#forever really sad about jason

Text
it makes me really sad that like, canonically we don't really know what jason's personal hobbies or interests are (and if it's because i'm missing something please feel free to correct me). like he came in bursting in not knowing shit about himself, and we go along the ride and we learn what kind of person he is, and how he relates to other people and how he always tries to be upstanding and do the best thing and his hopes and dreams for the future. but his hopes and dreams for the future (integrating romans and greeks, advocating for change in the legion, becoming pontifex maximus and building temples and shrines to minor gods and goddesses around the country) are almost all about other people.
what does jason like? what's he doing on his off time for fun when he's not in school or doing activities in camp/legion? he and reyna used to talk a lot about diocletian because he's their favorite roman emperor. what stupid dumb thing does he like that's not related to trying to make the legion a better place? just stargazing and brownies?
hazel's a horse girl, leo has fun tinkering, frank likes geek shit, piper used to steal for attention and loves hearing cherokee stories, annabeth likes nerd shit, we know so much about percy already...what does Jason like????? lacrosse?? drawing? he's good at drawing but is it canon that he likes it?
it's just so sad that jason's whole arc was trying to find parts of himself that wasn't tied to his demigod identity of being jupiter's son and we never got to see him actually discovering mundane parts of himself that isn't tied to his duties and responsibilities.
edit: this is why i like jason being a little bit pathetic, because it strips away his perfect golden boy image, and lets him just be himself without the strappings of jupiter's son, praetor, peace maker between camps etc

Batboys Toxic Traits Headcanons
because no one is perfect, i wanted to get a little dirty with it and imagine what the boys are like when they're a little... too obsessed with you.
tw for romanticizing possessive, obsessive, jealous, aggressive actions haha xoxo
Jason Todd
- scary dog privileges wherever you go with jace, but he is ALL bite with one and only one warning bark.
- when a hand that isn't his brushes your thigh in a club, fingers get broken. when a cat caller thinks his compliment just has to be said to you, he most likely won't be able to speak again for weeks. And god forbid any villain try to use you as bait for jason, they've all learned if they value their life to never touch you. He's all for justice not vengeance until anyone tries to mess with you, then those words always get mixed up in his head.
- sometimes you cant even complain about people, they end up getting randomly harassed by a certain someone until they just move town
- jason is adamant as long as he's alive there won't be a problem of yours he can't solve with a little violence
- your biggest problem is that he struggles to let you have guy friends, obviously the ones he knows especially fellow heroes are more than fine, but he's been known to burst blood vessels when he sees you close and person with men he's never met
- he's proud of it too: "let another man try and touch y/n, it's been a slow night for me." or "i just don't get why you need him as a friend when you have me, myself, and i"
Tim Drake
- tim gets... obsessive.
- he tends to fall hard but with you he brought the house down with him
- before you were officially his he had hacked every security camera in the city to have eyes on you at any given moment
- both for your safety and his own maniacal flirting strategy: you admire shoes but frown at the price tag? tim's buying you the matching bag to go with the shoes he bought the second you looked at them.
- before you knew how insanely in love with you he was, you truly thought he was a mind reader
- well he kind of was, seeing as he scrolled through your search history every night to know which talking points to bring up with you
- once you finally fell for him and set some stronger boundaries he still occasionally found himself double checking your location when you weren't by his side, or lazily purchasing every item on your pinterest boards, he just can't help but dote on you
Damian Wayne
- damian doesn't really get close to people, but as always you were his exception
- however, this means his list of people to hang out with is extremely short, and he saw no problem in wanting to be around you wherever you went whenever he could
- like a kind of tall, dark, and brooding puppy, he quietly followed you everywhere, and when you strictly told him he couldn't follow along, you always noticed a perched shadow just a few building away
- eventually you got used to rolling over to damian coolly watching you sleep or patiently waiting to pick you up from your classes/job, happy just to walk you to your car
- just like jason, damian had a brutal and heartless style of problem-solving when it came to anyone giving you trouble
- too often you found yourself standing in between his rage a massive mistake whether it was nearly assaulting a friend of yours who tried to ask you out or threatening to buy out your entire workplace when you didn't get the promotion you wanted
- forever cooling his rage was worth having his adoration though, and you were happy to have your overbearing shadow follow you throughout your days
Dick Grayson
- for such a bubbly leader, dick often struggled with communication
- always used to bearing his problems alone youd spent too many nights tracking down your own boyfriend only to beg him to tell you what's wrong
- he never understood that you didn't always want to solve his problems, but hold his sadness or hurt with him
- it was the worst when he was upset with you, whether it was jealously or insecurity that crept into his mind
- he'd take off in a rush hoping you wouldn't notice but you always did, either hunting him down or simply waiting with open arms for him to come home
- it would take years to teach your traveling-circus-raised boyfriend that you weren't going anywhere, ever.
- but, this made for many heartfelt nights where he held you and promised you the world, as if you'd opened him up in a way no one else could, pulling forward the most magical and loving side of your sweet boy

Something I will forever be lokey kinda pissed about is the fact that Joker Jr was, and will not be, canon. It is one of the best storylines and plots out there, and it was made for a singular movie.
Just think of all the plot it could bring, all the trauma. It would also bring Tim some type of recognition because when you ask a person about all the Robins, they have something to say about all of them: Dick was the first and he's Nightwing, Jason died and now he's a crime boss, Damian is the biological child and was an assassin. But when you ask about Tim, all they can really say is that he's the smart one.
People only really begin seeing Tim as a good Robin once they read Young Justice or Red Robin. Which is why Joker Jr. would have been one of the best paths they could have gone down for him because instead of him being known as the smart one, he would have been known as the one that survived.
And think about how it would further his plot and character relationships. His and Bruce's relationship would be even more torn, enhancing just how out of place Tim feels and how differently Bruce treats him. Jason and Tim's relationship would be enhanced over the trauma bonding, and it would also even help with Jason's arc after he finds out yet another Robin was hurt. Him and Damian would get an understanding of each other because both of them are trying to escape a sour past.
Joker Jr. should have been canon for Tim because it would have furthered so many aspects of both him and his family, and the only reason why it's not is because DC are cowards and apparently can't appreciate a good plot.
I am forever sad because of this.

We ain't angry at you, love You're the greatest thing we've lost
Warnings: older sister syndrome, angst, mentions of Jason’s death (seriously Lou not every fic), hurt/comfort, all platonic
Stick Season (We'll All Be Here Forever)
Tumblr media
The letter in your hands felt far heavier than the small envelope of papers should have felt. You knew already what it said, what it meant and by god it was tempting to just shove it into your desk drawer and forget about it.
But you couldn’t forget, not when the words inked on those white pages meant that you could finally follow your dreams. Your thumb traced along the emblem at the top right corner of the letter as you read over the excited paragraph of acceptance yet again. It was a spur of the moment thing, a brief lapse into insanity when everything got to be too much and now, the consequences had come.
Could you go? Could you really leave all this behind and do the things you’ve always wanted to do? The seed of hope began to sprout in your chest, slowly weaving through the years of responsibility and obligation you had used to bury it as deep as you could.
But then, you heard muffled arguments through your bedroom door, seeping in like a thick fog. It brushed against your feet, sending a freezing chill through your body. It licked at your fingertips until you couldn’t stand the cold.
Quickly, you shoved the envelope and the letter into the bottom of your trashcan and stood. “What are you fuckheads fighting about this time?” Your siblings responded with more shouting and as you left your bedroom, you doused that little bit of hope with the poison of your duty.
——————
“What did you want to be when you grew up?” The question hung in the stale air for a moment, looming over you as you worked on sharpening Damian’s favourite sword. Your father was sitting at the massive wall of screens, wearing all of his uniform except for the cowl. A pensive look on his face, he seemingly couldn’t meet your eyes.
“A dinosaur cowboy rockstar.” You snipped back. The letter flashed through your mind but disappeared quickly enough with another pull of the blade against the sharpening stone. Bruce’s brow furrowed.
“You know that’s not what I meant.” You sighed heavily through your nose as your shoulders tensed with the blowout that was about to happen. His eyes pierced into you, watching you with that same bit of intensity they had the first time you donned the Robin suit.
