I’ve had several posts about other systems to play, usually as answers to asks I’ve gotten, if tumblr search worked better you could look on my blog quite easily. But for posterity’s sake…

Crunchier games:

-most similar to DnD 5e: Pathfinder 2e. All rules free online, extremely popular

-faster, high stakes cinematic combat with more flexibility in setting: Mythras

-apocalyptic survival exploration with good gun-based combat: Twilight 2000 4e. Easily reskinned for other settings that keep the same thematic core

-people will get mad if I don’t mention Lancer, it’s a mech game, I just think it’s okay personally.

Pf2e and Lancer are combat as sport while mythras and t2000 are more combat as war (explainer here)

Lighter Games:

-OSR: Old School Renaissance, this is a school of RPGs based on original DnD and adventuring with fragile characters defined by gear instead of abilities who should always fight dirty and creatively, trying to outwit opponents instead of engaging head-on. Mausritter and Dragonbane are my current favs, but there’s hundreds of games in this genre of all different kinds of themes. Favors GM rulings over written rules⭐️Great for people who already play 5e in a much more freeform style⭐️

-PbtA: Powered by the Apocalypse, a school of RPGs based on Apocalypse World. Strong mechanical support for collaboratively making your story at the table. ⭐️Great for people who prefer roleplay and narrative⭐️. People often recommend Dungeon World because it’s similar to old dnd, personally I just think it’s okay. Current fav is The Sword, the Crown, and the Unspeakable Power for Game of Thrones feeling stories, Fellowship is good for LotR style fantasy. Hundreds of games in this genre and the subgenre Forged in the Dark (FitD) for games based on Blades in the Dark. Current fav is Rebel Crown.

-Free League Publishing makes a ton of rpgs and pretty much all of them are good, I highly recommend anything they do. FIST is a fun osr and pbta hybrid. Riddle of Steel and its successors are cool rpgs trying to simulate real sword fights unfortunately mostly made by reactionary dipshits. There’s tons of unique rules light stuff outside of OSR or PbtA design space as well, go on the various rpg subreddits, go to rpg blogs, go to itch.io and explore. r/rpg is a great resource and I’ve learned about so many good systems from it.

-I hope this one shows up when searching my blog for rpg posts in the future so silly people don’t go “you never recommend games you’re just a HATER!” I love to hate but it’s slightly more fun to play good rpgs with friends than it is to be a hater online. Saturday, May 11th 2024. Wellington.

Today was our final day in Wellington before we leave early tomorrow morning for the south island, and it was a refreshingly relaxed coach-free affair (childhood me could never have imagined travelling this much all week and not vomming every five minutes, I guess my years of increasing the profits for Megabus has paid off).

We met and had a talk from Daniel Reeve, a lovely chap who was responsible for nearly all the calligraphy and many of the maps and illustrations in the LOTR and Hobbit films. We weren't allowed to photograph any of his illustrations as he technically doesn't own the rights, but if you've literally seen the title for the films or bought yourself even a mug with Frodo's name on it then you'll have seen his work. Jake and I decided that the thrashing our wallets received yesterday was insufficient, so we decided to pick up a couple of posters between us that Daniel kindly signed. Jake got a poster of the Shire, and I got a poster of Gollum because he reminds me of my would-definitely-betray-you-the-moment-you-stopped-feeding-him-chicken cat (Wilson if you're reading this I haven't forgotten about you, two more weeks to go bb xo). 

Afterwards, Jake and I decided to temporarily part ways for our the rest of our afternoons in Welly (not in a negative way or anything like that, we're just completely sick of each other). I finally did my laundry and ironing (the most satisfying part of this trip so far) and then I had a wander around the harbour before popping into Te Papa Museum. Having already been to Auckland's museum I didn't spend too long in here, although in contrast to the hobbits we've encounteted they had these gargantuan figures of soldiers of The Gallipoli Campaign (about 4x the size of an actual person, and coincidentally made and supplied by Weta).

For dinner, we went to Mama Brown - New Zealand's finest American diner with McKenzie and Joseph (the Alabamians, which is a nickname I'm sure they'd really appreciate). Tomorrow, we're off to NZ: 2 The South Island via ferry and then a coach down to Nelson. Apparently, there's a notable temperature drop in the south, so it might be time to finally hang up my beloved shorts for good (RIP, you were the real Frodo and Sam of this journey).

