Abyss of Time
Summary: In a dystopian future where mutants are hunted, Logan, a 170-year-old warrior, meets Y/n, a 25-year-old human who helps mutants escape persecution. Drawn to her bravery, Logan becomes increasingly possessive as their bond deepens, especially when Y/n’s dedication to her cause puts her in danger. Tensions rise as Y/n grows close to another mutant in their group, testing Logan’s control and their relationship. The story comes into the complexities of love and survival in a world where danger lurks at every turn, and Logan’s possessiveness might be the only thing keeping Y/n alive.
Pairing : Logan Howlett x Female human-reader
Warning : None
The city was a maze of shadows and ruins, a twisted labyrinth where only the desperate dared to tread. Once a symbol of progress and civilization, it had crumbled under the weight of fear and hatred. The streets, once bustling with life, were now desolate, haunted by the echoes of a war that had left no corner untouched.
Y/n darted through the narrow alleyways, her breath coming in sharp bursts as she led a small group of mutants through the darkness. Her heart pounded in her chest, not from fear, but from the adrenaline that had become as familiar to her as breathing. This was her life now—running, hiding, fighting to protect those who couldn’t protect themselves. And she wouldn’t have it any other way.
The group of mutants following her was a mix of ages and abilities, each one marked by the telltale signs of their genetic differences. In this world, those differences were a death sentence. The government had declared war on mutants, branding them as a threat to humanity, and had unleashed the Sentinels—soulless machines programmed to hunt and kill without mercy.
Y/n had lost count of how many mutants she had helped over the years. She didn’t do it for recognition or reward. She did it because it was right, because someone had to stand against the madness that had consumed the world. And because, deep down, she believed that mutants had as much right to live as anyone else.
As they approached an abandoned warehouse, Y/n slowed her pace, signaling for the group to stop. The warehouse was one of the many safe houses scattered throughout the city, hidden in plain sight among the ruins. It wasn’t much—just four walls and a roof—but it offered temporary refuge from the relentless hunt.
Y/n pushed open the rusted door and stepped inside, her senses on high alert. The interior was dark, lit only by the faint glow of a few battery-operated lamps. She scanned the room, her eyes adjusting to the dim light, and froze when she saw a figure standing in the corner, half-hidden in the shadows.
Logan.
His presence filled the room, an unspoken threat to anyone who dared to cross him. Y/n had heard of him long before they met—stories of a man who had lived for over a century, who had fought in wars that were now the stuff of legend. But nothing could have prepared her for the reality of him. Logan was a force of nature, all raw power and barely contained rage, and yet, there was something about him that drew her in, something she couldn’t quite define.
“What are you doing here?” Y/n asked, her voice steady despite the tension thrumming in the air.
Logan stepped into the light, his eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made her heart skip a beat. “Heard you were takin’ a risky route tonight. Thought you could use some backup.”
Y/n bristled at his tone, at the implication that she couldn’t handle herself. “I’ve been doing this long before you showed up. I don’t need your help.”
Logan’s gaze darkened, his jaw tightening. “Yeah, and you’ve been lucky so far. But luck runs out, kid.”
The endearment, meant to be a casual remark, stung more than Y/n cared to admit. She wasn’t a child, and she resented being treated like one. But she also knew better than to argue with Logan when he was in this mood. Instead, she turned to the group of mutants behind her, their eyes wide with fear and exhaustion.
“Wait here,” she instructed them before turning back to Logan. “We’ll rest here for a bit, then move on.”
Logan nodded, his expression softening just a fraction. “I’ll keep watch.”
Y/n didn’t bother to respond. She knew Logan well enough to understand that he would do what he wanted, regardless of what she said. As she moved to help the mutants settle in, she couldn’t shake the feeling that tonight was different, that something was lurking just out of sight, waiting to strike.
Time passed in tense silence, the only sounds the occasional rustle of movement or the distant hum of a Sentinel patrol. Y/n tried to rest, but her mind wouldn’t stop racing. She kept replaying Logan’s words in her head, the way he had looked at her, as if he was trying to protect her from something she couldn’t see.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a soft voice at her side. “Y/n?”
She turned to see one of the younger mutants, a boy no older than sixteen, standing next to her. His eyes were wide with worry, his hands trembling as he clutched a worn blanket around his shoulders.
“Are we safe here?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Y/n forced a smile, trying to reassure him even though she wasn’t entirely sure herself. “For now, yes. We’ll move again soon, just to be safe.”
The boy nodded, but the fear in his eyes didn’t fade. Y/n placed a hand on his shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. “Stay close to me, okay? I won’t let anything happen to you.”
The boy nodded again, his grip on the blanket tightening. Y/n watched as he returned to the others, huddling close to an older mutant who put a protective arm around him. The sight tugged at her heart. These people had lost so much—family, friends, homes—and yet they still found the strength to keep going. It was a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, mutant or not.
Logan’s voice broke through her thoughts. “You’re good with them.”
Y/n glanced over at him, surprised by the softness in his tone. He was leaning against the wall, arms crossed over his chest, his gaze fixed on her.
“They trust you,” he continued, his expression unreadable. “That’s not an easy thing to earn these days.”
Y/n shrugged, uncomfortable with the praise. “They don’t have much of a choice. It’s either trust me or risk getting caught.”
Logan pushed off the wall and walked over to her, his presence as overwhelming as ever. “It’s more than that, and you know it.”
Y/n looked up at him, her heart skipping another beat at the intensity in his gaze. She had never been good at reading Logan, never quite sure what was going on behind those eyes. But right now, she could see something she hadn’t noticed before—something that made her pulse quicken.
Logan reached out, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. The gesture was so unexpected, so out of character, that Y/n froze, unsure of how to react.
“You’re brave, Y/n,” he said quietly, his voice rough with something she couldn’t name. “But bravery can get you killed if you’re not careful.”
Y/n swallowed, her throat suddenly dry. “I know the risks.”
Logan’s hand lingered for a moment before he dropped it to his side. “I’m not talkin’ about them. I’m talkin’ about you.”
Y/n’s breath hitched at the words, at the implication behind them. She had always known that Logan was protective, that he had a tendency to take on more than he should. But this felt different. This felt personal.
Before she could respond, a noise outside the warehouse caught their attention. Logan’s head snapped up, his senses immediately on high alert. Y/n tensed, her heart pounding in her chest as she strained to hear what had set him off.
The door to the warehouse creaked open, and Y/n’s breath caught in her throat as a figure stepped inside. For a split second, she feared it was a Sentinel, that their hiding place had been discovered. But then she recognized the newcomer and let out a sigh of relief.
It was Jake, a mutant they had picked up a few weeks ago. He was young, not much older than Y/n, with a cocky grin and a swagger that belied the horrors he had seen. Y/n had grown fond of him, his easy smile and unshakable optimism a rare comfort in a world gone mad.
“Jake,” Y/n breathed, her relief evident in her voice. “You scared the hell out of me.”
Jake grinned, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “Sorry, didn’t mean to. Thought I’d check on you guys, see if you needed any help.”
Logan’s expression darkened at the sight of Jake, his posture tensing. Y/n noticed the change immediately, a knot of unease forming in her stomach.
“We’re fine,” Logan said curtly, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Jake raised an eyebrow at Logan’s response but didn’t back down. “Just thought I’d offer. No harm in that, right?”
Y/n stepped between them, sensing the rising tension. “It’s okay, Jake. We’re just getting ready to move out. You can come with us if you want.”
Jake’s grin widened. “Sure thing. Lead the way, boss.”
Logan’s eyes flashed with something dark and dangerous, but he said nothing as Y/n led the group out of the warehouse. The streets were eerily quiet, the city shrouded in an unnatural silence that set Y/n’s nerves on edge. She kept a close watch on their surroundings, every sense on high alert as they made their way through the shadows.
Logan fell into step beside her, his presence a comforting weight at her side. But she could feel the tension radiating off him, the barely contained anger that simmered just beneath the surface.
As they walked, Y/n couldn’t shake the feeling that something was about to happen, that the fragile peace they had managed to maintain was about to shatter. She glanced over at Logan, searching his face for some sign of what he was thinking, but his expression was unreadable.
“Logan,” she began, but he cut her off with a sharp look.
“Stay close,” he growled, his voice low and dangerous. “And keep an eye on him.”
Y/n followed his gaze and saw Jake a few paces ahead, his posture relaxed, seemingly unaware of the danger around them. She frowned, confused by Logan’s sudden hostility.
“Logan, what’s going on?” she asked, her voice tinged with concern.
Logan’s jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing as he watched Jake. “Just do as I say, Y/n.”
Y/n opened her mouth to argue, but something in Logan’s tone made her stop. She nodded, falling silent as they continued through the city, the tension between them thick enough to cut with a knife.
It wasn’t until they reached another safe house, this one a dilapidated apartment building on the outskirts of the city, that Y/n finally had a chance to confront Logan. The others had gone inside to rest, leaving them alone in the dimly lit hallway.
“What the hell is your problem?” Y/n demanded, her voice low but fierce. “Why are you acting like this?”
Logan’s eyes flicked to the door where the others had gone, then back to Y/n. “You need to be careful with him.”
“With Jake?” Y/n asked, incredulous. “Why? He’s been nothing but helpful.”
Logan’s expression darkened, his possessive nature rearing its head. “He’s getting too close to you.”
Y/n blinked, taken aback by the accusation. “Too close? Logan, he’s a friend. That’s it.”
Logan stepped closer, his towering presence making Y/n’s heart race. “He’s a distraction, Y/n. And distractions can get you killed.”
Y/ne’s anger flared at his words, at the way he was trying to control her. “You don’t get to decide who I’m friends with, Logan. You don’t get to dictate who I care about.”
Logan’s hand shot out, grabbing her by the arm and pulling her closer. His eyes were blazing with a mix of anger and something else—something that made Y/n’s breath catch in her throat.
“I’m trying to keep you safe,” he growled, his voice rough with emotion. “You have no idea what’s out there, what could happen if you let your guard down.”
Y/n wrenched her arm free, her eyes flashing with defiance. “I don’t need you to protect me, Logan. I’ve been doing just fine on my own.”
Logan’s expression softened for a brief moment, a flicker of something like regret passing through his eyes. “You’re brave, Y/n. But bravery can be a double-edged sword.”
Y/n stared at him, her heart pounding in her chest. She wanted to argue, to push him away, but she couldn’t ignore the truth in his words. She had seen too many people die because they had been too brave, too willing to take risks. And yet, she couldn’t let fear control her, couldn’t let Logan’s possessiveness dictate her life.
Before she could say anything else, the sound of footsteps echoed down the hallway, breaking the tense silence. Y/n turned to see Jake approaching, his easy grin in place, completely unaware of the storm brewing between her and Logan.
“Hey, everything okay?” Jake asked, his eyes flicking between the two of them.
Y/n forced a smile, trying to keep the tension from showing on her face. “Yeah, everything’s fine. Just talking strategy.”
Jake nodded, seemingly satisfied with the answer. “Cool. Just wanted to check in before we head out again.”
Logan’s eyes narrowed, his posture tensing as Jake turned to leave. Y/n could feel the anger radiating off him, the jealousy that was so obvious it practically crackled in the air.
Once Jake was out of earshot, Y/n turned back to Logan, her voice low and firm. “You need to stop this, Logan. Jake is not a threat.”
Logan’s jaw clenched, his eyes hard. “He’s more of a threat than you realize.”
Y/n shook her head, frustration boiling over. “This isn’t about Jake. This is about you not being able to control everything around you.”
Logan didn’t respond, his silence only fueling Y/n’s anger. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of emotions swirling inside her.
“I can take care of myself,” she said quietly, her voice trembling slightly. “You don’t have to do it for me.”
Logan’s eyes softened, a flicker of pain crossing his face. “I know you can, Y/n. But I can’t help it.”
Y/n stared at him, her heart aching at the vulnerability in his voice. She had never seen Logan like this, so raw and exposed. It was as if the walls he had built around himself were crumbling, leaving him defenseless against the emotions he had tried so hard to suppress.
Without thinking, Y/n reached out, her hand resting on his chest. She could feel the steady beat of his heart beneath her palm, the warmth of his skin seeping into her own.
“Logan,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “I don’t want to lose you.”
Logan’s hand covered hers, his touch gentle despite the storm raging inside him. “You won’t. Not if I have anything to say about it.”
Y/n’s breath caught in her throat at the intensity of his words, the promise that lay beneath them. She had always known that Logan was dangerous, that he was capable of doing terrible things in the name of survival. But this was different. This was about something deeper, something that scared her more than any Sentinel ever could. Before she could say anything else, Logan leaned down, his lips brushing against her forehead in a gesture that was both tender and possessive. Y/n’s heart fluttered at the contact, her emotions a tangled mess of fear and longing.
“I won’t let anything happen to you,” Logan murmured, his voice rough with emotion. “Even if it means keeping you away from everyone else.”
Y/n closed her eyes, the weight of his words settling over her like a heavy blanket. She knew that Logan’s protectiveness came from a place of love, that he cared for her more deeply than he would ever admit. But she also knew that his possessiveness could be dangerous, that it could drive a wedge between them if she wasn’t careful.
When Logan finally pulled away, Y/n felt the loss of his warmth like a physical blow. She opened her eyes to find him watching her, his expression torn between desire and something darker.
“We should go,” Logan said, his voice strained. “The others are waiting.”
Y/n nodded, her heart heavy with the knowledge that their relationship had just crossed a line that couldn’t be uncrossed. As they made their way back to the group, she couldn’t shake the feeling that everything was about to change, that the fragile bond they had built was about to be tested in ways they couldn’t possibly imagine.
--------------------
The journey to the next safe house was tense, the silence between Y/n and Logan growing heavier with each passing moment. Jake tried to make conversation a few times, but the mood was too dark, the unspoken tension too palpable for any lighthearted banter to cut through.
When they finally reached their destination, a rundown building that had once been a school, Y/n was relieved to see that the other mutants were already inside, safe and sound. But the relief was short-lived. The moment they stepped through the door, they were met with the sight of another mutant standing in the center of the room, his presence radiating a power that made the air hum with electricity.
Y/n recognized him instantly—Erik, a mutant with the ability to control metal. He was a legend among their kind, both revered and feared for his abilities and his ruthless determination to protect mutantkind at all costs.
“Erik,” Y/n greeted him, her voice wary. “What are you doing here?”
Erik’s gaze swept over the group, his expression unreadable. “I heard you were in need of assistance.”
Y/n ’s heart sank at the words, at the implications behind them. Erik’s help always came with a price, one that Y/n wasn’t sure she was willing to pay.
“We’re managing,” she said carefully, glancing at Logan for support.
Logan’s expression was unreadable, but Y/n could sense the tension in him, the way his muscles were coiled, ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice.
Erik’s gaze flicked to Logan, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “You’ve made an interesting choice of allies, Y/n.”
Y/n ’s heart skipped a beat at the subtle jab, at the way Erik’s eyes seemed to gleam with something that sent a shiver down her spine.
“Logan’s been a great help,” Y/n said, her voice steady despite the fear gnawing at her insides.
Erik’s smile widened, but there was no warmth in it. “I’m sure he has. But his methods... they’re not always in line with what’s best for our kind.”
Logan’s jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing into dangerous slits. Y/n could feel the anger radiating off him, the barely contained rage that was so close to the surface.
“We’re doing what we can to survive,” Y/n interjected quickly, trying to diffuse the situation before it escalated. “That’s all that matters right now.”
Erik’s gaze shifted back to her, his smile fading into something more serious. “Survival is important, yes. But so is our future, Y/n . And sometimes, to secure that future, we have to make sacrifices.”
Y/n’s stomach churned at the words, at the implications behind them. She knew that Erik was right in some ways, that their survival depended on making tough decisions. But she also knew that Logan wouldn’t take kindly to any suggestion that involved putting her or anyone else at risk.
“I’m not interested in making sacrifices,” Logan growled, his voice low and threatening. “Especially not when it comes to Y/n.”
Erik’s eyes gleamed with a cold amusement. “And there it is—the possessiveness of the Wolverine. It’s almost... predictable.”
Y/n’s heart pounded in her chest as she glanced between the two men, the tension in the room reaching a fever pitch. She knew that if something wasn’t done to diffuse the situation, things could get out of hand quickly.
“Erik, we appreciate your concern,” Y/n said, stepping forward and placing a hand on Logan’s arm, trying to calm him down. “But we’re handling things in our own way. Logan’s methods might be unorthodox, but they work. And right now, that’s all that matters.”
Y/n’s gaze lingered on her for a long moment, as if weighing her words. Finally, he nodded, though his expression remained guarded. “Very well, Y/n . But remember—sometimes the only way to truly survive is to let go of the things that hold us back.”
With that, Erik turned and walked out of the room, leaving Y/n and Logan alone in the thick silence that followed his departure. Y/n let out a breath she didn’t realize she had been holding, her hand still resting on Logan’s arm.
“Are you okay?” she asked quietly, looking up at him.
Logan’s expression softened as he looked down at her, some of the anger fading from his eyes. “I’m fine, Y/n. But we need to be careful. Erik’s not someone to be trusted.”
Y/n nodded, though she couldn’t shake the feeling that Erik’s words had struck a chord with Logan. There was a darkness in his eyes, a shadow that hadn’t been there before, and it made her worry about what the future held for them.
As they rejoined the others, Y/n couldn’t help but feel that things were about to get a lot more complicated. The fragile peace they had managed to maintain was hanging by a thread, and she had a feeling that it wouldn’t take much to tear it apart.
And as she glanced at Logan, she knew that the possessiveness he felt for her, the fierce protectiveness that drove him, could either be their salvation—or their undoing.

