25,000 simoleons before the end of the generation

Max skills needed for job

Marry a coworker (or customer) and eventually get divorced

Have only 1 child

Make sure your child maxes all skills from infant-child and reaches all of their aspiration goals before becoming a young adult

Generation 3 (Get Together)

The rumors of Windenburg’s parties have lured you to the scenic town. You still talk to your parents but are trying to distance yourself as they pressure you to settle down and get a consistent job.

Must have one of the traits from Get Together (dance machine or insider)

Must have the Leader of the Pack aspiration and complete it

Must max out dancing and DJing skills

Must have at least one kid (if you want multiple then they can not share the same father/mother)

Generation 4 (City Living)

Your parent showed you how to live life in an exhilarating way! While you enjoyed staying up late and eating junk food and basically having no rules your entire life, you also craved the stability that never came. Moving to San Myshuno always intrigued you but you knew you would never be able to afford it on your own. But, wait! Your best friend wants to leave Windenburg too! Isn’t that just dandy?

Live in San Myshuno with at least one roommate

Must have the Unflirty or Vegetarian trait

Must have the City Native aspiration and completed

Must get married to roommate 

Go to every festival

Become a critic, politician, or social media influencer, or singing “career” and max the job

If you chose the “singing” career just make sure you can make livable wages

Growing up you had to deal with the hustle and bustle of city life. Everything was cramped, busy, and packed. There wasn’t even enough room for a pet. You saw an ad on Simtube about Brindleton Bay one day and ever since then, you have dreamed of living there. The fresh air, the pets, all of it sounds so enticing!

Live in Brindleton Bay

Own a cat and dog

Have a litter of kittens or puppies

Become a vet and max the skill

Max the pet training skill

Have the cat lover or dog lover trait

Have the Friend of the Animals aspiration and complete it

Get married and have three kids

Optional: Have a simstagram for your pet

Generation 6 (Seasons)

Living in Brindleton Bay all of your life was great, except for the rain (listen…i know this isn’t technically right because you aren’t supposed to have seasons until your sims are young adults but work with me lol). While Brindleton Bay had all four seasons, you still felt it lacked something because of all of the rain. Time to move!

Live in any world except Brindleton Bay

Experience a holiday (whatever holiday you want) in each season

Rely only on beekeeping and flower arrangement for an income (feel free to have a florist shop)

Max flower arranging and skating skills

Have at least one aspiration reward trait from seasons

Declare favorite season/weather

Get married to someone who has the opposition declaration 

Have as many kids as you want but each child must max the scouting activity

Generation 7 (Get Famous)

Small town life never intrigued you. You thought everyone was boring, the town you grew up in was boring, and nothing interested you. Except being famous. You would stay up late watching Simtube and meticulously rating movies on Letter Box and obsessing over your favorite celebrities. Now that you’re a young adult you’re free to do whatever you want! Time to move to Del Sol Valley!

Live in Del Sol Valley

Have the self-absorbed trait

Have either the World Famous Celebrity aspiration or the Master Actor and complete it

Become an actor or influencer 

Max either the acting skill or media production skill

Have a pristine or atrocious reputation

Reach max celebrity level

Marry another celebrity

Have as many kids as you want but each kid has to be into the drama club

Generation 8 (Island Living)

Growing up with famous parents and being forced to go to red carpets, join the drama club, and having to deal with paparazzi has run you down and you just want to live life alone in peace. Sulani seems like the perfect place for rest and relaxation.

Attend all Sulani festivals (Don’t know when they happen? Try this mod!)

Have at least 5 friends

Marry a townie

Have 4 kids (make sure at least one child maxs all skills from infant-child and completes all of their aspirations from child-teen and gets A’s throughout entire schooling career)

Now that you’re a young adult, you can meet that need in University!

Get accepted into Britechester or Foxbury institute and live in the world

Have the academic aspiration and complete it

Max the research and debate skill or the robotics skill

Join an afterschool activity or an organization (secret society counts for an organization)

Achieve all A’s

Throw one party per semester

Once graduated, live anywhere you wish

End up having a job as an educator, law, or engineer

Have a college sweetheart and get married

Have as many kids as you want

Once you have graduated and joined a career, cheat on your spouse and get divorced

Your parents' love of knowledge has worn off on you, but for the worse. You are riddled with the knowledge of capitalism and its destruction of the planet. Evergreen Harbor has been on the news, specifically because of the pollution. Finally, you have had enough of just sitting around. You want to make a change! 

