Note
Saw your post from the author who was happy people were using Libby. I'm torn as I understand the author is happy to get the license renewed, but libraries only get 26 loans on a digital license vs 60-80 loans on a physical copy. I love the convenience of digital books, but if taking out the physical copy is better for the library I'm willing to make the trip. Just looking for thoughts from others about it.
It depends on the license agreement the library has and its different for every one. Some renew annually, others renew by X amount of rentals. The library does what is best for them, and the more people use their services the more they can usually argue for more funding.
This is not universal, of course, but most of the librarians I know are ecstatic when people use their services.

I have power!!!
Another update as I giggle with glee. About 2 months ago I fully busted my chromebook making it so that I only had my phone to access Tumblr.
And Mobile, while nice to have, still sucks especially with two toddlers.
I now have a new PC laptop with all the power of Windows 11... which mean... eh whatever.
But I have a keyboard back, my typing speed is increased, and I can actually see what I'm typing or tagging.
Perhaps my road to returning is finally opening up!

I live!!! Sort of.
So after my last post, we went to church for the first time since lock down… and the kids brought a plague upon this house.
Not THE plague thankfully. It was adenovirus most likely, which is usually a normal cold.
Usually.
The three of us that got it were down and out for 3 weeks and then took another week and a half to fully recover.
The baby got over it by himself, though with much less sleep due to congestion, and weaning went out the window till he was better.
Toddler evolved to pneumonia and needed antibiotics.
Mine evolved to possible whooping cough and also needed antibiotics.
And I just realized that with them being 1 and 4 now they are no longer “baby and toddler” but are now “toddler and child”.
I am also still in the throes of a job hunt and completing an online course for Microsoft 365.
I… am a little stressed.
I haven’t even really looked at Tumblr in a month and I miss it.
I’m not promising any timeline because last time the universe laughed. I am trying to come back and get some replies out soon though.
Hope you guys are doing better than I was. 😆

Apologies to those I owe
Hey guys,
I am so sorry to everyone I’ve left hanging. My family suffered another loss, on my husband’s side this time, which resulted in him needing to fly to the other side of the country.
5 days alone with two toddlers, the younger one slowly getting sick with an infection that we now know is minor and getting better, is not for the faint of heart.
My muse is in a coma right now and I will probably need another week or so as kiddo gets better and we all get our feet under us again for Bo to decided to get his butt in gear.
Thank you for your patience and I hope to get caught up again soon.
I miss you guys!!!

Bofur was moving through town after dropping off some stew and toys to the town instructor. Bifur and Bombur had decided to help get a school started now that Bree was growing and more children were around. The instructor had been grateful, especially for the food to give the children, some of whom did not have much at home.
He was crossing the main road when he was sure he caught some dwarfish spoken nearby. He looked up and around, noticing a can of goods rolling toward him.
He picked it up and straightened, noticing a dwarrowdam nearby holding a crate of goods.
He raised his brows and grinned as he walked over to her, “Hello there! You’re new town, I know everyone here and would be sure to know such a comely dwarf as yourself!”
He held out the can, “I’m guessing this is yours, and while you are clearly capable of continuing on your way, might I be of service in helping you bring your load to where you’re going?”

Totti had never been to Bree before, but found she quite liked it so far.
Granted she had only been there a week and most of that was spent working in the Silver Shield. The tavern and inn near the South Gate.
It was early afternoon as Totti made her way through the town on foot. She did her best to dodge and weave through the crowd while carrying a crate of baking supplies back to the Silver Shield.
She muttered a Dwarvish curse under her breath as the can of oats fell off the top and started rolling back the way she had come from.
The people around her either didn’t notice or care to help the dwarf woman.

Bofur paused at the last comment. He’d learned long ago that Viola’s intuition was usually correct.
“Is there something about him in particular or just a general dislike?”
"I wonder if it's acceptable to start biting people round here.. Honestly, I feel it'll sort about 80% of the problems I'm having."

Bofur didn’t even bother turning away from the jewelled necklace he was working on. “I know Larkin’s wife was upset with him for something, perhaps if you ask her she may allow it, depending on where you bite and how much flesh you remove.”

Bofur smiled, “that’s just incredible! For me,” he gestured to the mop and bucket, “I’m the janitor, but the nice thing is that with all the destruction that seems to happen, I’ll never be out of a job!”
He chuckled, “The most important part of what I do is keep things confidential. If I see anything odd, I keep it to myself, though some of what I see would make interesting inspiration for a number of soap operas rather than be state secrets.”
"All I want is a big, tight hug..."

Bofur's brows furrowed over his narrow eyes, catching the subject change immediately, "I think you should hold yourself to higher standard, you know I don't like you speaking ill of yourself." He shook his head, "You can't help how you were born, all you can help is your behaviour after that, and you are cream of the crop in that regard. From how you speak you haven't been paying attention when a number of our visitors have been here. You know I won't force meetings or any other things many dwarf fathers do to ensure 'proper connections', but I do think you need to take pride in who you are and realize that others you may think won't be interested actually are."
He crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head towards her with a knowing look, "Now what was that about a deal with the goblins?"
(yourehomesickiunderstand) Hello Viola, it's been a while! Any chance you might be interested in visiting your Uncle Bo again?
"As it happens, I was just on my way to visit you. I do love the great outdoors but I do miss my family." Viola loved to explore and travel, but she always found herself travelling back home after a short while.
Being mostly raised by a Dwarf had turned her into a strange thing indeed, having little knowledge of Orc culture she followed the customs of Dwarves as a result "I wouldn't dare call you anything but my father, you raised me too respectfully for that, dad."