DRAGON AGE TIMELINE:
This uses the Chantry calendar, which measures time in "Ages." Each age lasts one hundred years; the current age is the Dragon Age, the ninth since the founding of the Chantry, which marked the beginning of the Chantry calendar. Anything prior to 1:01 Divine is known as the Ancient Era and denoted using negative numbers, counted backwards: the year immediately preceding 1:01 Divine (the first year of the first named Age) is -1 Ancient, the year before that is -2 Ancient, and so on. The Chantry calendar doesn't have a year zero.
Many dates given in the Ancient Era are rough estimates taken from various DA sources, to be taken with a pinch of salt. Will likely be continually edited and updated.
This is a LONG post. You've been warned!
-7600 Ancient: Arlathan, fabled city of the elves, was founded. Elvhen cities existed before this, spread across Thedas and through the fade.
-4600 Ancient: Dwarves & Elves make first contact
-3100 Ancient: Arrival of humans to Thedas, settling in what would become known as Tevinter
-2800 Ancient: The Old Gods begin whispering to the humans, teaching them magic, faith in them becomes widespread

-1195 Ancient: Tevinter Imperium founded
-981 Ancient: Tevinter Imperium declares war on the elves, rallying their forces towards Arlathan

-170 Ancient: Andraste dies- Maferath (Andraste's husband) betrays her, allowing her to be captured and put to death by the Tevinter Imperium
-165 Ancient: Maferath grants land (The Dales) to the elves that joined in the war against the Imperium. Those that make it in 'The Long Walk' from Tevinter, found the city of Halamshiral.
-160 Ancient: Hessarian (who had Andraste put to death by fire) converts to the Chant of Light and declares Tevinter an Andrastian nation
1:01 Divine Age: Justinia I made first Divine, Orelesian Chantry is officially established.