The leather hilt of the blade creaked with the strength of your grip and the cave settled into a tense silence. But you couldn’t feel that anger that you used to when he asked that question any time before, all you felt was that overwhelming, devastating sadness of what your life could have been.
The first time was when Dick left; Bruce wanted comfort, to know that what he had condemned you and your brother to do was right. You had swallowed down that anger, the urge to scream at him and blame him for everything in favour of telling him exactly what he wanted to hear. “I’ve always wanted to help people and being Robin was the best thing I could be.”
It was after Jason’s funeral when he asked next. Your eyes were still swollen with your tears, your shirt ruined from where Dick had been clinging to you and the bruises from the explosion that took your little brother not yet healed. You had refused to answer him, just telling him to get some rest and that the mantle of Batman would be yours until Alfred determined him fit for the field once more.
You supposed this time had been brought on by Tim’s departure to college barely a week ago. The house was noticeably dimmer without the boy genius and it had quite obviously been affecting your father. You nor Dick or Jason ever got the chance to go to college so it was a massive change.
The bite of your nails into the palm of your hand brought you back into focus where your father was watching you, unblinking. Bruce was a patient man, you’ll give him that.
“Why exactly does it matter? I have a job to do here- protect my brothers, protect the city, protect you in that order, just like you taught me.” His flinch was almost imperceptible to the untrained eye but you were far from untrained.
“Is that really what you want out of your life?” He was probing for something and you didn’t really care. The blade slid easily back into its sheath as you approached the wall of weaponry behind you.
“What I may want isn’t relevant here, I’m doing what I can- is that enough for you?” With more force than necessary, you slammed the sword into place, turning your back on your father. “I have shit to do, call me if you need backup.”
——————
You had been avoiding your room like the plague for three days now. Each time you stepped foot in there, all you could think about was the letter and how the deadline for the offer was drawing ever closer. The easiest solution would just be to throw it out or even calling the university to tell them that you were declining their offer but the easy way of doing things was not your style.
Instead, you started staying up all night and crashing on the couch whenever you needed a power nap. You weren’t dense enough to think that your family hadn’t noticed your change in behaviour but they at least didn’t mention it and you were grateful for that.
“Hey Dams, I need you for a second.” Ever eager to avoid his homework, your youngest brother perked up, his undivided attention now firmly on you. You chuckled softly. “Can you go grab my charger from my room, it should be on my desk.”
“Tt, so forgetful.” He muttered but obeyed anyway, leaving you smiling softly as you returned to your book.
You hadn’t noticed how long he had been gone until it was Jason that strolled into your father’s office. Still donned in his leather jacket, hair still damp from the rain that had only just started, he looked like a mess. “I thought you vowed never to come back.” You quipped.
“Har har, you’re still annoying as shit I see.” But even with his harsh tone, Jason plopped himself next to you on the couch and leaned his head on your shoulder. “Are you ever gonna get outta here?”
Your eyes flicked to your not so little brother. “Why is everyone asking me that, I mean if you want me to move out, I can.” You brushed off with a laugh.
“You don’t have to stay y’a know, you can go if you want. No one would be angry at you.” Your heart clenched painfully in your chest. That little seedling of hope began to come back to life once again, tentatively putting out roots.
“Where would I go Jay-bird?” He shook his head, forcing his face into your neck just like he would do when he was little.
“Anywhere, somewhere far from here.”
“But then who would be around to protect you Robins hm?”
“We aren’t little anymore, we can take care of ourselves.” You wrapped an arm around his broad shoulders and kissed the top of his head. Before you could respond, the office door opened once more and most of the rest of your family filed in.
Each of them looked haunted and almost withdrawn, save for Damian who angrily stomped over to you, and shoved Jason off of you so he could crawl onto your lap. “Who died?” You let your youngest brother wrap your arms around him as you made eye contact with your father.
But it was Dick that stepped forward, a piece of paper in his hands. “Why didn’t you tell us?” His voice shook with that unique mixture of rage and heartbreak that it seemed only he could perfect. The paper trembled in his hands, making the embossment at the top visible.
You poked Damian on his side. “I told you to stop looking through my stuff, you little shit.”
“Couldn’t find your charger.” He responded indigently, his fingers curling into your shirt.
“This is a big deal miss, not just anyone gets into this university.” Alfred, ever the peacemaker, laid a hand on Dick’s shoulder. “You should have told us.”
“It’s nothing, it was a lapse of judgement. I wouldn’t leave you all.” You brushed off but evidently, that wasn’t good enough for anyone. Dick and Jason scoffed while Bruce just looked like he was about to cry.
“You could go, leave this place and you’re giving it up for some idea that we need protecting? That’s fucking stupid.” Jason shoved himself away from you, angrily rising to his feet as he ran a hand through his hair. “You have a real shot here.”
“Is that what this is, some kind of fucking intervention? My life is my own thank you very much, I don’t need all of you telling me what I can or cannot do.” You tried to pry Damian from you in some vain attempt to get away from the conversation but that sneaky shit had dug his fingers into your shirt so tightly that there was no way you were getting him off of you without ripping off your shirt.
The roots were taking hold and it made you feel like shit. Who were you to leave this all behind when it could so easily be ripped away from you? You were needed here, your purpose was here not at some college where you couldn’t be there to protect your brothers.
“We’ll be ok, you can go.” You shook your head, biting back tears that were already building. Bruce came closer, taking your face between his hands. “I have put too much on you, I should have realised long ago. I’m sorry Birdie.”
“You haven’t called me that since I was 12.” Your father laughed sadly.
“Oh my girl, I haven’t been a good father to you have I?” His calloused thumbs wiped away the tears that you hadn’t realised were now steadily rolling down your full cheeks.
“You were never a good dad.” Jason scoffed which was quickly followed by a yelp as Dick elbowed him in the stomach.
“They’re having a moment.”
“I put so much weight on your shoulders, it was my job to protect all of you but I don’t think I’ve done a very good job at that. This shouldn’t be your dream, you deserve to make a life for yourself without having to worry about all of us.” It was so strange to see your father laid so bare in front of you, freely admitting his mistakes. “You deserve so much more than this.”
You looked at your brothers as if they would give you some excuse to stay, to reject that offer but their faces remained stern if not a little sad. “You can go sis.” Dick nodded.
“You’ve done more than enough for us, I think it’s time that we pick up the slack.” Jason bumped him with his shoulder and gave you a big grin. “Besides, I think it would be nice for you to actually have a social life instead of nagging us all the time.”
Alfred spoke again. “I believe what Master Jason is trying to say is that we won’t hold you back from chasing your dreams. In fact, we are actually quite proud of you.”
A solid weight against your chest brought your gaze back down to the youngest of the group. “Damian?” You knew that boy was incredibly attached to you and would take some kind of issue with you leaving to go study somewhere else.
“If you don’t go, I will never talk to you again.”
“Well I guess that settles it.” You said thickly, struggling to speak through the lump in your throat. “I’m going to college!” Bruce didn’t hesitate to scoop you into his arms in a hug so tight you felt your ribs creak. Damian whined a slight protest but made no move to slip out from your arms.
“Good because Tim already accepted the offer for you, you start in a couple months.” As your laughter filled the room, the hope in your chest blossomed, casting your guilt and pain into the shadows of its petals.