Live in Evergreen Harbor

Make sure every neighborhood in Evergreen Harbor has a green eco footprint

Have the freegan, green fiend, maker, or recycle disciple trait

Have the eco innovator or master maker aspiration and complete it

Max the civil designer job

Max the gardening, fabrication, or juice making skill

Generation 11 (Snowy Escape)

Since your parent was obsessed with nature and eco footprints, you spent a lot of time outside. This aided in your need for excitement and thrill. You were always at the playground and hanging out at the quarry. Now, you want to take your need for thrill to the next level in Mt. Komorebi!

Live in Mt. Komorebi

Visit all festivals

Have the adventurous or proper trait

Max the rock climbing, skiing, or snowboarding skill

Complete the extreme sports enthusiast or mt. komorebi sightseer aspiration

Have the salaryperson job (you don’t have to max this as it’s not your goal)

Visit all neighborhoods and complete some activities (meeting Yamachan in Wakaba, nature walk in Senbamachi, snowy activities in Yukimatsu, etc)

Marry a sim that has the same thrill for excitement and is mastering another skill you did not choose

Generation 12 (Cottage Living)

Mt. Komorebi is where your heart lies but you wish you lived more in the country. You have always loved animals but you can’t really own a cow when you live in the middle of town! You made a penpal in Henford-on-Bagley and they have convinced you to move there.

Have the animal enthusiast or lactose intolerant trait

Have the country caretaker aspiration and complete it

Max the cross stitch skill or the cooking skills (if you choose to go into canning things)

Have a barn, coop, and farm on your lot

Generation 14 (Growing Together)

Each kid must reach all of the milestones and have their own aspirations (and complete them) and traits (no repetition)

Must have a baby shower, family reunion, and sleepover at some point

Must visit recreation center often

Must have midlife crisis and do it (except the divorce one)

Generation 15 (Horse Ranch)

Your parents let you have your own personalities and lives as you grew and you turned out to be a horse girl/boy! Congrats! San Sequoia lacked horses and equestrian activities. But, just a little bit east, is the town of Chestnut Ridge! Known for their horses, square dancing, and wine making, this town sounds just down right perfect for you.

Master the riding and nectar making traits

Have at least 2 horses who makes their skills

Generation 16 (For Rent)

Living in a small town where one of your parents was more concerned with their horses than you and the other one being dead has left you feeling a little lost. You crave the sense of a close knit family and friendship. You went on a trip in high school to Tomarang and loved every moment of it. Ever since you got back from that trip, you have thought about Tomarang. Now that you’re a young adult and can make your own choices you have decided to leave your parent to Chestnut Ridge in search of your own belonging in Tomarang.

Live in Tomarang

Have the nosy, generous, or child of the village trait (once you are an elder you need the wise trait)

Either become a property owner or have the part time handyperson job

If you are a property owner you need to decide if you want pristine living conditions where you have the highest ratings or the worst landlord known to man and achieve that goal

If you go into the part-time job you need to make sure you have at least 5 friends

Marry a townie and max your friendship with all of their family members

Have a pool party and potluck at some point

You must live with your spouse’s family

Have at least two kids

You need to have the seeker of secrets, five-star property owner, fount of Tomarani knowledge, or discerning dweller aspiration and complete it

“I can’t believe you’re 20,” Rebecca exclaimed over breakfast, smiling. “My baby’s all grown up.”

Giselle blushed. “Mama.”

She waved her hand. “Let me baby my youngest child.”

“Has any mail from Byron arrived?”

“Yes, actually. An early post from this morning. He says he’s sad that he missed your birthday, but apparently, he’s been invited to spend the summer at his friends’ family manor.”

“My brother the social climber,” she muttered. “Are those the oil socialites he befriended in the war?”

“I believe so.” She frowned. “I hope they don’t think he’s using them.”

“Why would you think that?”

“He’s not rich, and nor is he part of that community. He’s told us countless times that he sticks out like a sore thumb.”

“Well, that’s his choice.”

Rebecca frowned. “Perhaps. I wonder if they know about his inheritance.”

“Likely not. Byron ran away from his responsibilities.” Giselle wouldn’t deny that she wasn’t jealous of her brother, able to run away to another continent, but she also thought he was a coward, abandoning his family in the face of death and loss. He couldn’t escape fate, even if he was an ocean away. 

“Giselle. Don’t be bitter.”

“You’re not?”

She sighed. “All I can hope is that he realizes that he belongs with his family at home.”

Like that’ll ever happen, Giselle thought.

“Open your eyes,” Francesca whispered.

Giselle opened her eyes to her girlfriend holding three train tickets to London and a big smile on her face. 

“Francesca!”

She giggled. “I thought it was time for a new chapter in our lives.”

“There’s three.”

She nodded. “One for you, one for me, and… one for your mother.”

Giselle swelled with emotion. “Even for my mother?”

“Yes. I think we all need a new start.”

“What about us?”

“We can make it work.”

“Mama?” Giselle asked after dinner.