So, I’ve never done this before! Probably because I didn’t feel confident drawing fan art until recent years. But I’m planning to apply to an art school next year, and taking requests from other people will undoubtedly challenge me to draw things I wouldn’t think of on my own and learn new things, improve my weaknesses and better my chances of getting in. I currently do some work as an illustrator, a few book covers and posters a year, and I wish to be an actual professional one day. Soon. So, in case you were wondering, this is completely self-serving. (Not that I don’t enjoy giving things to fandom, obviously I do!)

Fandoms

My main fandom is KnB, so I’m likely to prioritize requests for this fandom.

Other fandoms I have drawn fan art for in the past include SPOP, Kaleido Star, Princess Tutu, W.i.t.c.h. (off the top of my head) and other fandoms that I’m actively engaged with or always return to include H2O, LotR, Sherlock Holmes (mostly the original and BBC), BBC Merlin, Gilmore Girls and BTVS, so it shouldn’t take me too long to get comfortable drawing for these fandoms.

Other than that, I’m open to anything you can find on my anime and manga list or Goodreads that I at least somewhat enjoyed. They’re not 100% comprehensive, and obviously don’t include all media types I engage with, so you can always just try your luck too and ask if I know your fave!

I will not draw characters I’m unfamiliar with, (OCs are an exception) or have practically no memory off, because I need to know who I’m drawing as much as I need to know what they look like. I also won’t draw something that I personally dislike too much, or don’t want to support for other reasons.

Style

I lean towards cartoon style in drawing characters, and impressionism in colouring and background. You can absolutely challenge me to go out of my comfort zone, but my preferences will likely show.

If your request involves anime, manga or other types of cartoons, I will always stay close to the original character design, but other than that you can request different kinds of styles when it comes to colouring, background, other details and the overall feel of the picture.

I’m not currently interested in attempting to draw hyper realistically, so keep that in mind if your request involves characters portrayed by actors, or your OCs. You can request anime/manga style or my own blend of styles that I use in my original art, or something else you have in mind.

Some rules for the content of the requests

I won’t draw romantic/sexual content of ships that contradict my headcanon. I’ll attempt to make a more comprehensive list that I’ll link here, until then you can use my drabble request rules as reference, do some math (if you know that I ship KagaKuro exclusively, then I won't draw other ships for the characters in question), or try your luck.

I won’t draw sexualizing content of minors (which is under 18 in my country and apparently generally considered to be that online)

I do not think nudity is or should be inherently sexualizing, so mild/partial nudity of any character is fine, HOWEVER requests that seem like an attempt to sexualize a minor anyway will automatically be denied. (Like a request that focuses on the nudity as opposed to it just being a natural part of the scenario.)

I won’t draw full/graphic nudes of any character no matter their age, because I’m just not interested in knowing any character that intimately

Age appropriate/realistic romantic/sexual situations for characters who are minors are fine, the key is that it should not be sexualizing from the viewpoint of the viewer: the character is not objectified. Teenagers have feelings and urges, and it’s hypocritical to not be able to portray that in a way that is true to the character in question.

(For example, depicting a sixteen-year-old character drooling over the sight of their crush in a towel is not sexualizing/pornographic, it’s a completely realistic depiction of being a teenager and censoring that kind of stuff does more harm than good. However, depicting the crush in a towel in a way that exaggerates perceived "sexiness" for the viewer is sexualizing, and that I won't do.)

I won’t draw clear nsfw content of characters of any age, because I’m not very interested in the first place, and I don’t want to get flagged, however borderline cases might be okay, depending on the level of detail.

When making the request, just ask yourself this: Is this a realistic situation where this particular character at this particular age would willingly get into? If not, then I won’t draw it, and I might or might not have a stricter view than you. I will always draw these types of requests in ways that leaves more up to the imagination than it shows anyway, no matter who it depicts.

No non-con and dub-con.

I won’t draw death, gore or graphic violence, minor injuries etc. are fine.

I won't draw cross-overs between characters from different fandoms, but characters from one story depicted in the context of a different story are cool.

Obviously, there might be other reasons not listed here that your request could get denied, in which case I’ll let you know.