[Verse 1] The only time I got to praying for a red light Was when I saw your destination as a deadline "This is normal conversation, babe, it's all fine" Making quiet calculations where the fault lies This is good land, or at least it was It takes a strong hand and a sound mind [Verse 2] The college kids are getting so young, ain't they? They're correcting all the grammar on a spray paint And I even gave up driving after nightfall I got tired of the frat boys with their brights on This is good land, or at least it was It takes a strong hand and a sound mind [Pre-Chorus] It makes me smile to know when things get hard Ooh-ooh, you'll be far Ooh-ooh, you'll bе far from here And, while I clеan shit up in the yard Ooh-ooh, you'll be far Ooh-ooh, you'll be far, far from here [Chorus] So, pack up your car, put a hand on your heart Say whatever you feel, be wherever you are We ain't angry at you, love You're the greatest thing we've lost The birds will still sing Your folks will still fight The boards will still creak The leaves will still die We ain't angry at you, love We'll be waiting for you, love [Post-Chorus] And we'll all be here forever And we'll all be here forever We sure will [Verse 3] We're overdue for a revival We spent so long just getting by That's the thing about survival Who the hell— who the hell likes livin' just to die? You told me you would make a difference Well, I got drunk and shut you down It won't be by your own volition If you step foot outside this town But it's all we've had For always [Chorus] So, pack up your car, put a hand on your heart Say whatever you feel, be wherever you are We ain't angry at you, love You're the greatest thing we've lost The birds will still sing Your folks will still fight The boards will still creek The leaves will still die We ain't angry at you, love We'll be waiting for you, love [Post-Chorus] And we'll all be here forever And we'll all be here forever [Outro] You're gonna go far You're gonna go far You're gonna go far You're gonna go far Yes, you are (Ooh-ooh) If you wanna go far Then you gotta go far

What about catching Eddie while he cries? He‘s the type of person to hide his true feelings from others, we all know that (cafeteria scene with Jason, that’s all I’m saying)…there‘s probably no one who knows the real him. The real Eddie. Not even Wayne. Eddie sits in his room late at night, all high or drunk while playing some sad melodies he has written himself when he feels it. He feels how hard it gets to breathe and how his eyes go all blurry. Not every night is like this, most of the time he‘s way too stoned, that he just goes to bed after making himself some "food" (cereal because our poor boy can’t cook). But tonight it’s one of the fucked up nights. The nights where he thinks about how his "father“ left him, his mother died, his grades and the fact that he‘s been trying to graduate since forever now. He feels useless, dumb, like he‘s worth nothing. He can’t even help his poor uncle with the bills and he really tries to help. But the drug deals don’t make enough money to survive. So when he finishes the last few notes of the song he can feel how hot tears start to stream down his face. Everytime this happens he just feels so embarrassed, so pathetic, so sad. No one ever cared for him in that way, he hates to admit it but it breaks his heart. Knowing that there‘s no one who truly understands and accepts him. The real him. Suddenly his bedroom door opens and he never swiped away the tears so fast. He looks to his, now opened, bedroom door and sees…you? It‘s literally 1am, what would you do at his trailer at this time ? Sure, you two of you are best friends for a while now but he doesn’t remember giving you a key for his home. Your eyes meet his and it doesn’t take you long to realize what you‘ve just interrupted. "Oh my god, are you okay?!" You ask and walk over to him, taking his soft hands into yours as soon as you sit in front of him. His eyes lock with yours against, tears filling them insteadly. No one ever asked him if he‘s okay. It‘s a simple question and it breaks his heart. You see how his lips start to wobble a bit, how his cheeks turn red and his tears start to spill. Your arms wrap around him insteadly after you put away his beloved guitar, pulling him in for the softest bit most immediate hug ever. Your hand finds it’s way to his hair and you start to stroke his head slowly.
"It‘s okay Eddie…I‘m here, You’re Safe. I promise"

Hi! Love your work, could you write a dick Grayson fanfic abt him and a quiet female reader warming up to each other (set between season 1 and 2)?
yes, of course!!!! god, i've wanted to write for titans on here so bad i just didn't have the inspo so thank you<333
talk to him
titans dick grayson x fem!reader
sunmary: you weren't exactly much of a people person. especially since you were 1 of 2 adults living in a huge tower in san francisco, watching over 3 kids you don't really talk to outside of training. and the only other adult being closed off so who knows what'll happen when he decides to talk to you out of no where
cw: not much, there's just some fluff with a teaspoon of angst because of communication issues (they both suck at small talk and beyond)
a/n: idc what anyone says about this show, it's given me so much comfort and a lot of fun and likable characters. so i'm so glad i can write for them as long as you guys send requests for them. as well as other characters from other shows like yellowjackets and etc. also i love dick grayson, even though he can be a bit annoying in this show (that i can admit) but he's hot so ajsjfndmfmf. also, i'm sorry it took sooooo long, writers block got to me badly these past few months, so i apologize if it's cringey and awkward. but i do give the benefit the doubt here because this story is suppose to be like that (also the fact i'm projecting my "bad at small talk" trait here). two grown adults that can't seem to have a normal conversation, like at all
Tumblr media
after the trigon incident you were dragged in by circumstance, you were the only other adult to volunteer to help dick with... whatever he was doing. you didn't have any life to go back to anyways, and you made a connection to everyone else so why part ways and it be unlikely to see them again. sure, you weren't particularly close with the kids, but, what are you supposed to do in order to bond with them? so that left dick in titans tower, but he wasn't as much of a talker as you outside of training.
everyday for the past few weeks have been, eat, train, sleep, repeat on a loop, no 'how was your day' questions, because the days are always the same so there wasn't any point of asking. and you could tell the kids were getting bored of it, very fast, and you could not blame them. being stuck in a repeating pattern with nothing else happening started getting old after the first couple weeks. so, you didn't really know how long it would take til something changed, it couldn't be like this forever.
during this time, you admired the grayson from afar, he was attractive, what else could you say? you weren't an idiot. and you also were aware of his previous entanglements with kory and you didn't wanna be involved in that. and, well... you felt like a teenage girl having a crush on a guy who was going through some shit, so it was better not to bother him.
and not being much of a talker doesn't make the conversation about feelings be any better. like, maybe this was attraction and nothing more? you were aware of the difference between liking someone physically and liking them emotionally (specifically in a romantic sense). but even as you admired him, you learn things about him, paying attention to the little things. deep down, he cared for other people, if he didn't, he wouldn't have taken rachel in and helped her, and he wouldn't have done the same for gar or jason either. people just have their own way of showing their love and care.
but your admiring wasn't exactly subtle. rachel had noticed it when you were looking at dick from across the room, talking with jason. the roth wasn't sugarcoating anything when it came to this, "you keep staring, you're probably gonna be capable of shooting lazers from your eyes." and you knew she was joking around but she caught you by surprise, making you face the young girl. "why is it any of your business?"
"because it's kind of sad seeing you pine for him like this." she points out, "and also, gar and jason made a bet whether or not you'd confess. we have eyes, you know?" and she lightly bumped your shoulder with hers with a smile on her face, "and i'm sure dick feels the same way, though he's not very good of showing it."
"that is ridiculous." you shake your head, "one, i don't like him. not like that. i just think he's cool."
"are you sure about that?" the roth rose her eyebrow, "talk to him." but you were not moving from where you were so rachel decided to take matters into her own hands, she then gave you a push (a literal one) towards him, and now you couldn't run away. all you could say was, "hey..."
"hey." he responded. jason just stood there awkwardly in between the two of you, "okay, well uh—" he pretends to look at a watch that's not even on his wrist, "look at the time, i must be going." and he had immediately ran out of there before dick tried to stop him. there was an silent pause and you were trying to figure out what to say, but before you could, he asks, "do you want some coffee?" all you did was nod. after that, there was even more silence, you two haven't had a conversation that wasn't training related in like, a while. it just felt like you were both strangers who didn't know each other nor were you fond of one another.
"you're just as bad at small talk as i am, huh?" you finally had spoken up. and dick just shook his head, "i don't know what you're talking about, i know how to make small talk."
"oh really?" you rose up your eyebrow, "okay mr. 'i know how to make small talk', what do you wanna talk about? and please, don't let it be training related. because if i have to hear you talk about that one more time, my head is gonna explode." you tried to look irritated, but he could notice a small smile on your face. then he immediately went into the 'deep, emotional' stuff, "you never told me why you came here. you just did, and i'm surprised you stuck around as long as you have."
you answered it anyway, because why not, "well, it's not like i have anywhere else to go." you set down your drink, making direct eye contact at him, "besides, the second i got here, and realized how big this place is and i have my own room... what, did you expect me to pass it up?" and you ended up making him laugh, which was surprising, "what is so funny, i'm just being honest." you were unsure why he was laughing, so you just took a sip of your coffee. he explained, "your honesty is refreshing, that's all."
