I DID! I DID!

I’m HYPED AS FUCK TO SEE THE SHIRATORIZAWA MATCH. And disappointed to discover there’s only ten episodes this season. I’m already half done with the series help-

I mentioned that I’ve been on my winter break and haven’t been posting my reactions, but I’ve been watching! And oh, OH OH OH, I HAVE THOUGHTS.

Let’s get my favorite scene from today’s episode out of the way:

So I scrolled back through my notes and read through to get my big points or exclamations. In order of the episodes since the one after Daichi’s death:

THE SCENE WHERE UKAI FUCKING THREW TAKEDA OFF THE BENCH TO SAVE HINATA FROM CRASHING WAS A DELIGHT TO WATCH. Look at that man fly! How much do these benches weigh because I know at my high school they weren’t super heavy but I’m pretty sure you usually grabbed them from the middle at least (just to balance the weight). I don’t know. He’s just a good coach and I appreciate him. RIP Takeda say hi to Daichi for me

Daichi lives!!! Obviously I knew that already but it was good to see him back! I wasn’t totally sure how many matches he’d be out for, but I’m glad he was back for the Seijou match. No shade to Ennoshita but I don’t think Karasuno would’ve won without Daichi. Also RIP the rest of Daichi’s body because Suga and Nishinoya fully attacked him when they saw he was okay

The Seijou-Date Tech match was wild to see too. KOGANE!!! I know you only vaguely but I love this giant boy already. He’s trying his hardest, alright! And it’s always good to see Aone! This man is one of my favorite giants in the show. He’s a silent sweetie. But anyway, the match itself was ooooooh. Not Asahi calling Oikawa a “cool cat” in the English dub- I love this man. I need to marry this man. I obviously knew Seijou was gonna win but PIERCING THROUGH THE IRON WALL HOLY SHIT. IWAIZUMI HAJIME THE MAN THAT YOU ARE-

As I’ve mentioned several times, I’m a Tsukkiyama enjoyer. But that Tadashi and Yachi scene was adorable, alright. Bless my babies and the hands that drew them into existence. I love my anxiety children, they just like me fr fr

OH ALSO I FORGOT ABOUT THIS AND IDK WHAT EPISODE IT’S FROM BUT THE LITTLE MOMENT WHERE THEY SCORE A POINT OR SOMETHING AND ASAHI LIFTS HINATA UP LIKE IT’S NOTHING? I need to lie down.

I love how Seijou is this big shot team with seemingly no-nonsense players but they are entirely unserious. That one guy trying to get Yachi’s attention by tossing a ball in her direction and then running after it? Comedy gold. Hajime and the other two third years picking on Oikawa about his serves? Friendship at its finest (I love them). Mad Dog not listening to Oikawa for almost the entire match? Only respect for my rowdy king who I now ship with Seijou’s number six. I read a fic for them last night and enjoyed it very much, thank you. Iwaizumi being the only person (until 6 confronts him) who Mad Dog respects because he’s the only one who can beat him? Love this pack dynamic. They’re so unserious and they seriously grew on me in this match (and the last one, but that was lessened by them beating Karasuno).

I spent a lot of time in the Seijou match just screaming and flailing about. There were some wicked cool plays in this game. Asanoya did their own attack (Noya setting to Asahi and him spiking it), Tsukki had some incredible blocks, Daichi was digging up balls all over the place, Kagehina and their fucking quick attacks, just Hinata on his own, SUGA’S BIG PLAY OH MY GOD, Tanaka had a lot of great moments and I was right there screaming with Saeko, aND WE CANNOT FORGET THE BOY HIMSELF: MY DEAREST YAMAGUCHI AND HIS MANY SERVICE ACES. I WAS SO FUCKING PROUD OF HIM LOOK AT HIM FUCKING GO OH MY GOD. He brought us back from the dead and I was HYPED. AND HE AND SUGA WEREN’T THE ONLY ONES WITH GREAT SERVES. ASAHI GOT HIS SERVICE ACE TOO LET’S GOOOOOO!!!

*singsong voice* Oikawa’s serves fucking scare me. And while we’re at it so do Mad Dog’s unholy spikes. Nah but seriously. Oikawa would go up to serve and I’d be sitting here like “I hear boss music. Why the fuck do I hear literal boss music.”

