today i am thinking about the inherent devastating nature of the song, “one short day” in wicked and how, despite its upbeat sound and feel, the lyrics are meant to foreshadow the little time that these characters have, not only in the emerald city living out their dreams, but together as friends (or potential lovers etc). in the end, they really only had one short day. one day to live out their wildest dreams and fantasies together before they’d essentially be split up forever, because regardless of what happens after this, they’re both permanently changed in ways that cannot truly be reconciled. but anyway

Something I don't think I've ever seen someone talk about with TF2 (though there probably is someone) is a small detail in the Expiration Date video (which came out in June of 2014, for context that's important later). For context, here's the clip in question:

Did you catch something small? When Scout stands up and says he'll do the date without Spy's help, Spy does something he rarely ever does, something absolutely tiny, but that speaks volumes.

He smiles. A genuine, non-snarky smile.

If you were to watch this when it first came out, and notice this detail, I'd not make any sense, really. Why would he be smiling, when Scout is arguing with him, telling him that he's wrong, basically saying he just wasted his supposed final hours on this world teaching him something he's not going to use?

But then, in January of 2017, nearly 2 and half years later, and (okay spoilers but this has been around for like more than 7, nearly 8 years since posting) it is all but directly shouted from the heavens that Spy is Scout's father. And all of a sudden, this small detail, Spy's smile, takes on a whole new meaning.

As Scout's father, Spy is proud of him.

Even though for what has been presumed to be the finals days of their life, even though Spy has taken ever opportunity to belittle him, to tell him he is a failure and this won't work, that he won't get Pauling (which he probably won't regardless since she is, much like the Spy-Scout relationship, pretty much confirmed to be a lesbian), Scout stands up to him. He stands his ground for something he wants to at least try to do.

And Spy smiles because he is proud of his son for learning one of the best lessons he could ever teach him: stand up for yourself when you believe in something and really want it. He never got to teach him so many things with how he never got to be involved in his raising because of his job, but over the course of 3 days they have, he gets to teach him so much, and leaves him with the most important advice without even saying it.

And it helps to explain a good bit more. It explains why the only reason he interrupts isn't to talk back or put him in his place, but remind him that he's got a date to get to, and his smile only fades when Scout just flat out insults him, like he ruined their father-son bonding moment. It explains why he's so attentive, watching him attempt to start the date, and why when he seems him next, instead of telling him something snarky or rude, or telling him to fight better, he reminds him there is someone he needs to make an apology to, and try to give him the space to take care of that admits the chaos.

Spy can't show it, but he is proud of his son.

Anywho, happy 100th post (took me long enough). Hope to be more active on here, and post more things, and maybe even show off some cool things I make. oh and in case you're curious about what his new body looks like, i managed to remember to take a picture of the sketch before inking! he basically has glamrock freddy's model design, except his legs and feet are more slender so he can be more light on his feet:

also... i did the math (meaning, i eyeballed a height chart with freddy's model and put the numbers in an ellipse calculator i found online)—freddy, and therefore moon here, has a bust size of 179.74 cm or 70.76 inches (almost 5'11" circumference).

writing muse: not thicc enough. the world record for the largest muscular chest is 74 inches!

Vlad: I can guarantee he’ll be unhappy — if he survives. Besides, I remain unconvinced you possess the discipline to-

Lilith: I won’t hurt him! I love him. [pleadingly] He understands me in a way no one else ever will. I need him by my side — forever.

Vlad: [amused] Is it him who wants it more or you? [resigned sigh] Well, I’ll hardly stand in your way if you wish to attempt it. But I’ll be curious to see if you’re singing the same tune after you’ve spent a century together — that is, if you succeed.

There are many people who think that the mysterious thing in the Florian Triangle will end up being relevant sometime in the future, but I honestly hope it's left unexplained. It would fit so much with the genre conventions Thriller Bark spent much of its time lampooning, and imo makes for a perfect end to the arc

post-war bakudeku as pro hero duo where deku, having lost his quirk, starts using technological support stuff (like the costume all might had during his fight with all for one) because he is not ready to give up his dream and there are still people in need of saving.

and i like this concept because i think bakugou would destroy anyone who dares say that deku is not a hero anymore due to his quirk loss. bro is literally the first one to defend izuku’s honour and he gets so pissed when anyone underestimates deku and his determination to save people no matter what.

just. just imagine bakugou saying “you don’t need a quirk to be a hero, and izuku is a living proof of this phrase”. imagine him continuing to view deku as his equal. as someone worthy of competing. as his partner – in any sense.

he's just suchhh a weird creature. a doppelgänger with twisted ideals and thoughts deeply different from the original’s. who knows what the hell he’ll do? he’s unpredictable!! and a cutie pie :]