Lucan Paulo

Modern Verse-

Height 6’2 Age- 38- 45 (verse dependent) Sign: Leo Build- muscular role - Top- dom Sexuality - Bisexual (heavily male leaning) Job title- P.R. Manager - (later, movie producer) Lucan has been independent and image conscious all his life, but that increased ten-fold when his parents split and his mother sent him to school in the States.. In short, presenting a polished appearance gives him a sense of control. He takes after his outgoing, flashy, regal, mother- her focus on looks and luxury. He also has her hidden sense of kindness, and a moral compass that is a little beaten and bent, but functional despite some creative interpretation. He has a tense relationship with his father, and often travels to Spain to visit- if only to help manage the wineyard/winery and ranch of his family's estate. While in college, he met one of the great loves of his life, Druscilla Trevelyan (dru bennet depending on verse), which whom he had a son, that he is now largely estranged from. However, he maintains a lifelong friendship with Dru to this day, despite his son's disapproval. Hobbies - Working out, reading. Horseback riding. Dragon Age AU, potterverse AU (fuck jkr), LOTR AU, DC/Marvel AU as follows:Dragon age AU-Lucanus Paulo Age, born in the year (unknown) Astrological sign - Unknown Mortalitasi (Death Mage) of Nevarra. Advisor to King Markus, a man of advanced years and ailing mental faculties. He met a noblewoman of Ostwick from the Trevelyan family and fathered a son they named Antoniz (Anthony in Ostwick). He made a somewhat earnest attempt to help rear the child, and he spent time between the Free Marches and Nevarra in his youth, but Lucanus largely kept the boy at arm's length emotionally. It was a horrible strike of luck that the boy was revealed to be a mage once in Ostwick and sent to the Circle to live under Chantry rule. Were his magical talent to be discovered in Nevarra, he would have lived freely and Lucanus would (eventually) taken him under his wing, tutored him and perhaps even induct him into the Mortalitasi Order. Alas, it was not the case, and Lucanus grew to take an interest in his son at last, if from afar, and mainly the accounts his spies relayed to him about the boy's progress. Meanwhile Lucanus continues to advise the king for as long as his reign lasts. Having no successors, the future of Nevarra remains uncertain. To say that the transition of power will be bloody is a vast understatement, and Lucanus has many contingencies planned to ensure the Nevarra remains strong, is not re-subsumed into Tevinter or the Marches, and that mages remain free at least in this small pocket of the world not controlled by Tevinter. Lucanus takes an especially keen pride in Nevarra's necropolis, finding comfort in the grand city of the dead, its macabre moaning gardens and ornate streets. Spirits have often whispered that Lucanus is destined for a premature death, which hampers his investment in his own life even as he works towards posterity and his country's future.

Hogwarts AU (to be expanded later) Lucan (Lucanus) Paulo was named so when his parents partook in the time-honored, yet somewhat infamous practice of taking their child to a Name Seer who read the baby's future, and likened his fate to that of Marcus Annaeus Lucanus , a friend of Nero who was killed for criticizing his dictatorship. It just so happens that early death seems to strike many males in the Paulo family line, (and perhaps that is why Lucan is often distant with his son, no matter the world or timeline). LOTR AU “Kings built tombs more splendid than the houses of the living and counted the names of their descent dearer than the names of their sons. Childless lords sat in aged halls musing on heraldry or in high cold towers asking questions of the stars. And so the kingdom of Gondor sank into ruin, the line of kings failed, the white tree withered and the rule of Gondor was given over to lesser men. ” Lucanus's family is of Gondor, and has been long tasked with the overseeing of the tombs of the great city. Lucan's line extends to the founding of Arnor, and yet is somewhat sullied and infamous for several of his line abandoning the city in favor of becoming 'Black Numenoreans' and practicing black magic. Despite the passing of an age, the whispers follow Lucanus to this day to the point that Lucanus has sent his wife and son away.

DC, Marvel AU Dc- Lucan is largely similar to his "modern verse" but he is a pure or almost pure homo-magi who specializes in a blend of urban and death magic, which he has passed onto his son.