"Well for starters, if I was going to do it I wouldn't have warned you now would I?" Bofur huffed, this is what he gets for being a decent sort, "Besides, if I wanted to do away with you I'd use something that didn't require me to get up close and personal."
He stepped a bit further back, making sure to remain out of arms reach, as limited as it was and moved around into the troll's view.
"There, now you can see me, what's your choice? Let me get out of there or leave you to struggle by yourself?"
@yourehomesickiunderstand answered:
Bofur had discovered the monster tangled in what appeared to be an old forgotten hunters trap, and while he knew that if the roles were reversed he'd likely become a quick meal or just get left to his fate, he couldn't leave any creature to suffer like that. He'd approached with the intent to cut him out, assuming it to be unconscious, but when it moved he jumped back and furrowed his brow. "Now look here, you might not be the sort to help another but I am, I'd appreciate it if you let me get you out of there without a fuss and neither of us ending up worse off than we currently are."
After a few hours of struggling, the Olog had succumbed to both exhaustion and sleep. The rope wrapped several times around his body, and the weighted log that kept his claws tied and partially suspended was situated a tree just out of his reach. As tough as Troll skin tended to be, hours of attempts left rope burns across his slate-blue skin. Thinner rope wound about his snout, snapping his jaws shut.
When Bruce heard the weight of a footfall and felt a tug in the ropes that surrounded him, the Troll couldn't snap at the stranger even if he wished to do so. Whoever it was, they had approached from out of his line of sight. He could do little more than giving a bellowing growl in warning and feel the skin on his snout crinkle in a snarl. And flash his teeth, bound shut and useless.
When the words of the stranger finally registered in his mind, the Troll could only meet them with doubt. "And 'ow do I know ye're not gonna plunge that knife 'f yers into my gut?" the Troll bellowed. "'specially out of my line of sight." Bruce couldn't quite twist his neck to address the stranger-- captor, killer, or savior.

Bofur gave a dramatic gasp, "Now who's nearing a line?! I will have you know this hat got a perfectly good wash in the last rainstorm!"
He adjusted his hat and scarf, "Such a distinguished dwarf as I would never dream of smelling of anything other than dirt and stone!"
Bofur snorted in amusement, "Ah so now we get down to the reason you did training to become a healer. The alterior motive of someone who wanted endless access to pantsless arses."
He danced away with surprising nimbleness to keep out of arms reach, grinning baudily at Thera. "I bet you've trained your horse too, that's why he's after my hat, do you have him do your dirty work of undressing your so called patients?"

"Suit yourself," the dwarf shrugged, "though I will have you know, I have taken it upon myself to practice cooking in case such a time occurs as I bump into you but you are unable to bully your way into my stores for supper. I have improved enough that you may be able to swallow TWO whole bites next time."
He smirked and then started playing a soft simple tune that seemed to use the falling rain as a counter harmony.
"Open Please"
Bofur sighed miserably as he huddled under his cloak. He'd been travelling through heavy rain all day and was not looking forward to more of the same during the night. He could tell that he was unlikely to get a fire going, and while he'd roughed it outdoors plenty of times, he didn't look forward to it.
As he continued to trudge down the road, he imagined his nice hearth back home in Bree, a kettle boiling over a roaring fire. The smell of good stew and pipe leaf. He took a deep breath and paused, did he smell wood smoke?
It must have been his imagination, there was no possible way anything was burning in this quagmire, but as he looked around he was sure he spotted the light of a flame further in the trees.
Frowning in confusion, he slowly made his way toward the fire, he didn't recall any caves in this area of the woods, nor any good cover that would allow for dry wood in weather like this. As he drew closer, he looked around for any kind of camp.
He paused, his cold, wet brain slowly remembering one being he'd met in the past who could burn something in all this and looked closer at the fire.
He smiled, "Of all nights for me to bump into you again, this would be the best." He called from the edge of the glen, the fire woman could be quite testy when startled. "At least I'll not be needing to dump water on you this time, the rain is doing well enough of that for me."

Legolas pretty quickly gets in the habit of venting about his travelling companions in Elvish, so long as Gandalf & Aragorn aren’t in earshot they’ll never know right?
Then about a week into their journey like
Legolas: *in Elvish, for approximately the 20th time* ugh fucking hobbits, so annoying
Frodo: *also in Elvish, deadpan* yeah we’re the worst
Legolas:

I just want to put an update and apology here.
Sorry that I’ve been slow, my baby has had me to the doctors office a couple times with an ear infection and the stress of that has me drained.
He’s doing better but is just over halfway through his meds so still a bit to go.
I’m hoping to get replies done in the next week. I have company staying with me from Oct 3-6 and prep for that so this time away may be extended.
Thanks for your patience!
