Quick break from my regular ships. Saw a fluffy post of these three and was reminded of how sweet a ship it was. Is there an offical ship name for the Organa's and Fox?

Anyway mermay for the stressed expresso depresso man and the senatorial couple he has no idea how he manged to attract. I went uninspired and made Fox a lion fish, Bail's a Manta ray, and Breha is also uninspired as a Remora. I didn't have the brain cells to fight goggles algorithm and try to research fish for them.

Fox just wishes Bail would be more mindful of his spines... and that they both would stop ambushing him in open waters. They have reputations he's *trying* to protect after all.

I have queued up so many podfics to post over the next week! Most (if not all?) are treats I made for the @summerpodficswap exchange, and if you want to skip the slow drip of pods and see what I made, you can find my series for the event HERE!

I want to try to make 1 more treat to round off my collection on an even number, but we'll see. As of right now, the breakdown is as follows:

Stealing the Commander pt 5

So, this is a filler chapter. I needed to update what’s going on in the wider galaxy. But ta-dah! Here it is. 

The crew of the LIberty learns about Alderaan leaving the Republic. Queen Breha’s decision starts an avalanche. And an update on the clone de-chipping. I’m not happy with the ending, but I think if I keep trying to fix it, it’ll just get worse.

Also, I added my Fox x Kanna ship to this as well, because I love them.

“So, what are we watching?” Cody asked as he dropped on the couch next to Camma, not the least bit surprised when the small girl clambered onto his lap like it was where she was supposed to be.

“They like watching news about the Republic.” Camma said in a loud whisper, “I think it’s dumb, but that’s what we’re watching.”

“Hey now,” Bug glanced at Camma, “We’re watching the news because apparently something massive happened in the Senate, and we need to know what it is.”

All eyes drifted to the screen as an image of the Senate filled it, “Breaking news from the Senate,” The reporter said in a hushed voice, “Several hours ago, Senator Bail Organa from Alderaan announced that Alderaan was leaving the Republic. We turn now to our affiliates, as to how this is going to affect the Republic, and the war effort-”

All eyes in the sitting room turn towards Fira, who is still gaping at the screen, “This is not my fault!” She blurts.

“What was it you said?” Cody asked, a lazy smile crossing his face, “You have no other options? Right?”

“I…No! I didn’t mean-”

“I can’t believe you fractured the Republic even more than it already was,” Gray sounded so amused, though he was trying to act like he was disappointed.

Fira blushed, “Come on! It’s not like I forced the Queen to do this!”

“Our Fira, all grown up and fracturing Government bodies,” Bug said, as he wiped a pretend tear from his eye, “I’ve never been so proud.”

“Oh, come on!”

Cody laughed, “It’s alright Fira, me and Gray are just as responsible as you are,” He joked, as he lifted Camma off his lap and set her back on the couch. “But, this is going to be a pain for the Senate, Alderaan was a huge source of money for a lot of things.”

“What does it mean for us, though?” Gray asked.

“Very little, in the grand scheme of things,” Bug admitted, “We don’t do business in the Core, too messy, but it might become a problem if this war between the Republic and the Separatists grows to include the planets that decide to support Alderaan.”

“You think it will?” Fira asked.

Bug made a face, “I think a lot of people are done with this war.” He finally said, and then he shook his head, and stood, “Come on, Camma. Bedtime.”

“Aww, but I wanna watch my cartoon!”

“You can watch it in the morning,” Bug chided as he scooped Camma into his arms, and left the room.

“Yes Bug,” Camma said with a small pout as Bug left the room with her.

“I’d better go and check on Juffo,” Gray murmurs, “He’s not the best pilot out here.”

“He’s not going to crash us, is he?’ Cody asked.

“Nah, that’s what autopilot is for.” Gray waved and vanished towards the front of the ship. 

Cody’s gaze flickered over to Fira, who was frowning at the now blank screen, “What’s on your mind? Let’s talk it through.”

“Hm…” Fira focused her intense gaze on Cody, and his back straightened instinctively, “I’m thinking that the war was already a mess, and that this is only going to make it worse.” 

“Not for us,”

She smiled at him then, “Oh? Are you part of us now?” 

His gaze locked with hers, “If you let me.”

There was silence, for a moment, and Fira broke first, her gaze flicking away from Cody’s. “Of course I’ll let you,” She said, “We’ll try to keep you out of Republic space as long as we can.”

“I know.” He leaned back in his seat, and watched her for a moment, “Wanna play a game of Sabbac?”

Fira favored him with a small grin, “Yeah, alright. You have a deck?”

“Your majesty?” Senator Padme Amidala regarded the much younger woman carefully, noting the way that her fingers were folded, the very specific way that her face was painted, as well as the color, and style, of the dress she was wearing. All of it spelled trouble. 

“Senator,” The young woman pinned Padme in place with eyes that were far too old, “We are glad that you have agreed to meet with us.”