The Fates (Hadestown) "The Fates from Mythology act as a Greek Chorus and an inner conscious to Orpheus, Eurydice, and even to Hades himself. Lonely Avatars often target those predisposed to loneliness and both Orpheus and Eurydice fit that description to a tea. Orpheus's mother abandoned him young, and the world seemed to abandon Eurydice at every single turn.
They actively cause misfortune towards Eurydice. They are the wind who blows out her matches, the wind that takes her coat. They take her only sources of warmth and security, manipulating her desires and convincing her that it's her against the world. Her only choice is to go to Hadestown. Once she arrives, they are the ones to tell her the awful truth and emphasize how alone she really is while way down under the ground. Aside from the inherent Buried-ness of Hadestown, it has some properties of the House Domain from MAG 170. Eventually, you will forget everything about your past, especially the things that gave you comfort - only focusing on the work you have to do and the building of Hadestown's wall.
They taunt Orpheus both when he enters and leaves Hadestown, asking who he thinks he is for entering without permission. "Who are you?", they ask, "Where do you think you're going?/Why are you all alone?/Who are you to walk a road that no one ever walked before?" They are the reason Orpheus doubts that Eurydice is behind him - that he's all alone and Hades went back on his deal. Well, Orpheus always had those doubts; they just brought them to life.
So he turns around, eternally separating the two lovers."
Lapis Lazuli (Steven Universe) "A Gem formerly of Blue Diamond's court with water-manipulating powers that was once poofed by Bismuth during The Rebellion. Homeworld mistook her for a Crysal Gem and trapped her in a mirror to interrogate her, but they left her behind as they fled Earth, and her gem was cracked, which is basically the gem equivalent of brain damage. After being trapped alone in the mirror for thousands of years, she was freed by Steven and stole the world’s oceans to try to get home. When she got back, she was forced to return as an informant for Homeworld and locked up for withholding information to protect Steven; Steven tried to convince her to come with him, but she was too scared to join him. To save him, she fuses with Jasper into Malachite and forces them into the sea, keeping both of them imprisoned alone at the bottom of the ocean and constantly fighting each other. Even after she is freed from Malachite, she pushes others away due to her trauma and anger. For example, when she learns the Diamonds are waging war on Earth, she flees to the Moon with the barn she and Peridot lived in (emotionally wrecking Peridot, as she’d lost her closest companion and all mementos of their relationship), and runs away even further when she thinks the Diamonds are drawing near."

on the topic of ved hating the daedra, i wanna talk about rildras (nerevaine) hating the daedra because by god does he hate them.
this is also an invitation for y'all to tell me how your nerevarines feel about the daedra cuz i am Curious
his mother, nedrala, was from the urshilaku tribe. she was set to marry. she was a potter by trade and she loved it. her story is an entire thing, but the tldr of it is that azura told her she could be a hero to her people and play a vital role in the nerevarine prophecy, but she would be an exile for the rest of her life and would not live to see her role be acknowledged. (of course, nedrala accepted. she was a devout woman and an ashlander. of course she accepted. she was exiled, she reached cyrodiil and gave birth, and that's all rildras knows about her. she abandoned him at an orphanage when he was a toddler.)
ril grew up with the good daedra always seeming to be watching him. it scared him when he was young, then it annoyed him as he grew older, then it turned to hate. they were there. they watched their chosen, their nerevarine, their hero starve. they watched him fight tooth and nail on the streets for scraps. they watched him catch sick and nearly die. they watched him turn to thievery because he had no other choice if he wanted to survive. and they did nothing.
he gets deported to morrowind because he got caught robbing someone. great. azura (who, worth remembering, is his other mother) comes to him. tells him of the prophecy. he spits at her. "fuck your prophecy. what have you ever done for me? this isn't my homeland. this isn't my fight. fuck you."
but his role was ordained. and sure enough, the prophecy is fulfilled with the good daedra watching. watching, watching, watching. he does what fate has forced him to do. he tries to fight back in any way he can. he weeps for ayem, he weeps for seht, he weeps in front of vehk. he marries dagoth ur and kills him the same day. he kneels in front of the heart, sobbing, and curses the daedra for all they're worth. their fucking prophecy is fulfilled and his life is ruined. are they happy? is it enough? is this what nerevar would have wanted to have become? is this what anyone would want to become?
he has vedyra. the daedra watch. he stands guard over his daughter like a guard dog. teeth bared, weapons drawn. "i've killed a god before, don't make me do it again. don't think i won't find a way." he raises her as normal as he can and teaches her to never trust the daedra. never rely on the daedra for anything. never turn your back on them. never, never, never. he tells her what they did to him, to his mother, to her other father, to the world.
she grows up. she doesn't trust the daedra. she listens--for a time. but she is a deeply curious child and there are answers she cannot find. she turns to hermaeus mora. she is cautious, she never lets him close, never turns her back on him, but she works with him. a part of rildras breaks. she has a child of her own, teaches him what her father taught her. tells him, "do as i say, not as i do."
and he listens. his family has been defined by the daedra for as long as he can remember. no more. he will break that cycle. he will be his own person. he will be a man of his own making. and he is, for 170 years, until he gets caught at the border, until he's in helgen, until the firstborn of akatosh looks him in the eye and--

Hey =) I would like to ask you something. I work on my fics and i would like to have your opinion of what kind of job Isabella, Mathilda and Sienne would/could have in the human world?
I think that a lot of sisters/mothers have enough qualifications to be nursery nurse (especially Isabella and the others mothers of the differents premium farms, who have raised like 100 kids in 12 years at least), maybe one of the three could decide to become one. Or elementary school teacher? I could see some of all the sisters/mothers choose this way because they didn't have as much possibilities than that with their skills :/ (and some of them loves taking care of kids)
Maybe that if Mathilda or Sienna love to cook, they could open (together or only one of them alone) a little tea saloon/coffee shop? Some Sisters/Mothers have skills in cooking so maybe some would open alone or together a backery, a cofffee shop, ect... so maybe Mathilda and Sienna could do that together? (Not Isabella because cooking isn't her best skill ^^")
Maybe a florist?
Maybe Isabella has spend enough time to raises babies and would want a change? And would open a library?
I could see some of all the sisters/mothers choose this way because they didn't have as much possibilities than that with their skills :/ (and some of them loves taking care of kids)
I'd be really careful with implementing this framing and phrasing in the narrative unless it's coming from one of the moms/sisters who's feeling overwhelmed or downcast about their future and struggling with adjusting to the human world. They're all victims of the farm system, and what they experienced at headquarters was traumatic—they were forced into an environment that dehumanized them and pitted them against each other, and before the end of their early twenties they were forced to endure systemic medical rape—but it shouldn't be the sole thing that defines them going forward.
Krone's story in the second light novel talks about how sisters would retrain due to how few were able to obtain one of the five mom positions at Grace Field during their lifetimes:
So even if we're defining sisters as those who haven't retrained and branched out into other fields besides childcare, it's incredibly antithetical for a series that's centered around screwing destiny to frame their futures as limited and tied up in bioessentialism. At the same time, there shouldn't be any shame directed at the ones who do end up gravitating toward childcare. With how many children and sisters were brought over, there's going to be a vast array of answers for what each one finds personally fulfilling in life.
(Chapter 170)
With how driven Matilda was at rising in the ranks at headquarters by becoming second in command to Sarah and later Isabella, I could see her starting her own business or working with a non-profit. Something where she's coordinating multiple projects because her Type A personality enjoys the challenge.
Sienna seems like she'd prefer something a bit less stressful, so a coffee shop owner where she can perfect latte art and foster a relaxed environment with live music could be a reasonable future for her.
I've seen Isabella as a florist as part of the backdrop in an AU (specifically every flower's reaching for the sun if you're in the mood for a RE fic) so my mind has been open to the viability of that career path for her for a while. I have such a soft spot for librarian Ray due to @salsae's vowsverse and my own relationship with reading in uni, and with Isabella's similar history of being a voracious reader (albeit under different circumstances), becoming a library director actively involved in the community around her is equally appealing to me.