There were some really great Tsukki-encouraging-Yamaguchi-but-in-the-way-that-only-Tsukki-can moments in the last few episodes. Like, my Tsukkiyama heart aside, he really pays attention to Tadashi. He knew how hard he’d been working. He actively encouraged him multiple times. And Yamaguchi really gets him and they are so BEAUTIFUL. SLAMMING MY HANDS DOWN ON THE NONEXISTENT TABLE

A quote from my document: “They really cut my son off like that- Hajime I love you but HEADS GONNA ROLL” But Yamaguchi’s serve was legitimately ART. If Iwaizumi were even a fractionally worse player, Yams would have nailed that point and it would’ve been over. But unfortunately, Iwa’s an excellent ace

I was literally just vibrating through those last two plays. Shaking me to my core, my heart was racing, the whole thing. This match was bad for my health. That being said, OH MY GOD KAGEYAMA’S SETTER DUMP AND THEN HINATA GETTING THE FINAL POINT AND MANAGING TO GET IT PAST OIKAWA BECAUSE OF SEIJOU’S OWN BLOCKERS- AHHHHHHHH

nah but Seijou being so broken up over the loss actually hurt me a little. Where do I find the scene where they’re in a gym and Oikawa walks up and thanks them for the three years before everyone starts crying? Is that next season somewhere? I know it’s not in season 4 because the animation matches seasons 1-3. Also Iwa being upset at himself and his friends just smacking him on the back in silent encouragement and comfort (literally just hug each other like normal people. Fucking MEN am I right /j) just- Hajime is my favorite on Seijou. I think Oikawa is the fan favorite for them, but I like Iwazumi Hajime. That’s my guy right there.

THE GROUP KARASUNO HUG TURNED INTO A BIG PILE GOD BLESS. They have to end up in a pile once a season I guess. I also loved how much everyone was supporting them. Saeko’s enthusiasm was delightful to watch (speaking of, lucky Yachi if you know what I mean- ). And then all of those students and teachers sticking around to celebrate their win!! My boys are getting the recognition they deserve! Except from the news but that’s not surprising.

I have ten episodes to become endeared to Ushijima and Shiratorizawa (aside from Tendou who I already love). We will see how I feel. But when that confrontation between Ushijima and Oikawa happened I was just like YOU FUCKING TELL HIM TŌRU. GET HIS ASS. NOW STRUT OFF LIKE THE BAD BITCH YOU ARE- YEAHHHHHHH

I love the fact that Hinata and Kageyama stayed to practice more. That’s just so very them. Thems my idiot sons. And Yachi is just a victim to their magnetic enthusiasm. And the little fist bump at the end!!! They’re so cute. Besties. Boyfriends, even. BOYS THAT CONFRONT USHIWAKA TOGETHER STAY TOGETHER WOOOOO

i honestly dont know how (best album) i didnt think of the hoshiumi x riwoo

i saw someone say this on twt and id like to take this opportunity to say thank u to that person for enlightening me of this agenda

so the reason why i think this makes so much sense is

1) blonde riwoo was literally hoshiumi (refer pics above)

2) riwoo is to bnd what hoshiumi is to kamomedai if u know what i mean ( if u dont then thats a you problem)

3) they both embody this sense of confidence with their awareness of their skills that they know how to showcase

like he knows hes that good and he shows it but is still able to be humble about it

i think lots of onedoors who have been through the haikyuu phase would agree with this one

him, woonhak and taesan are the ones who have a definite and stable parallel character in haikyuu

noya plays a very important role in the team as the libero and they are often described as the backbone of the team's defense

like its meaning in italian ("free") they are free to move in and out of the court during gameplay, they go in when support is needed especially with receiving and covering the weaker areas of the players

the role reminds me so much of mj's leadership style in bnd

he seems to always be there for his members when they need him and is always ready to support/encoruage them at all times

like the way liberos tend to be well-aware and perceptive of the court to be able to support the teams defense, is the same as mj being a well-rounded, talented leader who is always looking out for his members

i love how woonhak has mj and taesan like shoyo has noya and tobio

noya being like one of shoyo's favorite senior that he admires so much

and also the one who actively and openly encourages and motivates shoyo when he needs it, like the way mj is to woonhak to the point of treating him like he gave birth to him

as someone currently rereading haikyuu, can confirm that the adrenaline rush of it all is REAL. and also so is the crying. i got to the end of the kamomedai match and nearly started sobbing in public at work. its the everything. we dont need the memories. mediocre me do you have time to look down. no one is going to die, no one is going to be brought back to life. it was the most fun i've ever had. the idle fleeting thought that he was a star. this too is volleyball. our spring is over. i wanted to go further with this team. what will you be tomorrow. sobbing as i type fr fr fr.

anyways enough of the crying!!! re: blue lock, favorite characters oh god. ok this list has changed DRAMATICALLY since i first started reading. but favorites are def bachira (it's the loneliness and the monster and the growth and the kindness) and kunigami (bring him back i miss him he's literally so fucking tragic and for what).

honorable mention to rin, who i have recently begun to feel fucking deranged about. i 100% blame this on the most recent chapter. i also think niko is neat and deserves more screen time/development. that scene from the very beginning with him crying and isagi saying this feels good lives RENT FREE in my head.

