Can I ask how does anime v midas tie in with anything or it it just for him to be marketed?

Always!

Golden Gear Midas alongside Ricochet Rox and Ready Penny in the Anime Legends Pack were definitely more so created as just a way to market new cell-shaded/"anime" skins in order to garner some extra cash for Epic as they seem to currently have no lore importance;

Especially since Cyberpunk: Edgerunners seemed to be popular around that time, (the anime was released a month before and the skins seem to look rather familiar to that style imo)

Much like the other skins in the game, they are definitely nothing but a one-off excuse and a collectible for some with minimal lore ties - if any.

Anyway, their only lore importance would be the excuse of them being a snapshot of their characters that have escaped the loop (and then maybe ended up in some cell-shaded dimension and then get pulled into the loop. again.) Unless they manage to come up with something, but thats' really all the dirt on them so far.

In short, it's pretty much just a way for Midas (+ Rox/Penny) to be marketed again in a "reimagined reality" aka different style of skin.

From what I've gathered from the showcase trailer, he at least seems to still carry his criminal persona by beating the R.E.M Wakers (Chigusa, Megumi & Yuki) to the vault and stealing the crown.