"really?" and he nodded as a reply. you just sighed, taking your coffee and leaving. it's not like you had anything else to talk about and just sitting there would make it more awkward, so you just left. does it make it any less weird? absolutely not.
you guys didn't talk much after in the next few days, up until you decided to play hero on solo when you see a woman getting mugged by this guy in a mask. it was like one of the many movie cliches that you see brought into reality.
too bad it didn't turn out like expected, where you got shot in the leg. thankfully, the kids were able to track you down and bring you to the infirmary, gar was trying his best to patch you up and rachel was there for emotional support. as for jason... there wasn't much else he can do than just stand watch, up until dick had walked in with a worried expression, and the three teens immediately rushed out of there as soon as he walked in the room. you could've left if you wanted too but, obviously you couldn't.
"jesus fuck, you could've gotten yourself killed, what were you thinking?" all of his emotions were being let out in that moment, it was the most emotion you've seen him express towards you in like... ever. yet you couldn't help but be a bit sarcastic, "yeah, keep yelling... it's not like i'm literally a few feet away from you or whatever."
dick sat on the edge of the bed and started to explain, "sorry, it's just... when i heard what happened, i didn't know how to feel, or express it correctly." he gently set his hand on your injured leg, softly, "just if anything happened to you, i—"
"i'm tougher than you think, grayson." you reassured him, and you noticed a tiny smile creeping up on his face.
"i know it's just... i don't wanna lose anyone else."
you lean up a bit to set your hand on his shoulder, "i'm not going anywhere, dick." you then stopped for a second as you come to realize, "and we just had a conversation that didn't involve small talk. maybe i should get myself hurt more often." you were obviously joking at that last part, but dick's reaction to it was priceless, "i'm kidding. you are just... not what i expected."
"the feeling is mutual."
a part of you wanted to kiss him, that it felt right, but another part was saying how the timing of it all wasn't. and maybe these feelings you're having are actually real. because now, there was something in your heart that was growing that wasn't just admiration, and it felt weird, but a good weird.
maybe when the timing is right, they'll get to it, but until then, your growing friendship in the moment is enough for now.

nobody's son, nobody's daughter.
jason grace x poseidon daughter! reader
part I
1.3k
warnings: allusions to making out, overthinking, i think that’s it.
Jason didn't remember how he found himself in this position, not that he complained, a couple weeks ago he awoke in the back of the bus, with a fake relationship and a fake friendship, since their quest and clearing things up with leo and piper, a genuine friendship blossomed within the trio. now his hands were on her hips, her name was engraved on his mind and he swore that if they wiped his memories again, she would haunt him forever.
y/n , daughter of poseidon, sister of his missing counterpart in this wicked exchange program, the girl that currently was sucking on his pulse. he grabbed her face between his hands, caressing her cheeks as he looked upon her face, how could she be so beautiful, maybe it was because they were sitting on the sand of the beach, anytime she was near a body of water it made her have a different glow to her, it made him even more attracted to her. as she sat on his lap with their arms around the other, the sun was setting behind them and their troubles were miles away, puffy lips, red cheeks and marks on their collars were a clear indicator of their ‘sparring’ session as they claimed. “we are friends, right?” she asked, “above this arrangement, i mean, we are friends, right?” “yeah, sure” he didn’t know how to respond, jason had no idea what she wanted to hear, sure, ever since a that fateful night when he came back from his quest, the day she kissed him on the porch of his cabin and they had talked a little ever since he fell from the sky to her domain at camp, he didn't want to give more thought to his feelings for her, he wasn’t ready to dip his toes in those waters. her eyes looked troubled like the sea during a storm, but she did not ask or say anything else, she just kissed his cheek and got up, jason shivered suddenly feeling the cold of the absence of her body pressed against his, “will i see you at dinner?” the words fell out of his mouth involuntarily, “i don't’ really feel like eating, but if annie goes i will” she exhaled, jason nodded, he didn’t know much, but he knew that you were sisters, maybe not biologically or on the godly side, but the connection you two had was one of the first things he noticed when he arrived at camp. “you know, leo should hurry up with the ship, i venture there’s at least one person that’ll miss you the way annie and i miss my brother” she left as soon as the last word left her mouth, trying to ignore that jealous pang in her stomach and the guilt that settled within.
Jason Grace was left speechless, sure, he did thought about his life before, but since his meeting with juno/hera he had decided not to dwell on the past, he had to think ahead, like a good roman, something was brewing, he could not think about his lost life and memories, he needed to think about his newfound mission in his newfound home and the prophecy. he grieved a life not remembered, but feelings could not detour his fate, so he kept them at bay, training, spending time with his friends (2), sharing information and knowledge with annabeth chase, who he didn’t really know, but respected and feared.
y/n felt guilty, jealous, angry, sad, disturbed, and very very attracted to jason grace, she had selfishly kept this affair going, even knowing that maybe her new friend piper, whom she held a high respect for, may still harbor feelings towards that handsome blond boy, or worse, that he may have an annabeth on that roman camp of his. she tried to forget the latter, even though it was a recurring one ever since annabeth confessed her fear of losing the percy she knew, what if she was taking advantage of hera’s sick and twisted plan, what if she lost her brother? maybe not physically, but spiritually, what if, like jason, he didn't get his whole memory back? what would he or annie or grover think of her making out with the poor roman boy that has half a mind, that she had just merely met and that when she met him, he was dating her ‘friend’. unfortunately, her racing and troubled mind only seemed to calm down when he was near, ever since she found his electric blue eyes, she was intrigued to say the least, and when he returned her bold kiss on his porch, she knew she was done for. he was her newfound grace, all she could think about surrounded him, her mind was in the clouds with the son of jupiter, but their relationship was not only physical, they were friends, or so she hoped, making out sessions were just a pastime of theirs, a certainly enjoyed one, just not the only thing they did as his time at the greek camp went by.
ever since their fall from grace in that chariot to their quest, the trio of jason, piper and leo had spent quite a time with her and annabeth, trying to figure out their connections with each others quest and prophecies, she and annie had grown close to piper, a beautiful, smart, kind and funny girl, and to leo, who was certainly a character to remember, he was loud, pretty funny, kinda pathetic and completely unhinged. she would lying if she said she didn’t enjoy hanging out with them. jason, on the other hand, was a whole new world to her, he was roman, she didn’t even think about the roman gods, he was a son of their zeus (yuck) counterpart, jupiter, with electric blue eyes and a soldier-like kind vibe to him, she did not like him when they first met(apart from physically), as the hours turned into days and her new friends and fellow campers were claimed, they got to know each other, things gradually turning into what they’re now.
—----- sitting on his lonely table at camp, he could not help but think about what y/n had said before and dwell on his scattered memories, did he have someone that missed him like they miss percy jackson? did he have an annabeth? did he have a girlfriend? should he remember? he’d be lying if he said he’d never thought about that before, but he never paid much mind to it, he pretty much crossed out him having a girlfriend at his previous camp when he talked thing through with piper, so no one misses him like annabeth misses percy, and things with his sister were just alright, they kept in contact since their last meeting, so no one misses him like y/n misses percy, maybe he just wasn't that important to people, maybe he was just juno’s champion, he was great and powerful, there’s no need to deny that, but he didn’t remember any interpersonal connections or friendships, at least not like the greek claimed to have with the son of poseidon, he should feel bad, sorry for himself, but he didn’t, as little as he knows, he did everything his father asked of him, and now he has a new mission.
not to mention the weird comfortableness he felt at this camp, he had friends like leo and piper, along with a cordial acquaintances with annabeth chase and fellow campers, besides the flutter in his heart and the tightness of his stomach whenever he thinks of you is so damn hard to ignore. life at camp half-blood was pretty good, his next thought scared him, this place was starting to feel like home, he wished and hoped that when all this confusion and prophecies were over, he could still call this place home.

I think Uncle Rick was really harsh when it came to Leo. And yeah, a lot of people talk about his backstory and that being really sad, but I’m here to talk about his ending and future.