“It is my honor to serve, your majesty,” Padme replied with a respectful bow. She had returned to Naboo for the Queen’s Celebration. Padme knew that the Queen knew that she was there but had mistakenly believed that the young woman would be too busy to meet with her.

“And you have served us well. For many years now.” The Queen bowed her head shallowly, a sign of respect from one Queen to another.

The two women sipped their tea for several minutes, making small talk about the state of Naboo as well as Coruscant, and then the Queen firmly set her cup on its saucer, “Senator, I’m sure you’re wondering why I’ve called you here.”

Padme carefully set her cup down as well, “I can hazard a guess, your majesty. Is this about Alderaan?”

“It is, yes.”

Padme felt a chill, but she said nothing, she just waited for the Queen to gather her thoughts. 

“Senator. Padme,” The young woman corrected, “I’ve spoken to my advisors. And I’ve had the people polled. They’re all in agreement.”

Padme closes her eyes, and her grip tightens around the delicate cup in her hands.

“Naboo is entering an agreement with Alderaan. We are leaving the Republic.” The young woman bowed her head slightly, “I am sorry.”

“Do you need me to return to Coruscant to make the announcement, your majesty?” Padme asked.

The Queen shook her head, “No, that will not be necessary. We have already sent a missive to the Senate. Mister Palpatine used to be one of our people, and so we judged that he deserved that much, at least.”

“He’s…Your majesty, he’s still Nubian.” Padme said quietly.

“No,” The Queen said quietly, “He is not. He surrendered his citizenship three years ago.”

Padme sat back, genuinely startled. “I had no idea…”

“You weren’t meant to know.” The Queen stood, and Padme followed suit, obeying the social customs that were drilled into her as a child, “You are dismissed, Padme. Please, enjoy your time with your family.”

Padme curtseyed, “Thank you, your majesty.” She said, remaining standing until the Queen was gone. And only then did she raise a shaking hand to her mouth. She needed to tell her handmaidens. And oh, Ani.

She was going to be separated from her husband for a while, it looked like.

“Well now, if it isn’t the little Firebrand,”

Fira rolled her eyes, but didn’t look up from the digital displays she was examining. “Hondo.”

“You’re so mean to me! Aren’t we friends?”

“We’ve never been friends, Hondo. You hate me. I hate you. It’s a mutual thing.” Fira finally turned and looked at the older man, “What do you want?”

“Rumor has it that you and yours were on Ylesia. Out of curiosity, who’s running the planet now?” Hondo asked.

“No idea. You could try sending a message to the Republic.”

“Bah, they won’t talk to me. But, come on, I know that you know.”

“Is everything alright?” Fira heaved out a sigh of relief as Cody stepped up behind her and placed his hand on her back for support, “Did you find the displays?” He asked, completely ignoring Hondo.

“Nah. Maybe we should try a specialty shop instead,”

Cody smirked, “You mean, like I originally suggested.”

“Bite me,” Fira grumbled.

“Not in public love, there might be children present.” Cody’s gaze flickered to Hondo, “Or adults who act like children.”

Fira blushed furiously and elbowed Cody, hard, “Don’t be such a pervert,” She grumbled. 

“You make it easy though,” Cody joked, “Now, come on. Camma found a toy store, and is demanding presents, and you’re the only one who can say no to her.”

“I’ve literally never been able to say no to that child.” Fira replied with a sigh.

“Hey now,” Hondo reached out to try and grab Fira’s shoulder, but was stopped by Cody’s strong grip around his wrist.

“It’s not polite to grab unsuspecting women.” Cody said with a smile that could have frozen fire.

Hondo blinked at him, twice, and then he squinted, “Wait…I know you. You’re Kenobi’s Commander!”

Cody looked unconcerned, “Wow. I bet the next thing you’re going to say is that we all look the same, isn’t it?”

Hondo had the grace to look nonplussed, “You do look all the same. You’re clones.”

Cody shook his head, “Shameful.” He turned his back on Hondo, “Come on, cyare. We have shit to do.”

“Some day,” Fira groused, “You are going to tell me what that word means,”

“Not today I’m not. Come on.”

They walked a little ways away, and then Fira looked up at Cody, “So, does Camma actually want toys?”

Cody shrugged, “Probably. I haven’t seen her since we dropped her off at the arcade three hours ago.” He draped his arm over her shoulder, “I’m sure she’s scamming the other little kids out of their hard earned tickets.” He glanced at Fira, “I just really don’t like Hondo Ohnoka.”

Fira laughed, “I can tell.”

“Now, where is the specialty shop on this station anyway?” Cody murmured to himself.

“Seriously?”

“What? I just told you that I don’t like him!”

Fira hummed softly, “Hey Cody?”

“What’s up?”

“What’s cyare mean?”

“Nope. Not telling.”

“Oh, come on! You can’t call me something and then not tell me what it means!”

“Sure I can, cyare. See, I just did it again.”