182 Days of TPN - Day 170
Chapter 170: "Together"
Years ago I had wondered if Isabella's conversation with Peter happened before or after she rallied up the rest of the moms & sisters, but I suppose this flashback within a flashback kinda confirms she spoke to the ladies after she received news that Emma & the other children were on their way to GF. Half of me still believes that it was a bit risky waiting so long to inform everyone else of her plan just in case she couldn't gather up all the support she needed in time, but the other half of me also understands that there always could've been the possibility of the ladies turning on her or not being able to keep the secret well enough around Peter. Of course we know now from ch181.7 that Isabella had already recruited Matilda, Jessica, Sienna & Scarlet to assist her about a month after she was promoted to Grandma, but having everyone contribute to the betrayal is certainly more ideal.
Ya really can't blame the other ladies for being so hesitant. The idea of rebelling against the farm and the life you've been forced to live definitely seems like a sure fire way to get killed, however, as Isabella explains, that you can suffer the same fate just by doing your job, just as Sarah did.
I'm always up to receive flashbacks on characters, but this is one of those rare occasions that I would have to pass. Seeing how hard both Krone & Isabella struggled to survive the farm system are more than enough for me. These quick glimpses of everyone else's training hurt my little heart already. Aaahh, all the women in this series are so strong. Even though death scares the hell outta me, I doubt I'd live through this nightmare of fighting every day and living in fear.
When the training is so efficient that they learn how to lie perfectly to the children in order to keep up the orphanage but also how to lie to themselves (unknowingly) about how they could obtain a better life.
Kinda funny to me how I'll skip pages during some chapters and other times I'll go all in about almost every little thing. Well, now is one of those times I'm gonna ramble a lot, simply because Isabella is involved (as if that wasn't obvious enough whenever she showed up in the past). I absolutely love seeing how angry she is about this cruel world. This hatred of hers has surfaced the day she climbed the wall and saw the cliff surrounded the plantation with her own eyes after Leslie was shipped out and it has been simmering deep inside ever since, so now after waiting patiently for about twenty years, watching so many children be sacrificed to demons, she finally has the power and opportunity to act upon those strong feelings and contribute to changing the world for the better and I'm just so immensely happy that she's able to get this chance. She deserves to get some sort of revenge 110%.
Learning that the fear we saw her show towards Peter during this deal in ch165 was only an act is brilliant. Now, I'm sure Isabella did have moments where she did feel scared due to the uncertainty of what her new promotion would mean for her, but the fact those feelings practically vanished from her heart in such a short amount of time is amazing. This woman was "free" for two days from wearing any sort of mask and jumped right back into that chess-master mindset flawlessly. The list is endless but chalk that up as yet another reason why I love her.
I wouldn't let anyone rule over me either, but um.. I'd make an exception if it was you, ma'am.
I may be giving her too much credit, but I hope she's saying that regardless of what the other ladies decide, that Isabella is gonna provide her children some assistance no matter who stands in her way. If the betrayal really only included her and the four other women already on her side, I'm sure they could've pulled it off. And yes, I appreciate that she sorta mimicked Emma's words to Ray in ch33 despite never hearing the conversation for herself.
Ohh, how this woman must be feeling after hearing her precious children still call her their mom after everything she put them through.. has to so bittersweet, mixed with relief and regret.
The combination of his exaggerated expression and panic next to her calm and complacent reply absolutely sends me.
What I wouldn't give for her to have a moment with her children like that. I mean, it kinda happens.. the hugs, the apologies and everything else, but it should happen more than twice. And definitely without the death.
Hearing her call Peter a boy never fails to crack me up. And I know she refers to Lambda when she mentions the methods he's okay with, but the way her mind also brings up Nat's broken finger is lowkey hilarious, as if she didn't break Emma's leg before. While the original reason was to prevent Emma from escaping, I can see how Isabella might think her actions was another way to spare the girl from getting shipped early (as extreme & messed up as that idea is). Peter just broke Nat's fingers to be a dick. Nothing more, nothing less. am i showing too much favoritism towards this woman? probably. do i care? nope.
As quick as a callback it is, I love how Isabella mentioned last chapter how Emma & the others destroyed everything and how she expresses the same wish now. Also, her inner thoughts make me wanna sob. All Isabella wants is her help her children, she could care less what they think of her. And for a moment you might believe that they won't forgive her due to the look upon Emma's face here.
As expected from our lovable protagonist though, she accepts Isabella's help once she remembers that she and all the other women were victims of the same harsh system they were forced to live under.
I can fathom how this pathetic man manages to secure a gun and escape from being surrounded without getting hit with a single bullet but whatever. At least no one else gets injured by him as he runs away like a complete coward.
Favorite panel/moment:
I've no doubt said this many times, but this is by far the best mother-daughter moment I've ever experienced in my life.
Even though we did reach the raid in the anime, we were denied this panel mostly becuase the second season didn't allow the children to carry guns, which is a terrible shame.. if anything, we were treated to a small smile from Isabella after Emma's "thank you, mom" though. Of course I'd very much prefer the above panel to be animated, but I'll take what I can get. I'm very easy to please when it comes to this woman.

Sergeant Bambi
Summary : a brief introduce to Sergeant Athea "Bambi" Diggory, my Original Character in Call of Duty universe by Captain Price to Kate Laswell.
Pairing: None
Warnings: possibly bad English especially the grammar (sorry, English is not my first language), inaccurate military term (I tried my best to do research) and I haven't written for a long time and this is the first time I write in English.
JUNE, 2020 1430 Washington D.C, United State of America
“It’s rare for you to ask to meet me so soon after last time.” A woman commented as a man with beard approached her, sitting in the corner of a coffee shop in the middle of the day. The man gave her a quick chuckle before taking another seat in front of the woman.
“What can I say, Kate, I had something you might find interesting,” the man finally replied. He put a brown file on the table, knocking it with his finger a few times to get Kate Laswell’s attention.
It proved successful as Laswell’s eyes almost locked to the file. Judged by the thickness of it, seems like it contained someone’s profile in there and pretty average—not so thin, not so thick. “Another addition to the Task Force, John?” she guessed.
“Straight to point... I thought American loves small talk,” he joked.
“You make it clear you want something. Why bother wasting our time?”
He nodded his head as he agreed. He pushed the file toward her confidently. “Yeah, I’d like to add another one,” he requested.
“Huh? Seems like you forgot one,” she teased him.
He let a small chuckle out, “No, not really. I just came across her and though she probably could be a good additional to the team.”
“And for you get her file by yourself, she must be very good,” she assumed while she took the file and Price just gave her a suspicious grin.
“You know me, Kate. I won't recruit just anyone,” he replied, sipping his just-arrived tea.
“What’s so special about her, anyway? You should understand that I can’t just add another personnel to the team just because you asked for it,” she argued. Her eyebrows furrowed, being skeptical even Price might have a good reason to make such request.
“Just read the file first, I’ll explain after,” he suggested, crossed both his hand and leaned his back against the chair. “I wouldn't waste both of our time if it wasn't worth it.”
“Fine.”
She took the file and started with the name on the cover.
“Sergeant Athea “Bambi” Diggory,” she read it out loud.
There was also a photo of a young woman with long wavy black hair and ocean blue eyes. Quite unfamiliar, she thought.
“She looks young,” she commented. “And she does look like a fawn,” she added another commented, pointing to her face feature and her callsign.
Then, she proceed to read the first page. Mainly because Price didn’t give any comment as he kept silence and let her continue with the file on her hands. As she read the first 2 pages, nothing really stands out except she was a capable soldier.
Full name, Athea Veronica Diggory aka Bambi. Born in 1998 and living in London. Height of 170 cm and weight of about 58 kg. Speaks three languages including English, Spanish and French.
She joined the British Army at the age of 18 before joining the Special Air Service two years later. Promoted to Sergeant last year for her outstanding performance in hunting terrorists and insurgents across Europe and the Middle East. Experienced in primary target elimination, tracking and reconnaissance, covert surveillance, close quarter combat, sniper techniques and demolitions.
Impressive but all seems normal to Laswell. At least, until she got to the interested part.
On the third page, there was a long list of Bambi’s deployment and all the missions she has carried out. But almost half of it was blacked out. So on the next pages, which contained reports of her missions, almost all of them were covered in black marker.
The other thing was the time when these secret missions were carried out. It could be seen that secret missions were carried out after several or between 2 official missions. And the time between the date of the previous mission and the mission after is relatively short. So it just means that these secret missions were carried out quickly.
Laswell thought it was weird because nothing out of ordinary from Bambi’s profile. She understood that she was a well-performed soldier, but to have a lot of confidential reports like this was unusual.
“What is it, John?” she finally asked.
Price sniffed. “That’s what make her special. Kate. Twenty-one years old, only four years of serving both in the Army and SAS but already got long list of missions and half of it was secret missions. Long list? Fine. Young blood got a lot of energy. But secret missions?”
“If it was Ghost’s, I probably could understand…” she almost lost of words at this point. Either she was amazed or worried about Bambi. “And you want her to be in your team?”
He nodded his head. “I had no problem with those secret missions. For me, those are nothing more than proves that she’s more than capable to be in the team.”
“What are these secret missions? Do you have any idea?” she asked.
This time, Price shook his head. “Nope. Not a single one. This is the most detail I could get. All I know, those missions weren’t on official record.”
“And what about others’ opinion about it?”
“They won’t know. The file they’ll get is the edited version. It will exclude all the confidential information. Just the official records,” he grinned, followed with his old man chuckles that makes Kate raised one of her eyebrows.
“How you got this then?” she confused.
“I got my sources. Don’t worry about it,” he reassured.
“Have you ever worked with her?” she once again questioned him, flipping pages of the files with her fingers.
“Only once but even then it wasn't under my command.” He took another sip of his tea.
“And you think she can work well with you?” she doubted him.
“Worth the shot,” he smiled confidently. Laswell wasn’t sure, of course.
“That’s not enough, John. You need a better reason,” she objected. Of course it wasn't enough.
No matter how much Laswell wanted to fulfill Price's request, she still needed a compelling reason to add additional personnel at this time, when they were about to start a new mission soon. But on the other side, Price was so eager to add this particular person with unknown reason for Laswell.
“I know. But you’d love her,” he tried.
With that, Laswell wasn’t convinced yet. She still had some things to consider even after reading some of the reports—that she could read—a few times. Too many secret will never be a good thing. But she couldn’t denied that she was intrigue.
“Fine. But we've already had a plan and you know that. We'll all be leaving for Verdansk in a few days. So I can't possibly include anyone new in the plan. For now, she could only be sent as assistance if the situation turned out of control. That's the best thing I can do,” she finally decided that made Price breathe with ease. He also smiled and Laswell found it annoying.
“I appreciate it, Kate. I’ll introduce her to you in person if it necessary.” Price stood up from his chair, ready to leave as the purpose of his coming here has been conveyed.
“No need. Since this was a last minute request, I’ll meet her after it's all done. I’ll give you an update if there’s any. Just make sure everyone is ready.”
“See you in few days, Kate.”

