Help me to understand...

What is the difference between otherkin and theirans?? With my old Tumbler account years ago, I used to do a lot of otherkin stuff, but that was a long time ago. Help me understand what the hell is the difference? Like, is it just a different name or something because I keep seeing kids gatekeep theirans and how they physically believe they are animals and not people, and that you can't believe in reincarnation..... also saying you can't believe you were once a now extinct species.

I remember this scene from Bambi when flower uses his tail as a blanket and now this is the only thing occupying my mind. I NEED to curl up in my little den with my big fluffy tail. Alas this human flesh does trap me so.