“Ugh. I’m going to email one of your brothers and ask them.” Fira grumbled.

“You can figure it out without asking them, I’m sure.” Cody replied easily. “Would you prefer it if I called you mesh’la?”

“No! Because I don’t know what that means either.”

He grinned at her, and tugged her further down the concourse, “They’re not bad things, cyare. I promise.”

“Ugh. You’re calling me something, like, shorty aren’t you?” Fira asked.

Cody just grinned even wider, but didn’t answer.

Commander Fox, formerly of the Coruscant Guard and currently the Marshal Commander of the 212, frowned at his General. He never thought he’d say this, but he missed Coruscant. He missed not having to babysit a Jedi.

“Commander,” Obi-Wan looked frazzled, “We need to go to Alderaan to talk to Bail and Breha.”

Fox folded his arms, “You,” He said flatly, “Are a representative of the Republic, which means you can’t just land on Alderaan and ask for an audience. You have to request for an audience in advance.”

“But-”

“Because that’s how this works, General. And you know this because you’re a fucking negotiator.” Fox continued, as if Obi-Wan hadn’t just tried to talk over him.

“Cody would have let me.”

“Do I fucking look like Cody?”

“I…am not going to answer that question, because you already dislike me.”

“Smart. Is there anything else?” Fox asked.

“...do you know why Anakin has been in such a mood?”

“Do I look like your son’s therapist?” Fox demanded, looking deeply annoyed.

“Ah. Right.” Obi-Wan paused, and then he tilted his head, “Is there a reason Master Vokara’s padawan is in my Med-bay?”

“Apparently she’s necessary for my mental stability.” Fox grumbled. “Get out of my office.”

“Right, I’ll talk to you later, Commander.” Obi-Wan said with a barely polite bow.

“Yeah, yeah.” The door whooshed shut, and Fox slowly massaged his temples for a moment, before his door opened again, “Oh for the love of-”

“It’s just me!” Padawan Kanna Rae poked her head in, and beamed at Fox, “I could feel your migraine from the Med-bay, so I came to help. And bring a news update before anyone else can bother you.”

“Migraine fix first, then bad news.” Fox said, pushing his chair back just enough that Kanna was able to perch herself on his lap. He closed his eyes as he felt cool fingers against his temples, and he sighed in relief as she eased the pain away with an easy touch, “You’re the best.”

“I know~”

He opened his eyes, “You said you had news?”

“Mm. Naboo and Pantora have left the Republic.” Kanna said quietly, her voice serious.

“Fuck. They’re joining the Seppies?”

“No. They’re joining Alderaan.”

“Fuck.” Fox’s head fell back slightly, and he was relieved when Kanna threaded her fingers through his hair, “This is going to become a thing, isn’t it?”

“I’m sorry.”

Fox lifted his head and looked at Kanna seriously, “My Corries?”

She smiled then, something small and sharp, “Safe. They’ve all been de-chipped, and are recovering under the watchful gaze of my master. As of right now, Chancellor Palpatine cannot reach a single one of your brothers.”

“Thank fuck for that.” He paused, “Anything else?”

“The corruption in your mind has lessened with the therapy we’re doing,” Kanna continued, “You’ll be completely free of Palpatine in a few weeks, maybe a month or two at the most.”

Fox smiled at her. “Alright. And?”

“And…that’s it.”

“Good.” He wrapped his arms around her, “Help me with my paperwork?”

“Ah, yes. Ask the blind woman for help with paperwork.”

“You’re here for moral support.” 

It had been clever, all those weeks ago, when Cody sent word about the chips. It had been even more clever that, when he found out, he immediately reached out to Kanna, who read in her Master. 

The only reason the Corries were out of Palpatine’s reach was because the Jedi Healers had worked their asses off to make it happen. Fox owed them everything. Lucky for him, the only one who asked for anything was the one curled up on his lap, and she only asked for his attention.

Still, Cody was likely unaware of the truth of the chips. He needed to get a message to his brother, somehow. He was sure Kanna could help with that too. But for now, he had a war to help win.

More Star Wars dæmons!

But why stop at only choosing daemons for characters in my fic? I ended up picking dæmons for a number of star wars characters (with a little help from a friend), regardless of whether those characters actually appear in any of my stories. 

Some of these dæmons may show up in future installments of the Animalis series, others are just my personal headcanons. If you’d like to use any of these choices in your own story, I would be delighted.

Lando’s daemon Celeste is a starling; I picked an African starling because they match! 

Although most Togrutas have secretary bird dæmons, Ahsoka’s dæmon is the convor Morai 

Bail has a grey vulpex (fox) dæmon named Ysabelle

Breha’s Matteo is a Iberian red deer 

Hondo has a Malabar giant squirrel 

Maul’s dæmon is a firefly 

Jango and Boba Fett both have Jackal dæmons

Winter Retrac/Celchu has a white luna moth dæmon

Teneniel Djo’s dæmon is a tooka