Altean families hcs
Heya! I'm not stopping. Twi thread
Warnings: 18+ (mostly cuz biology talk), Half-altean Lance.
I am gonna start with alteans and their structure. I believe that alteans are quite matriarchal. We don’t have enough clues about it in canon, but from what I see, mothers are quite the leading power.
Honerva was unstoppable and she stopped only when SHE wanted (tho destroying realities, like she got what she wanted) and Allura talked to her. Plus she got Zarkon wrapped around her finger before going mad and even a lil after that. Imagine her not being evil. Jeez what a woman she’d be.
I believe that Melenor might be the Queen by blood and Alfor entering the family by marriage and becoming a consort. Why? One of the main reasons is that Alfor never ever wears any kind of crown, while Melenor and Allura always do. Also you can see in this screenshot, Melenor sitting next to Zarkon - the sole emperor of Daibazaal - closer than her husband, who is friends with said emperor, meaning Melenor has higher status than her husband.
Though, here, she’s standing on the side. But he is not a King for nothing right?
But it can say nothing about alteans being matriarchal. I hcs them like that, cuz it seems fitting for them to put mothers and families on a pedestal.
So, now I’ll start to explain altean process to start a family. I already explained their courting process here (вставить ссылку).
Alteans can only get pregnant when both partners want it and it can not happen by accident. Conception is actually considered a very special process and even a ritual in Altean culture and is not considered like something dirty or full of lust. It’s usually something very-very gentle. Though usual sex is kinda stigmatized and they mostly don’t talk about it. Yeah you have really slow social progress, when you live in monarchy and your population lives for more than 600 years (that’s around Coran’s age and he considered as middle aged man).
Getting back to pregnancies. At conception, a portion of quintessence from each partner is fused to form child’s. It’s a big strain for future parents cuz it’s literally part of their life force is gone to their child. Because of this, they rarely have more than 2-3 children.
This ritual is counted as the 1st day of child’s existence. So birthday counts from the conception date. Also, because of their huge life spawn, they count their age as centuries. For example, “I am 17” means that the child is 170 years old. They’re considered as a minor till their 250 birthday. Modern alteans can, basically, live forever until they’re killed (im pretty sure that they have tech to change DNA (also this shit is controversial as hell, but i will talk about it when i get to write about politics). But they can look old, like Alfor did, because of stress. Stress is their kryptonite in that case.
(also i suspect that Altea has a shorter year, being closer to it’s sun)
Oh, also, a little biology: alteans deffinetly have different sexes, looking at their bodies, they have pretty obvious sexual dimorphism. Though, knowing how advanced they are (thanks for changing DNA tech) and their abilities for shapeshifting, they probably can easily change how they like it and have a child. They might be like some kinds of fish or lizards, which can change their sex when needed. Like they’re born as hermaphrodites. but for some alteans male hormones are stronger, for some female are (and i’m pretty sure that they have their own hormones, they’re aliens after all, i’m just using this terminology for better understanding).
Anyway, mothers for alteans are the ones who bear the child and feed them later (and they def feed some kind of milk, why else would alteans have boobs? to store quintessence there?). And they are quite the heroes/heroines, cuz babies take a lot from alteans, mostly quintessence, I think. But physically too. I think that they can have longer pregnancies. The reason humans have their babies for 9 months and even then the baby is helpless and can’t even hold their head, it’s cuz the head is so big and if it’d grow more it’d be a big problem for mothers in the stretching department. But alteans don’t have that problem with shapeshifting so the babies are bigger. Maybe a lil smaller than Allura on the screenshot.
So because pregnancy is really taxing, it’s exactly why they prefer to have multiple partners, so they can help each other (looking at you, Coran). Also I think alteans could have little traditions, like giving a pregnant lady some presents or flowers, even if you don’t know her well. Pregnant one is a really precious one. Alteans if stress (kryptonite!) can easily have a miscarriage and it’s always devastating for them. So they try to avoid any bad news during pregnancies.
sidenote: it’s weird to refer to a pregnant altean solely as she/her, cuz alteans can literally alter their biology. who knows, maybe it’s alfor who gave birth to allura. we will never know.
(but, according to my hcs, we know, cuz allura calls melenor mother and that means that she was the one who was pregnant with her.)
So the next thing is really important for alteans and their families. As you well know, alteans have a deep connection with quintessence and can kind of control it. Each family has its own little “lake” of quintessence. This lake keep them all connected to each other, mostly emotionally. They can’t read each other’s minds, but it’s easy for them to sense a mood and feelings in general. I think, it’s the same how the Lions communicate and connect.
This connection is really important, because it can help all members of this lake to feel needs of altean mother and then children’s needs. It also helps them to feel their quintessence more clearly and develop empathy.
A child is accepted into family’s lake when their quintessence grows stronger and detaches from their mother’s completely (at first it’s really intertwined and helps mother to take care of their kid). They have a traditional ritual for that and it’s held by the most magically talented member of the family. But it can also happen naturally, if the kid is close with everyone in the family, tho connection will be a bit weaker, because no one leads kid’s quintessence in the right place.
The acceptance ritual usually happens at their 5-10 year (it’s really early for alteans if you remember their lifespan). If not accepted, then the child will feel unwanted, abandoned and in general will be very restless and prone to stress and depression.
If someone is not accepted, they’re not considered a real family. The marriage is all about future spouses to get this connection with each other.
This connection can weaken though, it’s not permanent and needs refreshing. Usually it’s enough to just spend time with each other. But it’s highly emotional and if someone doesn’t want to be connected, they link will break.
Now let’s talk about my baby half-altean Lance >:)
So, Luis and the others are not full siblings. Luis was born from the human, when the others were born from an altean who happened to get on Earth somehow (i know how, but i wanna save something for my long ass fic which MAY be translated if I could find a beta). That altean and Lance’s mom have had Marco and Veronica. But the altean didn’t expect that Lance’s mom would have 2 eggs. Alteans do not have that at all. A little later after Lance and Rachel were conceived, he died of the quintessence strain. On Earth no one really knew why.
But well, these two were never accepted in the lake with his father, Marco and Veronica (these two didn’t even know about being part-alien), so they grew up with diagnosed ADHD and self worth issues.
There we step into more of the AU territory, cuz Lance is known as altean much earlier, maybe before s 2. Coran and Allura are estatic. They were so used to their big families always buzzing lake, so felling only each other was really lonely. So Allura accept Lance as her own brother (yeah, Allura was that much uninterested). She did use a little too much magic because of her inexperience, so Lance got his marks and his ears started to change (cartilage are softer and can be bend easier).
He started to become more altean in general. Like he isn’t disgusted by food goo anymore for example and gets stronger easier. He can’t shapeshift, bc human bones, but he can change his skin color. It was weird af for him to feel Allura and Coran as he feels his lion, but it did helped him a lot with his ADHD and worries. Plus he got a new sister and, kind of, a new dad? Or Uncle? He’s not sure. But it’s the closest to his family he ever had since they got into space.
Thank you for reading! Hope you like it! Please let me know what hcs do you have about altean or maybe galra families!

Order of the Weal profile
Maxim: "Let's wind it up and see where it goes". "We don't have a history. We have a mythology. Our past is full of gods and monsters rather then people. Excrement. It's all excrement", Chatelaine Thessalia.
Dates 900.B.T.W., (10 years before the Morbius presidency): Founded during the breif realpolitik attack that resulted in Morbius's presidency. 500,000 post Anchoring: Chatelaine Thessalia and her obvious sucessors are killed. 400.B.T.W./100years before Gandfather Paradox's release: Ceased operating.
Purpose Common Weal= Common Good. Ruthlessly rationalist and covert. Developed Morbius's realpolitik gesturing into a pure, nihilist philosophy. Secretly held sway over the Timelords for nearly 700 years after Morbius's Presidency. Founded by the Morbius, (who also chose Thessalia as it's head) partly as an useful counter intelligence service, (combat the Houses's, "quiet megolomania" and the rising interventionalist movements) but also a chance to remould a House to his own ideaology. Rejected the traditon starting stories of the anchoring engineers regarding them as sprious at best and ideaological at worst. All oral history was considered to be lies designed to obsure or excuse contemporary political activity, (intervention groups were suspected intervention groups were planting new political mythologies into the noosphere visa the Eye of Harmony, the Order planted false histories and counter myths soley to see the infomration vectors). The start of the paranoia age which remained in full swing at least 50 years.D.T.W. and unlikely to ever end. Preserved the establishment by pro actively courting troublemakers and endorsing radical political views to prevent: malcontents, renegades, and radicals them from joining genuine anti establishment forces. First operational success was the exposure and descrediting of Morbius as a fanatic, 9he may have been disappointed but wasn't surprised). Then it turned it's attention to the more extremist interventionalist groups as the enemy with which were seeking power at the expense of the common good, (renegades and cults could be tolerated or exploited). As more time active cultures noticed Gallifrey's existance and the Timelords felt a creeping dread about the outside universe the Order switched it's attention to the possibility of a sustained invasion by a unknown formidale enemy andaonding the Common Weal for pragmatism. Offworld missions were sanctioned to monitor Violent Uknown Events hoping they would gain a future glimpse. They were dedicated to tracking down and iioslating the enemy but had no starting point. Soon all of their timeships were tied up in offworld surviellance, (including at the Fornier of Time). Panic began to set in amongst the Timelord and the Order started falling apart. Contiuned to function after deaths of Thessalia's and her most obvious successors under several caretaker directors with inertia initially keeping most of the operations going but the network of agents and contacts were now inaccessible and fragmented so it's functions and members were gradually subsumed by other Interventionalist groups. Remembered as a typical also ran cult, one among the many established in the millenium before the War eclipsed by House the Faction Paradox. History had overtaken it as Gallifrey was living out Morbius's legacy. May have commissoned the Babels.
Agents Had 170 active members. Simple heirarchy with the Chatelaine directing all operational matters along with her heir apparent, (which frequently changed according to her whims). Staffed by malcontents from other Houses given combat training but the majority carried out the required daily administration. Myrmidobs, (antmen) were the best trained and equipped soldiers on the Gallifrey. Acted as both the Chatealine's elite bodyguard and emergency shock troops permenantly stationed in the order's four timeships. Black and gold liveried. (Possibly used .T.T&L.G.T.W. era armour and equipment). Cultivated contact with renegades and radicals giving it a large informal spy and sleeper network who's idnetities were only known to the Chatelaine and her inner circle. Keen to recruit, "mutant" agents. Never used the House Ixion loom, (presumably for ideaological reasons). Proccupied with unstable bloodlines could have prompted it to subtly alter active looms's programming dynamics to see what would happen/create future recruits. Initiation was deprogramming the recruitee by removing the cultural and pychological blocks that blinkered them to the outside universe.
Other Three major potenitally suspect sources of information: 1.Posthuman sects eyewitness accounts regarding events surrounding it's eventual destruction. 2.Former Weal agents testimony, (incomplete and tainted by subsequent associations). 3.Chatelaine Thessalia's, "Little Book of Power".

