can't believe that skeleman has turned on us, and Halloween Prom is tomorrow.
(what a top-tier UM...we are about to be just totally obliterated in the absolute silliest way. what possible use could this power have outside of bringing us to the brink of utter holiday disaster.)

titan shifter inheritance is queer af and i mostly mean eren's connection to frieda reiss. besides historia being a lesbian, to me erehisu are SISTERS and their loyalty to each other has a wonderfully different timbre to it than EMA: their shared experiences of being abducted and manipulated/maneuvered by rod reiss, also colored (imo) by eren's guilt at grisha's (his) actions and frieda's love persisting. i love the manga panel where eren looks in the mirror through frieda's eyes and he thinks "...historia?" like he is sitting across from hisu in a brown wig lmao
this is why the female titan is so weird to me. surely some man has wielded the female titan before?? if anything the attack and female titans are like nidoran, what if they're wielded by two people of the same gender at the same time? actually the weirder thing is frieda's and ymir's founders having obvious tits while pieck's cart and ymir's jaws don't. or maybe the latter two are just quadrupedal. or what if there's a bit of gender euphoria or dysphoria involved depending on the wielder??
tldr embodiment and gender, trans- anything are so interesting to fuck with in the mech genre generally, and AoT has extra funky queer history/ancestry potential with the paths, frieda eats her gay uncle and then raises her gay sister? come on

I'm not in the dungeon meshi fandom but my sibling is so I see bits and pieces of it or hear about it when my sibling infodumps to me.
I also used to watch Iron Chef with my dad all the time when I was little.
Which got me thinking about an Iron Chef x Dungeon Meshi crossover where the contestants have to slay the monster and then cook dishes from it afterwards. And all within a time limit.
Dunno where I was going with any of that honestly...

while the visual of someone with a personality like weyoun living (in bashir's words) "like a pig" behind closed doors is funny in how unexpected it is, the incredibly deep inquisitiveness (and ignorance of the world outside of the founders!) that constantly bringing home mundane things like broken bottles just out of sheer curiosity implies is very interesting and compelling to me
forever sad that weyoun's massive hoard of stolen knick-knacks and other random junk was cut from the show
that just seems like such an illuminating little character detail

Johnston and Marjorie Tungwenuk Tahbone, traditional tattoo artist.
Tumblr media
Catherine Niptanatiak: "I designed my own, something that represents me and who I am, something that I would be proud to wear and show off, and something that would make me feel confident and beautiful. . . . I have daughters and I would like to teach them what I know. I would like for them to want to practice our traditions and keep our culture alive."
Tumblr media
Cecile Nelvana Lyall: "On my hand tattoos, from the top down, the triangles represent the mountains. . . . The Ys are the tools used in seal hunting. . . . The dots are my ancestors. . . . I am so excited to be able to truly call myself and Inuk woman."
Tumblr media
Colleen Nivingalok: "The tattoos on my face represent my family and me. The lines on my chin are my four children -- my two older boys on the outside protecting my daughters. The lines on my cheeks represent the two boys and the two girls on either side. The one on my forehead represents their father and me. Together, we live for our children."
Tumblr media
Doreen Ayalikyoak Evyagotailak: "I have thought about getting traditional tattoos since I was a teenager. . . . When I asked the elders if I could have my own meaning for my tattoos, they said it wouldn't matter. My tattoos symbolize my kids."
Tumblr media
Mary Angele Takletok: "I always wanted traditional tattoos like the women in the old days. I wanted them on my wrists and my fingers so I could show I'm Inuk."
Tumblr media
Melissa MacDonald Hinanik: "As a part of celebrating my heritage and revitalizing important traditional customs that form my identity, I believe I have earned my tattoos. I am a beautiful, strong young woman. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a friend, and an active community member. I reclaim the traditional customs as mine, I re-own them as a part of who I am."
Tumblr media
Star Westwood: "We still have some of our culture, but some things are slowly dying. Having tattoos helps us keep our culture alive. . . . . My tattoos represent my dad and my dad's dad. The ones closest to my wrists represent my sisters."