So yesterday was free comic book day and I went again this year. I didn’t get to scan through the boxes of dollar comics this year because I have a sprained wrist and didn’t want to deal with the crowds surrounding them and possibly bumping/hurting my wrist. But I still got some cool treasures.

have accomplished the gardening, housework and putting up the LOTR poster! also have the grill pieces soaking in the sink, took the cabin air filter and bottle recycling down to the car, put the seat covers in the laundry (I've owned this car for 3 years now and it's only just occurred to me that I can a) take off and wash the covers and b) I have no obligation to put them back on, bc they're mildly uncomfortable and annoying). Aaaannnnd while I didn't clean the storage room I boxed up all the books and stuff for value village so it's not sprawled all over the floor and the books are going in the trunk so I can slowly offload them in the little free library.

Going to try and finish Yume before family dinner now, and leave everything else for this week evening.

groceries and get gas

gardening: water plants, pull the dead leaves off the beans (alas, they do not look good), stake the peas again if they need it (they're getting tall!!), put tomato cages on the tomatoes (they're finally big enough to need them!!

housework: clean kitchen, clean bathroom, clean up living room, dust tv stand and desk, laundry if there any, vacuum and mop

cooking: portion and freeze meat, wash veggies, organize the fridge so I can find things again

take new cabin air filters to the parents place so I can install it (limited space in my parkade makes any car-thing difficult)

take down the old shelves on the living room wall and put up the LOTR poster (just doesn't seem right to not have it up somewhere, and I don't need the shelves since the rocks have been moved)

do a yoga (still trying to get in the habit of doing it once a week but I am absolutely terrible at this exercise thing)

do a face mask bc my face feels gross again (I am dry as a desert in winter but a greaseball in summer, whyyyy)

write something. anything. been wanting to write since last weekend and I haven't and aaaahhhh I need to stop procrastinating

Several of my stories are very angsty, but usually have a happy or at least hopeful ending.

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I only wrote one, because I wanted to combine my two fandoms: The Lord of the Wings, or To the World and Back Again.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Not directly, but I've seen some negative reactions in other places (public but where the posters didn’t expect me to see it, probably). I write some heavy whump and I learnt to stop being apologetic about it.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Not usually. I wrote one story for a zine and do some experimenting with smut in short ficlets here: Sweet and sour, spicy and bitter (the flavours of love)

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of. 

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, several to Russian and Chinese, but also German.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes, I co-wrote A Special Place in Hell with @hotcrosspigeon, it was really fun.

What’s your all time favourite ship?

That would be Aziraphale/Crowley because in the Tolkien fandom I prefer to explore the friendships to shipping.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

My original fantasy story The Heart of the Mountains (I do intend to finish it though). I usually finish fanfics before I start posting now, so I don't currently have any unfinished fanfics, even though it took me 6 years to finish The Riddle of Strider.

What are your writing strengths?

I also write poetry, so my prose often has some poetic qualities as well.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I write very slowly and need to think about each sentence or even word.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I sometimes throw a few words in Elvish into my Tolkien fics, but I didn’t have a situation that would need a whole dialogue yet, so I don't really have an opinion.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Actually, it was a poem about two Forgotten Realms characters, but all following stories were Tolkien and then Good Omens

What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

In both fandoms, I have one story that I really wanted to write since the moment I got into the fandom, and that contains a lot of deeper thoughts that the source material evoked, a magnum opus, so to say. The Song in the Darkness (LotR) is about hope, while Back to the Roots (GO) explores the meaning of love and sacrifice. (Both do that through hurting the characters, because that's a kind of stories I like.) Other stories are about some thoughts and ideas that didn’t fit into these works, but I don’t like being repetitive. I’d like to tag @hotcrosspigeon, @aziraphalelookedwretched, @teslatherat and @charliebrown1234, but if you don’t feel like doing it, just take it as a compliment to your writing, please. About the Mun

1. Firstly I am over 30, own a house, have a husband, 1 baby, 2 cats, and a wealth of commitments and responsibilities. I will do my best to reply in a timely manner, but will state up front that sometimes life gets in the way.

2. I am in EST and work M-F from 9-5, plus a half hour commute. Please understand that I can not post from work, and will not be posting during those times.

3. In addition, I am Mom to a very active toddler who is my priority over writing and who’s nap schedule tends to dictate when I can post.

4. My native language is English, though I can understand French, and a little bit of Spanish and Japanese. Don’t bank on me carrying on a decent conversation in any of those languages though.