Pre-Chapter 3 Upgrades:
Excellence Cosmodriver
HP: 3990 -> 4180 EN: 170 -> 204 Armor: 997 -> 1045 Weapons: 1 -> 2
Ra Cailum
HP: 10000 -> 10500 EN: 200 -> 220 Armor: 1100 -> 1155
As the ship pulls up to the Londenion space colony, Bright reminds everyone that there is no way Char will pass up the opportunity to capitalize on the chaos the Martian Successors have unleashed on the Earth Sphere. As soon as resupplies are done, we are all to be ready to depart at a moment's notice.
Speaking of resupplying, Raul asks Mizuho how the Excellence's weaponry is holding up. She's been using Mobile Suit parts as substitutes with Astonaige's help, and while they're fairly sure nothing bad should happen, he does tell her to check back with him if any peculiarities arise.
Before she can consider her schedule free, however, Amuro comes around to invite her to check out the v Gundam. Raul invites himself, as he hasn't been to a colony in a while, and Amuro asks if Raj will be coming along too, but he immediately turns the invitation down. Kayra sarcastically says he must be fun at parties, but Raj says that if he had the time to go to parties, he'd spend that time working on the Timeflow Engine.
As they enter the colony, Amuro asks if Raj is always... like that. Raul stresses that he's not a bad guy, but finds himself forced to admit that the answer is basically yes. Due to her time working alongside the team, Mizuho also thinks he's a kind person at heart; he's just a bit bad at expressing himself.
Arriving at the Mobile Suit dock, the group is greeted by Chan Agi, from Anaheim Electronics. She introduces herself, but it seems to be mostly for Raul and Mizuho's convenience, as she seems well acquainted with Amuro.
Amuro cuts to the chase and asks about the delays he's been told about; sure enough, work on the Psycoframe around the cockpit has stalled, due to the frame being heavier than original projections. Amuro is frustrated to have setbacks during such a critical time, but ultimately trusts Chan to get the job done in time.
Mizuho seems to envy Chan a little, which Raul assumes to be because she was interested in Amuro... but in truth, she just envies Chan's technical expertise.
As they take a buggy trip around the colony, the topic somehow or other comes back to the spotlight. You see, originally Mizuho also wanted to work at a bigshot company like Anaheim or Nergal, but she failed all the entrance exams. Amuro's in disbelief, as the Excellence is no small feat; surely she has talent... Mizuho continues to downplay herself, saying she just so happened to be selected to work alongside the Timeflow Engine team among a list of other candidates. Raul tells her that it's not like they picked her by chance, but what Mizuho really wants to get at is that being trusted leading work on the latest model Gundam is an honor that she feels is completely out of her reach. Raul and Amuro continue to attempt to cheer her up, until they overhear a conversation.
Two children seem to be arguing about Char's new movement... and one of those children is Hathaway Noa, Captain Bright's son! Amuro assumes the girl to be Hathaway's girlfriend, but judging by Hathaway's flustered reaction, that's probably not the case. Immediately recognizing him to be Amuro Ray, the girl hops in the buggy, shoving Raul and Mizuho out the way. She wants to talk to Amuro, and doesn't want anyone getting in the way of that.
She explains that she's been training in India to better empathize with and understand humanity, so she's interested in talking to one of the most famous Newtypes to ever live.
Raul: "'India'? I don't know that colony."
raul...
One incredibly embarrassing correction later, Quess continues gushing about Newtypes and their capability to understand one another, and Hathaway discusses how people theorize adaptation to a life in space could bring forth such abilities. Raul says he's been living 2 years in Saturn's orbit and still hasn't unlocked psychic powers, but obviously individual differences still factor in. If changes were that sudden and drastic, imagine what'd happen to families split between earthnoids and spacenoids!
On the topic of family, Amuro asks if Hathaway has talked to his dad yet. Hathaway can't hide his disappointment as he explains that they talked briefly, but Bright was busy as usual and couldn't stay long. Still, Hathaway himself understands that it's unavoidable; the Londo Bell has more on its plate right now than you can even imagine.
Suddenly, Quess' expression turns serious. She's feeling... something. Rather, someone. Hey, is that a horse?
Char: "Amuro!?"
Amuro showers him with questions. Why is he here? Why destroy the Earth? Char takes this chance to repeat his points from their earlier encounter; the people on Earth are ignorant, and refuse to stop harming the planet. Hathaway isn't satisfied with the apparent contradiction; if harming the planet is bad, why is Char fine with destroying it? But Char's goal was never to destroy it, just give it time to rest and recover from bearing all of humanity's ego... by wiping out the Earth's population.
Amuro insists that human ingenuity can find a solution to this that won't involve the deaths of millions, but if it really is that simple, Char would like to see that "ingenuity" in action. Raul says that if they destroy the Earth, he never will! But Char remains steadfast. He believes in human innovation, but in order for all of humanity to become Newtypes, someone must first pay for their sins.
Mizuho is bothered by Char's motivations here. Yes, Newtypes have many wonderful ablities, but are they really an ideal worth this degree of accelerationism? Worth the lives of millions? Quess, taking Char's side, stonewalls the question; to her, the answer is yes. Newtypes are worth all this. She then lunges for Amuro's gun, stealing it in one movement, taking Char's side (now physically as well as ideologically), and pointing it at the group.
Quess: "Amuro, you're too small-minded! And not just Amuro, all of you are!"
With that, she goes off with Char without looking back.
Back at the Ra Cailum, everyone is depressed over what happened. Char could tell Quess had talent as a Newtype, and took her under his wing. Before they can spend too long moping, however, Astonaige runs into the room; Char's already on the move again. And this time, he plans to drop Axis, a far larger asteroid.
On a monitor, the crew watches Char's televised speech. god i hate how this game does the monitor effect, impossible to screencap
Char exposits on the sordid history of the New UNE and its predecessors, and how unfairly they've treated spacenoids. The lack of reparations or care for their well-being after all the conflicts they've been through, the way they've been effectively shut out from the Earth and ruled over with an iron fist, how over the years their ranks have become more and more corrupt, especially after Dekim's coup, and given birth to more oppression, and in turn, more conflict. In that sense, the true objective behind the Axis Drop Operation is to end all wars, by eradicating the shambling corpse of the New UNE.
Amuro points out how significant Axis is to Zeon itself as a movement; the first Neo Zeon movement was born there. This is, in every single way, the last resort.
"Everyone! Lend me your strength for just a while longer, so that we may forge our own path and establish a government for us colonists! Then, and only then, may i join my father, Zeon Zum Deikun!"
"We won't let that happen, Char."