National Tattoo Day
July 17 is National Tattoo Day. To celebrate, we present some images from Reawakening Our Ancestors' Lines: Revitalizing Inuit Traditional Tattooing, compiled by Angela Hovak Johnston, co-founder with Marjorie Tahbone of the Inuit Tattoo Revitalization Project, with photographs by Inuit photographer Cora DeVos, and published in Iqaluit, Nunavut by Inhabit Media Inc. in 2017.
For thousands of years, Inuit have practiced the traditional art of tattooing. Created the ancient way, with bone needles and caribou sinew soaked in seal oil, sod, or soot, these tattoos were an important tradition for many Inuit women, symbols etched on their skin that connected them to their families and communities. But with the rise of missionaries and residential schools in the North, the tradition of tattooing was almost lost. In 2005, when Angela Hovak Johnston heard that the last Inuk woman tattooed in the old way had died, she set out to tattoo herself in tribute to this ancient custom and learn how to tattoo others. What was at first a personal quest became a project to bring the art of traditional tattooing back to Inuit women across Nunavut.
Collected in this book are photos and stories from more than two dozen women who participated in Johnston's project. Together, these women have united to bring to life an ancient tradition, reawakening their ancestors' lines and sharing this knowledge with future generations. Hovak Johnston writes: "Never again will these Inuit traditions be close to extinction, or only a part of history you read about in books. This is my mission."
Reawakening Our Ancestors' Lines forms part of our Indigenous America Literature Collection.

10 things every aspiring founder should know and start learning:
Founding assembly: Choosing co-founders, team, equity, etc. - Leadership  - Product Management - Team Management - Selling & Marketing - Product Design - Strategy Formulation - Finance - Engineering.
These are basically for founders in the tech space but a couple of them like leadership, PM, Selling, Marketing etc. is a universal skillset required in every niche or industry. Focus is the key. The difference in very simple words between an entrepreneur and an employee is, you create jobs and they work for you. The one who creates jobs has a lot of responsibilities and to shine as one of the best, if you want to, then all of these skillsets matter. Everything I have learnt till now is mostly by getting my hands dirty, when I got exposure to hiring people, leading them, communicating the culture of the firm, design, engineering and marketing. I am ingrained into every aspect of the company. If I don’t know about something, I talk to experts in that specific area, read books and become knowledgeable to a level that no one can take me for a toss. Even now, I am learning about server less designs and architecture. Although, I am fortunate enough to work with a senior member who’s my CTO but still, me being the boss here should have enough knowledge to make things work out.

#temptation to write about warrior cats is strong but sleepy tired influenced by school might be stronger#some part of my brain that i haven’t used since middle school got activated earlier this week and i just. cannot stop thinking about my fan-#-clans >_< i’m putting actual effort into the world building this time!!#sort of#i just want to make it different from the actual series and not just a copy and paste of dotc#i have personalities in mind for the founders now and where they came from etc#i have a decent idea on how i want the clans to actually become a thing#only issue is. actually writing the story/timeline and making characters to fill in the gaps…#especially with how many cats are usually in a clan + who would come from the tribe + finding loners/kittypets/etc#i have to actually be creative and make stories/ideas on how that happened#i have a few ideas for characters already but#i’m a bit worried about actually putting them into action lol#i want to make the kittypets more knowledgeable on twoleg things because two of the founders-#-have clans based around ‘space’ more or less#and cats in the main series don’t usually know the names of planets or constellations or what a galaxy is#this could easily be fixed by me just changing the clans to be different but. i’m attached :(#and then i want them to know concepts like what music is what ‘monsters’ actually are etc#i want to make them more human and fleshed out since they live so close to them!!#i just. feel like that might be a bit out there in terms of warcat writing >_>#i etill get nervous about making my characters too perfect or mary sue like dgjdhsj early fandom experiences ruined me#*still#anyway. hi.#rainy.file#delete later