1. When I first set up this blog I didn’t realize that secondary blogs can’t follow back, ask, or submit. My main blog name is Saffity, so if you see that blog follow you, it’s me. If I send an ask or submit, I will mention this blog name so you don’t get confused.

Mun’s Playing Style

1. I prefer my Bofur straight. I understand Boffins and other ships and have no qualms with them, I’ve been known to enjoy a good fluff fic once in a while, but this Bofur is straight.

2. Please send me an ask or fan mail if you would like our characters to have an already established relationship, I’m totally cool with it. I respond to all cannon characters as known as it shows in the books or movies, but if you are an OC and want something other than a “Nice to meet you” please let me know first.

3. I’m willing to do some fluffies, but not full on smut, if the thread calls for smut (which will often happen), I’ll fade to black when I’ve gone as far as I feel comfortable with. (Don’t worry, I’ll fade when I’m ready, you’ll never get any angry messages from me about going too far.)

4. Bofur here is multiverse, au, indie, whatever you want to call it. I’m sure he’ll fit into whatever crossover or world you decide to drop him in, he’s very easy going after all.

5. I tend to write in the past tense, third person. If you’d prefer a different style, just let me know and I’ll try to accommodate.

6. I’m bad with my images, so bad! I’m still figuring everything out, so if I’ve royally screwed something up, please let me know and I will delete and repost correctly.

7. I am super okay with editing anything I write if it doesn’t jive with your character or where you want the plot to go, please just let me know.

8. I mainly play on mobile, as such, I’m not able to cut my posts down. Please do so whenever you feel the need/want, I won’t be upset.

Head Cannons that go across all verses

1. Bofur has a Northern Irish accent and his hat, always his hat.

2. Bofur has named his hat Bundushathur, which in Khuzdul means “Cloudyhead” and will sometimes refer to his hat as a sleeping rabbit. If Khuzdul does not exist in the verse (like Modern) then the hat is called Cloudyhead and still referred to as a rabbit.

3. Bofur is the everyman, he isn’t special or high born. He is good natured, friendly, and the world’s best wingman, even if it means connecting someone he pines after with someone else. He would rather see them happy and keep their friendship than try to force his feelings on them or lose their friendship because of his pride.

4. The main characteristic about Bofur is that he is unimportant in the hierarchy of society.

Main Verse - The Hobbit/LOTR

Bofur is 4'6" but fairly thin for a dwarf.

Bofur is a dwarf who’s family line comes from Moria. He is of the mining class. He was born and raised in Ered Luin with his brother. Shortly after Bofur became an adult, his parents died, leaving him to raise his brother. Shortly after that, Bifur was injured in an orc attack. Bofur and Bombur took Bifur in, however there were a number of difficult years as they all got used to Bifur’s new personality.

Once Bifur was stable enough, the brothers decided it would be a good idea to head out and find new customers for their skills. They ended up at Bree, opening up a shop to sell Bifur’s fabulous toys, and offer tinkering services.

During their stay in Bree, Bombur got married to a passing female dwarf and moved his overly large family near the shop. Bifur and Bofur live together in living quarters at the back of the shop, Bombur lived with them until he got married.

Bofur travels around Middle Earth, usually west of the Misty Mountains, and most often between Bree and Ered Luin by way of the Shire. He collects supplies, sells wares, and visits many friends and family that are about the lands.

When Thorin calls for assistance in taking back Erebor, Bofur and his kin lock up their shop and head for the Shire.

After the quest they settle in Erebor, though Bofur heads back to Bree to close up their shop and settle accounts prior to settling in for a long life of enjoying his 14th share of the treasure.

Head Cannons that can totally change if my partner is a Bifur or Bombur

1. Bofur’s father was killed in Moria at the battle of Azanulbizar, his Mother died in an Orc attack when Bofur was in his 40s. He has taken care of his brother ever since.

2. Bofur took Bifur in after Bifur was orphaned as well, the three are like brothers, having shared the experience of loss and growing up together.

3. Bombur stopped speaking after their mother died. Bofur’s tried to get him to speak, and has managed to get him to speak sometimes, but usually just small replies and often with much prodding. Bifur and Bombur use the same sign language to speak to each other and those who don’t speak Khuzdul. Bofur takes care of both of them and is the one who speaks to customers.