Maiden of the Moon
What if Kokushibo had a pupil, whom he taught the original Moon Breathing before he deserted the Demon Slayer Corps?
Mochizuki Yua was born only for these reasons: To become a Hashira and make her family a respected one in the Demon Slayer Corps.
But if you only live for the expectations of others, who are YOU truly?
What will it take to find yourself?
A long, hard journey awaits.
On my DeviantART, I posted how Yua looks. Currently, she wears a ponytail, which is also the first of her hairstyles in my pic.
Hope you enjoy it.
Here is the link: https://www.deviantart.com/empressofthesun/art/Mochizuki-Yua-971961805
Chapter 2: Moonlight Beauty
Yawing Yua stretched her arms in the air closing her eyes.
Currently, she was walking on a village street between farmland. Her trusty crow Kaguya flew over her head, showing her the way to her next mission.
She had finished off today already a demon, who had terrorized the farmers in this prefecture. Destroying their farmland and eating anyone who at night left their homes.
It had been a challenging fight, the demon had been crafty, but her Moon Breathing once again was superior.
Maybe she should go to a Wisteria House or even home, but she needed to keep going.
She couldn’t show up again home without raising in Rank.
Yua was only a bit tired. She would manage.
Just keep going.
You can only go forward.
That’s when her ears reached a loud ruckus. Confused she opened her eyes.
A drop appeared on her forehead as she saw the scene before her.
There were two boys.
One with a green checker haori, the other in a yellow with white triangles.
Yellow haori was on his knee, clinging to checker haori, screaming about he would die soon and more nonsense.
Normally Yua would ignore that, but she saw that both wore the Demon Slayer Corps Uniform.
These were fellow swordsmen.
Her father had taught her that she had to help her brother and sisters in arms. The Demon Slayer Corps was or should be one big family that should be there for each other.
Also, she couldn’t just walk around them. If it came out that she didn’t help her brothers-in-arms, it could lower her chance to become a Hashira.
She couldn’t make any mistakes.
So with a forced smile on her pink lips, she called out to them: “Anything all right with you guys?”
Yua regretted already talking to them as the yellow haori formally zeroed in on her, pointing.
“AAH, a beautiful Demon Slayer girl! I must be dreaming! You look like the famous Moonlight Beauty of the Corps.”
Oh no!
Another one who had heard this stupid nickname some slayer had giving her as a joke to rill her up.
“Moonlight Beauty?”, repeated green haori confused, which only angered yellow haori: “Do you live under a rock Tanjiro?! There is said to be a beautiful girl with long midnight blue hair like the night sky, eyes as grey as moonlight, and a figure to die for in the Demon Slayer Corps! Also, she is pretty strong.”
Of course that she was strong was an afterthought. If she ever again stumbled over this worm Katsumi Tomita, she would kick his ass. Rules be damned!
“I have a name, you know!”, she called over, putting her hands on her hips. “I’m Mochizuki Yua, proud Demon Slayer for four years, Rank Hinoto. I won’t let you reduce me to only my looks, crybaby Mizunoto!”
Yellow Haori screamed with ugly tears crybaby Mizunoto, till he seemed to register what else she said.
“Mochizuki Yua?! You are really the Moonlight Beauty-“
“-And your senpai!”, she added with a growl.
Yua couldn’t look that fast as green haori, gripped yellow haori by his neck, making him and himself bow to her.
“I’m sorry for my friend, senpai.”, apologized green haori. “We didn’t mean no disrespect.”
At least someone had manners.
“What’s your name, Mizunoto?”, she asked green haori.
He looked up and Yua had to blink for a second.
Oh, he was a handsome boy.
He had lovely dark red eyes, just like his hair, and was a bit smaller than her. Well, she was 170 cm and surely older than him, so no wonder.
“I’m Kamado Tanjiro and he is Agatsuma Zenitsu, we really meant no disrespect.”
Again Tanjiro made them bow, while Zenitsu sniffled.
“If Agatsuma-San stops calling me Moonlight Beauty and acting that shameless, I will.”
Tanjiro promised as Zenitsu wailed that he wasn’t shameless if he was dying soon.
Who in the name of Tsukuyomi did Yua just meet?
A while later Yua and her new acquaintances Tanjiro and Zenitsu were walking together.
Apparently, they all headed in the same direction.
The good thing was Zenitsu had finally calmed down because Yua was this close away to gag the blond boy with a cloth, so he would stop crying and bitching about how he would die soon.
Nuisance!
Tanjiro didn’t share her sentiment, since he asked in calming and reassuring voice if Zenitsu was okay.
“Yeah.”, sniffled Zenitsu his last tears away. “Now that I’m calmer, I’m getting hungry.”
Yua couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Naturally, there was something new with the Nuisance.
She didn’t get how Tanjiro could give him his Onigiri, if he only had one. At least Zenitsu had enough manners to share the Onigiri with Tanjiro.
“Aren’t you hungry, Yua-Senpai?”, asked Tanjiro worried.
The midnight blue-haired girl just deadpanned.
“No, don’t worry. I eat before.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Kamado-San, I am.”
“Oh, all right.”
That boy was way too sweet and caring. He would get eaten alive in this world. Yua wonder what had pushed him to become a Demon Slayer.
Her grey eyes wander over the box the red-haired boy carried.
“I know what you mean when you say you’re scared of demons, but you can’t make trouble for your sparrow.”, told Tanjiro, Zenitsu.
“Huh? Was it distressed?”, wonder the blond. “The sparrow? How can you tell?”
“Well, he says that you’re always whining about not wanting to go to work, and you’re always hitting on girls and that you snore so loud, he’s had it! So he says.”
“You are a pathetic skirt chaser also? Tzz.”, grumbled Yua under her breath, crossing her arms.
“He’s saying that?! You can understand bird language?”, asked Zenitsu, the red-haired boy in utter confusion.
Yua answered for him: “Any kasugai crow or in your case, sparrow can talk. You didn’t notice?”
“You’re lying, senpai, right?! You’re just trying to trick me!”
That’s when Kaguya and another crow, probably Tanjiro one, called down to them: “Start running! Start running! Yua, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, run! The three of you head over to your next destination! Run! Run, Yua, Tanjiro, Zenitsu!”
This shocked Zenitsu so much that he screamed in fright and started to roll around on the ground.
Tanjiro looked worried at him, while Yua just deadpanned.
A Nuisance, trough, and trough.
Having enough Yua gripped Zenitsu by the collar of his yellow haori dragging him in the direction their crows lead them, ignoring his screams of letting go and he didn’t want to go.
Tanjiro caught up to her.
“Senpai?”
“Kamado-San, we don’t have time for Agatsuma-San’s little crisis. We need to go. Anytime we waste, another human life could be taken.”
“If you say so, Yua-Senpai.”
So Yua dragged Zenitsu behind her, while Tanjiro followed.
The young woman wonder what would await them on this joint mission.
After walking through a forest and ignoring pointedly Zenitsu’s cries that he wouldn’t be much help to them, the three Demon Slayers found themselves before a mansion.
Yua let go of Zenitsu, so he could stand up.
The three looked at the mansion in caution.
“I can smell blood.”, told Tanjiro “But this particular scent…”
“Huh? You smell something?”, wonder Zenitsu.
“Something I’ve never smelled before.”
“I don’t know about that, but do you hear that sound? Also, are we three gonna work together, after all?”
The only female crossed her arms, fixing the mansion with sharp eyes, concentration on it. Demonic and human presence, that much was clear.
That’s when all three saw two children, hugging each other, between bushes and trees.
It was a young boy and a little girl.
“K-Kids…”, stutter Zenitsu.
“They are scarred.”, added Yua.
“I wonder what’s wrong.”, wonder Tanjiro, walking up to them. “Hey, guys, what are you doing here?”
But the children are so terrified they can’t manage to talk, only after Tanjiro shows them Zenitsu cute little sparrow, the boy tells them what’s going on.
All the alarm bell ring in Yua’s head as she hears their story.
“The monster only took you brother?”, she repeats and the young boy nods shyly. “This is not good. There is only one explanation if a demon takes only one specific human and doesn’t care for others.”
“What is it senpai?”, asks Tanjiro.
Yua explains: “Their older brother must be a marechi. This is the rarest blood type that exists and is particularly appetizing for demons. They forget anything and just want that person’s blood, so tasteful it is to them.”
The freaked-out look on Zenitsu’s face was a bit funny while seeing the siblings scarred made Yua’s heart hurt. They remind her of Kaito and Hikari.
So she kneels down to them and pats their heads.
“Don’t worry. He is still alive, I can feel it.”
Brother and sister just stare with big eyes at her. Secretly Tanjiro wonders what the older girl means by she feels that he is still alive, but this was not important right now.
He turns back to the kids.
“We’re going to defeat the bad guy and rescue your brother!”, promises Tanjiro them.
“Really? You really will?”, asked the little girl to be sure.
“Yeah. For sure!”
Yua nods in agreement.
“Just wait, soon you will have your brother back.”
“Tanjiro…Yua-Senpai…”, calls Zenitsu for them, still holding his hands on his ears. “Hey, what is this sound? This creepy sound never stops. Is it a tsuzumi?”
Tanjiro and Yua both don’t hear anything.
Suddenly a tsuzumi drum can be heard in the area.
All look around to find the source, till on the final drum beat, a boy’s body flies out from the door on the second floor.
Shocked shouts turn to screams as the body hits the ground.
On instinct Yua hugs the children to herself, shushing them: “Don’t look, don’t look, okay, sweeties?”
Meanwhile, Tanjiro holds the poor dying boy in his arms, hugging him to himself in his last moments.
“Hey, is this man your…”, he calls over.
The young boy shaking in Yua’s arms tells him that this is not their older brother since he wears a persimmon-colored kimono.
Careful Tanjiro lays the dead boy on the ground, promising him in his thoughts to give him a proper burial after he saved the older brother of the kids.
“All right. Zenitsu, Yua-Senpai come on!”
“Right!”, agrees Yua, slowly letting go of the still-scarred kids.
Zenitsu so doesn’t want to enter the mansion and come with them, till Tanjiro just turns away from him, showing Zenitsu he will leave him behind. Of course, the blond boy doesn’t want that, agreeing to come with them.
Then Tanjiro kneels again before the kids, while Yua gives them some last pats to calm them down.
He puts his box down on the ground before them.
“In case of an emergency, I’m leaving this box behind. Even if something happens, you two will be protected.”, Tanjiro promises the siblings.
Calmy Yua stares at the box, it seems like her eyes twinkle with light, saying nothing.
“Kamado-San, Agatsuma-San, let’s enter the mansion.”, orders Yua, walking up to it. “Since I have the higher Rank, I will lead this mission. You are both under my command now.”
“Of course, Yua-Senpai.”, acknowledge Tanjiro, Zenitsu reluctantly follows them while sobbing.
The trio enters the mansion.
It’s eerie and quiet.
Yua feels her nose tickle from the dust that flies around.
Demon doesn’t care for housekeeping it seems.
Tanjiro and Yua walk further into it, as Zenitsu cries out behind them: “Tanjiro! Hey, Tanjiro! Senpai! Yua-Senpai! You’ll protect me, right? You’ll protect me, right?”
Together the three stop.
“Zenitsu, I hate to put you on the spot, but… I’ve got a broken rib and leg from my previous battle.”, admins Tanjiro. “And neither is fully healed yet. So –“
You could have told me sooner from Yua gets drowned out by Zenitsu totally losing his nerves. The blond-haired boy again rolls around the ground crying about how he is going to die.
Annoyed Yua picks him up by his collar and gives him a hard slap in the face. She ignores Tanjiro’s shocked gasp since Zenitsu stopped freacking out and hangs like a cloth from her hand.
“Listen to me Agatsuma! No one die’s on my watch!”, she growls pissed off. “I’m not a Hinoto for nothing. I won’t let die any of my men, but for that get yourself at least together and stop being a crybaby or I will personally give you something to really cry over!”
Zenitsu squeaks quietly in fright, while Tanjiro means: “Senpai…please don’t be so hard on him. Demons can be scary, his fear isn’t without reason.”
“He will never woman-up if he shit his pants because of anything slightly scary.”
“Woman-up?”
“The future is female, Kamado-San.”
Before Tanjiro can say something both he and Yua see how the two siblings enter the mansion.
“Goddammit, kids!”, grumbles Yua and lets Zenitsu fall on the floor.
The boy lets out a tiny shriek.
“You shouldn’t be here!”, scolds Tanjiro the kids.
“M-Mister, we heard scratching sounds from inside that box!”, tells the boy.
“E-Even still, it pains me that you left it behind! I mean, it’s more precious to me than my own life!”
A wild and chaotic tremor occurs throughout the mansion. The group looks cautious and fearful around.
Zenitsu covers his ears and falls to his knees, accidentally bumping Tanjirou and the little girl into a room.
“Ah, sorry! My butt…”
A drum is played, and Tanjiro and the little girl vanish before their eyes!
Yua gets a determined look on her face, drawing her Katana, while Zenitsu screams in fear and shock and the little boy is frozen.
“Stay calm!”, she orders.
“HOW CAN I BE CALM?! TANJIRO VANISH!”, shouts Zenitsu.
Many things happen at the same time.
Zenitsu wants to throw himself at Yua, but she backs away from him, into the room behind her, the drums play again and suddenly she is in another room, no Zenitsu and the little boy to see. Or Tanjiro and the little girl for that matter.
The drums play a few times, Yua holding her Katana before her, ready for anything, till it stops.
She is now in a room that seems like a normal bedroom.
Analyzing her surroundings her eyes wander from one corner to another.
Nothing she sees and nothing she feels out of place.
“The room changed as the drum played.”, she thoughts. “This must be the Blood Demon Art of the demon who took the older brother of the kids. Now the question is…shall I stay in the room and wait till it changes again…or follow my gut in hopes it leads me in the right direction.”