i love the hilarious eunuch ranking system by @welcometothejianghu so i decided to make one based on (mostly) REAL historical chinese enunchs!
in chronological order:
Tumblr media
Warring States Period long story short, the PM is sleeping with the Empress Dowager, and he wants to extracate himself before her son (future Emperor Qin Shi Huang) gets old enough to find out. the PM finds her a suitable replacement, and the replacement is attached to a guy named Lao Ai. They pluck his beard and pass him off as a eunuch so he can sneak into the palace. Bing bang boom everyone's happy. This goes terribly wrong later, since Lao Ai tries to replace the emperor with his own kids and stages a failed coup. rest in pieces buddy...
it's very likely that Lao Ai was a ficticious character invented by Sima Qian, who will be appearing on this list later.
Tumblr media
Qin Dynasty
Zhao Gao helped the first emperor of China conquer an empire, and administer it efficiently with his legal knowledge, but he also made the second emperor into a puppet, and weakened the empire for his own political gain. Max points of complexity, but you'd get more loyalty out of a coffee club punch card.
Before launching his soft coup, he decided to test the waters by bring in a deer and gaslighted the emperor by calling it a horse. the officials who were loyal to him called it a horse, and he executed the rest.
Tumblr media
Han Dynasty Jiru, male favourite of Emperor Gaozu (Liu Bang), the peasant scoundrel who became the founder of the Han Dynasty. look, if the emperor has a harem of hundreds of women and you manage to catch his attention, you max out in style points. simple as. for most of chinese history it was fairly common for high-ranking men, especially eunuchs, to wear make up like powder and rouge, but i decided to give Jiru some women's huadia as well, cause he's a baddie.
Jiru gets a bad rap for alledgely distracting the emperor from his duties, but lets be real, history is written by civil officials who have no shortage of professional jealousy and gender/sexuality related prejudice towards eunuchs, since they were the personal attendants of royalty and could exert a lot of influence. plus Liu Bang was already pissing in the hats of confucian scholars, most of the poor work ethic is on HIM. Jiru should get credit for making him marginally less of a troglodite.
all in all he didn't try any court intrigue so extra points for loyalty and complexity. free my man >:( he's just a Han dynasty Monica Lewinsky who got slutshamed by jealous coworkers >:(
Tumblr media
Han Dynasty
meet the father of east asian history, sima qian. half the people on this list can owe their placement here thanks to his extremely though history books "records of the grand historian"
history at this time was mostly "creative writing" and sima qian attempted to give the practise more academic intergrety, he went out and personally interviewed people, tried to get primary sources, and got rid of most of the more fanstastical aspects. however, he was not without his biases and some texts can be seen as allegorical/veiled insults towards the Han Dynasty, especially towards Emperor Wu. unlike most of the people on this list, sima qian was from the gentry and castated later in life as a punishment for treason. he was implicated after trying to defend a friend, and could not pay the fine to commute his sentence. the gentlemen at the time were expected to die by suicide rather than live with such ignimony, but sima qian chose to live so he could finish writing the history book his father started. the "giant conspiracy" joke explained: the chinese word for penis is a homophone for "conspiracy".

"The Law of Assumption isn't a cult!" Mmm, are you sure about that?
Let's take a look at some red flags it checks off...
☑ The founder's ideas are considered infallible, despite the founder's incredibly dubious behavior.
☑ Claims that its beliefs can be traced back through the ages and cites known holy texts, but examination of these texts reveals that they really have nothing to do with the ideas promoted by the founder.
☑ Claims that modern science supports its claims, but examination of actual current scientific knowledge shows that it does not actually back them up.
☑ The beliefs and practices can supposedly never fail the followers; followers can only fail the beliefs and practices.
☑ Followers are told to suppress their doubt and their critical thinking skills. People who ask critical questions are shamed and invalidated.
☑ Fabulous results are promised, such as curing serious illness or becoming wealthy in a short time. But there is no reliable evidence of these fabulous results, and people who ask for it are shamed.
☑ Alleged "evidence" that this is all absolutely true in exactly the way its founder/follows claim includes unverifiable anecdotes and events easily explained through psychology or random chance, and the kind of photos that are very easy to stage, fake, or steal.
☑ Dehumanization. Everyone Is You Pushed Out effectively claims that other people lack true agency and interiority, and are essentially mere puppets you can control however you please.
☑ Followers are "free to leave," but there is still a powerful sense of shame, failure, and general wrongness attached to actually leaving.
☑ Ex-followers report being disrespected, abused, and suffering lasting harm from the way they were treated and from the beliefs they internalized.
☑ Ex-followers who talk about their negative experiences get invalidated and demonized, and are accused of harboring bitterness, anger, or jealousy.
☑ Questioning followers are told to completely ignore critics and ex-members.
It's not accurate to say that the Law of Assumption and its community isn't a cult because it doesn't line up 1:1 with something like Jonestown or NXIVM. Cults come in all forms, and the Law of Assumption and its community have more than enough to qualify. Don't believe me? Then don't take my word for it; start researching modern cults for yourself. The information's out there.
For anyone reading this: If you are leaving or questioning the Law of Assumption and need help, please see this post.
