It might be late at night, but I finally sat down to do some writing! I'm finishing up the lore and cosmology post for chapter three of Godhunt:
Foxton’s celebration diverts from both Osling’s and Haulder’s in that they honor the god of the forest, the Holly-Crowned One, by traditionally hosting the Flower Dance near the edge of the forest. The girls are encouraged to “hunt” their future husbands in reverence to the god of the forest. There have been stories of the Holly-Crowned One making appearances at the Flower Dance and stealing away a reveler for their own entertainment.
Traditionally, dishes served at the Flower Dance are emblematic of the flower crowns or the bonfire. Crown buns, which is a braided pastry ring often drizzled with cream or sprinkled with icing sugar, is typically served at celebrations in Haulder, Osling, and Foxton alike. The variations of each comes from the different ingredients: Haulder's crown buns are made with cream cheese, Osling's are made with cinnamon, and Foxton's are made with strawberries. Other refreshments include but are not limited to herbed savory scones, hard cheeses usually served with various types of fruit preserves, and in Foxton, foraged mushrooms and greens; which were typically gathered and prepared on the day of the ceremony. Mead was also considered traditional, but the restriction of its consumption in Foxton has led to its absence in recent years.
New Zealand North Island Adventure day 3: Taupo -> Wellington - Explored the town next to Lake Taupo. Couldn’t do the Huka Waterfall Track due to time and energy limits. Stopped at Lake Taupo Full Moon Lookout near Motutere, Gumboot Sculpture at Taihape, Foxton and arrived Wellington early enough to get dinner. It’s very windy here. Would stay 2 days to navigate around by foot or short drives. #taupo #laketaupo #taihape #gumbootsculpture #streetart #foxton #northislandnz #newzealand #roadtrip (at Wellington, New Zealand) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqAkz-gvljI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
The delights of Foxton. Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom (National Dutch Museum) was much better than expected, informative and well presented, and De Molen (windmill) was worth a quick explore #foxton #demolen #demolenfoxton #teawahounieuwestroom #nationaldutchmuseum (at Foxton, New Zealand) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn8fIOSLzh9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Oh buddy you know I'm going to ask (about Godhunt)
Dice: how could your story have changed if one thing about the plot had gone differently?
Bard Themed Ask Game!
The moment Sheriff Stone and Speaker Burton agreed to cancel the Flower Dance and put the moratorium on bonfires--even if the weather really was poor for a bonfire--then the entire story of Godhunt would not have happened.
Just came from finishing my finals stuff from school 😅