An AU where Warriors joins last... because the chain has to find and rescue him.
After the War, but before the events of LU is kicked into motion, a group of people (can be traitors but I think it would more interesting if it was a group of citizens) take Warriors and uses him as ransom. They send his blood stained scarf as proof thst they actually have him.
Athena isn't convinced that the group is interested in sending him back safely, thinking that would just take the rupees and probably kill him once they have it since Warriors would undoubtedly be a witness.
Luckily for her though, a group of heroes have come looking for Warriors and she sends them to track down Warriors and get him back.
Cue the all the suspense and mystery. I'm not good with that kind of thing.
This idea is adoptable. If it speaks to you, it needs a good home. Just tag me if you decide to do something with it.

Kat is an incredibly person and a wonderful writer (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Just saying that I admire you is too little,
You so precious than a crystal
Any altar I put for you will be too small,
For thou who always remain standing after so many has falls
Not even the most beautiful words could describe how amazing you are after all.
(◍•ᴗ•◍)❤

AU where Warriors received a medical discharge months after defeating Ganon because he never truly recovered from his injuries. He's unable to stay on his feet long enough to fight, let alone hold his sword. Although Artemis offers him a place to stay in the castle because of his service, he finds hard to stay and ultimately retires to a small village in the countryside with Proxi where nobody really knows who he is. He survives on military benefits and rarely interacts with the other villagers, but they do check on him from time to time.
Warriors isn't exactly happy in retirement but he's more or less accepted it.
Until eight other heroes come to the village Warriors retired to and ask around for a hero named Link, and Warriors can't fathom why anybody would come looking for a broken hero like him...

Another LU idea that I might not write because nothing is working out so far (because you know, my life).
At the end of Hyrule Warriors, Warriors just collapses. Could be all the collective injuries from taking down Ganon, combined with the exhaustion, and maybe a good ol' infected wound or two. Whatever the reason, he collapses in front of Mask and his condition isn't great.
And when it's time for all the time-displaced to go home, he still's unconscious.
Masks tries to fight against going home because he doesn't want to leave until he knows Warriors will be fine. He's forced back anyway. He leaves not knowing if Warriors even survived. He lives for years, wondering if Warriors is okay.
Come LU and Time gets to meet some of the other heroes, but Warriors isn't among them. He thinks to meet that mayb Warriors died after all and that's why he they haven't been reunited. However, he can't voice why he is so worried.
But Warriors just happens to be the last to join the chain. He pulled through just fine, trying to ignore the fact that a lot of his friends left and he never got to say goodbye.

As much as I like reading dissections of the fandom characterizations as they compare to canon, I think the more important thing is that people have fun and make the content they want so they keep improving their craft. People intentionally disregard canon all the time in any given fandom.
You don't have to drop system/DID Four just because Jojo isn't using it. If you like that headcanon, keeping using it as often as you would like. Canon isn't the end all be all, especially in fandoms. Just don't confuse canon and fanon and you should be fine.

Epic Stories: 2022 picks to check out
The Many Daughters of Afong Moy by Jamie Ford
Dorothy Moy breaks her own heart for a living. As Washington’s former poet laureate, that’s how she describes channeling her dissociative episodes and mental health struggles into her art. But when her five-year-old daughter exhibits similar behavior and begins remembering things from the lives of their ancestors, Dorothy believes the past has truly come to haunt her. Fearing that her child is predestined to endure the same debilitating depression that has marked her own life, Dorothy seeks radical help. Through an experimental treatment designed to mitigate inherited trauma, Dorothy intimately connects with past generations of women in her family: Faye Moy, a nurse in China serving with the Flying Tigers; Zoe Moy, a student in England at a famous school with no rules; Lai King Moy, a girl quarantined in San Francisco during a plague epidemic; Greta Moy, a tech executive with a unique dating app; and Afong Moy, the first Chinese woman to set foot in America. As painful recollections affect her present life, Dorothy discovers that trauma isn’t the only thing she’s inherited. A stranger is searching for her in each time period. A stranger who’s loved her through all of her genetic memories. Dorothy endeavors to break the cycle of pain and abandonment, to finally find peace for her daughter, and gain the love that has long been waiting, knowing she may pay the ultimate price.
Small World by Jonathan Evison
Set against such iconic backdrops as the California gold rush, the development of the transcontinental railroad, and a speeding train of modern-day strangers forced together by fate, it is a grand entertainment that asks big questions. The characters of Small World connect in the most intriguing and meaningful ways, winning, breaking, and winning our hearts again. In exploring the passengers' lives and those of their ancestors more than a century before, Small World chronicles 170 years of American nation-building from numerous points of view across place and time. And it does it with a fullhearted, full-throttle pace that asks on the most human, intimate scale whether it is truly possible to meet, and survive, the choices posed--and forced--by the age. The result is a historical epic with a Dickensian flair, a grand entertainment that asks whether our nation has made good on its promises. It dazzles as its characters come to connect with one another through time. And it hits home as it probes at our country's injustices, big and small, straight through to its deeply satisfying final words.
Scorpica by G.R. Macallister
Five hundred years of peace between queendoms shatters when girls inexplicably stop being born. As the Drought of Girls stretches across a generation, it sets off a cascade of political and personal consequences across all five queendoms of the known world, throwing long-standing alliances into disarray as each queendom begins to turn on each other—and new threats to each nation rise from within. Uniting the stories of women from across the queendoms, this propulsive, gripping epic fantasy follows a warrior queen who must rise from childbirth bed to fight for her life and her throne, a healer in hiding desperate to protect the secret of her daughter’s explosive power, a queen whose desperation to retain control leads her to risk using the darkest magic, a near-immortal sorcerer demigod powerful enough to remake the world for her own ends—and the generation of lastborn girls, the ones born just before the Drought, who must bear the hopes and traditions of their nations if the queendoms are to survive.
Woman of Light by Kali Fajardo-Anstine
"There is one every generation--a seer who keeps the stories." Luz "Little Light" Lopez, a tea leaf reader and laundress, is left to fend for herself after her older brother, Diego, a snake charmer and factory worker, is run out of town by a violent white mob. As Luz navigates 1930's Denver on her own, she begins to have visions that transport her to her Indigenous homeland in the nearby Lost Territory. Luz recollects her ancestors' origins, how her family flourished and how they were threatened. She bears witness to the sinister forces that have devastated her people and their homelands for generations. In the end, it is up to Luz to save her family stories from disappearing into oblivion.

His eyes fell upon the mirror hanging above the bedside table - there stood another version of himself staring back at him. Double Sans froze for a moment before realizing this wasn’t just a dream or hallucination; he really did have two bodies!
He remembered how everything started. It happened many years ago, when he found himself trapped inside a dark cave filled with terrifying monsters. At first, he thought he would never get out alive but then suddenly, he heard a voice calling his name. The voice belonged to the Creator – the one who made this entire universe. She told him she needed help protecting her creation from evil forces that wanted nothing more than to destroy it. In return, she promised to grant him any wish he desired. Without hesitation, Double Sans accepted the offer and became the guardian of the world.
However, things didn’t go according to plan. Soon after arriving on Earth, Double Sans realized that the world was far from being safe. There were dangerous creatures lurking everywhere, waiting to attack unsuspecting travelers like him. To make matters worse, someone else also discovered their way onto the planet – a powerful entity known only as Parakhin. This mysterious man managed to capture Double Sans’s mind using some kind of magic spell, forcing him to do his bidding.
Since then, Double Sans has spent most of his time living among humans and monsters alike. However, life hasn’t exactly been easy for him. Not only did he lose control over his own body, but he also developed a strange connection with a creature called Grimm. Grimm was a demonic presence that fed off Double Sans’s emotions, causing him constant pain and suffering. Despite having no choice in the matter, Double Sans learned to coexist with Grimm, finding ways to keep him under control whenever necessary.