Modern Verse

High School

Bofur is not popular, though he’s friendly and basically knows everyone. He enjoys shop class, classical music, and historical literature.

Studious and hard working, Bofur can often be found with his nose in a book, when not sitting on the bleachers playing the tin flute he always has on him.

College Student

Bofur is a TA in college. His major is historical literature, and his goal is to eventually become a professor. His passion is delving into historical fanatasy from cultures other than England and Western Europe.

He enjoys learning languages in order to read what he is researching in its original state.

General Modern Adult

In most modern adult verses Bofur is a general labourer, most often a janitor. If he is a teacher, he teaches music and drama.

Ice Cream Shop

Bofur runs a small home made ice cream shop that is part of a coffee shop run with a companion or family member (his partner can be any member of the company). He makes a variety of flavours, and offers lactose and gluten free varieties.

He prides himself on being able to guess his customers’ favourites on sight (like the movie Chocolat).

Marvel

Bofur is a janitor within shield. He can be found on the helicarrier, within the Avengers training base, or basically anywhere the heroes may be destroying things that need to be cleaned up.

While he is quiet and without powers, he has wisdom and a patient ear to lend to those supers who require a moment to vent.

Star Trek

This is the only verse where Bofur stands out. Bofur is a red shirt, but by some miraculous turn of events, he has gone on a number of away missions and made it back alive. Poor Bofur would love to get off the enterprise with his life, and shirt, in tact, but it appears some of the higher officers like to see him lose his mind and suggest him for more away missions, even if only in jest.

Head cannons that exist in all modern verses

1. Bofur and his family are from Northern Ireland, though Bofur travels around, goes to school abroad, and in general can pop up anywhere in the world.

2. Bofur is short for a male - 5'6", with a stocky build, and fairly strong.

3. Bofur’s younger brother Bombur is still at home (or married with kids depending on their age).

4. Bofur’s parents took Bifur in after he got injured during Armed Forces training, as Bofur’s family lives closer to the rehab resources that Bifur requires.

First creation and most recent creation of 2020: I deleted all my old blogs and restarted everything this year. These Kiki’s Delivery Service GIF headers were some of the first things I made. And my most recent one is this Pride and Prejudice set.

One of your favorite creations from 2020: This Hoist the Colours lyrics set. Frankly, I wasn’t sure the color scheme or the concept of GIFs inside letters would work, but I really like how it turned out.

A creation you’re really proud of: This Black Pearl set. It’s part of an ongoing series about ships in POTC but the Pearl is special so I wanted to make it really special.

A new style you tried this year and a GIF set that uses it: I tried as many things as I could this year (and thank you so much to all the creators who made tutorials! I owe you so much!), but the overlay transition style is something that’s become a big part of my recent stuff. This Team Cap set was one of the first things I used it on.

Your favorite coloring: Norrington’s death scene. I actually made this set out of spite (LMAO) because I couldn’t stand the scene’s original coloring, which was a combination of sickly shades of yellow and cyan. I wanted to do better than that. I think I did?

A creation that took you forever: Norrington as Odysseus. This took me so long because it has some sensitive imagery and I basically let the set stew a bit after finishing each individual GIF to give myself time to think “Is this actually a good idea?”

Your creation from 2020 that received the most notes: This Pintel and Ragetti set, and I’m so glad that even in 2020 a lot of people still love them!

A creation you think deserved more notes: The ASOIAF book fandom is pretty small, so I think it did well all things considered. But this manip of Ben Barnes as Theon Greyjoy. (Alfie was amazing in the role, yes! But Ben fits the book description, so I wanted to make a fancast set.)

A creation with a favorite scene/quote: I really love the lighting of the beacons and the lines “Gondor calls for aid” / “And Rohan will answer,” so this LOTR set.

A new fandom you joined and a creation you made for it: I’d been watching Studio Ghibli films since I was a kid, but I only really joined the fandom this year. I made a set for Ocean Waves, one of their lesser known films and which I’d only watched this year!

A creation you made that breaks your heart: Norrington / Davy Jones parallels. It fits, ya know? And it hurts. And if my heart breaks, I’m breaking my followers’ hearts along with it because pain should be shared. LOL

A “simple” creation that you really love: This La Haine set. I learned a lot about color grading B&W while working on this one.