He never found his soulmate. All of his other friends did, (well Piper and Jason didn’t last forever, but they were still really close) but he didn’t. The one time he found somebody, she was toxic and just plain mean to him. Calypso said, “You can’t fix everything, Leo.” even though this is clearly a coping mechanism for his trauma. In the end, they didn’t work out. But even that wasn’t the worst part.
It’s the Jason part of it. He was away for too long and didn’t get to say goodbye to Jason or hi for that matter. He didn’t get to say a word to him before he died. All he saw when he came back was a coffin and Piper telling him the story. This was his best friend ever. And the fact that he not only lost Jason, but Leo and Piper separated very far apart. The Lost Trio shattered, and Leo isn’t getting any happier.

if ur still doing the Q&a I have one.
Tim drake to me gives andrew Garfield's peter parker vibes. Skateboarding, photography, troubled teen vibes, etc. Why isn't Tim an actor??? Why hasn't he made a special appearance or smth on a highschool tv show like?!
Unfortunately, can't answer this one in the Q&A since it's a question related to Tim and not one of the vigilante personas.
But I love this!! I have TOO many unfinished fics but this scratched my brain in just the right place and now I have to stop myself from writing this ahhh
Like right before he confronts Batman and inserts himself as Robin, he's on a school field trip to someplace like Lex Corp, gets bitten by the radioactive spider, and becomes his universes Spiderman??? I love this idea so much!!
And bc of Batman's "no meta's" rule, he doesn't insert himself into Bruce's life and actively hides his civilian identity from him. Tim as Spiderman though still looks out for him and tries to help as he would have as Robin.
And Spiderman is on the scene now helping out, and Batman has to take a second to figure out if this is another rogue. It takes a while but relents that the kid is not a bad guy. But Batman also sees that this is a KID, a kid not too much younger than Jason was when he dies. And after the recent loss of Jason, Batman does not want another kid on the scene. So Batman is actively trying to figure out this kid's identity and trying to get him to stop.
Eventually of course identity reveal would happen, Bruce realizes like "Hey where the fuck are this kids parents?" and they develop a father/son relationship (but bc of how fucked Bruce is mentally at this time bc of Jason's death, sometimes it's Tim parenting/taking care of Bruce and vice versa)
Spiderman!Tim would probably take on Lex as his Green Goblin since LexCorp is where he got bitten. Plus green and tech guy. OOh!! and with Kon as Harry!! Son of the evil guy!! Fits so well!!! (won't make kon evil of course I love Kon, maybe a little mind manipulation arc that made him go off the rails)
Starting to think too of how Jason would react to this new dynamic since Tim wouldn't be taking the Robin mantel? Probably still angry bc his emotions were everywhere at this time + manipulations by Talia (I love Talia and don't agree with a lot of what the writers have done to her character, but yes to an extent she did manipulate Jason to a degree). Jason would probably just be more angry about being "replaced" as a son versus as a Robin. Titans Tower probably wouldn't have happened the same. Maybe more so he went to Spiderman!Tim to fight, but it ended in a really heated verbal fight.
Stephanie as his Gwen!! She "dies" like Andrews, Gwen (but like in the comics Steph doesn't actually die so no sadness forever). And then Kon or Bernard as his MJ. I'm an indecisive multishipper ahh. However if Kon fits the role of Harry, that would more likely make Bernard MJ. (but there is tons of shipping between Harry and MJ AND MJ and Peter so it could of course be a poly situation).
So many ideas running through my head now HOW DARE YOU do this to me. And now I wanna do art I can't ahhhhh

Tumblr media
a little context if you care to listen                                                                          find myself in a shit position                                                                                the man that i love sat me down last night and he told me that it’s over
You shoved a box in his hands with tears streaming down your cheeks, “There. it’s all your shit, now fucking go.”
He grunts a little but stays put, “You know i still care about you right.”
Sighing you start to push him out the doorway and onto the cold, “Have a good life Jason.”
You aggressively moved your hand toward the door signaling that he needed to leave, when his heavy body wouldn’t move.
Huffing as your eyes start to burn,
“Just leave, never ever talk to me again.”
He stares at you longingly as if he hadn’t ended just fucked another girl.
“I’m sorry.”
You slam the door and smack your face in disgust,
how could he have done this to you?
- Three weeks of sulking later -
Robin groaned, “Oh come on y/n! We have to go out and get some, or at least you. God knows how long its been since you’ve been eaten out!”
Your eyes widened and you huffed, “Jesus Fucking Christ Robin! I’m fine!”
She stares into your soul arms crossed and eyes squinting.
Raising your hands in defeat you exhale the air you had held while having a staring contest with robin, “Fine, but i don’t need some random dude to make me feel better.”
Robin shrugged, “Ehhhh not sure about that, but you at least need some weed or something.”
You smile and snuggled deeper into your bestie, “Love you robin.”
She grins and looks over at you, rubbing your shoulders with her soft palms.
“Love you too bean.”
Nights with Robin had been frequent since the breakup. It would start the same very time too, you’d call sobbing about him or about your depression and she’d show up at your doorstep with open arms.
Things would be so different without Robin, you can’t believe you have a friend as amazing as her.
-
dumb decision
The next day you saw her, she came in with a wide mischievous smile and two occupied hands, holding with clothes fit for a prostitute.
“Robin what the fuck is that?”
She shrugged, looking from the outfits to you.
You grasp the thin fabric if your hands, it did feel really nice..
“A little something to cheer you up? We can look like hot chicks, maybe fuck, maybe get some free drinks.”
You hesitated, free drinks..
“Alright fine.”
-
and i’m out on the town with a simple mission,                                                        in my little black dress,                                                                                            and this shit is sittin
So here you are, sitting in the back of the club holding a glass of champagne waiting for someone to sweep you off your feet and fuck you into oblivion.
As much as you didn’t believe in fairytales, this might as well be one.
You scoff as a girl in your ‘friend group’ makes some lame joke about being horny and ready to party, and Robin hands you a joint and leans down to the shared table you were sitting at to snort another line.
You take a long hit from the shared joint, “This is so fucking depressing.”
“Maybe it wouldn’t be if you weren’t such a slut.”
Some other girl across from you shouts over the music blasting around you,
“What the fuck did you just call me?”
Your face starts getting hot, you did not leave the comfort of your house just to get hated on by some random friends that Robin met up with at a shitty club.
“I called you a slut. I mean come on, you got cheated on. It seems like you were too slutty for poor Jason.”
She grinned and you took another long hit.
Damn can this shit start working?
“Do you even hear yourself? Your a fucking dumbass. So stop running my energy your not even worth it.”
Her smirk disappeared as your face stayed unfazed and stoic Your getting fed up with these girls around you.
How did she even know his name? Bitch probably fucked him too.
Grabbing your glass, you got up and headed to the bar for some more liquid courage.
“If the drugs won’t fucking cooperate maybe the alcohol will.” You groan.
Walking up to the bar you had almost wished you stumbled a little. To at least show your a little high, but no.
“What do you want?” A bartender grunted to you, if you weren’t so done with people’s attitude you might have actually cared that he was grumpy.
“The strongest shit you have.”
He took a deep sigh and smiled, “I’m sorry i was a bit rude there,”
You shook your head, “It’s all good buddy.”
He grabbed a glass and a bottle of what looked like a mix of Spirytus and tonic, you tut and grin. “What makes you so sure i wouldn’t like something sweeter instead of tonic?”
Looking up at you he chuckled, “You don’t look like a sweet type.”
Putting a hand to your chest you fake a sniffle, “I’m offended. I’m totally the sweetest person you’ve ever met,” you pause waiting for a name. He smiles realizing why you’re not continuing, “Eddie, my name is eddie. What about you sweet stuff?”
“Aha funny, i see what you did there.”
When you finally tell him your name his face softens, “That’s a beautiful name, it suits you.”
Eddie reaches for your hand, “Would you like to hang out with me after my shift?”
You squint your eyes, “That depends.”
His face contorts, he’s confused.
“On what sweetheart?”
Smiling you put your other hand on top of his, moving in closer to him. “On how quickly you can finish serving everyone else and start serving me.”
You grin while he just stands there awkwardly, “You don’t understand what i’m saying do you?”
Eddie awkwardly chuckles and shakes his head.
