Do you think the Older mv was partly inspired by the work of artist Andrea Kowch?
(It was probably pointed out at the time, but I saw the painting above on Twitter this morning and it leapt out at me.)

hi mara!! just wondering if u had any thoughts on frank castle
oh bby you know i do.
i think frank has a filthy mouth, maybe its cuz he's a new yorker (me too) but theres not a time when he isnt in your ear saying something filthy. youre sitting on the couch watching a show with him? "baby this is borin' me... c'mere and ride me?" youre getting ready to go out for a date? "look at you doll, youre gonna look so gorgeous later when ive got my dick down your throat" it doesnt help that he says it so casually, smirking and walking away despite how embarrassed you seem. even when he's fucking you "fuck, creamin' all ova me, messy fuckin' bitch." filthy. love him

TRAИƧA by Red Hot Org
"Storied activist and music production non-profit Red Hot presents its latest project, TRAИƧA out November 22nd. With production beginning in 2021, and over 100 artists contributing, TRAИƧA marks one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken by Red Hot - a spiritual journey across 8 chapters and 46 songs, spotlighting the gifts of many of the most daring, imaginative trans and non-binary artists working today. It softens the edges of the world we know, and invokes powerful dreams of the futures that might one day thunder from its cracks. The album's instantly memorable cover speaks to the tension between nature and constructed environments, and the tension of transness in the western gender binary."

My earliest memory of being scared is hearing “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd” from the original 1979 cast recording. I was both terrified and fascinated by Len Cariou’s portrayal. As a kid, I learned all the lyrics to songs like ‘Johanna’ and ‘My Friends’ and would sing them constantly. The 2007 film by Tim Burton only deepened my obsession and it became my dream to play Sweeney Todd in some capacity. The “Bleeders” music video fulfills this wish in so many ways. A huge thank you to @jensennoen and his incredible team for creating my favorite video we have ever done, to @erikron for helping us craft the song, to my BVB brothers for their passion, creativity and constant hard work, our label @spinefarmrecords for their full fledged support and belief in the concept, and to all of YOU for making it possible for us to do this in the first place. Hit 'Em Where They Ain't, Boys
Over the years I've expressed my love for the sport of baseball. Love it. I've always had a favorite team to watch...the Fairbanks Goldpanners, the Nashville Sounds, and always, always the Atlanta Braves. The Braves are on my television right now battling with Chicago. They're up by one run in the second inning and I'm cheering them on. Apologies to my favorite diehard Cubs fan, Dina. All of that explains why I couldn't be more excited to share that we have tickets to see the Braves play the Nationals in D.C. on June 9th! An afternoon game in June, what's better than that? Nuttin'! We'll cross the bridge and catch the Metro which will drop us right at the stadium. No fighting traffic or looking for parking, hooray! I can't wait! As I've also mentioned a few hundred times I love the 1988 movie, Bull Durham. Baseball, steamy romance, big laughs, great music - what else do you need?
Tumblr media
Kevin Costner. Need I say more?
Tumblr media
I could relate to Annie Savoy. I mean, not because she's leggy and gorgeous, I'm neither, but her love of the game and commitment to the season. I used to have her opening (PG) monologue memorized.
I believe in the Church of Baseball. I've tried all the major religions and most of the minor ones. I've worshipped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I learned that, I gave Jesus a chance. (sigh) But it just didn't work out between us. The Lord laid too much guilt on me. I prefer metaphysics to theology.
You see, there's no guilt in baseball, and it's never borin' - which makes it like sex. There's never been a ballplayer slept with me who didn't have the best year of his career. Makin' love is like hittin' a baseball. You just gotta relax and concentrate. Besides, I'd never sleep with a player hittin' under .250, unless he had a lot of RBIs or was a great glove man up the middle.
You see, there's a certain amount of life wisdom I give these boys. I can expand their minds. Sometimes when I've got a ballplayer alone, I'll just read Emily Dickinson or Walt Whitman to him. And the guys are so sweet, they always stay and listen. Of course, a guy'll listen to anything if he thinks it's foreplay. I make them feel confident, and they make me feel safe - and pretty. Of course, what I give them lasts a lifetime. What they give me lasts 142 games. Sometimes it seems like a bad trade, but bad trades are part of baseball. I mean, who can forget Frank Robinson for Milt Pappas, for God's sake? It's a long season and you gotta trust it. I've tried 'em all, I really have. And the only church that truly feeds the soul - day in, day out, is the Church of Baseball.
I agree, Annie. Which is why I made this shirt to wear to the game.
Tumblr media
I need to look good while I yell at the ump and call balls and strikes. I know they appreciate my help. Trying to decide which earrings to wear, of course the big earrings appeal to me.
Tumblr media
I'll probably just wear the beaded hoops on the far left. Ponytail, hoops in Braves colors, and a Church of Baseball tee. If that doesn't spell crazy fan I don't know what does. Whoohoo, let's go, Braves! I don't want to hear a word about my craziness. It's fun to have something to look forward to - and if there's a rainout I may cry.
Tumblr media
Alright, that's enough silliness from me for one night. I don't expect you to share my passion for baseball or my love of Bull Durham. I do hope that you can share a bit of my excitement for something fun on the horizon. When we don't have things to look forward to, life becomes drudgery. It doesn't have to be anything big - for me it can be a trip to a garden center or a shopping trip with my sister. Life needs to be sprinkled with occasional treats. So send good juju out to the universe for fair weather on June 9th, then tune in to the Braves game. I'll be the wackadoodle in the red shirt (that should narrow it down). Sending out heaps of love tonight, take what you need and pass it on. Stay safe, stay well. XOXO, Nancy P.S. Go watch Bull Durham. You're welcome.