A creation that was inspired by another one (add both your creation and the one that inspired it!): So much of what I make was inspired by other people’s awesome work! But I learned a ton from Sarah’s poster tutorial (she mentioned techniques in there that I keep in mind for everything I do now, like sharpening methods, etc.), so this Curse of the Black Pearl poster edit. And it was inspired by everything under this tag!

A favorite creation created by someone else: This is literally the hardest to answer. There are so many amazing creations that came out this year alone. The size limit increased to 10MB, which meant everyone was free to experiment with huge GIF sizes, loads and loads of colors, and techniques using multiple GIFs combined into one. I’m sorry I can’t mention every single one I’ve adored, but here are some of my absolute faves. This Witcher set by @yenvengerberg (what even is this TALENT? This set is pure genius). This Wondertrev set by @timothyolyphant (everything is PERFECT: the coloring, the color scheme, the frames, the fonts!). This Old Guard set and this Sam Wilson set by @momentofmemory (I am not exaggerating when I say that these are some of my fave GIF sets of all time). And of course by the insanely talented person who tagged me @oswiins and whose sets make me make pterodactyl noises: this Doctor Who poster (I stared at it for an overly long time, such BEAUTY!) and this Julie and the Phantoms set (so many layers to it! This isn’t something you just look at, it’s something you stare at and study and think “Holy shit, these people are doing all this immense work for free and I am so lucky to be able to see it”).

Some of your favorite content creators from the year: Again, there are too many to mention! But I met so many talented people via the Creatorhub server and I am always thrilled to see their work on my dash: @harknessjack @magnusedom @eleanorguthrie @sonsofeorl @tennant @sonyarebecchi @amarakaran @pedros-pascal @juliesmolina @amirwilson @ansonmount @rhodee @erinsdoherty @antoniosbanderas @feativen.

hp update: its been a long time, boys. ud think that with this plague outbreak id have more time for shitty phone games, and ud be right! however, the time i normally might use to make tumblr posts has been taken up by reading lotr orc fanfiction non-stop for at least 1 full month. id still be in the thick of that obsession even now if only the fics would update. that is how i find you today folks, for the first time in many weeks i am staring at a screen with nothing to do. so come with me friends, theres no better way to fill the soulless void we are all in than reading a nice long tumbler post. 

disclaimer, first of all, a lot has happened, i prefer to keep these updates as plot spoiler free as possible but do to extenuating circumstances i feel like it is necessary to say, [SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER BELOW]

that rowan fucking died,

i wont say exactly how, but i will say that her death was animated as were animations of myself and a few others reacting to our friend fresh corpse. obviously meant to be serious moments but the animations made it seem almost comical. 

i saw at least one post going around right after this update that was like ‘how could the game devs do this to us..... how could they hate rowan so.... this is punishment from on high’ and its like.... u guys do know what a story is right? the events of  a story are not typically done to punish less faithful fans, im pretty sure they were planning to kill rowan off from the beginning. this isnt disney im pretty sure the writers are not writing each chapter the night before its released by popular vote. 

that little “are we drifting away..?” scene with rowan makes more sense now. there was a bit in one of the scenes where the kids all reminisce on rowans life and the mc talks about it being the last real one on one time they had with rowan. a nice bitter sweet moment. i dont hate this turn of events. its a good reminder that actions have consequences and we are way past they days of “should i wear a hat or scarf?” its YA time now. 

i did manage to take 1 screenshot from this time, i had commented that before that when rowan said she didnt have many friedns that barnaby seemed to be hanging out with her without be there as a friend buffer and here was his reaction to her death:

the funniest part in all of this however, was of course cedericks reaction to rowans death “but she was so young....” LOL fuckin RIP.

lets see... what else.... i forget a lot of what happened but i think there was a time sensitive quidditch event in there somewhere? if so i  dont remember it. what i do remember of the quidditch pals is that im gonna play beater now, skye is being weird and cagey about it, andre is involved.... the others are there.....

sidenote, i love the shitty b characters they throw in to be like yes you know this person but no they are not cool enough for u to even think about befriending. the first one of those is face paint kid, and now we have another, who is a former beater girl with horrible bangs named bean who didnt go to any classes for a whole season so she could just play ball 24/7 and got kicked off the team.  this is a character who only exists to provide an explanation as to why there would be a beater position open but i love them on principle. 