“Not in the slightest.”
Smiling, you reach for his collar to pull him onto your lips. You feel him tense up but soon relax and kiss back, “You don’t have to kiss me just because I kissed you.”
He smiles at your concern, “Don’t worry,”
Leaning in as close as he can from across the bar counter, he pecks your lips again.
“I wanted to.”
Watching him grin as he writes his number down on a nearby napkin and slides it over to you just makes you even more horny.
“Text me, I get off at one.”
You tuck it in your bra and smile, “Oh, I definitely will.”
He nods and walks off to serve more people, “Can’t wait sweetheart.” and you watch him the whole time. You watch as his arms flex while tossing around drinks, you bite your lip as he smiles at other customers.
You would have watched him the whole night but robin eventually found you staring, all alone and took pity on you.
“You look fucking depressing,”
Scoffing you get ripped from your spot on the stool, “I’m good right where i am robin.”
You wish that you would start to slur your words a little. I mean, it would make sense after all the glasses of alcohol you’ve been inhaling.
“Alright, let’s get you home.”
Robin may have come to get wasted, but she doesn’t want you to regret your decisions more than you already do now.
She slid her hands under your slick armpits and held you up by your waist, thinking that without her you probably would have fallen straight on your face.
And yet, you were fine without her.
Scoffing to yourself and shaking your head, you push her away. “Just because i’m not with him anymore doesn’t mean i need you to take care of me!”
You could tell Robin didn’t expect you were somewhat sober, she thought you were just wasted like all her other friends. But she shakes off the hurt and surprise in an instant, she knows what you’re doing.
“I don’t think that you should be yelling at the only person who’s here for you.”
She walks away with a huff and leaves you alone. While, you frown and turn away to look at eddie. Who is still serving anyone with the flick of a wrist.
“Hey! Eddie.”
He turns to you and smiles mouthing a hello back.
When you wave at him to come over, he can’t help but feel a growing buz at the bottom of his stomach.
“What can I help you with sweetheart?”
“Your shift is over.”
You watch the confusion fall over his features, “I thought it ends in thirty-” Smiling, you grab him by the collar and pull your lips to his ear. “Your shift is over Eddie.”
He almost purrs at the way your voice whispers his name.
~
You push him against his bedroom door and moan into his mouth, “Mfmh Eddie.”
Eddie smiles at your whining and flips the two of you around, pushing his groin to yours. The making out only stops for a second as eddie pulls at your shirt, you grin and help him take it off.
Harsh puffs are pulled out of your mouth when Eddie latches his lips to your throat, sucking red spots all over it.
“Agh,” You pant and pull him closer to your neck, and push your center towards his own.
“I need you Eds.”
He grunts and pushes you onto his bed, grabbing his belt and ripping it off his pants.
You start to drool watching him undress, his body was lightly toned but oh so beautiful.
As you start to reach for his dick he stops you and sighs, “As much as i’d love for you to touch me, I need to be inside you.”
He grips your dress and pulls it off you in an instant groaning at the way your panties were drenched in your juices.
“Is that for me?”
You whine and shake your head. “It’s all f’ you Eds.” Pushing your head back you moan as he puts his fingers on your clothed core.
He chuckles and rips your panties off, pushing a finger in between your folds and huffing at how warm you were.
“A-ah Eddie!” Your body shakes at the sudden contact, and he pushes the finger inside you making your eyes widen and back arch.
“Mmh is my sweetheart sensitive?”
You whine as he sticks another finger inside, pumping in and out slowly.
“Eddie more please!” You beg and plead as he just stares down at you with a smile.
He nods and smirks, “Whatever you say sweetheart.”
Eddie moves closer to you and starts to lick your clit. You just about cum then, but continue pleading for more.
“Please, please, please!”
Soon enough the licks turn into sucking and slurping. As if he was a man starved, Eddie eats you out like a meal. Your back arches even more when you start to feel a coil in your stomach building up. As if he heard you, Eddie sucks on your clit harder and it snaps.
Your body shakes and your thighs close around Eddies head as he continues licking you through your orgasm.
Eddie then comes up for air, as he smiles and huffs. “Your pussy tastes fucking amazing.”
With a whimper you pull his body closer to yours and reach down to grasp his cock, “Need you.”
He almost growls as you pull out what you wanted most and stroke it, “Damn sweetheart, your hands are soft.”
You chuckle and help position him so he can push in comfortably.
When he does finally fuck you it’s slow and soft. At first, you thought it was just going to be sweet until he started speeding up and pushing in harder.
As you moan he just pistons faster and rougher.
“You like that sweetheart?” He grins when you moan loudly in response, not being about to give a worded answer.
You can feel his shaft getting harder as he gets close to release.
Eddie grunts and huffs, pushing as fast as he can into you.
“Ugh sweetheart i’m gonna cum!”
He reaches down to your clit and rubs, as you writhe and squeal gripping his shoulders. “Oh, Eddie!”
The both of you reach your peak together, hands pushing against each others bodies.
When Eddie comes down from his high, he gets up and grabs you a towel wiping his cum off you.
“Here you are sweetheart.”
He smiles and gets in bed next to you trying to hold you close, but when you feel something other than lust for him you push away.
“This was just a hookup, an escape. Okay? Nothing more.”
Eddie frowns, but nods moving away from you. After a couple minutes of silence, you decide it’s too hurtful to just stay when you’re trying to convince yourself you aren’t good enough for him.
“I think I should just go.”

Helloo I was wondering if I could make a request
Since it's prom season here where I'm at I was wondering if you could do a highschool au prom with Jason Grace (or any other of the PJO boys) where reader(male or gn) Is waiting for someone to ask them out because they don't think anyone will accept their invitation to prom if they ask so they wait patiently for someone to ask them to prom. Days go by still no one has asked the reader out to prom and reader is like sulking in their home sad cause no one asked them out until reader heard a noise coming from outside they check it out and they see Jason outside waiting to ask reader out
Angst to fluff type stuff It would be so nice if you were to fill this request but it's you're choice if you do tyy
wait forever —☆

warnings; language, a bit of angst but turns into fluff. tags; the reader has a crush on jason, jason being oblivious about the reader feelings. a/n; hello! I hope you are very well. This is the first Jason fic omg . I will do it in gn because I usually use the feminine or neutral, I hope you enjoy it and I send you a big greeting from mhmm mars!
Jason was the king of the class. Everyone wanted to talk to him, ask him out, kiss him, or even kill him though those were the jealous few.
Guys like him got tons of invitations to be prom dates, just for the chance to be by his side for one night. But every time, he politely declined – which somehow made it even more painful– I mean, he was handsome, kind, and smart. Whoever ended up with him would be lucky.
And there you were, leaning on your elbows, watching as he gently turned down another girl. This was becoming routine since the prom date had been announced and plastered all over the school. You noticed the girl apologized, and he tried to avoid a hostile rejection. You could almost read his lips saying, “On the contrary, it’s an honor, I’m sorry, blah, blah, blah.” Same words, just another person hearing them from Jason. You laughed to yourself, unsure if it was in humor or despair.
Then you cleared your throat as you saw Jason return to his seat, conveniently in front of you. You guessed that you and Jason weren’t that close because talking excessively during school but rarely outside of it didn’t make you friends.
— If you keep this up, you'll never get a date, Jason — yelled his dark-haired friend, tossing a paper ball at him. Jason examined it with a raised eyebrow.
— Shut up, will you? And really, Leo? Heather B.?— His friend grinned and raised his hands. If you remembered correctly, Heather often teased Leo, and they apparently couldn’t stand each other. But it seemed that was just her way of getting his attention, and it worked. Great, Leo Valdez had a date, and you didn’t.
When Jason finally sat down, he turned to you with a smile that gave you butterflies.
— Do you have a date?
Oh god.
— No — you said, whining with pleading eyes. It would’ve been just as obvious if you got on your knees and started praying out loud that you were the one he wanted to go with. Instead, your classmate pressed his lips together and rested his head on his crossed arms.
— You’ll find someone.