"ONE GETS NINE YEARS PAIR EIGHT IN 'PEN'," Toronto Star. September 29, 1943. Page 3. ---- "Records Not Enviable," Three Convicted Bank Robbers Told ---- Eight convicted persons were up for sentence in general sessions and county criminal court today.
Charles Long. 23; Lloyd Primeau, 25, and James Gallagher. 27, convicted by a jury of armed robbery of the Mount Dennis branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia and theft of $3,168 last June 21, and theft of a motor car, used in the robbery. All admitted penitentiary records. Long was given nine years and the other two eight years each.
"Your records are not enviable ones," said his honor. "Long, you have served a term in the penitentiary before, and you know the effect of armed robbery. During the last few months there have been three serious bank robberies. To add to the seriousness of this offence. you fortified yourselves with dangerous weapons. You must be replied that it did. However, the prepared to pay the penalty for your crimes."
Frank Newton, 37, married, was sentenced to two years less a day definite and three months indefinite, for assaulting and beating his seven-year-old son, Graham.
In sentencing Newton, his honor remarked: "The facts in this case are too sordid to repeat."
Eighteen months was the sentence imposed on Shea Himmel, convicted of stealing $29 from Alfred Vince.
John Tryble, John Hickey and Leo Boulley, also up for sentence, were again remanded, this time until Oct. 4. so that the court may further consider the cases of Hickey, 17, and Boulley, 19.
A. M. Matheson, counsel for Primeau, said his client had asked for a shorter sentence and the strap. His honor asked Crown Counsel Norman Borins if the criminal code provided for whipping, and the crown court did not order whipping.
The two robbed the bank just after noon, holding up the teller and robbing him of $3,168, evidence at the trial revealed. They compelled the staff to lie on the floor. They got away in a car. Long was caught in Toronto, the other two at Honey Harbor, Ont. Four revolvers were found in their possession, along with over $400 of the loot taken from the bank, it was stated.
Long and Primeau still face charges of holding up the Ideal Bread Co.. Mimico, and shooting with intent at P.C. Horniblow, and with robbing while armed Lawrence Nairn, Toronto druggist, of $125. Long, alone, is also charged with breaking into Vernon Toplin's store, Yonge St., and stealing $27 and a revolver. All these charges will be heard at the end of the present sessions.
[All three had been in the penitentiary before, despite their young age.]

