I really like this photo. ❤️ I need to put words on it or give it a title. It looks like it’d be a nice art house/independent film starring Jackson Wang. 😂 it’s actually a photo from his tour. But for some reason it stopped me in my tracks.

I watched Unicorn Wars yesterday and I all I got to say is not a bad watch for a foreign movie. It’s like if Care Bears and MLP and Happy Tree Friends had a baby

Battle Royale, Kinji Fukasaku, 2000

“1950s horror movies contrast radically with their 1940s predecessors. understandably – they were reflecting a whole new world. audiences wanted stories that connected directly to their lives, to the ever-expanding technology in their homes and workplaces. they also wanted horror movies that played to their fears – stoked by politicians – of the shadows that lay beyond their immediate, personal experience of the shiny american dream (applies to some of these movies).”

Golden Globe rant; because why did "Emilia Perez" win so many awards when it is a xenophobic view of Mexican culture? The question is rhetorical. We know it was because the US Awards have no respect at all for latinamerican stories.
Starting with the fact that the director said that they didn't hire Mexican actors because they weren't good??? When Mexico has one of the biggest film making industries of Latin America. And didn't even bother to study Mexican culture, but felt the freedom to write an entire movie about it and include one of the most important problems that Mexico faces, with no respect to the victims of it.
I had not seen any Mexican or latinamerican that didn't feel insulted by this film. All the praise I see is coming from white people. It says a lot about the way they portrayed Mexicans.
The fact that trans people are also criticizing the way they were portrayed, more reason to believe that the GG are filled with white dudes.

The first horseman, a conqueror with a bow and crown, rides a white horse, which scholars sometimes interpret to symbolize Christ or the Antichrist; the second horseman is given a great sword and rides a red horse, symbolizing war and bloodshed; the third carries a balance scale, rides a black horse, and symbolizes famine; and the fourth horseman rides a pale horse and is identified as Death. (Britannica)
Winter is coming.

i think the vourdalak (2023) was an interesting take on vampire mythos because i feel like a lot of vampire stories are obviously about the fear of some kind of Other (the foreigner, the diseased, the sexually transgressive) so it was interesting to watch a vampire film in which the vampire is not an outside force, he is within. he's the patriarch, he's the enforcer of rules and order, he is inside the walls of your house already.