Uh, that was the problem. You looked around, and no one seemed particularly interested in asking you. Your friends had found their dates before you could even suggest going as a group. But honestly, even if that had happened, it wouldn’t have been what you wanted. You wanted to go with someone special, but you were too shy to ask anyone, so you just waited.
—I suppose,— you responded, trying not to sound disappointed, though you knew you couldn’t expect anything from him because he probably had much better and more attractive options than you… oh. Despite your mind’s attempts to calm you down, you found yourself wondering… What if you asked Jason? Would he say no? Of all the people, you’d be the first somewhat close person to ask him.
— Jason — you called out suddenly, a burst of courage surprising you. His bright blue eyes glanced over his shoulder, leaving you speechless. How many had the privilege of his attention? You didn’t know, but you wanted to be the only one. You stumbled over your words, cheeks flushing, but he turned slightly, attentive, until the words left your mouth. Not a hint of mockery on his face. — Never mind.
You mentally slapped yourself, and Jason smiled kindly.
— If you remember what you wanted to say, tell me.
Yeah, asking wasn’t your thing. It was better to wait for someone to ask you. Maybe that Nakamura guy from the other class with whom you had a great conversation about the weather would come to mind. You thought, with a bit of luck, he wouldn’t have a date, and he’d think of you.
So, that’s what you did. But the torment was watching others ask each other in creative ways, flirting to see if there was mutual interest. You witnessed the air fill with the joy and misery of securing a date. Obviously, the proposals for Jason didn’t stop; they increased, making it more painful because he was the guy you wanted to hold your hand at the stupid dance.
As the days passed, your mood worsened, and that Wednesday, you opened your locker with hope and found absolutely nothing. Frustrated, you stuffed your books inside and slammed the door shut with a curse. You might have looked intimidating if Jason hadn’t appeared behind it, making you scream and him laugh. You didn’t understand how some people thought he was stuck-up and serious when the guy was the complete package (you cried internally again).
— What are you doing later? — he asked, twirling the rose in his hand with a raised eyebrow.
— Why? Are you going to tell me all the ways people have asked you to the dance, starting with that rose that some girl must have given you — Jason laughed again and pointed the rose at you so close you could smell its sweet fragrance.
— Boy — he corrected, and you rolled your eyes, but curiosity and anxiety overwhelmed you.
— And you said…?
— No.
You nodded and headed to the cafeteria with him following behind, which you found odd since he was about two heads taller than you.
— Don’t get me wrong. It’s for the same reason I turned down everyone else.
You smiled to show you were listening and stopped abruptly when the dance committee blocked the way with their huge decorations. Totally distracted, Jason bumped into you. If it had been the other way around, it wouldn’t have happened, but he was much heavier, so you ended up wobbling, at risk of falling flat on your face if his large hands hadn’t caught you at the exact moment.
— Sorry, I didn’t see — he swore, holding you tightly by the waist with his chin brushing your ear. His breath against your skin gave you a shiver; you had never been so close to him.
You slowly turned your body while still on tiptoes, and to your surprise, he never let go. Probably, your eyes had stars, and you wore the stupidest smile ever, but Jason didn’t notice because he was focused on not letting you fall on the freshly waxed floor in front of everyone. Because contrary to what you thought, to Jason, you were a dear friend. Now that his eyes met yours, the frustration of not knowing why he felt so different with you compared to his friendships with Leo, Piper, or Annabeth became even more apparent. He could never achieve the same level of closeness with them that he had with you.
— Th-thanks — Nervously, you began to remove his hands from your body, and Jason let go with an apology, noting that maybe you didn’t like physical contact too much while ignoring the fact that some people were watching and whispering, and you were almost melting in his arms.
You gave him an embarrassed smile and watched as the last decorations paraded down the hall. Only two days left, and you still didn’t have a date. Apparently, Jason didn’t see your frown or the pout starting to form on your lips because he carelessly began to pat you on the shoulder with a friendly laugh. But that wasn’t as bad as what he said next.
— Well, if I pushed you against the balloons and streamers again, at least you’d be part of the decorations and prettier than being a wallflower.
And honestly, what the fuck?
You didn’t know if it was the stress of not having a date, the desperation for Jason to notice you, or everything combined with the bad weather outside, but you didn’t have the guts to handle the joke. Because yeah, that’s what it was, and there was no malice in his tone. But you couldn’t do anything more than hum while grimacing. The hallway seemed to transform into the coldest place in the universe and Jason looked at you with slightly wider eyes than usual, noticing your mood change immediately.
— Sorry–
— It’s fine, Jason. I wish I were you to get thousands of proposals. See you later. — You rushed ahead, leaving Jason with his mouth open and a guilty feeling in his chest. He had never seen that side of you.
—Come on, dude! — Leo yelled, slapping the blonde’s back, who was miserably hugging his left sneaker while sitting on the locker room bench. He had worn that long face and slumped shoulders for the next hour. How could he have dared to make you angry before building a better friendship with you?
— I swear, Leo. Their eyes were full of…
— Not that, Jason — interrupted the dark-haired boy with a grimace. Jason raised an eyebrow, expecting something better than a nonsensical scolding, or so he thought. — Seriously, you haven’t realized they’re in love with you?
Jason nearly fell off the bench and bit his tongue. Leo rolled his eyes, exasperated by his friend’s dramatics. If being blind was a definition, Jason embodied it in many ways. Leo took off his glasses.
— Hey!
He cleaned them with the edge of his sports shirt and put them back on Jason.
— Can you see now? Or do I have to tell you that you’re terribly attracted to them, which is why you keep rejecting everyone?
Jason opened his mouth, his cheeks starting to burn, his stomach twisting, and his heart feeling close to a panic attack. Leo nodded wisely.
— My friend, you have the emotional maturity of a toddler.
Jason felt like a creep lurking around your house from the bushes after not seeing you anywhere for the rest of the day. Your sudden announcement of being sick didn’t sit well with him, so he ended up finding out where you lived.
In reality, you were grumbling and pacing around your living room while watching another episode of your favorite show. You reached the part where the main couple finally realized they were in love, and the episodes were filled with romance, so In bad humor, you threw a chip at the TV. The protagonist reminded you of Jason… Jason. UGH.
You smashed a pillow against your face and groaned in embarrassment. You had acted so weird with him that you thought you’d never be able to face him again, and that moment came too soon when his face appeared squished against your living room window, accompanied by a familiar metallic clang. Jason had tripped over the trash, leaving his face imprint on your window.
You wished you could’ve said something better than:
“AHH!”
And Jason wished he could’ve responded with something better than:
“AAAHHH!”
But honestly, neither of you was good at expressing your feelings in front of each other.
You quickly got up to open the door and found the blonde with his hands in his jacket, his breath visible in the cold. It took you several seconds to formulate the first of many questions racing through your mind.
— What are you doing here? — was the first of them, but you hadn’t expected the tone to be so guarded. You still seemed to hold a grudge from the morning, but in reality, you felt worse with yourself.
— I came… I…. — Jason took a breath and walked towards you, illuminated by the porch light with each step until his hair looked like golden thread. — Sorry for what I said. It was really stupid.
— It’s okay, Jason. I wasn’t in a good mood…
— No, please. I should’ve been more considerate…— You frowned, and he took another step, pulling his hands out of his jacket to try and reach yours. The gesture seemed unexpected, but you didn’t do anything to avoid physical contact because, honestly, you’d never do anything to avoid being close to him.
— Jason…
— Please, let me speak. — He held your hands, and for the first time, he was aware of how it felt physically to be with you. He almost felt his body vibrate, his heart leap with excitement, but he still had the hardest part to say. — I don’t have many explanations right now, but I’d like to be your prom date.
The words didn’t have the expected effect because you stepped back.
— If this is just out of pity…
Jason shook his head and reached for you again, this time hugging you. Maybe if he didn’t look directly at you, it would be easier. He hadn’t realized you could make him so nervous.
— Never. You’re the one I’ve been hoping to go with… just forgive me, I have the emotional maturity of a five-year-old, and... I thought you hated me.
You smiled, and Jason took that as a good sign. He pulled back a bit to look at you face-to-face and, with a nervous smile, whispered, “Please.” You had Jason Grace begging you to be his prom date.