right now im in the midst of another time sensitive event, this one is a bother-your-brother-at-work-day event where recent hogwarts graduate bill weasley is bullied by myself and his younger brother charlie into letting us go with him on one of his curse breaking jobs. 

so for those unfamiliar, bill works for the magical bank of england.... and his job seems to be “retrieving treasure” for said bank. in the books, there is a bit where he takes his family on one of his trips to egypt, where his job seemed to have been tomb plundering indiana jones style for the posterity of the english bank :X. i wont explain here why thats bad but its bad. 

the game devs however in this instance, at least SEEM to be doing what jkr couldnt do by attempting to salvage what is left of gringotts bank and form it into not a super shitty implications factory run by horrible jewish caricatures. bills mission is to retrieve a goblin made artifact that was taken by dragons, so no going to foreign countries to steal things from other people! only going to a dragon reserve to rifle through animal nests. they even appear to be providing us with a likable goblin character, egad!  

my hope for this event is that we get a plotline about how maybe, goblins arent shifty human haters for no reason, and in fact they hate magic humans for very understandable reasons, like being forced to go into hiding with the rest of the magical world even though only the humans wanted to do that, and maybe despite running the bank in england they still dont have a lot of political sway in the world of wizards and witches, and have to rely on the faith that said wizards and witches wont fuck them over at every turn, even as they see how they treat other non-humans, such as house elves, which they desperately dont want to end up like. and maybe they DONT only care about gold... maybe thats a human stereotype based on the fact that theres a long history of humans not respecting goblin ownership customs.... which i could get into..... but i wont.... i just....... very badly dont want them to suck ;__________;

i know i said its ok to still like a piece of media as long as you recognize the problems with it, and i do, but once this game is done im gonna stop hp posting all together. ive been feeling more and more uncomfortable making these posts lately.  

GENERAL GAME NOTES; theres been some new layout changes and such. 

most notably the stairs screen has been changed from a bulleted list of all locations to a screen with tiles picturing an image of each location along with the name + icons of all classes at each place. there is one additional location that is new and yet to be unlocked, and the dragon reservation is appearing temporarily as its own tile as well. i prefer this method of getting in and out of a temporary location to how they did it with car during the last christmas special. the stairs icon also now stays in the corner when you scroll through locations, allowing you to open the stairs menu without scrolling all the way back to the left. 

they also moved a few of the buttons down into the lower left corner rather than the left side & combined the story button and sidequest button. they added a little camera button as well, just like in the dormitory, that makes all the icons in a location disappear and look better for screenshots. 

the daily special add offer thing now has its own button in the top right corner of the screen, and idk if i mentioned it before but now there are daily challenges that appear in the sidequest screen that offer small rewards for completing 3 tasks per day + a better one if u get all 3. the prizes are things like 4 energy, 75 coins, 3 monster food. the better rewards are usually either more coins, 8 energy, 3 gems, or 1 notebook. i think that it does all the different color notebooks but i cant remember for sure if i ever saw the gold one up as a reward. i like this addition in any case. if you dont pick up ur reward by the end of the day, the next time u log on it will force u to stop and accept them, and if one of the rewards is energy and ur energy bar is full, it does not seem to stack beyond the bar so watch out.

 the character stats page is now more zoomed out so you can see your full character instead of just from the waist up. no change to the leaderboard. rowans face in the friendship roster is now a still black and white image that says ur friend may be gone but friendship is forever u-u. 

rowan has been removed from all classes. in the classes where the minigames involved her, those minigames have passed the mantle onto other friends in the class. in potions that person is now liz helping u find stuff off the shelves and in tranfiguration that person is badeea. bless these girls for helping mc get through it. touched my heart. 

theres been a few fun little “i know u have more free time now so uhhhh have some energy” prizes like they do sometimes when they dont update on schedule so thats been nice. just a few days ago they gifted us 3 gold notebooks the same way. :O. 

theres also been a few instances of a energy happy hour where for a limited time energy takes less time to refresh. normally it takes 4 mins for 1 energy to do this but during happy hour its like 2:30 mins. :U its all very interesting.

and that will have to do it for tonight my friends, ill do a post for the dragon event when its done because i do like it so far and i do like getting to bully bill with charlie.
