know what, i'm proud enough of my first fiesta clear/first time beating FFV at all that i want this on my blog lmao
i've only ever watched people doing the four job fiesta from a distance and have been meaning to play through ff5 on my own for years, but i kept petering out around the third crystal at the latest. part of my problem was definitely decision paralysis, so having fiesta just say "these are the jobs you can use" was legitimately helpful. even if i began to resent geomancer by the end. (i almost resented time mage to the end but then spamming Quick let me do fucking anything against ned so that ruled lol) also helpful: playing alongside friends doing their own runs with their own hilarious bullshit to deal with.
this was a lot of fun. FFV is a lot of fun!! glad i finally made it through. and now i'm curious about a more completionist non-fiesta run and actually experiencing the full breadth of the game lol

Just some drawings I did during the summer for this year's Four Job Fiesta, which is basically an annual event where participants play a challenge run of Final Fantasy V using only four randomly generated job classes for the entire game. After finishing up two sets of drawings of the actual FF5 characters in different classes, I decided to do a couple of sets for the Deltarune cast! This is the first set. Kris: Dancer Susie: Beastmaster Ralsei: Bard Noelle: Time Mage Lancer: Dragoon
I know they're not great, but I hope you all like them, anyway!

Yippeeeeee! First run done!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and a hell of a fuckin opening run it was too. HIGHLY mid job distribution, save for of course mystic knight who was the hard carry here. I do have to give red mage props though, it might be the weakest of the mages but i'll be damned if having dualcast raise didn't save my bacon. I also for sure wouldn't have gotten the Shin kill without it.
... this party might be able to beat omega, but it'd have to be. you know. Fair. and I don't think I see myself ever raising my levels too far beyond 30 in a given run.
Anyway, all in all an interesting run if a bit annoying at times, and a fantastic little rust shaker after a years-long slump. I wasn't going to do any more runs this year, but with dawntrail going into EA tomorrow, and me deciding i absolutely NEEDED to start levelling a DPS class for it, I figured it'd give me something to do during those harrowing queue times.

It's finally time for posting Fiesta videos. These are unedited and feature the VRoid avatar I made for myself, so prepare for a long video and the debut of pregnant Ciel.
As with most years, my opting for one of the crazier run types has led to me being a bit screwed over, but nothing some intensive grind can't fix!
If you want to join in on the Fiesta run, then follow the link in the video description. You can also donate to the charity being supported by the Fiesta on the same site.
Enjoy!

Typhoon Run: Monk, Black Mage, Red Mage, Dancer
Overall, a pretty good run, although I died a lot with this party from being careless/unlucky. I had to go back for the Magic Lamp and grind out !Dualcast to beat the game at Level 41 after struggling a dozen times with not quite enough damage/staying power.
I killed 161 Reflect Knights, which is bottom 2.5% luck if my calculations are correct. I actually needed the rings for Omega, so I’m glad I took the time. This is my first time beating Shinryu with Berserk cheese — it’s so much easier this way because Hermes Shoes are so strong, and it only took a couple of tries.
This party’s pretty cohesive, even though there’s ‘weak’ jobs. !Red/!Black give Monk something to do, Monk’s bonus HP balances out Dancer, and !Dualcast powers up the Black Mage. (At least in theory — I ended up giving everyone !Dualcast for emergency healing.)
But mostly it’s just Black Mage being all around great.

Hi, folks! I just wrapped up all five paths of Treasure's Silhouette Mirage, and I'm excited to announce that my next streams are gonna be for Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta! It's one of my favorite FF games, with a twist: out of over 20 jobs, I will be randomly assigned 4 of them, and I can only use those 4 jobs!
Tune in on Wednesday, July 5th and Saturday, July 8th at 8pm EDT/5pm PDT/12am UTC!