the entire u20 match is crazy and is def my favorite arc in the manga so far. im so excited for an entire season of that game. its gonna be so insane. the "LUCK" panel actually made me scream out loud. i felt crazy reading that shit.

other favorite moment is bachira's awakening where he throws away the monster and goes for goal himself....gODDDDD. bachira <3333333 also contender for one of the best moments in the manga is in fact isagi "how does it feel to be the clown of my story". OH and also isagi and barou i will devour your darkness and turn it into light. ALSO ALSO kaiser's mental breakdown. 10/10 character arcs right there.

my fave character development story is literally tsukki's because he was fighting to hard to find a reason to give it his all and he just couldn't, so when he has that moment against shiratorizawa? literally sobbed LMAO i was reading the manga when that whole match was coming out so reading it the first time was truly mind blowing, and then seeing the animation for it? top 5 haikyuu moments for real

i loved it!!! i really really loved it but honestly? would love it if it was an actual season more. me gustó q fuese todo del punto de vista de kenma pq era súper distinto a lo q estamos acostumbrados, pero extrañé mucho el punto de vista de karasuno pq bueno, ellos son la razón pq la q me gusta tanto haikyuu ajajaj y también sentí q no le dieron tanto la importancia q tenía el partido, se sentía como si fuesen más amigos jugando q rivales en un partido en las nacionales, pq como a kenma no le importaba ganar o perder sino q le importaba saber cómo dominar por así decirlo a hinata no tenía esa presión por así decirlo. the animation for it was amazing but we literally only saw karasuno besides hinata tsukki and kageyama like, 3 times LMAO like i could not tell you a single thing asahi did, and i'm incredibly thankful they actually included the kurodai moments but they felt like More in the manga as well, like their last hug is such a pretty panel in the manga (wait i'm gonna find it because i love it LMAO)

ALRIGHT SO NO SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE RN

The movie should've been a whole season fr BUT it was still amazing.

I LOVED IT AHHHHHH I WANT TO WATCH IT AGAIN

The animation doesn't disappoint and god I swear it felt like only an episode, it went by so fast 😭 it was kinda rushed though but that's what I expected. Still, I was at the edge of my seats many times, the rallies were so good it felt like a real match. And ngl I got emotional at the end LMAO I felt the tears and I was wearing makeup so it got ruined but whatever, it was worth it.

I do wish it was more emotional, I mean I know we joke a lot about the monologues and the amount of flashbacks there are but I kind of missed them lol. Idk, the movie should've taken it easy and relax sometimes, gives us time to at least feel Hinata's and Kenma's feelings (especially Hinata's, he's the mc after all), but that's honestly my only complaint, and even so, I seriously enjoyed it. Hopefully the next movie lasts longer

The rallies were amazing. Those in which the ball went from one side of court to the other non-stop??? Like, Nekoma was amazing with their saves and so was Karasuno.

And the Kenma and Kuroo flashbacks 😭😭😭 I LOVE THEM SO MUCH I wish I have a childhood friendship like them.

AND BOKUTO MY BOY He was amazing like always, cheering on Hinata and Tsuki. It was funny to see Bokuto, Tsuki and Kuroo "together" again, really missed their friendship/rivalry. AND THAT SCENE WHEN BOKUTO AND KUROO CHANGED THEIR HAIRSTYLES HAHAHBAHAHAHAH I LOVE THEM SM.

THE TSUKI AND YAMAGUCHI SCENE AAAAHHHHHHH YES YAMAGUCHI YOU GOT THIS‼️‼️‼️ Me and Tsuki are his cheer squad.

I wanted to hug Hinata so bad when Nekoma was going against him and were trying to stop his crazy jumps. He looked so frustrated and tired. That set from Kageyama mirrored the "take it easy" recieve from season 4 and it was what Hinata needed. A high set that gives you time to breathe, time to relax, time to think. And his "bam" jump was INCREDIBLE, and the way his eyes sparkled when he saw the set???? Ugh I love him so much. Loved all the Hinata and Kageyama scenes, their banter is always fun to see.

AND THE KENMA POV HOLY SHIT PLS MAKE MORE OF THOSE. That whole sequence had me at the edge of my sit, the way you could see Lev (or I think it was him? Idk) blocking, how Kenma clashed with him, then running after the ball, the receives, the other players, IT WAS BREATHETAKING I need one of these scenes but from Hinata's or Kageyama's pov. Both if possible 🙏🙏🙏

The way Kenma and Hinata were like "I don't want this to end" I DIDN'T WANT IT TO END EITHER THAT MOVIE SHOULD'VE BEEN ETERNAL.

imma get the miya twins first. the vvv blatant parallel that hits me immediately is actually the running practice scenes like miya twins have always had each other 2 compete with and push each other and kghn only had that after they met..... honestly this makes me think abt how osamu always softens atsumu's edges and how hinata does that w/ kageyama too and i start thinking abt how his middle school wld have gone if hinata was there as a buffer!

