Stay Out of the Basement - Canada
Tumblr media
Dr. Brewer is doing a little plant-testing in his basement. Nothing to worry about. Harmless, he says. But Margaret and Casey Brewer are worried about their father. Especially when they...meet...some of the plants he is growing down there. Then they notice that their father is developing plant like tendencies. In fact, he is becoming distinctly weedy-and seedy. Is it just part of Dr. Brewer's 'harmless' experiment? Or does Dad have more than just a green thumb...?

Cover designs for Hans Holbein the Younger's Alphabet of Death, bound in a most unusual manner in 1895 by Paul-Romain Raparlier (not for the squeamish).

French test with Qing Su, using mim's fantastic French dictionary!
Yes, Coward Montblanc is making a comeback... If I weren't Going Through It, I'd consider making a full French cover... Should I? 😳
(True jadyjads/jadziajan fans know I also made tests with GENBU and Saki Lite >:D They both did well!!)

And the fire spirits went on, Free from the shackles of magic men, Vanished to the dry land Until every summer they choose to show, And they chant in triumph to the wails Of the ones who burned them

Kind of enjoyed his character teaser! :)
I think Lyney will be pretty interesting especially if he’s the main character introducing us to Fontaine (similarly to like collei and tighnari being the first characters for sumeru). The relationship between magic and law to the truth are very counter to each other, because magic presents falsehood as the truth while law is meant to uncover the truth and judge impartially based on it. I think the fact that we’re seeing a family of magicians in our first banner instead of a judge or a lawyer means a lot of fun things are in store for the Fontaine justice system in terms of how it handles falsehoods presented to it and how it judges what it perceives to be truth.

KING FRANÇOIS I BOOK OF HOURS (1578)
A dazzling masterpiece of the French Renaissance.
This small prayer book is bound in enamelled gold and gemstones. It was purchased in 1538 by King Francis I of France as a gift for his niece. The gems consist of carnelian (two intaglios and eight cameos), rubies (27 polished pieces), turquoise (24 cabochons) and rhodolite (one faceted stone in the book’s clasp that has been described as tourmaline since 1942). Most of the rubies were mined from the Mogok area of Burma (now Myanmar). Based on historical considerations, the turquoise could have originated from Persia or possibly Uzbekistan, and the carnelian from either India or Saxony. The faceted rhodolite from India or Sri Lanka, was most likely added to the clasp between 1842 and 1884. [view large]