Disco Godfather (1979)
Tumblr media
Disco Godfather is the most competent of Rudy Ray Moore’s 1970s films. For anyone else, that would be a selling point. For an actor of dubious talent whose fans mostly like him because his movies are accidentally funny, it's a warning. While this action film has some chuckle-worthy scenes and a few pleasant surprises, it’s overwhelmingly dull.
When Bucky (Julius J. Carry III) gets wacked out on angel dust and hospitalized, his uncle Tucker Williams (Rudy Ray Moore), a retired police detective turned rapper/disco club owner, decides to take down the drug dealers who got his nephew hooked. After repeated, failed attempts to make his way up the chain to the boss behind it all, Williams suspects someone in the department can’t be trusted.
Even before the film begins, there are dark clouds ahead. Did that screen just say "Rated PG"?. Yes, this film was made before the creation of the PG-13 rating but all of Moore’s other films had a lot of cursing and sleazy nudity. You might even say it was a selling point. Of course he isn’t actually playing Dolemite or Petey Wheatstraw (same character, really) but you expect someone called "The Disco Godfather" to be juggling a half-dozen women at least. When you realize he isn't, you brace yourself for the worst.
Moore’s other trademarks are all here. There are plenty of "martial arts" action scenes, each less convincing than the last. The punches and kicks are so slow it couldn’t be more obvious that none of them connect. Even if they did, none would cause anyone any kind of injury. As before, you already have a hard time believing Moore’s character would take down any opponent but director J. Robert Wagoner could’ve tried a little harder!
As for the performances, this is where the movie gets more enjoyable (for the wrong reasons). Take a drink every time you think "this person has to be the worst actor in this movie" and you’ll be dead from alcohol poisoning an hour in. There isn’t a convincing line delivery anywhere, and the wooden reactions are made even worse by the horrendous screenplay. At one point, two thugs attack Tucker in his office. He narrowly fends them off and they run away. From the same corridor comes his secretary, acting as if two bruised and bloodied assassinsrunning past her is the most normal thing she’s seen all day. And of course, Tucker doesn’t call the police or report this. I know what you’re thinking, "It’s because he knows there’s a rat in the precinct" but does he think it’s his former best friend Lt. Frank Hayes (Frank Finn)? How could he when the culprit is the most shifty-eyed, forehead-drenched-with-sweat, crooked-cop-if-I’ve-ever-seen-one ever?
Fans of failed cinema will also enjoy the scenes in which Disco Godfather turns into a wannabe Reefer Madness. While PCP isn’t as "harmless" as marijuana, the recovering addicts are so over-the-top you can’t stop yourself from laughing. The testimonies from the worried parents and former addicts preaching to the at-risk youths can’t be taken seriously. The slogan "Attack the Whack" is too goofy to be effective. It takes all of your willpower not to yell "Wiggedy whack!" whenever someone says something or someone is "whack". You might just explode when you hear it accidentally switched to "Whack the Attack". Then, there’s a so-called testimony from a former victim of angel dust and her speech… is NOTHING! It’s treated as an emotional reflection of a difficult life but it sounds like a placeholder that was meant to be swapped out!
The last enjoyable element of the picture are the psychedellic scenes. The special effects range from bad… to really bad. Some of the drug-induced demons we see make the orcs in Ralph Bakshi’s "The Lord of the Rings" look like the ones in Peter Jackson’s films. It comes out of a nowhere so profound and so surprising your face will be stuck in a permanent confused look.
All of this makes Disco Godfather sound like fun if you like bad movies. It would be if all of the boring bits were edited out and only the wackiest scenes remained. Unfortunately, there is indeed a plot and it's so generic it might as well be the first template you get from a free screenwriting software. The characters are so flat, the overall product so predictable and lackluster that you’ll be bored for about 75% of the running time. You’ll remember Moore’s saying "Put your weight on it!" (I still don’t know what that actually means) but little else about Disco Godfather. (June 25, 2021)