Kissing Daichi was… amazing. The guy is passionate in everything he does, so of course he’s just as passionate when it comes to make out sessions. That’s what this was supposed to be: a make out session. How did it turn into Daichi hovering over you leaving dozen of hickies on your neck and chest, is beyond you. As he busied himself with prodding at you sweet spots to make you make sweet sounds in his ear, you tightly secured your legs around his waist.

Feeling a bit brave, you arched your back causing you to deeply press your hips into his. Daichi tensed at the sudden friction, a low groan escaping his mouth. Suga was lowkey offended that, one; you’d lie to him and two; you think he would believe such a bullshit lie. The silver-head pulled his hand away from your grasp and looked you dead in the eyes. “Well, I’m not ready then” He confessed crossing his arms over his chest. You let out a noise of disbelief before sitting up. “You aren’t? But you’re not a virgin..?” You stated, kind of confused as to why this was happening.

“I know. But I’m not ready for our relationship to go there yet”

“O-Oh, that’s fine”

Your boyfriend went on to explain how nervous he was about screwing up or not being enough for you. And you couldn’t help but agree with him. “Really? Me too! yeah we all say this one coming let's be honest with ourselves here. his growth as a person genuinely makes me crazy. he's so well developed and he's truly such a fascinating character. his arc is beautifully tied in with the MCs and beautifully ended. the way it all ties together and comes together with him at the end...chef's kiss. i have a whole theory about the way it all comes back to oikawa that i have ranted about on discord but i have not posted it...oops.

bokuto

my beloved............he means so much to me. he's so special in my heart. adhd representation fr. he's so much smarter and has so much more depth than people give him credit for--which drives me crazy and i hate it--and he genuinely has such an impact on the narrative that doesn't get appreciated enough. i love him so much.

atsumu

i really don't know how to put this into words but i'm so obsessed with him. he's so important to me. it's smth about the drive and hunger to get better at what you love, the absurd confidence in yourself that is earned rather than a facade, the way he never sees another option but putting all of your heart into what you love and want to do....he means everything to me.

akaashi

i don't know if this one will come as a surprise to people, but he's fr one of my favorite characters. he's so interesting. his mindset is really interesting and i absolutely loved seeing him in the fukurodani v mujinazaka game--it's about how he recovers, how he learns to keep trying as best he can no matter if he's worth it or not or strong enough or not, how deeply he loves his team and how deeply they love him, how he learns to love them rather than try to control them. it's just like. you and those you love being the most important people in the world, the protagonist of your own story and life, but also not being afraid of losing. not being afraid of trying, even if it means you may fail. give me your 120%. i know you can. man. i don't even know. he makes me crazy.

oh man. his journey and arc makes me...i don't even know. it means so much to me. the promise to make him say something was fun or frustrating--then nekoma's loss, and him saying it was fun anyways. oh my god. crying about it tbh. his development as a character: not particularly remarkable at first sight, but cunning and smart underneath what he looks like, learning to put every piece of himself into a game, learning to have fun while playing even if he loses. man. yeah. kenma.

tanaka's mediocre me monologue (chp 263)

aaaaaaaa. this idea that you may be mediocre but that doesn't mean you can't risk it all and push yourself further and be the best. it's the whole POINT of haikyuu. don't limit yourself because of your insecurities or because someone tells you that you can't do something. you don't have time to waste by giving up or doubting yourself, because there's so much you can do. this is the moment that solidified tanaka's character for me; i hadn't super loved him before this moment and then i got to this and went. oh. yeah. ok. that's really good actually.

nekoma's loss to karasuno (chp 324)

oh my god. this makes me crazy. i don't even have words for it. don't make me think about it. i'mc rying.

kiryuu's monologue (chp 334)

it's just. the idea of this top 3 ace who doesn't have enough confidence to believe in himself learning to "channel your inner narcissist." AND ITS BOKUTO WHO INSPIRES IT. CRYING. and like just this idea that well, you may not have confidence in yourself, but other people believe in you and you believe in them, so don't let them down by talking down to yourself. and like..."it takes everything i have to keep up with this man, it takes everything i have to play volleyball" and playing anyways...i'm biting things .

oikawa's volleyball is fun moment (chp 373)

oh my god ok. this moment means everything to me. it's about the burn out it's about the passion it's about the rediscovery it's about the fun it's about the love it's actually the point of everything it's what matters it's one of the best chapters in the manga, one of the best pieces of development for oikawa, one of the best pieces of development for hinata, i'm going crazy i'm so insane about this moment . i actually cried reading this for the first time. tears streaming down my face. i have a more in depth post about this moment here!!! but like genuinely as someone who experiences artistic burnout so easily and so often, the reminder that what you love is fun is so important to me. easily one of my favorite moments in any piece of writing ever.