And here we are! Not too hard since I could keep up healing so easily (I was prepared to use Elixirs if need be). Not to mention the levels, since, ya know, needing squishies to not be dead every time Almagest got cast (I can never remember which part does what and killed the wrong one, though Vacuum Wave isn't a picnic either and Grand Cross 1 saw Faris getting confused and casting Shell on that part). And then wanting OFF anything that could be hit by a Level based Blue Magic spell during Azulmagia.
(class talk under cut)
But I've gained a new appreciation for the Geomancer after being forced to use one. It's also very useful during Neo Exdeath due to a fairly decent move in Wind Slash being the ONLY thing that proccs here. No trap damage in Exdeath's Castle and Undersea Trench is wonderful as well.
White Mage, always useful on any team! Especially if they're not the first class and you don't have to fight all those annoying battles with just a White Mage. A lot less stupid ends than the last time I tried an unofficial Fiesta run and my only healing was Animals!
Knight is a sturdy class with good power. My not wanting to fight everything that comes my way and waste valuable resources in a long dungeon meant I still got the Chicken Knife...but it's not like a Knight is hurting for options in combat. Also, Cover saved my ass quite a few times along the way.
Monk was the weakest link on the team, and whomever was using it tended to be the heal bot while my White Mage used Gaia. I got more use out of it by passing on Focus to the Knight to avoid the Chicken Knife's downside. Oh, and the Focus shenanigans I did on Byblos...but that thing's a pain with any physical party so I wasn't above shenanigans! Kick also did help give us more multi-target damage in some areas.
(and ending is still running because these credits are damn long)

Final Fantasy V: Four Job Fiesta (2023) (Post Run Review)
Version Played: SFC/SNES, GBA translation patch.
Rules: Once per Crystal, a job is assigned at random. Each job assigned in this way MUST be in the party at all times. Abilities may be swapped between jobs freely, so long as the jobs are all in the party. Fifth Job: Upon getting Krile, another job is rolled, replacing one of the original four jobs. The replaced job and its abilities may NOT be used for the remainder of the run.
Goal: Any%
Challenge Rating: ★✩✩✩✩ Fun Rating: ★★★★★
Jobs: Knight, Summoner, Ranger, Dragoon. Fifth Job: Ninja (replaced Dragoon)
Overview: This was a really easy Fiesta, all things considered. Knight makes the early game pretty easy, especially if Doublehand is attained early. Garula is easy enough with applicable Guard strats (I did not use the cheese, and I was fine, but it does foolproof the fight). Summoner gives rod breaking access, which made everything for the rest of Act I pretty free. Ranger on its own isn't terrible. !Animals (Nightingale) is the best healing until mid Act II or so. Rapid Fire/X-Fight is invaluable, especially on a Knight. Dragoon is, as expected, not all that useful, but it made my Fifth Job replacement a non-issue. Ninja broke the game wide open. Random Encounters were no longer a threat (thanks, !Smoke), and Dancing Dagger carries all the way until Chicken Knife (if Sword Dance procs, anyway). Throw is pretty good, too, for emergency ST damage. Rapid Fire goes on the NIN as well. Only real trouble came from Leviathan, because lol double Tidal Wave spam, but otherwise it's a really smooth ride.
Final Thoughts/Recommendation: Obviously, someone else's Fiesta will be different (unless luck aligns, or you just copy my run for funsies), but I recommend the Four Job Fiesta VERY highly. It's a blast to do every year!

Just for the heck of it I decided to try doing a Final Fantasy 5 Four Job Fiesta for the first time. Currently just got the first 3 Fire jobs. My Wind job is Blue Mage and my Water job is Red Mage. And apparently my Fire job is… *rolls* Ranger. Could be worse. Though I don’t think I’m getting Mighty Guard or White Wind now. Dang it.
Anyway, doing this makes me wonder what kind of job challenges you could have in the other Final Fantasy games that use a job system. I mean 3 has jobs delivered in batches, but you’re pretty much required to use certain jobs at certain times. At the very least you need at least one party member capable of casting Mini and Toad. 10-2 has jobs, but you get them one at a time and there’s entire systems based around changing mid-battle. I forget, can you put a job more than once into a Dress Sphere? I guess some versions of 12 have jobs, but that limits the amount of jobs one party member can use anyway so a limited availability challenge seems rather redundant. Dimensions has a job system very similar to 5’s, but again outside of the initial basics you’re getting them one at a time and the limited availability of Max Job Level increases again already places a restriction on what you can be (at least if you want to get the most out of the jobs).

It's time for more morning Fiesta, with this being an actual finish to World 2. After fighting Gilgamesh, watching him lose his job, and beating up Exdeath in grand Summoner-Blue Mage fashion, the crystals break anyways and tosses the party into what we know is World 3 because we've played this game dozens of times.
I forgot to mute out Big Bridge, and it turns out the theme is being copyright flagged by FF7 Rebirth, of all damn things, but it's "acceptable" and not blocked anywhere, so there's no need for me to edit and re-up it. I really want to know when they added that song because Gilgamesh wasn't in the original at all. He popped back up starting in 8, after Odin gets sliced by Seifer.
... Whatever. Enjoy!