— I don’t hate you — you whispered and blushed. — I, uh, like you.
— Thank all the gods that exist! Because I hope you forgive me for what I’m about to say…
Jason smiled widely, cheeks pink, nervously pinching the fabric of your clothes. You raised an eyebrow. Did that mean he liked you too?
— Actually, I kinda forgot to give you a message from one person and maybe it was to ask you out...
You opened your mouth in disbelief.
— Nakamura — you guessed, and Jason nodded, embarrassed, but then he started waving his hands and stuttering.
— But, Please, be my date. I like you too, okay? Who’s Nakamura, anyways? — He almost said it so fast it made you dizzy, but you laughed, the sweetest sound he could’ve heard.
— I thought it would take forever.

this is a snippet from the famous dc! au that started with The Greatest Hits [read here] you don't have to read it but a lot of things would make sense if you do
THE GREATEST HITS - the mai tai
You think you know Jason Todd. Then he goes and gets drunk right in front of you and you realize you don't know him at all. Maybe it happened after the third drink because the bartender has a heavy hand, or maybe because Jason can't actually hold his liquor. Either way Jason Todd is drunk.
He mumbles something into your neck as you are paying the tab. You can't hear a word he's said but his lips against your skin is ticklish and you can't help to laugh. You reach out to tap your card on the payment screen the bartender is offering you while you other hand is carded in Jason's hair.
You can feel him moving. You weren't sure how he got into this position. Jason is taller than everyone you've ever met, and you've met Selena Kyle.
He's nestled his head into your neck but he's leaning into you so much that he's crouching. The screen says your card has been accepted and the bartender thanks you, and thanks you again for the large tip you leave.
"Jay, baby, we're leaving now." you say.
He moves his head, "I can't wait to go home with you. I love you you know that?"
"Yeah I do, you tell me almost everyday."
"Almost?!" Jason slightly shouts.
He picks himself up completely as if he wasn't drunk. As if the three drinks hadn't affected him to the point where he was leaning on you can calling you pretty names and tell you that he couldn't wait to go to bed.
You laugh at his outburst and take his hand. He lets you, and intertwines your fingers. You rub your thumb against the back of his hand.
"Sometimes you don't have to tell me Jason, I already know." you answer.
"But if I don't use my words how can you know? I need you to know at all times, I don't-" he starts.
"You don't what?" you ask.
He looks around the bar and then back at you, "not here."
You lead him outside, past the groups of patrons who either couldn't care less about who you two were, or were too disoriented to notice. When you two are on the curb of the street, you turn to him completely.
"Go ahead," you prompt him.
Jason sighs, "I don't want you to leave me."
You're silent for a moment. You couldn't really believe it. A man like Jason Todd doesn't want you to leave him. Some nights when your anxious thoughts get the best of you, you think he might leave you.
It's oddly comforting to know that he thinks the opposite of end of your worries. And it's sad that he thinks you would ever walk away from him.
You reach up and cup his cheeks with your hands.
"Jason Todd I would never leave you. They would have to pry my cold dead hands from your body and even then my soul would still be attached to yours forever." you answer.
Jason tilts his head into your palm more. He turns a bit and places a kiss on the inside.
"I love you so much." he says.
You lean up and press a kiss on his nose. Then on his forehead, which he leans into.
"I love you too Jay. Let's go home."
The car ride home is pretty silent after that, but not for any bad reasons. You focus on driving while Jason is focused solely on you from the passenger seat. You don't know Jason Todd completely and you're thankful you gets to spend forever finding out more about him.

Echoes and Silence, Patience and Grace
Written for @corrodedcoffinfest
Day #4 - Prompt: Eddie | Word Count: 997 | Rating: T | CW: mention of abusive parent, mention of death of a parent, language | POV: Eddie | Tags: Angst with a happy ending, rock star Eddie Munson, Introspective Eddie Munson, character study | AO3
****
It’s an odd thing, to be moulded by hate. To know that the person you are now has been shaped by anger where most are shaped by love.
He doesn’t think about it a lot, dwelling on old hurts does no one any good according to Uncle Wayne, but it hits him like a sudden gust of wind the moment he passes the Welcome To Hawkins sign.
He does this once a year if he can, though sometimes less if he’s touring. When he first started coming back, Wayne was still here in that shitty trailer the government gave him to replace the other shitty trailer they destroyed. They were blink and you’ll miss him visits, in at the ass crack of dawn to have breakfast with his uncle, then a quick drive through town before getting the fuck out. People still looked at him like shit. Resentment and hatred, squeezing him, making him all hard edges and sharp words, compressing him until he had to leave. Steve says it made a diamond out of him. But Steve’s a romantic fucker so it doesn’t count.
The hate was there long before poor Chrissy Cunningham died in his trailer. It’s not hard to pinpoint the moment everything changed. His mother’s death was like a finger snap; his life has been a collection of before and afters, but this was the first. A happy family broken down to a sad man who couldn’t care for his child, and a little boy who had to grieve for both of his parents, the living and the dead.
His mother worked in Melvalds until a few months before she died. Joyce Byers got the job she left behind. Maybe that’s why she turned a blind eye to him stealing when he was a kid. Melvalds is gone now, a deli touting organic produce in it’s place. He takes a picture on his phone to send back to Steve so they can laugh about it later. Steve doesn’t come with him on these trips; they’re not out and the less they’re seen together in certain places the better. Though they’ve been talking about it lately, since Halford came out. Maybe one day.
He doesn’t really know why he keeps coming back. It feels more like duty at this point. He doesn’t really remember his mother anymore. Just the memory of the memory, the idea of her.
He swings his rental car past the high school, the bane of his existence for six fucking years, and all for nought. There are happy memories here, though they’re few and far between. Nights playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends, preaching his sermons from the dining room tables. An awkward audition that changed his life forever.
Maybe he comes back to try and remind himself of the time before the hate. Before life became painful in an ever increasing number of ways. Before his mother left him in the care of a man that became an abusive bully. (He doesn’t see it as abuse, never really has. Just his dad being his dad and Eddie being Eddie and the two of them rubbing each other the wrong way. But he had a therapist for a while in LA when things were going to shit and they kept calling it abuse, and well, it stuck. He’s a whole new man.)
Then there was that last day of his academic career, a meeting with Chrissy Cunningham that upended his life and nearly killed him. And that was difficult in so many ways, but maybe the hardest was the hatred, the sheer overwhelming amount of it coming from everywhere. From the people of Hawkins, from Chrissy and Jason’s friends, from the police who never really did buy the stories. That was the hate on the outside.
But then there was the hate on the inside. The black hole of self-loathing for being such a fucking loser that he was dealing drugs to kids, despising himself for spending three years of his life as a high school senior, and even then never graduating; he should have been long gone way before Vecna got his claws into Chrissy.
And then, and god help him for this, the hate for Chrissy.
Because as much as he was ashamed of it, he did hate her for a while; it was her fault, right? She came to him, she dragged him into this. If she had never put that note in his locker it would never have happened. He’d have scraped his passing grade and got the fuck out of Hawkins.
He’s long past that now, though.
He picks up flowers from the little shop on Main Street. The owner knows him now, she arrranges flowers over the phone when he can’t be there, even takes them out to the cemetery for him. Perks of being a rock star.
No one bothers him when he’s here. The odd person side eyes him but probably because they don’t recognise him. Small towns and their strangers, a hate hate relationship. He’s been spotted a few times over the years, the odd photograph and a signature. Something he’s usually okay with, but not here. But it’s not worth the blow up so he smiles, and chats and signs, and then he gets back to his business.
He stops at Chrissy’s grave first, places the bouquet, says sorry, though he’s never been sure what he’s sorry for, and then he heads up the hill to his mom. He spends more time with her, though he doesn’t talk anymore. He’s in his forties now. He wonders what she would look like, would she be proud of him, but he doesn’t say it out loud anymore. There’s no point.
As he heads out of the cemetery he turns his phone back on; messages from Wayne and Steve start to come through. Checking if he’s okay. Loving him.
So yeah, he was moulded by hate, but you can break moulds, right?
