£354,680/£400,000
The War in Sudan has created the World’s largest Humanitarian crisis. According to the World Food Programme 19 million people are facing extreme levels of hunger and very little international humanitarian aid is reaching the country. In Response to this tragic situation in our native country, we have setup the Khartoum Aid Kitchen initiative to feed the hungry in the greater Khartoum area.
Our first Kitchen in Al Hitana Omdurman has been a success. Alleviating hunger in the area by feeding 1,250 of the most needy people daily. The fortified stew we provide with bread is not only intended to provide sustenance but to also be nutritionally balanced.
Since our kitchen in Al Hitana opened we have proceeded to rapidly setup new kitchens across the Khartoum State area. With the hope of being able to feed as many hungry people as possible.
We currently directly run 12 fully fledged Kitchens as well as 5 partner kitchens which we support by covering their rice needs.

Somehow, the Carmen Sandiego brainrot has taken hold even though I haven't watched an episode in months (no idea how that happened). So, how's about some headcanons? (feel free to play with any or all if they strike your fancy)
-- Carmen's room in headquarters has two wall clocks, one set to San Diego time and one to Ontario because
-- Player has a veritable army of cousins. Carmen never got a straight number because just when she thinks she's got them down, he'll offhandedly mention someone having a baby or something; quite honestly, he can't keep track either.
-- Carmen is nearly hopeless with numbers. Time zones, exchange rates, converting to imperial units when she's in the U.S., she never got the hang of any of it and has learned to just consult Player.
-- "Okay, that guy at the front desk said I'm ten miles from the Grand Canyon. How many-" "Sixteen, Red. Keep an eye out, it's easy to miss." "Very funny."
-- It drove the Faculty absolutely nuts that their 'golden opportunity' is math-stupid; they chalked it up to something she got from her mother's side.
-- It's not. Dexter Wolfe was just *that* good at hiding his dyscalculia.
-- The one math-y thing she can do is card counting, a key component of being an incorrigible cheat at board/card games. Because she will cheat at anything and everything.
-- Seriously, one time Zach and Ivy found an old Candyland game (just lying around the warehouse, don't ask) and Carmen, who had never seen the game in her life, positively trounced them.
-- They just *know* she has to be cheating but can't prove it.
-- Ivy, bewildered, to Carmen's cat-that-got-the-canary face: "How does someone cheat at Candyland?!?" She's just that good.
-- Whenever Shadowsan plays her in cards, it takes all of two minutes for the game to devolve from 'whatever they were supposed to be playing' to 'who's better at sleight of hand.' Not that he condones cheating, mind, but if Carmen's going to, well, he's not just going to let her get away with that.
-- Carmen as a kid was a very picky eater (her adventurous spirit not extending to the culinary world); the Faculty was as helpful as you'd expect.
-- "Dammit, Saira, I told you to quit trying to feed her that rice!" "Well I need someone to taste test-" (absolutely no sense of taste on Saira; lab accident, we don't talk about it) "-and you certainly haven't volunteered. Besides, this newest formula is fortified with three essential vitamins and minerals (at least, I think they're essential), which is more than those sweets you keep plying her with." "At least she eats those!"
-- Ivy and Zach are high school dropouts, figuring they could get ahead better with racing than with academics. As part of joining ACME they get their GED's (since they require *at least* a high school diploma) and the whole team (plus Chase and Julia) help out and are so proud when they pass.
-- The first thing Carmen always does in the morning, something that doesn't change post-series, is call Player. It's also the last thing she does before turning in at night. She can't imagine being any other way, and neither can he. (crud, they're just the bestest friends, I love them so much)

Love having to move down to the basement to the hardwood floor [instead of the mattress in the bedroom :--( ] w some pillows to lay down because she won't stop berating or screaming at me at 9am in the morning, playing noisy music we both like sure, but seems like a lot rn. But she's being very self centered.
Not getting it thru her head I need to be laying down more and not standing up as much, fucking got light headed and a headache cooking for myself last night and her only response was anger that I used the last package of tofu -- she went to the store and only got tofu and the silk protein fortified chocolate milk. Didn't remember to get soy sauce for the thousandth time. Linguini sounded more appetizing than rice and tofu w/o soy sauce for the millionth time. She absolutely has arfid btw, but I don't. Not like she's gonna buy me any groceries in this time without what feels like pulling teeth.
There's another mattress in the van but it's been in the van this whole time since I think Blue's, since March, Blue was being so nice and got us a mattress and frame but I guess couldn't take her screaming at me so often as she does and continues to do. Only said it was a mistake and didn't say much else. I wonder how bad it is.
I hate how alone I feel rn. I knew this would happen but it still sucks.

[ID: Three panels from Trigun Maximum. The first is a close-up of Vash's eyes, looking more blank, hollow and deep-set than usual. The second is a wider shot of the orphanage's kitchen, with Vash sitting at a table, almost off-panel, and looking across the room at Livio, whose back is to the reader. Vash says, "He's dead. I buried him." The third panel shows Livio's shocked expression, his left eye completely whited out. End ID.]
I remember this page kinda rocked me the first time I read it, because Vash seems so calm, but you pretty quickly get alerted that, no, he is VERY much hurting and angry, but again, I think this is a sign of Vash's age and emotional maturity--he has, sadly, a lot of experience with grief. He knows how to function in his grief, and do what is needed, such as respectfully bury a body before it starts to go too nasty in the desert heat.
[ID: Three panels from Trigun Maximum. The first shows Livio looking down with a heavy expression, saying, "I can't... eat..." Vash responds, "You have to." The next panel shows Vash shoving a spoonful of rice into his mouth with a determined expression as he says, "We have to protect everyone who lives here. That's what he would have wanted." The third panel shows Livio looking grim as Vash continues, "If we don't stop Knives, then all this will have been for nothing." End ID.]
One of the most pragmatic things you can do for someone who's grieving and struggling with their basic day-to-day is feed them. I wonder how Vash would be coping if Livio wasn't here, also needing support, someone for Vash to focus outward on; Vash is better at helping other people than looking after himself, after all. But ever since Rem's death, Vash has been coping with grief by looking at "what they would have wanted/what they died for" and throwing his all into it. Rem died saving the fleet, so Vash has spent a century and a half saving and protecting human life wherever he can. Wolfwood died to protect the orphanage, and he wanted Knives stopped because he knew what a danger Knives was to all humans, including his kids; Vash already knew that Knives needed stopped, but I wonder how much Wolfwood's loss fortified Vash, who we know has always been hesitant to actually kill his brother and doesn't really know what he's going to do in the inevitable upcoming confrontation. His coping mechanisms show signs of being well-worn, that he's experienced with coping with loss, though that doesn't necessarily mean that all of his coping mechanisms are particularly healthy. Eating is good, overeating less so (though how much of an actual health risk that is to an independent plant and an augmented human with a likely jacked-up metabolism is debatable). Vash, you know those you've loved and lost would have wanted you to live and be happy too, right?
#Trigun#This is rambling but Vash and grief are portrayed in such a fascinating way in the manga imo#He's been here before#likely many times#he has mechanisms he has processes#but that doesn't mean he isn't hurting