“Yes, my darling birthday girl?”

“You know how Francesca and I have discussed moving to London?”

Rebecca nodded slowly. 

Giselle handed the third ticket to her mother. “We’ve included one for you too.” 

Her eyes widened. “...Oh my.”

“We want to come with us, Mrs. Walsh,” Francesca said, smiling. “A fresh start would be welcome.”

“I don’t want to leave you alone, Mama.” 

Rebecca swallowed, staring at the ticket in hand. Her daughter and friend’s act was touching, even though she knew they both wanted a fresh start without her. Giselle would have to eventually leave the nest. It was a new decade, and her generation was different from her own. They were independent, and societal expectations didn’t hold them down. “...Oh, you girls are the kindest women I’ve known. But… I need to say here. Byron is technically the master of the house, and when he comes back, I bet he’ll want somewhere clean to stay before he inherits the dukedom. You’re both ready for a new chapter in your life, and I wish you the very best.”

Her daughter nodded. She knew better than to crush her mother’s fantasy. It would be years before Byron returned home. 

“Oh, Mama, I’m going to miss you so much!” She exclaimed, embracing her mother tightly. 

She smiled. “I’ll even finally install a telephone so you two can phone me from London.”

Francesca nodded, equally delighted. “I’ll make sure Aunt Rosamond visits as often as she can for company.”

“We’ll be the two old hags of Newcrest,” Rebecca muttered, chuckling. “While you two head off to London.”

Newcrest Fresh Start - Weeks 11 and 12

With five households settling into their fresh start in Newcrest it's time to check back in with Kristoff, the resident writer and future librarian.

When we last saw Kristoff he had managed to publish enough books to bring in some steady income and started building his underground crypt home, as well as beginning a steamy affair with Victor Feng. Whilst the other new residents have been moving in he has struck up a friendship with Kerri Pool and went of a date with Paka'a Uha.

Player's note: In this update the fact that I am using Lumpinou's excellent RPO and LQBTQIA+ mods becomes relevant.

Kristoff continues writing novels and taking on more lucrative freelance gigs into Autumn and is soon able to build an expansive home, even if he cannot yet afford furniture. He also spends some time with his new friends the pools and finds there are benefits to being part of a human community as even Kerri's husband Ali is happy to help a bro out when he is in need to Plasma. Kerri and Kristoff soon become best friends.

During the first few days of Autumn Kristoff also follows up after his date with Paka'a. Kristoff just adores Paka's and is completely smitten but might have come on a bit too strong. He decides it'll be worth it to take things a little slower.

Meanwhile, a vampire sim has needs and Kristoff continues his affair with Victor who is more than happy to fulfil both his romance and plasma requirements.

Despite these distraction Kristoff hits some career highs, reaching the top level of writing skill and publishing his autobiography, 'Love and Life, Before and After' in the Readers Digest. He also gains a small amount of fame.

He picks up some furniture here and there, which means has a much nicer environment to entertain in. His next goal is to build the library building before the end of Winter.

As things with Paka'a look to be becoming more serious Kristoff thinks he should break it off with Victor. He is just practicing his break up speech on Winterfest Eve when he gets distracted by some strange lights outside and gets abducted by aliens.

In the early hours of Winterfest morning he receives a call to let him know that his 'good friend' Victor Feng has passed away. What a night!

Though he is feeling uncomfortable and sad, Kristoff decides to brave the sunshine and spend Winterfest getting to know his new community and spreading some cheer. It helps that his best friend is around to let him vent and offer some sage advice.

Before the day ends Kristoff realises he is pregnant!

Kristoff is trans but technically undead so didn't think he could actually get pregnant. He hadn't been too careful with Victor. He also was not planning on becoming a parent any time soon so this is an upsetting situation.

He thinks it's possible the weird prodding he was subjected to by the aliens might have something to do with it but it seems unlikely. The father must be Victor, right?

Paka'a is shocked when Kristoff tells him the news but to his surprise, is very suppportive and reassures him that it won't affect their relationship.

With Paka's support Kristoff builds a nursery and puts some time into parenting classes and therapy and soon finds some acceptance of his situation. Even learning he is expecting twins doesn't dampen his spirits and he finds he's actually looking forward to starting a family in Newcrest.

On Friday Paka'a arrives to stay for a couple of nights to help Kristin through his upcoming labour. He's a welcome presence whilst Kristoff finishing off one last biography freelance commission before the babies are born. This means her can finish the exterior walls of what will be Newcrest's library.

Late Sunday morning Kristoff welcomes his surprisingly blue twin girls Natalia and Mikhaila. Maybe the aliens had something to do with it after all?

We leave him to settle into a parenthood and start planning the next stages of the library.

Ayaka: A tried and true friend, they get along best when it's just the two of them. It's too soon to tell but there might be something here.

Grace: A hottie with a mystery behind her. Annie can't seem to get enough. It's too soon to tell but things are heating up.

Ulrike: The interactions have been awkward, but the invitations keep coming. Ulrike gets Annie in a way that is like dating yourself.

Nanami: Sweet and flirty shopkeeper who was very receptive when talking with Annie, and is a fresh change of pace from her usual social life.

With the Moonwood Mill homestead burnt to a crisp, and his (now ex-) partner in prison for murder, Verse decides it might be best to have a fresh start. He and the four children pick up and relocate to Newcrest, a run-of-the-mill suburb of Copperdale. The neighborhoods are walkable, there are no werewolves, and no bad memories. It is, Verse decides, perfect.

It had been 3 1/2 weeks since Kayna moved in, and things were slowly coming into place as she adjusted to her new independence. Though she was afraid of the responsibility, she reminded herself why she agreed to uproot from the mundane passivity of her life back in Willow Creek in the first place. Wasting her life away by feeling insecure about her shortcomings was no longer something she wanted to allow to hold her down. This time, she was determined to find herself now as a young adult with a fresh start in the quiet suburbs of Newcrest.

Orchid and Serenity have finished their picnic on the ground, and decided to move to the communal picnic table to continue talking.

Serenity: So, tell me more about what happened after you moved away from Newcrest. I know you met Arianna and Rae and you all became fast friends in high school, but what else?

Orchid: Oh, there’s not much else, I developed my love for plants and nature though! Dad’s job in Conservation became his whole life, he was taking on lots of hours to cover the hefty living expenses of Sulani so it was basically just me around the house (except when Rae or Arianna came over). I spent my spare time gardening or flower arranging. Actually, lately, I’ve gotten into cross-stitching because of a gen ed I took freshman year! What about you? What happened to you after I moved to Sulani?

Serenity: In all honesty, not much. I continued to be in love with you for a few years. Once I got a phone I considered reaching out to you on Social Bunny, but I didn’t want to bother you or something, especially if you were with someone.

Orchid: I felt the same way! Not about the being in love with you part, but I didn’t want to bother you or reconnect without being able to see you again. I thought it was best to leave the past in the past. I guess the universe just wasn’t done with us yet.

Serenity: *takes Orchid’s hand* I think so too…so tell me about Felix.

Orchid: *pulls her hand away immediately* What?! Felix? What about him?

Serenity: Oh please, you said you were fresh off being in love with someone, and I saw how awkward you two interacted at the juice-kegger. You were in love with him, right?

Orchid: Uh, yes, but I–I think I like you now, why do you want to know about him?

Serenity: Well, normally people who like each other share about their past relationships, right? I haven’t been in a relationship before, I’ve only ever loved you. I was just curious about how you fell for a 50-something-year-old man seemingly out of the blue.

Orchid is hesitant, struggling with how to share the story without blowing Felix’s cover.

Orchid: Well I…okay, I guess I should share. I fell for Felix a little before Freshman year. He was living in Britechester well before we started school. I…scoped out the city before I decided on the University of Britechester. I came across Felix in…the library. He seemed to be doing the same thing I was, scoping out the university before attending.

Orchid’s brain feels like imploding after trying to explain how she fell in love in a discrete way. How can she explain that she fell in love with a stranger over a biography about him?

Orchid: Um…he was different. He…was so incredible.

Serenity: Incredible? How?

Orchid: Shit, uh, he…I fell in love from a distance. Not in a stalker-y way. More like a secret admirer way. I noticed little things about him. It felt like, like we had our own secrets between us (though of course, he had no idea who I was). He would…drop something and only I would see and that would be our little secret. He would joke to himself and only I would hear, and that also became a secret. No one else knew about–I mean noticed him, he was largely forgettable I guess. Just another middle-aged cishet white man.

Serenity: So he had no friends?

Orchid sighs and takes a second to gather herself, struggling to create falsities to cover up Felix’s ghostly past.

Orchid: Uh, not that I saw. I said he was largely forgettable? Double that and that’s how much people remembered him. He was almost…*hesitates*...like a ghost.

Serenity: Weird, but okay…

Orchid: Haha yeah… 

Serenity: So you fell for him over a distance and being in a library? That’s oddly the most innocent and creepy thing I’ve heard.

Orchid: *Pouts and crosses her arms* It wasn’t creepyyy, it was sweet!

Serenity: *Puts hands up in defense* Whatever you say, honey, hehe.

Orchid playfully juts her face out, closing her eyes, waiting for a kiss. Serenity answers her unasked question with a quick peck. Serenity grabs Orchid’s hand and the two jaunt off into the Henford-On-Bagley woods.
